The Bird Word

The recent full moon lunar eclipse ushered in some pretty fiery energy. Bill Clinton, ever classy brought Laura Ling and Euna Lee home ending their long nightmare in North Korea. Cash for clunkers moves forward and the fight for universal health care for every American turns ugly. Jenny Sanford has left King Mark to his mansion in Columbia.

What is so hysterical is all the moldy oldies that the Republicans have scared up who are then bused in to protest and disrupt Town Hall Meetings, all of them are on Medicare! Okay then give it back go try and buy insurance! Lemmings.

Congress Critters on August recess are headed home to attend their district Town Hall Meetings. Town Halls where violent Republican right-wingers with Faux News' blessing, inspired by their bloviated cheer leaders Rush Rush Rush with the Glen Beck orchestra hosted by Shawn Hannity are planning on spreading their hate. SEIU and other Democratic Progressives will greet our Congress Critters one and all, ready to take on the Republican Slime machine. The media outlets are happy to air this insanity ad nauseum. Like all good Republicans when they lose an argument they resort to death threats, and racial slurs. They want you to be afraid, very very afraid. They are the Stepford families who have gone off their meds! What a wild August!

Rahm Emanuel took the opportunity to tell Democratic Progessives that they were the Bird Word stupid for targeting Blue Dogs who are derailing universal health care. Rahmbo scoffed at the fifty state strategy that gave the Democrats the Presidency, and majorities in the House and Senate. Rahm see the hands of the millions of Progressive Democrats (and there are millions), read between the lines....back at you.

The full moon Ascendent was 29 Aquarius 51. The full Moon was at 13 Aquarius conjunct the US Third House cusp forming a trine with transiting Mars in Gemini. Accompanying the Moon in Aquarius is our retro trio Jupiter at 23, Chiron at 24, and Neptune at 25 degrees with the Full Moon Ascendent at the critical 29th degree adding its intensity to this time of change. Gemini is the epitome of mutable, fluxating, change. "I THINK". Aquarius' signature is "I KNOW", the Third House represents communications, transportation, television, radio, the internet. The players, Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune; expansion exponentially, healing through radical surgery, brillance and delusion. These bring a mixed bag of energies to bombard the US Third House whose sole occupant is the US Moon, the People. The People who are hearing, seeing, and participating in the lunatic energies which have run rampant across the political landscape of late. The People who will continue to press forward for change has come and must come for the US to evolve as a Nation.

Riding the wave of lunacy Rahmbo used this enigmatic energy to encourage Democratic Progressives by telling them they were the Bird Word stupid. Let us not upset the Blue Dogs whose rightwing compadres are advocating violence. Lunacy at its max.

Are we on the eve of another Civil War, on the cusp of Revolution? Some embrace change and othes fear it, as Bob Dylan sang oh so many years ago, the Times they are A-Changein.

They probably need the paycheck!
Good article Morgana.
Phil Bailey, today is his birthday, is now coordinating the state's Change That Works campaign.
On August 18 an ambulance will arrive in Washington County and visit
the weekly newspapers in Calais, Eastport and Machias as well as a
stop in Milbridge. Change That Works staff will be bringing the
message that we need health care reform Now not Someday and that
Reform that isn't affordable isn't reform. Today's health care system
is profit driven instead of care driven. There is a solution, it's
before Congress now and we, the people, will make a difference. We'll
be visiting the newspapers and we would like to have at least a few
people come with us and possibly share their story. It can be denial
of care by an HMO, underinsured or uninsured, concern about the rise
in healthcare costs threatening Medicare, having to choose between
basic needs, etc. Our visit to the paper will be far more effective if
we can raise up a local health care story and have even a small group
go with us.
This is a direct spin off of the 50 states campaign! That has certainly made a great change in the political dynamics up here.
He was meting with Sen Snowe today one of the "flexible" players in the health care debate.
I doubt the"powers" woll bus those teabaggers up here......there aren't enough of us to make a big difference.............Unfortunately!
I posted this on the earlier thread..........
If the news carries Sybil Edmund;s testimony,it might cast a slant on the hwole situation, Major players were fingered today!

"the change has come and must come for us to evolve as a nation."

Morgana that whole paragraph preceeding this sentence is brilliant and inspired. Of course this is what is happening to this country, the vehicle may not be one I would choose but it's one that will ultimately bring this government and corruption down so we can begin a new chapter. We are so moving in that direction and "Rahmbo" nor Obama will be able to stop the wave of change. Sadly this administration has placed themselves between a rock and a hard place. Obama will soon have Neptune on his SN along with Jupiter, it will be his one chance to wash the "sand" from his eyes.

Morgana [TypeKey Profile Page]:

qop, I enjoy reading Frank Rich. I wonder if Obama had to keep the mongoose to go after the cobras in the financial world. Frank Rich is calling this the Great Recession, and the morning financial talking heads are saying we're in recovery, projecting an optimistic attitude...the next segment had the worry warts and handwringers and the ooohhhh scary Obama will have to tax the Middle Class, Obama will tax the Middle Class, Obama is going to tax the Middle Class. I did not hear President Obama say that he would tax the Middle Class, I heard something very different from candidate Obama. Next straw man please.

What is really lost is truth you cannot believe any one of them. Not the journalists, teevee talking heads (hmmm maybe Rachel Maddow is an exception), not newspapers, or some blogs. The old adage 'don't believe everything you read' becomes a mantra. In the end though with Obama it will come down to 'the proof is in the pudding', or the long form thereof, 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating'.

So it seems that we aren’t going to have a second Great Depression after all. What saved us? The answer, basically, is Big Government.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Morgana, this is excellent and fits of late with many of my thoughts which i expessed in a comment in the previous thread.

The contrasts in so many of the so-called "debates" miss any central point whatsoever. And, it seems that discourse has devolved into fist-to-cuffs screaming matches.

The media is not performing its function, getting to the bottom of the story but rather reporting on the grandstanding, etc.

This is intense harvest time, canning, wood cutting, splitting, and stacking time. I give myself over to this life-affirming practice of providing for family and community on an elemental level. In fact we finally have a community food bank who thankfully receives bushels of tomatoes.

Sally, what are you experiencing on a personal level? I'm guessing you're experiencing daily challenges. When i read your posts i just smile knowing the power of the spirit is vivid!

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Morgana-thank you again for this wonderful article. I love your particular way of taking the pulse to get just the correct reading and with poetic timing at that.
Hey Sally-good to hear you. I am so grateful that you have the energy to kavetch-what a good sign.
Steve and I knocked down by something wicked-gatrointestinal with some brain effect as well-overrwhelming depression that only lsted hours.
August-a really harsh month. I can't believe how effective the insurance companies have been at stirring up a certain segment of our brothers and sisters. Palen on the tube saying that Obama plans to kill her son born down syndrome is just over the top although I do know where this comes from. It is not in the bill but rather from the European philosopher-animal rights crusader vegetarian who does go on for some length about the damage done to families by disabled children who should probably be killed at birth.God I can't get his name to come up but I will get back to you on this as soon as the name appears on my mental screen.

During World War II, Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse weren't just about entertainment. Film studios used animated characters to spread propaganda and educate Americans about their enemies. And the animators themselves were employed to make insignia for military units and equipment.
........................
"Blitz Wolf," a short by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, features a big bad wolf (sporting a Hitler mustache) unsuccessfully trying to vanquish three little (American) pigs. The movie begins with a "Foreword" reading: "The Wolf in this photoplay is NOT fictitious. Any similarity between this Wolf and that (*!!*//--%) jerk Hitler is purely intentional!" At the end of the film, the defeated "Adolf Wolf" finds himself in hell.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

On an emotional level Karen you are right some pretty dramatic ups and downs. I have Neptune squaring my Sun and Venus right now, while I don't think I'm in denial, neither do I think I am actually facing everything, particularly the effects of chemo over time. Everything I've read or anything anyone has said wants me to know I have to "fight" this. I don't know what that means exactly, because other things say to just accept whatever and with my Scorpio Sun and Mars and Aries Moon I have to say I approach most things as something to be conquered and with my Moon opposing my Neptune I am fairly spiritual about these things and fairly accepting so confusion is pretty standard. I have a dry English sense of humor and can find humor in nearly all situations including this one and I am a doer. So I make jokes to make people who feel afraid for me comfortable and to make myself laugh, I am more of a "ok, let's go and plough through this." I'm not afraid right now but I was in the hospital and absolutely not ready to let go.

I have not been angry or questioned 'why me" maybe that will come after neptune gets off my Sun and Venus or maybe not, this kind of thing is life. My focus is on myself and my healing and real shift in focus for me. I am looking at life in a very different way these days that's for sure. Those are some of my challenges and I can't sleep.

Morgana, seems this entire period through August holds that kind of kinetic "earthquake" energy. It also seems to manifesting in those rabble-rousing townhall meetings.

My Scorpio daughter has a saying she uses frequently, Sally. I've adopted it. "It is what it is." Finding the meaning behind the "is" is another question altogether. Each one of us give serious thought to the transition of body. When faced with serious health challenges, those thoughts must become highly focused. Fear and faith shake hands.

My sister decided not to seek any treatment for her liver cancer diagnosis. She was quite firm about it, stoic even. Caring for her was a privilege. She left my care -- after a month -- for institutional hospice (her nasty husband's doing). Another sister and I became live-in residents making sure she was cared for, that her pain was managed properly. Both of us were eventually kicked out because we questioned the poor care she received. And so, she died alone. Her alcoholic husband -- and absent children -- too busy with their own superficial lives to be with this beautiful, talented being. She visits on occasion, and i'm filled with the wonderful "light"ness of her being.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Sally god I love you. Didn't know that you are Scorpio/Aries-both my parents Aries and alomost all of my beloveds are either Scorpio or have Scorpio highlighted. I love your honesty and faithfulness-don't worry about what people say you should or shouldn't do-you know in your heart what you "should do".
Karen- (((((Karen)))))- I know someone going through very similar life things right now. Leaves my mouth agape seeing how insulated people can become re: your sisters children and spouse even death itself cannot melt their igloos.
I don't get "visits" from those I love but who have passed including my oldest daughter,my parents and my "brother" (brother-in-law in the 70's)but I do find that as time passes for me I have learned so much in my review of our time together- Jupiter in Scorpio in the 7th only planet above my horizon- learn so much through love, sex and death.
Really happy to see so many posts this AM. Love to you all- hope I am not boring everyone with my subjective take on everything.

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Call me nutty but I think passing the "Great Divide" without all the hullabaloo of many times "guilty" family members and friends with all their own agendas would be great! Alone with one's Greater Power... peaceful, quiet, silent, sacred... nothing better imo. Another attending person of like respectful/calm would probably be all right as well.

I once or twice read that Saturn, the "hard taskmaster" with the face of a death skull, actually has an incredibly beautiful compassionate angelic face full of great strength. I believe that and I plan on experiencing this Being when crossing over... again.

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Dearest Seesta Clymela... "subjective take" away imo. According to new physics, there's no such thing as "objective" anyway. How could there be? ;O)

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

It's also my opinion that there's no duality... I had to train my mind out of that one as it was once trained INTO it.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Oh joannaoregon I love you so. I too have "seen"that there is no duality although i often slip back into my old ways for just the reason you deliniate: I was taught to see things that way and heavy Saturn influence I have always loved seeing things the same way my fellows do.
Interesting what you wrote about Saturn-I had come across just that image of Saturn and I was thinking that is only when we give in to our spiritual side usually after life's patient tutoring,(lol), that we can accept death and then see beyond the curtain of duality. Meaning I think that at last we experience enough of life that we can give up on what the "grownups"said.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Joanna, throughout life i have had the honor of sharing a deep friendship with two of my sisters. The sister who experienced the trauma of both pain and the carelessness of her immediate family was, herself, experiencing a quandry about how she raised her daughters. She was also waiting for her abusive spouse to exhibit some sign of unselfish Love. This did not happen. And yes, perhaps her other two sisters who loved her deeply weren't meant to be there, but it was and remains sad to me. And, there are questions unanswered.

I would prefer to share my own passing with those i Love, not some impersonal nurses aid in an institutional setting.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Two days after I got home from the hospital a colleague stopped by to tell me her brother had died two weeks before of the same type of cancer I had. She told me in vivid detail of the agony, fear and pain he went through the last six months, and of the pain his family felt and every detail of his funeral. Then she went on to tell me of her first husband who had died of cancer when he was 27, also in vivid detail. I knew she needed to talk and I sat with my hands folded in an attempt to fight down the anxiety threatening to envelop me.

Then I thought your mother is dead, your father is dead, beloved friends are dead, my adored grandmother, cousins, aunts uncles ancestors are all gone. One day I will die,and my children as will my siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and it won't be long before we are "ancestors." I wrapped my mind around that and then thought of my grandmother and the strength she brought while she was alive.

She had horrible Rheumatoid arthritis, her body bent and knarled, in horrific pain all the time, she never ever complained about the pain. When I was six or seven I was over at her house and my mother, aunt and doctor were gathered in her room and my grandmother was in bed stareing at the ceiling, just stareing and there was a wheelchair parked in the corner.

The doctor was talking in soothing low tones to my mother and aunt and kind of talking around my grandmother (Momma Cheyne was her name). He said "she will be bed ridden the rest of her life and she can never ever walk again, must never walk." This was in 1949 and she was about 80 years old. She never said a word and just kept stareing at the ceiling. The three of them walked out of the room and down the stairs taling in quiet tones of her ill health and struggles.

When she was sure they were gone and could not hear her, whe looked at me and said "Sally get me out of this bed and help me up, I am going to walk again and you are going to help me" Oh, my God it scared me to death because my aunt was a formidable and mostly controlling woman who would fly into a rage with anyone who defied her. But I loved my grandmother more than fear, so I helped her out of bed and said "Momma, we are going to get in so much trouble if they catch us," Aunt Mary will kill me. At that exact moment I didn't realize how determined she was, so determined she was willing to put this precious thing her legs in my hands because I was all she had and she was going to walk.

I did get her up and I went every day to walk her around her bed, watching those painful crooked hands gripping the bed posts from the pain until they were white knuckles and never a sigh or wince, until she could stand on her own and walk around the whole upstairs. She did walk again and walked almost until she died 5 years later of a stroke and I did get into powerful trouble from my aunt when she realized what my grandmother and I had done but my Mom protected me and I didn't care.

For the rest of my life in the worst of my problems I have remembered her words and used them for myself "Sally get out of this bed, we are going to walk." I only hope I can walk through this with the grace and strength she had, I want not to whine (although I fall short somedays) I want not to stumble in spite of pain on any given day. I want my children and grandchildren to see rength, determination and faith in the face of adversity and challenges.

WE are alive today doesn't matter when our energy and spirit is pulled to another direction, we are alive today and we are walking.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Your story leaves me wordless Sally.
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a heroine & role model!
I hope, & pray you weren't battling pain and ill effects of chemo to bring us this story!

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thank you, Sally. Thank you for your grace, and your insight. Each of us have experienced the passing of someone(s) we love, but are unable to express our observations or feelings until we are sharing them with someone experiencing the same thing.

Death is not a part of our cultural discourse. It should be, but the illogical and impudent kings of temporal power have held sway for as long as memory allows.

Were death a part of our cultural discourse, would we live with greater sincerity? I think so. Would we live our with greater appreciation of the Earth? No doubt. Would we live with greater Love of and for one another? Yes, without a doubt.

Joanna, Beautiful!

"you are probably in a state of heightened awareness and have a broad overview of the situation, which can give you an opportunity to plan for future action. Try to accept any positive opportunities that are offered, but allow yourself time to put these opportunities into perspective."
"This Symbol can speak of out-of-body experiences, dreams, seeking transcendence, astral projection," ( ABSOLUTELY!)
"Smack opposite this new Moon is Pluto on Capricorn 2. ( MY POF IS CAP. 1o) This aspect (the Sun and Moon opposite Pluto) asks us to practice forgiveness and compassion, to make changes in our lives that reflect love, beauty, tolerance and acceptance, to put aside the differences that can cause war between people, especially those who really belong together or who should be living in harmony. It promises a new beginning - the possibility of rising from the ashes phoenix-like, to make big changes in our lives. Healing what's been split apart is a very necessary part of this, not only because of the Sun-Moon-Pluto aspect (which is extremely dynamic), but also because the Sabian Symbol for Pluto is Capricorn 2: Three Stained Glass Windows in a Cathedral, One is Damaged by Bombardment. This degree was the degree of Mars in the September 11 attacks in NY. We can see the 'damage by bombardment' that was caused by the planes literally going through the windows. As I've mentioned elsewhere, the World Trade Center was on Trinity Place (Three Stained Glass Windows in a Cathedral), right next to Trinity Church. Trinity Church was completely undamaged - which is astounding and something to be remembered. ( MY ANCESTERS ARE BURIED THERE SOME OF THEM & THEY ENABLED THE BUILDING OF THE CHURCH WAY BACK)

There was another time in my life when I was figuratively flying........back in 1971,last week of July first weekof Aug. ( can't remember exactly except that we were in Miami to do a mural for most of August that year..)
& I can't see any corresponding strong planetary catalyst for that experience. ( at least not as textbook as the recent solstice new moon this year.) Jupiter was 3o past a conjunction of my N Scorpio moon in the 6th H,
We were staying at a lodge on the coast of Maine, my husband and the children went out daily to learn sailing, and I took a box lunch from the kitchen, and went out onto the adjacent island, accessable at low tide by a sand bar, to sketch & photograph tide pools.I was ecstatic, free, in tunw with the tides, and had to remind myself...."no you can't leap from this rock over to that one, because you will hit the barnacles and seaweed, and go falling not flying. No you really can't fly , you just feel that you can!
My first real role model & patroness........( a PITHY Boston, blue stocking from an Irish Catholic family, biology teacher, Scorpio,) ( So that's where I got it! credit where credit is due!) came over & rented one of the cottages with a fellow teacher friend........and because the University of Maine Biology students were there too that week, labeling their sea shore samples on display in the dining hall......the talk was all marine biology.
Teacher John, ( forget his name) decided that since the tide pools were the beginning of all life, and he could draw a direct line from them to his home in NJ, he should run in the Democratic Presidential Primary. ( which was a mess at the time with Nixon in the W H and McGovern, Musky, and George Wallace..... competing for the nomination.)
He got my mentor to drive him to the Bangor airport, ( in spite of the fact that his car was in HER driveway back in VT.) She reported LATE the next day that he had her drive him all over Hancock & Penobscot counties.and she finally called his girlfriend to meet him in Pa. and got him on a plane.) It turned out to be a high blood pressure issue with him...........

This planet must be the ruler of the teabaggers!
http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/090812-backward-planet.html

"I would have to say this is one of the strangest planets we know about," said Sara Seager, an astrophysicist at MIT who was not involved in the discovery."
The bloated planet can be explained by a highly elliptical orbit, which brings it close to the star and then far away. Like exaggerated tides on Earth, the tidal effects on WASP-17 heat and stretch the planet, the researchers suggest.
......................

The tides are not a daily affair, however. "Instead it's creating a huge amount of friction on the inside of the planet and generating a lot of energy, which might be making the planet big and puffy," Seager said.

It seems the big paradigm-changing techno-breakthroughs are finally starting to arrive. Big Oil's days of energy dominance truly are numbered...

New battery could change world, one house at a time
http://www.heraldextra.com/news/article_b0372fd8-3f3c-11de-ac77-001cc4c002e0.html

In a modest building on the west side of Salt Lake City, a team of specialists in advanced materials and electrochemistry has produced what could be the single most important breakthrough for clean, alternative energy since Socrates first noted solar heating 2,400 years ago.

The prize is the culmination of 10 years of research and testing -- a new generation of deep-storage battery that's small enough, and safe enough, to sit in your basement and power your home.

It promises to nudge the world to a paradigm shift as big as the switch from centralized mainframe computers in the 1980s to personal laptops. But this time the mainframe is America's antiquated electrical grid; and the switch is to personal power stations in millions of individual homes.

--snip--

The battery breakthrough comes from a Salt Lake company called Ceramatec, the R&D arm of CoorsTek, a world leader in advanced materials and electrochemical devices. It promises to reduce dependence on the dinosaur by hooking up with the latest generation of personalized power plants that draw from the sun.

Solar energy has been around, of course, but it's been prohibitively expensive. Now the cost is tumbling, driven by new thin-film chemistry and manufacturing techniques. Leaders in the field include companies like Arizona-based First Solar, which can paint solar cells onto glass; and Konarka, an upstart that purchased a defunct Polaroid film factory in New Bedford, Mass., and now plans to print cells onto rolls of flexible plastic.

The convergence of these two key technologies -- solar power and deep-storage batteries -- has profound implications for oil-strapped America.

"These batteries switch the whole dialogue to renewables," said Daniel Nocera, a noted chemist and professor of energy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who sits on Ceramatec's science advisory board. "They will turn us away from dumb technology, circa 1900 -- a 110-year-old approach -- and turn us forward."

--snip--

"I can't imagine anything more secure than generating my own energy with the sun at my house, and now I'll have a way to store it. It's the ultimate in security, and the ultimate in control."

With small-scale electrical generation taking place at millions of individual homes -- as opposed to today's large-scale power generation from a handful of giant power plants -- there would be less worry about what's called "point failure" on the grid. That's when a single component gets knocked out and shuts off power to a whole region. California-style rolling blackouts would be history.

The threat of terrorism has heightened the worry. But wide distribution of batteries in homes would virtually eliminate it.

Much more... http://www.heraldextra.com/news/article_b0372fd8-3f3c-11de-ac77-001cc4c002e0.html

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

That's interesting Neo..because I went to the Salmon Federation's ice cream social today in Machias.
A company showing there has a (Danish, bird safe windmill for only $9,000. It is hooked into the grid, but they are working on technology to free it from that and direct the energy straight to the household. An adapter would make the change over once it is perfected!

Great posts qop and Neo! The solar sheeting was a huge breakthrough, and now the battery! I've been hoping for quite some time that power production comes from individual households. Maybe now we'll see that occur.

Morgana, we haven't heard from you, and i'm a concerned.

Sorry that I didn't check in with you wonderful astrology friends yesterday.Mars on natal Uranus which is the fulcrum of the big painful squares in my chart. Wheee! did I ever get a taste of what is going on right now-and ended up taking yesterday off!! Doing much better right now.
I am amazed by the news stories of the ORGANIZED attack on Obamma. I imagine since I saw the decorated touring bus moving through the heartland that the racism, the threats, all are organized just that the organizers don't arrive in "town" on big buses. That bus seems more like Pluto's mighty chariot than anything else. Trying to stay away and get back to beginning the day with prayer and meditation. This activity to destroy Obama and the Democrats is horrible and I could fall off into some dreadful paranoid nightmare. I guess I will never again say that these times remind me of the history of Nazi Germany in the beginning, not now that I have heard Obamma and the Democrats called Nazis

I don't have time for a long story..but I attended the Blackfly Costume Ball last night in Machias Maine..........( this is the weekend of the traditional blueberry festival there.)
8 or 9 years ago, several young gypsy, knit cap, dreadlocks, "drifters" came here to harvest seaweed, bought the old Grange Hall and settled down in town. They produce leftist propaganda posters about corporate malfeasance.....leave to attend G-8 protests, one spent the winter in Columbia to get a first hand look (TRUTH) of the political situation there. It was in their bathroom ( magazine rack)that I became aquainted with Mother Jones Mag, The Nation & other alternative publications..........(I knew them before finding AW)
They put up a sign saying NO drugs or alcohol, hung a big sheet for showing alternative films, and attracted college kids for summer internships.
They promised to keep the original purpose of the Grange Hall...free for community gatherings.
Well they have succeeded brilliantly! LAst night was a completely diverse gathering, little girls in gowns & tiaras from their costume box ( big girls too) gays in dresses, guys in top hats & bowlers, University Professors & lobstermen, ( even "shudder" NewJersyites!), conservative older community members lining the walls of the ballroom in the chairs watching the festivities.......It could have been a harvest dance from 150 years ago!
It was fabulous...............................
so all of America isn't digesting the koolade!
And this was my AmeriCorps Community 9 years ago.............I was sceptical that this could happen!

My email has been down a couple of days and I tried to call Morgana and there was no answer (and there always is an answer) So I don't know if she's ok, if the fires got her lines or if the wind shifted and they had to go, sure wish we could hear from her.

qop, your "ball" sounds wonderful, would make a great water color.

The health care debacle seems to be getting worse and worse. Pluto will go over the US Venus in an opposition (Venus rules the 6th house of health in the US Chart) and I think we can expect real crisis then, as well as job security for folks or a further fall and the military is facing some issues, while the US will feel in crisis, it's a good time to be thinking of alternative work and new companies.

Hold Morgana in some good thoughts

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Love the "inner changing" mag qop, very nice and timely for all that's going on these days. I talk to people all over the country and it's so different everyplace and everyone you talk to. I think the US is made up of little pockets of different countries. I think Malcolm Gladwell's new book the "Outliers" is accurate.

Morgana is OK Sally, I've been keeping tabs on her & the fire & she posted on my facebook, last night. Maybe the fire has taken out phone lines?
Re: Blackfly Ball /watercolor...........When I was 9 or so..The Saturday Evening Post came in the mail with it's Norman Rockwell Cover. I remember lying on the floor on my stomach studying it. The one where the little dog is sitting in the middle of the alley preventing a huge moving van from
proceeding forward, people hanging out of the windows of the houses and running from around the side of the houses.....
Sat. nite he Orange COunty marching Band cam pouring down the stair at the Grange playing their lungs out, some dressed as Blackflies, people hanging out of the Ballroom windows upstairs to watch, running around the side of the house to see, mercury vapor light from the park across the street illuminating the scene. Earlier in the evening, several huge trucks had come through, carrying blueberries to the plant up the hill from the Grange Hall. The tight 95o turn of the road, ( made for horse & wagon not tractor trailers,) drove the crowd, sprawled across the road back up on the porch........
The Beehive Collective worker Bees had placed big orange road barrels along the curve to remind the crowd ^& trucks of the need to 'share " the road. this group works in a very Pluto in Capricorn style, the postive side of it.
Check out their activities!

OK, I am completely without email right now and probably for another couple of days, so if any of you received bounce backs, I'm sorry. My Qwest provider has changed systems and it's a mess.

On another note, Neptune and the Sun are opposing the next couple of days, foggy confusion, but Mars is sexitling Sun and in a trine to Neptune/Chiron and squaring Uranus. The next couple of days are going to be wild and I wonder when all is said and done if the illusion of Neptune will win out in the end, the fog will clear and all will have changed and be well. Watch for it and don't get involved emotionally with whatever you see or hear.

The Moon enters lively Leo at 9:57 am EDT to bring a new wave of drama as we move toward Thursday's New Moon. Health care reform road trip begins in state
By Jen Lynds

http://tinyurl.com/n668m2
The Service Employees International Union recently launched “Change That Works,” a state-by-state effort to support President Obama’s efforts to fix the nation’s health care system, and to guarantee that workers have a voice in the effort.

Under the initiative, officials with Maine Change That Works set out Monday morning on the Health care ’09 Tour “We Need Reform-STAT.”

The tour began in Madawaska and traveled along U.S. Route 1 to gather health care stories from residents in order to build support for reform.

The ambulance they are traveling in stopped in Caribou and Presque Isle and was scheduled to make a stop in Calais on Monday. Stops also are planned in Eastport, Machias, Milbridge and Ellsworth on Tuesday, Aug. 18; in Bucksport, Belfast, Rockland, Boothbay Harbor and Newcastle on Wednesday, Aug. 19; in Rumford, Farmington and Skowhegan on Thursday, Aug. 20; and in Portland, Lewiston-Auburn and concluding in Bangor on Friday, Aug. 21.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

qop-I read about the ambulance beginning the country wide journey in Maine and thought of you immediately. Oh Yes I know that the words will come as beautiful and powerful as your paintings. wish I was there-yesterday was so depressing with the administration putting out the word that thee Public Option was not necessary. At one point someone on the tv said that they thought this action was an effort to get the "liberals" to demand "the Public Option". Sure was depressing listening to Kathleen Sibelius.

* The economic indicators are starting to look good: France and Germany, for example, have just moved out of recession, and Japan is also set to show growth in the last quarter, after 4 successive quarters of contraction. Some of the banks are showing big profits again, and with that we are seeing a return of the big bonuses.

The financial system is putting up strong resistance to new rules designed to avoid a repeat of the credit crunch, and in the UK at least, the govt seems to be caving in. So it looks like we are gradually moving back to business as usual, with very little of substance having changed.

BUT astrology tells a different story. We are in the middle of a series of 5 Saturn-Uranus opps, the first 2 of which were responsible for the prolonged financial chaos we saw from the Autumn thru to the Spring. The unexpected events that Uranus brings are probably at their most chaotic in Uranus’ current sign of Pisces. ... http://astrotabletalk.blogspot.com/2009/08/zeitgeist-update.html

BREAKING: CNN reporting Dems going it ALONE on health care!

http://tinyurl.com/lpzuw5

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Waiting to hear about your yesterday, qop.

Thanks for the links, Joanna and Morgana. To me, the current healthcare debate is a non-debate, and staged for the stooges. What we seem to be "negotiating" is how many more people are we going to "deliver" to the insurance companies. I'm on the rampage about this. It dawned on me that one of the insurance companys' tactics include the "loss of jobs" should we enact a public healthcare system. Actually, it's the CEO's who would lose their jobs, not those who actually process claims. Their experience would be transferred to government oversite.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

It was HOT (scorching) mid day. so we went into the A C market to the coffee shop corner, soapbox left behind...but we went quietly from table to table conversing, every one was in agreement; no dissent.,I gave my stories to a reporter for the MAchias Valley Observer.and the basic premise of the rally was to gather individual's opinions on a
"medical record" sheet to be put in a folder and presented to our 2 Senators on Fri. in Bangor.
This was followed later in the day, by several positive stories

You're a fucking Jedi Knight ten steps ahead of everybody fucking else.

You KNEW what was going to happen at those town hall meetings during the slow news month of August.

You KNEW the Republicans would start feeling confident that they could knock you out while they had you on the ropes.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

"staged for the stooges" you are so right Karen, I could not get over this last week that it has all been scripted for the benefit of the Am. people. This is not the only issue or the first time I have felt like that, it's like they go so far and then they shift on que. I first noticed it between the Dems and Republican's during the GWB 8 year mess. We have let these people emotionally abuse us for decades to the point where we emotionally abuse ourselves, we vote against our best interest when we can figure out what our interests are. Well the Neptune/Jupiter/Chiron transit is right now setting us all up for the lies and and confusion we have grown accustomed to and seemingly embrace. (US Mars square Neptune influence)

Tom Delay is high on my list for odious people however I did hear him say that guns at a Presidential event or any event is not a right of the first admendment or a law, it's a security issue and they should not be allowed. Why isn't the secret service or FBI taking these guns away? That is just a piece of the confusion surrounding our world right now.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Eleanor Holmes Norton Agrees with you Sally....

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) called on the Homeland Security Department and the U.S. Secret Service on Wednesday to provide tighter restrictions on citizens carrying weapons, openly or concealed, while in the vicinity of President Barack Obama.

Hi, AW, I almost never post altho have lurked here for ? 5 years. As for plutos in leo, even uranus cancer/neptune libra people, you are talking about me: June 17, 1949, about l:26 am in Atlanta. So I have about 11 degrees Aries rising, 7 degrees pluto at midheavean, etc., etc. Am I "wonderful" or a challenged hominid?

Actually I am a scared hominid at the moment. I have uranus at 0 cancer and pluto is sitting opposite it. Funny, I have 25 Gemini sun and 0 uranus cancer, and my daughter has 25 Sagittarius sun and 0 degrees capricorn uranus. She is 20, born 12/18/88 (about 24 degrees Sag rising, and a host of Cap planets there in her first house). She has a court date on 8/25 out of state for shoplifting (!! just learned about it, along with a lot of other not so good deeds by her recently), and I read that 8/25 is a date bad for accidents, explosions. Yipe.

I'm sorry for this personal stuff, rather than political, and your eyes probably glaze over reading about our planets. But i've been reading so long and feel like I know all of you. (Hi, Sally. Been thinking so much about you.)

I have a REIKI cure for that if it is too awful. Just add @yahoo.com to captainbws to write me.....XOXO for ya'll, Timmy J

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Hi Timmy, glad to see you. Is that moon in aspect right now (trine from Neptune and or Jupiter) pretty creative period for you. I'm holding my own with chemo and feel pretty happy about it (holding my own that is)

Hi Marcia, I sure as heck know what it is to fear for a child and the choices they make, and Pluto is all about letting go and transformation. Joanna is right, it's a tough process but helps you breath and helps them too. It's a long road and I've been down it more than once, in fact am on it now with yet another transformation opportunity, can't say I feel yipee skipee about it but no choice but walk into it. For sure all that Capicorn sitting in your daughter's first house will mean a transformation for her too and over several years, I think you might be amazed at how she turns out when she stops being her own worst enemy. With all that Capricorn she will eventually get the point of it all, the Sag will help her. You keep hanging on to yourself and I hope you come back.

Okay Dear Ones, fellow workers, fellow Light celebrators. I so agree with what the Matthew tapes had to share and gained so much from them, so much courage and support and gratitude that the grip of darkness is loosening.
I want to share something that I experienced yesterday but that I didn't feel ready to share until I read you entries this morning.
I walked outside just before the sun was up over the hills to the east but when there was already light. I love to walk outside at that time to be with the plants and the early day. Well yesterday I felt in the wind or something a return greeting from the "world", from the "earth", from "Life" itself saying "good morning, Clymela, love to you and we are always here with you,you are not alone,we are one with you. I was so surprised that I was filled with joy. I noticed a streak out of my left peripheral vision and when I followed it I saw a large, shiny healthy black cat running fast across the boulevard in the front of our complex. When I got to the sidewalk the black cat stopped on the sidewalk across the road and turned and looked at me solidly, stood there on those strong four legs and looked at me so that I would never forget and then took off trotting on those strong and fast four legs.
I am sharing this because I know that life has shared knowledge with me and freed me from the loneliness that my early ego training created-it was nature that did this and I know that this is available for everyone when we are ready to "know" ,to feel it.
Love and LIght to you all

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Yes clymela,I am feeling it too.......I sat at the table in my backyard for break, ( right angled to the meadow, with moose ) drinking in the tall spruce& pine trees at the end of my neighbor's yard that line her stream. The birds (catbirds) were raucus and the smaller ones, warblers I think flitting around in the choke cherry trees laden with deep red berries and entwined with pink wild morning glories, & was at one & in peace.
I hope next summer I can help people to find this peace through art classes..................
yes Love and Light to you all.

qop is right I am catching up on a weeks worth of emails and my sister is visiting from KC. I loved the Matthew post from Joanna and qop is right we can feel it as the change gets closer and closer, just like Clymela's traveling cat.

The "Republic" of the US is winding down too and something different will be taking it's place in a few years, we won't like the first of it as it changes but we will be part of changing it into something new and positive.

The thing I don't get about the money for health care and medicare and social security is the other countries, smaller and poorer countries supplies all this for their residents in the western world. Oh I know the problem, the other coountries don't have the majority of their money going to the military/industrial complex. Other countries have caps on excessive profits, other countries in the western world are more balanced than America.

* Arianna Huffington: Sunday Roundup

Least surprising news item of the week: former Dept of Homeland Security director Tom Ridge's admission that he was pressured to raise the terror alert at the end of the 2004 campaign to help Bush win re-election. In his new book, Ridge says he felt the politically motivated manipulation was worth resigning over. But, of course, he didn't, saying nothing and staying on until after Bush won. Ridge thus joins the long line of key Bush[aholic] adm officials who only come clean when it's time to cash in on their "honesty." Elsewhere, Bernie Madoff's mistress warmed the hearts of Freudians everywhere with her revelation that the famous felon "had a very small penis. Not only was it on the short side, it was small in circumference." Is that why he needed to sport the biggest Ponzi in history? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/

I want to bring attention BACK to the post I made on Aug. 16 about the Blackfly Ball. It was great fun and a social time BUT it is also VERY representative of Pluto in Capricorn! The positive side.
They have been almost "militant" in their approach to creating their collective. NO DRUGS NO ALCOHOL, means just that! In 9 short years they have gathered in, the entire MOSTLY CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN COMMUNITY, helped a lot of kids, produced their anti-corporate artwork for a more viable life style for ALL!
Working to change the community as ONE lone VISTA Volunteer with a handful of teachers & other community organizers, was really carrying heavy buckets uphill! My final dinner ( FREE) was a real coup, 28 people came! ( out of aprox 9,000.) NO ONE RSVP'd I had to call them all the night before so I could tell the College kitchen how many dinners to prepare! There were minimum 300 people at the Ball 8 years later.
Here is their website. They are looking for votes to get a grant to publish the True Cost of Coal poster they are just completing. Go vote and read more about them!

The world is changing. People need this kind of information in

humanity's tomorrow. We are entering a new era. It is one of
peace, enlightenment and mutual support. The days of control

I have even turned off some of the politics wanting to find a way to support those who support the "Public Option" yet stay out of the ugly coming from the corporate conservatives.I am close to hatred of the parading of guns strapped on people. I am so ashamed of Americans. I imagine that this sort of thing is the result of the nightly news always full of murder and mayhem but I can't help but believe that this is also a direct threat to Obama-I mean can you imagine this happening at a Bush/Cheney rally?
Oh there I go-obviously the news of these incidents was traumatic to me. I was actually shocked just as I have been shocked by the news of drone bombings, torture and the building of military bases around the world which is the real reason Americans "cannot" afford universal health care. Well I know you all share this with me so I will release it again and return to supporting those who are acting for the whole and who understand that health care is a human rights issue.

Sibel Edmund's Deposition, video & transcript!
Just over two weeks ago, FBI translator-turned-whistleblower Sibel Edmonds was finally allowed to speak about much of what the Bush Administration spent years trying to keep her from discussing publicly on the record. Twice gagged by the Bush Dept. of Justice's invocation of the so-called "State Secrets Privilege," Edmonds has been attempting to tell her story, about the crimes she became aware of while working for the FBI, for years.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Ted Kennedy (Feb. 22, 1932, 3:58am, Boston, MA) passed away tonight. The Great Liberal Lion has fought his last battle, and he fought it well. Everything we the people have gained in the last 30 years has been due to Ted Kennedy. School lunches, family leave, vacation leave, higher wages, women's rights, school grants for the under funded, expanded civil rights, he helped Lyndon Johnson fight for Medicare in the Senate, the CHIP Program and the list goes on and on. He has buried more family members with dignity than most of us can possible count, he's mostly responsible for electing the first Black President in this country because he said "the torch has been passed" and there are certain citizens amoung us of the Kennedy generation that those words meant a great deal, because Ted Kennedy said them.

Transiting Venus was opposing his Saturn tonight and his progressed Mars was less than a degree away from a square to them both helping him to let go, so his passing was calm and easy for him and I am glad. He was certainly not a perfect man and there were alot of scandals around him, some real, some were made up by those who hated the Kennedys, but he was a constant champion for the people of this country and many of us loved him for that reason, he cared about us.

Poetically I always thought of the Kennedy's as a family riding out of the mists of Ireland to fight some of the battles the people could not fight themselves. I always believed they a Karmic family giving their best, leaving a dream behind for the rest of us. Not even a real dream until we can make it real ourselves, it's a dream born in a mist and it still lays out there to be picked up by us all.

Ted Kennedy dead at the age of 77, and I like to think he's with his brothers Joe, Jack, Robert and now Teddy. Rest in Peace all of you.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

And his sisters Kathleen, Rosemary, & Eunice.
Family Statement........
We thank everyone who gave him care and support over this last year, and everyone who stood with him for so many years in his tireless march for progress toward justice, fairness and opportunity for all. He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it. He always believed that our best days were still ahead but it’s hard to imagine any of them without him.”

My Steve woke me up (he is the chronic insomniac) to tell me that MSNBC had announced Kennedy's passing. I am sad with tears in my eyes. What a servant of the people I don't see the like of him any where right now. A prince in the truest Piscean sense.
I was thinking that even now there is some little girl or boy who is growing up to be a giant for the times-the King is dead long live the King sort of feeling.
He brought me the gift of mercy: I was caught up in the talk of the scandals-Chappaquiddick had really turned my stomach. At any rate one night he came to mind and I started my usual turning away from that thought and then I "saw" all that he had done and was doing in spite of the flawed, rickety vehicle he had to use to bring to fruition his dreams and ideas ,truly the dreams and ideas of "the people". My heart burst wide open and I "forgave " him his failures and celebrated his willingness to carry on and get things done.
Thank you Sally for your words and yes!! to your image of the Kennedy's riding out of those mists'riding out today to welcome home their "little brother"

Also I heard from a very reliable friend, that a friend who had been at the party at Chapaquidick,

Rest in peace, Senator Kennedy.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Hello All! The Lion of the Senate set a high bar, his progressive acts and strident words shame those who would sell their souls, and probably their sisters and mothers for an extra dime. Passing a wide-sweeping single-payer healthcare bill would be the greatest honor Ted could possibly receive. Let's hope he's remembered come voting time.

Current astrological events seen to be jamming a mix of country/jazz/indy/rock-wild music. We're all dancing. The last time these confirgurations were orchestrating behaviors was in the 60s. Perfect time to see the musical Hair, which i just did with my daughter. We both dressed appropriately. hahahahahahahahahaha. And boy, oh boy, did we have fun.

Perfect Morford, Joanna. Another illustration of what we're experiencing en masse. I observed the same schizophrenic sexuality in New York city. Further, it seems as though the city is sinking into a greater abyss of self-absorbtion. I've been a regular visitor for the past 8 or so years. Each time, the vacant eyes, concentration of filthy air, dirty streets, and drumming noise become more pronounced. (Could just be me, but my husband experiences the same thing.)

Another great summation of current events:
http://stariq.com/Main/Articles/P0009708.HTM

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I experienced something soo different karen. I attended a party of old fading gentry last night, out here in the country in a grand spacious Victorian house, a reminant of the "Tom & Daisy" F Scott & Zelda, Dorothy Parker on the upper west side group of people. Interestingly the men seem to be fading faster then the women. There were conservatives & progressives there but that wasn't divisive. Talk was of art etc.
One Gentleman, from an old monied family whose ingrained gentlemanly behavior was programed in by his Mother while he was still in short pants.....
has been critical of T Kennedy in the past, (his womanizing drinking behavior not his politics) Joan K was frequently his tennis partner & he defended her side of the story... was overheard last night, praising and defending Ted rather than the unconscionable bashing coming from the new clueless right!
He walked me to my car at the end of the evening even tho there are no muggers within 300 miles of here!
I made & took crackers out of bread dough as per your recipe karen.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Oh qop! I noted also that elderly NYers were far more gracious than their young counterparts. Civility is the word i would use in this regard. In fact, my positive -- in fact shiny -- encounters were with those white hairs (I can say so, because mine is white as well.) who graced me with smiles.

You can't believe how excited i was to hear about the crackers! How did they turn out? Did you dress them with sesame seeds? What dough did you use? There are so many things you can do, add cheese, for instance, etc.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I used my standard Ego BAtter Bread from a LHJ or G H mag in the 60's. 2 C hot water, 2pkg yeast, 2TBSP sugar, 1 TBSP salt, 1/4 C veg oil, 6- 6 1/2 C flour. knead rise, form loaves bake 400o for 35 min.
I used 1/2 King Arthur white & 1/2 Pillsbury whole wheat flour and added 1/4 C wheat germ and about 1/2 C of chopped mixed nuts; pistachio, cashew, hazelnut brazil, peanuts almonds......
One pan of crackers I sprinkled with sesame seeds.....I managed to get the dough rolled out pretty flat. Last try the crackers were too fat & puffy!
Now if I could just get my pepper jelly to jell!
I used 1 box of powdered pectin ( forgot & added it to the pureed peppers, sugar & vinegar, before I brought it to a boil. It has boiled and simmered for 5 min. & it is sitting there.......as runny as pancake syrup!???????
ANy suggestions?

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

qop, prick your crackers with a fork and they will remain fairly flat.

Your pepper jelly may set up after you've canned it. My peach -- what was to be syrup -- became jelly after canning and then sitting for awhile. It should be fine.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Good Morning/Afternoon Dear Ones-don't know what to say qop about the jelly but I would second what karen wrote. Actually if there is any thickening at all that could be a sign for after it sets up a bit.
I just made vegie chile for the crowd here today and I can hear a crow calling outside-still summer and one of our five or six hot days but the chili and the crow bring turning leaves and misty walks to mind.
I have really been grieved by Kennedy's passing. Someone wrote that the Dems will now get a spine-oh I pray but I fear that they will turn even more craven, wiggling on their bellies to do what the money guys want. The talk of the co-op approach is disgusting and so is Obama.
I have heard so many beautiful speeches that Kennedy gave that were NEVER broadcast oh no!! we get the literal poop from the right wingers! I am afraid that the brain washing of this huge country is so successful that there is no hope of change short of a massive upset that knocks folks back to their knees and they are left with no choice other than to truly love their neighbors.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Oh good, thanks karen!
I not only pricked the crackers, I precut them in squares.
Ted Kennedy is not gone......."the Dream begins anew." It is now up to us, with his oversight!

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

qop-your watercolors are glorious-there is a fullness, a fatness in your work that I just love.
Also, so glad that your pepper jely did in the end set-up.
A friend mentioned Teddy Kennedy's years of drinking and carousing-she is still judging him in the manner of the right wing propaganda even though now we have learned that the right-wing even encourages sexual license in "leaders"-thinking of C St. here. I remember my mother complaining about Dr. King's poor morals and having to point out the ridiculous position of worrying about sex in light of his murder. My mother bless her heart "got it" immediately and was ever after that more comfortable living in the world of mystery.
Chris Hedges piece in the Nation should be a book-maybe someone will at last tell the story of Senator Frank Church whose unexpected death in the airport changed the direction of history.
Teddy Kennedy gone now and Frank Church once again thought about-what a week.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

FORGIVE ME PLEASE:I thought that it was Sen. Frank Church who dropped dead in the airport on his way home to report his findings in Vietnam but I was wrong. See I am guilty of planting misinformation because I looked up his biographical info AFTER I sent the email.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Pluto at 0 Capricorn is poised to go direct on September 11th and begin our long journey of a fight against big business and the people, a new revolution if you will. First however we will have to come to grips with what we are losing and how we lost it and who will keep up the good fight. This is the most recent article showing the way of the future for Europe and the US. Japan has already shown the direction they are headed with their newly elected conservative party.

Claudia Dikinis said years ago that when Pluto went into Capricorn we would see just how much corporations own us and I said they would be doing their best to take us back to the feudal system of government, they've been working on it for years. http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/aug2009/acad-a31.shtml This is happening in this country as well in education, health care, military, all manner of things the corporations are slowly taking us over, not so different than it was in the 1700's.

I'm more sure than I have ever been that there will be another revolution in this country when Pluto gets to it's 1776 placement, I'm just not sure whether it will be from the right or left of this country. As Ted Kennedy was fond of saying "the dream lives on," and so it does, the dreams of what we thought we were and what we wanted to be from the beginning of this country.

No matter what people thought of Ted Kennedy, everything that has improved our lives the last 25 years has come from Kennedy's fight for the people and there will be new ones rising to remind us of the dreams, the hopes, the possibilities but there will be an uphill battle for it all but it will be there and we will need to continue our support for our own communities in everyway we can.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Oh, I remembered with the passing of Ted Kennedy that I said Dennis Kucinich star would be rising this next year, this just could be his opportunity to stay his course and raise his voice, like Kennedy did as the 80's unfolded.I don't believe this is an end to an era because Teddy died, I believe the voices will go on and rise, lots of Kennedy's out there and lots of people inspired to pick up his mantle. The Kennedy's excited us, inspred us, challenged us and changed us in time, they will rise from the mists again, Maybe their name won't be Kennedy, maybe it will but their ideals will rise again.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

A chilling article, Sally, and an example of the corporate-induced coma the world is in; the lies perpetuated to ensure greater control.

Right now the "tea baggers" are raising the roof with loud animal bleats, anger fueled by those same corporate programmers. All of us, to one degree or another, have been programmed to believe false notions fed to us by a corporate-led media pandering to our fears.

Will the careful images constructed by numerous corporate entities be demolished during Pluto's transit? Would that, in turn, lead to a national mental breakdown? Our lives are are bound by the tentacles of treacherous despots. Small things like fresh food have become more expensive than "prepared." Corporate farms, corporate schools, corporate government, meaningless lives.

We need Dennis Kucinich and others like him to open the curtain on Oz. It's dangerous work, as it is for all those who speak the truth.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I posted a couple things yesterday and when I tried to check & see if there was a discussion. I couldn't open AW. Today it seems to have dropped several posts.?
On DU ( post also gone this AM) someone observed that Teddy had had the last laugh in planning his own funeral. ( I am hampered here because I am not familiar with Catholic ritual) His Grandchildren did the statements ALL quotes from Ted's speeches through the years, ALL concerning empathy for the less fortunate: requiring the congregants to respond " In God's name" concluded with Teddy Kennedy III reciting his Grandfather's speech from the convention last year ending with "and the dream will go on".

I set aside the day, discovered how to enlarge the livestream to my full 20" monitor, and watched the entire funeral service, and procession to Arlington.
I think this has been a transformative moment for both his sons, Patrick & Ted Jr. and I predict that they will both grasp the torch and carry it forward, with very young and adorable Teddy III, and Max Allen ( Kara's boy), following their footsteps in time!
We have focused on JFK and Bobby's kids for this.... but it will be Ted's line that continues!
Yes I got this e-mail from Dennis Kucinich.:
I wanted to share with you a comment that I wrote and subsequently was published in Time Magazine, some 40 years ago. I wrote this comment about Ted Kennedy as a private citizen before I began my public career.

Time News Magazine, January 24, 1969, Vol. 93, No. 4: Ted v. Teddy - Sir: Senator Edward Kennedy’s victory in the contest for Democratic majority whip (Jan. 10) is a significant event in the Democratic Party’s move toward effecting a liberal stance in the formulation of party positions on key issues. As majority whip, Kennedy will do much to accomplish a rapprochement of liberal factions alienated in the travesty at Chicago. This is a good Ted Kennedy, for the Democratic Party, for the people. They're Still Dangerous While They're Dying-- But They ARE Dying

I think that we are going to get health care reform within the next eighteen months.

Yup... same old same old... nothing new. Now "princes, kings, counts, etc." are called CEOs. Nothing new, nothing different & too, too bad. Same old battles to not suffocate but to breathe. Same old supercontrolling torturing dualistic mega-self-centered coots/vampires of patriarchy.

But the biggest jolt comes from the woman in the executive chair: Arison -- billionaire ($2.7 by Forbes's most recent estimate), perhaps the richest woman in the Middle East, a major force in Israeli philanthropy -- claims that she can see the future. This is much bigger than a parlor trick. In her new book published this summer in Israel, the 51-year-old Miami native says she felt the Indonesian tsunami sweeping over the land two months before it happened and sensed Hurricane Katrina pummeling New Orleans.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Jeeze I think my ex did some mural work for him in Miami! His name was so familiar to me, that I called it out before it was revealed inthe artoicle about his daughter!

marcia [TypeKey Profile Page]:

This is pretty late, but Thanks, everybody for the support and perspective you gave me when I was writing about my daughter’s shoplifting charge. I still feel a little like I should be defending my Pluto-Leo, Uranus-Cancer, Neptune-Libra generation since we seem to have such a bad rep, and myself even (Pluto-Leo, in the 5th yet, equals horrible mom?) but I’m going to try to resist getting into all that. Except to say---I’m nice, really.

I know I should be more on topic, and less personal, here, but usually don’t feel like I have anything much political to add---I enjoy everybody’s posts, whether I totally agree or not. And don’t know enough about astrology to contribute on that subject. (Altho, I’m interested in how some facial features seem to go along with some signs. Scorpio eyebrows? Virgo noses? Am I crazy?)

I live in the DC area. I’m a longtime marcher here, in marches against the war since 2002, and marches for Palestinian rights. I would like to do something else---write letters to the editors of out-of-state papers? Does anybody here do that? People who write letters to WaPo are usually with it, and in fact experts in something who really have something to add. I think maybe papers in my home state could benefit from being enlightened by me (!) but I haven’t done anything about it. (That’s Georgia. Actually AJC prints a fair amount of left-leaning viewpoints. Augusta paper is too rabid right to print me.) Then again, maybe letters to the editors are too old-fashioned and I should be blogging.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Marcia, How did you make out at the court hearing? Hope it went OK, and your Daughter learned a life lesson.
The AJC is left leaning I get their daily multiple e-mails.......how that started I don't remember,.....but they are like the Phila Inq used to be.
How about sending letters to the Savannah & Charleston papers? Cerainly SC could use some enlightenment!
How about blogging on Huffington Post. I have been comenting there for several years They e-mailed me last year to invite me be a regional poster during the election.
AZ, TX, & mid western states need education too so they'll start voting differently. Why ot? WHat have you got to lose?
Have fun!

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

WHy Not!

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Marcia, where did you get that Pluto in 5th constitutes a bad mom? Pluto in Leo says a powerful impact on your children for good or for ill. Your daughter is still a little young to determine you were a bad mom or for you to listen to her. She has to grow up first, see herself first, have some time for reflection. In time she may discover that you were a powerful Mom for good in her life. Have a little faith in her and yourself and let the magic of time heal her wounds or what she sees as wounds.

I'll tell you, I have 4 kids and I learned ever so early that no matter what happens to them it's Mom's fault. My youngest is 29 on his first Saturn return and he's just starting to figure it out but I am still to blame for ever so much, like I didn't try to stop him from going to a state where he didn't know anyone and didn't have a job and the state was all Morman and he got sick (a bad cold) he's just getting over that "it somehow must be Mom's fault. My older children from 33 to 40 are now looking at me as a person and even asking my opinion and they've been wonderful during my illness, even the youngest son.

No one is all good or bad and you don't need to beat yourself up, we do the best we can on any given day and I can tell from your posts that you certainly did try to do your best every day.

* "Thank you..."

That’s what over 50,000 people called out, over and over, standing in the rain as Ted Kennedy's body moved thru the streets of his state on its way to Wash. They knew him and he knew them; they knew he cared for their problems, worked tirelessly and often personally on their behalf and they wanted the opportunity to show their appreciation, one last time.

How many of us feel the same way about our Senator? Ted was the most liberal of the Kennedy boys — Jack had mind, Bobby had soul … Teddy had heart. It was tested and stretched during his long years; and he used it to make this a better nation.

Teddy knew how to throw a wake and produce a funeral; he had lots of practice. What we saw yesterday was orchestrated by none other than Himself, its political subtleties … and some, like the not so subtle g'children’s offering … by design. The televised 3 hr tribute to Ted was genuine in its emotion, solemn in its grandeur and extraordinary in its humanity … with Obama deftly sidestepping overt politics which would have raised cries of Wellstone, creating another shitstorm … and I cried thru the whole thing — no, not cried; I wept, slow, steady tears. ... http://polwaves.planetwaves.net/

Linda Schurman doesn't seem to have much faith in the Obama administration:

My take is that President Obama is a Faustian figure; a man who has made a deal with the Devil in order to attain this high office. The Devil, in this case, is composed of the financial “cabal” of bankers and corporations who have controlled America for a long time. The Roosevelts had their own money and historic stature as did the Kennedys. Obama, who, relatively speaking, came out of thin air, has defined himself by marching through the established corridors and pathways to success – top student at Harvard and Columbia Universities, being popular with everybody and stirring up no controversy. If he had been in any sense “controversial” as an African American in the U.S., he probably would not have gotten to first base. He paid his dues and has also paid a big price.

Thanks for the newspaper info Pat. I will look into those papers. Oh, court was just a 30-second arraignment and not-guilty plea. She has to go back there and take a day-long course about shoplifting, and then the bigger court date is 9/24.

Sally, you said: “where did you get that Pluto in 5th constitutes a bad mom?” Well, “horrible” was an exaggeration. But I thought it might mean power struggles with children, and I’m not sure that really characterizes my relationship with my two. My kids aren’t really giving me a “bad mom” message, and I’m not particularly kicking myself. It’s just a hard situation with our daughter, with one blow after the other this summer.

Guess I’m responding to comments that a nice Pluto-Leo, Uranus-Cancer, Neptune-Libra would be hard to find. Why? Do people think we Pluto-Leos were so numerous that we got all full of ourselves? Well, we had some nice music, but it ain’t all beer and pretzels being from a large generation---there is so much competition for valuable things, like jobs. I’m interested in demography and have read that, and it certainly has been true of me. Anyway, I’m interested why some of y’all don’t go for this combination of planets.

It’s a beautiful day here in my Maryland neighborhood. Maryland is so pretty. Such nice, moderate weather. And I read it is the 3rd most liberal state. Does that sound right? Well, the 4 or so populous counties vote liberal. The rural ones are red.

This was not true of Franklin Roosevelt and the Democratic Congresses that enacted the New Deal. With the exception of the Emergency Banking Act of 1933 (which gave the president authority to close the nation’s banks and which passed the House of Representatives unanimously), the principal legislative innovations of the 1930s were enacted over the vigorous opposition of a deeply entrenched minority. Majority rule, as Roosevelt saw it, did not require his opponents’ permission.

* Seventy years since the beginning of WWII

The outbreak of WWII 70 years ago today set in motion a chain of events that was to result in the deaths of up to 70 million people. Over the next six years, the war saw the eruption of barbarism on an unimaginable scale—the horrors of the Russian front, the fire-bombing of Tokyo and Dresden, the mass murder of 6 million European Jews, and the dropping of the atomic bomb on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are some of the events that immediately come to mind.

It is often said that in war, truth is the first casualty. Seven decades on, all the official organs of public opinion are still working overtime to cover up the causes of the war and the lessons to be drawn from it. ... http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/sep2009/pers-s03.shtml
