Terri Schiavo is no longer about Terri Schiavo. On a mundane level it has become the story of our own struggle over life and death and how much control we actually have and how much we will demand to have. Perfect for Saturn transiting the 8th house of the US Chart and Pluto inconjunct Mercury in the 8th house. We are now watching the people in the US scrambling to write living wills in order to maintain some kind of control over their death. The paper work is certainly a Mercury matter.
The greatest majority of the world's population has absolutely no choice over the issue of their death, they haven't the technology to keep people alive that the western world has, and the western world represents a minority of earth's people. Not only do they represent a minority but they seem to collectively possess the hubris to believe only the death of someone of European descent is important. Most countries don't even know what the flap is all about, they are simply trying to stay alive and the cost of keeping this one person on a feeding tube is mind boggling to them, because that money would support life for several communities in the majority of countries.
I wonder if there are living wills for Haiti or for China, India, Iraq, Iran, North Korea. How do people die there or do we care about that? If Terri would come out of her coma that might be a awesome omen for the people of the US to return from their "coma" since 9/11, but I do think there is a danger in the US that if we did return from the comatose state into which we have fallen this administration would have to come up with something else to keep us tied to the cloying fear that cloaks their true actions and their true agenda.
Neptune on the cusp of the US third house of mundane communications certainly explains the insipid coverage, after 15 years, of Terri's plight they seem to know what should be done. Certainly Joe Scarbourgh and Fox News seems to have figured out that Terri's doctors of 15 years don't know what they are talking about.
Mike, one of our regular posters, is so right about this situation striking at the very heart of the western world's fear of dying a painful prolonged death with everyone deciding or fighting over whether we should live or die, will it be the hospital, family, friend, court, the religious right, spiritual left, and now maybe even Congress.
The conservatives are trying to make political capital out of this and so are the liberals. I myself have been hopeful this will be the "tipping point" to awakening the nation of the danger this government has placed us. Tom Delay believes "God" put Terri's tragedy in the laps of the Repugs and Christian right as a gift to make their misguided and perverted case of supremacy. I heard someone say Terri's tragedy makes her a messanger to those against this administration (me included.) Both sides seem to believe a savior of "whoever" has been found in Terri.
I just sat this morning and thought about Terri and what she has experienced in the past 15 years, what she is experiencing right now and the reality is, I don't know and cannot possibly judge what should happen. I heard a ridiculous debate last night as to whether her "soul" is still there or not. I found that I didn't care who or what she came for, I only care that she is able to find peace because absolutely no one lives or dies in vain.
