No Golden Parachutes!

The Mother of all Mondays reads the Wall Street Journal.

The morning newspaper headlines will blare out the financial news, Lehman Brothers has collasped, Bank of America acquires Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Washington Mutual (WAMU) are down for the count. The US financial meltdown continues unabated leaving the tax payers holding the tab while fat cats finish cleaning our collective pockets. No Golden Parachutes, no way, no how.

The full moon at 22 Pisces will make its final aspect with Pluto before going void of course. In the darkest hours of the American night, as clouds drifted across the face of the moon, it conjuncted Uranus . Uranus touched by lunacy set off the inconjunct with cojoined Mercury and Venus, inflamed by Mars which is now making crispy critters of our resources.

The full mon stands in the 7th House in Pisces opposing the Sun in Virgo in the 1st House. The People point their fingers at the Sun, the failed leader and his heir apparent. Neptune the oily, delusional planet inconjuncts the Sun befogging the leader's mind, Mad Hatter schemes are hatched and put into motion. The Sun is quickly pulling away from Saturn, the restrictions exacerbated by a trine from Jupiter has Saturn playing out the rope that is tied irrevocably the the Bush policies and the GOP.

Pluto at 28 Sagittarius is moving direct now squares both Sun and Moon bringing destruction to the 4th House of the People their home and cold hearths. America's image, the Sun in the 1st House falls for the world to see.

Mars is in the 2nd House at 17 Libra, Mercury and Venus at 19 Libra. The silver tongue devil Mercury, aka Loki and Venus the desireous greedy vixen find themselves just moving out of a trine with Chiron, ouch, ouch, ouch. They are moving toward a trine with Neptune facilitating the obfuscation of the true state of our financial house.

The full moon in Pisces manifests Christ Spirit. People helping people as once again FEMA and the GOP Bush Administration have failed as Galveston drowns and Houston is starving. We are all responsible for each other.

Deep breath hang on for the ride. No Golden Parachutes when the rest of us are in free fall.

OUCH!

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Whoa, Morgana! This is a clear-eyed look at what could have been avoided had we the leadership to chart a different course. A kindergartner knows that you don't lend people money who can't pay it back. Then, to those who can, you lend with fair rates simply because it's in your best "interest" to do so.

Then, AIG. . .hmmmmmmmmm, we they providers of that punishing mortgage insurance that banks make you pay to guarantee their own loans? Well now, where did that money go? Is that why AIG is failing? They were just raking it in with no true acturial accounting?

Oh yes, Pluto is direct and when it hits Capricorn, we're going to see smackdown regulation which should have/could have happened years ago.

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I got up in the cool, dark morning and made coffee and listened to Amy Goodman interview Steve Cole about his new book on the Bin Laden family. At 7 I went to get up family for work and school and turned on the TV and listened to the news which even if I expected it was a real shock. I ran aroubnd the corner to my computer to tell you all and bham!! Morgana you already had a piece up. Thank you so much. I love the tartness of your voice-perfect for talking about this ship wreck that we all knew was coming.
Yes Karen slap down indeed but will we ever realize any of the value of our efforts.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Federal Reserve is going to be doing a lot of propping up today. Did anyone notice how oil prices are dropping like a rock today? Somebody or bodies have been manipulating the price of oil.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Oh cool...........I have been getting regular insistant robot calls from a crediter. I hang up on them.
I just realized, they're from AIG, no wonder they're being insistant! They need my ha, ha.money?
I switched from AIG to Progressive auto insurance.Thank Goddess! ANd AIG is dunning me for the other 5 months of coverage I terminated. I did terminate, mainly, because THEIR RULES, favored them not ME! If I am gong to be a customer I want customer service, not servitude to a corporation!

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Biden Good one! "A priviledged few in Wash. who have a seat at the table;...and the rest of us are on the menue!"

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

CNN screwing with the sound track on the Biden event......Palin event came thru loud & clear!

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I love your articles Morgana, the imagery is fantastic. You are so right "we are all responsible for each other." This is the prelude to the total coup of corporatism to come when Pluto opposes the US Venus next year. The US is a wholly owned subsidary, much like communism when the wall was up. Who was it that said "we will destroy you from within?" Stalin?
And so we have been destroyed from within.

Wonder how this will play politically with the Moon in a square to T-Pluto and T-Pluto in a square to the GOP Mars.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Well.M/P stole "change" today they have stolen "ENOUGH" as it applies to wallstreet!
Jmcinane.is a doddering rambling, senile old fart!
Horrible!

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Bush just said all was well with the economy. If he is saying that one can be sure that the economy is way down the hole and he's waiting for a new administration to take the fall

clymela [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I was just visiting Firedoglake: just as I have said more than once-these suckers are not going anywhere and all of this has been planned. AIG has no accounting records. Really??? FEMA acting as they did with New Orleans/Mississippi. FAA is now owned by Martin Merrieta-yep signed and delivered and we suckers pay for their debts.
Bad day here. Morgana, we are each others keepers and may we awaken to this before the suffering gets worse. Myself I am wery today as the things I believed intuitively come to form.

Morgana [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Boy howdy bad day is an understatement. DOW down 504...unbelievable.

Laurie [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I work for one of the top business insurance brokers in the country and we are on pins and needles today to see what happens with AIG. They are rated A+ by A.M. Best's, considered the best rating firm, so I bet some heads roll at Best's!

A quarter of our big clients are insured through American International Group. I hope they can recover, and quickly, or it could be a lot of jobs gone, including mine.

Morgana [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Geeze what a mess. I bank with WAMU who was just down graded to junk today. Cashing out tomorrow. Cripes.

Old Mayfly [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Great article, Morgana, like a beautiful oil painting of a catastrophe.

Most everybody here has probably seen the movie "It's a Wonderful Life." Remember how Bailey's Savings & Loan was so worried about the audit by the US government auditor? Their deposit money had been lost and then hidden by the richest. meanest man in town, Mr. Potter.

Back then, when banks and savings & loans were first insured by the federal government, they had to show the government the books at least every year, and prove that they were making prudent loans--not gambling with their depositors' money.

Then, (during the Reagan administration, I believe, though it may have been earlier) the GOP got a great idea. "Government regulation is bad. Red tape! It is holding everything up!"

Most everyone who had ever stood in line too long at the DMV agreed.

So the Repubs set up a new policy for their beloved CEOs and big donors. "Go ahead and gamble," they said. If you win, you keep the profits. If you lose, the government will ensure your losses."

And it has more or less been that way ever since. "Privatization of profits/public liability for losses. A Neptunian policy indeed.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Old Mayfly.I liked the way PAul Krugman expressed it...stonger,
Privatization of profits, SOCIALIZATION of loss.
Socialism is a very scary buzz word!

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Good thing USians aren't the only ones plagued with C&Cs (quarter-baked immature sleezy pinkie-cheeked Crooks n' Criminals). This, for example, an extension of the pink crowd originally from the UK (just like the US & S Africa for instance) located in Australia (wonder what the Aborigines original name for their land mass is?)

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2008/sep2008/left-s11.shtml

Old Mayfly [TypeKey Profile Page]:

qop, good! I was trying to think of how I had heard it expressed, but couldn't remember, so just got the idea across. Think I will get some buttons made:

GOP: privatization of profits/socialization of loss.

Just now watching Countdown and talk of McCain campaign lies. I never worry if a candidate lies about the economy, because the lie carries no weight at all with the people who have lost their jobs, houses, etc.

It is a case of, "are you going to believe me? or your lying eyes?"

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/16/opinion/16brooks.html?th&emc=th
Will wonders never cease? David Brooks is talking common sense!
"Democracy is not average people selecting average leaders. It is average people with the wisdom to select the best prepared."

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Great comments! Taking several deep breaths, Morgana. And almost happy that we can say that trickle-down economics has now become trickle-up economics. There's one thing, however, that wipes that happiness right off my face. The word? Consolidation. Now, just who's going to end up with all the cards? Leaves me feeling quite queasy, if you want to know the truth.

Apparently several gas stations in the Chattanooga area are out of gas. What's going on in your neck of the woods, AWers?

Old Mayfly [TypeKey Profile Page]:

karen, I'm in Atlanta.

This is a town where the supermarket shelves are stripped of supplies whenever there is the slightest prediction of seriously bad weather.

Of course, most everybody is topping off their gas tanks everyday, Gas is up to $5+ in some places and many service stations have only a few pumps working.

One of the jokes here is that if there is an ice storm. the first call is to work--explaining that your driveway is iced up and you can't get in. The second call is to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, complaining that your morning newspaper hasn't been delivered.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

The Government will be propping up another financial institution to the tune of $85 billion. I pity the next President who takes office. He will inherit a bankrupted Treasury, so the only solution will be to raise taxes. If it's Mc Cain, or another Repig, you can be sure that the middle and working classes will pay the price. If it's Obama, the wealthy will have to pay the price. It seems as though the Repigs organized an 8 year plan to rape and pillage America. I'm sure they have plans to retire to some safe haven abroad, but in any case, they will not be the ones wondering where their next meal will be coming from.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I just heard Obama say he would change the bankruptcy laws..........that absolves Biden.
( I get a sense that sets him free..)
Also Louise Slaughter explained the drill bill pretty well to Rachael Madow! It has clauses that will push and pay for alternative energy,, make it necessary for individual States to legislater= before drilling off shore.

NOLASharon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Well, Crystal, it's a bridge loan so maybe at least they will be required to begin paying it back immediately. Better than the Bear Sterns bail-out.

Pluto direct and the fall of the markets

Over the past yr, I & other astrologers have warned of the upcoming collapse of what I have called the Relentless Optimism of the Pluto in Sagg period. Back in May, I wrote:

As predicted in this column, stock mkts around the world rallied in April with US stock funds rising nearly 5% in that mo following Pluto's retro turn as it heads back into Sagg. The Sagg optimism that has fueled overspending, overborrowing, overinvesting, & a drastic increase of home sizes/prices sank into despair when Pluto first entered Capricorn in Jan.

As Pluto retrograded back thru Sagg, money writers weren't sure whether to fall on the side of the bulls or the bears but astrologers knew that the end of the expansion was just a matter of time. ... http://blog.beliefnet.com/astrologicalmusings/

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:
karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thanks for the links, joanna. Sally, Morgana, Nancy have also been right on target with the transformations indicated under Pluto's transits. One of the great challenges i see (and it is unfolding now) is how the consolidations of banking institutions (and now the giant AIG) is welded to COG (Continuity of Government) under this transit. The desired goal of the world's shadow governments IS to form a one-world monopoly (also occuring).

In relationship to the above, I've observed with interest the way in which FEMA managed this latest huricane tragedy. The finger pointing about who failed to provide and deliver necessary food and water seemed to me to be a feint. (Isn't MANAGEMENT part of FEMA?) What was being observed? A social experiment regarding responses to tragedy and martial law?

While Pluto's move may at first seem welcome given the exaggerated expansion in Sag, i am concerned about the above. I'm also concerned about the world of art and artists. We've already taken a whammy during this period of crass marketing.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

You got that right Karen! The art world is suffering from cognative dysfunction as well.
Be sure to read the comments.

With global stock markets plummeting, leaving millions worldwide to fret over their jobs and financial futures, news out of a London auction house this week proved there are a choice few who are still financially flush enough to spend outlandishly.
The global financial crisis apparently did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm for British artist's Damien Hirst's latest collection. In a record-breaking two-day event at Sotheby's in London, Hirst convinced buyers to buck the economic times -- to the tune of nearly $200 million.

His show, titled "Beautiful Inside My Head Forever," included an outlandish collection of quirky animals soaked and displayed in formaldehyde -- a natural progression for a man who previously made millions on the sale of a life-size cast of a human skull in platinum and covered in diamonds.

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I'd say that Brit artist is pretty darned CHEEKY, qop, & pretty darned funny.

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I'm awfully sad today after talking with my daughter-in-law to be... she's drunk the Texas kool-aid & is quite drunk having done so. (Sigh) There was nothing I could say to her that would change her mind.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Yes, I think maybe I'm working too hard????????
SO sorry about your DIL TB! Hopefully the Pitbulls stock keeps falling & more, GET IT!

Old Mayfly [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Just remembering a few years ago when I was living in a very mixed community is a small town in Florida. New retirees from up No'th, old time Crackers, descendants of immigrants, etc., all together.

The great thing about that kind of community is you get to meet and know people that otherwise would never cross your path.

I was working assisting people to complete their income taxes. A neighbor--hard-working and proud, who had devoted 30 years to his employment at the railroad, was laid-off weeks before his retirement. No retirement, therefore. And to add insult to injury, he was asked and complied to work a double-shift just before he was notified of his layoff.

This black guy with very little formal education then did his best to make a living doing lawn care, etc. Along the way, he fell into every trap set for people in his situation--title loans, high-interest finance,
"easy credit", etc. The playing field was totally tilted against him.

I wonder how many conceited "free-market" Repugs would have managed to survive under those circumstances.

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I just despise that, Old Mayfly. May the pinkie system receive back what it dished out & much much for Factor X (grace).

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Let me echo what I've heard every financial advisor and stock broker say today "this is just the beginning, in three weeks the "bursting housing bubble" will seem like nothing compared to what is coming. One broker told me today "it's bad, it's really bad people couldn't even comprehend how bad it is, get any money you have in the market out" I even heard a suggestion from a broker in NY that said as high as it is, Gold is the cheapest buy with the best return right now.

This is the twilight of Pluto in Sagittarius and showing us the good times were not going to roll forever. Nov. ushers in some of the worst aspects this world has seen in decades. Don't be scared and don't panic, just prepare.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

By the way, the arch enemies of Rockefeller and Rothchild families joined forces today to back McCain, that would indicate they are scared of what is happening right now. That would say the whole of the economic system world wide is threatened and they don't know what to do. The Feds admit they have lost control of the dollar and cannot get it back. And where is our Prez in a time of crisis, anyone ever remember a president not addressing a nation in crisis to try and calm the storm?

http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-wed_oilsep17,0,4833605.story

Gina [TypeKey Profile Page]:

From watching the last three days, you'd think that the Repugs would want to throw this election, and leave the Democrats holding the bag.

Alas, power doesn't give up so easy.

The King Is Dead

By ROGER COHEN
Published: September 17, 2008

They’re listening to Coldplay down on Wall Street:

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

The leverage party’s over for the masters of the universe. Shed a tear. When you trade pieces of paper for other pieces of paper instead of trading them for real things, one day someone wakes up and realizes the paper’s worth nothing. And Lehman Brothers, after 158 years, has gone poof in the night.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/18/opinion/18cohen.html?th&emc=th

I sensed this from the ivy leagues.......Is it because My Father graduated MBA from Wharton School? Is that like knowing foreign policy because I can see Russia from my porch?

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

The media market garble reflects absolute nonsense. Keeping the lie alive, that the market implosion is because of the mortgage crisis, is designed to give the population a target to point their finger at.

In the meantime, our tax dollars are being used to bailout villains and gamblers. Wouldn't it be far wiser to bailout those who have lost and are losing their homes? Wouldn't it be far more cost effective to invest in the same human system that pays the bills?

OH NO! Why would i suggest using our tax dollars to help tax payers?

OH NO! We must "build confidence" now that sells. Who needs food? Who needs healthcare? Who needs a home? Who needs a job?

OH YES! We will provide the power drug to very same villains who created a system without oversite.

OH YES! We will crash, but the Rothchilds, Rockefellers and all the other shadow-banking entities will tighten their grip.

Okay AWERS, besides my rant, i have a question. On INS News there was a snippet about the Naval buildup in the Med. Apparently, French and German warships have joined the armada. I can't find anything about it on the internet this morning, but i'm not that saavy as a researcher either. Has anyone else heard this? Or read about this recently?

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Found one source for the naval blockade/buildup: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article20785.htm

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Anyone remember the movie "The Sting?" That's what we have here only we have been the "mark." Just like the depression of 1887, and 1930's. Gaming the system only most of the masses don't understand the system. I know young brokers who got caught up in the lies themselves. We did see it coming, just didn't think it would be before the election. I still think Obama will drain the swamp at a slower pace than McCain, but the swamp is being drained and you are right Karen, those top 1 percent will do very well. There isn't anyone to save us, we have to save ourselves. I heard Rupert Murdoch and Donald Trump say "this is really good for big business." However, they are doing this so fast it will take a bit for "big business" to recover, now is the time to write our congressmen and Senators and the media and find out if they are going to support their corporate masters who have swindled them too or the people.

Look for a member services Credit Union, that is the safest place to put your money. Within the month you will see banks fail en masse

Old Mayfly,
If those government handout-hating, conceited "free-market" Repugs ever end up in your former neighbor's situation, they immediately discover that they are striken by some drastically crippling illnesses such as Pilonidal disease, and quickly start drawing social security disability... and thanking no one except their beloved Jesus for it.

out_sider_1 [TypeKey Profile Page]:

The Alaska governor, appearing at a town hall with GOP presidential nominee John McCain, interrupted him, saying: "John, John, can I add something?" McCain, smiling, replied: "Always."

Palin argued that McCain's support for sending thousands more U.S. troops to Iraq put the country on the cusp of victory and was freeing it to focus elsewhere in its battle against terrorists.

"We must win there so that we can win in Afghanistan also," Palin said. "He knows how to win a war."

Sally, can you use a credit union as a self-employed (or even unemployed)individual or does it have to be as part of a company employee?

CarolJ(Aquariusmoon) [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Sharon, it depends on the Credit Union. Some Credit Unions have loose standards of membership or are more community-based.

Announcing my new blog:

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:
Morgana [TypeKey Profile Page]:

NOLASharon, I checked into the local credit union in our area and their only requirement was that I was a resident of our county.

NOLASharon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thank you, everyone. Is there a concern that even with FDIC insurance (on balances $100K and under) that our money wouldn't be safe if a bank failed?

I have some savings and was going to buy gold coins with it last month but I didn't and now gold has gone up $50 more an oz. I've heard that brokers are still recommending that people buy gold, even now.

Marta [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Sharon, the FDIC only has $50 billion on hand, which is chump change. Buy bullion, why pay a premium for coins. www.kitco.com or on nucleo.com too. I've only used Kitco, but they ran out of the 1 oz. bullion. Nucleo has it though. Mattresses are looking increasing good too. At a 1% rate of return, it's not worth the risk to have all at the bank.

Carol. . .congratulations!

qop. . .you are experiencing what seems to me to be a part of a growing malaise. . .the I Don't Give A S attitude of service providers. I loved the story Mayfly related about the man of color prematurely laid off from his job prior to retirement, and how he literally survied. All the you-owe-mes -- too many privileged white men -- usually have "wives" to cook, clean, iron, wash, care for their children. They have no connection to actual CARE. So, many will probably off themselves (circa 1930's).

But, that's another rant entirely. And, i hope you get your glasses TODAY.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

No glasses today........The problem potentially is that my elevated blood sugar, causes fluctuations in my eye tests. He said get that under control & come back to see him.
Seems to me the "proper", problem solving approach for him would have been to tell me in March that the eye tests varied! and list the probable causes. Instead he just said you need cateract surgery! When I went on to the surgeon he didn't agree!
My brilliant FEMALE MD alternative Med. reiki doer, Picked up enough from a range of symptoms, to run the complete blood work-up.( just last month) And discovered the pre-diabetic 126 blood sugar level. Only 6 points above high normal...........Immediately I stopped eating ANY prepared food, drinking ANY soda! Just unsweetened sparkling water. ANd No commercial bread...gotta make a batch today or tomorrow. I'm p'od that preparing my own food takes so much time.!
Really wish I could turn the clock back to the 70's!

CarolJ(Aquariusmoon) [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thanks for the congrats. I hope to get more than congratulations....I hope that people check out what's under linkdump and spread the information around. States are hiring tech support for the elections, and the best way to keep them honest is for good people to be onboard. Craiglists and several of the other links mentioned are now hiring these people, so if you have tech skills they can use, work!

The same thing with pollworkers-many states are now hiring and training, and with the increasing number of states with early voting, probably need more of kinds of Election Day Workers.
If money isn't what you are concerned with, try working with various Election Protection groups, poll monitoring groups and the like.

Credit Unions are usually safer because the members don't allow the board to make risky foreign investments or play monopoly games with the stock market.

CarolJ(Aquariusmoon) [TypeKey Profile Page]:

That the FDIC has only $50 billion around is scary, Marta. I bet there are a number of good-sized banks that have that much in deposits or at least potential claims. If we had our financial heads on straight, there would at least be a trillion in reserves, with the potential to call on at least that much more in credit.

Maybe I ought to look into food stamps a little more than I have been, being laid off a month from my seasonal job. Signed up to work for Obama (not paid) but still I need to get up and start getting out and about as well.

What scares me is this cold winter that we will have with Shrub still around. A new administration won't take charge until late January when things start to thaw, but there's still November, December and most of January. If he doesn't care now, he really won't care when he starts looking forward to long days on the beach when he doesn't even have to pick up the phone for any reason other than to order takeout. So what if heating oil is high? Venezuela is deciding against supplying heating oil to the United States because Chavez believes the US is actively trying to undermine his Bolivarian Revolution. He'll just sell it to a gas and heating oil hungry China at a profit. Several northern states have relied on this to supply heating oil to low-income seniors and the poor because Shrub won't do this. All we can do is hope that we have a mild winter like we had in 2005 and last year when winter came in February.

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Or to line up them hi-balls & white powder, eh CarolJ? Anybody who has worked with druggie/drunkies knows they're crazier than a mass of bedbugs that's smelled a warm body. THAT'S the consciousness what's taken over our "fair" country gov't.

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Ijust called.....the State of Maione has gotten more LIHEAP moneu alloted this year..............
Happy to say because Hugo & Joe Kennedy have kept me warm the last 2 years.........
The alarms are now disabled! They run on batteries only! so I still have the protection with out the problems!
Now can I go paint?

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Well here in Denver you can join the Public Service Credit Union because Public Service was at one time our gas and electric company, but PS sold to Xcel and the credit union was spun off, however you can still join it by taking out a loan and place $100.00 in the credit union. You will have to call your credit unions and find out. We also have Bellco here connected to Qwest phone system

qop [TypeKey Profile Page]:

McCaine is really around the bend now. And CNN keeps playing him at lunch time. We KNOW who they're voting for!

CarolJ(Aquariusmoon) [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Yanno, Joanna, that's another possibility I've considered. What happens to Bush when he no longer has to even consider a bottom anymore? He'll have millions from his pension and a few select speaking engagements, his daughters are grown and gone, and I bet Laura gets on with her life once she leaves the White House, so there are few considerations if he gets really drunk again. So he could take up old habits again to try to fill all of the empty time.

Isn't McCain already around the bend? This financial crisis is simply out of his league. He's never had to worry about personal finance, let alone the nation's finances, so what experience or knowledge can he draw on to help anyone?

joannaoregon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

There's no reason for me to believe that bushco ever left those old habits or became "clean & sober". It's not so easy to "do"... well, now am going into the white house tra-la tra-la & shall be clean n' sober for the duration. It just doesn't work like that.

NOLASharon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Marta, when you buy bullion, is it a paper thing where they hold it for you or do you physically get it? (Storage could be a problem - I guess safety deposit boxes work.)

I was thinking of buying gold in August but am not sure how to proceed. I think I got that from soothesayer, Linda Schurman. I guess gold is going to keep going up from here on in as people will be buying it.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

This is a shame, but why am I not surprised?

http://news.yahoo.com/page/election-2008-political-pulse-obama-race

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

For all those contemplating buying gold now, don't forget that there are inherent risks here too, because you'll be buying it at a high price. Yes, it may go much higher, but it could also go lower, so make sure you are able to hold it long enough to see some price appreciation. For the ones who bought gold years ago when the price was at an all time low, and held on to it, they are reaping some handsome profits now. If you don't have over a $100,00 in any one bank, or credit union, for up to the amount it is insured, I would hold my money in cash, like a Money Market Fund. This is not intended to be professional advice, just my humble opinion.

NOLAsharon, you can purchase gold bullion through a brokerage, like Fidelity Investments, but make sure you ask for gold bullion, and not a Gold Fund, or gold coins, and they would hold it for you in your name, but you may have to open an account with them. You can contact them for details. They are very good at giving you the information you need to invest wisely, but the ultimate decision would be yours. I am sure that you can also purchase it directly from some source (most likely a government one), but then you would also be responsible for storing it yourself, most likely in a bank vault, or if you have one in your home.
Also be sure to ask about the liquidity of this investment, if you would need to convert it back to cash within a certain time frame.

One problem with Gold right now is Goldman Sachs manipulate the gold markets, if they go under you can count on gold going wild. The fact is we are not safe nor can we make ourselves safe, everything has its risks. In Paulson's plan and GWB (why they are so anxious to get it in place immediately) is a suspension of Act 23A of the Federal Reserve, put in place in 1933 so everyday people would be safe from plunder of their pensions, savings, bank accounts etc. If JP Morgan goes down the FDIC will be broke and with the suspension of Act 23A all those things can be plundered by the government, private accounts gone. This is not socialism of Corporate America, this is fascism. A marriage of Government and Corporations is the definition of a fascist government. The below read is a good read for what is actually happening today, all rooted in the prelude to WWII

Thank you Sally for wording things so very succinctly. Yes this is the birth of Fascism or rather the fascist takeover for which bush/Cheney were put in place.
Remember the departed Justice who said that the count of 2000 had to stop because otherwise it could damage Bush's count? Well, it would have and perhaps we would not be here today. However, this has been a long time planned-starting I think with the murder of JFK.
Fascism-the ugly side of Pluto in Capricorn?? Makes sense to me. But don't forget in the end we will be renewed once we finally grow up and face the truth about our 'leaders'.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Sally, both those articles are good reads, especially Greider's in the Nation. Makes me wonder if Pluto in Capricorn is not ushering in the era of the Plutocrat. I still remember that article that Claudia posted way back (here, or on her own website) concerning Pluto and how she thought it would affect the coming years in the U.S. As usual, taxpayers are going to bear the brunt of the financial burdens, much the same as corporations pass along any increased operational costs to consumers. The thing is taxpayers were not asked if they would like to inherit AIG's $85 billion debt - it was just foisted on them. It will take a revolution (hopefully not a bloody one) to effect real change, especially if Republicans win this one again.

Rehash with the addition of Saturn.

It looks like there will be a rough go financially for the U.S. and its citizens for at least the next 15 months.

The positions are given in right ascension and dates of the aspects will vary from longitudinal positions. Right ascension positions are 'true body' positions of objects in the solar system. For those who do not know, the East Point is a true 90° in right ascension from the MC and the Zenith is a true 90° in right ascension from the ascendant.

Besides the charts listed below there are 2 others which it might be prudent to keep an eye on.

The beginning of the 1929 stock market crash (Black Thursday)
Oct 24, 1929, 11:15 am, EST, NY, NY.

When the banks were closed on Mar 6, 1933, 1 am, EST, Washington, DC

The East Point and Zenith should be found for all charts.

Could Bush be getting ready to implement, or try to, National Security Presidential Directive/NSPD 51 and Homeland Security Presidential Directive/HSPD-20 which he signed on May 9, 2007?

I use 10 am, EDT, Washington, DC as speculative data for that signing.

When Pluto makes its final push through the financial charts of America he is presaged by the old coffin maker Saturn who will warm-up the Oct and Nov points from Oct 14, 2009 through Nov 10, 2010 and return to finish the job in the spring and then summer of 2010.

Sally, if I'm not being too inquisitive, could you possibly expand on the conversations you had with the various brokers/financial advisors who gave you such dire warnings/predictions for the upcoming time period. For example, did any of them predict an actual default of U.S. debt obligations (i.e. a formal declaration of national insolvency)?

At some point in the near future I believe, the major foreign U.S. bondholders (Russia, China, Saudis, Japan, etc.) will decide enough is enough, and will finally stop putting up with the disastrously reckless Rethug instigated actions, and start pulling the plug on their investments, i.e. start selling their U.S. treasury bonds, resulting in a true financial/economic catastrophe for our country.

Most Americans have over the past few years only thought of this issue (if at all) in a totally abstract way (kind of like a computer game) because nothing really happened to them on a concrete day to day basis, but that IMO unfortunately is about to radically change. Hyperinflation? Urban unrest? Shortages of food + gasoline? Supply disruptions? Take your pick. Of course once Rove gets finished spinning it (assuming he's not hung by the @#!*&% by a newly awakened populace) it will all be the Democrats' fault for not being supportive enough of Bush, the oil companies, outlawing abortions, McCain/Palin, gay marriage bans, offshore drilling, the Neo-cons, etc., etc.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thank you all for your comments and observations.

The alternate "reality" created by this criminal administration has nothing solid as a foundation. When this plan fails the fascism scenario will kick in. The goal of Homeland Insecurity has been -- all along -- to implement control. Yet, i believe, they'll be spectacularly unsuccessful.

I just noticed a typo in the last paragraph of my post regarding Saturn's transits to the US financial charts. It should read "...Oct 14, 2009 through Nov 11, 2009, ..." not Nov 10, 2010.

There are hits by either Saturn or Pluto on 8 out of 9 days beginning November 5th and lasting through November 13th 2009.

Nov 5 Saturn

Nov 6 Pluto

Nov 7 and 8 Saturn

Nov 9 No exact hit (Saturn at noon will be 4 minutes of arc past its last exact aspect and 6 minutes of arc from its next exact aspect in this series. Such a small arc will probably offer no respite, might as well consider this period to last for 9 consecutive days.)

Nov 10 and 11 Saturn

Nov 12 and 13 Pluto

Hi Sally,

Regarding your post on September 18, you said:

" Nov. ushers in some of the worst aspects this world has seen in decades. Don't be scared and don't panic, just prepare."

I just wondered if you could elaborate. Did you mean that the aspects in general, or as they relate to the US chart or Wall Street chart?

Ugh! Trailer trash mentality. My neighbor's daughter moved the trailer off the lot..he is here throwing all the vinyl skirting PVC pipe, etc down the hill into the woods........and now he is tidily weed whacking the edge of the plot. ( THAT you can SEE FROM the road.) Yes, this man has served on the school board, been a selectman, very family oriented; ecologocally a moron! Standard here. "Palin mentality!"
I'm still hauling his GRandfather's trash up the hill and disposing of it.
I lived in a racially mixed neighborhood in Philly. It was the black man who went up the block once a year with a squeegee washing everyone's 1st floor windows and invited the kids in for cookies and to see his train set-up at Christmas time......It was a black woman who was always first out with her snow shovel and did everyone's walk, before we had had our coffee!

Marta [TypeKey Profile Page]:

You can buy paper gold on kitco, also known as "pool accounts" if you are planning on buying and selling in the short/mid term. If you're planning on using gold as a "safe haven" buy physical. Even though the market is manipulated, they won't be able to control it forever and gold will go up again. Safety deposit boxes are subject to potential confiscation. All banks and safety deposit houses have an order that states that in the case of an emergency federal order all safety deposit boxes are to be sealed and only papers allowed to be withdrawn. Only documents. So, no, I wouldn't trust any safety deposit box. Besides if the crap hits the fan and the bank is closed, how do you get your "stuff"? The problem with the gold funds is that the shares are on the funds books. If they go belly up, they own the underlying assets, not you because the assets will be in "street name", not issued to you. So get in line with all the rest of the creditors ... One gold fund already imploded due to the market manipulations, so, personally I wouldn't go that route. It's preservation of capital time. And in uncertain times, gold is currency, especially when fiat currency becomes worthless due to hyperinflation.

I understand your hesitation about buying gold. I went through the same thing, where to store, how to do, etc. My suggestion is buy an ounce of physical just to get a feel. You'll figure it out.

+++++++++

We have now racked up $11 trillion dollars of debt, and don't look for Paulson to be on the taxpayer's side - he's a former Wall Sreet Executive - just another fancy name for "crook".

NOLASharon [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thanks for the advice about buying gold. I never would buy the funds or paper guarantees but I did think about using a safety deposit box, so thank you for the reminder. Is it best to buy bullion locally? I imagine so. I guess the challenge is where to hide it/bury it, and hope that you can access it when the time comes, without prying eyes. As much as we plan it out, we can never control things as much as we'd like (but we can a good part of the time - or is it only an illusion? :-)

Rexparte [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Unfortunately our government and leaders are acting like teenagers that only admit to parents what they are actually confronted with and deny everything else. We should expect things to be much worse than they are letting on. Wow what a doomsday scenario.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

You hit it, Sharon. This administration have been masters of illusion.

The incoming president appoints a new treasury secretary. Think about the implications. Before that happens, however, we give Paulsen unlimited power to decide how the treasury gets divided? This is blatantly criminal, a contrived crash. Part of the illusion, part of the plan. The only thing the administration has been good at is stealing. And, they're pulling off the heist of the century.

Marta [TypeKey Profile Page]:

You're welcome! You can check for local dealers, but make sure you're not overpaying. Prices can fluctuate greatly and premiums too. So, it's a good idea to check the internet prices at kitco and nucleo, for instance, against what's locally offered, so you know what the correct pricing should be (bear in mind that the prices change minute by minute sometimes). Also, in buying bullion, make sure it's from one of the "known" companies, i.e. credit suisse or similar because that way you have a guarantee on the quality.

Thanks! Very interesting site!
