Starcats' Commentary

Ambitious and authoritarian Rove is a conservative reformer and iconoclast with Sun opposite Uranus in T-square to "master of the universe" Saturn.

Sun square Saturn shows the high possibility of estrangement in his relationship with his father; hypersensitivity to real or imagined slights; and a tendency towards being a loner. In "Bush's Brain" (see link to Amazon.com below), Rove demonstrates a devotion to George Bush that borders on a victorian style closeted homosexual brand of hero worship.

I feel perfectly justified stating the foregoing in relation to Rove. After all, one of his chief political strategies is the famous "whisper campaign." So turn-about is fair play. And I'm not the first to come up with this idea. Knowing how homophobic the right wing tends to be, I must confess to a rather perverse enjoyment of casting Rove's Sun square Saturn in this light. As you will note further on in today's Newsmakers, Rove's chart is inextricably bound up with Bush's and the USA's. There is some substance to the claim.

When Rove worked to elect Bush govenor of Texas, he organized an extensive telephone rumor mill to spread unfounded gossip about then Gov. Ann Richards. The slurs alleged were that a majority of Gov. Richards' female appointees were "lesbians who wanted to take over the state of Texas." This, naturally, terrified the dueling banjo and trailer trash types in the Lonestar State, hence, discrediting Ann Richards and setting the stage for a George W. Bush roll-back of social progress Gov. Richards had spent her political career developing.

The destructive rumor campaign is a Karl Rove signature ploy. It was the brain-child of Machiavellian GOP campaigner Lee Atwater (now deceased), a drunkard and madman who trained Rove in Nazi-esque brownshirt election tactics. Machiavelli is often mentioned in the same sentence as the name Karl Rove for this reason: "The Prince" is his favorite book. Rove himself states that he re-reads it at least once every year.

With Sun square Saturn, Rove reveals a grave insecurity and thin-skinned knee jerk reactions when it comes to the fact that he did not graduate from college. In "Bush's Brain," there are several references throughout which call attention to Rove's deep-seated sense of inferority in regards to his lack of an ivy-league pedigree, something he often overcompensates for by declaring war on his neighbors for such infractions as leaves from a leaf blower accidently winding up on his front lawn. In fact, he and a neighbor nearly came to blows over where property lines ended. Rove ripped out flowers his neighbor had planted!

Rove is Bush's gray eminence, the shadow Bush can't shake. Because Rove's Moon is tightly knit with Bush's Sun and Saturn, the USA's Sun and Saturn Square, and the USA's Mercury and Pluto, we have an enmeshment, or forging of bonds (Saturn) that are long in duration and highly difficult to sever. When Saturn is involved, one or both people carry each other's shadow characteristics and share a common "karma," or double payback loop where one's fate is continuously linked to the other's.

Bush has often chastized Rove for overstepping bounds. Since Rove's dream was the be the power behind the scenes in the White House (he stated this dream in his early adolescence) the most perfect match for this shy, retiring, yet overly ambitious and nonprincipled man could be no other than an equally nonprincipled man, George W. Bush.

The proximity of the Moon to Bush's wide Sun-Saturn conjunction in 12th house is the theme song: "Me and my shadow."

Rove has low fire in his chart. Only Chiron associated with spoilage, wounds, damage and life's unfairness sits in mutable Sagittarius, the sign associated with politics, law, religion, higher education and expansion of the spirit.

Rove's Neptune in Libra in square to Venus and Mercury shows a strong penchant towards spin and deception. Neptune in Libra for Rove's is the blindness of "the ends justify the means." Rove "believes" (Neptune) that his exalted Saturn-in-Libra connection annoints him as arbiter of universal Justice, and Justice is one-world remade through the reforms (Uranus square Saturn opposite Sun) he envisions through his universalist Neptune.

Saturn in Cancer

September 19, 2003, Saturn 12-13 Cancer, conjunct Bush's Sun, USA's Sun and square to USA Saturn. It will have crossed over Rove's natal Uranus at 5 Cancer, in conjunction with the USA's Venus-Jupiter conjunction, crushing any further hope of boosting the economy and remaining unkind to Rove-Bush vis a vis public popularity. If Rove was born around midnight on December 25th, his natal Moon would be at 12 Cancer, thus, by this September, his Moon becomes "depressed" under Saturn's crushing weight. Since Bush and Rove are karmically tied via Saturn, Sun and Moon, this may begin to spell the end of Karl Rove's luck.

If Rove was born as late as 11:59 pm December 25th, then his natal Moon is at 24 Cancer, which is clearly in conjunction with Bush's natal Saturn, conjunct USA Mercury and in opposition to USA Pluto. T-Saturn will hit the aforementioned points starting September 7, 2004, and last through Election 2004, amidst Bush's second Saturn Return. Because an encounter with Saturn to critical points such as one's Sun, Moon, or at the juncture of a Saturn Return means reaping the harvest, we can expect that even if Bush were elected in 2004 (he wasn't elected in 2000, according to my understanding of the issue), the Saturn-Bush-Rove connection spells a dark, gloomy outcome for all the hype, lies and Machiavellian manipulations.

Weapons of Mass Distraction

This summer's soap operas: Martha Stewart. Scott Peterson. Hillary Clinton but only briefly for the New York State Senator and wife of former President Bill Clinton. Anything. annnyyyyttthhhiiing to distract American's from the most egregious story of at least a generation: George Bush (Karl Rove), Tony Blair and Colin Powell's cynical and diabolical manipulation of the American people for mid-term election votes by parading the need to invade Iraq.

Iraq was also a tip of the hat to the Pentagon Neocons such as Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz who have been trying to sell a second Iraq war wholesale to the U.S. government. Now that the Bush administration has control over all three branches of government, there are no longer any checks and balances upon the most fanatic holding public office. It's Jesus meets Mohammed with an "assist" from Ariel Sharon and Yahweh. Not to forget that, as Wolfowitz says, Iraq is "swimming in a sea of oil."

What troubles me is Bush's August 2003 retreat to the Crawford Ranch. What happens to the American people (who don't seem to give a fig) after one of Bush's "vacations" is so disturbing and so diastrous that I am cringing at the thought of what he and Rove might cook up for September 2003.

Since rumor has it that Chief Justice Rehnquist might retire from the U.S. Supreme Court, the bait and switch planning behind the scenes towards securing the highest court in the land as a right wing conservative bastion alongside additional conservative federal court judgeships has me contemplating throwing myself on the mercy of Vicente Fox in hopes of political asylum and better job prospects in fucking Mexico. Hordes of us may have to crash the borders in hopes of economic relief, because it is growing clearer by the day that the upper 1% of the American population and the U.S. military is now in possession of the nation's wealth. The rest of us are forced to pay for this horrifying redistribution/social welfare to the rich via our income taxes and grave reductions in our medical, pension, and social security options.

What does this have to do with Karl Rove? The closer transiting Saturn comes to his Moon, Bush's Sun, the USA's blah, blah, blah, the more dry, brittle, cold, cheap, thin-skinned, and emotionally childish both Rove and Bush and the administration will become.

Saturn and Moon are about structuring reactions; emotional content; emotional empathy. Saturn and Sun-Moon is about emotional maturity. The fact is, neither Bush nor Rove are emotionally mature and their conduct so often proves it. This is not to say that millions of Americans can't be described as emotionally immature in some manner or other. But the unwashed masses aren't in high governmental office where cooler, more objective and rational appraisals of what will benefit the commonweal are expected. And since the Republican Party's Sun is at 14 Cancer (!!!), (and squares the USA's Saturn!!!) and will shortly receive the conjunction from T-Saturn, I expect an escalation in whining, pissing and moaning out of conservatives.

Rove's progressed Venus at 19 Pisces is conjunct his progressed North Node and Progressed Mars. The aforementioned makes a double quincunx to Rove's natal and progressed Neptune and Pluto. This configuration is known as a YOD, or finger of God or finger of Fate which flows out Venus, North Node and Mars. This squares Bush's Inauguration Moon at 19 Sagittarius. Rove's progressed Jupiter at 14 Pisces squares Bush's Inauguration Pluto. The Universalist Piscean themes for Rove, or his utopia, is a right wing world attached to a savage Plutonic manipulation and management of images not unlike Leni Reifenstahl's "Triump of the Will," the famous Nazi Germany propaganda film. (See 14 Characteristics of Fascism in footnotes below).

The Universalist and utopian themes are under dynamic pressure for expression, management and control where the press is concerned through Rove's progressed Gemini (the sign of Media) Moon. Whereas we don't know what degree his progressed Moon is currently transiting, we do know that it has an easy trine-to-the-lie Neptune in his natal Chart; is square to the Pisces progressed planets/nodes set up, which, at some point along the way, connects his popularity contest (polls and polling) progressed Moon to the YOD or finger of God double quincunx. It also opposes his natal Chiron of wounds (and Bush Inauguration Chiron is 24 Sagittarius, signaling Rove's Chiron Return at age 50) and was linked up to the three Saturn-Pluto oppositions connected to September 11th, the war in Afghanistan and the war in Iraq.

Rove's progressed Sun is 26 Aquarius, conjunct the USA's Moon and its progressed Sun. Uranus will retrograde back to 28 Aquarius and will make one more connecting point to a core position in the USA's chart -- the people (Moon) and the Press (3rd house issue). Since Uranus is the most important of the planets in mundane astrology signaling reform (whether we like who or what the reform is all about) and iconoclasm, we might want to go back to 2002 and have a look at the issues left undone in lieu of an invasion of Iraq.

Uranus' last bite at the USA's Moon (the people) could well signal (along with Rehnquist's retirement from the Supreme Court and appointment of another right wing justice) the death nell for the last 30 to 40 years of progressive in-roads into racial and sex equality; a reversion back to 19th century draconic governance of the workplace thus a loss of rights for workers nationwide; a loss of medicare rights; a further drain on social security and unwanted privitization; unforeseen cataclysmic changes in airlines and transportation security issues; a railroading of Michael Powell's FCC rulings allowing Rupert Murdock to own every media outlet and turn it into Fox News; another shake-up in the Democratic Party, as Uranus at 28 Aquarius squares the Democratic Party Mercury on Caput Algol (who gets axed out of 2004's race? -- Probably Lieberman. His Uranus is 26 Taurus).

Along with death to the environment, an issue that Ann Coulter calls a "Druid religion" (frankly, I'm up for that. Meet me at Stonehenge. I'd love it), Saturn and Uranus in 2003 don't make Bush nor Rove any kinder, gentler, and certainly no more honest. As the U.S. media continues to dance around the most egregious of High Crimes and Misdemeanors, Bush's lies in connection to Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, faithful Starcats readers call their own sanity into question.

Don't.

14 Characteristics of Fascism:

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases of "need." 6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes the media are directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media are indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments is fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship with the power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated, or they are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses, and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associated who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
