THE BATTLE OF THE BEES

THE BATTLE OF THE BEES

Bush, Blair and the BBC

WHOOO ARE YOU? Said the Caterpillar (Alice in Wonderland – Lewis Carroll)

It is a mistake to look too far ahead. Only one link in the chain of destiny can be handled at a time. (Winston Churchill)

For those of you who do not know, there is a raging battle being fought between the BBC and Number 10 Downing Street. The cast of characters is long, and some of the names you may know. Jack Straw (foreign secretary) Greg Dyke (director general of the BBC) Richard Sambrook (BBC’s director of news) Andrew Gilligan (news reporter for BBC) an unnamed high government security official, a board of BBC Governors, the House of Commons foreign affairs select committee, Blair, England’s very own Karl Rove by the name of Alastair Campbell, and the never named shadow Bush,

The row started over a story by Andrew Gilligan, in which he stated that he had it on good authority that the War Dossier was “sexed up” by Blair’s Communications Director, Alastair Campbell, to make a case for war with Iraq. “Sexed up” in England means, “changed,” “added to” “exaggerated.” The government by way of Campbell and Blair hit the roof and demanded the independent of government interference or anyone’s interference, BBC retract. They would not. The news director, Richard Sambrook, the general director, Greg Dyke, and the Board of Governors, flatly stated that they stood by the story, they had a right to publish it, and Blair and Campbell were trying to divert attention away from the hard questions regarding what is now called “the dodgy war dossier.”

Well, let me tell you, Blair (b. 05/06/53 at 6:10am in Edinburgh, Scotland) and Alastair Campbell (b. 05/25/57 noon chart in London) stormed for days demanding an apology, accusing the BBC (b. 11/11/22 noon chart in London) of issuing the most inflammatory thing that could be said about a Prime Minister and they were going to the House of Commons to have them censure the BBC and clear their name. The BBC would not, has not, and will not stand down. So, off they went to the House of Commons and the “select committee on foreign affairs.”

Now it’s getting worse and involving “the shadow” of GWB. The “select committee” said they didn’t have enough information to know whether Alastair was guilty of “sexing up” the document or not, so they would clear him of that. However, they also said that an unelected official had no business in secret foreign affairs committees and he needed to stop going to them. But the big blow came when the “select committee” said they needed more information from Blair and they had four specific questions he needed to answer to avoid them coming to the conclusion that this was a “phony war.”

As a theater director would say, “the stage is set, and the curtain goes up.” (pay attention George, Karl and Congress)

These are the questions that the Lords in the House of Commons select foreign committee say “MUST BE ANSWERED.” Oddly enough these are some of the same questions we want answered here in the states.

What is the current state of Iraq’s missile infrastructure?

Is the September dossier’s verdict on Iraq’s chemical and biological weapons threat valid?

What is the current assessment of the dossier’s warnings on Samoud 2 missiles and its claim that Iraq had 20 unaccounted for Hussein missiles?

When was Jack Straw, foreign secretary, told that documents claiming Iraq had sought uranium from Niger were forged?

Is the “45 minute” claim accurate in the light of the subsequent war when weapons of mass destruction were not used?

In addition, they want an independent inquiry, they want Blair to apologize to the country for “misleading” them, even if it proves to be inadvertent, Campbell is not to be on committees concerning intelligence matters, Blair’s presentation of the dossier “made a bad situation worse,” and from now on the committee wants access to intelligence papers and personnel.

And as a last punch the final decision will be made depending upon what the 300 members of the Iraq Survey Group turn up in their search for WMD’s.

What does this have to do with us? Plenty! Pluto in the BBC chart of Nov. 11, 1922, conjuncts the US and GWB’s Sun in Cancer, their Saturn sits atop the US Saturn, bringing GWB’s karma closer to him, as well as ours. Their Mars squares GWB’s Asc. and Mercury, infuriating Bush with the information they find and report. Their Uranus opposes GWB’s Mars and is squared by their Venus, also aspects America’s Uranus. The information reported by the BBC as it comes out of the House of Commons will anger GWB and shock the United States, changing Britain’s attitude toward George Bush and the United States, making further pre-emptive strikes with the Brits next to impossible, as volatile Mars sets off the whole process this summer and fall.

How would America feel to “lose” Britain? Would we then start to question George’s foreign policy? How will they feel when they see Blair taking a fall for lying because he cannot answer the questions. This little "row" between Blair and the BBC is going to bring down the Bush Presidency, with their Pluto sitting on GWB's Sun and Saturn soon to conjunct it all will be the downfall of the Bush administration.

Another problem the two B's share is their Suns in the 12th house. There is always the spector of detention, unless they are working on what the Hindus call "Moksha" a high level of spiritual liberation. Their own spirit, not ours.

When Mr. Blair looks toward Washington and his “friends” to help him he will only find echoes of his “old friend George,” as Saturn erodes further friendship. In 2004 Saturn will set off the square in Blair’s chart of his Venus/Uranus and both aspect GWB’s Sun/Moon square. One of the things Blair fears most is abandonment that is what he will get from the US.

As for Alastair Campbell, he has tied his fortunes to Mr. Blair as his Sun conjuncts Blair’s Mars. Campbell’s Mars conjuncts GWB’s Sun and Blair’s Uranus at 13 degrees of Cancer and they all square GWB’s Moon and Blair’s Venus, not good aspects for “going down in history.” Like George, Tony has his Sun in the 12th house indicating he and George become an odd footnote in history.

The best thing about this drama, has it been the BBC who has spread Blair’s problems in big splashy, day after day columns? No. The BBC has been what it’s always been understated, reporting both sides of the story. Instead it’s been the unabashedly liberal newspaper “The Guardian” who has demanded answers, laid out the lies and inconsistencies of stories, shown the pictures of the dead and maimed in Iraq, keeps asking about the oil, the Carlyle Group, the Bechtel Group, on and on. The Guardian is also an independent paper, paid for by a trust fund to provide “honest news for the people.” They aren’t dependent upon advertisers, big business or government. The Guardian has leapt in popularity in the UK and is known for its accurate reporting and telling the truth. The Guardian is “coming to America,” before the elections.

We must all be sure to support them and let them know how happy we are to have them here. http://nymetro.com/nymetro/news/media/columns/medialife/n_8938/
