Recently I did a radio interview where I was asked my opinions about the astrological climate in the year to come. I thought I would just reiterate what I said for the members of Astroworld and get their opinions on my theories, which of course are open to interpretation.
First off, I did a chart for the United States of America. I use the Sagittarius Ascendant since I believe it is most likely that the document that dates our incarnation as a nation, namely the Declaration of Independence, was more likely to have been signed at 5:10 in the afternoon than at 2:00 in the morning. Therefore that is the chart date and time I use. Also the September 11th terrorist attack on the U.S., using Sag Rising, would put transiting Pluto on the U.S. ascendant during that time. A form of rectification to use in any chart analysis is what are the astrological signatures when a major event in the individual’s life took place.
Using the Sag Rising chart I can then determine where the transits will be on November 2, 2004. I can also do a Solar Return of the nation on its birth date. A Solar Return is the once yearly method of prediction discerning what the aspects will be for the year to come for an individual or event.
In the transit chart for the November 2, 2004 election, I can see that Venus, Jupiter and Mars are all in the 10th house. The Moon is at 4 degrees of Cancer to start off with. Since the polls open in New Hampshire at Midnight, I think we can go with that degree, which makes the transiting Moon conjunct the U.S. Jupiter at 5 degrees. That aspect gives me hope right off; that Jupiter, the planet of all good things, is conjunct with the Moon, which is the symbol of the public in a Mundane Chart. The general public will be going to the polls in a very hopeful frame of mind that day, with the conviction that they can and will do something positive for both themselves and their country. Transiting Jupiter in the 10th reinforces this idea.
Before I do the Solar Return for the year, I would like to take a look at two charts, one for George Bush and one for John Kerry. Astrology in my belief is simply a road map demonstrating astrologically who the person in question is or what the event in question is about. We all have free will and how we express our birth aspects is and always will be up to us as individuals.
First George Bush. I know he’s been talked about ad nausea, but as a refresher course, his planets in his natal chart are all on the left side and mostly below the horizon, demonstrating what a close to the vest, introverted person he is. His Sun is in the 12th house, again demonstrating the inability to really get to know him or what he is ever really thinking. Deception of course plays a part in anybody’s Sun being in the 12th either as victim or as offender.
Now on to his transits on Election Day. A great astrologer, Grant Lewi, once said that where transiting Saturn falls in your chart is how you can determine your ascent or descent in the world. As Saturn reaches the 10th house you are at your pinnacle of fame and when it reaches the 4th house, the nadir of the chart, you are at your most obscure. George Bush’s Saturn will be a few months away from crossing his Leo Ascendant on Election Day and will already have mated with his natal Saturn for his Saturn/Saturn conjunction.
Since it seems George Bush’s Saturn is sinking fast and since the Sun and the majority of the transiting planets are at the bottom of his chart in the 3rd and 4th houses, I am going to predict that George Bush is not going to emerge the winner on election day.
Now to look at John Kerry. Kerry is a double Sag and his Moon is in Gemini. Most of his planets are on the right hand side of the chart and above the horizon, starting with the 7th house. Right off I see that he is more open and engaging than George Bush could ever be. Kerry’s Jupiter is at 27 degrees of Leo in the 9th house and since his 10th house is off to the side in the Placidus chart I use, Jupiter is the most elevated planet in his chart. It is also conjunct the fixed star Regulas, the king star, and opposite the Moon in the U.S. chart. Successful candidates must have aspects to the U.S. chart and Kerry does. It is also true that the potential has to be there in the birth chart. Kerry does have the potential to rise to great heights in his chart.
As for transits to Kerry’s chart on Election Day, Saturn is in the 8th house coming to the 10th house which it will conjunct in several years. He has transiting Venus, Jupiter and Ceres in his 10th house Election Day. Kerry‘s 10th house is ruled by Mercury, which is natally at 5 degrees of Capricorn, placing it opposite the transiting Election Day Moon and opposite the U.S. chart’s Jupiter. Another good tie in to both the Election Day transits and U.S. natal chart. Therefore I predict that John Kerry will win the election.
Now on to the Solar Return for the U.S. This chart has Capricorn Rising, showing the conservative bent that is going to be felt for this year. On a more positive note, the SR Moon is in Aquarius. That would seem to combat the conservative rising, since Aquarius Moon is known for its tolerance and embracement of all people, places and things. So there will be a cross current wind that is blowing. The SR Sun is on the descendant, so most of the nation will be experiencing a positive sense of themselves and their country. This could certainly be brought about by a new president and administration!
The Sun is conjunct Saturn so the problems the country faces will be serious and need a lot of care and thought to be worked out. But the Moon is conjunct Neptune, so perhaps an overly idealistic, even escapist view will permeate the population at this time. That may be all to the good, if it makes people more willing to pitch in and work towards their goals and fight for the things they want the country to accomplish. The 10th house is ruled by Pluto which is sextile the Moon. Again that tells me the people are okay with the administration and the president. That bespeaks of a regime change!
The only thing that is worrisome to me is the ongoing transiting Pluto/Mars opposition in the U.S. chart. This could mean more violence on our shores. It could also mean a lot of power struggles going on in our country or with other countries and I certainly hope the Pluto/Mars opposition works itself out non-violently.
Based on all the above I think the way is clear for Bush and cronies to be leaving office. Hallelujah I say!
