January will be a very busy month for Dick Cheney astrologically; first, he has his Mars Return in the early morning of January 20th, then, he has his Inauguration chart later that same day, and then he has his Solar Return on January 30, 2005.
When you look at all his astrological aspects and portents, they paint a very compelling, somewhat dark and disturbing picture as to what is going on for the American version of Sauron, Tolkien’s master of Mordor.
Since the first chart to be unveiled is his Mars Return let us take a look at that. A Return Chart is in action until a new return comes into being. It is based on the exact moment of time the planet in question is at the same position it was at the moment of the subjects birth.
In the case of the Sun that’s a year, Mercury the same, Venus a little longer and Mars about 18 to 24 months, depending on how quickly the planet moves through the zodiac that particular cycle. Each Return Chart also deals exclusively with the qualities of the planet involved; Mercury the mind, Venus love (and money) and Mars action, initiative and accidents and illness. The Sun can and does encompass all the parts of the individual’s life, since it is the main focus of being if you will, and the Solar Return chart gives us the most information on the year ahead.
Looking at Sauron the Second’s Mars Return for the early morning of January 20, the first thing I see is that the ascendant is in the last degree of, who else, the sign ruled by the dark lord Pluto, Scorpio. Now this is interesting in itself because the last degree is the ending of a cycle and should be thought of as such. The rulers of the chart are both Mars and Pluto, since Mars ruled Scorpio until the early 1930’s when Pluto was discovered (coinciding with the rise of world-wide fascism).
Since this is a Mars Return the house Mars is placed in and the aspects it makes are of prime importance. Mars is conjoined to Pluto in the first house. Need I say more???? This is a chart Darth Vader would be proud of. Following up on the Scorpio motif to see if it is echoed throughout the chart, I find a great big yes to that question.
Scorpio rules both the 12th and 1st houses, since Sagittarius is intercepted. I can see that the 2nd house, the polar opposite of the 8th house, has a stellium of planets; namely, Venus, Mercury, Chiron and the Sun. The 8th house, Scorpios natural home, contains Saturn along with the Vertex, a fated position in a chart and the Part of Fortune, also a fated position, not a planet.
The 7th house is ruled by Venus since it is in Taurus, and conjunct the fixed star The Pleiades, the position of great grief in the heavens. Remembering that the 7th house rules partnerships, both personal and professional, and open enemies, I wonder how to attach the symbolism inherent in this sign? Grief for one’s enemies? One’s enemies causing grief? One’s enemies causing grief to one’s partner? Perhaps…. Perhaps.
One final note about Cheney’s Mars Return, the 7th house in the Mars Return chart is aligned to the 10th house of his natal chart, and the 4th house of the natal chart is brought to the ascendant of the Mars Return chart. A good way to determine the issues the individual experiencing the Return will deal with is by looking at the house brought to the ascendant of the Return.
In this case, the 4th could imply a change of residence, a return to the past, dealing with real estate or end of life. All are possibilities, including the death of one’s parents and one dealing with a retirement. It is simply a question of which one is the right interpretation, since each individual’s life will of course vary and so too will the way the energy is played out in that individual’s life. Nothing is set in stone. And we all have free will.
Next on to the Inauguration chart. This chart is basically the same as for Bush, give or take a few minutes. The Inauguration chart’s ascendant and midheaven and Sun stay the same year to year, but the Moon and other planet placements and aspects change. Cheney’s natal chart is impacted by the Inauguration chart in an interesting way. At first glance I see that Uranus is conjunct Cheney’s natal 7th house cusp and the 11th house is brought to that house from the Inauguration chart.
Of course the biggest news here is the fact that the Mars Return has taken place several hours earlier and is now linking Cheney’s natal 4th house to the 8th house of the Inauguration chart. Since the Mars/Mars link is so exact, there is in my opinion a direct tie-in to the Return chart and the Inauguration one. Time will tell.
Back from the Land of Mordor and on to Cheney’s Solar Return. When you look at a chart the first thing that catches your eye can become the most important in the forthcoming analysis. It is what stands out to you when you see the chart revealed for the first time. The first thing I noticed when I looked at this chart was the fact that the ascendant was in Pisces in the 28th degree and conjunct the fixed star Sheat. Now Sheat is the fixed star that denotes suicide or suicidal thoughts. It can also be correlated to murder and drowning. But it is a place of sorrow, a fixed place, and while it does not necessarily mean someone will commit suicide it does mean that person will be in a place of experiencing sorrowful thoughts and feelings; that is the accepted connotation. (And I have found it to be true).
The natal house brought to the ascendant in the Solar Return chart is of course the 8th house, reinforcing the Scorpion dark secrets, dark thoughts, dark deeds flow of the previous charts. Cheney’s natal Neptune is on the cusp of the 7th house of the Solar Return chart and the natal Moon in Pisces at 22 degrees is the rising planet, the planet that is closest to the ascendant in the Solar Return which can belong to either the solar or natal chart.
Water is involved here, and a lot of it. Remember water is not just the clear sparkling ocean water we see on TV commercials advertising the latest resort. It is also the murky swamp. The ruler of the Solar Return is Neptune and Neptune is conjunct Cheney’s Solar Return Sun in the 11th house of groups and associations and friends. Deception rules here, how and in what way, I can’t say; Cheney deceiving others, others deceiving Cheney, maybe Mr. Cloak and Dagger is having the wool pulled over his eyes in one way or another. That is certainly not unheard of in the double cross, triple cross, who knows who is doing what to who and for what purpose, world Mr. Richard Cheney inhabits.
With Solar Return Mars and Pluto conjoining the 10th house cusp of the Solar Return chart a possible change of career is in the works, or a possible leadership role, beyond what Cheney is now experiencing, is in the offering for him. Surely anger and aggression and determination and ruthlessness will play a role in his public life, career wise, and also in how the public views him.
My guess is that Dick Cheney may very possibly become President of the United States in the next 1-2 years or, conversely, leave the scene of politics and Washington DC altogether. He may go home to Nebraska and live off his Halliburton money or perhaps pass to another realm altogether, where he and the dark lord can chit chat on a one to one basis, up close and personal, as it where. I’m sure they will have a lot to say to each other, and can spend the time comparing notes. Who gathered the most chits, is debatable.
