Our destiny is not written by others for us, our destiny is written by us. (Barack Obama 2008)
The torch of destiny that GWB so fervently believed was his, has been passed to Barack Obama, and George Bush holds the torch of infamy. The meaning of destiny is an event that was pre-ordained either by the choices one makes in the course of their lives or by a fixed sequence of events that is inevitable and unchangeable. I would say it's a mixture of the two because there is always the X factor in the decisions we make that seems to place us on the road we are to travel. Barack Obama seemed to be an unlikely candidate to become President of the US, both by accident of birth and astrologically, but here he is - The President Elect of the United States of America. His DNA having traveled from Africa and Kansas to Hawaii to Indonesia back to Hawaii then to Illinois to Washington, DC, and most of the time he traveled in proverty. This man is beloved by millions around the world as they pour all their hopes of the last 40 years onto him, others are enraged and fearful as they see "that one" to be the vessel of their fear.
There have been few "destined leaders" who have not experienced the same emotions from the people, right from the very beginning of this country. Each person, no matter their station in life are in the end 'human beings," with flaws, and mistakes, and moments of incompetency, as well as soaring imagination and flashes of brilliance. Obama will not be any different. We make our leaders better than they are, and our villans worse than they are. Many in this country did not want George Washington as the first President and he did not chop down a cherry tree and then recount it to his father. Jefferson and his supporters hated Adams and tried to have him removed, Adams hated Jefferson and he tried to have him removed, not everyone in this country wanted a revolution and to break away from England. Lincoln was hated as the anti-christ throughout the South, a decorated general of the US Army was encouraged to lead a group to assassinate FDR. In La Jolla California and other places around the country, celebrated and had parties when JFK was shot down, I cannot tell you the joy some felt when MLK and RFK were murdered in that fateful spring and summer of 1968.
Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln, FDR, JFK, MLK, RFK had to fight people in their own party and the opposition party every step of the way to win any support for their agenda and most of the time they weren't able to move their agenda forward; and now Obama joins their ranks, he won't be as good as his supporters hope him to be and he won't be as bad and the opposition wants, but forever he will be one of the very few faces of destiny.
President elect Obama's destiny or someone like him was written in tight cramped quarters of the first slave ship to land on the shores of this country, on Sunday, the Lord's Day, August 25, 1619, Jamestown, VA (N/T) With Obama's Saturn opposing the 1619 Uranus, marking a time when another Saturn/Uranus opposition would elect a leader of the oppressed, and Chiron, the wounded healer is conjunct Obama's South Node, I doubt seriously that he knows he would be the healer of so many years of injustice in this country, offering hope to all who have been enslaved.
Slavery was not new in this country, in fact there is evidence that slavery existed before the written word. Africans, women of all races, Egyptians, children of all races, Jews, Chinese, the untouchables of India all have used or been used as slaves; you name the country and you will find slaves past and/or present; not just slaves but purging of the people on the scale and worst than the Holocaust, mankind has a very violent history and few have ever won. When there was a leader for the people they were soon marginalized or killed, but still we, the people, hope and always have down through the ages and now once again we hope for what seems to be a new leader of the people.
The first shot (the one heard round the world) of the Revolutionary War was on April 19, 1775, at 4:55am, Lexington, MA. and Mars in that chart conjuncts Obama's North Node and Pluto Conjunct his Saturn, bringing forth a hint of another revolution in this country and certainly his candidacy and election confirms some type of revolution in this country, with his Saturn conjoining this Pluto, indeed the US Pluto speaks to some type of control over today's free wheeling markets and bloated greed, Mars on his North Node will present him with the opportunity to make some new aggressive changes in a new direction. Time will tell whether he will make the choice toward something new or just set up the stage for something new in the future for another president, but "new" is tonight's word.
The first international Women's and anti-Slavery Conference held on June 12th, 1840, 11:27am, London, England. 2008 Election night found transiting NN conjunct Neptune (hope, looking toward a promise of a dream come true, another opportunity for the President to make it happen, but mostly it's the dream of the people) Election Mars conjunct the 1840 Moon, square Neptune, the people are ready to take charge in an underground manner, the Saturn/Uranus opposition is conj and opposed to the 1840 Uranus, the probability of bringing the skills and discipline and structure of Saturn to something new (Uranus) and exciting, electric. One can almost hear the people of OZ dancing and singing in the streets "the Wicked Witch is dead."
The Emancipation Proclamation came in two parts the last one being Jan. 1, 1863, but the first signing on September 22, 1862 in Washington, DC was the one that stated that slaves were free, this is the signing that laid the seeds for the Civil War three years later. The progressed Emancipation Proclamation has the Sun on Obama's South Node, and the Moon on Obama's Saturn; those are highly Karmic aspects and pointed to a win for him on Nov. 4, at least a win he was supposed to receive and he did.
Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act on July 2, 1964 in Washington DC (N/T noon chart) an Chiron was at 18 degrees Pisces, two years later Saturn was at 18 degrees Pisces opposing 18 degrees Uranus in Virgo; Chiron's presence brought pain to this country for the next 40 years. Pisces is the sign of religious idealogy, suffering, dreams and illusions, Saturn has been there on Chiron for 40 years. Two years after the 1966 Saturn/Uranus opposition Richard Nixon was elected and his minions served in the Ford, Regan, GHWBush, and George Bush administration bringing new restrictions and the growth of the far right Christian movement and radical Islam in the Middle East and now that 40 years of wandering in the wilderness is over, Uranus is in Pisces now breaking up the last 40 years of idealogy of all kinds, including the illusion of Wall Street that they could steal us blind. The restrictions we have slowly allowed to take away the Constitution and our freedoms will be broken up in chaotic ways and unexpected ways. Saturn is still there but in Virgo, we will continue to have restrictions along with hard work to save this country and put it back on equal footing before we teeter off the cliff. Warren Buffet's Hathaway Stock dropped 77 percent, 4th quarters of a straight drop, we are for sure in financial trouble.
Because of the length of this article I didn't put the aspects with Lincoln, RFK, MLK, FDR, WWII, and Gulf War one and two but the aspects are there, the energy of trying to do the right thing for the people of this country flows right through Obama's birth chart.
We write our own destiny, it isn't written for us and now is the most important historical time to know that, remember that and work to bring it into your heart.
Destiny strikes anyone anywhere, we turn a corner, meet someone new, take a new job etc. and our lives are changed forever, it seems sudden and unexpected but it can easily be mapped by the timing of one's chart. This is a period of destiny for our country and Barack Obama, as an American gets to share that moment of destiny with all of us. Will we always like him, NO!! Will we always agree, NO!! But all of us have the opportunity of moving this country toward the vision and promise written over 200 years ago when we first set foot on our wheel of "destiny."
I have felt for 8 years like we were sitting at the "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" in Alice in Wonderland, with the "Wizard of OZ" behind the curtain pulling the strings, I am just now remembering that Alice and Dorothy did get out of there and did find their way back home.

Another inspiring and thoughtful article, Sally.
What I have picked up most from many of your recent texts is that we as individuals and as a people create and are ultimately responsible for our own destiny, rather than the leaders we choose.
Absolutely correct IMO, but of course our leaders set the tone, and provide an image of us as a people that is instantly beamed around the world.
I have never been super strong on empathy, but I think I really can imagine how many poor young people in Africa (as well as good hearted thoughtful people of every age and economic status everywhere) must feel upon seeing Obama as President elect.
I think (and state the obvious, so please excuse me here) that with the strong possibility of both G.M. and Ford facing bankruptcy in the next year, and all the other horrendous economic portents, things will be really tough economically, but if the economy was still good, McCain would probably have won, so perhaps this is the price we must pay for America's eventual redemption and rebirth.

The divide of consciousness is stark in the south with some believing Obama to be the anti-christ (the reference to Lincoln being viewed thus was an eye-opener to me, Sally.) Others just "cain't vote fer no *igger." And there were those who made up reasons, such as "he ain't got no birth certificate!" Yet, as you take us on a panoramic ride through history, it has always been the same.
The difference this time? Destiny. Like Grizzly alluded to. . .perhaps we have HAD to get to the bottom before we begin the climb to a new consciousness.
Thanks, Sally. This was a great read!

You are so right Grizzley, that's why an Obama win was so spectacular, Us!! We were ready to change, ready for something different, ready to try and build, and not be so afraid of whatever might be coming and there is something coming, there is always something coming in life. Time will tell what Obama turns out to be, but we the people are ready to turn toward what we believe him to be and we believe him to be a good thing. If he isn't oh well, we have still turned "our" page on this chapter of history and have started a new chapter, you can feel the new energy.
This is a dream brought forward from the "hippy" (actual hippies or those with the hippy message in their hearts) generation. I would not want to be Obama, the world will forgive him mistakes, they will not forgive lies or corruption, that's the page we have turned and a whole "rainbow" of people colors around the country will be watching. If he is a one term president I don't believe we will go backward, we will just look for someone else and it won't be Sarah. 2012 is coming and the next 4 years is going to be about cleaning up the mess that's been made, a quickening if you will of preparing for a new birth of this universe.

As i prepare for my granddaughters 18th birthday celebration (11/10/1990) I am also imagining retirement from my career as a welfare worker-what a wonderful time to be available for volunteer positions-helping others get the greatest benefit from Medicare, from late return to educational pursuits, from legal advice, etc.

Fantastic article, Sally. Morgana, I hope we the people don't go back to sleep, either in 2012, or before then.
However, I have to admit it, the inauguration chart bugs me. The good news is that many of the aspects are really good. The bad news is that the moon is VOC, at 29 degrees Scorpio.
FDR (4th term), JFK, Nixon (2nd term), Ford, and Clinton (2nd term), all had the VOC moon in their inauguration charts. The first three didn't finish their terms; the other two finished their terms and were seen as less than successful. Clinton actually got some important things done (peace in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Kosovo, and balancing the budget), but it was overshadowed by the Lewinsky mess.
The Constitution mandates that the President's term begins/ends at 12 noon on January 20. It doesn't specify a time zone, but 12 noon in Washington is implied. This means that people in Obama's native Hawaii will have to get up at 6 am to see it happen. Besides, both Bush and Obama governed from states in the Central Time Zone.
The reason I'm bringing this up now is that I'd love to know if anybody on this blog know any legal minds that would even consider suing--or at least suggesting to the new www.change.gov site--to have the inauguration moved back to 12 noon CENTRAL TIME? Or try to move it up to the day before (Well, maybe not: Jan. 19, 2009 is MLK Day, which is a National Holiday). I don't know if I'd have much of a case, but it might be worth trying...

A very comprehensive overview, Sally.
I am wondering how this administration will flow.
Just saw 4 of the team that will go to the WH among them Penny Pritzger Hyatt Hotel Chain heiress. ( She worries me more then Bill Ayers!)
ANd I'm not to thrrilled with Rahm Emanuel........
Yet, at the top of the list of things to be done right away are 200 of bush's signing statements or Executive orders to be reversed.
VOC moon.........Gina If you enlist the help of Nancy Reagan you might be able to swing it.
Clymela, My Grandaughter has a birthday tomorrow too. She'll be 13. ( 11/10/95) And she is going to the inaugural with her Jr Youth Leadership Council. I imagine they'll be given a good spot as they are overseen by members of the COngress. ( Sen. CLinton & Rep Gillybrandt.) What a WONDERFUL experience!
I actually sat down and painted today. Forst time since I finished the book illustrations last summer! It has been hard to paint when you are holding your breath!

Penny Pritzger? In what capacity QOP? I cannot believe that, it must be a gift for her to go, and I am not happy with Rahm either, but this won't be the last group we aren't happy with and they will shake out in the first couple of years. The VOC isn't a good thing that's for sure but we will have to see what happens with that. This administration has signed plenty on a VOC Moon and retrograde Mercury and Obama is going to undo a lot of that.

Yeah, I know that trying to change the time of the inauguration is kind of a nutty idea, but I thought I'd run it by you.
Just for fun, I cast the inauguration chart with my computer program, along with a hypothetical chart set for 12:31 PM EST, and 1 PM EST (NOON CST). The actual inauguration chart has Retrograde Mercury, Sun, and Jupiter, along with Chiron, conjunct in the 10th house, sextile the moon (7th house), and Taurus rising.
A 12:31 PM EST chart keeps Taurus rising, and Jupiter in the 10th, but the other two planets move to the 9th house. The NOON CST chart moves the moon to the 6th house, Mercury, Sun, and Jupiter to the 9th house, and the ascendant moves to Gemini. Oh yeah, Pluto is in the 8th house in all three charts.
So which would be a better chart, a moon void chart with Jupiter in the 10th house? or a Gemini rising chart with the moon in the 6th house of work, and the stellium in the 9th house, except for Chiron, in the 10th?
Sally, I apologize if I'm getting a little ahead of the curve here, but if there's any chance of suggesting a different time for the inauguration, I would think that the time to do it would be now.
I like the idea of enlisting Nancy Reagan's help, but of course, I have no idea how one would go about doing that.
One last thing--Mercury in Retrograde most definitely signifies having to go back and fix Bush's screw-ups, but I think it will probably also mean that satirists who wonder if satire is now dead will have nothing to worry about.

The time of the inauguration 12:00pm is set in stone and the only thing that could change it would be a huge storm, even that would unlikely change the time. Through rain, hail, sleet and snow the latest they've delayed is 12:05, so at this point I would say unlikely.

No VOC for Obama on Inauguration Day!! That is, if you count minor aspects...
Per the Aquarius Papers:
Hi Inanna - Yes, I've looked at it. I may do an article on it in January. Overall, very productive chart, occurring just minutes after the inferior conjunction at 1 Aquarius, showing a presidency for the ages. I've read that many consider the Moon VOC, but it's not. It makes a tredecile with Venus just minutes after the inauguration, and then changes signs moving into a very favorable sextile with the Sun and Mercury then tredecile Uranus and quintile Saturn. That the Moon changes signs immediately after the inauguration will shift the country's direction fairly quickly. Of note is that it's a Bucket with Saturn in the 5th as a handle, and the Grand Earth Trine is very favorable. More to come in January.

Is there an ongoing argument among astrologers on what constitutes a void-of-course moon and what doesn't?
I always heard that it was after the last Ptolmaic aspect. But those who argue that minor aspects count may have a point:
--In 1997, I remember astrologers arguing that Bill Clinton's inaugural was NOT on a VOC moon because the moon and Jupiter/Neptune were inconjunct.
--Then there is the regular-season debut of the old Yankee Stadium, 4/18/1923. It happened on a VOC moon, which indicated that the stadium was indeed abandoned, albeit after 75 years. However, I think that the aspects surrounding the stadium's debut does a lot to explain all those championships. Before Yankee Stadium debuted, the Yankees had never won a World Series; 75 years later, they have won 26.

Back on Obama, I suppose I should take my assurances wherever I can get them. Besides, I would think that Jupiter in the 10th house would be a good placement to begin the term of a head of state.
NEO, I'm still not sure if minor aspects should count for a VOC moon/not VOC moon, but "a presidency for the ages" sounds mighty good. www.aquariuspapers.com is a new site to me. I'll look forward to reading Robert's post in January.

Aspects are aspects, is my take on the matter, Gina. I've read many arguments for both sides, and while indeed minor aspects by definition have less "kick" to them, it is kick nonetheless. And we need all the kick we can get these days.
Robert maintains an ongoing collection of insightful astrological articles. Here is a passage from his "Quintile, Tredecile, Decile, and Biquintile" article that specifically describes the Tredecile aspect the Moon will be making at the expected moment of Obama's Inauguration:
---
...we now take a look at the least-understood aspect in the series, the Tredecile, which precipitated this article for reasons I'll make clear shortly. This is a highly specialized aspect of 108 degrees, which besides being a mythological "Sacred number" symbolizing Divine Mother Energy, is also the complementary angle to the Quintile. Thus the Tredecile indicates a very special type of unique energy that complements whatever uniqueness, gifts, or specialized quintessence are occurring at the moment in a situation.
I have seen this aspect operate in several fashions, and all seem to involve a circumstance presenting itself that perfectly fits a unique gift or need, or a gift or unique quality that fits the need of a pre-existing circumstance. The Tredecile is complementary, interactive, and specialized, the "quintessence" of a thing perfectly complementing the "quintessence" of a circumstance. When active, it seems to bring forth unique qualities in situations that involve interaction to bring forth awareness, completion, polarization, or re-polarization. The points opposite the planets in Tredecile are often associated with how the energies manifest, some need being fulfilled, some promise brought to expression, or some specialized gift or talent completed.
I have given it the keyword "SERENDIPITY." I believe this is the best descriptor for how the Tredecile works its magic. So exactly what does this word mean? We are told the definition of Serendipity involves "the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for" and "an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident" and "good luck in making unexpected and fortunate discoveries."
(Much more at the link...)
http://www.aquariuspapers.com/astrology/2007/01/quintile_tredec.html
If my interpretation is right, it seems that Obama and his administration may turn out to be unexpectedly fortunate happenings for the US, or else will bring about unexpected fortuitous happenings or inspire them within the country in some way, shape or form.

CLEVELAND, OH (Tues. Nov. 11) - Proud Army Veteran, Beth Ann Kucinich, beloved youngest sister of Congressman Dennis Kucinich, died today, Veteran's Day, at Veteran's Hospital in Cleveland, after a battle with acute respiratory distress syndrome. She was 48 years old.
Her family was at her side throughout the three week ordeal, as she struggled to survive while on life support.
Beth Ann Kucinich served in the US Army at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. A talented musician as well as an artist, she sold many of her works of art to her fellow veterans at the Brecksville Veterans Center. Her specialty was drawing famous cartoon characters for friends and loved ones on special occasions.
An avid heavy metal fan, she attended many local area concerts and practiced her own music with a guitar, with an extraordinary impression of Janis Joplin.
"She was pure love. Every action, every sentiment, every piece of art, every word she spoke was an expression of love. Beth Ann was our family's angel, our 'Heavy Metal Angel', said her eldest brother Dennis.
"Our brother, Perry, passed away last December. Beth Ann never got over Perry's sudden passing. The two had been inseparable. She talked about Perry constantly and she longed to be with him," Dennis said.
She was the beloved mother of Asher; treasured sister of Dennis, Frank, Gary, Teresa, Larry, and the late Perry Kucinich; and dear aunt and a great aunt.
The Kucinich family will receive visitors at Golubski Funeral Home, 6500 Fullerton Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, November 12, 4pm to 9pm, and on Thursday from 9:30 am until 11:00. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, with interment at Calvary Cemetery

Don't worry about Obama. When he first entered the race, I said that he was a man with a mission, and he won't be going anywhere until that mission (whatever it may be), is fulfilled. Nor should you be dismayed at any of his picks - any that are unworthy will eventually fall by the wayside (voluntarily or involuntarily).
I was just watching the Lee Atwater Story on PBS. Some piece of work he was. A horrible little man, and I've never seen karma meted out so swiftly, and hit someone upside the head (literally). But at least he didn't hide his true colors. The people I'm really disgusted with, are the ones who enlisted his help to win elections - foremost among them George Bush Sr. I never liked the man, and wouldn't trust anybody who was a former CIA director to be President. And of course Karl Rove, Atwater's protege, was the architect of George Bush Jr's 2 election wins. Apple didn't fall far from the tree, as I've said before. In the documentary they showed George Jr. as a young man campaigning for his dad. He looked like Lucifer. If anybody should be considered the Anti-Christ, it should be George Jr., spawned by the demonic father, Gerge Sr., and there was Barbara Bush, the mother of all evil celebrating her husband's ill-begotten victory. What a family! Wouldn't have had any desire, or consider it a privilege to meet any of them. Not even money can buy good character or ethics. I remember my mother saying never envy anybody who was rich or powerful, because you never knew what they had to do to get there. I wonder what kind of karma awaits the Bushes.

Everybody and their brother is wending their way to Congress with hat in hand to get a helping of the 700 billion of taxpayers' dollars. Some, like the American car cos. are going for second helpings. I say let them all file for bankruptcy, and overhaul all their bloated financial operations. Don't know about Ford or Chrysler, but GM practises nepotism (jobs pass from one generation to the next), and pays their employees fat salaries, with hefty pensions, and paid healthcare well into their retirement years. This is how they are rewarded for little creativity, and lack of innovation. They still produce over-priced gas-guzzling cars that drive consumers to buy foreign. I happen to own a Chevy that I paid too much for, and I have an extended warranty that has a $100 deductible each and every time that I use it, and the GM Service Center never fixes anything properly. I always have to take my car back one or two times, so the employees are either poorly trained, or lazy, but I, the consumer am the one who makes it possible for them to retire with full lifetime benefits. I don't see any reason for them to be rewarded further with taxpayers' dollars so that they could continue to run a bloated company with no desire to improve their cars, or the way they operate. It's just throwing good money after bad.

Anyone else notice how "nice" and "gracious" Bush is being now, since he doesn't have a McCain/GOP administration coming in behind him in January to cover his tracks? Do not, I repeat, do not take your eyes off this man. Until the final minute of his presidency has expired, he is just as dangerous and destructive as ever, if not moreso.
Bush realizes that Obama will not pardon him, and that as of high noon on January 20, 2009, he is on his own in terms of defending himself, his disgusting behavior and his awful tenure as President. His name is mud, he is universally despised and hated around the world, and all of his family's ill-gotten riches, going down in flames with the market and soon to be followed by the oil and weapons industries, will no longer protect him. There is no place he can run and hide... no, not even to Paraguay.
He is literally trying to get away with committing murder. He must be made to answer for what he has done, in a court of the very same law he and his ilk have so desperately tried to subvert and destroy. If he had any genuine niceties or grace left, he would cease all further efforts to burnish his already deplorable tenure, resign as soon as possible, and turn himself in at the International Criminal Court.

Watched and listened to Alice Walker last night on DN, qop. I cried. And again when the young member of Veteran's for Peace spoke.
Crystal, love your fiestiness.
Neo, the application of the Tredecile and other subtle (or not) aspects leads me to wonder whether or not the VOC Moon will become obsolete given all the possible variables. Not a practicing astrologer, this statement may seem outlandish. Gina alluded to this earlier.
Yes, Bush appears to be gracious. I'm certain it's purposeful, to counter the image many Americans have of the white republican party. Behind the scene activity is entirely in opposition to this appearance of civility.
Atwater -- and his adherents including Rove -- are a part of the mirroring effect, showing us the worst of humanity. It's not just a kooky idea to speak out, and act with kindness. To act without need to have another entity mirror the dark side of ourselves seems to me to be a part of this shift in time and consciousness.
Am already using the Change.gov site. My first suggestion was a Tabula Rasa Economic Plan. Wipe the slate clean and write off debt for taxpayers. Begin again but with stiff lending regulations, and oversite. Coordinate the Tabula Rasa Economic Plan internationally, with part of the plan focused on investing in the poorest areas of the world (including the US). Monies would go to sustainable farming, and green technologies. Stiff oversight required. Anyone else with suggestions?

Crystal; several years back my friend and fellow May 4th taurus, was awarded a grant from the Barbara Bush foundation to start the SP/E group in town to serve the 180 Mexican imports, hired to work the sea cucumber factory. SHe was adamantly looking for someone to accompany her because she had to shake hands with and receive the check personally from Babs. Not looking forward to it.
Neobuckeye.........."Anyone else notice how "nice" and "gracious" Bush is being now," But did you see his CNN interview? He just couldn't resist saying "I'm just as American as he is." referring to Obama. ( NAh nah ne nah nah!)
Unfortunately; all 20% remaining bush supporters must live in Bangor Maine. You bring up war criminal & they all say Well then Truman was a war criminal! Never mind the he has been dead for how many years and bush is still alive and walking free!
I penned a rather strong response, not that they will be able to take it in.

Sally-thank you again for this article. I believe that something on the level you deliniate is occurring and I am comforted by the associations you have uncovered.
If you have the chance read the open letter to Obama from Alice Walker-she brings forth many of the same themes and connections that you do but not as an astrologer rather as a poet.
For myself I have opened to hope in a way that was not possible for me earlier. I am working on lifting my sight to a higher truth lest the naked evil parading around as if nothing will ever stop it. I am reminded again of MLK's words that goodness takes a while but is absolutely accurate-he of course used his wonderful gifts to say it but I am encouraged to believe that justice and honesty and goodness do win out and guide us in our journey.

GREAT writing as usual Sally. THANK you so much once again.
Just read this on Huffpost ... from an interview done with Obama in 2004. Wow, a man of deep spiritual understanding indeed. Perhaps there is a little subconscious Buddhist influence from his years in Hawaii too.
--------------
"On heaven:
OBAMA: What I believe in is that if I live my life as well as I can, that I will be rewarded. I don't presume to have knowledge of what happens after I die. But I feel very strongly that whether the reward is in the here and now or in the hereafter, the aligning myself to my faith and my values is a good thing.
When I tuck in my daughters at night and I feel like I've been a good father to them, and I see in them that I am transferring values that I got from my mother and that they're kind people and that they're honest people, and they're curious people, that's a little piece of heaven.

I saw that article Kiwi and was very impressed with it, in spite of myself I have been very impressed with Obama. The GOP Governors are meeting to discuss what went wrong and why they lost and how they lost, then you read something like this and wonder if the GOP reads at all and if they think beyond power, greed, winning at all costs and themselves. Palin said today if the Democrats cannot turn this country around the GOP Governors are ready to step up and do it for them. Now that's intelligent and helpful, I don't think they've received the memo that we are sick of them and their double time dictatorship and that's what the "memo" basically said.
I will continue to hold onto the Pluto oppose US Venus and then Jupiter (the aspect coming up)
as a signal that over the top greed is over for big business. I see that falling over the next 8 years. The younger generations see a different world, it will take them a bit to get back to the one we are leaving.
I couldn't find Alice Walker's poem about Obama, does anyone have a link to it?

As I posted yesterday on Nancy's Starlight News blog, the best cure for what now ails the Republican Party may be death itself. Or that is to say, the termination of the entity born on July 6, 1854 and the dispersal of its' increasingly toxic, reactionary and ultimately destructive energies.
Parties do fold in US history, and there comes a time when all organizations simply become moribund, for lack of relevance or meaningful purpose. The Republican Party has never been particularly concerned with aiding the public/common good, but from George H. W. Bush (Sr.) onward it has become increasingly less concerned about maintaining even the pretense of serving the better long-term interests of the country. It has now devolved into an organization whose sole objective is to grab and maintain power for power's sake. This fact is the fundamental root cause of Bush's disastrous eight years as President, and so long as it goes unaddressed, it will mean the disaster of any and all future Republican attempts to increase their power.
The GOP needs to be brought to an end. Conservatism will live on, and may yet find its way back, through Bob Barr's Libertarian Party or something along those lines.

Hoo-boy, Naomi nails it again. I intended to ask about how we dismantle the military industrial complex, something Klein could address, for the major bank players are a large part of this juggernaut.
Bankers fear -- and rightly -- that we are truly going to rise up and stop playing the patsies. Every war occuring now -- in all areas of the world including the Congo -- are tied to resources that the military needs, and tied to objects the military created including all the latest electronic gadgets we consume without regard to the toxic wastes we create when we dispose of the last gadget in favor of the new one.
The complexity of this is almost overwhelming given that the military intentionally placed parts and munitions factories in every single state of the union, thereby ensuring every senator and governor would fight to keep those federal dollars.
What do we do, and what can we do to address this, for i believe it is at the root of this madness.

No question about that!
And COngressman Kucinich was just interviewed on CNN, regarding the Congressional grilling ofPaulson's bailout actins.....1/2 the money is GONE! No set up for foreclosure victims, no regulation! And Cummings..........
It's JUST GHASTLY!
Bailout for GM,..........Back in 1981, I bought my first used dsl Rabbit, getting 50 m p g. U=I had a friend who worked for the local GM plant. He was so impressed with my mileage, that he bought a GM diesel cadillac. It was a mess...more than once he called me to come pick him up where it had quit.
After 6 months of that he traded it in for another GM product! I put another 150, or so on my Rabbit.
Same time period, I had a mural client in Delaware. SHe bought a brand new sporty model caddie..........& had 3 flat tires in the 2 weeks I was working at her house. To make matters worse, they had neglected to give her the key to the locked spare tire compartment. SO the first flat wa a real nightmare. Turned ot the wire wheels were the culprit, poking holes in the tire!

It looks as though fire season is all year round in Calif. now. Don't remember it being that way when I lived there ('87-'90). Seems to have gotten worse over the years. I'm beginning to have second thoughts about moving back, since I'm older now, and don't relish having to be roused in the middle of the night, running out in my nightie. Bad enough that you have to do that with the earthquakes. I keep forgetting what mtns. Morgana lives in. Hope the fires are not around there. "Although being elected president of the USA is regarded as ultimate success by the whole world, to Obama as a person its costs are tremendous. He knows it, and he's willing to pay the price – but to him personally, it involves more of a sacrifice than any personal gain. He will not even get a salary that compares to what's demanded of him. Not to mention the complete loss of a private life.
Previous presidents have mostly been driven by aspects to the 11th or 10th House – those of public fame and social career. I made the mistake of taking that for granted. But this guy actually does if for ideal reasons, sort of like a patriot going to war. He knows it will hurt him, but that won't stop him.
Not only is this election historical because of the new president's skin color, but also because of his conscience."
-------
An interesting interpretation of Obama's inauguration chart.
I think these few paragraphs above are a pretty good summary why he was able to make such an instant connection with billions of Earthians.

Hey Crystal,
I spent 42 years in Southern California I am familiar with all the places that are burning. Back in 89' we had some horrendous fires, my scrying mirror was forged in the ash fallout that Samhain. Though I do appreciate that you can wear shorts in January and run barefooted nearly year round. I don't miss the crime, smog, and densely packed humanity living in the asphalt jungle. I discovered utopia in 94' and I'm staying here.
No the fires are no where near me this time. I'm in the Santa Cruz Mountains north of Monterrey Bay along ridge that becomes the Peninsula south of San Francisco. You can google Boulder Creek it's in the redwoods. This has been a terrible fire season, it started early and is staying late. It feels like summer today, and that is way too warm for me.
I got this Youtube post earlier today and I'm thinking as an astrologer that maybe I have not been looking big enough that I am only focused on the a small bit of a much bigger picture.
Anyway enjoy this!

Outsider, I share that astrologer's view concerning the theme of sacrifice and Obama's 12th house. I think his 12th house holds special significance, because of the planets placed there, and the fact that they are both retrograde. There's also something he said which echos what I posted a few weeks ago - that Obama's well-developed conscience would not let him do wrong.

The Secret Service will be busier than ever before, dealing with all of the ignorant and angry Americans whose fortunes are crumbling to dust by the day, yet are far more preoccupied and distraught over the mere fact that a black man is now President(-elect) of the US.
Bush is a white man of privilege who openly thumbed his nose at the common American citizen, and yet this catastrophic failure of a chief executive could do no wrong for many of the same people who hate and desire ill for Obama for the mere fact that he is black. Nevermind that Obama might yet save the nation, with the combined help and support of many Americans who are awake and realize what is truly at stake for their country and the world itself.
---
Election spurs 'hundreds' of race threats, crimes
By JESSE WASHINGTON
Cross burnings. Schoolchildren chanting "Assassinate Obama." Black figures hung from nooses. Racial epithets scrawled on homes and cars.
Incidents around the country referring to President-elect Barack Obama are dampening the postelection glow of racial progress and harmony, highlighting the stubborn racism that remains in America.
From California to Maine, police have documented a range of alleged crimes, from vandalism and vague threats to at least one physical attack. Insults and taunts have been delivered by adults, college students and second-graders.
There have been "hundreds" of incidents since the election, many more than usual, said Mark Potok, director of the Intelligence Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate crimes.
One was in Snellville, Ga., where Denene Millner said a boy on the school bus told her 9-year-old daughter the day after the election: "I hope Obama gets assassinated." That night, someone trashed her sister-in-law's front lawn, mangled the Obama lawn signs, and left two pizza boxes filled with human feces outside the front door, Millner said.
She described her emotions as a combination of anger and fear.
"I can't say that every white person in Snellville is evil and anti-Obama and willing to desecrate my property because one or two idiots did it," said Millner, who is black. "But it definitely makes you look a little different at the people who you live with, and makes you wonder what they're capable of and what they're really thinking."
Potok, who is white, said he believes there is "a large subset of white people in this country who feel that they are losing everything they know, that the country their forefathers built has somehow been stolen from them."
Grant Griffin, a 46-year-old white Georgia native, expressed similar sentiments: "I believe our nation is ruined and has been for several decades and the election of Obama is merely the culmination of the change.
"If you had real change it would involve all the members of (Obama's) church being deported," he said.
Change in whatever form does not come easy, and a black president is "the most profound change in the field of race this country has experienced since the Civil War," said William Ferris, senior associate director of the Center for the Study of the American South at the University of North Carolina. "It's shaking the foundations on which the country has existed for centuries."
"Someone once said racism is like cancer," Ferris said. "It's never totally wiped out, it's in remission."
If so, America's remission lasted until the morning of Nov. 5.

Good analysis outsider by this astrologer. I have contended however for over a year that Obama's win would not be found in his chart because this election year really wasn't about the candidates, it was about a movement that has been growing since 2000 and picked up steam in 2004 to break free full blown this year. This election was about a movement of the people toward change, not Obama, his was just the face of change. You can find Obama's win in his announcement chart of Feb. 10, 2007 at 10:13am, Springfield, Illinois, that's the chart of the movement that is still gathering steam.
Neo, your posted article was also very good and as always your comments before the article were profound. I was struck by the quote in the article from a Mr. Potok "Potok, who is white, said he believes there is "a large subset of white people in this country who feel that they are losing everything they know, that the country their forefathers built has somehow been stolen from them."
It's interesting to think that Mr. Potok and others believe that "white" people only built this country, they should tell that to the Chinese buried under millions of miles of railroad track throughout this country, or the hispanics, blacks, ha, native American Indians whose blood, sweat and tears cover this country like a blanket, along with white men as it was built. Men? Lord what about the women and children, I wonder if they believe that group made any contribution at all. It isn't or wasn't Barack Obama who stole "everything" their forefathers built, it was the white man who betrayed them.
Outsider, the comments by that astrologer made me think of a song by Daniel Fogelberg (SP?) "Run for the Roses" there is a couple of lines in that song that came to my mind;
"It's breeding and it's training
And it's something unknown
That drives you and carries
You home."
The refrain, to me speaks of destiny. Obama isn't the only man of destiny in history, but he seems to be the most recent.
"And it's run for the roses
As fast as you can
Your fate is delivered
Your moment's at hand
It's the chance of a lifetime
In a lifetime of chance
And it's high time you joined
In the dance"
Obama's Sun and Mercury are in the 6th house of service (as well as other things) in the US chart Venus rules the 6th house and Obama's Venus conjuncts the US Venus. The american people perceived him as someone who understood their service to this country, and the greatest majority of us "serve." We sub-consciously believed him to be one of us, someone who understood our sacrifices and validated our service and elevated what we, the masses do to keep this country going. Still it is "we" the people making this change in the country, not Obama, he has simply tapped into and is following us.
It's high time you joined
In the dance --

I, for one, am so embarrassed to be a pink person... & sad. Contrary to their imagined "superiority," they are the MOST unevolved & childish among the humanoids. At the least hint of not getting their way, they throw themselves on earth's floor, kick their feet, & scream at the stars... one huge temper tantrum. That's what a patho-self-centeredness can do. It's also fear that the "scary other" will do to them what THEY have done to others... THEY are the scary other. What a mess!!

Sally-again thank you. Yes this election is a
reflection of what is growing and Obama'x 6th house/12th house axis would indicate that he is here to serve. No matter the disappointments I know and you know and many of us know that we will continue and we will not be conquered because this is a spiritual reality that cannot be stopped with material weapons.
joanaaoregon-I share your anxiety. I am amazed that some cannot see that the 'world" is brown that we pinkies are a minority no matter what our conquering leaders may have taught us. but don't shrink away in your embarrassment just stay and radiate the consciousness and love the earth has given you-think of it as your harvest that you offer to all.

I agree joannaoregon, I've not been too proud of pink, however I don't think we are the only unevolved of the species. I see tantrums in all the races, it's just that "pink" has been the majority and held the balance of power for so long they think their fits will win the day and they have. I look at the leaders of African countries, and see immaturity there as they gather up their fellow africans as slaves and to torture and instill the fear of god into them. I see the Middle East doing the same kinds of things, I don't see maturity coming out of Isreal or Iran or Saudi or Pakistan, any of them. I have friends from Vietnam and they are saying that all is not in Vietnam as they want it to seem, people are repressed, starving, frightened etc and what of our brethern in South America and Mexico and their willingness to turn their people over for slave labor to American and European countries and they would do the same thing in this country if given a chance. I just see very little maturity among leaders anywhere no matter their color. Is it men? or is it simply the human race and their lust for power and money and is that just ingrained, the "give and inch and we'll take a mile" mentality?

Well any research done on the more equatorial areas, before the many invasions from the extreme north of the planet, aka pinks, showed not a sign of walled cities or forts or WAR. That came much much later as the invasions from the pinks tipped all life into their violent self-centered world behaviors (just like they're doing this very minute). It doesn't matter now anyway, they're all violent. And if one researches into any areas of the world having violence, I guarantee there'll be the pinks behind it... raking in profits for theyselves. There couldn't have been any basis for the technologies we enjoy today, that were developed over a long long period of time, had there been violence/war continuously moving back & forth over the land. And I don't mind that any here are not believers, but you might start with researching Catal Huyuk, for instance. Nuf said from my direction.

wv and Neo-Buckeye--back in the '90s I was loosely associated with a wonderful group called "Neighbors' Network." They were located in the Atlanta (GA) area and assisted people who were victims of hate crimes.
For example--when a black family moving into a white neighborhood was targeted by burning cross/ or graffiti, etc. the Neighbors' Network would actually provide people to spend the night sleeping on the lawn around a house so the home-owners need not fear while they slept. That is rather wonderful, don't you think?
My job, as a LOL (Little Old Lady) was to attend meetings of a right-wing theocratic church based in Marietta GA (just north of Atlanta). These people were Dominionists, i.e. ready to take over the US government and turn it into something consistent with dear old Salem, Mass. during the witch trials. Spooky, indeed.
I remember especially my first annual banquet, when the patriarch at my table mocked the "global warming hoax." None of the women at the table spoke--of course.
Among the guest speakers was Bob Barr--hat in hand--asking for this groups' support.

Joanne, there is definitely a lot in the "pink" psyche of which to be afraid and to dislike, however it is a matter of degree, as you must know. There are probably more pink "light workers" on the planet than ever before. Then there are the well meaning ones who don't even know that they are racist or privileged or entitled but try to do good (I see it in family members but it's probably also there in me, just hard for me to see). These are some of the people who were suspicious of Obama at first but ended up voting for him. Racism is an incidious thing. Then there are the blatant racists. I noticed that in Bogalusa, La (my current home state) a group of 6 Klan revivalists were all arrested when one of their potential members from OK was killed at a secret meeting held at a campground. I hope they ALL go to jail for as long as possible.

From The Nation mag, "A New, Blue Dixie." This fun & heartening.
It was hot as Hades on June 5 in the little mountain town of Bristol VA. But that didn't stop 100s of SW Virginians--in the most staunchly Repub part of a state that hadn't voted Dem for pres since 1964--from streaming into the local high school gym to whoop it up for a liberal, mixed-race fellow from Chicago with a mighty suspicious moniker. Fresh off his lopsided, nomination-clinching primary victory in NC, Barack Obama had chosen--to the mystification of political experts--to launch his general election campaign not in the "battlegrounds" of PA or OH but in a remote Southern backwater containing 17,000 souls who'd given GWBush 64% of their vote in 2004.
Strangest of all, he spoke to these people in exactly the same way he had addressed stadiums full of urbanites in Philadelphia or Cleveland. "It's not just struggles overseas. It's also struggles here at home that are causing so much anxiety," he declared w/o the merest hint of a drawl. "Everywhere I go, I meet people. They are struggling to get by. We just went thru an economic expansion period...where corpo profits were up, the stock market was up...& the avg family income went down by a 1000 dollars. The first time it had ever happened since WWII where the economy's growing, but you have less money in your pocket."
The folks in Bristol cheered at that, & they listened attentively as Obama detailed his healthcare plan. But what brot them to their feet was this: "When I announced [my candidacy] I was convinced the American people were tired of being divided--divided by race, divided by religion, divided by region." ... http://www.thenation.com/doc/20081201/moser

I do agree Joanna that the white color of the species spread a great deal of the disasters that plagued this world. It was a mistake to let them "go out and conquer" anything at all. Did you ever read Ishmal? It's a great little book that discusses the "leavers" (that would be tribal influences)vs the "takers" that would be what we have morphed into the last several thousand years. It's really a good book.

And I've just about finished a wonderful book by a female neurologist, Jill Bolte Taylor, PhD., who had a stroke exactly like mine d/t a congenital blob of mishooked up veins in the brain. She has a site on the internet as well with an utterly fascinating talk about how the brain works in the creation of consciousness.

Another fascinating thing about the brain is that the corpus callosum, the nerve-rich padding between the lt & rt hemispheres is thin to almost non existent in the pink male so he's stuck in the left--linear thot & thinks that's all there is to experiencing the world. What's more is that the left hemisphere, when missing some idea connections, makes up stuff to fill in the blanks. It LIES. How's THAT for weird. It appears that if you don't use it, you lose it. Oh, I almost forgot. Gay males generally have as thick a padding as females. ;O)

JoannaO, that was indeed a fascinating and moving account by Dr. Taylor of her experience with a stroke. I think she actually had one of those near death experiences which lead to a moment of truth. Did you have anything like that happen to you Joanna? It's the initial stage of what many who meditate, like the Indian Holy Men, and others closer afield, experience, and describe as the state of Nirvana. They become drunk with ecstasy or bliss. It must be a right hemisphere brain experience, because they also experience a Oneness with everything in the Universe, where there is no "good" or "evil", no "hot" or "cold", no "you", or "me". In other words, none of the duality that we experience in the physical world. It's a state of consciousness that makes millionaires walk away from their millions, and no matter how clearly it is described, you cannot understand it unless you experience it for yourself.
I think this is our natural birthright, but unfortunately, because of the way society is structured, most of us are forced to unlearn most of it, in favor of "education" and "indoctrination" . A few lucky ones who retain the connection, become the true creators and innovators of our world. Everything springs from the same source. Maybe that's why I have trouble believing in the Devil. I feel that at some time in the near future everybody will be able to hook up to a machine and experience this feeling of ecstasy, and oneness with all of creation, and maybe then, the world will truly be a more peaceful place.

Joannaoregon,
More like recovering from the venomous campaign season. I see where Lieberliar got a pass today, Pluto is square his Neptune, Saturn is forming a trine with his Saturn, Mars, and Uranus (widely on Uranus) in Taurus 6th house, Mercury is opposing his Saturn and Mars...I would have expected more than a slap on the wrist. I must remember we have only just begun and that there are more battles to come. Meanwhile Bush is doing his level best to derail Obama and tie his hands. So maybe this is a breather, I haven't cobbled together more then a couple of paragraphs lately. I'm looking forward to seeing who is in Obama's cabinet. I heard wafted through the air waves a while back that Caroline Kennedy was a possible candidate for UN Ambassador, now that would be slick. And if Hillary is SoS, then maybe Robert Kennedy Jr, if he doesn't get a cabinet slot will run for her seat.

* Obama focuses on results in cabinet selection
By Edward Luce in Washington
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton fought the campaign to be the Dem pres nominee on the basis of “change” vs “experience”. But Mrs Clinton’s potential appointment to Mr Obama’s cabinet and the inclusion of dozens of former Clinton officials in the president-elect’s transition team have convinced many people that “experience” will be the ultimate victor.
Not so, says the Obama camp. “People are fundamentally misreading how Obama is making his appointments – this is about ‘change with experience’,” said an unpaid adviser. “He is choosing people who he believes can get things done – not on the basis of their ideology but because they are competent.” ... http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/2ece59c0-b5a4-11dd-ab71-0000779fd18c.html

Eric Holder for AG, 1/21/1951, Bronx, NY, no time. He's another from the Clinton presidency.

The "furniture" for change is now in place. Expectation & Hope is beginning to build. Is this Incoming Adm simply another "swing" of the eternal pendulum? Will results be obtained merely because those who are "in charge" know what they are doing? Will the world be "lost" if another leader loses his way?

Hi Sally,
Belated Happy Birthday wishes to you.
And congratulations on a wonderful piece of writing.
Here is a paste concerning the inauguration of John Kennedy.
http://www.jfklancer.com/jfk/wp'61.html
Kennedy Takes Oath as President,
Proclaims a New 'Quest for Peace'
By Edward T. Pollard
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, January 21, 1961; Page A01
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was inaugurated 35th President of the United States yesterday as the sun glorified Capitol Hill in the happy aftermath of a crippling snowstorm.
...
The official temperature was 22 degrees, 10 below freezing, as the great drama of the inauguration began. A sharp 18-mile
wind was blowing from the northwest. But the sun, flooding down from a cloudless sky, took some of the bite out of the
cold, and gave a radiance to the freshly scrubbed Capitol and to the flags whipping the white marble portico.
Precedents Fall
It was 12:51 p.m. when President-elect Kennedy, great-grandson of Irish immigrants, began repeating the oath
of office after chief Justice Earl Warren. When he uttered the final words, "So help me God," some fascinating precedents
tumbled into the history books.
...
Best wishes to you for a healthy, happy, and stable birthday year ahead.

Thank you everyone for your kind salutations on my birthday and I had a much better day than Ted Stevens whose birthday is also the 18th of November, Joe Biden's birthday is listed as Nov. 20th, 1942 and I hope he has a good year as well.
During the election season Obama said several times, "we have serious problems in America that needs to be dealt with, and you may not always like what I do, but if you stay with me we will overcome our problems." Right now I am thinking with his "redux" DLC cabinet that A. We've heard this before "change, new ideas" from George Bush as he did a redux cabinet, and B. Obama was right "we may not like what he's doing." That said, we don't have to trust it for 8 years, or even 4 years and we need to keep watch. The DLC is and always has been GOP light, big business at the heart of their policies just like the GOP, big business has cheated the people long enough and we absolutely want to make our voices heard loud and long. I believe Obama to be a good man with good intentions but he could also be misguided in how those intentions can be carried out. I hope Al Gore is a frequent visitor to the WH because he really does have new ideas and I would love to hear what Howard Dean (who's birthday was the 17th) has to say. There isn't any doubt that we have some struggles to endure, but I would sure hate to endure them for the same old solutions.

JoannaO, I'm so glad that you mentioned the Jill Bolte Taylor book, and provided that link here. I keep going back to the link and getting more insight into her experience. The first time I just watched, and listened to her teaching video, but now I went to Oprah.com at that link, and watched a more detailed account of her experience in 4 parts, as Oprah's guest. Just fascinating. She can at will go to that place of Nirvana whenever she chooses - somethng that takes people years of meditation to accomplish. Not only that but it is a revelation of what is going on in the minds of people who have mental disabilities, Alzheimers, stroke, etc., who are aware of what is going on around them, even though they are not able to express it in words. Her book can help millions of caregivers, and doctors learn how to treat their patients. Boy, she certainly had a mission in life. My sister is a District nurse in England, who visits sick people, mostly critically ill, in their homes, and ministers to their needs, and they just love her, because she is a real Florence Nightingale, so I thnk I'll send her that book for Christmas - she lives in England. I 'll buy a copy for myself too. I wonder how I didn't hear about her before. I'm not sure when she publishd her book, but I think she's been speaking about her experience for some time now. Thanks again for making me aware of this person Joanna. I knew there was some reason for you being here on this blog. Has anybodyelse gone to the link that JoannaO provided, and explored all the nformation there? Simply fascinating.

Belated happy, happy birthday wishes to you, Sally!
And for Ted Stevens' birthday--a new Senator for Alaska, one not named Ted Stevens, and most definitely not named Lady MacBush. Yay!
I am happily sending out these wishes and cheers from my new computer. My old one crashed frequently, so I'm looking forward to posting a little more often, maybe.
Speaking of destiny, when the Phillies won the World Series, I suspected that it might be a good omen for Obama--and for us. Yes, the last time they won, in '80, we got Reagan. Only now, I'm thinking that maybe Obama will turn that legacy around--from '80 to '08.
The 44th President also shares a number with one of my baseball heroes: Hank Aaron wore a number 44.
I don't know much about numerology, but I thought those numbers were pretty cool.

I do think Morgana is right, the office of the Presidency will change Obama. It really doesn't matter who is president, there has been so much enacted by GWB the incoming president has his hands tied in many ways. It seems all outgoing Presidents play the same games, enact as many laws as possible to hamstring the incoming president. Government is an interesting body of folks

Happy belated birthday Sally!!!! Here's wishing your new year brings you abundance, peace and joy.
The job is so huge Obama has no choice but to enlist those with an inside track know-how.
A bit like a large ocean liner in a storm, it will take all hands on deck and many miles travelled to even begin to change direction, let alone reverse course. Lets hope the captain of the ship continues to inspire his crew with straighforwardness, common sense and honesty so they don't regress into backstabbing and mutiny before the new compass course has been effected.

RAYMONDVILLE, Texas — A county prosecutor who brought indictments this week against Vice President Dick Cheney and others pounded his fist and shouted at the judge Friday during a routine hearing. Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra asked Presiding Judge Manuel Banales to recuse himself from the case, which alleges abuse at federally run prisons.

It's been 45 years since the assassination of Jack Kennedy (JFK) and every November 22 I think of it. From the time he was shot at 12:30 until his heart stopped beating about 12:55pm there was never a possibility of saving his life. There have been several presidents assassinated in this country, in fact we are known for it and yet none cling to the collective soul like Lincoln and Kennedy and I think that's because we were never told the truth about who really killed them or why. So now it's November 22 again and again I think about it.

The problem with not knowing the truth is that it feeds conspiracies of all sorts. Mine remains that George H. W. Bush had a major hand in Kennedy's murder, via the CIA. His family has sought the destruction of the country and its' people for years. I think he was behind the attempt on Reagan's life as well so that he could have taken control of the Presidency much earlier than he actually did.
They have nearly achieved that goal concerning the destruction of the US with Dubya, but maybe a bit too well. The billionaires and elites were supposed to get off easy, but as we see, many of them are losing everything, and more will join them. In addition, the Bush name may now be the most hated in the world since Hitler. The Bush-Kennedy link may or may not exist, but certainly, it seems as if karma has finally caught up with the Bushes.

I agree Neo and have wondered what would have happened if Reagan had died and he had become President. In fact, it was rumored at the time that Prescott Bush had a hand in the attempt on FDR's life which never got off the ground when one in the group told the Secret Service. If you ever get the chance, listen to Eisenhower's farewell speech.

I don't wish Ann Coulter any ill will, but good grief, talk about poetic justice! She is definitely the lower type of Sagittarius, a self-righteous moral reactionary with diarrhea of the mouth, spewing opinions thoroughly laced with and derived from her ignorance. Maybe this is a "parting gift" of Pluto in Sag? It's as if the universe were telling her to shut up and LISTEN and THINK for once, which could pretty much go for Fox Noise, Bill O'Reilly, the Reactionary Religious Right Wing, the NeoConservatives and pretty much everyone who has trumped sound reason with their big and loud mouths for the past 13 years. Good riddance to the Pluto in Sagittarius era!

Several months ago I wrote that the economy was going to collapse and it would be artificially induced in order to strip this country, but it would not go as the "masters of destiny" expected. Once the hounds of chaos have been released no one can really know what door they will attack, and the would be "masters of industry" are about to find that out.
Iceland is broke and there have been rioting for several days as Icelanders demand the resignation of the government they believe got them into this mess.

Again, it isn't about Obama or the governments or what they want to do, it's about us and what we do. The Matthew Article that Joanna posted is absolutely correct, the impact of world wide hope and light and belief will raise and change the vibration on this earth world wide. It will take a time to get out of all this mess and Obama may be long gone by the time we do but we will continue to climb toward a different way of doing things. WE have to keep those candles of strength and joy and faith going, not Obama if not him we will find someone else. People all over the globe are standing up.

I echo QOP's remark. I love the holidays from Thanksgiving to the New Year because I spend that time reflecting on the year past and what was done well; whether "well" means a lot of beautiful sunrises and sunsets, a snow, rain, the gurgling sounds of a baby, the lined faces of a life lived beautifully, a new President and a turned corner.
I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and to say that all of you have given me a joy that isn't surpassed in my "other" life. The knowledge, the intelligence, the thoughtful responses, the well thought out ideas, oh yes, that is something to be thankful for, bless all of you.

Happy Thanksgiving! It's been a day of cooking and aromas filling the house. An evening of food and friendship, laughter and more food and a tad too much wine. I hope this new moon in Sag. was as intoxicating for everyone else that it was for me, that we have a day of fellowship. So my family was happy, no fights, no drama and for that I am grateful. I made scratch pies, then men raved (they know where their bread is buttered) and my gravy was lump free. It's the wine, I could ramble on..so..

Venus, Jupiter and a crescent moon _ will crowd around each other for an unusual group shot.
Starting Thanksgiving evening, Jupiter and Venus will begin moving closer so that by Sunday and Monday, they will appear 2 degrees apart, which is about a finger width held out at arm's length, said Alan MacRobert, senior editor at Sky and Telescope magazine. Then on Monday night, they will be joined by a crescent moon right next to them, he said.

I had not gone into the future for a long time. I was startled feeling a reality in my bones that I will probably not participate in.
gave me a shiver to look over the edge of now which I can because of living with this one born just at the beginning of Pluto Sag-my studies when young and my love for him and his friends allowed me a peek into their world.I had an intuition of Pluto in the natal chart-Pluto can and no doubt does in various mixtures represent the darkest and the light of the placement-seems we have seen the worst of Pluto in Sag but these young ones will also manifiest the highest.

A good one by Mark Morford! Teehee...
"They say it is the end of Wall St. It is the end of the stock mkt as we know it, the end of investing with any sort of perky unruffled assurance or stability or sense that this thing called creative financial planning is somehow reliable & trustworthy & not some sort of insulting schizophrenic cosmic joke.
It is the end of a huge chunk of your 401(k), much of your home equity, the end of relying on your portfolio or your investment broker for some sort of basic reassurance that all's well, for the thinking that, hey gosh, retirement sure is going to be one spectacular, endless cocktail cruise. O, how fickle & quaint & rose-colored it all now seems.
Then, widen out. It is the end of the idea that, no matter how much raping & pillaging & looting we subjected her to, the US economy would be solid & impervious & utterly unsinkable. Ha. It is very much the end of thinking the US is the strongest & most unwavering entity on the face of the planet, because aren't you just the cutest blind jingoist ever & by the way China now owns your driveway & most of your children. Pluto slips into Capricorn joining Venus/Jupiter and the Moon, not by degree but by sign and the Hindu's say that the first degree of a sign conjuncts all the other planets in the sign no matter the degree. If that's true what would that mean for humanity? More greed for one thing and a lust for more power in the short run. 0 degrees of any sign is not only a critical degree but it's a magical degree as well. Think how you would want your world to look like in 16 years (the time it will take for Pluto to go through Capricorn) what do you wish to accomplish, how do you want your world to look like? What would you welcome into your life, how many gifts are you willing to give and receive? Ask yourself these question consciously and authentically for your self.
In the short term there is likely to be or an attempt to impose rigid restrictions on people from multi-national corporations as they attempt to impose totalitarian rule over the people all over the world. This is the plan, and it's believed they have accomplished the opportunity with the world struggling against financial collapse. Certainly every astrologer I know believes this will happen in the first few years of Pluto's transit through the sign of the goat. That is a real distinct possibility, but something inside of me says "no" the people will push back. When Pluto was last in Capricorn the "New World" America, pushed back against what were the multi-nationals of their day, in the 1760's, I believe we will again.
It's striking to me that with the dynamic aspects, people always seem to assume that power is in the hands of those who seem to be against the masses, and yet the aspects impact all. It's almost as if there is a belief that if trouble is coming, the masses will be the ones to suffer and forgetting that we are all the masses, no matter what side of the pond or fence on which we reside. Aspects are not "them" against "us" aspects impact everyone, so the imposed restrictions from Pluto in Capricorn could just as easily be the people directing the multinationals as to the focus of their future direction in order for everyone to prosper. So you see how important it is to determine the direction you wish your life to take and to join with like minded people to bring those "wishes" to pass.

Sally,Dear One, thank you for this posting. Yes I am thinking of the Uranus square Pluto in 2012. I think that will give the New World Order people a true challenge and a new anthem will be written by "we the people". Yes we are all the masses and I do agree that we must visualize (to use an over used term)what/where we want to be and join with others. This could be an honest return to the ground based, human values we have all been missing.
Everytime i hear someone discussing how those like myself with a certain avoirdupois and heart trouble and diabetes are eating up the whole pie I cringe-I know that this is their (the NWO folks)first attempts to prepare us to accept their pruning/culling the heard. I also know that I walk daily, work fulltime, foster my granchildren, pray and participate with those of like mind. HMMMM!?!? Wonder which life style will end up lasting the longest??
Any way thank you so much for this reminder of who the masses are. What an affirmation for the day/week/month.

wow, that took several attempts. But i'm IN!
Happy Thanksgiving ALL! We had a wild and crazy weekend with a house full. What a blast. Our entire dinner was done in dutch ovens (large cast iron pots heated with wood or charcoal) The 23 pound turkey was cooked to perfection but required two manly men to bring it into the house.
Yes, Sally, your post was -- again -- serendipitous, for i had just read this
http://www.theoilreport.com:80/oil-news/iraqs-oil-the-greatest-prize-of-all/
Part of the people revolution began with the internet -- giving access to a variety of information that would have, at one time, been gleaned from reading several national journals and scholarly books every week. Hopefully, this revolution will continue to spur the other -- the one where we say "NO! No more!" from now on we share, and treat the earth kindly, and find ways to heat and cool our homes that keep us from enslaving others. . .and so much more that we can do right now and keep on doing until the paradigm has shifted entirely from this dense dimension.

Clymela, in 1932, '33,'34 Uranus squared Pluto from Aries to Cancer and they both aspected Pluto in the US Chart, one by opposition and one by a square and those where the years Roosevelt won (1932) and while still in a deep depression the US was beginning to dig out of it. Uranus giving the kick start to restructure the distribution of wealth from the uber wealthy to the sharing with the populas and the US begin a long road toward growth inspite of WWII as Roosevelt promoted hope and a "can do" spirit. 1931 was one of the most difficult of the depression years while Saturn was in Capricorn, Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Cancer and the people in the US and around the world began the chorus of "that's enough" Hoover was gone the following year. Roosevelt certainly was not a perfect President and lots of people hated him, but not enough hated him to stop his re-energizing of the US. It won't be exactly like that this time but we can draw on some of the lessons learned during that period.
I have had to re-start my life at least 4 times, going from nothing to back up that mountain and I am absolutely not the only human being to do so. It's frustrating and at time fearful so I take comfort in the history of a humanity who have had to do the same thing time after time. Like MLK, some of us may not get to the mountain top with them but we as a people will get there.

Great article and it's made me conscious that "oil" is what we used to do and they cannot think of anything new. We are living in the past for sure. I have a son who is very single minded (electrical engineer) and for 40 years I have made candied yams for Thanksgiving and Christmas because I love them, however no one but me ever ate them because the kids didn't like them at all. This year I decided not to make them, it seemed a waste and I really didn't need to have them so no candied yams for the table. This "single minded son" who never ate them in his life, said "where are the yams? The table doesn't look right without the yams, why didn't you make them?" I explained my reasoning and he said "well there is a whole new generation of kids who might like them and I want you to make them at Christmas so we can at least have them at the table." That's what we do with oil, living in a past that is not even valid anymore because it doesn't feel right to a certain segment of the population not to have oil on the table. Simply unable to move away from the yams that you don't really want.

Like you my favorite is the candied yams Sally ( tho one year I was inspired by the great variety of sweet potatos available in my {chain of only 4 locally owned } grocery store.
I took 3 kinds of sweet potatos and yams AND BEETS, slsiced them all a parboiled and layered them in a casserole as for trad. candied yam recipe. ( butter brownb sugar maople syrup and fresh squeezed orange with the find grated in. I topped it with cranberry rasberry preserves.and baked it. Yuuuuum!
But this year I baked a yam in it's sleeve, and put the butter brown sugar& cinnamon........on it at the table...........even better than the casserole.

clymela, the simple answer to that is we are still in Orwelland!
It WILL change...........but NOT overnight!
Funy, I have posted this before. WHen My Dad was under going chemo, back in '79 or '80, the HOSPITAL GAVE him M cigarettes, for the nausea & against hair loss.
THEN THE WORLD CHANGED........on 1/20/ 81, NOT 9/11/'01! The War against Sanity began on that day!
This is a very interesting BUT long read.........
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sean-penn/mountain-of-snakes_b_146765.html
He tells about his visits to Castro & Chavez.......
and I realize I let a prime opportunity slip through my fingers in '89. I had a boarder, daughter of one of Perez's elite guard, who had sent his treasures ( son & daughter) out of Venezuela, in advance of the coming coup which established Chavez as leader of the country.
She, Jose, was a Veterinarian ( having studied at the New Bolton Center ( U of P's Vet school), but wanted to teach dressage. SHe did the go round about green card vs job, chicken or egg first? And finally, after several months, went on to BArcelona to join her Brother being unable to get into this country!
Oddly she answered an ad in the paper, and when she arrived we discovered our common interest in the horse world as I was being an equine artist at the time...............
So we never talked politics, just horses.......

Pentagon to Deploy 20,000 Troops Stateside (Welcome to Pluto in Capricorn)
Pentagon to Detail Troops to Bolster Domestic Security
By Spencer S. Hsu and Ann Scott Tyson
Washington Post Staff Writers
Monday, December 1, 2008; Page A01
The U.S. military expects to have 20,000 uniformed troops inside the United States by 2011 trained to help state and local officials respond to a nuclear terrorist attack or other domestic catastrophe, according to Pentagon officials.
The long-planned shift in the Defense Department's role in homeland security was recently backed with funding and troop commitments after years of prodding by Congress and outside experts, defense analysts said.
There are critics of the change, in the military and among civil liberties groups and libertarians who express concern that the new homeland emphasis threatens to strain the military and possibly undermine the Posse Comitatus Act, a 130-year-old federal law restricting the military's role in domestic law enforcement.

Everyone is supposed to reap their own karmic reward I'm told, but on this level apparently murderous criminals eat off gold plates while others go to electric chairs. Some folks work hard their whole lives & eat on scraps while others work nary & eat sumptuous meals from gold plates & torture behind their backs. I'm just not a fan of that system & it hacks me off.

Warning to those who live on the West coast, or even plan to visit. Be careful of venturing out too far on the promontories (land that juts out into the sea). I just saw on TV where a Physics professor from SF was swept out to sea by a giant wave on the Mendocino (voted one of the prettiest places in the U.S.) coast. It was the 8th such occurence for the year at that location.

As if THIS wasn't well suspected by many of us but it was early yet in ridding ourselves of crippling dumminess I think. Surely our govt was basically a good entity. Bah. Humbug. They did the same thing to President Carter, too.
* LBJ Tapes Contain Unexploded Bombshells -- Lies, Treason and Perhaps Tens of 1000s of Lives Lost
Historians and investigative journalists -- even govt prosecutors--need to get cracking to explain & connect the dots from new details coming out in just-released recordings from both the Johnson & Nixon presidencies. LBJ was furious with Nixon, audiotapes of phone conversations now show, over the likelihood that Nixon put politics first ahead of bringing the Vietnam war to a swift conclusion in 1968. As LBJ told Senate Repub leader Everett Dirksen, "This is treason."
In a separate, historically key conversation, LBJ warned Nixon directly & repeatedly that Nixon's "people" appeared to be sabotaging LBJ's peace overtures with Vietnam. In a conversation on 11/3/68, two days prior to the presidential election, Johnson confronted Nixon on the issue, but Nixon told LBJ point-blank, "I'm not trying to interfere."
That was a blatant Nixon lie, other historical documents seem to show. And far from his only one, as we now know. Nixon had campaigned on the promise that he had a "secret plan" for ending the war; meanwhile, he &/or GOP activists worked behind the scenes to convince Vietnamese diplomats that "Nixon will do better by you" if they only delayed peace talks until Nixon was in office. A Nixon supporter, Anna Chennault (aka Dragon Lady), apparently played a key role: ... http://buzzflash.com/articles/analysis/542

Saxby Chambliss was born Nov. 10, 1943 in Warrenton, NC, I am taking a noon time in lieu of an actual birthtime.
He either has a late Aries Moon or early degree Taurus. With Jupiter in Leo and Mars in Gemini sextiling Jupiter he could be considered a fortunate man, I experience him as sleezy, I guess that's not too objective. His natal Mars is 20 degrees retrograde Gemini, and his Saturn is 25 degrees Gemini retrograde. Progressed Mars has gone direct in his chart and is now one degree away from Uranus in Gemini, and his Saturn has retrograded back to conjunct his Mars. With that kind of set up, especially with transiting Saturn/Uranus squaring his natal Mars and progressed Saturn, I am stunned he won, he can be a nasty piece of work at this point in his life.
Caroline Kennedy is up and wants Hillary's Senate seat in NY. When her cousin said the other day that he wasn't interested in the position at this time, and Caroline had not shown an interest in being the UN Ambassador, I wasn't surprised to hear Caroline saying she wanted it a couple of days after RFK Jr. said he didn't want it. She is a very intelligent and accomplished woman and will make a good Senator, I am just surprised to see her get into politics. She was born Nov. 27th, 1957 at 8:15am in New York, NY.
When her brother died I wondered then if Caroline would want to pick up the Kennedy political mantle or feel that she should in some manner pick it up, so her endorsement of Obama wasn't a stunner to me particularly since she had been a bit more visible since her brother was killed, but I thought she would step in at the 2004 elections. I think she will make a good Senator, but I'm not sure if she will like being in the public eye or even like being a player on the political stage. With her Sun and Saturn in the 12th house of her natal chart in Sag (her ascendant) she keeps much of herself hidden, however there is a great deal more to her than meets the eye, and I think most people have always gotten that about her.
Her Chiron at 13 Aquarius conjoins her Moon at 15 Aquarius and Chiron has progressed to be exactly on her Moon, transiting Chiron has also just passed her Moon; Caroline has emotional scars that will never heal for her and picking up her family's mantle would seem to be healing for her at least to her. She knows her Uncle Teddy is passing and she also knows she is the final strongest link to the Kennedy legacy, none of her cousins could quite fill that bill. What this family has given to and lost to politics and this country is an amazing saga, and I wonder if they could even answer the question of "why?"
Perhaps the "why" is hidden within the spiritual DNA of what we agreed to do and be before we were born. I believed in the Kennedys when I was young, I continue to believe in their dream of equality for all but this particular line of Kennedy born of Joseph and Rose seems marked for tragedy in service, from their eldest son Joe Jr. right down to John Jr.
Looking at the family chart, her reasons for wanting this Senate seat are far more complicated than I suspect she even knows and I sincerely pray for her health and safety. She will make a spectacular Senator for the people of NY and for the country.

Sally, I really am fond of Caroline Kennedy. So much of her mother's refinement is reflected in her, and I hope that she does get that Senate seat. I think she's very intelligent and capable, but without being showy, or overly aggressive. I also think that her Saturn in her 12th house of sorrows, conj. her Asc., tells of all the personal tragedies she has endured during her lifetime, but it seems that it's the Kennedy men, and not the women, who seem to have untimely appointments with Destiny.

Well there was Rosemary who was slightly brain damaged at birth and her father had her undergo a lobotomy which left here seriously mentally handicapped and Kathleen who was in the WAC and also killed right after the war in 1948 in a plane crash and then of course the men. There are certainly many families who have undergone extraordinarily tragic destinys and aren't Kennedys, but they have certainly been the poster child for family travail. I think the fact that her father and brother were killed under suspicious circumstances is odd, as well as her Uncle and some of the things that happened to Ted Kennedy. It doesn't matter that he brought a lot on himself, but other high profile people have done as much or worse and they didn't seem to be targeted. I just wonder about all the families who seem to have so much to endure and then the families who seem to go through generation after generation relatively unscathed.

Couldn't get on this morning, Sally. Hopefully the challenges to typekey have been resolved?
There's something reflective -- again, and no surprise -- about the Kennedy legacy. We projected upon them our hopes of the time, but other, darker projections were carried out on the physical plane. Times they are a changin', so perhaps Caroline will have greater success helping create programs that empower those who need it most.
There's something about Chambliss that will show up shortly. . .but again, it's just a feeling.
I have another question, Sally. This about the coming Full Moon planetary configurations with Uranus as trigger. If i remember correctly, one of the things that Uranus rules is nuclear power. On May 18, 1933 Tennessee Valley Authority was created. The potential of something occuring with power facilities exists, but of course, a lot of scenarious could exist for this coming Uranus-inspired bruhaha.

well I tried testing but can't tell.
I have never looked at Caroline Kennedy's chart. I will look now but Chiron conjunct moon in Aquarius!! Of course "we" can see it in her life but to see that placement gives me even more respect than I had. I always look for chiron now right up there with the big three-sun,moon and ascendent and pluto. I learn so much about the emotional nature of people or situations.
Okay here comes the cliche-ouch!!! I thought I had a "difficult" chart but hers is painful and it all unfolds in the public arena. I wasn't surprised by the 12th house placement of sun/saturn but the moon/chiron/uranus gives tremendous sorrow in a shocking manner and then through mars/n node keeps resonating eternally. Yes Sally I also wish her the best and I feel some level of hesitation for her.

The truth about this incident that took place more than a year ago, might finally be coming out now, but I don't expect justice for the Iraqis, since the Blackwater guards are former American Military personnel, and they usually received just a slap on the wrist for similar crimes committed in the past.

Many AWs have been following the political prosecution/persecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman. Today in Atlanta GA (scheduled start--9 AM EST) a 3-judge (all Republicans) panel of the 11th Circuit Court heard an appeal from Siegelman's and Scushy's attorneys.
Locust Fork Journal was there and has an early post up.

The Illinois Governor's case seems to be the top news today. On a blog (but not on any tv news I've seen) it was reported that the FBI wired the Illinois Gov's office and recorded the Gov saying to his aide:
Obama and his people have someone they want me to appoint (as senator to replace Obama) but all they'll give me for it is their appreciation! (Expletive) them!

Every credible source is saying that Obama wanted nothing to do with Blago's pay-to-play scheme, and he wasn't about to pay one dime to get his choice for his Senate seat appointed.
The excerpts from Mr. Fitzgerald's transcript show that Obama has nothing to with this. There are even rumors that Rahm Emmanuel turned him in. I don't know if they're true, but I wouldn't be surprised.

As President-elect Obama works to make good on his promise to shut down Guantanamo Bay, including the military commissions system that his predecessor put in place, and which has become the butt of worldwide ridicule, the Defense Department’s close-knit circle of neoconservatives is busy laying traps and bombs to obstruct Obama’s plans. Their objectives are clear: they want to push the process of the commissions as far as they possibly can so that by January 20, Obama is presented with a fait accompli.

Here's some food for thought to all who choose to doubt astrology -- Today is Blagojevich's birthday, he turns 52. Sagittarius moon on 12/12 is a really wicked one and will effect home and relationship situation, especially for those born around that date. There are plenty of reasons to call Blagojevich's political career a "family affair" since he married to Chicago Machine politics.
With Pluto moving to Capricorn - and his money sector - just a couple of weeks ago, he would've had a green light to greatly advance in his financial dealings... as long as they were proper and legal delaings, that is.
But looking at Sagittarius situation between 12/21 - 12/31, he might just get lucky and find an easy way out, like in that fable where an evil pike was sentenced to be drowned in the river for his sins.
