I debated between that title and the one I felt was more accurate "The Death of the American Dream Directed by George Walker Bush."
The smartest men in the room, the denizens of finance, titans of big business, the shape shifters of Wall Street have pushed us back to the feudal system and Paulson gets to be the Masser on the big Black horse cracking the whip deciding how and where to spend our money. Lehman executives alone get $2.5 Billion in bonuses and we pay for it. Hank Paulson, (March 28, 1946 N/T Palm Beach Florida) former head of Goldman Sachs and architect of this high technology bank robbery. Hank is now shocked and surprised at how bad things are, in spite of the fact that loud warnings have been ringing daily for over a year. Wow, to think he and Ben are surprised boggles the mind. The Head of the Treasury and the Head of the Federal Reserve didn't know what was happening when nearly the most financially ignorant in America knew what was happening. Gee, when did their incompetence reach such historic levels, not until they received millions off our backs and now they want a blank check for well over a trillion and some say (if you can get your mind around this) a quadrillion, even his conservative base is up in arms over the proposed deal. They have missed how angry and how hurting Main Street is at this time. It's the economy stupid.
To think Republicans are worried that Obama will raise their taxes and their party of choice just raised taxes on the American people to historical levels. For what? For a giant pay off to wall street crooks and cronies. Well soon Neptune will be on the US Moon and big pharma will have enough drugs out there that we will no longer care.
Fascism American Style presided over by Henry (Hank) Paulson and his band of stooges. It's kind of hard in this situation to grasp who is the stooge and who isn't, but the Fascist intent is certainly there. "Corporate Socialism" is the more polite term.
Henry Wallace, FDR's first Vice President, wrote a very interest essay in 1944 outlining how to recognize fascism in America and it could have been written in 2000, or they've been working on it since 1944.
The history of Jekyll Island seems to me to be a perfect name and setting for the secret meeting of the ancestors of today's titans as they formed a "Jekyll and Hyde" type of system for the Federal Reserve and taught their sons and grandsons how to keep it that way and how to keep it in the hands of "the families." The Jekyll Island meeting on November 22, 1910 is often overlooked by astrologers, and yet it is the inception of the Federal Reserve Bank; after three year gestation period it was born on Dec. 23, 1913, again in secret.
Neptune was at 21 Cancer when they huddled on the island to hammer out their plan for the United States and it was at 27 Cancer, directly across from the US Pluto when their plan was finally born and given a name, The Federal Reserve Bank. The Neptune cover to the US Pluto enabled them to implement a scheme for permanent insolvancy of the American people and over the years they've simply improved upon their original idea. The final touches in place when Neptune crossed over Pluto in 1998/1999 and soon after we saw the dot com bubble break, but that wasn't enough, it needed a tough de-regulation law which the GOP Congress wrote and beleagued Bill Clinton signed, probably part of his conditions to keep from being put on trial after he left office and maybe an attempt to save the Democrats good name while going into the 2000 Election. Right now, progressed Neptune is squaring the Jekyll Island chart's Moon in Leo, again covering up exactly what's going on from the people.
Does it matter, does it matter what "they" are doing or how many times they've done it and how many times "we" the masses have just laid down and let it happen and it is happening again with us screaming all the way, but it's happening.
Going forward is and will be somewhat of a dark period of time unless each one of us digs down and finds our own joy and trust in ourselves and not man, money nor governments. The amount of this bail out boggles the mind and now we are bailing out some foreign banks, something, ha, ha, ha, this group said they would never do. Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan are now full fledged banks can you believe that one. Can't help a falling Main Street but Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan just waltz in and get what they want at the same time putting themselves under the protection of the bail out system. I would bet that before 2020 everyone has to bank at one of these two banks.
I wonder what it is that every 80 years or so the banking moguls feel the need to drain the funds of the world, but they do. We all scramble trying to save something that cannot be saved and the wheel then starts going around. These same families are always involved and none of them ever go to prison or rarely even tried in a court of law.
I don't think there is a crisis and if there is one it was man-made. If Dodd and Schumer want to tell us the "chilling" news they received from Paulson that makes them think "something must be done now" the people would love to hear from them. I suspect Dodd and Schumer and all the rest of them are like us and want to save their own portfolio.
Will this all be over turned, oh yes it will after these vampires have sucked so much blood they are too sick to hang their heads and the game begins again.
Pluto was in Cancer leading into and during the Stock Market Crash during the 1920's, in fact, Pluto was at 0 degrees Cancer when the Federal Reserve was put into place on 1913 and he will stand almost exactly opposite that 0 Cancer before Christmas. The last time Pluto was in Capricorn we were not a country and it wasn't until Pluto hit Aquarius that we actually became a country. The 1776 Declaration of Independence was basically a war chart toward England. In the early 40's Pluto went into Leo, the US declared war and we started working our way out of the depression, but not until there was war. How did that work out for us?
Not too badly, the 40's were stressful but people worked together to get through it all, by the end of the 40's the war was over and people were starting to look ahead. The 50's were fantastic for some of us as the country soared with new jobs, new construction, new auto's, all the restrictions of the depression and war seemed to be thrown off. Everyone was happy with what they got. Turmoil took hold during the 60's in this country but still growth on a mundane and spiritual level during the 70's and 80's and 90's and the bubbles were put in place. Now we are at the place we started as Pluto begins it's transit in opposition to the 1920's and in it's home when the "New World" began their unrest and wanted to be their own country. We were pretty broken up as a country and it took almost a century to incorporate the entire US, we might break up again and incorporate the entire continent.
I know there are dire predictions out there with Pluto going into Capricorn and most of them are correct, however I don't think "the people" will be the only impact for Pluto. I believe Pluto will separate fact from fiction as it opposes it's 1913 place and goes on to oppose the US Venus, Jupiter, Sun and ultimately Mercury, in fact Pluto was conjunct the US Mercury in 1933 when Hitler sent "bad news" around the world. Maybe by 2024 election we will have the exact opposite of Adolph Hitler, like we had the exact opposite of crazy King George in the 1700's with Washington.
This is a game fellow travelers and it's been played over and over, with any luck Pluto in Capricorn will ultimately balance the ledger sheets on the side of the people. Oppositions can do that.
When the talks at Jekyll Island finally resulted in the Federal Reserve Bank, Pluto, as I said was at 0 Cancer, Uranus was on the US South Node in Aquarius and Neptune was opposing US Pluto in Capricorn. In the 2000 elections Neptune was on the US South Node and an attempt was being made to pull back what had been lost since the FDR New Deal, his plan in the 30's and 40's had made an end run around the Bankers and the fights been on ever since. He didn't destroy the banks and WWII helped them to recoup the losses from the depression but the regulations placed on Wall Street kept them from making more and more and "The Families" have spent the last 50 years convincing themselves that they were cheated and trying to chip away at the New Deal.
Roosevelt was one of "The Families" and they felt betrayed by him. Remember the Martins and McCoys and the ongoing family fight? They fought for so long no one even remembered exactly what caused the fight; it's the same in "The Families." They've passed down the hatred for Roosevelt and his New Deal and the betraying democrats for so long that they cannot at this point thing of anything but destruction of the whole government, in spite of the fact that it's been the government and the faith of the people that have made them the money they are so desperately trying to grab all for themselves. In the early 1900's with the advent of the Federal Reserve and Pluto going into Cancer and the US 8th house of "other people's money and resources" it was the people who lost, now there might be a chance for the pendulum to swing back to the people; absolutely there will be work involved and the concept that we have no power has to go, but it's possible.
When the Feds came into being, Saturn was Retrograde at 13 Gemini, it went direct on Nov. 21, 1963 just one day before Kennedy was killed in Dallas. Kennedy had announced a couple of weeks prior that he was taking on the Federal Reserve and their policy of bankrupting the people in the country. In the Feds progressed chart the only thing retrograde now is progressed Neptune at 25 Cancer, moving away from US Pluto and their ability to hide has been compromised.
We are so sure we are seeing what we think will be a meltdown for Main Street, so sure we are seeing "the other" those with money and power, putting the boot down on the people once again, but are we? I admit it looks tough right now, but with Pluto coming to oppose the US chart and in stress aspects to the Federal Reserve Bank System and Wall Street, I am not so sure it's as cut and dried as it appears. I guess we have to ask ourselves the question "would we be willing to conserve a bit now if in the long term it would make things more balanced?"
Astrology isn't about just one aspect it's about a whole array of aspects and a whole array of possibilities. While today's transiting Uranus is in a trine to the Fed's Mars it's also in a square to the Feds Venus and to Wall Street's Mars. There are multiple charts to delinate - Wall Street, Federal Reserve Bank,. the US Chart and Jekyll Island to name a few. Then when you slot in the players and how they will respond to what they've created the outcome doesn't look so good for them and it looks better for the people. We need to face the fact that we have let crooks run this country for too long without demanding accountability. We are beginning to demand it now, conservatives and liberals alike.
Wall Street is in for a jolt with their Mars at 18 Virgo and the Saturn/Uranus election day opposition hits that point, no indeed the outcome is not all cut and dried for the long term.

Sally wow thanks for delineating all those charts. The Jekyll Island meeting in secret, the Kennedy assassination. It is time for these families to fall on the hard times that they have imposed on the peoples of the world. The crushing yoke the IMF and World Bank have put on developing nations has reduced them to poverty. All over the world we have seen and are seeing the People rise up and say ENOUGH! Americans need to say ENOUGH.
Good job! There is so much more to the picture then was visible before. GOTV!

All right, Sally. That is a wonderful piece-hard hitting and inspiring.
I for one don't mind some strictures if i can imagine a more just agreement.
Another astrologer on the internet is saying that Pluto into Capricorn means that the commoners will do much better because we are entering a time when power comes from the bottom up instead of the top down power of the Cancer through Capricorn part of the cycle. I loved that idea.
I also am relieved to imagine a much larger frame than that of the current election cycle which is depressing right now.

Mighty fine article, Miss Sally. I'm not quite sure, however, why it should be the "Mother..." instead of the "Father." It's the "fathers" who are/have been acting out (eg. the burning times), not the Mothers, & it seems to me that the slipping of the word into the collective unconscious can have some dreadful reprocussions. Just thot I'd get that off my chest.

Hi, all,
Remember Elliot Spitzer . . . the former governor of New York. I always wondered what set the FBI off poking around in Elliot Spitzer's "love life." It seemed to me that the Feds (Bush Administration) needed to get rid of him for something. This article was published about a month before Spitzer was charged with bringing a prostitute over state lines and was forced to resign. Too bad. I always thought Elliot Spitzer would be president someday.
This is what they needed to get rid of him for. Sniff . . . sniff . . . smells like Cheney.

Is this his " HERO" ,MOMENT?
Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today made the following statement announcing a plan for a new Ownership Society:
"The Wall Street financial disaster is an opportunity to create a genuine ownership society. If Congress invests $700 billion in the market, then the American people must get something of real value for their investment.
"Simply purchasing bad debt, "cash for trash" and not receiving anything of value or giving $700 billion and not having a commensurate equity interest in Wall Street firms is unacceptable. No "cash for trash".

Shortly, Mercury will retrograde. Whatever is decided this week will have to be redone. This factor fits quite nicely into your conclusion, Sally -- this outcome is not cut and dry.
qop, i have long agreed with Dennis. Return the money to the people. Or use this money -- in fact most of it to improve our infrastructure, fund green technologies, etc., etc.
One of the incredible aspects of this debacle is that reps from across the aisle are aligning with one another to condemn this bailout plan. I'll bet this has taken the administration by surprise!

Now this little tidbit is part of what the paulsen plan cohorts vision, right out of The Family playbook.
from Democracy Now:
"Army Unit to Deploy in October for Domestic Operations
Beginning in October, the Army plans to station an active unit inside the United States for the first time to serve as an on-call federal response in times of emergency. The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent thirty-five of the last sixty months in Iraq, but now the unit is training for domestic operations. The unit will soon be under the day-to-day control of US Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command. The Army Times reports this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to Northern Command. The paper says the Army unit may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control. The soldiers are learning to use so-called nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals and crowds."

Read an article and I am trying to find it by Kenneth Gailbreth (John's son) and he said the people in this country actually have this government inbetween a rock and a hard place and if the Dems push Paulson and Bush would have to accept their deal.

Paulson plan throws oil on fire
By Hossein Askari and Noureddine Krichene
With the creation of the so called Mortgage and Financial Institutions Trust (MFI), the unfolding financial crisis, considered by many to be the worst in over 60 years, has become ever-more dangerous.
While such an institution has not existed in any country, the MFI could prove to be disastrous for US public finance, economic growth, the dollar, relations with major foreign holders of dollars, the global financial system, and could ignite the worst inflation in the economic history of the United States and reverse globalization to levels not seen since the Great Depression.

I remember when one of my first "real" jobs was working in a large bank, built all huge to intimidate, & the 20 somethings then all agog about all the money they would make & all the things they would buy. Mom/Dad already had put downpayment on the HUGE house they would live in & they'd go from there. Money, money, money, money, money, money... that's all they thot about. You might say it was what you'd expect at a bank but the same conversations were going on everywhere. Me-me-me my-my-my mine-mine-mine. Wish I could go live on another planet that spent their time with music, dance, making real love, snoozing, swimming, spiritual/character development. Nothing changes if nothing changes. Back in the early '70s, when I got a Fed civil service job, I was proud that the US Gov gave me the same shot they would give a guy. (Not so common, then.)
Anyhow ,then I swore to myself that I would not "sell-out" nor compromise, but would behave bravely. It pleased me to discover that the "bureaucrats" I worked with wished to do their best, patriotic Americans, wanted government programs to work, by and large did a damned good job.
But what surprised me was that most of these people (majority men) in one of the safest jobs in the country, were very, very afraid of rocking the boat. Their parents were all survivors of the Great Depression.
This time period was just the beginning of the "private industry can do it better" campaign. We had many county governments at that time managing food stamps with a very low error rate, and at very small cost.
A big corporation came in--wanting to take over food stamp issuance In one state at a huge increase per transaction.
The men in my regional division were very hesitant to oppose this corporation, which (as they were told) had huge influence in Washington.
One state Director asked us Feds for guidance--hoping, clearly, that we would say no to this corporation, which had influence in his state. He didn't dare say "no" himself because of the political climate.
At this time there was a very funny cartoon at many copy shops (this was before everybody had a copier) of little characters falling over themselves laughing, with the caption, "You want it when?"
I copied the cartoon with a new caption, "You're going to charge what?" And sent it to the state
Director.
Meanwhile we had a meeting at the regional office, and I (only woman there) said to my fellow bureaucrats (mostly good ol' boys): "Maybe this corporation does have influence in Washington. Maybe they can roll all over us. But are we just going to lie down and let them?"
The stiffening of their spines was encouraging to see. Long story short, the corporation lost this one.
The moral is, the guys I worked with were ok people, but they were taught to respect authority and were not confident at challenging people who they felt were "above" them.
How we need scrappers now.

Karen, loved your descriptive post comparing the US taxpayer to a hooker. Hahahaha; yes indeed.
JoannaO, just love your 11:11p.m. post. Couldn't agree more.
Enjoyed watching Henry Paulson sweating, stammering, and stuttering under Congressional questioning today, while Ben Bernanke tried to intimidate, and scare taxpayers into believing that this was the only road to their salvation. I wasn't at all convinced. Sounded just like another snow job. These crooks have no shame. Even at the eleventh hour, they are still trying to bamboozle the American taxpayers.
They are trying to sell the American people a bill of goods, because inspite of all the dire warnings, Paulson still refuses to tie any bailout by the taxpayers to curbing the excessive bonuses of Wall Street execs, and the obscene salaries, and golden parachutes for the CEOs. I think this has to be the first step.
Otherwise, all the ailing financial institutions should do what Merrill Lynch, Lehman Bros., etc. did - sell themselves to the highest bidder, and let them be accountable for paying back their own debts! That might work even better than the $700 billion bailout by taxpayers, especially since nobody can guarantee that the latter plan will work.

Joanna, I love Mark Morford.
So now we find out that they have had this bailout plan for a few months, they knew there was a problem all along.
I don't know if anyone saw Wanda Sykes (the comedian) on Leno tonight but she was hilarious. Said "This is corporate welfare and I want them living in the projects, standing in line to collect their social service checks and cashing them at the check store, the one next to the liquor store. I don't just want oversight, hell, I want receipts."
It is incomprehensible to me that they are even considering placing 700 billion, and counting, into the hands of the same incompetent (or thieves) that got us into this mess.

November 4, 2008 - Election day in the USA
November 4 is an interesting date, because it is the exact date of the first of three Saturn-Uranus oppositions to come. The previous opposition was in the sixties with Uranus in Virgo (now in Pisces) and Saturn in Pisces (now in Virgo). We are in "opposite" times as well with this reversal of Uranus and Saturn, for there is no hippy movement (Uranus), but a controlled environment (Saturn). Tensions are normal for Uranus opposite Saturn. In this chart we see that Jupiter in Capricorn bridges the opposition beautifully.
This same Jupiter is trining Mars in the chart of the democrats on electionday and with Mars ruling the 9th house, this is good news for
them!
And in the chart of the Republicans we see no specific transits whatsoever. Mars is almost near the Moon, which is probably upsetting news for the Republicans.
Based on these charts alone one would think that the democrats win. The Moon is in Aquarius on election day, at least around the time of the closing of the polls, which probably means that a big shift will occur during the day, it starts with Capricorn, and ends with Aquarius: change.
At least, that is my guess, one of the million of astrologer predictions:-)

If this congress votes for the bailout with few exceptions, then they will have voted themselves -- and the judiciary -- obsolete. We will effectively have become a full-fledged fascist state.
Those entrusted with the nation's trust, with few exceptions, are equally responsible for this horror. For instance, instead of using his time to speak for the people of Tennessee and their outrage, Lamar Alexandar gave a terribly boring (self-congratulatory) commemorative speech for those about to retire from senate. He's one example of how trite the congress has become.

Two wondeful guests on Democracy Now today - Naomi Klein, and Marion Wright Edelman, both activists, well-spoken, and intelligent. Klein was saying that if Mc Cain is elected, he will implement even worse policies than Bush. She also talked about Henry (Hank) Paulson. When he was about to take up his position in Washington, those in the know referred to him as "Mr. Risk goes to Wash." She said that when he became head of Goldman Sachs, their investment debt was at $20 billion, when he left, it was at $100 billion, so obviously this man is part of the problem that we have today, and he is appointed to fix it. What a joke. You know the taxpayers are going to get shafted - he's going to protect his Wall Street cronies of course.

I don't know QOP, but I thought Government was represented by the 10th house.
Saw Nancy Pelosi on TV last night, and her age is suddenly showing in her face. She must be under a lot of strain lately. Either that, or her most recent face-lift is not holding up very well.

Projection of self on community, status & standing, sphere oif influence exerted by profession. But it IS Affairs of country /government! Yes ruled by Capricorn."Birdfeather"

QOP, the 9th house is usually considered the judiciary body, the 10th the head of state, the 11th the congress. In mundane astrology, the 9th house also represents foreign relations, diplomats, law, public faith, interstate commerce, foreign trade, political propaganda, manipulated economies, money laundering...etc., etc. This is from the book THE ASTROLOGICAL THESAURUS, Book 1 by Michael Munkasey.
It also respresents religion! Damn. And philosophical positions.
There will be a debate. McCain is frightened. Saturn approaching his natal Neptune in the 12th house is beginning to take effect. Saturn, lord of karma. Neptune is well placed in the 12th, but in McCain's case it has been the source of secret deals and obfuscation of the truth. It has a natal opposition to his natal Saturn...and the natal Saturn, in turn, is now being clobbered by transiting Uranus. In short, he is about to enter into a mutable T square with his natal Chiron. During the election, this mutable T square will be in full force. Pallas Athena will be sitting on his natal Chiron by transit. We are already seeing him attempt to use her as the strategist, but I don't think she will trump Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. This whole politcal ploy of his of going to Washington, or wanting to postpone the first debate will backfire on him. Evidentally, he hasn't learned his lessons yet. And he will play the victim, or try to play the hero, or he will get quite sick, or he will croak...or have a stroke, or something...just like when he was captured in 1967. Same natal T square kicking up again! What an awful dance...if one could call it that.
Neither Senator is really needed in Washington for this financial quagmire which won't go away, which we know is not going to go away. Pluto is about ready to oppose the US natal Venus...and then Jupiter, etc., etc.
I think the Sibly chart should be amended to 4:10 pm rather than 5:10 pm. If you erect that chart, you get Pluto sitting right on the cusp of the 2nd house of the USA, about to oppose the 8th. That feel more accurate to me.

"I expect that the government bailouts and takeovers will continue at least until the 2008 election is over. Then they’ll let the ‘recession’ happen, confident that it will be over by the 2012 elections. Wrong. This next president (Obama or McCain, it doesn’t matter) will be equated with Herbert Hoover and will be defeated in a landslide in the 2012 election".
"I think my favorite quote for the next couple of years is going to be: “The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.” We’re strapping on our skis".

Crystal, the 9th house rules Presidential Elections (the higher mind) The 2000 Election, at 7:00pm the traditional ending of an election had Uranus in the 9th square the Sun, indicating that ultimately the Supreme Court would settle the election.
As far as Jupiter to Mars, that astrologer is taking the May 13, 1792 in Phildelphia as the Democratic Party Chart. The one I use is the Jackson Democratic Party (May 21, 1832 in Baltimore) that's when the Dems broke away from the Republicans and put up their own candidate and reformed and reconstructured the party completely, so most astrologers use that chart, when I do political charts that's the one I use.
That said, Saturn in the 2000 Election chart could have been opposing the Moon in the 1792 chart, but we can't be sure because we don't have an actual time for the beginning of either party.
One thing I am looking toward right now is transiting Pluto in a square to Mars in the GOP chat indicating a possible implosion of the GOP and they sure seem to be on that path right now, their greatest hope now is to "rig" the election, massive voting might overcome that, but the caging (throwing people off the voting rolls) they are doing right now is troublesome
Because of so much early voting this year, I am inclined to take the time in Washington DC of the last poll closing. So if it's 9:00pm in California, that would be 12:00 am in Washington DC. I am still playing with that. Other astrologers take 12:01 am in Dixville, Notch NH on election Day. So one kind of needs to take several past elections and all the charts and see what were the most historical hits to which chart.
The "evening Venus star" this year is at 20 Sag. and history supports that the Venus Evening Star is a change of power at the government level, that would support the Dems and that star is in a sextile to transiting Neptune and comes close to the Moon in the Jackson Dem chart, as a sextile. I know it seems like lots of things to check but here we are. The other thing that's really important is to check the different states and the candidates and parties to see where how that shapes up for them. The key states are the ones to watch astrologically.

I've been wondering about Matthew joanna, thanks for posting. interesting communication I think, partially because astrologically, while not in sync with other astrologers, this is what I've been seeing for years. Not is all that it seems, I have long felt that the internet exposed so much history, so much information and the centuries of control by the same families, it just felt so obvious that it was all being exposed so they could be disposed. We think of these aspects, well anything really as impacting "us" whoever "us" might be, especially the negative aspects, but we are all "us" including the so called titans of the universe, these aspects are impacting them in a negative fashion, just as the everyday person feels them.

Sent to me by a friend who wanted to share her thoughts (she's a very dynamic person) -
Here’s something we all can do for Barack Obama which costs no money!
To you, my friends, two requests:
1) Several times a day I suggest you say out loud and think
to yourself 'President Obama' and when you do - imagine it being true,
right now, and feeling all the great feelings that go with this thought.
2) Please forward this to friends who you know are voting for Obama, will
be thrilled when he wins, and encourage this be sent to their friends.
Discussion:
It dawned on me that I was getting caught in the fear that
the Republicans create because most of their policies are based
in fear while failing to recognize that the opposite of fear is not
hope but trust. Eliminating fear requires practice of trust and
expectation. Fearing the Republicans is just more fear and
feeds their cause. They want US to be afraid. I don't expect us
to not be fearful of this election, but when we notice that we
are, that is a good time to imagine, say and think 'President
Obama' and experience the pleasure that this reality brings.
When I first thought of this I realized that some, me included,
would react, 'well just thinking about it - won't do it. What we
need is action so, say it!' Saying what you wish to empower will
align us with what we want and more often what we do is imagine
what we want which precedes getting into action. Saying and imagining
'President Obama' is more likely to inspire actions that will
create this wonderful outcome. When we're feeling good, instead of
afraid, resigned or helpless, we will get a lot more done. Practice
this to support you in feeling good and more resourceful. The decision
to send this email came to me last night after deciding to practice this
myself, all day yesterday, 'President Obama' - aaahhh!
I did the math and if each of us sends this to ten others and only
five send it on - in 13 rounds this email may reach over 244 million.
If we send it to more than ten and ten send it on in 9 rounds, 1 billion.
That's staggering and no-one is asking you for money or informing
you that you've inherited money from a long lost relative!
When I heard Barak Obama speak at the 2004 convention, I
thought this man could be President someday. I, like many others, am
inspired by him and sense that behind his inspiring words there is a
strong, thoughtful and courageous intelligence. Let's join together to
make 'President Obama' (Aaaaaah!) our reality. Thanks for your help.

joannaoregon-Thank you for the Matthew link. Strangely the words there touched me deeply-I have even been praying lately for assistance in overcoming seemingly life long negative patterns and I have received the help that I have asked for. At any rate I used to be turned off by Matthew and always wondered why you liked him/them because I have always liked you. Thank you again and I am deeply encouraged to carry on in whatever comes to consciousness in me.
Of course what can we do now but carry on in our spiritual paths-I mean things are definately developing. I really thought that the Democrats would stand up and refuse. Well perhaps that is a sign to visualize the Democrats standing up and saying no and further more telling the trith as they know it to be.
Love and light to everyone.

One thing our current administration is adept at, is creating spectacle, and Mc Cain saw an opportunity for political theater, and seized it. If there is one person on the campaign trail who is totally not in touch with himself, it is John Mc Cain; which is why he'll be forever doomed to be re-active instead of pro-active. As Beasley said in her post, neither Obama, nor Mc Cain, needed to be on Capitol Hill to solve this economic crisis, but it served the Republican's need for spectacle. In the past couple of days, I have seen a few experienced economists say that a $700 billion bailout by taxpayers is not needed to solve this financial crisis, but is anybody listening to them? I think Messrs. Paulson & Bernanke are only to happy to whip the American public into a frenzy, so they can hastily pass a bill that would have their Wall Street cronies going back to business as usual. Many members of Congress, and the American public are balking at the haste in which these plans for a solution are being drawn up. It reminds them of the same haste in which the administration made their case for going to war with Iraq, and we all know how that turned out.
I remember someone on this blog saying that the present system of government as we know it would have to be completely dissolved before real change in government (more like an upheaval) takes place. I think we are standing at that threshold now, and that is why it seems so scary. I am totally without emotion, just watching the spectacle as a spectator. I am so jaded by all the goings-on, but I don't think the quick fix will work this time.
JoannaO, as a matter of curiosity, I will read the Matthewbooks from the link that you provided in your post; I've read it in the past, but don't know quite what to make of the entity from whom it emanates.

I've been watching Katie Couric's interviews with Sarah Palin the past couple of nights on CBS Eve.News, and I think what really will scare me is if she becomes VP, and eventually President of the U.S. I have never seen someone so firm in their right-wing beliefs and superstitions as she is, and the way she smiles (more like a snicker of superiority) when she is parroting them. Talk about high-priestess of a cult - tailor-made role for her.

I watched Palin for the 2nd night on Couric and I was embarrassed - I had to walk away. She couldn't come up with an answer about why being so close to Russia helped her with foreign policy. Katie had to feed her an answer (do you trade with them? -- yes, we do trade missions with them). They are doing the right thing keeping her away from the press. She is likeable and attractive, sometimes sounds capable but she does not know very much about government, at least at a fed. level. She cannot fake this one too much longer. She's going to find out very soon that charm and good looks wear thin. There will be those who vote for her (Clinton is SO empathetic; he went out of his way to say nice things about her and her family) but I think most people see through her - which shows progress. Look how long it took them to see through Bush & Cheney.

We're betting the Feds have it now. Oh way back in 96 my slum lord sold the house I was renting. At the time I had five dogs and couldn't find anyone who would rent so twitched my nose, liquidated my 401k, and borrowed from shady dealers to get into my little 450 sq ft cabin with matching twin on an acre in the forest with a grotto and trickling creeks. Short of it the hillside came down to literally the back doors in El Nino 98'. Anyway when I married my husband I bailed his house out of foreclosure which I am paying for now with an inflated mortgage payment for a house with half the value, though it is bigger then my landslide cabin. So that's how I ended up a homeowner, the dogs needed a house. We can be sustainable here fresh water, plantable land.

Sally, I guess you noticed that a leading Conservative woman (Kathleen Parker?) has called for Sarah Palin to withdraw. Looks like your prediction of Sarah being off the ticket by mid-October is right on the mark.
All the talking heads on TV are repeating the nonsense that foreign policy is McCain's strong point. This is the guy who doesn't know which countries border Iraq and who doesn't know the difference between the Sunnis and the Sheites.
Have to say, I am glad there has been no bail-out decision. Why do Americans have to run off the cliff every time Bush yells, "Danger!" Hooray for Mercury retrograde conj money Venus in "let's weigh all the options" Libra.

Home from work-the first day in over a month. My unit DID ALL MY WORK WHILE I WAS GONE!!! Talk about blessings-I am one grateful woman today.
I am rushing to get dinner on and get relaxed for the debates. I am so curious to see how McCain will come across he has been so weird lately. It will also be fun to watch the corporate media expalin how he won.
I imagine that Pluto in Cap will first show as too much authoritarian control and cold heartedness but in the end we will see through that and come out with a healthier more mature understanding of the importance of accepting responsibilty for our lives and our society.

clymea, re the corporate media explaining how McCain won--this morning on the Wall Street Journal and (I'm pretty sure) the Washington Post websites--there was a web ad saying "McCain Won the Debate."
No kidding. Just another "Ooops!" moment for the McCain campaign.

Both started a bit nervous but McCain is beginning to speak in a more measured tone. The Moon is on McCain Sun which could make him appear more together than Obama, but Mars is in a trine to Obama's Uranus and a square to his Saturn. Mars is also squaring the US Mercury (the US Mercury squares Obama's Saturn which could account for a lack of trust by the American people)and a trine from Pluto to his North Node.
Transiting Uranus is exactly on McCain's Natal Saturn and his natal Asteroid Urania (of sudden crack pot ideas) is exactly opposite.
Right now at this little bit into the debate, McCain is sounding like he has more ideas. Obama just said "John McCain is right" bad remark. The moderator said "if I hear you correctly neither of you are saying much of anything in relation to change."

From TPM Cafe:
http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/
It's 30 minutes into the debate and I haven't seen McCain look at Obama once. Obama addresses McCain. While McCain speaks, he watches him. He acknowledges his opponent's existence. His manner reflects his nature--he doesn't talk about reciprocity, he exhibits it. McCain refuses to reciprocate. To him, his opponent is a nonentity. Call it fear, call it contempt, call it smugness, call it anxiety--I'm not sure what to call it. But for sure it's downright peculiar.

Next debate Oct. 7, in Nashville
third debate Oct. 15, in Hempstead NY
The polls say Obama won handily this first debate. Each side has their "political parents" like us, who are looking for their candidate to do well and keen on where they look bad. The Repugs always think their candidate does great, as Dems parents we pick it apart. I did that myself tonight and wondered why the polls by a large margin said Obama won. But I thought if you watched MSNBC prior to the debate, Nora O'Donnell had a poll up as to the most important issue that people wanted to address, it had 58 percent economy, 17 percent foreign affairs, 11 percent health care, 10 percent environment and 3 percent moral issues or wedge issues. Obama did very well on the economy and hit home the problems and what he said needed to be done and that's what 58 percent wanted to hear. McCain was pretty vague on those issues. I think that's why those "non parents" out there felt Obama had won, he addressed their concerns in their minds.

The Biden-Palin debate is next Thursday, October 2 in St. Louis. Should be interesting. We'll see how much more Henry Kissenger and the like can fill and grill her on national and foreign policy in preparation between now and then, not that it will help much at all. Expect lots of spin in the next few days setting up the low bar of soft expectations for Palin, and of course some pot-shots at Biden. He'd clean her clock with both hands tied his back, and that's what the Republicans will somehow try to play down or diminish in some way.
The good news about tonight? Obama didn't show us anything that we didn't already know about him. McCain validated everything that we already knew about him. The corporate media are essentially spinning this as a tie, though most of the polls taken in the aftermath suggested either a tie or gave the nod to Obama. If this was a debate about foreign policy, McCain's "best" subject, he will be in trouble for the last two.
McCain doesn't look Presidential so much as he comes across a bitter, angry and resentful old man, condescending and mean spirited, and even whiny. He kept telling stories and pointing back to things that happened thirty and fifty years ago, and harping on the same, tired old Republican mantras (i.e. drill! drill! drill!) and lip service to the Bush war in Iraq. Obama was cool and level-headed the whole time, if not perhaps a bit too friendly towards McCain, all qualities that the US may have forgotten how to appreciate after eight years of Bush's emotionally-driven gut-thinking and childlike, chest-thumping "ME first" behavior. Obama effectively laid out his plans and remained on point and consistent with what he's been saying all along (i.e. tax cuts for the middle class, setting a hard time table for withdrawal from Iraq, line-item program cuts in the budget to support more critical initiatives like infrastructure renewal, education, etc).
I get the feeling Obama understands where the country is headed and believes he can do what is necessary, with the public united behind him, to correct our course and rebuild. He remains undaunted, even in the face of the ugly and far-reaching financial crisis that continues to unfold. McCain, on the other hand, I think believes he can keep dusting off those old Republican favorite narratives uttered by Reagan, as if speaking of them now would do the trick, when they never worked in the first place. This is and has been a no brainer to me, and I'm sure to all of you here since the campaign was narrowed down to these two candidates. I guess we'll soon see what the rest of the the US thinks, and whether or not the banksters and their ilk have the final say.

I heard of his(Newman's)passing as I was unwinding from a wild week after the debate. I loved him-he carried those archtypes so beautifully and was a perfect model for what to do with an embarrassement of riches-the perfect antidote to the McCains and the Bushes and the Bin Ladens(spg) of the world. I knew he was going and was touched by reports of his 'last race' a week or so ago.
McCain was so mean and ugly that I started wondering if he isn't just plain old racist and can't believe that a brown skinned man with an African name should not be president.
Heard another Republican, a woman lawmaker, trying to lay the blame on the Democrats.
Barbara Boxer has been the brightest star this past week doing the talking that Pelosi should have done or maybe I don't understand what Pelosi's role is in all of this.
I still don't think that we should do more than loan money to get the credit flowing again. I am hoping that a Democratic president and a Democratic congress can begin the investigations we need into the Wall St mess and into the the theft of billions in Iraq and the attempt to ignite fires all over the world.

You are dead on, joanna. Although this obviously is not true of everyone with Pluto in Leo, and I don't like to make generalities, the better part of the Pluto in Leo generation, in the US at least seems to have an overwhelming sense of entitlement, a ME FIRST attitude and childlike, immature behavior moreso than not, definitely the negative side of Leo (which also includes many who currently work in the media). Being a fixed sign, they are stubborn and very reluctant to change, even in the face of the obvious. Leo never likes to be told that the fun and games are over.
I think Bush, a Leo Rising with natal Pluto in his First House, and even Bill Clinton of late (Leo Sun), have been very much representative of the negative side of Leo. Bush we know is just plain arrogant. Clinton, for his part can't seem to accept that he will be out of the limelight he was so sure he'd be back in had Hillary received the nomination for President and won the election.
But imagine a whole generation like this, reacting as its' time in the sun seems to be coming to an end. While receiving the trine from Pluto in Sagittarius, this is the generation that did everything in excess, from bigger cars, SUVs, even Monster road-hog HUMMERS, to McMansion castles sprawling all over the outer reaches of suburbia, with indoor game rooms, jacuzzis and swimming pools to boot. Now as the trine wanes, and Pluto prepares to move into a practical earth sign, we see the profligate growth of these things slowing down and preparing to go into full reverse. The generation that apparently had everything won't want to give any of it up without a fight. Although to be fair, the more progressive Pluto In Leos have already begun moving back into the cities and have sought out alternative living arrangements that make use of renewable energy, living off the earth, etc.
Although McCain is late Pluto in Cancer, he seems to resonate with more of the Pluto in Leos than Obama does, despite his Sun in Leo, at least from my perspective. Maybe because Obama, of the Pluto in Virgo generation comes across as much more practical, forward-looking and level-headed, traits that resonate with the up and coming Pluto in Virgo, Libra and even the Scorpio generations, while McCain keeps talking about yesteryear, which resonates more with those who look to the past and are fearful of the future. The shift to the future is coming regardless. The only question is whether we put forth forward moving leaders now, or later. But it will happen regardless.

I agree Neo with your assessment of Pluto through the signs, but every energy has a positive and negative, a yin and yang so to speak and we cannot have one without the other so everyone is challenged to balance it all out. The Pluto in Cancer generation covers "the greatest generation" and they worked hard to construct a "home" (this country) into something to be proud of and to value. The Pluto in Leo generation also brought in some brightness into what had become a drab world through all the wars, and some joy and laughter. Sure they wanted to be noticed but Leo's also notice others in the process. This is part of the reason we as a people let greed get out of control. We didn't mind other people getting rich, it's just when they didn't want anyone but themselves to be part of the prosperity. Bill Clinton made a lot of errors and I have been furious with him but he did try to free up things so everyone could prosper a bit and a lot of people did. I was working with the homeless during that time and things even got better for the down and out. More services available, more compassion and understanding, things are never good for the homeless but during the Clinton years they got better.
Pluto in Virgo generation will clean up the environment and they won't care what it costs the rest of us, they will begin holding onto resources of all types when they are in a trine to Pluto in Capricorn. I also wonder if there will be more bureaucracy and we will have to always make sure the i's are dotted and t's crossed. Very organized and nit picky these Virgo's. Earth people are very efficient and expect the rest of the folks in their sphere to do the same.

The astrology of Henry Paulson
Financial astrologer Ray Merriman said last week in our workshop that Aries Henry Paulson & Sagittarian Ben Bernanke did a fine job during the big expansion of the Pluto in Sagittarius era, but that they don't have a clue how to deal with the contraction of Pluto in Capricorn. This is an interesting point, but the chart of Henry Paulson is even more interesting in light of the current financial debacle. ... http://blog.beliefnet.com/astrologicalmusings/

... True Uranian change involves an explosive clash between the status quo & the unstoppable force of new ideas whose time has come. Uranus is the planet of revolutions, whether fought with the sword, or with sex, drugs & rock & roll. The last time Uranus/Saturn had a stand-off like this was in the mid-60s, giving rise to the coinage counter (Uranus)-culture (Saturn).
Uranian change cannot be orchestrated by the powers-that-be. It is by definition an affront to the powers-that-be. This is not some random theory cooked up by astrologers or anarchists. It is one of the most demonstrable truisms of social history that significant social change arises through grassroots popular agitations—starting, in the case of the USA, with those of the unapologetically radical Founding Fathers themselves. Yet every 4 years Americans manage to forget the fact that their cherished social benefits came about not because of, but in spite of, the in-house machinations of the two ruling parties (Saturn).
As every schoolchild knows, the end of slavery came about because of extraordinary people like the wild-eyed John Brown and the literally-and-figuratively underground crusader Sojourner Truth. [?] They and other heroes of the abolitionist mvmt predated & compelled Lincoln’s great emancipation proclamation. These individuals were not products of the status quo (Saturn); they were messengers of revolution (Uranus). Similarly, the labor agitators of the 1920s & 30s, thanks to whom the 8-hr workday is now taken for granted, risked their lives defying the political machines of their day. They too forced the hands of the agents of Saturn & demanded that Uranian ideals be written into law. ... http://www.daykeeperjournal.com/murray.shtml

It's time for another Boston Tea Party taxpayers' revolt. If you live outside the Eastern Time Zone, don't miss 60 mins. on CBS. Hank Paulson was interviewed, pretending to be shocked by what his buddies were doing on WS, and trying hard to feign sympathy for Ma & Pa taxpayer. It turns out that two e-mails from Wall St. execs were uncovered; one of them was from a Wall St. analyst to one of his buddies, sent 2 years ago, saying in essence, that he hopes he would be retired with his millions before the house of cards on Wall St. collapsed, which is proof that they all knew a long time ago, about the reckless practices that were taking place, but were too busy lining their pockets, so they remained silent. WS was chuckling when they found out that though they didn't get the private sector to bail them out, they found a sucker(s) in the public sector, viz. the taxpayers, to save their necks once again. I think it's time for the WS crooks to have the rug pulled out from under them. The only problem is that there will be even more suffering for the middle and working class, but it might be worth it in the long run.

Sorry to see Paul Newman go. I wish I really knew where everybody disappeared (if Charles Lindbergh's experiences were true, we just exist in another dimension, and I must tell that story later). Anyway, I liked Paul Newman, both on and off the silver screen.
From now on, my new name for Mc Cain is Old Sourpuss. I really felt like smacking him when he kept referring to Obama as Miss Congeniality, alluding to his popularity in the Senate. I couldn't help feeling that Old Sourpuss was more than a little jealous. Also, when he kept repeating in his usual condescending manner that Obama "just did not understand", as if to make himself look more knowledgeable by demeaning Obama, when truth is that the records show that Obama is the one who really gets it, while Old Sourpuss (like the VP he picked), is clueless.
Anyway, bottom line is, Obama is definitely Presidential material, and Mc Cain isn't. Besides, I would much rather have a President with a spring in his step, than one who is limping along (aged & infirm). I don't want to appear unkind, and I do appreciate Old Sourpuss's war time POW experiences, but that alone does not a president make. Obama's main drawback (on the political front, but not in human terms), is that he is incapable of being nasty like Old Sourpuss, and he also considers pettiness a waste of energy.

Neo, no sooner had I written about the positives of Pluto in Cancer, Leo and Virgo than I turned on CNN last night and saw a whole crew of "Pluto in Leo" group striding down the corridor of Congress, flanked by a bevy of Police, escorting them to the media Podium. I thought "who are you kidding, you people take yourself way too seriously." Dodd, Schumer, Blount, Reid. Paulson were all there to tell America that they had worked all weekend and day and night to "save" America from this crisis. I almost fell off the couch laughing, they forgot to mention that they were saving their own a.. Paulson was there trying hard not to rub his hands together in glee at the prospect of the amount of money being placed in his hands. Absolutely they were a group of Pluto in Leo on steroids. Incredible!!! One thing that wasn't mentioned was whether Paulson left when a new administration came in or would they and America be saddled with him for another bundle of years.
Joanna, you are absolutely correct, things don't change without a true Uranian nature and this election day is going to provide that Uranian "boost" The Civil War intensified on a Saturn/Uranus square with mutable signs in play, so did the civil rights movement began on mutable aspects with Saturn and Uranus, the Women's Right to Vote again mutable Saturn and Uranus (actually Virgo and Pisces) Mutables are about changing the playing fields, changing the rules of the game and Mutable has played that role always. These are "universal" energies we are working with here, there is unrest in India, Germany, France, China, Tibet, Middle East, the pins of history are about to roll once again for the world.
I didn't see 60 Minutes Crystal, but I have seen Hank Paulson's act a few times in the last year and I know exactly what behavior he exhibited and the article (link) Joanna posted about Paulson couldn't be more correct. The coming Saturn and Uranus opposition will fall in Virgo/Pisces, with Uranus on their North Node and Saturn on the South Node. Something new is coming to town. Saturn will fall on Wall Street's Mars and they will be chafing at the bit over the next year.

Ok, this is off topic, and it is the witching hour, way past my bed time, but no better time to tell this tale that I alluded to in an earlier post.
I had always been fascinated by Charles Lindbergh's solo flight across the Atlantic (NY to France), and I wanted to know more about his origins, and what made him undertake such a perilous journey. A few years ago my interest piqued, and I decided to splurge, and buy two of his books. The first one was called Charles A. Lindbergh Autobiography of Values, and the other was The Spirit of St. Louis. The latter is the one I'm referring to. Charles Linbergh had the stoic outlook of his ancestors, but he had a remarkable life, lived mostly as a loner, yet he seemed destined to make this trans Atlantic flight against all odds. You would think that a story about flying a plane solo across the Atlantic would be boring, but his story was riveting, and I could hardly put the book down. I don't know if any of you read this book, and maybe it didn't leave the same impression with you, but there was one part that was unforgettable - it made my hair stand on end. I don't have the book anymore, so I probably won't relate it the way it was written. I sent it to my nephew hoping to inspire him to do something worthwhile with his life, but alas, I don't think he even opened the book. The young are not interested in things of this nature.
Anyhou, Lindbergh said he had gone without sleep for about 2 days, and had not had much to eat, so half way across the Atlantic, sleep, or some kind of unconsciousness overtook him, and he was drifting in and out of it, fighting to stay awake, and he finally gave in to it. Then he heard voices in his cockpit, and he could see people standing around him - some he recognized as his ancestors who had already given up the ghost, others he did not know. I think he described it as a curtain being drawn back to reveal a different dimension. He gave a detailed description of what he saw and heard, but I've forgotten his exact words. When he awoke several hours later and checked his watch, by all accounts he should have veered way off course, but was astounded to find that he was exactly where he was supposed to be. He believed that the ghosts or spirits that he had seen and heard, had flown his plane while he was asleep.
Lindbergh was a conytroversial figure, especially later in life. He also had 3 separate families in Europe while he was still married to his wife, Anne Morrow Lindbergh with their own family in America, and it wasn't discovered until after both he and his wife had died. I don't know if his strange life had anything to do with his baby son being kidnapped, and killed, but he certainly marched to a different drumbeat, and had a very fascinating life.

In 2006, Palin was running to be the governor of Alaska, while Biden was serving his 34th year as a United States senator. While Palin was offering up as few specifics as possible, Biden was talking specifically about his five-point plan he authored with Leslie H. Gelb, president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, about how a post-war Iraq should look.
On both domestic and foreign policy, the difference in experience is like the difference between shooting a bullet and throwing a bullet. Unfortunately for Biden, if history is any measuring stick, experience or a grasp of the issues won't matter when it comes to debating Palin.

qop, so glad to see your post this morning!
Keep thinking about the proverbial storm before the dawn breaks clear. During this -- an intentionally created fear orgy -- we must continue to work the light. I'm referring to this in a practical way, and in recognition of advanced physics (of which i know little, but sense).
When you smile at a stranger, and the stranger, in surprise, returns your smile, an energy is created that expands consciousness. You feel better, the "other" feels better and both of you carry with you the imprint of that feeling through much of the day.
The same principle works with anger and fear. It sticks to you, follows you and compromises your ability to think clearly.
Kudos for mentioning this on several occasions, Sally. It has never been more important than now. The battle is on.

I remember that interview with Anne Lindburg and she wasn't the only one who postulated that theory. He absolutely was a strange person and wrote several articles on eugenics (only the fitest you know) he had a "god complex" and he and his wife were estranged for years, don't know if they divorced.
No rain huh? well maybe another day qop. You are right Karen, fear begets fear and the coming days are going to make it difficult not to fear, but we really need to stay in the light knowing we will be alright. Just remember "nothing is as it seems." Not this economic meltdown, not this election, not the capitalist system, wall street, etc. none of it is real.

The ultimate addict: restless, irritable & discontent with a Mad Monkey Mind is the group of pink males as a whole. Nothing, but absolutely nothing, is okay or beautiful or good in and of itself--particularly the Laws of Mother Nature. All everythings must be rearranged, improved, or mutated by His Majesty... & he's never satisfied with that either (eugenics). A few certainly find their way out of that morass, but most don't. However, Mother Nature brot them into being, too, like She did the extinct tyrannosaurus rex. Perhaps there's a lesson to be learned there, too.
I remember, for instance, at a farmer's market a fellow who was loudly expounding to everyone standing around that nobody needed sleep, that one shouldn't give into sleep, it was a waste of time. He was so hyper & weird with, I shld imagine, the lack of sleep &/or other things... perhaps he'd injested some... um, sleep inhibitors to prove his point. Whaddagoofball. But there you go... a local georgie porgie.

I got this e-mail and I want to share it even tho it is a lot of words. Pass it on.....
My Holiday with McCain
It was just before John McCain's last run at the presidential nomination in 2000 that my husband and I vacationed in Turtle Island in Fiji with John McCain, Cindy, and their children, including Bridget (their adopted Bangladeshi child).
It was not our intention, but it was our misfortune to be in close quarters with John McCain for almost a week since Turtle Island has a small number of bungalows and their focus on communal meals force all vacationers who are there at the same time to get to know each other intimately.
He arrived at our first group meal and started reading quotes from a pile of William Faulkner books with a forest of Post-Its sticking out of them. As an English Literature major myself, my first thought was 'if he likes this so much, why hasn't he memorized any of this yet?' I soon realized that McCain actually thought we had come on vacation to be a volunteer audience for his 'readings' which then became a regular part of each meal. Out of politeness, none of the vacationers initially protested at this intrusion into their blissful holiday, but people's buttons definitely got pushed as the readings continued day after day.
Unfortunately this was not his only contribution to our mealtime entertainment. He waxed on during one meal about how Indo-Chine women had the best figures and that our American corn-fed women just couldn't meet up to this standard. He also made it a point that all of us should stop Cindy from having dessert as her weight was too high and made a few comments to Amy, the 25 year old wife of the honeymooning couple from Nebraska that she should eat less as she needed to lose weight.
McCain's appreciation of the beauty of Asian women was so great that David the American economist had to move his Thai wife to the other side of the table from McCain as McCain kept aggressively flirting with and touching her.
Needless to say I was irritated at his large ego, and his rude behavior towards his wife and other women, but decided he must have some redeeming qualities as he had adopted a handicapped child from Bangladesh . I asked him about this one day and his response was shocking 'Oh, that was Cindy's idea I didn't have anything to do with it. She just went and adopted this thing without even asking me. You can't imagine how people stare when I wheel this ugly, black thing around in a shopping cart in Arizona . No, it wasn't my idea at all.'
I actively avoided McCain after that, but unfortunately one day he engaged me in a political discussion which soon got us on the topic of the active US bombing of Iraq at that time. I was shocked when he said 'if I was in charge, I would nuke Iraq to teach them a lesson'. Given McCain's personal experience with the horrors of war I had expected a more balanced point of view. I commented on the tragic consequences of the nuclear attacks on Japan during WWII but no, he was not to be dissuaded. He went on to say that if it was up to him he would have dropped many more nuclear bombs on Japan . I rapidly extricated myself from this conversation as I could tell that his experience being tortured as a POW didn't seem to have mellowed out his perspective but rather had made him more aggressive, and vengeful towards the world.
My final encounter with McCain was on the morning that he was leaving Turtle Island . Amy and I were happily eating pancakes when McCain arrived and told Amy that she shouldn't be having pancakes because she needed to lose weight. Amy burst into tears at this abusive comment. I felt fiercely protective of Amy and immediately turned to McCain and told him to leave her alone. He became very angry and abusive towards me, and said 'don't you know who I am' and I looked him in the face and said 'yes, you are the biggest asshole I have ever met' and headed back to my cabin. I am happy to say that later that day when I arrived at lunch I was given a standing ovation by all the guests for having stood up to McCain's bullying.
Although I have shared my McCain story informally with friends, this is the first time I am making this public. I almost did so in
2000, when McCain first announced his bid for the Republican nomination but it soon became apparent that George Bush was the shoo-in candidate and so I did not act then. However, now that there is a very real possibility that McCain could be elected as our next president, I feel it is my duty as an American citizen to share this story. I can't imagine a more scary outcome for America than that this abusive, aggressive man should lead our nation. I have observed him in intimate surroundings as he really is, not how the media portrays him to be. If his attitudes toward women, and his treatment of his own family are even a small indicator of his real personality, then I shudder to think what will happen to America were he to be elected as our President.

QOP, Sreedahr's timeline is not credible. How could she have had a conversation in 2000 with McCain about "active" bombings of Iraq when conflict with that country didn't begin until 2003? It would have been an effective first person account had the writer bothered to get the factual information correct.
I agree that McCain is dangerous and pompous, but her story needs to corrected in order to make it credible.
BTW, I am an Obama supporter and would have loved to be able to pass that narrative along to via email to others, but this kind of story gets debunked pretty quickly.

qop, thanks for posting the email about McCain on Turtle Island (in Fiji, as I found out.)
I've been checking other blogs and the writer apparently is Anasuya Dubey, who is said to be a clinical psychologist in California. It is also said that her father was an Indian Counsel General to the United States.
Daily Kos has now posted the email, with an explanation of where he got it.
Other blogs have posted it, but say it is a fake, because (they say) there is no psychologist named Anasuya Dubey in California.
But, I found an interview with Anasuya Dubey done when she was living in San Francisco and was a graduate psych student doing her internship and writing her dissertation. The interview is published in the March 2005 issue of Gradpsych, last third of the article. Here is the link to that

I haven't been able to track down the counsel general angle.

I knew when Boosh started talking about launching programs to benefit Aids victims in Africa, that it wasn't because he's a good Samaritan. This article might help explain his ulterior motives. Has anybody seen him on TV lately? He looks like little Bo-Peep (has lost his sheep)....

Kucinich is right, and there are better plans that don't include hidden language that means "screw the country" Maybe they will come up with something better. I don't think there is any doubt something needs to be done, the world's financial markets are more than teetering they are falling and that will be bad for all of us, especially the already starving around the world. That said, they need to come up with a better plan because I think there are a lot of people out there, including me, that feel "if you and your greed are going to take us down, you are going with us." Pretend it's the "Titanic" Maybe we could write a new song "Titans on the Titanic." Remember women and children first.

karen,
Me too! The very first time I think something very healthy is happening and that group of repug which is resisting is quite helpful. I disagree with some of what they want, but at least they are holding up the works and suggesting a new plan. And from that will come a new dem plan and so on and so forth.
In the meantime chaos. Still, I trust neither party to really get their act together...for the country.
O well...hope nobody is starving...
Now I know what transiting Saturn coming up to McCain's natal Venus in his 12th house. And expect more shooting himself in the foot real soon. Hate to admit how much pleasure I am feeling at his discomfort.
Level with the American people. Level with them. They'll get it. But what does "dire" mean?
Paulson is an A-hole. Bush is a black hole...Nancy Pelosi seems to have flunked tactful school. And Boehner (sp?) can't find enough fingers on his hands to point to whomever to blame. Ah Chaos! Isn't there an asteroid named Chaos? I should track it in the US chart and various party's charts.

I thought this was an interesting assessment of what has happened on one level (there are several levels to this) but this draws of picture of what was going on in the house. We have a leg up on this issue and we have 72 hours to make sure something comes back to the people. My hope is we don't stop pushing on this, there wasn't really anything in that package for "main street" it was surprise for Wall Street. I don't think anyone has really gotten it that people are angry, that their anger has been building up and building up with each betrayal and this was something that broke over us and them. What they don't get and maybe we don't either, but it's not "us and them" we are all "us" and that's a fact we've forgotten and so have they, the fracture is going to have to heal and to do that we all have to start working together, it's going to take time and we have the opportunity to start showing them how that's done.

Unfortunately transiting Saturn will not get to McCain's Venus until after the election, but it is hitting his Neptune and Jupiter square rightnow. In fact it won't get there until next August, but by next spring transiting Uranus will be opposing it after it makes a last contact with Saturn.
I would however, if I were McCain, get off that cowboy horse he's been trying to ride and really try to connect with the people.

All of you have lightened my heart. When I awakened this morning I 'saw' how we are connected thanks to something I read from Matthew. I lay in bed 'memorizing' what I had seen so clearly in my half conscious state. I know that my new awareness is meant for all of us and we are all heading there. I was so relieved to 'understand' the resistance of those who haven't 'seen' our wholeness.
Sally- I am particuarly uplifted by your practical, down-to-earth explanations of what is going on with congress. Reminds of my own mother's wisdom and how she imparted that wisdom to me. Very grounding in these chaotic times.

This is not supposed to be funny, but i find myself laughing outloud at the comedic drama being played on stage. Our financial system is a contrived house built upon fractional values and "confidence." Therefore, we must create "confidence" by infusing the system with more air. It's like blowing up a balloon with weak walls. One more puff and POW!
My question is a simple one. Since tangibles like jobs and such are unecessary, and since millions more will lose their homes and be unable to borrow "confidence," what kind of value will the banks really hold?

Ya, Sister! Still can't get through to one of my reps, phone lines busy, website busy. The people are buzzin' with anger. If this proposal goes through, which i suspect it will, the worst is yet to come.
This is the letter i've been sending. There was another one before it, much the same theme:
Maintaining and building upon our leadership role in the world requires a different approach to a fiscally responsible financial recovery plan.
We cannot recover "confidence" in our financial system without creating a sustainable future. Putting people first and back to work demands we consider that a portion of the financial recovery be spent on tangible projects. High-priority bridges in desperate need of repair could be the initial focus. This could be followed by a TVA-inspired clean energy building plan that focuses on solar, wind, geothermal energies, et al.
Why do we keep returning to a debt-based economy -- with disastrous consequences -- that concentrates wealth into the hands of the few? Why is the band-aid approach to loosening regulations considered part of the solution when, in fact, it benefits the few? Wealth is not a guarantee of immunity from this market's free fall.
Why is helping homeowners (bamboozled by a loose regulatory system) not included in a financial recovery plan? Those same homeowners pay local and state taxes critical to the health of both their communities and their states.
Why are we so willing to give a non-governmental body unheard of oversight over taxpayer monies? Or appoint an oversight committee composed of those who have blatantly practiced the above disastrous economic principles?
Let us put people -- our country -- first, and Wall Street second.

Bailout Plan passed Senate with a large margin. It's supposed to be a better version. I believe when Barack wins, we will create real reform but it will take some time. There does seem to be real bipartisanship between some of the legislators who back the bill for their own reasons (and for those who oppose it). Very interesting to finally see an issue that broke party lines. There are astrologers and psychics on line who have said that when we finally get to the election we'll have in essence gone through the mill, so much that is unpredictable has turned up. Let's hope no other issues surface. Is that too much to ask, Nancy, Morgana, et al.?

AH HA!
So there is an asteroid Chaos! At the time of the US birth, it was postioned at 23 Virgo 50' and 56", just past the US Neptune. And for the past 8 years, transiting Pluto was squaring it back and forth and transiting Uranus now coming up to oppose it; not there yet, but not so far off from now. And where is transiting now? She sits at 11 II 10'.
The Asteroid Washingtonia is now transiting, sitting, on our Natal North Node at 6 Leo 21'. And transiting asteroid America is sitting right next to our natal Saturn at 15 Libra 22. You can't make this stuff up.
Henry Reid now waxing "eloquent."
I don't think Pluto is going to give us a break for any length of time unless we do this right. A short puff of energy and then another bang, and yes, the 8th house which governs insurance in mundane astrology, other people's resources suggests to me that other country's to whom we are in debt will begin to stop feeding our ridiculous habit of greed -not just yet, but when Pluto starts to impact our natal Venus and Jupiter. Do we have a chance to get this right? Chris Dodd, whom I like, says so.
Yes, McCain's 12th house Neptune is going to be impacted by Saturn before the Venus, but this could be that the stucture of his unconscous mind goes haywire. Or that which he has built dissolves, or he once again becomes the victim/martyr/"hero" he seems to be programed to be. Jupiter, by transit, will be trining this configuration, but I don't think Jupiter always bodes well for arrogant men. Look what it did to Georgie. Excess becomes easy.

Looks like other countries who have been feeding our greed, have already stepped back!
I think this is the motivation that has panicked COngress, and caused them to act in a bipartisan way in spite of the enslaught of calls that tied up the switchboards with calls fro the revolutionary constituants.

How Peking forced its biggest debtor, the USA, to negotiate the financial crisis
For weeks, the activity of Chinese central bankers in the financial crisis was barely perceptible. They didn’t emerge from cover until last Friday, when it became known that the government-owned China Investment Corporation (CIC) was negotiating with Morgan Stanley for a further takeover of their shares.
China as a bankruptcy vulture? That would be underestimating the awakening giant. The Chinese Central Bank was an important player in the U.S. financial crisis right from the beginning. They were subtle, to be sure, but as hard as nails. Top executives in the Chinese financial system won’t speak openly about it, but secretly they give hints where the evidence can be found. And when one has found it, the evidence reveals more pieces of the puzzle.

Well, I looked at Bush's natal chart (from Astrodatabank), and if the time is correct, his 10th house isn't tenanted, yet he was a 2 term pres, so that's a relief as far as Mc Cain's 10th house goes. So what is the compelling evidence for someone becoming President of the US? I guess there has to be certain connections to the US chart.
