I couldn't agree more Morgana, great article and assessment of the attempts to drive folks away from the polls. Pound the president as ineffective for two years as well as his administration (and the dems have not been the best at telling the story of all they have done, I quote my three year old granddaughter "too much talking," but not enough helping others understand)Two years ago at the last election I took a look at this year's chart before I knew who any of the candidates might be and felt then that the majority would prevail, due to the Dems Jupiter Return, the Venus retrograde and the Uranus retrograde at election time. I have gotten nervous with ALL the pundits getting the minister, the graveyard and caskets for the Dems ready, but like you I still believe the Dems as a whole do well.

Without consulting astrology I have been refuting the meme put forth by the owners of GE,insurance companies,etc simply because the Republicans are even more unpopular than the Democrats.
Action is needed-phone calls, conversations,etc to get the attention of those who don't pay much attention.

Whilst some of these folks have the good fortune of being well off, the rest of us out here are getting crushed by the faltering economy, extreme weather events, Ageism the 900 lb gorilla in the room, inflation, stagnant wages and rising costs. It is computerized, & I go through the list one by one, give the speile, mark the response & on to the next.. Most people are over 60 registered (Undecided) or Democrat. They are well schooled in civics and make it a point to get out & vote. They proudly prefer to go to the polling place rather than send in a mail in ballot.
BUT; The Republican meme has them totally confused, they don't know what to believe.

One woman in her 80's D was concerned with "moral values" until I pointed out that pro-choice & pro-same sex marriage REALLY weren't issues that affected HER life, but SS & the health care, the financial mess WERE! She was then firmly decided to vote for Libby Mitchell.It's so rewarding to get the "light bulb" response from them.
Another was anti-Dem due to the fiscal crisis in the state & blaming the Dem State Legislature, until I ran through a condensed version of the Banker's Manefesto, & boy, she got it then!
So to make a cup of coffee, and turn on the van for this evening's phone calling.

I see the US faction conts to support IMF solutions to the global economic melt down at the G20 mtg. I can't help feeling, having their solution unholstered, they will crash the market, trash the dollar, and present their solution to heal the crises. Same technique they always use eh? Given the Federal Reserve jig is up, I wouldn't be suprised to see the crises in November.

To add a little jocularity I'll just say "My end is near". (!)

Oh yes, The Silent Majority! gets it exactly right. That's who I am chatting up every night on the phone.
And with only 1 exception they will be at the polls with bells on, even the man who has surgery scheduled for election day!

I believe you are right Timmy J. I'm not sure about Nov. because the window for that crash is wider than that, but I do know we have not yet seen the bottom of this rotten capitalistic barrel. I am not in complete favor of crashing the banks who deserve it because of the unintended consequences for the rest of the US but I am in favor of arresting the offending fraud laden CEO's, that can be done for sure. We cannot be absolutely sure the exact degree of the US 2nd house cusp because there wasn't an exact time for the signing written down but when Pluto crosses that 2nd house cusp (recorded at 9 Capricorn with the Silby chart and the other charts are even more vague) that's when the pain really begins I think. To your November point Saturn the ruler of that 2nd house has just passed the square to the 9 degrees and could bring on a mini crash. Jupiter and Uranus when they turn direct and move into Aries creating another square to the 9 Capricorn, will put additional pressure on our 2nd and 8th houses of money. This is why I say there is a broad window for a Crash but the seeds are sown now it's a waiting game.

This is one whopper of a piece, Morgana! Echoing the others on this post, your focus on memes targets the heart of collective thought. Interesting that the Dems are not that good at coming up with memes that stick. It's a good reflection of how Dems (using a broad brush here) are most likely better read, more intuitive, and certainly more thoughtful about the "other" than their counterparts.

Wipe out the people's debt. Reset credit cards and mortgages to zero. Establish new, and simple rules that reined in both banks AND the overuse of credit. How would that change the game? How would that infusion of capital turn the downward spiral?

Sally-how did I miss the thought of Pluto over the 2nd house cusp and the squaring of that cusp as well by Saturn and Jupiter and Uranus. I continue to retreat to thoughts of how the wicked will fall as Pluto travels farther into Capricorn but you remind me of the suffering of the regular folk to get to that point.
I watched that 60 Minutes last night and I was shaken by the suffering of folks who did everything right-really the brightest and the best-I can't help but wonder what the Masters of the Universe think is going to happen as this drives deeper and deeper. I can't believe that Americans will just absorb all the loss and pain.
I also have some concern for myself-I have a pension from Civil Service-I wonder how bad things will get before there is a move to stop paying the pension. Even though I contributed hundreds of dollars (AND I don't draw anywhere near my salary) every month I know that the county i worked for paid in more. I could not make it on the SSA I receive. Just wondering since Pluto will cross my MC at 18 Capricorn in a few years. I am not really spending a lot of time worrying but public employees pensions have been mentioned in this past election season

I've been looking at some individual races, but am not a skilled enough astrologer to see much--even if I knew the birth time. I do notice that Pisces Harry Reed, Senator from Nevada, has his natal Pluto on the Leo Sun and Mercury of his opponent, tea party person Sharron Angle. Also Harry's Saturn squares her Jupiter.

Well, I don't think you can declare all debts "dead", that would, in and of itself, totally tank our economy for good.

Karen, I believe what you are describing is a credit/debt jubilie. Somewhere in history they happened every 7 yrs. And we may yet get there along with other more socially advanced socioeconomic ideas, but first Pluto must take-out the status quo system which is built on debt. The SQ has many things tied together (see Columbo theory of change)but many emerging countries and some established are excluding the SQ from their trading, moving SQ to be a third world economic isolated island. Once we are an island, we can experiment with economics and eventually re-lead the world.

If you would like to read-up on economics Google Austrian Economics. Personally I like the local currencies idea. The most famous one is, I think, Ithaca Bucks. The local currencies were a big help during the last big depression, and some are in use now all over the USA.

You will also find some interesting info on gold as a standard to tie currencies to, over at FOFOA blog. Very good historical and insightful reading there! They recently had the YOU tube series on the Mandelbrot set there too.

BTW, I love that #7. I use it in REIKI through a symbol called antakarana, which is a cube with 3 sevens on each side. I've not found much about it on the net. Tibeten in origin I believe or given to them by the ancients.

Hey Karen and Timmy I just want them to fix it! Chase has our mortgage now (bet they can't find that paper work!) Chase lopped off 250K of value on our house which put us under water and we've got a fraudulent first and second, and an attorney. We are however current with our mortgage. My husband has had the house 21 years. We are beyond disgusted with the US Financial industry. So I say call it even, give us the house. There is no way we can unload it. There are four houses sitting empty within spitting distance, and we know most of our neighbors are hanging on by a thread. The jobs situation in California is much worse then the media lets on.

Morgana, my daughter was just telling me about a friend whose mortgage was with Chase. The friend nagged and pleaded until she got Chase to refinance at a more favorable rate.

At the refinance closing the friend signed a bunch of papers, of course the language was so obscure she didn't understand most of it. A couple of months later she got a foreclosure notice. Hidden somewhere in the closing papers was the requirement that she pay a large sum ($28,000) to Chase within a few months of closing. (Of course the language was not as clear as that.) The friend just gave up and let Chase have the house.

I have a friend in NJ who has been in this mess for several years. She abandoned house & rented in another state for a while but that became too expensive & awkward to commute to her well paid job in NY City. Then her friend was laid off & lost her rental so she gave her the key to her house...............& the woman moved in, & nothing happened no foreclosure. So my friend came back home.
She was advised by a lawyer last week that, NO-ONE holds title to the house ( that they can locate) she could fight foreclosure, it would be a big effort, the lawyer for Deutsch Bank hates her job & is a Beeitch to deal with; OR, she has a year, ( typically, foreclosure takes 2 years, ) to live there rent free ( the girlfriend is paying the electric bill) save her money, and bail/jettison when the time comes and go to a rental, with a nice deposit & some savings....... Then buy a new car to establish credit.
She has decided to go for the latter rather than expose herself to major battle!
It has been nasty! I am grateful that I own outright, such as it is!

Re: Chase. We've also had run-ins with Chase. When our mortgage was sold to them, we cringed. Because we literally gutted our home and retrofitted it (energy saving everything), we wanted a new appraisal. Had to be through a Chase-approved appraiser. Bad omen. Sure enough, that appraisal was so low -- barely more than what we paid for the home, it was shocking. Shocking also to the local tax appraiser. We fought it every which way but Sunday, and lost. Chase is dirty, pure and simple.

Cancelling debt would be especially effective were we to disentangle ourselves from the web that was created to allow such injurious behavior by those financial globalists. The reason I have felt that the Dems would hold this year and on into 2016 has to do with Benadette Brady's study of Venus as the Morning Star or Evening Star. The 2008 election was held during the Evening Star Venus which indicated a new "King" or new "Order of things and the party coming to power in 2008 would hold that power until 2016. I am posting a link to her article, the other indication we have is Uranus is Retrograde and a retrograde Uranus in an election chart indicates no change of power if it's retrograde. I would feel more secure with the Uranus if it were retro in the 20th house but still with both indications I do think it will be the Dems to carry.

Sally, the Venus Evening/Morning Star piece was another one of those serendipity reads for me. In a round about way, it led me deeper into this thought about egalitarian or matriarchal societies. (I'm currently reading the book Warrior Women by jeannine Davis-Kimball, an archeologist who made breakthrough observations regarding digs in Mongolia.) For warrior women, Venus may have played a significant part in determining the success of various "battles." I use that word because of the seeming battle between political parties, and how they are often focused on feminine/masculine social issues.

Forgiving the debt is now employed for various third-world countries. If we use a country as an entity, an apply the same theory then, entities falsely indebted by exhorbitant interest rates, or garbled and deceiving fine print need debt forgiveness. Further, capital gained (through debt forgiveness and a whole new set of borrowing rules) could reignite and infuse the nation with more than capital. The feeling of hopelessness might be replaced with a revitilization of spirit, greater faith in the future, and most critically, the ability to provide self and family with the goods to survive! Would it send Wall Street into a tail spin? You bet.

qop, I was talking to a gentleman from Ethiopia the other day and he said the odd thing is that you can hardly find a company or even a tourist from America anymore in the Sudan or Ethiopia, it's all Chinese. They are running the companies, the majority in schools, and a very high tourist volume and they don't know what has happened to Americans. So here we are in the US beginning the process of bringing the Chinese here for money and because we have actually sold this country to the Chinese, not too unlike the sale of Africans by their fellow Africans for a few beads, or the sale by Native American Indians to Europe again for a few beads. Oh brother we are really going back in time here.

Karen, you are so right about Venus, she is not always the gracious lovely goddess, she can be vicious and absolutely a warrior, as can Athena. I do think something is going to be done regarding the world wide monetary system but it will also completely destroy a lot of people and the poor and sick will be the first to be destroyed. The forgiveness of debt to other countries has not elevated the plight of the people in those countries, although there have been some emergency measures from speculators that have helped, such as micro banking. That said, I do not have a clue how this world is going to get out of the mess we are in without a restart, an honest restart.

Just another side note...in the 1854 chart the one Beasley mentioned, the Republican Party has Pluto trine Pluto. The GOP is going through a complete internal restructuring doing away with the old and integrating the new. The face of the Tea Baggers may well be the face of the New Republican Party, with Saturn on their Asc. as the face or image of them as harsh, restrictive, repressive, truly the American Taliban.

Two years from now we go through 2012 elections and who knows which way the nation will fly. With the outbursts of violent behavior by the radicalized right-wing if they don't win a significant victory we could see much more of this type of behavior.

I also remember back in 2006 when the pundits were talking bath time for the Democrats and they surged further ahead. We've a long way to go in our national transformation some say 2020, some 2018, some even later before our ship of state is stabilized. Every two years we have the opportunity to change the landscape. So if folks don't get off their butts now, a couple years from now when they're in deeper distress maybe they will get out and vote.

We are going through the same planetary transits that were spinning around during the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, throw in the Great Depression and who knows what shape our nation or nation states take.

I like the square of Neptune, Chiron to the Republican Moon and transiting Mercury. That Mercury will move a couple of degrees with three days causing them all sorts of chaos and confusion...the West Coast always confounds the Republicans, and I suspect they will have to recount votes somewhere in the West.

Just a couple of things regarding the US Chart, Democratic Party and the GOP, all kinds of dates roaming around. First, John Adams and Jefferson always thought that July 2 or 3 in 1776 would be the day of celebration for the New Country because that was the day the Constitution was actually signed, although it's the 4th that is celebrated there is an intent hidden within the previous day. Then there is the Date of Ratification for the US which was on March 4th, 1789 (they again have the Sun/Saturn aspect. It's a conjunction in Pisces, at about the same degrees Saturn and Uranus opposed last year. Then the war itself was not over until the 1800's, not to mention the 14 presidents who came before Washington and before the US was a country. As to all the different charts, there is a seed of this country in every one of them.

There was the Federalists from the early 1700's to about 1724, that was Hamilton's party and ideals and Washington was very much aligned with them as was Adams, they believed only the elite (plantation owners and land owners should rule this country) Jefferson didn't like that, people actually didn't even relate to parties then, did not identify themselves by parties. The Federalists slipped into the Whigs then to the American Whigs and the last of the Whig Presidents was Abraham Lincoln. Jefferson formed the Republican/Democrat Party and after years of infighting and crossing back and forth Andrew Jackson split them up and moving toward Democratic Party. The Republicans roughly formed around the Whigs and an attempt to resurge the Federalists to little avail but formed their own party in 1854 with roots still in Whigs, then the Whigs finally disbanded with stabs through the years, even today to reform, it's been a tough sell.

As I said, there are seeds of this country and these parties in all these charts and how this country got to this absolutely crazy point. I do consider the Ratification Chart to be important as well as Washington's Inaugural chart as taken for the President through progressions. Read about the Federalists you will be shocked at how much the GOP is like them. Wasn't it Nixon, like John Adams that insisted on "costumes" for the president's guard. Well I digress. I am just pointing out that you might find it fun to research the Federalists date of birth and you I think might find today's GOP, maybe even the tea baggers and how this country got to this crazy insane point in history, however we have been controlled and lied to from the beginning, we are just seeing it for the first time in our generation.

Again I urge you to research some of this information and you will find the seeds to our past, present and future. You will easily see the path we are and have been on. Great comments Morgana and Beasley and pointing a way to a diving board for us all.

Sally-thank you for the thumbnail sketch of our political parties and their evolution. I was so hurt when my little friend informed me that Lincoln was a Republican when we were around 8 years old. Her family life long Republicans and mine Democrats. Now i am off to find histories in the local library that will round out what you have made available to us-I for instance had no idea what Roberts and others were referring to when they quote the Federalists but I sure do now just from a few words from you.
Do you recommend any specific books on the subject?

Getting back to you all regarding my publically expressed desire to "go back to school". I am not going in that direction and during this week of spending time with the young woman who inspired me in that direction I have come to realize that I have much to share in terms of astrology,tarot,prayer, etc. that is closer to what I see needs development in the young ones coming to my home.
For instance learning the honesty and integrity required by the tarot or astrology is helpful in all the areas of life that the young need to succeed in.
So this is by way of saying that I am definitely ready for transformation just not in the conventional way that my Capricorn MC and Saturn would indicate. I "got" it and am releasing my years of faithful trudging to the Mother and stand here open to guidence toward the"work" of this part of life. HMMM-Sally full moon and Pluto at work here.

OK, so I have been peering into all charts and I keep asking myself the following question: What if that Jupiter, however nice it is for us, is trumped by Uranus. Surprise, but for whom? Radical ideas, crazed thought, autocrats, revolutionaries...what makes us think that the moon won't be adversely affected by Uranus for the Dems?

I just keep taking comfort in Saturn squaring the Republican Party's Sun.

Uranus oppose the Moon at 8:00pm in Washington on election day could impact the people, as well as Neptune conjunct the US Moon covering up the truth of either party, or that Neptune could just put a fog over everything, there are a lot of things Neptune can do. Right now everyone either thinks or is afraid that the GOP is a wipe out of the Dems, Uranus is more likely to deliver a surprise to the GOP, especially with Uranus retrograde in the 10th house at the end of the day, that is most often the party in control maintains control.

The thing that has always has puzzled me is in the GOP chart their NN Node is at 0'34 degrees of Gemini, the Dem Sun is at 0'34 degrees Gemini, there is an exact conjunction there and it's the Sun and Moon. At the least that indicates a desire for a coalition between them at the worst it's one party of elites. The Dems progressed Mars is now sitting on that 0 degrees indicating what we seem to have, a fight and two passionate splits of ideals and truth, completely different ideas of truth or what should be both sides believe themselves to be right and it's very possible that both sides are wrong. That through this struggle something better will be born.

We as a nation, are still living our lives trying to recreate our ideal of what we think was behind us or believe was behind us. Some want to take it back to the 1800's or the fuedal system, the Robber Barons, the depression, the 50's or that ideal, I don't know what but behind us. Pluto has made sure there is no going back and the struggle will continue until as a country we realize nothing is behind us only ahead and what do we want that to look like? This struggle between the old and the new is huge and we don't even know where or how to step up to the challange but some are trying.

The Conservatives haven't really made any changes, it's not in their nature according to studies made of them. The liberals are always changing. Will Rogers said "I don't belong to an organized political party, I am a Democrat." We aren't happy with Obama and maybe the Dems are too messy for him, but we sure as heck aren't happy with the GOP and we know that. A lot of what we don't like about Obama and the Dems has been lies and spin we've been fed and we have bought it, the Conservatives have shown us up front what they are and what they will be in the future, because nothing has changed for them. I of course want the liberals the moving forward group to win this election but if they don't we have to assume this country is so afraid of moving forward that they will sacrifice themselves on the alter of restriction, poverty and hatred in order not to have it. No health care, no medicare, Social Security, or education. It will be the survival of the fittest and that means money and the Robber Barons. That will mean breaking the back of the United States and the folks in it. Remember not every patriot fought for America during the revolution, a lot fought for England. No matter what happens we will be fighting for our survival, many of us are fighting for that right now.

Clymela, do read Ben Franklin's autobiography. It is a great read with fascinating insights into both the daily life of the mid 1700s, and the politics of the Founding Fathers.

Also, I recommend Franklin's autobiography to every Capricorn. It is almost a handbook on how to make the most of the Capricorn Sun influence (although Franklin does not mention astrology.)

A group of Professional Liberals, you incurred debt when you had your kids watched, and credit when you watched someone else's kids for a given # of hours. Because my kids were a little older than some of them I frequently paid my debt in the form of bookkeeping, rather than deal with diapers & bottles! Also hubby didn't remodel; with kid safety in mind as ours were Ist 2nd grade when we bought it. We had 3 open circular staircases no railings.

Good Morning, voting morning at that. I will be trundling down to the local Baptist church to do the hand vote-lost MY mail-in (absentee)ballot. I think that I may have recycled it when I recycled my sister's at any rate I know that my name will be on the list and I will be able to vote that way. We sent S's in a couple of weeks ago well over a week ago.
I admit that all last night I didn't think politics at all-GO GIANTS!! Yep I watched the Giants and was so happy and excited. The Texas team was great as well-I think that they won too. MSNBC just called the Presidency for Tommy Tucker in 2055. He isn't actually born as yet but they know he will win by a landslide. What is wrong with these people, they started calling this before voting was even finished. Clymela, don't worry about this being a bad thing it isn't we lost a lot of blue dog democrats (ie Republicans in sheep clothing) this is going to be ok, the tea baggers can come after them and so can the Dems.

The funniest thing is the new tea parties want to get rid of the money to Israel, wonder if they have ever met the Mossad. The people have spoken and have given what we seem to enjoy "GRIDLOCK" In every state, city, and hamlet we threw in a little of this, a little of that, a pinch here and there, some type of orange veggie and we woke up to SOUP. This is going to be interesting over the next two years, of course the house will have to spend a lot of time raising the funds for their next election. Do come to Washington,DC. or any state for that matter whatever you want we got it.

Frankly I am loving it and with Venus Retro. the buyers remorse is already setting in. Doubtful anything will get done in the first year as the in-fighting begins, then perhaps they will start to figure it out, or not. Venus rules the 10th house of the US Chart in the form of Libra and Saturn is going over that, Pluto is squaring it and both Pluto and Saturn are squaring and opposing the US Venus; ugly. The politicians have opened the door to all they consider rabble. There will be tea-baggers, progressives, lobbiests, special interests, Wall Street, and all of main street

We are on the verge of another party, a revolution, a new system something along those lines, this election and Pluto's involvement is just another sign of wipe-out of the past, chaos of the present, and change for the future. The chaos hasn't even all played out, Uranus is out there poised to conjunct the IC (our home) oppose the US mid-heaven and square US natal Venus while Pluto opposes US Jupiter and Saturn keeps rolling along in a square to all the US Cancer. I think we should up grade our habit of watching all this with popcorn and change to cheese and crackers (high end of course)

Including the new idea I had yesterday........getting the word out past/ in spite of the media. Have the kids do a newspaper/graphic novel ( series) telling the truth! ( Yes the symbol of that white carnation washed in by Neptune means TRUTH!) I have been hanging on to 4 old computers with full graphic design software, with cartoon classes in mind............The Downeast Mac Users Group, is now collecting old computers to recycle for those who can't buy & for the environment! I'm sure they would come up & hook them all up to a router so docs could be shared back & forth & all could hook to my Internet connected Imac.
They loved the idea! Maybe the computers could all be set up there at Edge, more space & ,leave me my studio for MY work.

Actually, we Progressives emerged in pretty good shape.

Florida voters passed an amendment to the FL constitution, that congressional districts have to be drawn contiguous and not gerrymandered. When I lived there, my district was drawn like a snake to break up Democratic strongholds into two, three, or more districts. The congressman from my old district didn't need to be in DC--he could have just mailed the Republican House leader his rubber stamp.

Fairly drawn districts is a good idea for every state.

Some readers on Kos are suggesting we need a Constitutional amendment to declare that Corporations are Not persons before the law. I'm for that! I emailed Alan Grayson, who lost his seat and asked him to work for it. Grayson is wealthy, energetic, and for the "Democratic wing of the Democratic Party" as Howard Dean says.

Over on the Right-Wing sites they are moaning and groaning about not winning the Senate.

We've just got to keep on keeping on.

I am curious, what do progressives stand for, or liberals, or conservatives or tea baggers. We all seem to be able to articulate what we don't stand for or don't like, but what is it we want. Education to include music,dance, art in every year. NO PRIVATIZATION of education except, as always, the private school for those who can afford it-ALL government funds to public schools only! All children are taught at least two languages from the beginning of school on. No wars without citizen approval via elections AND no privatization of the military. this would mean that in the case of attack we would go to the ballot box within six months-we must be able to defend ourselves. Liberalized immigration especially for those who can document long employment here. Welfare for any family that cannot support everyone in the family-period: welfare and food stamps for all post 12th grade students-we need all the smart,educated citizens that we can produce. Free choice for women and reproduction with an emphasis on self-esteem so that unwanted pregnancies continue to decline.

Regarding what Progressives want--I grew up with the idea that the federal government should be a sort of union for all the people of the United States. Individually most of us do not have the material resources to fight a big company, or a extremely wealthy individual, if they trespass on our rights or if they are selling us contaminated food, etc. But together, we can stand up for fairness for everybody.

Also the government is there for projects that are too big for individuals. Like the old barn-raisings, where everybody got together to build the barn; I certainly don't want to pave the street in front of my house, and if everyone in my neighborhood had a well, I don't think it would work out as well as sensibly managed public water.

Well Phil Griffin indefinitely suspended Keith Olbermann for donating to democrats with Phil Griffin's permission. Bye bye Keith, as we all know David Shuster is still indefinite suspension. The Republicans are now shutting down the progressive voices on the networks.

Keith Olbermann of MSNBC was suspended by MSNBC because he (get this one) didn't ask permission to donate to a couple of candidates before he donated. The Comcast folks are closing their deal with MSNBC today and even though Keith is the main draw on their station they still let him go. I don't think most people realize that Comcast also has a big interest in NewsMax and Fox. Keith doesn't like Fox and they probably don't like him. Our news is going to be not very objective in the future. Keith had Neptune conj. his Venus and Venus is retrograde, this is absolutely a retro type of thing. Pluto is also conj his Pluto, Saturn always tries to show Pluto who is boss and Saturn always gets his clocked cleaned in that situation. I am waiting for an underground system in the media to spring up.

@qop sounds incredibly frustrating. I'm hardwired into a router which is connected to a Comcast modem and my signal is shared between multiple machines. The only tv we can get down here in our valley in the mountains is via cable or nothing. I know my cell phone works better if I am outside the house. So maybe it's the wifi signal that is better around the corner.

Okay!! I need help. My beloved radio station is once again under attack from within. This is KPFA the mother station of Pacifica. I have been listening and supporting this station since my daughter was a wee baby and she is forty now. Yesterday, Nov 8, 2010, was a day I’ve awaited for 40years, since President Nixon shut down the last vestiges of the gold standard. Yesterday, at last, a respected member of the ruling classes called for a discussion to readopt a modified global gold standard as a lynchpin for the monetary system. Robert Zoellick, World Bank President and a former US Treasury official, says a new system is needed (as called for in HSL for 20 years), using 5 main currencies, with gold as the international reference point for future currency values. He wondrously said “Although textbooks may view gold as the old money, markets are using gold as an alternative monetary asset today.” I couldn’t have put it better and in fact I have put it in those exact words, as has Jim Sinclair and a number of free market analysts.

RZ said “The development of a monetary system to succeed Bretton Wood II launched in 1971, will take time. But we need to begin.” Amen, Mr Z and thank you! Also, thanks to the Financial Times for making this the leading page one headline story, despite their traditional aversion to gold. Ethics won! This story broke in the early AM Nov 8th and halted a correction that began in the gold price, after which gold rose to a new high. The story freaked out ruling politicians around the world who despise gold because it acts as a governor on government spending. After Nixon closed the gold window, government spending and deficits rocketed, as the data charts prove, from that exact moment. Germany, the US Fed, and Trichet of ECB all patted Mr. Z on the head, but said it’s not practical.

What would you expect them to say dear reader? They will fight a gold-linked system, but in the end they will give in, because the system is dying, fast, as the gold price reflects. How good a new system will be, whether it will have only a symbolic link or a strong one, can’t be guessed today, nor how soon. The gold price will tell us. My prediction on Bloomberg TV in Paris a few years ago was that “Gold will force a system change when gold hits $1,650, but that it might need $2,000 to bring a change.” That may still come true, because, as you see in the press today, most political leaders tried to discount Mr Z’s brave, but wise recommendation.

It was a conference call.......he went back out to the garage & the conversation began to intrude on my reading concentration. I heard phrases, such as We have to frame it better & employ strategy.............If we could convince a Republican in the legislature to present the bill.........lots of laughter "bullshit" & "LePage is going to"........floating around..in the background. WHEN HE CAME BACK I ASKED DAVE WHO THEY WERE. "Oh they're your people" he said. The Maine Peoples Alliance.
( Dave has given a talk at the Nat Press Club on health insurance back in 2004.) He a gave them my phone number, a recommendation, & the Pres. will call me re: membership. Timmy, I've been looking for a site such as this! But, I've not yet got the knack of internet searches. So... thank YOU! The piece on gold is akin in many ways to the Credit Jubilee. Either or both in combination could revitalize the world's economic system. Yes, we could do it, but won't for awhile yet. The polarization between political parties, religion, rich and poor is reaching critical mass. Each of us are contributing our energies, in varying vibrations, to a dynamic shift.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to find one's center for we are being exhorted to "fight" back, something that signifies further erosion of civil discourse. What are we fighting for? Sally asks this question above. What are we FOR? It seems far easier to know and rant AGAINST....fill in the blank. In fact, it is so much easier, the party indentifying themselves as Republican or Tea Party have elevated AGAINST to an art form without offering anything inventive. No plan to be criticized or countered.

The questions are coming in waves, and I don't know the answers. I'm just not quite sure "fighting" back is one of them. Each of us have been doing just that throughout our lives. And, during that time the divisions have deepened, poverty and human misery increased.

Obama shouldn't be the center. His role right now is to be "Master of the Universe".

The Republican/reactionaries didn't rely on elected officials for framing. Instead they created their own independent centers to do the framing. The reason is that framing needs to be done by people who can devote their full attention to the jobs, and who do not have to worry about being elected to anything ever.

I think of the Revolutionary Days pampheteers, the underground newspapers of the 60's, and the "alternative radio stations" of today.

Listening to "The Visionary Activist" program with astrologer/healer Caroline Casey and she has someone on whose name I can not find at the moment but she is showing Obama as someone who is almost swallowed by the immensity of his attempts to change the direction of our Ship of State. I must say that she presents a strong understanding of the complexity and I am left again wondering why we must go along to get along with folk who are simply going the WRONG direction. I don't know but I so want to have something to "get behind" on the collective level but I hondstly can't see any line to join at this point.

From my perspective, an "economic recovery" that requires a tripling in the Fed's balance sheet, continues to average 450,000 new unemployment claims weekly, and relies on fiscal stimulus to counter utterly stagnant personal income, is ipso facto (by the fact itself) not a "standard" economic recovery. We have swept an enormous volume of bad debt under rugs, behind dams, and in back of curtains (not to mention in off-balance sheet vehicles such as Maiden Lane that were created by the Federal Reserve). But it is all effectively still there, festering. Meanwhile, our policy makers are trying to reignite financial bubbles in order to create an illusory "wealth effect" to propagate spending patterns that were inappropriate in the first place.

It is a bizarre notion that a credit crisis can be solved by bailing out lenders while doing nothing about the obligations on the borrower side. Think about it - what we have said to lenders is, here you have these homeowners who can't pay for their houses. Foreclose on them, sell the homes at half the price, and the public will make you whole (largely through Treasury bailouts to Fannie and Freddie, made necessary by Federal Reserve purchases of these securities)...snip

Just in time for everyone to take a deep breath before everything really winds up when Uranus goes direct in a close square to Mars on Dec. 5th, we have Jupiter going direct tomorrow morning on the 18th and Venus following right behind 4 hours later. This has been a very difficult Venus retrograde with lots of money thrown down the tubes on the mid-term elections, people already moaning and groaning over their picks, (and that is going to get worse, by 2012 we will all feel as if we've had way too much "tea")the rest of the year is going to be dramatic as we gird ourselves for the next round of drama.

Obama will come out of this but not until and if he learns some lessons and heeds those lessons. I don't like the word triangulate because it makes me feel like I'm choking or being choked and I would expect that right about now he might feel the same. He has triangulated himself into a very difficult corner, without friends on the right or left and smelling blood, the crocks are circling. I will tell you give you a hint, they won't get him and his isolation and the disaster the GOP is getting ready to bring down on all our heads will garner him much sympathy and many friends setting off the reality of "WE are the change" which is what he said all along, he never said it was just him that would make changes, it will be all of us. Sally-thank you so much for your words and thoughts. I am trying to hold on to my faith but whew!! these past weeks and months have been real testers.
A personal aside just at the end of "paying" attention to myself came the memory of a deep and special time with my grandfather after he had had an accident with my "doggie" in which my beloved dog was killed. I was about 3 I think and I was devastated and wanted to know why my grandpa had "killed my doggie" (family story there!) and in discussing this my grandpa explained that my doggie was now with God and on my asking where God and my doggie were my grandfather pointed to the horizon out over the Pacific Ocean and there were clouds with turqoise and peach coloring and still the soft yellow of the sun from behind (this must have happened in the "rainy season" when the evening clouds often look like this). These have always been my spiritual colors and just now in this time when Venus goes over my descendant I realize that I need to have these colors around all the time-they soothe and inspire me.
Well enough of me. The UC regents have increased the cost of tuition by 40% in two years and snarled that people have to accept that there is no "free education" and then the new budget for California cuts out help with childcare for family childcare for working parents-guess what? most of the the families will not be able to work without this help-childcare is around $1000 a month. Crunch and frightening.
Obama is not visible and I pray that he is learning whatever his lessons are-I am deeply disappointed in his right leaning stances over and over and I pray that he will come out talking to us ordinary folk who want to work together and believe that we can create a better life by working together.

Once when I was going through a really really bad time and it went on year after year and I remember thinking "well, you can never ever appreciate heaven unless you've seen hell." Timely and potent Cathy Pagano piece, Qop! The frequency of synchronicity experiences are re-shaping the way I view Self and the World. The AstroStar letter is case in point. Yesterday I knew with clarity that we are all being played politically. The sense of growing unease (and, by extension, the search for the dirty truth)we experienced when Bush/Cheney were draping themselves in the power of horror is NOW BEING USED by the crafters of the so-called "tea party." The conspiracy theories we bantered and toyed with are being aimed directly at Obama.

Many on the "left" are also heaping criticism and vitriole on Obama, laying everything at his feet even those aspects of life he has no control of whatsoever.

I've sensed for quite some time that I (that all of us) were being played. Just recently, however, I felt a visceral knowingness.

Hi Folks, thank you for the energies, I'm mostly pretty foggy. Though I am feeling better, enough so to catch the TSA energy brewing. I've avoided the news for the last few days. Does any one know the launch date of this assault on the people? I know we have just had a full moon, and that Neptune, Jupiter and Venus have all gone direct recently. The TSA overstep is leading to more and more outrage. From a young mans 'don't touch my junk' to the older man with a bio bag covered in his own urine, you can hear the moral outrage. I have been working on this assignment for decades now and just this past week have I realized deep inside that although there are responsibilities,and obligations perfection is not required,expected or needed. Though Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that I question because of moving, war-ing on, and disease-ing Native Americans, I nonetheless am thankful for sharing with family and friends. Okay-pecan, pumpkin and apple pies are done. When I was a child this didn't seem extraordinary but wow sure seems over the top to me now. Still there will be a large number of family and friends so not so much. I am not making bread this year-the rolls will come out of a bag.
Here is my miracle: my grandson age 14 just came in and said "if you want Grandma you can go rest now and I will clean up the kitchen". What beautiful music and totally out of the blue. He explained that his job at his residential school is kitchen duty. This from my little guy with the cardinal grand cross-this school is saving his life and giving him the structure to realize all the talent and power in that chart-there is also a kite and mystic rectangle.

Good Morning everyone. So cold here!! The cats demanded to go outside around 2:30 AM but when I went to the door this morning at around 5AM they fell in-they were snuggled in a big ball to keep warm. Cold!!
This was the best Thanksgiving I ever had. No "family" arguments, the food was perfect, my daughter and I worked together, football games were interesting. I am truly grateful today.
The moon looked like the shade of a lamp last night in fact I thought that the Moon was a street lamp and was looking for the base.

Peace & serenity from here too. I do believe it was warmer inthe Catskills than on the West Coast.

Tom Delay (04.08.1947 9:47pm Brazos, TX) and he is coming up on a conjunction to his Mars from Uranus and Jupiter, plus a trine from Uranus and Jupiter to his natal Jupiter and Moon. Whatever time he gets it won't be a long time and not what he deserves or what we think he deserves. If he is given a long sentence he will not have to serve the whole thing and he will be able to save or get money out of it all. He is about to be given a gift from the Universe. I was ooh-la-la over the Moon/Mars/Saturn grand trine. I don't know what you were referring to regarding his natal blessings but this just said to me "You are loved and always will be loved". Even though he has only meant pain in my experience I "see" that he can be quite a comfort to others although I suspect that he has used this gift to finagle his own desired outcomes over his lifetime.

On the Ed Show today Ed said that 80% of the Federal employees earn under that amount. I fear that he will capitulate about the tax rates while really, really hurting people who are struggling to keep their families together.
So far the WIKIleaks haven't revealed anything worth the young man's life-he will no doubt spend decades in prison judged a traitor.

Your post was a wonderful stream-of-consciousness read this morning, Clymela. The least of us have always been targets, because we put up the least resistance. What perplexes me is that we continue to fight among ourselves (I'm guilty.) instead of aligning ourselves with other "have-nots."

Again, it all seems rather programmed. That we accept the programming of good/bad, right/wrong without looking at the nuances. And often we cannot do so because we're too busy trying to keep the wolf from the door.

Listening to NPR news this morning. I'm just chuckling. The WIKI leaks are being reviled, yet reporters seem almost gleeful to be reading juicy-detail correspondences. I understand why some diplomats may be shaken by the leaks. Yet, we do not negotiate peace -- we negotiate for leverage, or for resources, but certainly not for peace. The leaks are a manifestation of current planetary energies. And apparently the next series of leaks will deal directly with the banking cartels. Ba-da-boom, ba-da-bing!

The dialogue regarding regional blocs of states fits right into the current energies. It's difficult to think through the kind of structures that might represent. It may be beneficial in very few scenarios (California bloc). Others, it seems to me, would rely heavily on "independent contractors" to maintain borders, and provide essential fire and emergency services. Ugly stuff.

Have any of you seen the movie Shutter Island? If you haven't I recommend doing so. It's a twister, but essentially centers on illusion. I know, I know, I keep returning to this subject, but the carefully constructed illusions (both within our own psyches and those created for us) are now disassembling.

Re: smoking. I continue to be baffled by the wholesale villification of smoking. We can spend billions of dollars (non-smoking is a lucrative campaign) to punish and marginalize smokers, while allowing the biggest polluters to go untouched. Another measure of control.

I read years ago when still smoking that the entire second hand smoke thing was created because some university folk were constructing a machine and program to measure the amount of real pollution in our lives but all that they could get to show up on their machines in a way they could measure was smoke in the rooms where smokers smoked so...rather than admit a bust in their testing they came up with the dangers of "second hand" smoke.
Now even though I am an ex-smoker and there for one of the most parsimonious little judgers around, I do believe that this non-smoking thing displays the worst absolute worst of our national character. Perhaps because my mother before her passing and my sister continued to smoke even when they lived with me I have had to examine this DEEPLY with heavy personal resources and I have come to hate the entire thing although I won't go back now that I am safely on this shore(I can pass in any crowd). I recognize the little fascist bitch in my nature but by the Grace of my Blessed Mother my awareness of compassion and mercy is stronger. and through this lately I am coming to understand that the rigid bitch is just my perfectionism-wanting everything perfect so that I will be loved!! Obama, GOP reach deal on tax cuts

Brushing past Democratic opposition, President Barack Obama announced agreement with Republicans Monday night to extend expiring tax cuts for all Americans, renew jobless benefits and grant a one-year reduction in Social Security taxes for millions.

MAN THE TORPEDOES FULL SPEED AHEAD

Every one of the planets has hit direct in the sky. This can be like a run away train with nothing stopped for the next three days until Mercury goes retrograde on Pluto and opposing the US Jupiter. Assange has been arrested but according to him the info in his possession has already been distributed, whether it will be published or not is still up in the air I think. The US seems to always be in a turmoil with a Mercury retrograde and I don't have a reason to believe this time will be different. Mars will meet up with Pluto and retro Mercury before Christmas. Sales will drop dramatically by the 15th, screaming about the tax bill and what the rich got away with and the newly elected tea partiers in Congress will be chomping at the bits.

The bankers are obviously afraid of what Assange has in his possession, really a world wide search for a man who is accused of commiting rape on a woman working for the CIA and it wasn't even rape she now says just a lost condom, this is too wierd, I don't remember a time there was ever an international search for a rapest even if he did it and it looks like he didn't. I don't remember a real interest being taken toward men who serial rape must less a "maybe, maybe not" rape.

If you get tired of all this easily, stay away from the TV, lots of BS is going to be put out before and after the recess.

Morning all! Wouldn't it just be something if Julian Assange lets it all fly. I have mixed feelings toward Obama leaning more toward the negative every day. Obama has bent over backwards to protect Bush and Cheney, and though he protests he gives the Republicans everything they want. I have been heeding Thumper's mother and have kept my mouth shut and my fingers idle (keyboards can get you in much trouble!). I don't plan on going to any Wiki-leaks sites since our government can track where we go on the net and follow us right back to our own homes..knock knock knock, "come with us". Oh hell no I already understand my government has lost any moral compass and is rotten to the core and I have no desire to be hassled by them, not for Wiki-leaks or the Bushco boyz. I am so not a martyr. Just watching from the back row of the top tier of bleachers.

Ok back to work for me. I'll be back by later to catch with all of you.

Well!! I awakened early and made a huge pot of cream of broccoli soup for the family-daughter coming over to do laundry. I also made wonderful applesauce. I listened to a bit of the news and then turned away and told my darling that I was going to squander some of our money and spend the day watching Humphrey Bogart movies.

I take a moment and salute Elizabeth Edwards and send her white light with which to travel in peace. My heart goes out to her family-death even when expected is so brutal.

Love to you all-really. Humphrey is now denouncing the woman, Ms O'Shaunnesy(?) for her evil ways and I may just rent Casablanca next.

Elizabeth Edwards will be sadly missed by those left behind.......but death isn't always brutal.
SHe has completed her mission here, well.........
& she will be there watching over her children.
SHe has created her own light...........and walks in it.
WHen my Father died almost 30 years ago.......it was a very spiritual event. He passed just as the Pennsylvania Pro Musica was beginning their annual performance of Messiah in Phila. He had sung the tenor solos for years..........and there was harp music in the hospital room. He watched over us for several years after, and still checks in from time to time.

I feel rather tacky here after your beautiful words and thoughts QOP but here goes: I agree with what Obama did. I think that this is the only way to get the unemployment benefits flowing again. I don't like much of Obama he is square and not progressive but he is the President and a Democratic President at that and I do believe he made the right move here. I won't even stat on how I feel about Coburn or Bachman for instance-we are in for some VERY ugly times and we Democrats need to pull together or as the saying goes we will certainly swing alone.

Very well said Clymela. I am absolutely not happy with Obama but I cannot get over the feeling that his strings are being pulled. As much as I disliked GWB, I had the same feeling the last year of his presidency. There has been a string of presidential destructions since JFK. LBJ,Nixon, Ford, Carter, even Reagan with the rumors put out at the end of his presidency, that there was something wrong with him. Then came GHWB, Clinton, GWB, and now Obama. It all seems to be a carefully planned year after year of weakening the presidency. Or we the people are doing it as we make it clear that we are not getting all we want from these men. I just know there is something really odd that goes on and it's nearly impossible to put a finger on it but it isn't what the media tells us it is. I wonder how much Assange will get out.

Elizabeth Edwards was not a great woman but great in the fact that she was a woman and wore the mantle well. She faced and worked at all thrown her way, isn't that what we all do in our lives as women, cleaning up mess after mess tragedy after traged for the family, trying to make it a family that knows they are loved and supported. I do know that she is looking forward to her next challenge and life after she rests a bit. She will be missed by her family and friends but she will bloom elsewhere and be welcomed elsewhere.

Rain here solid enough to have our outdoor guy really shut down. He is feral enough that he refuses to sleep with us but he sleeps in our room and welcomes all pets and scratches. The people are being misled through the government's communication and perhaps Wikileaks, although there are over a thousand mirror sites right now to wikileaks and this government has opened the flood gates to the information coming to Assange's information, another Neptune business as usual. The US Moon is in the third house of communication, when Neptune is there by transit you don't want anything out there that you don't want on the front pages of the media and in Aquarius that would be the front pages of the world.

It's a circle over and over, Pluto still in the first house of the US Chart opposing Venus and Jupiter, both square the 10th house of the government and Uranus and Jupiter bearing down in their own oppositions and squares to that same aspect. There will be more money poured out by corporate and banks to bring the hammer down on the people world wide. Joe Liberman and his "info" committee started this mess a couple of years ago and because he tried to stop Wikileaks then he has this debacle now.

Remember when Joe Trippi (Howard Dean's first campaign manager) wrote a book and the title was "The Revolution Will Not be Televised: Bringing down Democracy, the Internet and Everything Else."

I do have a feeling now for what is going on-hmmm?! says I -wondering what the source of the Wikileaks really is-now I see why there is the Alice in Wonderland quality to everything.
