I DON'T KNOW AND IT WASN'T ME

by Sally Cheyne McDonald

I raised 4 children basically alone, two girls and two boys and had the usual highs and lows that most parents experience. Days when I wanted to shout to the world with pride "that's my child," and days I wanted to deny (but couldn't) those kids had any relationship to me. I did however have two other children that I never saw their face or even heard them coming until my other four were standing in front of me; I did nevertheless know their names. They were called "I don't know and it wasn't me." Today all four of my kids are grown and doing pretty well, so are the other two, in fact "I don't know and it wasn't me" are in Washington as we speak, they are rich and powerful people today. They have been working and rising to the top of banks, insurance companies, politicians, big business. They are right now sitting in front of Congressional hearings, repeating those oft used names of "I don't know and it wasn't me," a close third would be "it's not my fault," even if they are holding the smoking gun in their hands. BP, Halliburton, and Transocean seemingly had nothing whatever to do with the Gulf massive oil spill; they don't know what happened. It wasn't them, they don't know what happened, and it wasn't their fault. Believe me, before all this is over they will try (and might succeed) in placing the cost on the taxpayers shoulders, after all the Banks and Insurance companies have been able to do this with the help of our "it wasn't us" government.

As long as Neptune is in its final run of Aquarius there will be plenty of stories about oil and water around the world. If Neptune is placed prominently in your charts you will also have to look out for obfuscation, oil and water around you, that can cover everything from higher oil and gas prices to oil spills, from heavy rains to floods, from confusion to out and out lies, so keep a look out. “I don’t know and it wasn’t me” has already provided quite a lot of obfuscation.

Uranus moving into Aries will create some rapid and sometimes shocking changes, hopefully the Saturn opposition to Uranus in late July will mitigate or restrict some of the expected explosions around the world. We haven’t always had explosions with Saturn and Uranus connections but we have always had unexpected events leading to greater opportunities for growth and change. Some group or individuals will be shocked but will it be conservatives or liberals, rich or poor, thieves or honesty? Hard to tell but it will be chaos worldwide. David Cameron, the new Prime Minister of the UK and a conservative has already thrown his lot with the Liberal Democrats, those two parties are about as opposite in ideology as a country can get, this will be very interesting to watch. Mr. Cameron was born Oct. 9, 1966 in London (NBT take 12:00 noon) His Venus at 7 Libra will be sure to cause him some problems in the year 2010, he also has Neptune in exact opposition to his Mars in Leo; transiting Mercury is getting ready to go direct and in a square to Mr. Cameron’s Jupiter and Mercury, his promises today are over reaching and he will need to pull back or the other option is he won’t come close to telling the truth or being able to complete what he has promised. England is struggling like the US and David has his work cut out that’s for sure and Nick Clegg the leader of the Liberal Democrats whose star is beginning to rise will be a formidable opposition party to Prime Minister Cameron, who describes himself as a “compassionate conservative.” Does that title ring any bells?

There are for sure positives and negatives intensifying for the US and the world, the real questions will be no whether there is disaster looming ahead for people and countries, there is disaster looming as it does every year, every decade and every century. The question will be whom will it benefit, the elites or the populace or will we learn that we are all one people and we impact each other. Maybe 2012 will show us the answers.

Hey all I am in editing the funky characters I'll have it cleaned up shortly.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Morgana-thank you so much for this. I was thinking along theses lines today-thinking that this must come from childhood lessons learned faultily. I mean how else to explain grown up rich and powerful men (for the most part) refusing responsibility and trying to push it off on to others. I mean really!! And in this case the whole world is watching.
Everything looked fine to me. Guess you got everything cleaned up before I got home.
OHHH!! Unanimous vote to audit the Federal Reserve!! Well! Amazing!! How's that for Uranus leaving Pisces?? HMMMM???!!!1

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Well Miss Sally I just noticed that it was you!! Tired I am and I was thinking of Morgana. Took two of our kittens to get their vasectomies today and I am weary- I seem to be more done in than they are-I could probably use some of that medicine that causes their eyes to dilate.
Thank you dear one. My life is so enlightened by your words and those of everyone here-love to you.

Perfect, Sally. This morning NPR is saying about the same thing. Kids (punks) on a playground.

The overall grand scheme of the past (with it's overhanging belly and fat cigar) bullying its way into the future is coming to an end. We're all to blame for letting them. While we may have been demonstrating the wars, complicities, they were laughing while we drove our gas-guzzling autos and ran our air HVAC units at top capacity. So, in some ways, we'll all have to pay the piper, or at least that's my thought.

I still keep thinking about that quote from the bible, but don't know where to find it. It's 1/3 of the water, 1/3 of the land. . .someting, something. Help?

Also Sally, thank you for the heads up on Neptune. It plays a prominent role in my chart. It usually plays out in how easy it is to play a joke on me. My gullibility is such an easy mark. :)

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Karen- I so agree with you. My wake-up call was the day I learned that most paper towels are made from virgin timber!! yep!! how insane are we?

I'M IN, (well I think I'm in.) I have gone back to September to pass all the comments in that have been blocked. I will go on back to June this weekend. I have missed all of you so much and felt like I bothered Morgana too much to keep on asking her to post. I have fought with these people for months and was getting so sick and tired of it. Today I had a little bit of magic going for me and walah I'm on. Now let me see if this works.

by the way, My email address is sammcd@q.com if anyone needs to contact me. Now let me see if this posts.

Hello Sally...one thing caught my attention concerning Cameron and that is that he was born during the Pluto-Uranus conjunction. I know quite a few folks close to me born with that conjunction and I have always been curious how it would manifest in their lives, especially as we come to the critical Pluto-Uranus squares. I suppose it is significant that he has become PM just as we begin to enter the time of these squares. I suspect there will be others come to prominence at this time who were born at the conjunction. Just wondering what you think....Timothy

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Timothy-my "constant companion" was also born at that Uranus/Pluto conjunction and is just now admitted to graduate shcool and has been recognized in ways that he would never have believed possible earlier in his life. He is not seeking the limlight but is moving into a position to support and encourage folk who have the humble origins he had but were not blessed with those extra IQ points.
I am thinking that these natives will help us move beyond the right/left,progressive/conservative dichotomy as we are forced to recognize our collective predicament as humans beings on the planet that we have almost destroyed.

Sally Cheyne McDonald [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Timothy, when Pluto was in Sag and squaring the Uranus/Pluto square that generation was going through their own trial by fire, similar to the Saturn/Uranus conjunction in Gemini during WWII and Pluto in Sag was opposing that square signaling that generation leaving the stage. Uranus/Pluto in the 60's with Saturn in Pisces opposing in the late 60's indicates a break between the old and new, just as it does today and it came with great upheaval. in 1980 Saturn was in Virgo and Neptune in Sag, again aspecting the conjunction and asking the 60's group to solidify the changes made during the 60's, instead Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher were elected to lead the world, and now England has their "second" Margaret Thatcher and it remains to be seen if Obama is our Ronald Reagan. My personal belief is the Bushes are still calling the shots. I am wondering if the 60's and 70's have become the "old" and the far right the "new." I hope not, but again we have an upheaval today as we did then with another titled radical group fighting for whatever they think are their rights, just as the 60's fought against the Vietnam War and for Civil and Women's Rights.

The late degree of the Uranus/Pluto conjunction in Virgo with Saturn opposing from Pisces fell across the Asc. and Desc. of the beginning of the Civil War, and here we are again with the same issues, a country divided. Don't forget that Abraham Lincoln also warned about the rise of greed and control in banks and big business, as did Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Jackson, Teddy Roosevelt, Harding, FDR, Eisenhower and Kennedy, not to mention a vast array of additional politicians through the years. Still all those born in the 60's as all those born during the depression or WWII, the chaos and civil unrest placed a stamp on that generation. It's the sense of violent upheaval and fear that stamps each generation unfortunate enough to have been born into whatever tragedy is happening in their countries.

Children born in the 60's were to parents impacted by the upheaval and fear of WWII and the Cold War that followed, plus their parents impacted by the Depression. Those babies of the 60's started growing up during the biggest fight between the elite (and wanna be elite) and populism since the Civil War and populism seemed to win out over both of those conflicts and it left a real bitter taste in the mouths of many. Remember that during the Civil War estates in the South had to be abandoned as they lost everything in and during the war, those plantations were snapped up by carpet baggers for pennies on the dollar and we have a modern version of the same thing today with people losing their jobs and their homes.

The planets are asking this generation what they learned from their parents and did their parents do anything about grounding their kids in a sense of compassion for others they the hippies seemed to believe in or did we all give up in the name of making as much as possible and that's what they learned growing up. That question will not be answered until after the next two oppositions between Saturn and Uranus with Pluto squaring them both.

I know this is a long answer and it's very late here so I don't know how well I articulated my thoughts, but this is a long and slow process between the outer planets playing out over months and years, the actions of every generation plays out in the next and each generation builds on the towers or ashes of the one before.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

That was VERY well articularted, Sally! Aren't the 60's group also intimately tied to recycling and reuse? I don't remember the planetary energies associated with it, and i may be off the mark. But, if this energy is a part of it, then it may come into play big time SOON.

This transition seems epic to me, Sally. Something never before experienced on this planet in quite the same way, primarily because of the concentrations of population, the horrendous disasters that damage the planet so that those populations (human, plant and animal) cannot be sustained.

I wonder if this fight going on will end up being a fight for resources. Is this what the immigration fight is really about?

P.S. I'm SO GLAD YOU'RE BACK ON~~~~~~~~~

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Merriman has been watching Alice through Wonderland!

http://www.stariq.com/pagetemplate/article.asp?PageID=10175

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Karen-I was living in Berkeley in the 70's and as I witnessed it was the "old hippies",myself included, who started the recycling, the food co-ops at least here. I am unclear about when these things became a part of the collective life. Here we have regular recycling barrels and green compost barrels along with the regular trash barrels. I have heard that these programs have been funded by the government and that some municipalities don't want to fund them. I hope that is not going to happen.
Sally!! yeah!! to have you explaining the bigger picture is such a gift. Wonderful to read your sweet reasonable description of our unfolding story through the decades and the way of standing back and observing through the lens of astrology. This is one for the bookmark so that I don't lose it.

Sally Cheyne McDonald [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Now that's a profound and astute observation Karen, recycling was a part of the 60's and will or is rising again. The Jupiter/Saturn twenty year Great Conjunction in Taurus on May 31, 2000 and Merriman mentioned the opposition between them. The "Great Conjunction" last for 20 years and guides the direction of energies for those 20 years. This opposition trines and sextiles respectively that conjunction in taurus and we are coming to the end of it. The "Great Conjunction" have been dominated by earth signs since 1802 in this country. Earth energy is about accumlation, building solid environments and infrastructures, hanging on to what we believe we own and on the down side of the energy is greed, self-absorption and selfishness, we have been seeing the worst of the earth energy of the "Great Conjunction" for quite awhile in this world. but take heart, it's the last of the earth Great Conjunctions until at least well after 2300. In 2020, the conjunction goes into Aquarius for 20 years and stays in Air Signs, Water, and Fire until after 2300. The inner signals for those well connected to earth things is to grab and keep as much as they can, the lack of creativity with that energy will become appearent in another 10 years. The institutions practicing the worst of the earth signs will be slowly falling even while they think they are going up, we are seeing evidence of that now in churches, financial institutions, oil and big business; as they fall off their mountain they will be too busy trying to grab everything they can and everyone's expense they won't see until it's too late for them that they are are so close to the bottom of the barrel.

Watch the record profits with these people as Jupiter and Saturn trine and sextile their Great Conjunction in Taurus, it's their last hurrah as they struggle to hold on and grab more by any means possible

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

This was great, Sally --

"The institutions practicing the worst of the earth signs will be slowly falling even while they think they are going up. . ."

Yes, there is evidence of this very thing everywhere. And, an oblivion to how it has affected and will affect others.

yesterday I did a Lynda Hill, Sab. Symb. oracle

I got: aries 0-1 A Woman Just risen from the sea , A seal is embracing her.
( 28o pisces is my n jupiter)
12 years ago my jupiter return was compromised by my saturn return!
I had a business partner with the latest Adobe design software, stylus & tablet, studio space…….
name, logo…………Oh joyous, creative beginning!
The ice storm ( nature) of ‘98, happened, delaying all art contracts ( who buys artwork when they are living by lantern light & woodstove, or in a motel room)
The delay……..exposed a rift in the relationship; I thought he wanted me for my technical expertise having just completed a year of Graphic Design in college, and my long time experience in the art field.
OOps, I reminded him of his Mother and he wanted a lot of nurturing & ego building from me! END PARTNERSHIP!
It was 3 1/2 years before I was able to get my own Mac & software, & I still don’t have that stylus & tablet!
( Now; I am casting a gimlet eye on 7th house matters!)
Friday, I started an intensive paper making workshop at the University, with a Professor who is completely in love with his subject. The “Book Room” is equipped with everything needed to produce a book from a start to finish; funded by the Stephen King Foundation, and at my age tuition is FREE! Prof. collaborates with a woman who taught at the college where I began years ago.
So present moves back into the past to grab what’s needed to proceed into the future.
Communication, the written word, a picture is worth a thousand words……………..
Bring it on!

qop-I just had an imagination of your handmade book full of drawings/paintings of tied pools and children playing at the beach and now that I am thinking perhaps sketches of horses and cats,
Karen I "sent" another, earlier post saying how much I love your thinking.
I was just sending love to you and Sally and Morgana for all you do to brighten my mornings (a total morning person I am asleep when most adults are relaxing in the evening). Don't know where that one went.
joannaoregon- hope you are well. I miss your pithy words and thoughts.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Clymela.....you have telepathic vision!
Of course those (old) sketchbooks have children on the beach, cats & horses...................

Sally Cheyne McDonald [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Could be a bad day on Wall Street tomorrow, Venus and Saturn are often involved with crashes and they are in square aspect tomorrow, the only thing I can see to stop a really bad day is the Saturn in a trine to the US Pluto in the second house. That could stop a bad slide by afternoon.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

You just made my morning, Clymela. Thank you! I'll add this too. . .it seems some of our experiences parallel. Different parts of the country, but similar experiences. I think we may resonate with one another on a Gem level too? My birthday is comin' right up. Well, in another month. This will be 60. (Okay, qop. . .i hear that laugh!)

The market slide would be another example of the great dismantling you've spoken of, Sally.

Sally can you give me any insight regarding Uranus and Jupiter co-conjunct North Node by transit?

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Margaret and Helen has a new post this morning.

http://margaretandhelen.wordpress.com/

Sally Cheyne McDonald [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Karen, Jupiter and Uranus transiting the NN is a new focus, things change, with Uranus, it might be sudden but usually a conjunction with the NN indicates an unfolding situation. It certainly is not a difficult transit, but if they are transiting the NN, that means Saturn is on the SN and that is usually something a person is working on comes to an end within a few months and the "new" with Jupiter/Uranus won't really get started until they retrograde back over the NN and then come forward over it again. I don't know what house this all takes place in and that would give more clues, as would the aspects formed between NN and the rest of the chart in your natal chart, as would the aspects of your natal Jupiter and Uranus and the houses they rule.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Karen-yep!! 60 sure got my attention. I turn 63 5/25 though the Solar Return is always on 5/24 now.
QOP-I know that I do have something going on. Intuition to the 9th degree? Don't know but when I do "link"with those important to me there is always silence and absolute lack of emotional engagement-of course I only realize this after the fact when someone confirms as you just did.
Sally-thank you for the quick tutorial. I am always a little vague around the nodes-your words clarified this and I know I will use to support someone else.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thanks, Sally. That's primarily what i concluded after reading the limited material i do have. It will occur in the 2nd house. Since we are now a few weeks into beekeeping, i can see some new inspiration coming from these industrious creatures. They're working from sunrise to sunset. We have them under a huge tulip tree. It's become a bee highway from hive to tree. The orchestral buzzing creates ethereal music.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I am copying this wonderful address givin by Lunagardner on Starlight News. I find the content so moving and so beautiful that something of the wound I have felt since the news of the explosion and hemorrhage of oil in the gulf of Mexico has healed:

Dr. John has a beautiful prayer offering. I posted it on my blog. I also have a link to his song Clean Water’ Which I sing along to daily.

http://fernmountain.blogspot.com/2010/05/oil-spills-and-angel-of-grief.html

Sally Cheyne McDonald [TypeKey Profile Page]:

That's a beautiful prayer Clymela, thanks for posting. BP is now saying they will be done in the Gulf by August, "will be done" is different that "it will all be cleaned up by August.

A Tea Party Manifesto for Every Child
CA state Sen. Leland Yee (D) has introduced a bill to stop Texas textbooks from getting into CA classrooms. Earlier this year, Texas cut Thomas Jefferson out of textbooks and replaced him with the religious right icon John Calvin - who argued that riches are the sign of god's blessing and poverty is a sign of god's curse - and also tossed out the word "democratic" from the description of the US govt, replacing it with "republic" which sounds more like "Republican" - an old rhetorical trick that goes back to Joe McCarthy's time. A new report in the Guardian reveals that the Texas dropped the phrase "slave trade" in favor of 'Atlantic triangular trade." And newly proposed changes in Texas schoolbooks include teaching kids the importance of gutting social security & medicare and how the UN "is a danger to US sovereignty." The Texas school board will be meeting again this week and cons have promised to keep chipping away correct years of liberal bias in history classes. Texas serves 4.7 million students and accounts for a large percentage of the textbook market, and they influence what is taught in the the entire US. Textbooks for children are becoming a Tea Party Manifesto.

But then there is the other side of the coin!
This course, is Fab, fab, fabulous.
Prof. is teaching POLITICAL HISTORY along with history of paper making. Think of it. PAPER! A backbone of civilization for centuries. It began in China of course...then the Arabic countries developed their own methods. BAGHDAD, was thought to be the site of the first papermill! When the Moors invaded across the Mediteranian countries, they didn't destroy, they brought paper making skills. In, oh, about 500 years, the European White breads picked it up and claimed credit for inventing it!
During the Spanish Inquisition; the mill owners & workers were a little more sophisticated, and well traveled ( many were Jews from the M.E.) and not under the thumb/belief system of the local churches. Scholars such as Margaret Starbird, have referenced 19th Cent.Harold Bayley,Scottish scholar, as postulating that the watermarks from that period were secret symbols from the pre-Reformation, Protestant, mystic, gnostic, groups..They used as watermarks in the paper, drawings of the torture instruments being used to get the word out!

Then there's Maine, it has been a paper pulp producing state for a long while...decimating the woods of trees completely.
Meanwhile in the Middle East; they traditionally made paper out of hemp & flax!
Gee!..What a great idea!
We 3 "mature" students ( one our Pastor's wife) chime in with Prof. and are giving the kids quite progressive ideas. 2 OF THEM ARE FROM TEXAS & FLORIDA......so what they are not getting there they are getting here.
I just LOVE it!

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

to clarify: I wrote the first few lines but the second paragraph that begins Dr. John... are the words of the lovely Lunagardener.
I wanted to clarify because when I read my post I thought hmmm? I don't sing Dr John's song everyday!! then I realized what had happened. Love to you all. I am trying to care for my very restless young male kitten (9 months) who got his "procedure" today. His brothers got theirs last week but they were not so restless afterward.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

QOP-thank you for the lite tutorial on paper making over the years. Imagine using renewable resources such as hemp and flax to make paper rather than destroying all the forests. Imagine that!! And using the watermarks to raise the consciousness of others in danger.
Good morning to all my wonderful Astroworld comrades.

* Demons from the Deep
Awakening at 29
Pisces is one of the many baffling signs of the zodiac. Some are of the opinion that the dream state of Neptune is a sort of Candyland with spun sugar, rainbow hued things, and long sought after kindness from other humans. These ideals do exist, but so does everything else in the infinite inner dimension of the sea god. Pisces is all inclusive. The entirety of human experience is discovered and the visions can be as frightening and ugly as they are sublimely beautiful. And easily intoxicating.

The duality of material existence leads the seeker to an allowance for all the variations and ultimately to freedom from judgement and to the knowledge that experience in every form is essential to the whole. When the opposites plug in and fuse, the integration creates the combustion of enlightenment. Evil becomes good becomes awful and the ebullient unfolding takes precedence over the exhausting effort to compartmentalize, define, compare, contrast, and separate everything, thinking that rejection or acceptance will somehow really make a difference in the end. The futility of human machinations becomes apparent. The whole thing actually works as is.

Before the recognition of futility in Pisces is the last hope of control in Aquarius, at the end of the wheel, where surrender to cosmic regulation is the option that beckons. Maybe a somewhat fatalistic sensation accompanies this moment and the burden can be released with the sorrow included. ... http://raginguniverse.blogspot.com/

* Capping the devil’s cauldron

If I were a religious man, I would take the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, the spilling of millions of gallons of oil and gas, their engulfing of the Gulf of Mexico waters and destruction of fish and wildlife in untold numbers ... I would take this all, mind you, BP, as a sign from the deity.

And if the deity could speak like Mel Brook’s 2,000 Year Old Man, I would imagine it would say, “You, mankind, you have been cajoling me for more oil and gas for 100s of years. The more I give you the more you want. Enough is never enough. So here’s enough, a volcano of oil and gas, a mountain of it, a pox on your house. Choke on it. Now, leave me alone. And if you’re smart, stop it, and don’t fight amongst yourselves like a pack of hungry monkeys. Such schmucks I made in my image, I can’t believe it.” Nor can I, voice, and I’m not even a believer, in a deity or the devil. But jeez, this looks like both of them in a cosmic World Series. ... http://onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_5893.shtml

good articles Joanna but did you really expect or hope the men in black suits and ties would be on the beach cleaning. I see all over the blogs where people want Obama to take responsibility for this and move BP out of the way so the government could take over. I think oh PLEASE if he does that guess who pays the bill, why the government of course and who supplies the government with the funds to do anything, we, the people supply it. I don't want to pay for another bailout of these irresponsible, selfish, greedy lying incompetents. There has to be a way to make sure BP's feet are held to the fire. I am beginning to believe that free market means, "do what ever you want" taxpayers will pay it off.

This oil spill is like Katrina, the fraudulent bank bailouts, the insurance companies, the stories get worse and worse and then something else will come along to grab our attention and these other things will pass, while the American people seeth and the media talks about it like they don't know what on earth is wrong with us.

* Deepwater Horizon

Reality's Blowhole

I mentioned earlier ... last week, in fact ... that 90% of the sea floor is unexplored. The fear of depths looks to be justified if recent events are any indication. There's also logic behind the fact that the ocean has been protected from man's intrusion and 3/4 of the earth's skin is virgin territory. Intimidating.

Deepwater horizon? A new frontier? A port hole from this vessel we're stuck in? A peek into hidden realms? Pluto in Pisces should spin an interesting tale as man [Sic] is bobbing about on the precipice of extensive deep sea oil extraction. It's proving to be somewhat treacherous to the newcomer. Forces of gravity and magnetism are gigantic as the center of the earth is approached. It all points to an awakening of rather grand proportions. Uranus simply breaks est'd boundaries and the Pisces port hole has been busted up as the sea under the sea rushes out. Life on earth. The chosen planet. So who's in charge?

We're at 29 Pisces, down in deep water, where some huge beast in the collective psyche is shaking loose, revealing our discomfort. It's real and it hurts. The eerie black water flowing on to the desolate beaches brings to mind the fundamental loneliness all human beings feel not knowing where they're going, always looking for someone out there to lead them on, forever forgetting that they got this far safely with everyone's guidance. Leadership is a game of musical chairs. ... http://raginguniverse.blogspot.com/

* Experts Propose Plugging Oil Leak with BP Executives - Submerging Execs Could Be 'Win-Win'

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) – At a conference of oil leak experts in Wash today, attendees proposed plugging the massive oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico with execs of BP, the company responsible for the catastrophic spill.

“We’ve tried containment domes, rubber tires, and even golf balls,” said Wm Cathermeyer of the Nat'l Oil Leakage Institute, a leading consultancy in the field of oil leaks. “Now it’s time to shove some BP execs down there and hope for the best.”

Submerging the oil company execs 1000s of feet below the ocean’s surface could be a “win-win” situation, Mr. Cathermeyer said. “Best-case scenario, they plug the leak,” he said. “And at the very least, they’ll shut the f*ck up.”

But even as the oil leak experts proposed their unorthodox solution, environmental expert Marilyn Sufranski warned of the possible negative consequences of plugging the oil leak with BP executives. “The Gulf of Mexico is slimy enough already,” she said.

May 25, 2010 2:10 pm ET by Eric Boehlert

One of the striking talking points that came out of The NYTimes in the wake of its controversial article last week about whether CT Democrat Richard Blumenthal had, over the years, exaggerated his military service during the Vietnam War era, was the insistence from the Times that the story was a deeply important one and one that needed to be covered. The Times, faced with stiff criticism for its handling of the Blumenthal story, seemed to suggest it had a moral obligation, not to mention a newsroom duty, to look closely at the military service rhetoric from a New England politician running in a statewide election. ... http://readersupportednews.com/off-site-news-section/47-47/2051-ny-times-ignored-bushs-war-record

A Shocking Memo - BP and the Three Little Pigs

A shocking memo discovered by The Daily Beast shows that BP, in the TX City explosion 5 yrs ago where 15 workers died and 170 were injured, put those workers who died into cheap portable trailers next door to highly explosive facilities purely to save money. This internal document, referring to its own analysis as The Three Little Pigs, shows how BP took deadly risks by choosing to save money by bldg cheaper housing for workers after comparing the cost of housing people in blast-resistant bldgs vs the cheaper trailers. Did BP similarly cut corners in the Gulf explosion? Do they still consider their workers "little piggies" whose lives' are less valuable than corpo profits? Increasingly it is looking like BP is a criminal organized op that has killed numerous human beings, and should itself be put to death - dissolved - and its top execs put in jail. Three execs from BP, Halliburton, and Transocean each blamed the other for the deaths of 11 men on the Deepwater Horizon in their testimony before congress, yet they all walked out of the room and off to their private jets to fly off to their private mansions - but if 3 people had robbed a gas station and 11 people had died because one of them accidentally exploded a gas pump, and each of the 3 blamed the other guy, do you really think 3 "average guy" criminals wouldn't be in prison right now? Our corpo limitations on liability need to be rewritten, and the entire idea that corpos are people but the people who run them are immune from criminal prosecution for the corpo's crimes needs to be blown up. Visit www.movetoamend.org now to help amend the Constitution and end corpo personhood!

Oh thank you for the birthday wishes! I've worked for the last three weeks without a break so today I managed to squeak out a half day off today. My husband took me out to breakfast which turned into Mr. Toad's wild ride. Nasty thunder storm (which this is the 1st time it has ever rained on my birthday) dodged fallen trees, took some detours ... more food tonight my son is taking me out to dinner. Diet begins tomorrow. And hopefully I won't get called back into work today!

Sally Cheyne McDonald [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Greeting the full moon today we also have Uranus at 00 00 Aries and by June 8th Jupiter will join the conjunction. Jupiter and Uranus together might indicate a breakthrough in medicine, pain control, new ideas that will begin to get started, or planning of a war someplace and there isn't any lack of willing participants to engage in a fight; but for today with the Full Moon I expect BP will solve the gushing oil, i do not expect them to have good luck in the court rooms that are gearing up right now to watch these people sweat. 0 Aries is the beginning of all things new, Jupiter and Uranus together can be very fortunate for many people who have positive aspects to that 0 degrees and depending which house in your charts 0 Aries falls. For the rest of the world at large, something very beneficial for all of us is coming round the mountain, expect it.

Sally Cheyne McDonald [TypeKey Profile Page]:

by the way the last time Jupiter and Uranus was conj. at a 0 degee point was in 1969 in Libra.

I haven't given up on government or at any rate the idea of Daddy War Bucks having the resources to support us as we start out. I support paying taxes (except of course when I find out that I OWE) and I like welfare and unemployment a nd public health care. I only wish that benefits were more generous. I know that we are so stingy with the resources we share with regular folks and just can't do enough for those peddlers of war and death.

Sally Cheyne McDonald [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Right on Clymela. I see where they might try Kevin Costner's invention of separating oil and water. Hope it works, I really thought they would end this whole thing on the full moon, but not. Actually, BP is having problems all over the world with oil spills this last month. I don't keep track of oil spills around the world, so I don't know how often they occur, but I know it's not just us. There are multiple opportunities they take to destroy the ocean, not just the gulf. Sadly, here they have destroyed people's lives, perhaps elsewhere too but we don't hear about it, just the spills.

The Jupiter/Uranus in Aries relates to "me" and there are a lot of "me's" out there and we all think our priorities are the only ones to be addressed. The Pluto Saturn square and opposition to those "me's" will shake thing up and they will all hit the US Venus/Jupiter conj in Cancer creating a grand cardinal square making it hard to finish projects but there will be great starts on those projects, we will need some earth energy to ground those starts into reality, and there isn't much right now on the horizon. Ah well the history of the world goes on. The lack of strong earth energy right now is keeping the economy around the world shaken up and will continue to do so.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Yes, lots of "me-me-me" and lots of finger pointing especially at Obama.

We-we-we are ALL responsible to help clean up. But, those screaming the loudest are the ones LEAST likely to pitch in and DO something like reducing the number of auto-related trips, or turning off power when not in a room, or any or all host of energy-conservation acts.

When the we-we-we understands that their me-me-me acts are part of the problem, then WE'll have a little brighter, less contaminated future.

* ... But there is no shortage of money. The budget shortfalls that are being used to justify the dismantling of the welfare state are the result of the systematic redistribution of income and wealth from those at the bottom of society to those at the top. At least since the 1980s, both rt-wing and supposedly “left” govts have reduced income and property taxes for the rich, depressed wages and created new forms of low-wage work. This is one of the main causes of the increase in public debt.

The trillions [& probably a lot more than we know about] that govts pumped into the banks in 2008 and 2009 to prevent their collapse meant the public debt rose sharply. Recently published figures from the German Bundesbank prove this. In 2008 and 2009, some 53% of Germany’s new debt was a result of measures taken to rescue various financial institutions. The total new debt rose in these two years by €183 bn; the costs involved in supporting the financial institutions amounted to €98 billion. ... http://www.wsws.org/articles/2010/may2010/pers-m29.shtml

* New Zealand govt brings down austerity budget

The New Zealand govt’s 2010 budget, announced on May 20, has instituted a new round of attacks on public services and living standards, while engineering a tax windfall for the wealthy. The budget, which parallels the austerity measures being carried out in Europe and elsewhere, is further evidence that in every country working people are being forced to pay for the bailouts of the banks and financial institutions.

["Elected"] in Nov 2008, National Party PM John Key’s response to the global financial crash included a $NZ800 mn guarantee to the retail banks, aimed at preventing a run by international depositors, and a number of minor infrastructure projects. However, because of NZ’s financial and business ties with Australia—all four major banks are Australian-owned—growing trading links with China and the return of high commodity prices, its relatively protected position helped the govt avoid the huge financial rescue measures instituted in many other countries.

Nevertheless, after the world’s major economies propped up their banks and implemented stimulus programs, sovereign debt mounted internationally—and now must be paid for on a global basis. NZ has not escaped this agenda. International agencies have warned that the economy is heavily debt-laden and vulnerable to any financial turbulence. ... http://www.wsws.org/articles/2010/may2010/nzbu-m31.shtml

Joanna, the wealth accumulation into the hands of, perhaps 5% of the inhuman species, continues to perplex me. Yes, the astrological significators bear it out, but what happened to looking down the road, say five, ten years into the future? It ain't happenin'. There are several reasons for this, but "smart" isn't one of them. It's become so much easier to spew some euphemism, perpetrate cliches (drill baby drill) to keep the game rolling, AND to keep perpetuating a way of thinking that hurts the very people who grab onto those cliches like the rungs on the ladder of fame and fortune. I've often wondered if those 5% are just *issing themselves with laughter. It's been so easy.

We won't necessarily have to wait until 2017 to see the fall of TPTWere... speaking in past tense here because "they" are finished, whether TPTW care to believe it or not. Their undoing has already begun, although it might take much of the decade to see the full effect.

Where do I begin? Wall Street? The BP/Halliburton/Gulf Oil disaster? The whole notion of disaster capitalism as being legit(how much more Plutonian can you get)? It all must come down with a Big Thud, or perhaps in a series of Big Thuds. But things will happen in such a way that demand that people snap out of their dreams and delusions, and PAY ATTENTION. The Gulf disaster is only the beginning of Humanity's Big Test.

I'd say with Uranus and Pluto in close orb (now < 5°), we won't have to wait until the first exact square in 2012 to see some very massive shifts unfold. To say that disaster capitalism and the twisted folk behind it will be exposed for all of its/their ugliness (Pluto) would be an understatement. You're right, Neo. It begins with "consciousness." As the disaster unfolds affecting ground water, food production, and availability of oil-based products (those megacorporations may begin to blackmail the populace if they believe regulations are going too far) many more will become aware of their own shared responsibilities.

As Sally states above, Uranus entry into Aires may produce the multiple shocks necessary to hasten necessary changes.

Joanna, do you also see the forced reduction of energy consumption? I ask that because not nearly enough of the populace understands the NEED to do so voluntarily. The "moral" question about using inordinant amounts of energy hasn't really occurred to them.

Titan: Nasa scientists discover evidence 'that alien life exists on Saturn's moon'

Evidence that life exists on Titan, one of Saturn’s biggest moons, appears to have been uncovered by Nasa scientists.

Researchers at the space agency believe they have discovered vital clues that appeared to indicate that primitive aliens could be living on the planet.

Data from Nasa's Cassini probe has analysed the complex chemistry on the surface of Titan, which experts say is the only moon around the planet to have a dense atmosphere.

They have discovered that life forms have been breathing in the planet’s atmosphere and also feeding on its surface’s fuel.

* Disaster in the Amazon
By BOB HERBERT

BP’s calamitous behavior in the Gulf of Mexico is the big oil story of the moment. But for many years, indigenous people from a formerly pristine region of the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador have been trying to get relief from an [USian] company, Texaco (which later merged with Chevron), for what has been described as the largest oil-related environmental catastrophe ever.

“As horrible as the gulf spill has been, what happened in the Amazon was worse,” said Jonathan Abady, a NY lawyer who is part of the legal team that is suing Chevron on behalf of the rainforest inhabitants.

It has been a long and ugly legal fight and the outcome is uncertain. But what has happened in the rainforest is heartbreaking, although it has not gotten nearly the coverage that the BP spill has.

What’s not in dispute is that Texaco operated more than 300 oil wells for the better part of three decades in a vast swath of Ecuador’s northern Amazon region, just south of the border with Colombia. Much of that area has been horribly polluted. The lives and culture of the local inhabitants, who fished in the intricate waterways and cultivated the land as their ancestors had done for generations, have been upended in ways that have led to widespread misery. ... http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/05/opinion/05herbert.html

Sally Cheyne McDonald [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Bob Herbert covered the issue well, sickeningly well. I've heard about the Amazon region but not too much. The governments and the oil companies do a very good job at PR and covering it all up. As I've said, it's not about oil, it's about money and people will do anything for it, even those of us who point fingers at those who got the richest off the backs of others. We think of the US as being in trouble and we are along with the rest of the world. It just feels like a horrific maize and we will die in that maize, millions already have. Pluto in Capricorn has been nasty and it's just started its journey.

Jupiter has followed Uranus into Aries and the expectations of all of us will be high, some will have those expectations met and some won't. This transit of Jupiter and Uranus starts out as a conjunction to the US 4th house, some of us will find the perfect place to live and breath, that will be nice. We are on the verge of doing what we can as a people. to rattle the cages of those who think they own the US. Immigration, education, sudden upsets by people believing they are acting in the best interest of all, medication, new groups, new findings, all will be a part of this several month conjunction.

Jupiter, the great benific is more comfortable in Aries as it's a fire sign and friends with Sagittarius. Uranus however was once the ruler of Scorpio and while in Aries it inconjuncts Scorpio and squares Pluto, the planet itself is comfortable with Scorpianic tendencies so I expect more confusion and intrigue while in that square. * Slow Violence in the Gulf of Mexico: A Buddhist Response

by Jill S. Schneiderman

The US govt and reporters have gone from calling the BP/Transocean calamity an accident to referring to it as an environmental crime. In my opinion, that’s an improvement in verbal accuracy but it misses an even larger and vastly important point. We are now witnessing in the Gulf of Mexico slow violence. Writer Rob Nixon coined the phrase, which he acknowledges as seemingly oxymoronic, to describe acts whose “lethal repercussions sprawl across space and time.” ... http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/06/04-6

The wounding and the healing happening simultaneously seem to be the predominant forces at play. If we consider small groups to be a microcosm of the larger all, that means my own mirror will tell me a greater story.

To share on a personal level, this past weekend mirrored the predominant energy. The group discussion was about how to improve the health of our small lake. Equally, the group was at odds regarding how to do so. Money was at stake. Tempers flared (mine, for sure). The issue is somewhat resolved. However, in the process friendships were strained. . .may be to the point of breaking.

This is another aspect as well, one that has grown toxic. In our small group, many have "all the answers" and freely offer advice. Very few of us actually DO. Those that DO are recipients of the criticism.

I wonder. . .are all of you AstroWorlders experiencing something similar?

Sally this gave me chills "Pluto in Capricorn has been nasty and it's just started its journey."

This is my latest take on unfolding events.

The US/Brit faction is behind the desire for a global SDR currency (fiat). Euro, Russia, China, Middle East prefer tying currencies to gold. When financial meltdown happens (July/August?) US/Brits begin to threaten control of Middle Eastern oil to get their "SDR" way. Sometime in November? WW3. Due to USA Mars retrograde and Pluto in Capricorn US is defeated. Gold is set completely free of manipulation and becomes the new standard to measure currencies against.

US financial chaos as catalyst for coming revolution/rebirth.

Hmmm... Timmy I would very much like having money rehooked back to metals where it belongs. Otherwise, as we've seen, the pink bullyboyz go crazier than usual. Besides, USia/Brits are always threatening or attacking somebody... way past time to sock 'em down to right size... which is itty-bitty. Of course, even if there's armed conflict the pinkies continue to make out like the bandits they are as they remain the major manufacturers/dealers of WMDs. Doesn't really matter to the insane pinkies as long as there's something to kill.

Was the Oil Industry the No Tell Motel?
As the president again visited the Gulf, reports that come up that Pres Obama was first briefed in April on how bad the spill would be and how difficult it would be to plug the hole. Largely Republican critics have pummeled Pres Obama for being too slow to seize the political responsibility for combating the BP oil spill in the Gulf Coast, now widely thought to be the worst environmental disaster in US history. The WH is fighting back, releasing a timeline showing the Coast Guard was deployed within 24 hrs of the Deepwater Horizon blowout. And the political reality is that because our govt does not have the resources to cap a blown out oil well, the more Obama puts himself into the high-profile middle of this, the more it will politically endanger him, just like Jimmy Carter was harmed when the Army couldn't rescue the Iranian hostages. At least in this case, unlike Carter's Iran, the blowout wasn't the result of Republican dirty tricks. Oh - wait a minute - it was Reagan, Bush Sr, and Bush Jr who executed exec orders to weaken drilling and environmental regs, and Bush Jr who so staffed the MMS that oversees oil well drilling with industry shills and incompetents and turned the other way while MMS employees partied, snorted meth, and had sex with paid "lobbyists" from the oil industry incl BP. Again, the Republicans create a mess that a Democrat takes blame for and has to try to clean up. - Thom

So, it just became crystal clear to me today what Uranus in Aries square to Pluto in Capricorn is all about. We've been talking about the time of the Cardinal Cross and the Uranus-Pluto Square for years, which is one thing, but now it is here, and we can experience it firsthand. We have become pretty familiar with Capricorn Pluto by this point, but now there is also Uranus in Aries. What about Aries Uranus? What does it represent?

We are going to get a taste of Uranus in Aries this year, and then the full on energy next spring. The "vibe" I am getting is that Uranus is going to indicate what we, the people, will do about the corporations, government, energy and all of the corruption in our societal structures. What I see is people breaking away from the structures in all forms and respects... opting out and dropping out of "The System" and doing their own thing, independently, yet with others, working towards common goals, even if from completely different angles. The solutions will be, of course, uranian... downright extraordinary along the lines of "why didn't we think of and do this 50 years ago?" Even as they wither and weaken under their own inertia, the Plutonian corporations and government will still try and clamp down on solutions and breakthroughs. The Uranians, however, will in many cases do a complete end run around their best efforts.

The Real Big Deal coming is that there IS life after Oil, and it really might not be so bad. Aries is, after all, a pioneering energy, and there will soon emerge leaders among the people who will prove by living the example that we don't need the stuff as badly as the Rothschilds and Rockefellers would have us believe. In the end, they too will have to join us, or "die-off" along with their ridiculous and thoroughly rotten ideas of a globally-dominant "New World Order."

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

And you're talking about the end of the "Illuminati"... that would be good.

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

And, of course, they're comic book childish and very unfunny.

Sally Cheyne McDonald [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Just as the Massey Mine accident, the banking melt down and the BP oil spill, all caused by a lack of regulation and all of them costing us lives and money, we have had a ton of stuff to cause us anger and frustration. However we might consider not becoming too stressed over the mess in which we find ourselves steeped. The mess and disappointments will just keep coming and we started down that slippery slope in 1980 and only a few saw it coming. That's the bad news, the good news is Capricorn and Saturn loves regulations and structure and the governments who provide them. Regs and structure will hit us all. we will like some and hate some, but they will come to all as we all struggle against those structures at least until 2020 while we search for a way to get out from under the oppressive hammer of Capricorn, in the meantime with Uranus in Aries for the next 5 years there will certainly be fights and arguments and pushing against structures.

I want to encourage everyone to imagine the kind of country and world you want to live in because we have it in our hands and Neptune conj. the US Moon will help us imagine something wonderful if we want it and will work for it.

* ... Those among us who are horrified at the elite corruption, public malaise, and lack of active revolt against such depredations need to better understand the timing here. The Saturn-Uranus-Pluto T-square tells us in no uncertain terms that calls for reform or revolution are currently premature. Make no mistake, however: Financial, economic, social, and even political revolutions are indeed coming, but not until after Pluto and Uranus begin their 7-pass 1st-quarter square from Capricorn to Aries. That starts in 2012, continues through 2015, and carries repercussions that ripple out through the rest of the decade and far beyond. What we are seeing before then, in 2008-2011, is the sporadic unraveling of toxic beliefs, some of which date back 40 yrs (financial schemes), others of which have been with us since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution (predatory capitalism). These are the sacred cows of American mythology, and their ruin challenges the great edifice of propaganda and hubris that took 200 years to build. In that context, four years of denial represent a relatively brief period. Shaking off our delusions (the American Dream) is not accomplished overnight. ... http://www.billherbst.com/News123.pdf

* Viva Palestina founder George Galloway, speaking to a crowd of around 20,000 protesting outside the Israeli Embassy in London, revealed the latest plan to bring about the end of the siege on Gaza.

Two simultaneous convoys - one by land the other by sea - will set forth on SUNDAY SEPT 12th bound for Gaza. Viva Palestina, the Internatl Committee to break the Siege on Gaza and any allies who will join us will organise the two convoys.

The land convoy will leave from London and travel across Europe to Turkey, Syria and ultimately through the Rafah Gate into Gaza. Co-operation will be offered and sought with all relevant govts and agencies. It is expected the convoy will pick up vehicles and volunteers in each country thru which it passes. The target is to enter Gaza with 500 vehicles.

The sea convoy will travel around the Mediterranean gathering ships, cargo, volunteers from each country. The target is to enter Gaza with 60 ships.

The aim will be to arrive on Gaza's frontiers at the same time. And to enter with the world's largest ever aid convoys. And to thereby render the siege null and void.

Please get in touch if you need further info. Please also sign up to the Viva Palestina mailing list

Please pass this email on to everyone you think might be interested in supporting the new convoy. http://webmailb.juno.com/webmail/new/6?count=1276185242

Mars Saturn in Virgo

With Jupiter and Uranus briefly out of the way in Aries, the end of Saturn in Virgo is Pisces-free bringing a moment of clarity and seriousness as the country contemplates the dark sticky mess [he]'s in. The long Mars retrograde in Leo did not deliver a dashing knight or a sun king. At least not in my neck of the woods.

The environmental catastrophe unfolding is an unusual event, a radical departure from the ordinary news item -- a week or two of blood flying amidst screams of agony as the public does its Dionysian dance with great excitement, relishing someone else's horror on their screens, lovingly described by euphoric pancaked glossed perfectly coiffed media stars. Even torture, a big big crowd favorite is back, but it's finding difficulty stealing the spotlight.

The creeping slow #1 story now is something they'd like to run away from but cannot. It's obvious that the oil disaster is coming from someplace deep in the collective body, and it's humbling. It lacks the circus element so often prevalent in the daily diet. And most of all it's missing the very favorite factor ... speed, followed by the magical disappearing act.

There's a lot more to come. Uranus/Jupiter will be returning shortly as we gradually figure out what to do with our sorrows. They're already drowned so a new approach is on that deep horizon. The event is gigantic and the magnitude still has to be determined. ... http://raginguniverse.blogspot.com/

Is BP Enforcing a No Fly Zone?
Late last month, Mississippi state House Speaker Billy McCoy (D) and Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant (R) started a select committee to look into the BP oil spill and would hold hearings this week. McCoy said, "The people of Mississippi deserve to know how this happened and what the future may hold for this most valuable part of our state." However, earlier this week, BP wrote a letter saying it wouldn't be showing up for the three-day hearings this week. They, after all, are corporate royalty and don't need to respond to the demands of mere elected officials of the state whose oil they're taking and selling to China.

In a related issue, I interviewed extensively a charter airplane operator in LA who said that during the first 4 wks after the BP Oil explosion a area of Temp Flight Restriction or TFR extended 30 mi or so around the Deepwater Horizon and has since expanded to cover virtually every place that oil is in the water or hitting wetlands or land. This rep noted that the command center for the crisis - out of which the Coast Guard and other fed agencies are operating - is headquartered in a BP training facility and, until the intervention of LA Sen David Vitter, whenever charter flight operators called for permission to fly into the TFR they were extensively questioned about who they had on board the plane, and if it was the press the right to fly over the area was routinely denied.

In the past few days, though, since the adm has moved from a position of helping BP cover up the extent of their crime by spraying dispersants and keeping the press out to a position of actively challenging BP, flights are being allowed into the area with press aboard. -Thom

It's exhausting all this anger and mistrust and the demands of this group and that group and the Super Tuesday that wasn't Super Tuesday and a media manufacture to keep the circus going. The outer planets transiting the last signs of the Zodiac is a whirl wind and an intense one at that. It hasn't been this passionate or intense since the early 1500's when Pluto was in Sagittarius, Neptune in Capricorn and Uranus in Pisces,1504 to be exact and 1511 when Uranus went into Aries, so not even then was there this intense world wide pressure, it is exhausting. All they had then was lies, intrigue, turf wars, lots of turf wars, they did not have 24/7 cable, blogs, information coming from all directions without knowing who is lying and who isn't, yes exhausting is the word. We can take heart in the fact the world did not completely fall apart, just beginning to set up for the fall of the church and discovering the new worlds to expand, greed, and killing, the wiping out of the natives of these new worlds, oh yes some familiar themes.

Multinational corporations were also setting up to make sure they were totally in control of these new worlds. I think it's interesting that we are having problems with England and one of their biggest multinational corporation. England is disgusted with us

The Emotional Dimension
Planet Waves

Those of you who are into esoteric studies have no doubt started to make the connection to what this means for the element water. Water is the element of the emotions, and much else. Now toxic material from another dimension is spewing up into the pool of our feelings. If we take this as augury, we can get another kind of picture of the change that not just the Earth, but humanity, is going through. We have an image of what this says about the human condition. This information can provide some clues as to how to handle the issue from a spiritual standpoint.

In the current astrology, there are many watery references. Jupiter and Uranus were in Pisces at the time. Neptune has been getting many transits lately. This event is happening at the first Neptune return of the planet Neptune's discovery. That's to say that Neptune, named for the god of the sea, was discovered in 1846 in late Aquarius and it is now just past its discovery position today.

It is ominous that Chiron entered Pisces the very day of the blowout -- about 22 hours before the explosion aboard the rig. This is a rare event. Chiron left Pisces in the late 1960s and has not been there since. Chiron calls attention to the flaws in systems, and focuses attention on whatever it touches, in general. We know we have emotional issues in our culture. We know from the anger, frustration, confusion, fear, jealousy, resentment and depression that are so representative of our culture's emotional body. We have exceedingly few forums to process these feelings, or to even allow them into awareness. We tend to treat these issues like they don't exist, and rather than address them, we stuff them under the surface, into the unconscious. If the truth hurts too much, there's nothing like a lie to make us feel better -- and that explains why we love to be lied to so much -- why, indeed, we nearly insist upon it.

Now we have an uncontrolled toxic release from below the bottom of the sea, contaminating the realm of feelings, dreams and visions. More significantly, the sensitive, fertile meeting places where land meets water are taking the worst beating, and will take the longest to return to a position where they can sustain life. This region where land meets water is where we go for inspiration, rejuvenation and those rare moments of relaxation. And now that space, on the Earth and in our psyches, is being fouled.

Planet Waves
Flow from the waterfall on the Grandmother Land in High Falls eventually reaches the Hudson River Estuary System, where its fate is to dilute waters contaminated with PCBs by General Electric.
The late Ted Andrews, author of Animal Speak, said of the element water that it's "the symbol of creation, passion and even sexuality. It is the element of all life. It is the symbol of new dimensions and new forces." In other words, water is the breeding ground of consciousness, and represents an inner frontier. If we foul that frontier with millions of barrels of oil, we are basically rendering it off limits. Or we are getting a vivid picture of the toxicity we already carry. How we are responding tells us how we respond to our own inner toxicity. Can we face the truth? Do we sink into despair? Do we give up or face the work that needs to be done?

In many ways this is a physical phenomenon. Our bodies are contaminated with the results of consuming hydrocarbons, from PCBs and dioxins that start off as oil, to the phthalates that contaminate nearly every bite of food we eat if it comes from a package. All of these chemicals are hormonally toxic. They mimic hormones and get into the reproductive cycle -- this is why they are toxic to fetuses, reduce sperm counts, cause hermaphrodism and create diseases like endometriosis. In a recent article in The Ecologist, I suggested that this is having many effects on the emotional content of our relationships. Many of our hormone signals, so vital to human communication, are bungled up. Our sense of gender identity is in chemically induced vertigo.

Totem Readings for Three Gulf of Mexico Creatures

As I witness images of struggling animals in the Gulf, I've wondered what their totem meanings are: that is, what they represent. For those not familiar with this method of 'reading' reality, taking messages from animals is a way of using the natural world as a map of consciousness. The animals all have gifts and represent different parts of our human experience. Today I wanted to scope out this information, so I looked up in Animal Speak three of the creatures who used to thrive in the Gulf of Mexico. I have a report for you. I will leave it to you to determine what message these animal guides have for humanity at this time.

Planet Waves
Pelican helps us float above the surface of the water when life's trials and tribulations get intense. Extremely buoyant, he is basically unsinkable. He is friendly and does not compete with his fellows. This one lives on Tampa Bay in Florida.
Pelicans. These gorgeous, friendly and ancient shore birds were around for 37 million years before humans arrived. Andrews says that a common misconception about pelicans is that they store food in their beaks, which is not true; their stretchy bill is like a fishing net. He suggests that when the pelican shows up, we need to consider whether we are storing something that should not be stored.

Pelicans are cooperative birds. They don't compete for nesting grounds. They have a self-sacrificing quality and cannot sink. Even though it's difficult, they can take off and fly even when their feathers are laden with water. "Symbolically, this hints at being able to be buoyant and to rest on top in spite of the heaviness of life circumstances. The pelican teaches us that no matter how difficult life becomes, no matter how much you plunge -- you can pop up to the surface.

The PELICAN: holds the knowledge of how to rise above life's trials."

This spill is decimating the long-protected breeding grounds on Gulf of Mexico islands. These sanctuaries were created early in the 20th century by Teddy Roosevelt. In the mid-20th century, pelicans suffered a near-devastating blow from DDT, a hormonal toxin which rendered their egg shells too thin to contain a gestating chick. After DDT was banned, pelicans started to come back and had reached a new peak of population before the BP oil spill. Rescued pelicans are being taken to Florida, where they are safe, for now.

Sea turtle, with his land cousins, is a guardian of time, and represents the Great Mother.
Turtles. We live on Turtle Island. According to Gary Snyder, this was one of the names given by the natives to North America. The earliest known turtles date from 215 million years ago. Sea turtles generally breathe air, but under dire conditions can also extract oxygen from water. They are opportunistic eaters; they eat what's available, and thus represent our relationship to opportunity.

Andrews suggests that the turtle "unites heaven and earth" and he refers to it as the Keeper of the doors: the gateway to the fairy realm. Because turtles live so long -- some live for 80 years, and their species is one of the most ancient among reptiles --

turtle is about understanding our perception of time.

"The turtle is the symbol of the primal mother," he writes. "To the Native Americans, the turtle was a symbol of Mother Earth and a reminder that she provides for all our needs" -- if we take care of her. Because all turtles lay eggs on land, they are a link between the earthy and watery realms. In one version of the cosmic story, existence rests on the back of a turtle, who stands on the back of another turtle, and it's turtles all the way down.

Because the wetlands of the Gulf are being destroyed and contaminated, the breeding grounds for turtles and many other creatures are being eviscerated from the Gulf Coast region.

Dolphin is the guardian of breath, which takes us to another dimension of reality. He navigates and communicates by sound. I am praying that dolphins make a hasty exit from the Gulf because the oil and dispersants are not a healthy environment for them at all.
DOLPHINS. Dolphins, too, are world-bridgers. Extremely intelligent, they are among the seafaring mammals. Like sea turtles, they live underwater and breathe air. What is interesting about dolphins is that despite their many reasons to distrust humans, they still offer us their friendship, trust and curiosity. Many divers have been saved from shark attacks by dolphins, and Elian Gonzales, the refugee boy from Cuba, was found surrounded by them. Andrews says they represent the power of breath and sound.

"Dolphins can open new creation and dimensions to a great degree. Water is essential to life, but so is breath. Many techniques for breathing exist that teach how proper use of breath can be used to induce altered states and align oneself with new dimensions of life."

He adds: "When you can align yourself with the dolphin through breathing you can have dolphin take you to all the places and times that existed before the great seas covered most of the world. Dolphin can lead you to underground caverns and the primordial beginnings of yourself."

They both communicate and navigate by sound, which he describes as "the creative life force. Sound came forth out of the womb of silence and created all things. Learning to create inner sounds so that you can create outer manifestations is part of what dolphin can teach."

This is enough to give the impression that the Gulf of Mexico is like a portal to another dimension -- one that is rapidly vanishing, as most of us merely watch.

Yours & truly,
Eric Francis
One year, Ed & I & the kids went to our favorite Delaware Bay beach just in time to find, baby sea turtles hatching and headed the wrong way back into the marsh. We turned them all around & pointed them to the Bay, watching as they reached it & began to swim.

Wow is right! We knew there were minerals in Afghanistan, but not to what extent. Also, i'm not certain that 60 Seconds, er Minutes, was a repeat. However, I saw it for the first time. The Chinese it appears are not only holding assets in Afghanistan (copper mine), but also attempting to infiltrate the power grid. To hold the American people hostage? A greater asset?

Not Made In America may become our worst nightmare. Parts and machinery for power plants are now made in other parts of the world making cyper-sabotage so much easier.

In the subversive media I frequent the mineral wealth of Afghanistan has been discussed for sometime. It has been my understanding that the "war" in Afghanistan is for control of the mineral beds and for a certain path for petroleum pipelines not really to "save" Afghan girls from a life of enforced illiteracy.
I wish that this were not so but I fear that it is and has been so.
I am wondering if the Obama administration has leaked this so that they can set the stage for leaving or perhaps set up a reason for staying. Myself I have problems thinking of killing people so that we can have their wealth. I think that this is covered in the Ten Commandments.

in fact, the timing of this is a little odd. I'm going to go with your reasoning on this Clymela. I remain thankful for a President who reasons and thinks, so perhaps this is another example. A timed leak in order to set the stage for leaving. If corporate entities want to compete for extraction methods, etc., then they will have to provide for their protection. However, I'm not pollyannish enough to believe it will be that way.

* The 8-year occupation of Afghanistan just became the longest "war" in US history. Combined with the occupation of Iraq, we've now added $1 trillion to our natl debt to accomplish absolutely nothing.

This week, Congress will decide whether to waste another $33 bn on these endless, unaffordable occupations. Tell your Reps to vote NO: http://democrats.com/oppose-33-billion-war-supplemental-for-2010

At the same time, "deficit hawks" are secretly plotting deep cuts to Medicare and Social Security. They won't release their plan until after the Nov election, but now is the time to tell them "hands off Medicare and Social Security."

* ... In about 3 weeks Uranus starts to go retrograde, a period of putting together the nuts and bolts of the new venture, the new idea. He will reverse back into late Pisces and then re-enter Aries next March, when the new idea will be firmly established, and new developments coming out of the original idea can arise. But Uranus will be 9 deg from Jupiter by that time, and the firework display will be drawing to its end.

So the next few weeks are crucial for these bold new beginnings.

On the same theme, I was delighted to see Pres Obama seizing the initiative over the Deepwater Oil Spill. Up until now, the mood has been one of defensiveness, of proving to the American public that he is in control of the situation. And then yesterday he compared the effect of the spill on the American psyche to 9/11, and said that Deepwater would shape energy policy in the same way that 9/11 shaped security policy. He announced a campaign to change the way America produces and consumes its energy. ... http://astrotabletalk.blogspot.com/

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Joanna, there's a great deal of anger aimed directly at Obama and the government. But, WE are the government. And, WE must change the way we think, and act. For far too long we've accepted and voted for those who futured this mess via corporate entities. The few voices out there demanding and end to endless wars, to corporate malefeasance have been too few. Instead we have a raging Tea Party channeling the anger at the Other on one end, and liberals on the other screaming Obama hasn't done nearly enough. My psyche feels black and blue from all the assaults.

I've taken a different tactic this time. I'm writing media voices and suggesting a focus on alternative energy inventors, and their products. I'm far from certain it will make a difference, nor am I counting on it. I'm just hoping that we can stop all the yelling, the anger and use this energy to DO something that will actually benefit the planet, the species, our children, and children's children.

If other nations have the technologies to address this oil spill, then the administration does have the ability to accept their help: in response to Hurricane Katrina, for example, Department of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff temporarily waived the Jones Act in order to facilitate much-needed transport of oil throughout the country.

The Jones Act, which is supposedly about protecting jobs, is actually killing jobs. The jobs of fishermen, people working in tourism and others who live along the Gulf Coast and earn a living there are being severely impacted. There are also additional private sector jobs which are NOT being created in the United States since the Jones Act effectively prices U.S. based companies out of the ability to be competitive on the competitive global market.

Sally Cheyne McDonald [TypeKey Profile Page]:

The Jones Act was instituted with absolutely no thougt of the problems it might create for people in this country, it was for the powers that be. So many laws are written with no thought to possibilities for the future and so here we are. This isn't going to be the only problem this oil spill will cause and neither BP or this government knows what it is doing. We have been able to razzle dazzle other governments and the people around the world that we know how to do it all, we do not. The 9/11 hole is still unresolved, Katrina damage is still not resolved, the banks are still creating financial damage without questions being asked, the housing industry has not come back, Exxon/Valdez are still working on their problem after 20 years and BP needs no explaining, plus the absolute wreck made out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

I agree with Karen, it's all of us, we have either created the problems or let them be created by our hapless leaders.

Hawking: Aliens ‘No Longer Interested’ in Invading Earth
Planet Already ‘Pre-destroyed,’ Scientist Says

LONDON (The Borowitz Report) – Reversing his recent position on the dangers of an extraterrestrial invasion, eminent theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking said today that the planet is in no such peril anymore because aliens are “no longer interested” in invading Earth.

“Assuming that aliens have been monitoring Earth for the past month in preparation for an invasion, they’ve probably figured out it’s no longer worth the trip,” Dr Hawking said.

Speaking at a conference of the International Society of Eminent Theoretical Physicists, Dr Hawking added, “Most extraterrestrials would want to come to Earth to destroy it, and let’s face it, this planet has been pretty much pre-destroyed.” Even if aliens planned to travel to Earth to warn humans against destroying their own planet, Dr Hawking said, “If they showed up now and took a look around they’d be like, ‘Oops, too late.’”

The physicist said that the rocket fuel aliens would have to expend to launch an Earth invasion was significant, “and you don’t spend that kind of money to invade a shithole.”

In recognition of his role in deterring an alien invasion, Queen Elizabeth II of England today knighted Tony Hayward, the CEO of oil giant BP. In remarks to reporters after the knighting ceremony at Buckingham Palace, Sir Tony said he would be working tirelessly this week to study the impact of the Gulf oil spill on the beaches of the South of France. http://www.borowitzreport.com/

Thom's blog

Corporate Tentacles

Rhode Island Democratic Sen Sheldon Whitehouse, just after Rep Joe Barton's "off the wall" apology to BP, laid out how deeply "corpo tentacles" have reached into our regulatory agencies in Congress. He said, "The scope, the extent, the insidious nature of corpo influence in regulatory agencies of govt--this question of regulatory capture--is something we should attend to here. It is the lesson, and it raises the question beyond the Minerals Mgmt Service: How far does this corpo influence reach into our agencies of govt? The wealth of the internatl corpo world is staggering. The 5 biggest oil companies just this qtr posted profits of $23 bn--that is a 23 with 12 zeroes behind it--in just one qtr." And now that the Supreme Court has ruled that these foreign companies have full human rights under the First Amendment here in the USA, they're free to drop billions into the upcoming or 2012 elections. Meet your new govt - corporate rule. -Thom

* On the Verge of Collapse

by James Carroll

‘IT WASN'T Sen. McCain's question,'' General David Petraeus said. "I just got dehydrated.'' The head of US Central Command was accounting for the fact that, moments before, while testifying before the Sen Armed Services Committee, he had briefly passed out. Sen McCain's undisguised skepticism about what he was hearing of the American war in Afghanistan was not the problem. It was explained that Petraeus had not had breakfast. One sensed, even through the televised news reports, a rare spirit of unanimity in the political hearing room - a feeling of embarrassment for the general that led the chairman to immediately adjourn the session.

On the same day, the heads of five oil companies appeared before a House committee looking into the Gulf of Mexico oil catastrophe. The business execs were subject to angry interrogation by members of Congress. That all five companies depended on the same "cookie cutter" emergency back-up plan for deep water drilling showed that the notorious incompetence of BP is the industry standard. Not embarrassment here, but anger. About the most that could be said for the oil company chiefs was that no one fainted. ... http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/06/21

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I do love this!

One of the comments by a poster: "As so many of you have pointed out, Petraeus is a war criminal, not a "hero," and the "inbred sense of American goodness" Carroll mentions is nothing but a fantasy constantly fed to us by the propaganda arm of the criminal enterprise that controls the US.

This is what should ring bells: Carroll's assertion that "When a core enterprise of the US economy shows itself, as in the Gulf, to be wantonly destructive ... every citizen (is) complicit in that destruction..."

Most of us are NOT "complicit" in the destruction of the Gulf of Mexico, most of us are NOT "complicit" in Wall St's crimes, most of us are NOT "complicit" in the ongoing tax cuts for the people at the top. Most of us are NOT "complicit" in any of the disasters that our rulers use as pretexts to rob us of the little that we have.

Soon Obama's Catfood Commission will have completed its work, and we will be hearing that we at the bottom, who have paid Social Security taxes on every dollar we have earned, were "complicit" in looting our Social Security trust fund.

We will be told that the Treasury Bonds in our SS trust fund are "worthless IOU's," not like the Treasury Bonds held by Wall St and China, which of course will be paid off in full, with our taxes.

We will be told we have to accept less and less and less, because we can't consider raising taxes on the rich, or ending the wars that are bleeding us dry. ... http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/06/21
