Maybe the 'baby' that Michelle will mother is the US itself. Obama said something about the need for everyone to grow up and become responsible for our actions.

I have to share a little story and I think perhaps it reflects something of what we might see in the form of tough love from the Obamas.

Barak's grandmother was the boss of the sister of a very close friend of mine when she first started working in Honolulu as a young woman. At first this young lady had difficulties because of Mrs Dunham's exacting work ethic, but she gradually came to respect that ethic. Not only was she later able to see that those skills she developed as a result of Mrs Dunham have stood her in great stead all her working career, but she remembers her with considerable affection.

If Obama is going to be dealing with the messes of Bush and other Presidents now past, during his first term, let's hope that he can do so in a way that heals and prevents those messes from re-emerging in his and future administrations. Maybe with some of the truths revealed about our country, will also come a mass awakening. Maybe not real change right away, but a bridge to it in a few years.

Was watching a bit of the day's events on teevee... I was so proud of our new president. No slurring, no smirking, no phony accent, no halfwit... it was wonderful. The whole world was watching. That would've been very bad had it still been bushadruggie.

I think there will be a fight all year between Saturn the old, and Uranus the different. Uranus has won the first round of their opposition with the election of President Obama, the next round comes up in a few weeks when the Saturn/Uranus opposition is again exact, and when Saturn retrogrades back to 18 degrees, where it was on election night and then comes forward this spring to cross that point once again, as well as Feb. 5th opposition, oh what a spring and summer this will be. Old ways vs. new ways will be tested right on through to the fall. Maybe Uranus, which will trine the US Mercury and sextile the US Pluto will give us a stunning boost to the economy, well I can dream can't I? What do you think the chances of that might be Neo?

I like the Obamas, I voted for them, I believe in the possibility of them bringing change, but I looked at them tonight and though "Oh my gosh is that man really the President of the United States?" I look at my grandchildren and know that they will not know anything else but the possibility of a woman or man of any color or creed being President just as my kids don't know anything but drinking out of the same fountain as everyone else, to do otherwise would be completely foreign to them and not understood, just as women not being able to vote is foreign to my generation. By golly we have grown a little in this country.

Now that's a guy who is stuck in the Ronald Reagan verbage. I was working for the homeless in the early 80's and believe me there aren't hardly any "welfare queens" around. That was a diversion from those who were really stealing from us. Pennies? This guy is talking about pennies off their heating oil? I loved this, the Obama Administration delivered a "stop order" to all the departments in the government regarding the Bush Executive signing statements until they have the chance to go over all of them first.

I was riveted, and I am not one for church servcies. She was so fabulous, there was spontaneous applause when she finished! One DOESN"T normally applaud in church!
She based her sermon on the Cherokee story about the dark wolf and the light wolf and which one you feed, interelaced with very pertinant biblical verses, and she personalized it with directly addressing the Pres. VP at times, making the congregation laugh!

I think, in order to fill too much time on their 24/7 cable news they have to pull whatever they can out of their fanny. So Andrea wonders if he could actually make changes or sign orders yesterday, Lord these folks are exhausting. Oath or not, he was President at Noon on the 20th according to the Constitution and if an oath is delivered the Constitution supplies suggested wording. They have not been concerned about the Constitution for eight years and not it has to be to the letter and dot or might not be valid? I do not believe it.

His new oath of office (the time) suggests even more emphasis on service, but for the overall tone of the administration look to the Noon Chart, the re-do does indicated a little more push back from the people over some of their changes, we will have to see if that plays out, the 7:35 Jan. 21 chart will be an interesting and fun one to watch as we move forward.

According to the Constitution, whether the oath of office has been delivered or not, the President Elect becomes President of the US at 12 Noon on January 20 of the given year. The oath is a formality and symbolic, the 12 Noon is the exact time the President Elect becomes President, no matter when the Oath is administrated.

The other two times 12:05/06 on January 20th and the 7:35pm on Jan. 21st would just be fun charts to follow for a couple of years, but again it's the straight up 12 Noon chart that reflects his Presidency and Administration.

We are beginning to see the start of a world wide wave of protests over the money crisis. I still haven't heard anyone say "what happened to the money." John Thain of Merrill Lynch and his 1.22 million dollar office overhaul with his $87,000 rug has been let go by the Bank of America, but not before he distributed billions in bonus' to his buddies. John it seems used to be Hank Paulson's number 2 man at Goldman Sacs. It's getting nasty out there and where is the money? This country and a lot of other countries have mysteriously gone bankrupt. Should we think there has just been a world wide wave of financial incompetence? GWB signed in a Martial Law order if the masses get out of hand, I don't think Obama has revoked that one. I've said it many times but will continue to say it, keep some money in reserve at your house, hide it, bury it, put it in the mattress, at least for a little while. The rest of the world are not giving out good monetary signs for the US. I don't know if all the hopes and expectations laid on Obama include fixing the financial markets within a couple of weeks, but it won't be possible to do. Something tells me that this financial crisis is out of his hands, except to drain whatever is left and give it out to the people.

One up on stuffing money back, also think in terms of bartering. What skills do you have that you can offer as services in a trade for goods, food, transportation, shelter, etc? Think in terms of utility, practicality and need. If you don't have any skills along these lines, then what are you waiting for? Start working on developing some!

If/when the US should ever run into hyperinflation, as we know from Weimar Germany, all the "trust in government" paper in the world could prove to be rather worthless. However, substance and integrity in service and trade will prevail.

I read an article earlier today where California growers are cutting back planting since we have entered our 3rd year of drought and there will be no water for the crops. Tomatoes, melons, lettuce not being planted. I'll be planting home grown since the price is going to go way up on produce.

Well one sturdy arugula survived my inattention.......guess I'd better dust off the window boxes, & plant some seeds!
Most of our Hannaford, vine grown tomatoes, come from greenhouses in ME & VT. They support local grown when they can......the cranberries grown 6 mi.s up the road were splendid this year.

Okay!! I slept in this morning and woke up to hear some of Obama's Saturday address and what some of what I heard has troubled me.
Obama is speaking of reducing medical costs by putting all our medical records into digital format. This is scary although I know that Kaiser where i go has done it already. I heard a co-worker saying that he needed his records and he was directed to the medical records and came back in 48 hrs and picked up the digital record. One day on KPFA someone was talking about how dangerous this is for people who have medical issues better left private. This goes along with storing our genetic records. Well as i keep harping on I am almost out of the game but this could really be a problem for younger people.
Still no words of compassion for Gaza AND the camera man/woman was shooting him from an angle that made him look like Alfred E. Newman.
Well I guess I do not belong to the No Drama Obama gang because my head snapped up and I was then full awake.

Obama has commented on Gaza, this is his most recent comments on Jan. 20 right after the inauguration, this is what he said and then he appointed George Mitchell which seems to be good news for all concerned. These are Obama's comments and Israel didn't like them

"President-elect Obama finally broke his silence on the atrocities being waged on Palestinians by stating: "The loss of civilian life in Gaza and Israel is a source of deep concern for me." I would say it is about time, but the truth of the matter is that it is two weeks past the time. As for the digital medical records, I am really torn, I don't want mine out there for all to see or even all to steal and hack, but I also have worked with the sick and mentally handicapped in this city. Most out of this group come from other cities and there isn't a way to find out what their medical treatment or medicines have been and they are most often treated inapproiately as they wander the streets of this country as the homeless and untended. A digital record keeping system would be so helpful in those situations and literally billions of dollars would be saved by not having do-overs on tests and medical attention that doesn't work for the individual, so I am really torn on this issue.

Sally a few years ago my local pharmacy had a gadget that we were supposed to electronically sign to authorized the pharmacy to electronically transmit prescription records to a government database. I refused to sign (as well as most of the town). Imagine an employers delight in discovering a potential employee, or employee being fired because they are on anti-psychotic drugs, or ever took anti-depressants, pain pills, poof no job. I didn't trust the Bush government and I don't yet trust the Obama administration. If you have cancer, who is going to hire you? High blood pressure, heart disease, COPD, AIDS? Bang no job, no medical insurance. Though in all likelihood the drug store probably sent the records anyway. Just think of the fun Big Pharma has mining that data.

I also heard Obama talk about the Israeli Palestinian humanitarian disaster. Israel committed genocide upon the Palestinians, who villages bulldozed. Israel got its knickers in a twist when Obama called them out on it. Israel should be brought up on War Crimes, the same way Bushco should be prosecuted for War Crimes and crimes against humanity. Just the other day my supervisor gave me a paper to take to my physician asking what meds I use and if they interfere with my functioning. No one has ever done this before and I imagine she is up to no good. I went in and asked her if she wanted my regular doctor to complete the form or my occupational health MD to complete it. she came back and said neither one because she had given me the wrong form but she never came back with another form. Shook me up in these days of layoffs and requested pay decreases.

I think it's pretty easy to be mixed up on Jew and Zionest because Israel keeps putting them in place in their government so something about them appeals or they wouldn't keep doing it. I think because of the 1917 Balfour Agreement between the Zionests and England Israel might think the Zionests are the only ones who can keep their land in tack. I do think most of us are completely ignorant of what goes on over there and I don't think we get the straight story from anyone. It seems that no matter who is running Israel or Palestine they seem to think the only way to co-exist is to fight each other to the death.

Clymela, I can hardly believe someone would do that, and yet I know I've heard of it before and I think that is frightening that our medical records are on file and you could be booted out of your job if some one thinks your meds could interfer with performance. Lordy, over the counter cold and allergy medicine can interfer with functioning.
