I would like to call attention to the book offering on the right "People-Powered Times" Written by Jerome Armstrong and Markos Moulitsas Zunig. Marcos is the founder of Daily Kos (with MYDD listed as the God-father) Jerome is the founder of MYDD, they are considered two of the best political bloggers in the US today and the genius behind political blogs and internet grass roots political activitism. They organized and gave people a directed voice into politics.
I strongly encourage everyone to buy their book for yourself and as a gift to others. These are the two men who tapped the power of the people, directed the energy and know how to get power back into our hands. I can hardly wait to read it, Jerome and Markos are our modern day Thomas Paine whose voices of people power reverberate throughout the internet directing and empowering us all to be the "leaders" we've so badly needed.

A friend of mine suggested I write something positive for a hopeful uplift on Astroworld, and I wondered if that would put me in the same category of George Bush. George with his ever cheery “all is going fantastically well, and I and Brownie are doing a heck of a good job.” George throws these sunshine bulletins as more people are killed and maimed in Iraq, as the economy of the poor and middle class keep falling, as the housing bubble is bursting, as scandal after scandal keeps piling up in front of the White House.
In a way I can identify with George Bush in my desire to put a positive spin when all around us seems to be falling apart. I have wondered if he or his handlers are scrambling to think how to put humpty dumpty together again. I did notice that Cheney, Rove and Bush don’t seem to have any new ideas to present to the public, just the same ole, same ole verbage. It’s not even repackaged into new refrains unless you count, “oh by the way, we are illegally spying on you and will continue to do so.”
In honor of my friend I have poured over the past, present and future astrological charts. The past and present is filled with lies, power grabs, corruption, massacres of the innocent; it’s a veritable smorgasbord of the worst of humanity and it just goes on and on. I’m not even talking about the folks in prisons; I am talking about our leaders. The future of course is a little cloudy and one would think that based on the historical past and the present, we can only expect more of the same in the future; that’s what conventional wisdom would tell us and we are down to what seems to be 3 balls and 2 strikes, so the option still remains open as to whether we walk, run or take the bench to a new consciousness, either way we will get there, but we have to go back to THE PEOPLE and that’s us. First of all, we must stop pinning our hopes on the Democrats. In case no one has noticed the last 5 years the Democrats come up to the door of challenge but they never walk through. The “leaders” of the Democratic Party (May 13, 1792, 12:00noon, Philadelphia, PA) seemingly cannot or will not get their act together. They are either incompetent, afraid, or part of the problem.
I personally like the 1832 Jackson reorg chart. (May 21, 1832, 12:00pm Baltimore, MD) With its SA Mars in an applying conjunct to their Natal Saturn over the last 5 years, it would explain their frustrated action. Mars has recently passed their Saturn and transiting Uranus is now opposing, so my hope with this chart is Uranus shaking them out of their rut. It’s interesting to note that both the Democratic Party and Republican have their progressed Mars Retrograde. They seem to have lost their ambition as political change agents and both resemble a merry go round and round and rouuuuuuuuuuuuuund unable to create “music” anymore. This country needs a new and progressive party, and I believe one has been seeded in the last year. As long as there are just these two parties we will continue to go round and round and rouuuuuuuuuuuuuuund with them. We may do so anyway as the US Mars goes retrograde in July of this year.
When transiting Pluto opposed the US Mars in Gemini and squared US Neptune in Virgo, it unleashed the ugly hidden truth of America. We torture, we always have (remember the Native American Indians and the African/Americans) we torture, the government steals from us, they lie to us, they have always started unnecessary wars, we are power mad, we spy and are spied upon, we are fearful people, we are religious hypocrites obsessed with sex and who is doing what. Pluto in Sagittarius unleashed the nasty truth about America and Americans, for those that will listen and look, but it’s the truth of all that ugly nasty stuff that can transform this country into a higher consciousness. Mars square Neptune in a country’s energy pattern indicates that sometimes the people of the country will lower their standards in their leaders. Well, we’ve done that for sure.
Pluto has passed making hard aspects to our energy (Mars) and illusions (Neptune) but he is still digging around in Sagittarius, unearthing and changing religion in this country, the law and courts, around the world travel, education, Sagittarius covers a lot of territory, and by the time Pluto leaves this sign, the breakdown of these structures should be nearly complete just in time for the re-structure plus new foundations of Pluto’s transit through Capricorn. Ultimately religion, not ideology will be seen as the prime motivating and destructive force in human affairs. We, the people, could be spending our time right now envisioning what we want those structures to be instead of grieving the loss of the old.
The US progressed Profection chart (This directs the chart by 30 degrees per year. Conventionally, you would use this direction method to find when the directed Ascendant makes conjunctions to points in the radix chart) has some fascinating contacts this year. The Uranus conj. US Mercury and Mercury squares US Uranus, the leaks and shocks just keep coming this year so keep the popcorn handy. Mr. Bush's Profection chart indicates he will continue (or try) to bring a restrictive hammer down on the US, but it will also end up having a hammer welded against him, it's a catch 22 for him as the US pushes back.
I don’t think the US is in adolescence, I think we are having a mid-life crisis, kind of like adolescence only it can be more damaging. The government (all three branches) polls are drooping like a mid-life butt, and they are trying to lift weights to impress the younger generation and the weights are getting heavier and heavier for them. The younger generation will ultimately rule (higher consciousness) and the “old guys” will be forced to put down their weights.
“What the Bleep Do We Know?” should be visited and revisited over and over this year because we actually know nothing, grab a proton and ride the wave.
