The party of Jose Maria Aznar the Prime Minister, is headed into an election today
Aznar is to step down but his hand picked successor, Rajoy is in hopes of moving into the position of Prime Minister. It was their party who supported the US in going to war with Iraq. It matters a great deal whether Basque terrorists or Muslim terrorists planted those bombs. Spain’s Election on Sunday hangs in the balance. Al-Qaeda has claimed responsibility, if that is the case, the people of Spain could easily turn on Aznar for his US support.

There are 11 million people who have taken to the streets protesting the bombings and already, out of that 11 million, thousands of demonstrators have begun pointing a finger at the Aznar party and their support of Bush. If Aznar’s party loses because the people have decided that it was his involvement in Iraq that brought this upon them, a big piece of the “coalition of the willing” will drop away, further isolating the US and Bush. If his party wins, we too can look for terrorist activity here before the US Election with our freedom as the hostage. It’s vitally important for us that the people of Spain not succumb to the atmosphere of fear.

The Sun in the chart for the bombing (03/11/2004, 7:50 am, Madrid, Spain) is in the 12th house at 21 degrees Pisces, conjunct Aznar’s Mercury. I would say he knows more about this than he’s willing to say. His Mars is 13 Aries square Uranus at 14 Cancer. Saturn will reach those points this spring giving Aznar an unexpected jolt of truth.

This is a small representation of Saturn aspects, just through July of this year. In the fall all of the above have another go around with Saturn as their taskmaster.

The negative potential reactions to these Saturn aspects are daunting. Scandals for sure (but we are dependant on the lap-dog press to reveal them) on top of the scandals will be a series of missteps and a lack of understanding (not “getting it”) Doing and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, losing the trust of the people, losing trust in ourselves as a nation, awkwardness, a stiff and rigid presentation of self. Frustrated anger and action, loss of jobs or LOSS OF FREEDOMS. 9/11 families gaining headlines and demanding information, the report coming from the 9/11 Commission will not be believed or accepted. Afghanistan will become an issue again, a new spotlight thrown on the war there, (the original objective.)

When Osama is trotted out, the boost for Bush will be short lived as it becomes apparent that others have taken Osama’s place and Bush will be blamed for that (at least around the world) It doesn’t matter what happens to the “old” Al Qaeda, because there is already a new group taking their place. Mr. Bush’s “War on Terror” is a wretched failure.

If Jose Maria Aznar’s party is placed back in power, there will be severe restrictions of movement for the people of Spain and an omen of what Saturn’s aspects will mean for our own country. On Thursday Mars snuggled up to Algol, a mercenary and violent fixed star at 24 Taurus, and had just passed the conjunction to Spain’s South Node, delivering a Karmic payment. Both Mars and Algol made their home close to Spain’s 4th house cusp, opposing their natal Mercury. Spain will have to wait and see how long violence decides to reside on their foundation. The 4th house, ruled by Venus, with Saturn coming to a square to their Venus, the augury of boundaries along their borders as a distinct possibility, boundaries that keep no one out.

The Saturn aspects above are strictly for the Natal Charts, I didn’t add the progressed aspects to these charts but those only underscore the natal story. It is important to note that in the US chart, the Solar Arc Moon has progressed in opposition to our Sun and conjunct the US Saturn. My concern is, we as the people will accept further restrictions on our freedoms and less questioning of what is going on and who is responsible. I don’t mean Saddam or Osama, I mean those truly responsible.

We consistently point to the last time Saturn was conjunct the US Sun, when Richard Nixon resigned in disgrace, but there were other examples in the past 100 years of Saturn conjunct the Sun. May 1916, the US invaded the Dominican Republic to quell a rebellion and civil disorder. In 1945 the first of the Nuremberg Trials began (that’s hopeful) the final push to capture (successfully) Germany, and the dropping of the Atom Bomb, I might add it was dropped in spite of McArthur and Eisenhower’s objections.

The last two incidents (no matter the reason) were successful thrusts by the US to control others, as was 1916. The Nixon resignation was a failed attempt by the Republican Party and Nixon to “control” the right of the Presidency to do whatever it wanted.

In 1916 the Solar Arc Moon was conjunct the US Sun, the people accepted the invasion of the Dominican Republic even though they were on verge of entering the unpopular WWI. In 1945 Solar Arc Pluto was conjunct the US Sun and square US Saturn, the people’s interest was in exercising our power and we did.

An interesting footnote to 1916 is Woodrow Wilson campaigned for his second term as “the President who kept us out of war.” George Bush, in 2004 will be campaigning as “the President who got us into war.” World War I was started when transiting Saturn was opposing the US Pluto from Cancer to Capricorn.

I cannot say often enough or emphatically enough, what happens to Jose Aznar’s political party, what happens to Blair, what happens to Sharon will tell you what we can look forward to with Saturn kissin’ our Sun.
