9:16

We're not in Kansas anymore Toto

The President, media pundits, talking heads and politicians alike took time out of their busy schedule delivering 24/7 gloom and doom on the economy to throw out a shot in the arm of hope tonight. WE WILL BE OK, WE CAN DO IT. What no one has said, is do what? Why won't banks with their new found trillion in tax money, loan to anyone in the country? Why are people still losing money on their pensions and 401K's, why? The Banks seem to have plenty of money and talk about how GWB made them take the money, so why don't they give the money back? No one tells us exactly what problems we are facing.Very Oz like I think.

The one story of the Florida quietly taking his $60 million bonus for selling his bank and dividing it ALL up between ALL of his employees including 72 that no longer worked at that bank is a story worth repeating over and over on Wall Street.

Tonight was a good night for Obama and his message of "hope" I cannot say I was inspired because I wanted to hear some detail of what is the exact problem. We are told there isn't any money but where did it go and why does Wall Street and the bankers keep behaving as if the party will never end.

The speech started at 9:16 with Libra on the ascendant and its ruler Venus close to the cusp of the 7th house in a sextile with Mars, and of course the Pisces New Moon in the 5th house of fun wispering sweet nothings to us that all will be fine, reinforced by Neptune inconjunct the US Mercury and conjunct the US progressed Mercury. The message of those two aspects would be, "it's fine now isn't it, all is fine, but why don't all the colors match." We left this speech slightly reassured and confused. NN, Jupiter, Mercury (inconj. the US Sun) Mars, Chiron and Neptune in "we are all in this together" Aquarius, only we aren't sure we want to be all together in this mess.

The GOP acted like visitors to a Catholic Church which has a lot of stand up, kneel and sit down, only to stand up again. Non-Catholics in that situation look around to see what everyone is doing and hesitant about whether they should do the same. You could see the Republicans looking at one another with the question on their face "should we applaud, should we stand" what should we do?" So much of the speech was about things for everyday people and with national TV cameras trained on them, they had to have their own everyday constituents in mind. Who isn't for the working stiff (us) getting a fair brake and who isn't mad at the Bankers.

I don't know where and I don't know how but there is a shock in store for all of us with transiting Uranus in a square to the US natal Mars and opposition to the US Neptune. That Uranus is also opposing President Obama's Mars, and for the rest of the spring and summer Saturn is going to traipse back and forth over the 21/22 mutables. Change, shift, repeat comes to mind with this energy.

The New Moon does trine the US Jupiter, so perhaps some relief is in sight, in fact the stimulus package will give some relief for a time, a bit of uplifting, it also gave Obama the opportunity to put the GOP between a rock and a hard place. They don't know what to do or how to act as they alternatively behave like the Scarcrow, Tin Man and scared Lion. The world seems to have shifted out from under their feet like it has from under ours.

The New Moon was conjunct President Obama's Chiron and oppose his Pluto, power behind his words for sure, but another sign of a shift toward the change (Chiron) we are going to experience, at least that's what they tell us.

All the planets fall in a bucket covering only 4 houses, a bucket is a hole and when planets fall into that it's hard to get out of the hole so one looks for a handle and that handle in this chart is Saturn; hard work and only hard work will get us out of that hole.

Transiting Mercury was also sextiling Venus so we heard some pretty words, but did we hear the truth? To a certain extent we did hear the truth, and yet Neptune made sure we didn't hear all of the truth. It is true that we can change things, we can work together and be a better stronger nation, we can be a leader in green energy and community building, we can stand strong against those who would destroy us, but the question remains "who and what is after us?"

After all these years I am still asking and wondering "who" is behind the curtain pulling the levers. What do you think Toto?

I don't know Sally..............but I am so involved in my own situation, that I must shut out the negative.......( moi, who has been screaming "the sky is falling" for these 5 years or more.)
For the last 58 years, my efforts have brought a reward...........now I have to push my self to exceed my past efforts, with possibility of none!
Saturn is conjunct my N Nept. oppose my N Jupiter which is soon to be conjuncted by T Uranus.........
Barbara Boxer interviewed on MSNBC, said at least 3 times the speech made her so happy.......I want to be with her!

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I do too qop, I just want someone to tell me what is going on and no one has. I do believe however that Obama did tell us what he would do and what we all have to do with whatever is going on. I do think he will stand firm no matter what. I laughed at some pundit over his comment that the polls were going up and people didn't seem to see that Obama was going "centrist left" I loved that, and agree, go left young man go left.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Wow, Sally. Were you up til the wee hours?

No, we did not hear the entire truth. That would send the masses into a frenzy. And that may yet happen.

The pieces of the puzzle include Nixon removing us from the gold standard, Reagan giving free reign to corporations, Clinton creating free-for-all trade, and the Bush's polishing the military industrial complex. So, where did all the money go? Was it ever there? Or was it all a myth? If the latter than the entire truth would have to be wrapped in fantasy language.

It's quite the mess, but the majority of the world's peoples bought the fantasy. Believed -- even though the evidence was lacking -- that they too could acquire material wealth. This, to me, is the greatest tragedy.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thank you so much for putting into complete thoughts and full words the feelings I had last night when the speech was over.
He hinted about SSA but said nothing except that he will talk about secure savings accounts that individuals manage on their own. HMMMM! Is that anything like what the IMF,NWO has practiced in Chile, other points in Central and South America?
And yes it is good for those who have so much to pay more for the privilege of being US citizens but are we going to charge FICA on ALL earnings so that there is enough to cover the Baby Boomers of which I am one born in 1947 ( I hate that term). My group pays for our parents and ourselves and we need a PR campaign to change the idea that we are selfish, blood sucking creeps taking all the wealth from our children and grandchildren.
WHEEW! got on a rant there but Sally I am with you I need to see more and I need to hear much more specifically in order to relax.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Must say that I love this site-Sally and Karen posted while I was ranting and offered food for thought. Good morning Astroworld.Love and good will to you for the day.

Morgana [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Morning all,
Sally you captured what I was feeling. I did not feel all warm and fuzzy last night. I want Obama to spell out succinctly what the state of our country is, who did it and all those bankers responsible for the disaster brought to ruin and maybe that will be justice.
I didn't like hearing 50% of our troops out of Iraq in 19 mos leaked to be buried in the news dump. If I hear one more time the Social Security is an entitlement, then give me every damn dime back that I have put in for the last forty some odd years.
I want details not generalities. I don't trust der gropenator to fairly distribute the monies from the Fed.
Makes me wonder if they are trying to head off the riots and protests Europe and even China are experiencing, of if they are happening around our nation and there is a news blackout?
Do I feel better then I did before Obama's speech? No.

Marta [TypeKey Profile Page]:

humpf! Soaring rhetoric will not get us out of this hole. While watching the speech I couldn't shake the feeling of how fake it all was and that the truth was not being told. The camera would pan faces and more than a few had either grim smiles or looked like they knew something that wasn't being said. Nancy Pelosi looked like she was on speed. A real energizer bunny, jumping up and down. All she needed was pompons.

SO much going on I didn't note their birth date.......... They were born on the Jan 26 eclipse! Aqu. sun & moon! They are Indigos here on a mission! ( or the color group following the Indigos!)

Timmy J [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Hi Sally and all! Where did the money go??? Derivatives! The US banks are permitted to play in an unregulated, thanks to Greenspan, casino where they place bets in the TRILLIONS. The bets are placed based on computer modeling of known risks. The bets are kept off the books as "marked to model", until a black swan event (unexpected by the model) blows the bet and it must be paid, and "marked to (the) market". The big banks which play this game are betting in $ values exceeding their net worth. If one goes down, it takes others with it. Bear Sterns went down. Here is a link with an expanded explanation http://www.financialsense.com/editorials/weiss/2007/0813.html
This of course is the mundane explanation. We know Pluto's cycle is at work and if you believe Martin Armstrong's cycle prognostications, we are at a downward inflection point in the business cycle (see March 19th, 09), at the most violent end of a multi wave business volatility cycle, and at the end of the US political cycle of 224 yrs.....Many other factors are in play such as a global economy based on the false nature of fiat currency......The US has bullied the world with its reserve currency status and inflated the dollar AND treasury bills past the ability-to-pay status. Several countries, Germany, Russia, China, and the oil states, are about to announce a new global reserve currency based on a basket of their currencies. The US will be left-out in a 3rd world status......Last nights speech by Obama was a dog and pony show. He should have been telling us to get ready to live locally and put stimulus money into gardening tools. The next two months should reveal the new currency. I'm looking at March 19 as a possible date. Follow Jim Rodgers of The Hat Trick letter to stay up-to-date. His essays are sometimes found at The Golden Jackass......The US will try to keep its currency above .52 on the dollar index (curently at about 85), probably by promising not to inflate any more and pegging the dollar to a percentage of gold, like the Euro. Watch for news of something called the new Gold Certificate ratio. To stay up-to-date on that, follow Jim Sinclair. 85 down to 52 is quite a drop in the value of your money. Expect to pay much more for a can of beans or a gallon of gas. Pray the US doesn't play the military card..........Timmy J

person [TypeKey Profile Page]:

gee, lots of whining here. I really liked Pres Obama's speech last night. I found it uplifting, quite refreshing, and reassuring. He covered a lot of ground.

I was so happy for Nancy Pelosi, and her excitement is well justified! For years, including 2003 - 2007 as Minority Leader, she and the rest of us had to listen to GWB. Last night was remarkably different, we should all be grinning from ear to ear. Do you dare imagine John McCain in Obama's shoes?

It's great to have an articulate and charming leader. This young administration has a good start. And I loved seeing our Sec't of State and the Pres together; who would have thought that was possible a year ago?

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I am watching Rachael Maddow right now........I think her website has video if you missed her show tonight. SHe interviews Pelosi, and asks some of the questions WE would ask if we had the opportunity to sit down with the speaker. Almost as it if she had read your article, Sally.
I think she is working toward being the most respected journalist of our time!
Oh do tune in it's still going on!

Morgana [TypeKey Profile Page]:

qop

Rachel really did a great interview.

Well, it's foxnews ... so don't know how reliable it is ... read through it and make up your own mind ...

Marta [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Person, sooner, rather than later, you too will have to take off your rose tinted glasses. Until then, borrow Nancy's pompoms, they'll suit you just fine. He was voted in to do certain things, none of which would include being "refreshing". You're kidding, right? When I look at what's been achieved all I see is the same people who created the mess being put in charge (just from the other side of the aisle). At this point, all I'm seeing is just another puppet. Not someone who will get us out of this mess. Sorry you consider it whining. PS I voted for him. Yes, he's lovely, he has a lovely smile, wife, children, speaks well. So what.

PS I'm willing to change my mind ... but I'm not seeing it.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

QOP you have ALWAYS been the designated gardner, I would not think of anyone else.

Person, it was a great speech and I don't think he lied (that's what I said in my article) he just left out some important details that worry people, such as "what's coming" TimmyJ's post is enough to worry us all and the information coming out of the rest of the world regarding the seriousness of the issue. I'm not ready at all to accuse him of giving us the same, I said before the election that no matter who won they would have to "dance with the devil" to get anything done and I believe that's what he is doing. I also see signs of him playing a game of chess on at least three levels (morgana's metaphor) and we are out here saying "why on earth would you waste a knight to get a pawn" but it will work out I believe just not as fast as I would want or as many of us would want.

TimmyJ's posting should give us pause and give us a glympse of what this President is up against.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

TimmyJ, your post details what i was referring to in my earlier post, and elucidates the "oz" aspects of Sally's article. What makes this seem so planned and plotted (and what i forgot to refer to earlier) is the huge influx of play money when workers were switched from retirement funds to 401ks. This slight of hand adds a depth to the mastery of this massive theft. I have yet to do the research on the collective sum "missing" from those 401ks.

I remember thinking how hilarious it was that workers were being switched over en masse to 401ks. I knew no one who was familiar with stocks/bonds/derivatives, etc. That too was purposeful. The less we knew, the greater power accessed by those behind the curtain.

Sally, and QOP -- no fair on the gardener status! :) I want in on this. Heck we can most of our homegrown food (including venison). At least you could crown me, designated grower number two! bwahahahahahahahahahaha

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

You've got it karen! You can be #1, I'll settle for 2 no problem!
Long as we're v not eating Big Macs!

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Karen, not being in possession of a green thumb myself, I am thrilled to have so many signed up as chief gardners with tips and ideas. I tore a page out of the new AARP mag that had a small but lovely garden with wonderful tips in there. It made me think "you could do this Sally." Don't know about Venison, I've not been a fan in the past but might have to become a fan.

On a fun tone, if you have friends being foreclosed or know of anyone, this little trick is sweeping the country with some success. "produce the note" these mortgages are strung all over the world and on a foreclosure if a mortgage company cannot produce the "note" proving they actually own it, the foreclosure is stopped until they can produce. It's been successful for some if they get a judge that demands the original, but some judges will take the electronic version,
however it takes them a while to find it. Just a little loophole, perhaps homeowners can find others.

Timmy J [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Karen, the oz factor has been maddening. I don't know if it is yet through with us. This latest set of blunders (?) will destroy the FED I think. Greenspan has leveled the global playing field for the dying dollar and destroyed the FED. Is he evil or is he undercover?.........Just because I live on a boat don't leave me completely out of the gardening roundtable. I designed and ran a horticulture therapy unit for the inpatient psych facility where I work. We had 12 insulated raised beds where we raised vegetables French biodynamically, and a small commercial greenhouse where we raised tomatoes.....Mr biodynamic himself (in the shadow of Rudolf Steiner) John Jeavons has a 2006 version of his book which is better than the 1st edition I used. Loved the link to the hydroponic gardening. Had seen a farm in Vermont taking advantage of this technology and lost the link. Great link! On another note, my veggie garden is doing well (for a novice). Had some potatoes I pulled out of the dirt today, what a treat! Did I tell you I planted those potatoes from some spuds in my fridge that were spouting? Yes! I cut in quarters, left an eye, stuck them in the dirt and voila beautiful plants came up. Then died. We though we weren't going to get any taters, but I stuck my trowel in and out they came. Beautiful babies. Smooth and creamy and delicious. Ate 'em with some tilapia fried in some browned butter and covered in my basil. Yummy. Made my day.

kiwijeanie [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Great article as usual Sally. I did not hear all of the speech but very much liked what I heard.

No, we did not hear all the truth, but the truth is, most could not handle the truth. I think the truth would put most Americans into a crisis-of-faith-of-country tailspin.
The truth is, I'm sure, that for years very corrupt mafioso types have been pulling the strings in high places. Just a feeling I have had for many, many years, but a stong feeling at that.
The recent decades stock market, futures, and derivatives all contain elements of vegas style gambling, - and we all know who started the vegas style gambling operation!

Interestingly enough, I took a look at the historical numbers for the dow jones industrials stock market index and the GDP ($Billions)and found that they have tracked a remarkably close average since WW2!

Currently, I feel more optimistic than I have in years. Yes, there are rough belt tightening and hard work times in the immediate future, but I liken it to a sick person. After diagnosis, the treatment will often make a patient appear to get sicker - such as surgery or chemotherapy. But unless that treatment is administered, the patient may very well die. I feel the US patient has finally been diagnosed, has just begun to undergo treatment, and the slow recovery will soon begin. I think Dr. Obama arrived just in the nick of time- whether his support team will stick around long enough is another story.

The upside of the near collapse of the religion of consumerism, is that people will be forced to get back to strong basics - families and communities spending time together and working to help each other survive, minimizing waste, growing our own food, improved work ethics, etc. etc.
Mother earth will thank the heavens for the slowdown too.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Odd you would use the word "mafiso like" people running this country for a long time is interesting. Just tonight one of our media said the Bush administration was loaded with corrupt and criminal people. Certainly his wasn't the only administration run by corruption and criminal people. It's almost as if government and financiers have justified criminal behavior for so many decades they have failed to see it as criminal, particularly since they've been allowed to get away with it and we don't even know who all the people pulling the strings might be.

You are so right Kiwi, I don't think the majority of people could handle the truth of our government, neither the domestic truth or foreign truth, would we even see it if we were told, I doubt it.

I do feel more hopeful and more like there is a chance to put ourselves back on track, we've been wishing for that for a long time but I wonder if we really realize what we've been wishing for or given much thought to what our wish would look like. It will take years but we have to start someplace and this is as good a place as any to start.

Obama has been in office less than two months and our expectations are huge, I admit that he hasn't made my little progressive heart go pitty pat, but my progressive heart would have included putting Bush, Cheney and Rove in jail within the first week; but "my progressive" heart isn't the only heart he has to try and help, all in all he seems to be trying to make a dent in all that's gone wrong.

kiwijeanie [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Hi Sally,
Your progressive heart I suspect is very much like mine.
By US current standards I would be almost 'a dammed libral commie' By NZ standards, I am rather conservative.
My code, pretty straightforward really - integrate one's lifestyle with nature, connect with the cycles of the universe, manage one's resources wisely, live and let live without judgement(hard sometimes!), strive to integrate generosity of heart and smartness of head. And above all, be truthful and ethical.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Looks like we own a US Bank, Citibank. The guy at Merrill Lynch was there 18 days before he received a multi-million dollar bonus, so we have two or three weeks to wait before we can ask for our bonus for bailing out this bank.

Hey Martha –

Toss those pompoms my way! Because yes the new administration is breath of fresh air; the trouble is there’s a lot of smog and fog to clear away. Here in Florida, many worship all 3 Bush boys, have Sarah 2012 stickers, and fancy tax sheltered mansions are idle while they're plundering elsewhere. Yet Florida was in the blue column! With the election of Obama, we’ve pulled back from the brink of Bush fascism.

My rose colored glasses were shattered years ago, when a certain President declared he was above the law, and when the Bretton Woods Agreement collapsed it marked the beginning of our economic decline. The danger of derivatives is not new, it should never have been allowed. The gamblers played, polished the books and launder money from all sorts of fetid transactions. Yes many from the Clinton era are also in this administration, but their new boss is not the old boss! President Obama is delivering a smack down game of chess.

Watching Rachel Maddow's star rise in such a short time frame is very delightful and energizing; love her compassionate snarky-ness. Her Pelosi interview and presentation of it shows a shift in journalism.

There are so many good things happening these days. Being impatient for more changes can lead to whining and grumbling, and icky energy. I’ve lots of fixed stuff in my chart, yet am finding these phoenix-like days revitalizing. Spring is on its’ way, there are strawberry blossoms and sprouting flax around our bird bath. And the flocks of robins have come and gone; waiting now for the cedar waxwings and purple martins to come by. Oh goodness – now I’m late for meeting a friend for a beach walking meditation…..

Kiwijeanie – right on!!

Sally – thank you for this webspace

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Great post Person. "so much smog and fog to clear away" hits home like a ton of bricks. You are so right, you couldn't be more right.

Because I live in Denver, I want to say goodbye to an old friend in this city. The Rocky Mountain News put out it's last edition today after nearly 150 years of being a part of this community and the oldest paper in Colorado. She was born April 23, 1859 and has survived flood, fires and fierce competition. The News was the people's paper and The Denver Post was the paper of the "elite," and fell to second place when the Post came to town, still she struggled on for decades to stay alive and today she lost her battle, in spite of being considered one of the best papers in the country; thousands of us will miss her.

These are just a few of her accomplishments in the last 9 years and I just want to thank her for her for her dedicated service to this community:

"In the past decade, the Rocky has won four Pulitzer Prizes, more than all but a handful of American papers. Its sports section was named one of the 10 best in the nation this week. Its business section was cited by the Society of American Business Editors and Writers as one of the best in the country last year. And its photo staff is regularly listed among the best in the nation when the top 10 photo newspapers are judged."

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

ALso MY Phila Inquiror ( also winner of Pulitzers) has filed for bankruptcy.........still publishing for now.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

We saw the moon and venus last night-how really beautiful.
Sally-I didn't realize that you actually live in Denver!! My family moved there from my hometown in Kansas and both my parents lived the rest of their lives there (Denver/Aurora).
The Chronicle here is threatening to close even though they are already using non-union printers from Canada. I still need my morning hit of the news with ink that stains my hands and white shirts, etc.Nothing like coffee and the newspaper: I had the hardest time reading the morning paper when I quit smoking.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

They wouldn't recognize Aurora today it has grown so much. Colorado is really a beautiful state hope they had a good experience here Clymela. I too moved here from Kansas. Sorry about your newspaper and hope it doesn't close, or are we just being old fashioned. The kids have so much fun with Face Book and Twitter and feel like they know people but are so distanced from themselves and people and emotions. Don't where that will lead.

The Moon/Venus conj last night was beautiful and had the added benefit of being in sextile to all that Aquarius, mostly Mercury and Jupiter. I noticed some good news coming out yesterday that related to "others" which is what the Moon is about - "people." Anything anyone started yesterday will have energy behind it coupled with opportunities, and we can all use that. QOP's post is a testimony to that "We had RAIN, blessed rain which melted about 1 foot of snow & ice." Now that's good news for the people in her neck of the woods.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

You betcha! Rain is GOOD!

Sally my mother passed away in Aurora in 2005 and my father passed in 2000. They loved Denver/Aurora and after years of struggling in Kansas mostly because my father was an outsider and not the easiest person to get along with once they moved to Colorado and paid some dues they did very well and retired comfortably. They both loved the Rockies and my mother could fish for trout all summer long-the only thing though which I know you understand is that they were confirmed Democrats because they were working people and Colorado was in those years set up for the owners not the workers.

I've been here over 40 years and it sure was set up for the 'owners' not the workers clymela. Now that has actually started to give way from the mid 90's on. It's still here for sure but their grip is not as strong. New people have started taking over. It is still a fire at will state, that's for sure but you can feel the shift. Good grief Coors sold to Molson and Miller, that alone has been a huge sift in this state.

Van Der Heuval against Rove on G Stephanopolous this AM. Verrrrry satisfying!
I found her too timid and unable to break in several years ago. She has gotten over that Big time!

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

QOP- do you think that Rove and Limbaugh and fellows will just keep saying the same things until they come into style again. I was amazed when Gingrich was able to tie Obama to Bush-amazed in that he is so contemptable such a drag.

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Mark Morford -

...So far, all polls indicate that President Obama's potent speech hit all the right notes and set the stage for the Grand Transformation. He has widespread support even among moderate cons, many of whom now appear to trust a Democratic president even more than they trust their beloved banks and megacorps. Which is a bit like devout Catholics saying hey, you know what? The pope really is an insidious relic. That Buddha guy? He might be on to something.

This seems to be the bottom line, at least for now. We have, for the first time in just about forever, an enormously ambitious, confident, risk-taking president so full of grand and even borderline radical ideas they barely fit into a single generation, much less a single speech, and we have him at a time when we need, well, someone exactly like that.

That he just so happens to be tremendously intelligent, progressive, serene as an oak tree and utterly magnetizing? I guess you just call that a bonus.

I really like that last line, Marta...

"American resources are being stretched to the max and are going to be stretched much further, and more than they have never been challenged, but in reality, we have barely begun to tap into them."

More than likely, so true.

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Come to think on it, I don't think the "american resources" are going to be all about money & stuff, so anybody looking for those items & bidness-as-usual are probably in for a disappointment. ;O)

qop, is this a good thing for Maine or bad? Reading it I felt it was a good thing and will turn out to be a smart move.

The Guardian certainly doesn't mince words regarding the bank bail outs in their country. Steam about the bankers is building all over the world. This is getting to be ridiculous and disgusting no matter what side of the pond one is on. What on earth is going on and why all the foot stomping by government figures but nothing is done?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/mar/01/fred-goodwin-pension-rbs

Marta [TypeKey Profile Page]:

OMG, this astrological description is exactly what I was feeling/thinking when I saw Obama speak. Wow, wow, wow. I couldn't express it very well, but this is it. I couldn't post the link, so here's the article (I hope it's not too long ...). Good read.

Reading Between the Lines
They say that the Pisces Moon is a sucker for a sad story, and right now, I'm pretty sure about the sucker part. The only difference is that the president's large convoluted speech to the world, under the New Moon in Pisces, refused to tell the sad part of the story -- more extortion, more war, more torture, more secrecy, more restriction of constitutional rights, and many other hard realities. It's not the time for grand visions of a green, prosperous, all-loving future, nor voyages back in history and forgotten eras. It's not the time for talk of America's returned greatness and magnificent leadership on the planet. We don't need window dressing and flowery speeches promising something that doesn't exist. We need truth and practical ways to cope with the economic disaster that has arrived. Truth about the continuing wars. Truth about what to expect.

Like caged birds, the people are hoping for this man to spring them from their trap while their life's savings disintegrate to nothing and the secure bottoms of their worlds disappear. I hope they're released before they forget how to fly.

The chart of the speech is interesting. You can see the Sun, Neptune, and the Pisces Moon in the theatrical 5th house indicating the American Idol combination religious tone of the evening while the crowd worshipped in waves as if in a sort of lost sea-faring vessel tossing about while the camera panned the crowd, tipping and tilting with the vagaries. The pasted on smiles and the strange manic "happiness" suggested the undercurrent of Piscean tragedy. The pleasurable talk about togetherness is most likely a concentrated effort by all the politicians to mask the degree of sickness, disorientation, and disintegration in the federal government as a whole. The show must go on.

All the planets are clustered in the second quadrant except Saturn, adding great weight to its importance and looking a lot like the box the people are trapped in, with this sole planet offering the way out. Reality is trying to surface but submergence in the 12th house makes it impossible just yet. The way out itself is trapped in the house of confinement. Quite a configuration, all leading magically to the next Saturn-Uranus opposition.

The stellium in the 4th house and the Cancer-Capricorn meridian speak of some temporary comfort, but also the parental problems the nation is experiencing now as she grasps the lifeline in the form of this man pleading for him to save them from the inevitable sinking failure. He doesn't have the power to accomplish that, being just one part of a complex, entrenched system. The obsessive behavior of the Pluto opposition to USA Venus is repeated here as the country struggles with dependency. The Aquarian factor with the North Node says that maybe some much-needed independence will come eventually as the Uranus cycle of oppositions concludes.

The South Node in Leo in the 10th indicates that the pop star approach to governance will not be successful. Something false is sensed and the predominate position of Saturn shows that unadorned reality and genuine sorrow need to be experienced, and will be in due time. Pluto in the 3rd shows the mental manipulation this man is so good at with his Moon in Gemini square Pluto, but also the possibility with the country's transits to Mars in Gemini, that the people can read through the lines, even if by means of Braille at this point.

But here's the really interesting part. With transiting Uranus square US Mars in Gemini, some cutting awareness is present, whether acknowledged or not, beyond the sentimental need of Cancer and Pisces for sugar-coating and fairy tale expectations. Uranus will soon oppose US Neptune and the fantasy world will continue to unravel with transiting Saturn looming in the shadows and headed back to US Neptune and Mars. The ruler of the 4th house, Saturn, is in the Neptunian 12th house of the speech chart, repeating the pattern, getting ready to receive the full moon in two weeks. Very interesting. Reality certainly does lurk. Of course, it could mean that we actually get some details about the plans for our country in exchange for platitudes. Dramatic speeches and public adoration are not going to be adequate to lead the country at this time.

Soon Jupiter will join Neptune for a climax of illusion, but here again, another interesting event occurs. The zenith of delusion could come with this conjunction but within the event, Saturn will turn around and go direct stepping up the reality factor all the way to US Neptune. Jupiter and Neptune will then both turn retrograde, leaving Saturn to lead the way to the next Saturn-Uranus opposition, and the next break from the government. If it goes well, the unhealthy adulation of the man and the way too high expectations will diminish to a more reasonable level, and the people would benefit greatly from that development, although it will probably take until Uranus leaves Pisces for the process to be completed. Releasing the exhausting pretense will free up energy. The realities are going to be recognized one way or another, and ideally a more mature relationship with the person will result.

In the meantime, the people are gradually awakening to an understanding of their plight and are preparing to endure in their own ways whatever difficulties are ahead. And they will, as always, regardless of the leadership.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Sally, I think that is a good thing for SHAPLIEGH MAINE! I have been watching the COngressional activity on Fed water control......."Clean Water Act". Not sure yet where that is going?
Two years ago I had bookmarked a newspaper article. ( probably the Press Herald) about Nestle Co trying to get the ME State Leg. to pass a law limiting to 10 bottles, water to be transported out of state. At the time a friend & I were joking about bottling our wonderful tasting well water, as alternative income to our creative sales, WHEN we reached this point in the economy!
Now that that time has come; my well is polluted..........the state leg. personel has changed somewhat; ( entire state is turning blue), so I threw away the bookmarked article!
However; my very recent experience with Nestle Co,................
They are bottling their Nescafe, in plastic jars now; coffee I have been drinking and very brand faithful to since 1962, to the point, that whenI went to France to paint a mural, I packed a month's supply in plastic bags in my suitcase.
Felt like a fool; the VERY small grocery store in Cap d' Oil, had 25 different varieties of Nestle coffee in jars, because it IS a Swiss Co.
I can find the same in Canada today, and they package in tin or glass! The beans are Brazilian compared to Arabica used in the USA. When I called customer service ( Cali) to say it tastes like swill and I can't drink it any more...their response; coupons for a FREE jar of swill!
Never mind that their name means ( little bird in a nest)the coffee is the ONLY product from Nestle I will buy............but now Hershey's is closing their Pa plant & off shoring........
guess I'll have to buy "fair trade" chocolate, and make my own pepperment patties at home, along with the bread and homegrown veggies.
20 years ago Nestle bought out the Local Philly owned, Alpo Pet Food Co. ( with the least amount of ash in their product) My cats started throwing up. I called customer service at Nestle......they LIED through their teeth, and said there had been no change to the dry cat food, except they had eliminated the red dye. I had an OLD bag left and compared the ingredients: MAJOR CHANGES!
ANd as always: If you read the comments with that article, there are those short sighted enough to sell out for a JOB! There's a lot of buyers remorse from ex-employees who while working for MBNA, credit card company which swept the state with wonderful JOBS 12-15 years ago,and required the employees to PRESSURE people to take their credit cards; Before they closed down all their State facilities, in 2006.
I think the dark underside of corporate operations, is apparent here because the State attracts, wealthy CEO's to retire here and they don't fully realize their dirty underwear is showing!
We're back in the deep freeze; maybe we can revert to cutting blocks of ice from the rivers and shipping them South for refridgeration purposes!

Dear Sally-I still believe that this is all choreographed. All the explosions from falling banks and stock markets the clash of riots and demonstrations. Yesterday I read someone saying "all this will lead to war" and I paraphrase here but I think that this is the desire of some people. I know that I must sound like a Robert Ludlum thriller when I talk like this but really how else could everything start popping at once.
The bank bailouts are orchestrated daylight robberies pushing our money right over to those who will hide it and never talk.
Great astrological insights Marta.

Marta [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Clymela, I'm with you on the choreographing. Glad you liked the article, they're not my astro insights (I wish, right?), but they really resonated with me.

It's amazing how in this age of communication, how little connection there really is! It's more recycle than communicate!
Rant over............

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Marta, I think if you are posting someone else's rant, you should at least mention the name of the website, or author, if you can't provide a link. That particular rant is from Raging Universe by the blog owner, JM. I used to enjoy reading her articles during the Primaries, and the GE, but at some point this year, she became disillusioned, and did a 180 degree turn on Obama, and is now in constant attack mode. I think it is very sad, and may have a direct bearing on her planetary positions. She has said that she has Mars square Uranus, in addition to some other difficult transits from Pluto etc.etc., I still think she's a genius when it comes to her writing skills, and her approach to astrology in general, but I am no longer fond of the content.

QOP, I had a credit card which was underwritten by the MBNA bank. One day when I went online to look at my account, I noticed that the format & other policies had changed, and figured something was wrong. Well, I finally found out that it was taken over by the behemoth BOA (as in boa constrictor), otherwise known as Bank of America. I was never apprised of the change, nothing was said, and I would not have known if I hadn't called - everything done in the dark of night.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Oh, forgot to add that I wholeheartedly agree with your 10.41 p.m. post. How do they get things accomplished in the real world as opposed to the virtual one??? I guess I'm too old to keep up with the plethora of communication modes - I just make myself crazy.

Has anyone else had trouble with watches??
I had 3 last year.........they all broke. The drug store had a 20 % off sale so I bought a Timex.
The first was digital, with stop watch alarm. Even tho I can set my computer clock no problem. This one, the alarm only went off at dinner! It wouldn't keep time! The next one didn't run and had to go back overnight for a battery change.
That one lasted for a week. Obviously Uranus wants me to play!

Marta [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I thought I prefaced the post by mentioning and apologizing for that fact, Crystal. Thanks for clearing up the mystery. Very kind of you.

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

qop... I've not been able to wear a regular watch for years. Within a week, they'd stop. A digital watch will work okay & lose only a little time. I assumed the watches just didn't "like" my energy field. Sometimes, I'll wear an old watch as jewelry.

By using so much leverage the banks have tampered with the banking fundamentals of the universe. I can't remember who said that recently, but it is why governments can't stop the slide/waterfall. It's going critical mass dontjaknow!.........I just wish we had an accurate picture of how bad day-to-day conditions will get for the average person. Time.......ruled by Saturn.........I have worn a watch from 1973 to 2007, without a problem!
( yes, prior to that I couldn't )My favorites, Timex with the sun/moon graphic for am pm. I lost mine in 1992, within a week found an almost identical one on the grass on the Green in Bar Harbor and wore it. Several years later I was cleaning out my truck and discovered the original one under the seat, where it had flown off my arm when removing a sweater. JUST in time, the found one had stopped! I was able to replace the battery on the original one ( purchased `1981) until 2005, when I bought another Timex. ( always water resistant or waterproof.)My daughter gave me 3 fancy watches in the last 2 years.......none work now......
Saturn is conjunct my N Neptune in the 4th house, about to oppose my N Jupiter, 28 pisces, in the 10th, & opposing T Uranus.
I am percieving this as a larger clue? lesson?
Any feed back?

Same here, watches break, no matter what they lose time when I wore them. I haven't worn a watch for easily twenty years, and the last time I used an alarm clock was seven or so years ago.. I get up before the sun and telecommute for work so only thing I am punching in the morning are computer keys and my office availability is a yahoo im avatar saying I'm available.

TimmyJ, I heard that the market is going to drop down to around 5000, where it was before the dot com boom. We, my husband and I are spending money locally but since the closest book store is 25 miles away I order my books off of Amazon.

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Well you know, Morgana, nobody thot they needed watches till they "got citified," yes? A whole new industry was "born"... rather like Dr. Frankenstein & his new creature... poor thing. I wonder how many watches make up an average "landfill" whereas they used to be passed down thru the generations as a special keepsake & inheritance. Oh, well... my soul is enuf troubled. ;O)

Body of Minot Air Force Base 91st Missile Wing Crew Commander found by Minot police. Capt. Jonathan Bayless was assigned to Minot during August 2007 illegal transfer of nuclear warheads to Louisiana for an operation in the Middle East

MINOT, N.D. — The body of a missile combat crew commander from the Minot Air Force Base was found by police, and the cause of his death is under investigation, the Air Force says.

A statement issued by the base Sunday said the body of Capt. Jonathan Bayless, 28, was found Friday night. Police did not give details but said it was in an area north of the city soccer complex, and they are awaiting autopsy results.

Timmy J, I REALLY liked the post about Love's book on how they got by during the depression (and enjoyed it). I hope itI'm trying to finish buying some preps before March 19th in case the dollar's worth drops then.
doesn't take another war to give us the boost we need. When the U.S. joined in WWII, it was for necessary reasons. I don't think anything else would fly with us now. I can see how all the manufacturing needed during a war turned the economy around.

I was also wondering what you meant by "preps" in your statement:

"I'm trying to finish buying some preps before March 19th in case the dollar's worth drops then."

Are you talking about gold & silver, or bonds or ...?

Timmy J [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Dear NOLASharon, I was not talking about gold or silver; although I believe those to be the best investment now. Bullion in hand, NOT ETF's or stocks. I certainly wouldn't be in bonds now; especially US T Bills as they have been inflated to nothing. T Bills and the dollar, IMHO, are being held-up artificially right now. Hedge funds paying out generally do so in dollars. They must purchase dollars first. T Bills are being purchased by the FED, officially since Feb 13, 09. The house of cards is falling. The dollar will move down in price soon I think. We cannot buy our way out of the depression. In WWII we went into debt. We did not get out of debt until we quit spending, after WWII. It seemed as though the economic depression ended at WWII because people were employed or in the military. Think of your own household: Can you spend your way to prosperity?..............My preps are about being flexible for a time when flexibility will be needed. Think of the basics: Shelter, food, water, safety, transportation, being out of debt, self reliant.........If you want to understand the March 19 date, spend some time reading here http://theinfounderground.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=3003 ....To understand the problem of spending our way to prosperity/Kenysian economics, spend some tome reading here http://blog.mises.org/blog/ And here http://cluborlov.blogspot.com/ Mr Orlov contrasts the readiness of the Russians during the collapse of the Soviet Union-vs-the readiness of Americans for our collapse. Orlov is scary. I used to think he was over the top. I'm not so sure now. I've chosen flexibility as my theme for self reliance....Nameste', Timmy J

I happened to catch the interview with Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz on one of the money channels on Wednesday. What he had to say about the bankster bailout made total sense. First, he said that the American taxpayer doesn't mind guaranteeing the deposits of bank customers. But, what the public never signed on for, he notes, is the taxpayer never agreed to underwrite the gambling losses that have been run up by the trading desks who were involved in flaky/dishonest derivatives speculations. Those losses, he figures, should go back to the bank shareholders, boards of directors and the bondholders who bought into the situation.

Stiglitz also says the "too big to fail" mantra isn't honest, either. You simply move the 'clean depositor' monies from the bad/speculative banks to the well-run (e.g. didn't speculate) banks and if the bank with the bad debt fails, oh well...snip

Business is booming worldwide for US biotech giant Monsanto but in Germany the company has encountered fierce resistance. A colorful alliance of beekeepers, anti-capitalism protestors and conservative politicians are in the process of chasing the global market leader out of the country.

Monsanto's annual report lies on the table in front of Lüttmer-Ouazane. These are good times for the group, globally speaking. Last year Monsanto doubled its profits to about $2 billion (€1.6 billion). The food crisis in the spring of 2008 drove its stock up to an all-time high of $142 a share. New GM plants boosted sales in South America, leading Monsanto CEO Hugh Grant to announce ambitious goals, which included doubling profits once again by 2012. Grant sees great potential in developing countries, where Monsanto is pinning its hopes on a draught-resistant variety of corn that it plans to begin selling soon.

Venus went retrograde at 15 Aries today, just past a square to the US Sun and an opposition to the US Saturn. Painful monetary actions over the next six weeks and wrong decisions regarding the expenditure of money. Venus isn't always "lovely" and in the sign of Mars can be quite aggressive getting what it wants, it does sextile Jupiter in Aquarius so there will be opportunities to make money but you want to review very carefully and get everything in writing.

If Aries falls in your first house resist the urge to change your colors or clothes, you won't like them later. In fact resist making any changes related to you personally until the transit has passed.

2nd house: money, your money, don't spend it because it won't be spent wisely and you will regret it's gone.

3rd house: can put your foot in your mouth or take an ill advised speaking engagement. Fortunately you can easily disengage your foot in about six weeks.

4th house: Don't buy or redecorate for the next six weeks. Spend the time looking at what you might want to do. Look at several possibilities.

5th house: Kids will need money like you can pour it out of a faucet, wait also a good time to try your hand at something creative.

6th house: health and job, if you have to take a new job keep a back up plan in case it doesn't work out and elevate your immune system. It doesn't matter if you've always had a strong immune system that will be challanged now.

7th house: a new relationship may not work out, you could break one up (likely it will not be a final break) Working with others can be a challange or a partner could talk you into something not in your best interests.

8TH THROUGH THE 12TH WILL COME TOMORROW EVENING WHEN I CAN KEEP MY EYES OPEN.

Now that the icebergs in my path are starting to melt, mabe as venus backtracks.I weill be able to accomplish what I intended!

qop, yes, it looks better to trim the fat before it is ripped away by decline. Pro activity is the height of self responsibility according to Peter Senge...........Now I'm not saying this is what is happening, and I guess it shows the simplicity and scorponic nature of my thinking, but if I were a western centric Illuminati, and knowing the dollar and old technologies had seen their day, I would offload the last century's technology manufacturing onto China, make them the last buyer of the dollar for the privilege, and in the western void proceed with the manufacture of advanced technologies. Nanotechnology, zero-point energy, and anti gravity come to mind. Trimming fat comes first, but then we must produce if we are to trade...I have to go now. Pinky and the Brain are on...Timmy J

More on Venus as she back peddles in Aries. One thing for sure you will find a plethora of gloom, doom and failure articles when Venus is retrograde. She plays havoc on what we value and our money. Unless we are going for a second marriage Venus is not the best for relationships. If a person breaks off a relationship don't expect that "breakup" to last and if a new relationship is started don't put all your energy or emotions into it, best just to wait and see. Retrograde Venus and Mercury aren't the best aspect to start a new relationship.

If possible force yourself away from all the bad news out there which is more than likely 80 percent manufactured. You know when the cowboys wanted to stampede a heard of cows they would only have to spook two or three heads of cattle or buffalo to create a mass stampede, that is what is being done to the world right now and like cattle we are all beginning to run.

Retrograde Venus

in the 8th: if you are expecting a raise, bonus or promotion it's likely to be put off for a while. Don't sell any antiques during this period as you will not get what they are worth, art is the same issue. Be very careful that your taxes are filled out correctly, if you have an accountant ask that they go over the material carefully; expect delays regarding other people's money such as insurance claims, tax refunds, bonus' etc.

in the 9th: Some confusion and delays in long distance travel, falling grades in college classes, frustration with the Supreme Court, and delay in being accepted into higher education courses. If you are a consultant and you think you have a better way, make sure you do your research and redo after Venus is direct.

in the 10th: Perhaps some problems at work that will need to be ironed out later. Not a good placement for leaders in business or government. Examples in business is a sudden resign of your CEO or someone important there. Career shifts for everyone, possible fears for the safety of your job (although that can happen with retro Venus in the 6th house as well. I wouldn't want to be President Obama over the next six weeks that's for sure.

in the 11th: Hopes wishes and dreams change, problems with groups, anything from over extending the time you have to give to leaving the group. A distancing from friends or they distance themselves from you (or seem to) Don't pay to join a group unless you are sure that's where you want to be and review your hopes and dreams.

in the 12th: Something you don't expect to happen could, it would come out of the blue. A car breakdown, a broken relationship you didn't see coming, a spiritual experience that leaves you cold in a few weeks, a theft in your home or car or lost wallet. Stay alert when retrograde Venus is in the 12th.

The positives of a retrograde Venus is to figure out what you really want or need, how you really feel about any situation. You can also find something of value which has been lost, if you like to go antiqueing you can also find bargains galore.

Above all, remember the story of how to stampede a herd of animals.

Paragraph 35 from the last "Matthew" that helped me to feel better... fantasy or not it helped...

35. So then, back to Earth in this moment. The global economy will continue to plunge downward until its root causes are exposed and eradicated or reformed. An essential step is elimination of the Federal Reserve, a collection of privately owned banks, and the international owners are desperately maneuvering to keep the truth from becoming public knowledge. The Swiss banking system that has sheltered monies derived from illegal dealings must be ended and those funds retrieved. The Bank of England and the Vatican also hold vast fortunes that must be restored to the peoples. The International Monetary Fund, which has raped nations’ natural resources in exchange for directing loans into a few bottomless pockets, must be taken out of multinational corporate control. The storehouses of stolen gold must be opened and precious metals once again become the stable basis for national and international economies and commerce. A series of banking regulations that have abetted the massive fraud must be stricken and new laws enacted to safeguard against a similar situation ever recurring. The global “illegal” drug industry, which garners untold funds for a variety of nefarious activities, must be halted. Take heart in knowing that this network of unimaginable greed, corruption and deception under the Illuminati umbrella is unraveling. [ http://www.matthewbooks.com/mm/anmviewer.asp?a=98&z=2 ] One achingly hopes so.

* A specter haunts the ruling elite

The specter of socialism is haunting the American ruling elite.

One finds in the media increasing references to the prospect of socialism. The different factions of the bourgeoisie accuse each other of socialistic tendencies, while insisting on their own absolute commitment to the principles of free enterprise.

One of the central topics for discussion on the Sun talk shows yesterday was Republican charges that Obama's policy is somehow socialistic. On ABC News' "This Week with Geo Stephanopoulos," the assembled panel of regular columnists—EJ Dionne, David Brooks, George Will and Cokie Roberts—debated the issue.

On NBC's "Meet the Press," Dem Sen Charles Schumer and Republican Sen Lindsey Graham discussed the possibility of govt ownership of the banks. Schumer and Graham both supported some form of nationalization. However, they both hastened to distinguish between "bad nationalization," where the govt actually takes the banks out of the hands of private individuals, and "good nationalization"—which they said would be better called "receivership"—in which the govt would clean up the balance sheets of the banks and quickly resell them to private investors. ... http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/mar2009/pers-m09.shtml

After Pluto in Sagittarius... It's real impact emerges:

America becoming less Christian, survey finds

(CNN) -- America is a less Christian nation than it was 20 years ago, and Christianity is not losing out to other religions, but primarily to a rejection of religion altogether, a survey published Monday found.

Survey finds percentage of of Americans identifying themselves as Christian has fallen over two decades.

Seventy-five percent of Americans call themselves Christian, according to the American Religious Identification Survey from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1990, the figure was 86 percent.

William Donohue, president of the Catholic League said he thinks a radical shift towards individualism over the last quarter-century has a lot to do it.

"The three most dreaded words are thou shalt not," he told Lou Dobbs. "Notice they are not atheists -- they are saying I don't want to be told what to do with my life."

At the same time there has been an increase in the number of people expressing no religious affiliation.

The survey also found that "born-again" or "evangelical" Christianity is on the rise, while the percentage who belong to "mainline" congregations such as the Episcopal or Lutheran churches has fallen.

One in three Americans consider themselves evangelical, and the number of people associated with mega-churches has skyrocketed from less than 200,000 in 1990 to more than 8 million in the latest survey. Watch CNN report on new study »

The rise in evangelical Christianity is contributing to the rejection of religion altogether by some Americans, said Mark Silk of Trinity College.

"In the 1990s, it really sunk in on the American public generally that there was a long-lasting 'religious right' connected to a political party, and that turned a lot of people the other way," he said of the link between the Republican Party and groups such as the Moral Majority and Focus on the Family. Watch author on mixing religion and politics »

"In an earlier time, people who would have been content to say, 'Well, I'm some kind of a Protestant,' now say 'Hell no, I won't go,'" he told CNN.

After you've been on top for awhile, often there's no place else to go but down, down, down. The backlash comes for the Religious Right...

The coming evangelical collapse
An anti-Christian chapter in Western history is about to begin. But out of the ruins, a new vitality and integrity will rise.

By Michael Spencer
from the March 10, 2009 edition

ONEIDA, KY. - We are on the verge – within 10 years – of a major collapse of evangelical Christianity. This breakdown will follow the deterioration of the mainline Protestant world and it will fundamentally alter the religious and cultural environment in the West.

Within two generations, evangelicalism will be a house deserted of half its occupants. (Between 25 and 35 percent of Americans today are Evangelicals.) In the "Protestant" 20th century, Evangelicals flourished. But they will soon be living in a very secular and religiously antagonistic 21st century.

This collapse will herald the arrival of an anti-Christian chapter of the post-Christian West. Intolerance of Christianity will rise to levels many of us have not believed possible in our lifetimes, and public policy will become hostile toward evangelical Christianity, seeing it as the opponent of the common good.

Millions of Evangelicals will quit. Thousands of ministries will end. Christian media will be reduced, if not eliminated. Many Christian schools will go into rapid decline. I'm convinced the grace and mission of God will reach to the ends of the earth. But the end of evangelicalism as we know it is close.

WHY IS THIS GOING TO HAPPEN?

1. Evangelicals have identified their movement with the culture war and with political conservatism. This will prove to be a very costly mistake. Evangelicals will increasingly be seen as a threat to cultural progress. Public leaders will consider us bad for America, bad for education, bad for children, and bad for society.

The evangelical investment in moral, social, and political issues has depleted our resources and exposed our weaknesses. Being against gay marriage and being rhetorically pro-life will not make up for the fact that massive majorities of Evangelicals can't articulate the Gospel with any coherence. We fell for the trap of believing in a cause more than a faith.

After Neo's great post, I just have to share this email joke I received about the rabid holier than thou types .......

A man was being tailgated by a stressed out woman on a busy boulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup.
As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up.
He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, ''I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do'bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk,

so naturally...I assumed you had stolen the car.''

A Forerunner of Credit-Card Debt Helped Spawn the Revolutionary War
by Russ Wellen | March 11, 2009 - 6:40am
Washington was caught in the trap that was snaring so many other Virginia planters and that Thomas Jefferson, another victim, described as the chronic condition of indebtedness, which then became "hereditary from father to son for many generations, so that planters were a species of property annexed to certain mercantile houses in London. … If a debt is once contracted by a farmer, it is never paid but by a sale," meaning bankruptcy proceedings.

Excellent article!

I think that this is the shock:

Mar. 11, 11:17 am

Seymour Hersh:

“Yuh. After 9/11, I haven’t written about this yet, but the Central Intelligence Agency was very deeply involved in domestic activities against people they thought to be enemies of the state. Without any legal authority for it. They haven’t been called on it yet. That does happen. SNIP

"Congress has no oversight of it. It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on. Just today in the Times there was a story that its leaders, a three star admiral named [William H.] McRaven, ordered a stop to it because there were so many collateral deaths."

The "domestic activities" in the first paragraph refer to a program started way back in Vietnam. But it sure makes sense with the first glance definition - domestic as in right here.

Hersh said that it would take him about a year to pull all the evidence together before he's write this story.

Well, I see this as a warning - back off Bush and other right wing hate groups. We've got the goods on your and we'll let this loose anytime we want.

It also explains why Obama goes out of his way to say let bye gones be bye gones. He knows that the A.G. decides what to prosecute based on legal standards. Obama is just positioning for the eventual release of this ugliest of programs. Then he can say, as with the " bipartisan" approach to Republicans, 'See, I tried. Now look what's out. No person is above the law."

Lots of heavy duty stuff going on here.

Obama is so much smarter than most of them, it's not funny and he's using that advantage to really set things up.

We'll know the real deal if he turns on the banks. Now that would be HOPE and CHANGE.

He's the first president since Kennedy to be cool and behave like a human, as elegant as he is. That makes a big difference.

* Fighting Back in America's 30-Year Class War

David Brooks was upset. You can tell when this con and rather-professorial columnist for The NYTimes gets upset, because his words almost sag with disappointment — you can practically hear the tsk-tsks and the heavy sighs in each paragraph. When most commentators on the right see things that offend them, they get snarling mad; Brooks gets sad.

What saddened Brother Brooks this time was Barack Obama's budget. In a recent column, he noted that the $3.6 trillion total is "gargantuan" (we columnists are paid to make keen observations like that), but what really upset him was that the tax burden to finance universal health care, energy independence and other big initiatives in Obama's budget "is predicated on a class divide."

With heavy sighs, Brooks expressed great despair that "no new burdens will fall on 95% of the American people," adding with a tsk-tsk that "all the costs will be borne by the rich and all benefits redistributed downward."

Leaving aside the fact that such things as health-care coverage for every American and a booming green energy economy will benefit the rich as well as the rest of us, Brooks' column was echoing a prevalent theme in all of the right's attacks on Obama's economic proposals: Class War! Indeed, the Times' columnist even suggested (sadly) that Obama's budget was fundamentally un-American: "The US has never been a society riven by class resentment," he sniffed. ... http://www.creators.com/opinion/jim-hightower.html

Guido, this from March 12 Denninger....... From Reuters:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing next week to ask key justice officials and regulators what they need to prosecute wrongdoers in the financial crisis, the chairman of the committee said on Thursday.

Barney Frank, a Massachusetts Democrat, said he had invited officials from the U.S. Justice Department, the FBI, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and all the bank regulators to the hearing.

KEEP YOUR EARS OPEN ON THIS ONE.

The pundits will get this 100% dead-flat backward.

They will all claim that this will "destroy" the markets if it happens.

Wrong.

If we actually see a strong, consistent, even-handed prosecutorial response to this crisis and people up and down the line start finding themselves under indictment confidence may begin to return to the capital markets.

This is exactly what we need if we are to avoid the nightmare scenario, and if Congress (and the Administration) is removing the cotton from its ears, and this is more than a Washington DC "feel good" game, we may in fact be turning an important corner both in the markets and the broad economy.

Supporting Mr. Frank in this endeavor, along with your Rep and Senators, is strongly recommended.

Dear Ones you are edging along as the coming changes become more apparent, and this year will see the outworking of a number of them. The financial situation will settle into a new system but it will be in stages, and proof of the inadequacy of the old one will become quite clear. As has often been said, you cannot go back to the earlier systems with all of their flaws and lack of unaccountability. In many sectors of industry, there will have to be much more openess and honesty than previously experienced. There will also have to be adequate regulations in place to ensure fair-trading, and control over grossly unnecessary profits. All these coming changes are in the pipeline, but just cannot be applied without sensible and correct timing.

Meantime you will have to prepare yourselves for some uncomfortable periods of adjustment and inconvenience that are unavoidable in the circumstances. Therefore, keep your focus on the reasons that changes are occurring, and know that it will all work out to your best advantage. They will ensure that your sovereignty is restored to levels you have not experienced. If you reflect on what has happened in the past, you may be astonished that you allowed others to take over your govts and the key institutions. However, the dark have long worked at their plan for control, without you hardly noticing the gradual loss of your power and freedom that has gone on for several centuries. Now your understanding is growing, as more details are being brought to the surface that shows where and how your trust has been misused. The dark forces are being revealed for what they are, and cannot now take back their power. People power remains the most potent weapon against the dark, and you are beginning to come together in a concerted effort to have them removed. ... http://www.treeofthegoldenlight.com/First_Contact/mike_quinsey/channeled%20messages/March%202009/salusa_13march2009.htm

* Ode to the unhappy
Conservatism let you down? Obama nothing more than bush II? Oh, you poor thing

...But to make matters worse--oh holy hell, would you look at this?--it turns out Obama isn't stopping with just reversing every toxic dubya-caused debacle, nossir. It turns out he's reaching even further back, casually wrapping his long, socialist fingers around the throat of more than 30 yrs of pamper-the-rich, supply-side reaganomics, and calmly squeezing. Heathen!

This is, quite possibly, the most amusing thing I am hearing from the furious fringe: That Obama's plan will wreak hell on the deficit for generations to come. It's a bit like hearing a Catholic priest scold you on the perils of child abuse. I'm sorry, did you just say that it was fine and good to rape the Treasury for the past decade and worship Big Oil and waste two trillion on a failed and useless war, but redirecting those sums into science, health care, children and alternative energy is a terrible and costly idea?

For you, there is nowhere to turn. The neocons failed to induce WWIII against the Muslims, the libs are failing because Obama doesn't openly endorse gay marriage and won't plant hemp in the Rose Garden and refuses to even acknowledge the obvious brain-scrambling power of chemtrails.

To whom shall you turn? Perhaps the new de facto king of the GOP, rush limbaugh, praying aloud that Obama fails as he scrunches up his sweaty, bulbous face and scans the horizon for the slightest glimmer of a tolerable future [Rebum] candidate who can shove us, well, who the hell knows? Not back to bush. Not toward Obama. Maybe into China? ... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2009/03/04/notes030409.DTL

I've put up my latest scribbles. Got up this morning and was greeted by Cheney's visage from the teevee thingy. The results are in my scribbling.
