NEW YEAR NOCKS

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in th true.
- Alfred, Lord Tennyson

“Ring out the false, ring in the true.” I think this is what we hope for year after year, a ringing in what is true; but the enduring quality we see at the old year’s end and the New Year’s beginning is “hope.” Hope stays with us day after day and year after year, and no matter how battered and beaten it is the last few years, hope still raises its head to scan the horizon in an effort to confirm that it is right to keep showing up.

Each New Year begins with the sign Capricorn, the steady sentimental of foundations. Not a sign associated with renewal but a reminder to check our foundations and shore them up where we are able. Capricorn doesn’t build on “shifting sands” it looks for all he can find that might strengthen the year his persistence and determination gives a slow but sure rise to success and this year and next the ruler of Capricorn (Saturn) trines and provides an ease of accomplishment. Jupiter in this sign will make Capricorn seem a bit more hopeful than usual, which probably means the “wanna be masters of the universe” will continue skim off the top of the financial cream and leaving the rest of us to pay for them. Capricorn rules the 4th house of this New Year chart and the 2nd house in the US chart, so shoring up foundations, collective and individual, will be very much on the mind of the US population. Moguls and mega-corporations will intensify their march to own the world and garner all the funds for themselves. There will be a renewed interest in not paying for services they receive and in the beginning of Pluto taking up Capricorn residency for the next several years, the better qualities of Capricorn will be badly misused for the benefit of the few, leaving the many to scramble. It will be years before those mega-corporations tumble, but they will tumble in time. By the end of 2008 or the beginning of 2009 we could be using a new form of money, something like the Euros. Countries don’t want to play with our dollar anymore thanks to the Federal Reserve (and that’s another story)

A bright spot will eventually be pouring money and resources into saving the environment as the Pluto in Virgo generation is given a boost. Alternative health care will rise and self-medicating with herbs and vitamins and new discoveries will begin to really take center stage this year as we scratch the surface of self-healing, being a victim will be moving out of the picture. Pluto in Virgo generation with the support of Pluto in Capricorn places an emphasis on taking care of yourself and seeing our problems as ones we created. In some ways we are at the beginning of a rather dark and cold period without too much sympathy for anyone but ourselves. Over the next three years Neptune will leave Aquarius and enter Pisces and empathy for others as well as sharing will return for a time. One of the things that will eventually be a part of the Pluto in Capricorn generation will be an understanding of how we as a people, must organize together in order to stand against those who would steal from us for their own greed and avarice. We will need to become a power as a people and will be looking for creative ways to manage doing that very thing. We will all have to find for ourselves the light within and share it with others, what is good and true within ourselves.

The New Year Moon (and the Ascendant) is in Libra in a trine to Neptune, we are looking for balance in our world this year and that need is going to color the elections. We are looking for a rest period even if it’s an illusion.

Pluto and Mars are traveling together in opposition with Mars retrograde at 29 degree Gemini, the first of March Mars will have turned direct (the end of Jan.) and begun the journey of retracing its steps back over its retro period, again opposing Pluto at 0 degree Capricorn. This next week there will be either violence or a build up to violence at the end of January into February, and that will all be Middle East related and the unraveling of all that was done in the first GWB term will continue. Ultimately it might seems as if this administration left no “footprints in the sand,” as a very difficult 7 year period for him has begun and will intensify over the next year and the next and the next etc., etc, etc.

Somehow the continuing turbulence created by the Mars/Pluto opposition turns out ok for us because they both are beneficially aspected by the 29 degree Aquarius NN, something “new” that eventually works for the people.

The election is way up for grabs, however the Inauguration of Jan. 20, 2009 favors Hillary, and we will have to see, all the players are not completely on the table yet; Hillary still has some rough waters to navigate to even become the Democratic Candidate. Michael Bloomberg is still in the wings and that could change everything if he runs. He has the possibility of running and potential of connecting to that US Moon (the people) in Aquarius. He has been one of the biggest financial contributors to those less fortunate for years and years, so there are some positives here, maybe not enough to carry him into the White House, but enough to shake up a system that badly needs to be shaken.

Election Day finds Pluto having retrograded back to Sagittarius, however there are some really ugly aspects on Election Day. Saturn opposes Uranus and Mars square Neptune so Election 2008 is completely up for grabs and I will do some additional work on this after New Hampshire when the field is likely to be a bit thinned out; if you thought 2000 was an election to remember so will this be a stunner. The Bush administration came in on a shock wave and will go out on the same wave, but what comes forward? We have a huge potential on Election Day for another shock, such as another Republican to run this country or someone who is not what they seem to be. The ride toward restructuring this country will continue.

We will continue to look back over what was (Jupiter in Capricorn) in the past while being propelled forward to the future. Jupiter is in opposition to the US Venus and Jupiter I think there will be a lot of relocation this year. People will be looking for new jobs but the reality of their moves is an unconscious need to find a place of safety. I think a lot of people will be moving back to their home town or someplace that looks like where they grew up as families and memories take on new meanings. The value of what we buy becomes more important as well as investments. There will be opportunities coming but we have to keep our eyes peeled to find them. Will we all get what we want this year? NO!! Will we all get something? YES!! There is always another chance to get it right for ourselves. “We will open the book, its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”

New Year’s Day is nothing more than a passage marked by men, not the Universe. Each day builds upon the last day and moving toward the next. Each day is pregnant with possibilities and good news and life. There are a million events that happen to us in a day and each one of them have a specific energy surrounding them. One of the posters made the statement regarding a fine astrologer, Richard Nolle, “that without Richard all astrology would just be gossip.” I am sure that it wasn’t meant to be an insult to all the hard working astrologers out there doing a very good job delineating planets, signs, aspects, mid-points, asteroids, black holes etc and it isn’t based on anything but “gossip,” and I would hope that everyone goes on line and seeks out additional astrological interpretations of the energies, especially check out Alex Miller-Mignone on the Daykeeper Journal http://www.daykeeperjournal.com/index.html. Alex is an expert on Black Holes and Pluto is sitting on a giant black hole of the Galactic Center and will square the largest Black Hole in the Cosmos at 1 degree Libra. I hope he addresses this phenomenon and its impact on the world. The last time Pluto was arrived at 1 degree Libra was in 1971 and it created quite a lot of havoc for the world.

Astrology looks at the mathematics of energy or the stars, draws a conjecture of the outcome based on history and observation but in the end all energy is free wheeling and no one knows for sure where it will land or if the landing will be hard or soft and no one sees the whole puzzle at once. As an example GWB has just entered the very difficult Sadi Sati, how he responds to those problems will be a “wait and see” energy, he hasn’t been here for 29/30 years and according to his biography he had an awakening of sorts regarding his alcohol and drug consumption at that time. The first Sadi Sati often is a time of a grandmother's death and that in fact was the case for GWB, the second Sadi Sati relates to the mother, he could see her pass over the next two to four years and it will be a huge loss and fearful loss for him. I has been known to be a dangerous period for any children the individual might have, I hope that's not the case. Financial issues come to the fore as well as one’s reputation.

With Pluto transiting the 2nd house of the US chart, the first time in well over 225 years, we can review for ourselves or be forced to review what is of real value to us, the people. It’s our spirits that are so valuable and waiting to help not hinder us. It isn’t our bodies, or money or what we think passes as intelligence or beauty it’s our spirit that moves us through the days. Ancient astrologers believed that the Mid-Heaven was the mark of the soul, Saturn rules the Mid-Heaven and with Pluto moving into Capricorn we have an added opportunity to find and make friends with our souls and the true power of our spirits. I wish all of us god-speed in this New Year and our journey.

A well done synopsis for the coming year and especially the thoughts re pluto in capricorn's effect over the coming decades.

As an astrologer myself, I love to give high praise where it's due. Yessir, that was my comment re Richard Nolle. His scientific grasp of huge round cycles and the points within is a thing of beauty, a comprehensive approach that has accuracies like none other I know. The science throws the 'speculation' ie., "gossip" out the window.

Plus, he doesn't possess a huge ego.

shylurker [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thanks ever so much, Cap'n Sally, for this article on this day. As usual, you strike the balance, pointing out the dangers and pitfalls but also seeing opportunities for us to seize and work with to try and realize a better day, better future. In particular, thanks for pointing out that the initial transit of Pluto through Capricon might result in even more ruthless wealth-grabbing but that, eventually, those mighty destructive entities will run head-on into Karma. Pluto going into Capricorn has troubled me for quite some time, but I feel surer about it now, thanks to your insight.

I don't know what a "huge ego" is, but I do know what a healthy ego is and what a needy one is. I guess with this current Mars transit we will have more manifestations of the latter.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Sally, some parts of your article really resonate with me, re: my career and where I am headed in life if time allows.

"I think there will be a lot of relocation this year. People will be looking for new jobs but the reality of their moves is an unconscious need to find a place of safety. I think a lot of people will be moving back to their home town or someplace that looks like where they grew up as families and memories take on new meanings." This really hits home with me, because it's exactly the predicament I'm in right now.

And this, " Pluto is sitting on a giant black hole of the Galactic Center and will square the largest Black Hole in the Cosmos at 1 degree Libra." Sally, my Midheaven is 0-1 degree Libra, and for the past 5 years, I feel as if I've been in a Black Hole where my career is concerned.

Don't forget that the mountain goat is the symbol for the sign of Capricorn, and he is sure-footed as he climbs to dizzying heights. This could be associated with the driving ambition, and tenacity of this sign to be successful, and if Jupiter in Capricorn is now transiting your second house, especially if it contacts a well-aspected planet, it could bring an opportunity for material gain.

Morgana [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Happy New Year 2008 ! Mars Rx is making a trine to the US Moon nice little boost to the grass roots movements. The 29 degree Pluto, Mars Rx., and the Lunar Nodes talk about transitional and fluid! The Lunar NN will enlighten the Moon whilst the SN 29 Leo hanging out in the US 9th House taunting Saturn Rx. 8 Virgo, might give legs to Wexler's impeachment effort.

My husband was ranting that he read where Hillary has promised NOT to pursue charges against George Bush if elected President.

That is disgusting if anyone has links to the actual quote I'd like to see them.

We've a long road ahead.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

JudiGem, thanks for your insight into those Bhutto numbers.

Shylurker, how did the contemplation of your navel go? That post really cracked me up. Also, thanks for posting that article some time back on organic produce. I'm a staunch advocate for eating and drinking organically, but it is so out of reach of the average person price-wise. Just think that 50 or 60 years ago, everything was grown organically because there probably weren't any chemical fertilizers, or pesticides, or genetically modified produce. And even now, some organic produce might not even be so organic, as the water used to irrigate the soil could very well be polluted.

WV, you post links to some really hard-hitting articles, especially the ones from informationclearinghouse, but I gotta tell you that the one by Richard K. Moore, even though strident, comes closer to the truth than others dare to. And in that same vein, here's another good synopsis of how the game is played.

patb [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Whoa there. I believe my comments have been taken a bit too literally. Just sayin'....by not having a huge ego the implication includes a sense of humor and lightness.
No Big Deal.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Good call on the Capricorn "goat" Crystal and great interpretation on that one. You are right. One thing I forgot is to suggest everyone think back to 1971/1972 when Pluto was last at that black hole. I remember it as being a somewhat stressful period of time (I have Neptune right on it and the Moon opposing)But what I remember most is the Vietnam War and the protests, Kent State fell in that time period, there was still unrest of the death of Dr. King and Bobby Kennedy, Civil Right was still an issue but settling down somewhat and Watergate and all the corruption in the Nixon WhiteHouse was really a hot topic in 1972 before the election and then really heated up in 1973 and 1974.

Shy, you are right, it's the bigger transits that set the backdrop for a period of time and then the smaller ones set off the events. Although the larger ones can bring unresolved issues to the table. I remember in the Bosnia War tracing it back to the 11th century and the first war in that region, evertime a major aspect interacted with those initial aspects there was a war or major chance. The first war in the 11th Century was never resolved in Bosnia's favor and they just kept coming back.

Predictions for a New Year
The last day of 2007: End of the year.

Looking ahead to 2008: What will the New Year bring?

Or better yet: What will it not bring?

Our destiny of late seems determined more by what doesn't happen. With that cheery thought in mind, here's our predictions on what probably will or won't happen in 2008:

President George W. Bush's Presidency will not end in 2008. It will end on January 20, 2009, unless he finds a way to complete his seizure of absolute, dictatorial power over what used to be a Democratic Republic called The United States of America.

It justice were possible in our society, Bush would end 2008 doing hard time at Leavenworth but that ain't gonna happen.

shylurker [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Crystal, I'll just say that navel watching has been vastly overrated. Happy New Year to you, too. A joyous yet peaceful one!

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

None of the Republican candidates appeal to me, and Huckabee is downright scary.
Since my first Democratic choice, Kucinich, is not even going to be in the running for the Primaries, I am not going to waste my time there. I will concentrate on the 3 frontrunners - Clinton, Obama, and Edwards, for my predictions on the Iowa caucus. Unfortunately, the degree on the Midheaven plays an all important part here, and if the candidates' birth-times are not accurate, the predictions are going to be off. Claudia Dikinis usually has the charts posted on her website, but when I click on "Matrix", I keep getting the error message "page not found". Can anyone point me towards the most reliable natal charts for the 3 Democratic frontrunners? Much obliged.

The Un-American Lockheed Martin and Treason for Profit...

As more news about Benazir Bhutto's assassination comes out, clearly implicating the Musharraff regime in the murder, our tax dollars are going toward paying Lockheed Martin for weapons to Pakistan.

patb [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Crystal, re your MH at 1 libra. Where do you have venus and saturn in your chart? Maybe it's a matter of shifting perspective instead of simply BH's suckin' ya out the portal in deep space.
I have SArc saturn at that same degree which makes a bit of a mutual reception with natal venus in aq 28 pallas at 29. My life feels like it's on a rotating platform in deep space with nothing supporting it (cozmic "huh?").
One suffers alone it seems.
Goldman'a "Zodiac By Degrees" says this of 1 libra, a MH degree shared by you and Lewis Caroll, saturn JRR Tolkien, mercury Mother Teresa, neptune Da Vinci:

"Spreading one's wings: unfolding a more mature and expansive image of oneself vs. getting trapped in one's own or wsomeone else's idealized view of oneself; holding to crystallized (!) memories of perfect moments vs. being open to the changeable, unpredictable nature of life (whimsicalfickle); living within an idealized image of the world vs. the spirit's entrapment in a lower plane; discontented search for the ideal within the manifest; sudden recognition of archetypal truths that manifest in everyday life (flashes of insight); symbolic and allegorical thinking; spriritual insigts revealed in dreams, visions, or the imagination; self-absorbed egotism vs. ego-loss and spiritual enlightenment."

Pretty common dilemma which I'm feeling too, in spades. With saturn in virgo trining that cap stuff, I'm considering health-related work to support my art, maybe giving these disparate endeavors equal structured time (Ha-Ha-Ha!). We'll see.

Voice of the White House December 30, 2007

TBR News.org – December 30, 2007

“My, my, children, just think, another ‘Bin Laden tape’ has surfaced! Isn’t that astounding?

It would seem that the Bush people, who have these made up, must have a new policy of repression aimed at the American public. Isn’t it astounding? Every time the proto-fascistic Republicans want something, they try to terrorize the pubic with threats of World War III, a possibility of a nuclear attack from some fictive terrorist group but of all of these, the cherry on the sundae is the famous (and convenient) ‘Bin Laden Tape.’

I hate to jerk the covers off this charming game but Osama Bin Laden has been dead and buried since 2003. He died of kidney failure in a Pakistani hospital, with the full knowledge of General Musharraf and for certain, our government. A dead Bin Laden is of no use to us but a live one is a wonderful threat so the “tapes” just keep coming and always at just the right moment.

And as to who killed Benazir Bhutto, the PDB (President’s Daily Briefing) makes it very, very clear that Musharraf was the motivator. His army might not have supplied the bomb or the gun but he was the prime benefactor of her convenient death. Que bono always.

"In Washington, Mr. Obama made it clear almost immediately that his
career would not be defined by his race. One of the first acts of the

From "A member of a new generation, Obama walks a fine line,"

http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/12/28/america/obama.php?page=3

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Pat C, the post above is a powerful editorial on Obama. I read another poster from another site earlier today and he said "almost anyone has been able to sell me on Obama, his wife, his friends, Oprah, everyone but Obama, I still don't know what or who he stands for."

Earlier today Morgana sent me an editorial by Gary Hart, also excellent. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/gary-hart/the-national-interest-and_b_78987.html

I pour over Obama's chart and I certainly see intelligence but I don't see depth of thought or how to apply it to himself, that can certainly be immaturity. In spite of a convoluted childhood, he had a very nice childhood, much loved. His Mercury opposes Jupiter and the Moon in Gemini trines his Jupiter and sextiles his Mercury, that is a child that is adored with exposure to intellectual thought and experiences. He has Mars trine Saturn, lots of good discipline of purpose there, very helpful for studies, he knew how to apply himself plus he has that earth stability that's so important. Right now his high popularity comes from his progressed Moon conj. his Jupiter, but by next month that popularity will be on the wane (actually late this month) I think he is probably a very nice person, but a very weak person. He is too subject to flattery with a Leo Sun and Venus in Cancer inconjunct Jupiter and could be too subject to what his handlers tell him to do with his Uranus inconj. Saturn and that was the fatal downfall of Gore and Kerry.

When he announced his candidacy the Sun and Saturn were nearly exactly (to arc) opposing, at 21 Leo/Aquarius and Neptune is now covering ground as he returns to 21 degrees Aquarius. Barack and Hillary could be facing the same problem with Neptune uncovering that which they don't want uncovered. Neptune is nearly within a degree of the August opposition of Saturn/Neptune and will be exact for Obama and Hillary before Feb. 5. Between now and then the bottom could fall out for them both. I don't see charisma in his chart, I do see a very friendly and outgoing person, but not charisma.

There is a fall for both Hillary and Obama, but it's hard to tell if it will be a fatal fall as it relates to the race for the presidency. Hillary for sure will not give up unless forced. Once transiting Jupiter passed her progressed Jupiter she started losing ground in the polls, transiting Jupiter has now passed her progressed Sun, and again her polls rose a bit and have now fallen again. This race is going to be tough for them both, but who is there to rise? Edwards? Biden? Bloomberg???? The next two weeks will be a real nail biter for them.

I'm more hopeful here than most. I remember that Martin Luther King was a Capricorn after all.

But to me, I watch the growth of an alternative economy of restoration and preservation, or the
rebirth of thrift and the new barter/trade economy.http://www.barterbart.com/,
http://www.freecycle.org, other forms of online trading and swapping
Hugo Chavez has a policy of trading oil for needed services and goods, and is creating a
"new economy" for Venezuela. http://www.politicsandculture.net/hugo-chavez-saint-or-sinner/

The Green movement has a preservationist side that is just now emerging-recycling old
buildings for housing or new uses is both economically and ecologically sound.
( http://www.greenhomebuilding.com ). This is the next logical step to take in terms of preserving the environment and reducing the carbon footprint-new houses on new land takes up needed farmland, while preserving houses on already occupied land takes no new land out of farming.

Homebased farming is traditional-there's the tradition of Victory Gardens from World Wars I and II that can be revived- http://www.foodnotlawns.org

Thank you for the peek into this volatile year, Sally. The profundity of our collective amnesia -- the ghastly costs and futility of war, the sellout and buydown of our trade systems -- may be a part of the karmic blowback from Atlantis. Some have returned to set it right, others to re-create the cconsumptive degeneration into chaos using the tools of religion to do so.

I see my family eventually moving to re-establish a core group, as you suggest. Children moving back home with their children, etc. This may be a part of survival mode.

Thank you all for your hard work and vigilence, the great links!

And. . .QOP Pat misses you all. She'll be in touch as soon as she returns home. In the meantime she and i wish all of you a new year filled with greater insight and, hopefully, a prosperity of experience and hope.

I'm not hearing anyone jumping up and down over this year right now and right now I am not seeing anything, not from the New Year chart. shylurker [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Two very important articles here. First, the destruction of the tapes was approved at "highest level" and the co-chairs of the joint 9/11 Commission are calling it "obstruction". Nicely written article. Second, if you'll continue down to the second article, it's an explosive piece on "war all the time" and, of course, on our dime. Great graphs and quotes and comparisons with other nations (they don't compare to us, really). Good article to copy and send on to the sheeple you know.

Thanks for the Obama piece, Cap'n Sally. He concerns me for he seems so naive, and he is quoted lately as saying even more naive things. Fascinating to see the astrology that underlies the perception.

Morgana [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Victory Gardens, I love it. I've had a Victory Garden all my life where ever I have lived if I didn't have a patch of dirt I grew veggies in pots. Those little gardens back then are the reason I chose to live where I do, fresh water springs, and good earth to grow in. Today I have created a small orchard since the rats keep attacking my veggies (coyotes wiped out the feral cats), anyway, Granny Smith apples, Red and Yellow Delicious, Pear and Cherry trees, one of each.

Sally, it's a lemonade year.

We're battening down the hatches here, the local weather folks are telling us to expect ten inches of rain, the Alaskan low is sucking in the tropical express. They are saying it'll fill up our empty reservoirs...we need a drought breaker.

PatC [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thanks for the Gary Hart article Sally. We lost a lot when he was destroyed you scandal. I wish that tactic would become a thing of the past. Thievery and affairs are just not on the same plane IMHO. I see what he is saying but on the other hand, those that hold office must not consider that opportunity as a license to rob the country of its assets and freedoms, and world hegemony. This was intended to be a country of laws, not men.

Take this for example, and it is almost minor compared to "signing statements", governmental lies, monopolies, and corporate rulership.

A Letter from Michael Moore

snip

Edwards is the only one of the three front-runners who has a universal health care plan that will lead to the single-payer kind all other civilized countries have. His plan doesn't go as fast as I would like, but he is the only one who has correctly pointed out that the health insurance companies are the enemy and should not have a seat at the table.

I am not endorsing anyone at this point. This is simply how I feel in the first week of the process to replace George W. Bush. For months I've been wanting to ask the question, "Where are you, Al Gore?" You can only polish that Oscar for so long. And the Nobel was decided by Scandinavians! I don't blame you for not wanting to enter the viper pit again after you already won. But getting us to change out our incandescent light bulbs for some irritating fluorescent ones isn't going to save the world. All it's going to do is make us more agitated and jumpy and feeling like once we get home we haven't really left the office.

On second thought, would you even be willing to utter the words, "I absolutely believe to my soul that this corporate greed and corporate power has an ironclad hold on our democracy?" 'Cause the candidate who understands that, and who sees it as the root of all evil -- including the root of global warming -- is the President who may lead us to a place of sanity, justice and peace.

shylurker [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Well, well, well, that loud knocking (following on Cap'n Sally's theme) you hear is an investigation just announced into the destruction of those torture tapes. The USAG who'll be leading it sounds like he's cut from the same mold as Patrick Fitzgerald.

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/062437.php

As they say, "Keep on knockin'" and kick that door down. Mmmmmm Mmmmmmm.

wv [TypeKey Profile Page]:

All of those involved in the coverup of the destruction of the CIA tapes should be
'waterboarded', maybe we could get the 'truth' out of them. Include Nancy Pelosi in that group, she is a TRAITOR!

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Hear! Hear! wv! I've had the same thought -- and worse regarding those who value life so little. But, because i do value life, i abandon such thoughts in favor of an embarrasing spanking -- pants down, in front of an unfriendly audience. oops, did i really say that? :)

Then, this excellent -- and terribly disconcerting -- book review regarding genetically modified seeds. Anything the self-appointed elite can control will be.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

The Michael Moore article is excellent PatC and sure rings true for me. Edwards has absoutely been cut out. I don't know if people would like Edwards, Biden or Dodd if they knew them better or were presented in the fawning light by the media that Hillary and Obama are presented but they weren't given an opportunity to see if they could be liked or trusted more than the two the mega corporations have picked out to "lead" with the emphasis on Hillary.

Karen, a friend of mine who is a doctor, in fact he and his wife are doctors and they have researched this up and down and are going completely green in their life. They said to stay away from organic seeds because those are produced and supplied by such companies (operating under different names) as Monsanto (the biggest producer of GM seeds) instead try and buy Heirloom seeds, you can find them still on line but I don't know for how long. Norway has stocked every seed known to man (heirloom seeds) in a cave because they think the world is going to need them.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Sally, the Linda Schurman site was an interesting read. Don't believe I've ever come across her website before. And that information on Heirloom seeds sure will come in handy for me. Got to remember that, when I'm forced to plant a garden. Ever since I could remember, Monsanto has stood for everything that's inimical to the health and well-being of the human race.

Well, I couldn't find any verified birthtimes for the 3 Dems, so I had to forgo using the Midheaven degree and house placements for my predictions; but this is how it looks to me: 1)Obama 2)Clinton 3)Edwards
There will be a new moon on the day of the N.H. caucus, or whatever they call it, so predictions should be easier then.
By the way, Obama's birthdate works out as 8.4.8. Maybe JudiGem can shed some light on that.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Crystal, Edwards birthtime is 7:02am given by his wife, Obama is rectified by an expert in the field of rectification as 1:06pm and Hillary's birthtime has been given as 2:16am by her mother but her mother on another occasion said 8:00am. I use 2:16 am, seems to work better, don't know why it's so hard to pin down other than Chicago (where she was born) did a terrible and confusion job of recording birthtimes in the 40's and 50's

Glad you liked Linda's site, I've posted it before but try to remember to do so every now and then. I really like her, she is an extremely gracious lady.

Sally, I did a speculative rectification of Huckabee that had him born at 5 am. According to Nancy he is doing well-and is, but when someone does well in the polls but not moneywise, something is up. According to my rectification he has Saturn in the first by transit and Neptune squaring Moon. It explains his gaffes a little better now.

Perhaps midpoints between the candidates and the United States Chart (7/4/1776, 4:47 pm) and the transits to those points might explain more about electoral prospects. I struggled to compare candidate transists with each other, but that wasn't very conclusive.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I'm not a big fan of retification (but I have and do use them) I've just had too many of them turn out to be waaaaaaaaaaay off, but I do them myself when I feel desperate for the time, at least an approximation of the time and I am going to use the 5:00am time you have. The think about the Huckabee chart is the inconjuncts from Jupiter to all his Leo and I am interested to see if he puts his foot not just in his mouth but down his throat in the next few weeks as Uranus comes to an opposition to his Mercury. Jupiter is past the trine to his Sun so I think we will start seeing a drop by New Hampshire. But who else is there? McCain is well liked in NH and he has put a lot of energy there. I think Huckabee is a dangerous egotist but he also has a magnetic quality about him.

His Draconic Chart is quite telling but also shows a potential fall off at the same time I see Obama and Hillary stumble. I wish I could see a good candidate among the sea of candidates but there are so few options leaving me to feel someone will be shoved down our throats. There is still Bloomberg and I read an article a couple of weeks ago in Forbes and somebody said Bloomberg would announce on Feb. 5. We'll see.

PatC [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I thought you all would find this pretty interesting.

Michael Winship | 1968: Always Something Next

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/010208S.shtml

Writing for Truthout, Michael Winship says, "Lately, much has been made of the fact that 2008 marks the 40th anniversary of the tumultuous year 1968. A History Channel documentary by Tom Brokaw, Tuesday's New York Times column by Bob Herbert, various articles and media commentaries - all have made the point, that, as Herbert wrote, 'One of the astonishing things about 1968 was how quickly each shocking, consciousness-altering event succeeded the last, leaving no time for people to reorient themselves. The mind-boggling occurrences seemed to come out of nowhere.'"

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Now that makes sense, buying heirloom seeds. Thanks for that tip, Sally. I know Monsanto bought one of the large organic seed producers. You can tell by their catalogue -- now five-color slick and printed on enamel card stock. errrrrrrrr

Usually cull my own seed, but there are still seeds i end up needing. Heirloom it is from now on.

From Mandeville....

BULLETIN ITEM: Can the Iowa Caucus Be Manipulated By The Globalist Cabal?

MWM: You bet it can and here is how it can be easily thrown by an Israeli company to please Globalist strategies:

http://www.rense.com/general79/sis.htm

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Shy, I wish I still believed that there was anyone in Congess left that cares about the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Carol, using your rectification of Huckabee's chart with a 5:00am birthtime, you are right he will do very well now with Pluto still very close to his Venus and Mars (gives him a Taurus mid-heaven) plus Uranus is sextiling his mid-heaven this week (opportunities)A win for him in Iowa might shake up the establishment and then again he and Romney would be perfect shills for the Bush people they might not care. I think it would actually be Ron Paul that would shake them up and what if he came in 2nd or 3rd. Ouch for all of them.

Bill Clinton didn't run in Iowa and I remember there was some talk of Hillary skipping Iowa and then she changed her mind, at the end of this evening she may have wished she went with her earlier hunch to skip it and go straight to NH

patb [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Sally and all, re seeds and Monsanto. It is not a stretch to connect the disappearance of BEES to the use of genetically altered crops with their pollen blowing all over the place.

Does anyone else recall the story early on about GA corn how the monarch butterflies would drop dead right in the field after their little proboscuses made contact with those distorted pistils?
Pesticides of course are a huge factor. But the bees worldwide are vanishing with such a hellacious swamping of their immune systems...
maybe we should stick to locally grown fruits and flowers (distorted-looking ones appearing at places like Home Depot and supermarkets).

I too have been saving seeds, nothing pre-packaged. Have a tender spot for heirloom apples, admittedly some not. But they are the 'real' ones, not the ones spliced to death genetically.

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

patb, we had an in depth discussion of the bee emergency last spring, i believe. I agree with you. According to some limited research on mice, the modifier attached to the dna on gmo crops produced smaller hearts, liver damage, immuno deficiences leading to various cancers. We're being experimented on (AGAIN), the bees being the canaries in the food chain.

shy, that kissinger quote sums up just what we can expect from The Manipulators.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

patb, My Venus and Saturn are both in Virgo in the ninth. I seem to have a pairing of planets in my chart, e.g. Mars & Jupiter in Sag. in the 12th, and Uranus and Moon in Cancer in the 7th.

Sally, I'm using the charts for the candidates that are posted on astrofuturetrends.com. The times given there, are 8:02 a.m. for Hillary, 1:06 p.m. for Obama, and 7:02 a.m. for Edwards. I used the transiting moon in Scorpio today to make my predictions for tonight, but I let the recent full moon have the final say. However, if the recent lunation is not viable for tonight's results, then Obama may be in for a nasty surprise (T moon's final aspects squaring his MC & Uranus, in that order),T moon's final aspect for Edwards will be a trine to his MC, provided his birthtime is correct, and Hillary should do well too, with T moon's last aspect trining her Pisces moon. The recent full moon was conj. Obama's Venus, trine Hillary's Sun, with no aspects to anything in Edwards's chart. Anyhow you look at it, it remains a close call.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Has anyone had dreams relating to a message that could be from world leaders. I have talked to three people who have all had this type of dream in the last few days. The dreams were either waiting for someone to come with a message, having a message given to them by a world leader or known person and no one got the message (yet) anyone here have any odd dreams like that?

karen [TypeKey Profile Page]:

No such dreams yet, Sally. Maybe tonight, but how darn interesting. Still mulling that over.

For those of you who do want to buy heirloom seeds try http://www.seedsofchange.com

patb [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Gee Crystal, you sure have what it takes to defend those who can't! Such a justice thing you have going on.
Whenever I look at horary charts with planetary pairings like you have, it's always about pairs of people in the person's life.
You're also about to experience some nice earth trines...and a nice mutual reception between mercury in libra, and venus in virgo (pluto's been hittin' you there for a long time more than your MH at 1 libra). Since you have been hit again & again with pluto's callous square to venus (almost over).
You ought to have some nice support coming in this year with venus & jupiter on your progressed sun, power too, with pluto getting in line.
You might jump off the hamster wheel you're on for what it is you love the best.

PatC [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Sally, I've had a pretty icky flu so I can't really vouch for any of my dreams but I would sure like to hear more about those dreams people are telling you about these messages. Wonderful!

Distinguished Journalist Slams NBC’s Censorship

Kudos to veteran journalist and erstwhile Dateline reporter John Hockenberry:

A former “Dateline NBC” correspondent claims that in the aftermath of September 11, the network diverted him from reporting on al Qaeda and instead wanted him to ride along with the country’s “forgotten heroes,” firefighters.

John Hockenberry, who was laid off from “Dateline” in early 2005, wrote in this month’s Technology Review that on the Sunday after the September 2001 attacks he was pitching stories on the origins of al Qaeda and Islamic fundamentalism. He claimed that then-NBC programming chief Jeff Zucker, who came into a meeting Hockenberry was having with “Dateline” executive producer David Corvo, said “Dateline” should instead focus on the firefighters and perhaps ride along with them a la “Cops,” the Fox reality series.

According to Hockenberry, Zucker said “that he had no time for any subtitled interviews with jihadists raging about Palestine.”

talkingpointsmemo.com has a scoreboard up (currently showing 0, of course) for results of the Iowa caucuses. The scoreboard is right there on the front page.

Sally [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Well they are off and watching this first hour has been very instructional to say the least. I think I like the Caucus format. Huge turn out, three times greater than 2004, lots of independents and more voters from the younger set.

It started on a VOC Moon in Scorpio (ouch) and that stays void all night, it went VOC right before the Caucus began. The mid-heaven of this chart is Aries and the ruler of that is Mars and retrograde, close to a conjunction to John Edwards Mars indicating a slight boost perhaps, plus it's past the Pluto opposition, making no additional aspects today or tomorrow.

Tonight's Moon conjuncts Huckabee Moon, but the night will end with the Moon closer to Romney's Jupiter/Moon Conjunction in Scorpio also Joe Biden (on the Dem side) Sun/Venus Scorpio conjunction and trines his Jupiter, I cannot believe Joe could come from so far behind but he will do better that thought I think.

Tonight's Moon conjuncts Hillary's SN, something from the past that she deserves??? and coming from the people. Uranus trines Hillary's Venus and Huckabee's Saturn, but it trines Ron Paul's Jupiter, could indicate a big win for him.

The VOC Moon and retro Mars could easily mean that Iowa will mean nothing in the end but give both parties a shock and a message. It will be an interesting night

Obama and Huckabee both win!

Morgana [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Biden, Dodd, and Gravel have dropped out of the race tonight. Swoosh clearing the decks.

To round out your meal of genetically-altered veggies, the FDA is going to announce that meat and milk from cloned animals is just fine, too. Probably even better if it's irradiated.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/22499453

lunaoscura [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Maybe they could add some beef flavor to the cloned, irradiated, arificially colored, genetically altered beef? Ya think? The taste of unsalted, unseasoned cardboard is getting kind of old.

shylurker [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Oh, lunaoscura, I think the flavor could be vastly improved by dumping some MSG over all. No?

lunaoscura [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Shylurker, you made me laugh out loud!

Then they can give us anti inflammatory drugs to deal with the bloated swollen allergy reactions we'll get from all that great stuff we eat. Gosh! They just think of every solution to everything don't they!

Hey now. . .let's not pick on those hard-working cowboys. Besides their cloned beef'l not be tasteless! They'll be free-rangin', dining on all that wonderful gmo grass modified with msg! You'll be enjoying every poison bite along with millions of others who suddenly develop uncontrollable diarrhea. Think of the economic boom! Dry cleaners, sanitation workers, of course drug companies and physicians. It's a miracle! The brilliant answer to our current economic woes.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Good morning all. I guess the Iowans saw through Hillary's phoniness, and chose Obama's sincerity over it, but above all, I think they voted for change over same old. I have to say that I really like Obama. I liked him from the start, but it's more Obama the man, than Obama the candidate, that I admire. I can see the future of America in his face, and I think he's a great family man. As for those who berate his lack of experience, I think he proved to them that he was capable of organizing a great campaign, and he worked tirelessly to achieve his goal. Not that Hillary, and Edwards didn't work tirelessly too. (they all looked like they could use a few good night's sleep), but the other two are seasoned campaigners, and Obama is the rookie. Obama's win here is by no means an indication that he will be the nominated candidate, but it's a good start, and should boost his self-confidence. I thought that when Bob Kerrey(who endorsed Hillary),not so subltly dropped a hint about Obama's Muslim connections, that it might have had a negative impact on Obama's campaign, but I guess good Iowan sense prevailed. I looked at Hillary trotting out her mother and daughter on the campaign trail to try and convince the voters that she had a human face, but it didn't work. So now it's on to N.H. I think I said this before, but I see Obama as the Uniter who is needed to heal the wounds of division in American politics.

Now, I don't expect everybody to agree with the above, and that is ok, because everyone identifies with the candidates differently, but no candidate is going to fit the bill perfectly, so it's about making the right choice for you from what is available.

Patb, thanks for that little analysis. You sure are on the button about the justice thing, and I always tend to support the underdog. I have already jumped off the hampster wheel, but now I'm looking for my new direction. Sometimes I really feel ruderless, and even like a drifter, never achieving true job satisfaction, but I'm working on trying to fix that. It ain't easy though, because you still need the almighty dollar to survive!

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

On the topic of eating healthy, I wonder if the FDA hasn't noticed the upsurge of IBS in the past few years, and what might be behind it. I find them always slow to be pro-active. No wonder Americans keep getting sicker and sicker each year. Then factor in STRESS(and don't let me get started on the many causes of).

shylurker [TypeKey Profile Page]:

So, Crystal, I went over to Clusty and typed in "ibs". First up was the International Bible Society, but I didn't think that's what you had in mine. Next up was Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which seems to be what you did have in mind.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

No, I didn't mean the International Bible Society, shylurker. LOL.

Bush's Latest Blunder, Helping The Chinese To Upgrade Their Military

Morgana [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Marta,
That little oped on Hillary was scathing. Might be the whole political spectrum is going to be turned upside down this year for both parties.

Shy hunker down there, this storm is whooping us.

shylurker [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thanks Miz Morgana. I just shop-vac'd up huge amounts of water and scooted that on down the drive way because I had some minor flooding. Huge gust or two must have lifted a shingle (temporarily) because I had this strange little drip in one room--and then it suddenly stopped, thank heavens (or whichever skybeing therein who saw to that). Right now we're in a lull, with rain expected to continue shortly, but with the wind subsiding. Everybody on the Left Coast do take care. That wind was something else!

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Marta, the opednews article was a great read. The writer certainly didn't mince any words, and I can't say that I disagree with him. I missed Obama's victory speech last night, and I just read that he won with a whopping 41% of the vote as opposed to Hillary's 29%? Wow! Got to look at the news tonight to see all that transpired.

Marta [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thanks Morgana and Crystal ... I also thought the OpEd article was very well put. Crystal, there's another one that argues exactly the same thing for Obama (i.e. if he's the nominee he won't make it). I personally don't care for Obama as I see him, despite his rhetoric, as just a nice guy in a suit with no experience who's going to continue the status quo. I don't understand all the hype about him. He hasn't accomplished anything except be elected a US Senator as far as I can see. I don't feel any strength emanating from him at all. He'll be slaughtered by the rethugs if he gets the nomination... Madrassa's and all. Just think what the Swift Boat Machine would do to him. Let's not forget they were able to turn Kerry's war record against him and make it sound like Bush was a war hero. There is no way Obama will make it. Racism is alive and well in this country yet. I can just see another 4-8 years of republicans and the continued destruction of this country and our economy if he's the nominee.

Crystal [TypeKey Profile Page]:

It looks like something is out there in the Pacific ocean, la nina perhaps? Well, Californians are taking it on the chin again. Some of them have even lost power. Similar climactic conditions are occuring in Australia - their west coast is being consumed by fire, and the east coast, by floods. Did anybody see that thick brown foam that's washing up on the Australian beaches? Really strange.

Marta, I'm not ready to give up on Obama just yet, though I agree there are still a lot of people out there who don't want to see a black man in the White House, but like Obama, I have the "audacity of hope". Anyway, the race is far from over, and anything can happen.

I too am furious! Here's the transcript of what i wrote to Disney Corp.

"We have become that which our founders warned against.

Not only is the decision to eliminate Dennis Kucinich (from January 5, 2008 primary debate) frightening, it re-affirms what so many are beginning to fear. That is, we have become a fascist state. Will TWDC continue to be complicit in a stragety to disembowel the constitution? Is the goal to feed the "unwashed masses" pablum with the goal of maintaining the corporate/slave structure?

Dennis Kucinich speaks for a greater majority than those who are fully ensconced in the criminality of an elite globalist culture; "safe" behind their protected sanctuaries and gross wealth."

By the way, are you able to get online Morgana? Shy? Any of you Left Coasters? That storm is horrific!

shylurker [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I B Fine, Karen, if a bit damp and wind-blown. Many thanks for asking.

lunaoscura [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I'm here in Oakland. Right now it's not raining and it's not too windy.

Yesterday though, was another story.

Morgana [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I'm in the Santa Cruz Mountains more rain, heavy at times. Power was down about 11 hours yesterday (we have a backup generator). Saw a patch of blue earlier this morning. Whopper storm, I've heard reports it was equivalent to a Cat 2 - Cat 4...global warming anyone ?

Watch out Sally it's coming your way!

Marta [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Crystal, you're right ... it's better to focus on hope (positive). At least you've found a candidate that inspires you!

Shy and Morgana, wow, the Mother of all Storms! Be well!
