For those of you not familiar with the 1975 movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” staring Jack Nicholson, let me share a brief synopsis. The scene was a mental institution and as the story unfolded, it became quite evident that the people who were truly mentally ill were those running the institution. You can find a similar problem in our government, corporate leaders, and religious guides of today. We have given our power over to “Nurse Ratched.” It’s a new year, we can take our power back in 2003.
2003 is about to burst upon us so let’s wrap up 2002 with a quick recap (the short list) since we last sang Auld Lang Syne:
1.The Axis of Evil was identified and now almost all the world hates us.
2.We are about to abolish the Monroe Doctrine, which basically says “you don’t go after us and we won’t go after you, but we will protect our neighbors and our borders.” Now we have the Bush Doctrine on board, which says we will go after anyone whenever we want for whatever reason, we decide. Now we are not only hated we are feared, and countries are reviewing their own doctrines of pre-emptive strikes against us.
3.While our President entertains people (with our tax dollars) known to have given money to terrorists, the Justice Department and INS are rounding up tax paying law abiding residents of the United States for indefinite periods of time until a secret court can be arranged to either arrest them or deport them, tearing their families apart.
4.We are about to go to war with a country that might, maybe, use to, have vague weapons of mass destruction (which we gave them over 20 years ago) while letting a country we know have weapons of mass destruction and are threatening to use them against us go unchallenged.
5.Crime is up, Civil Liberties way down. Osama Bin Laden is still vacationing in parts unknown, and we no longer discuss the Anthrax Killer who may actually work for our government.
6.Millions of people have lost their 401(k) and retirement, and we know who stole it from them but those particularly thieves are still building mansions with occasional trips to the courts, just so we won’t get upset.
7.The Republicans now control the entire government with no checks or balances, a new guy was appointed to the FDA Commission who believes in prescribing bible verses for female problems, and a new Majority Leader who kills cats to replace the old Majority Leader who was the poster boy for racism.
8. Christmas 2002 retail sales hit a 30-year low, and the “Grinch” White House refused to extend unemployment benefits through the holidays. Our own Ari Fleischer basically said, “Let them eat cake.”
And so the old year ends.
Astrologers everywhere, including myself are in a frenzy to get the 2003 “bad news” out as fast as we can, defining the good guys and bad guys, to be the “first” in predictive accuracy, connecting as many dots as we can hold in our head but the only two big dots in the sky right now are 19 degrees mutable and 27/28 degrees cardinal. The cast of characters is on stage ready for their queue and the Universe is poised to serve them up.
The curtain will go up on 2003 first revealing the messenger of the Gods, Mercury. His feet are firmly planted stationary retrograde on the United States Pluto at 27/28 degrees of Capricorn, opposing GWB’s Saturn at 27 degrees of Cancer. The implications of this Mercury Retrograde are chilling.
As Claudia Dikinis of Starcats Astrology 2003: Starcats' Table of Contents a renowned Astrologer, known for the accuracy of her research and predictions points out, this Mercury falls across the Gulf War I Axis. The United States lost a ton of money on that war and the economy went south. That’s why George Bush, Sr. lost the 1992 election.
Today’s Mercury is telling us the same thing is about to happen to this generation, we are being given the opportunity to repeat history and do something different. The US Pluto and transiting Mercury are Conjunct at the start of the New Year, both opposing Saddam’s Pluto which Conjuncts GWB’s 12th house Saturn. This isn’t going to be pretty or nice, it won’t be his father’s little war.
Thanks to another brilliant astrologer, Carole Hemingway of the Acker-Hemingway News Letter, the sleeping giant the US awakened in Kim Jong is going to have serious repercussions. Ms. Hemingway pointed out that Mr. Jong’s Sun in square to his Uranus (February 16, 1942) is under a stress aspect from Uranus and he is not going to back down. He’s a nasty belligerent snake.
Our own Sec. Of Defense Donald Rumsfield’s (07/09/1932 5:40 pm, Chicago) bullying remarks of “we can fight two wars at the same time” didn’t scare or back off the “bully” in North Korea, and when Saturn hits his Venus/Moon square this summer, Mr. Rumsfield is going to experience an “oh jeeze” moment. Our concept foreign policy these days is based on the “might makes right” attitude. That type of rhetoric may play well in Texas, but not on the world stage.
The rest of the world understands they are trapped by a handful of swaggering incompetents passing as leaders and it is going to get a bunch of innocent people killed including us. They aren’t playing with toy soldiers or a super Nintendo game but real live people.
The administration will wish to God they had never started this thing, but it isn’t too late for the people to demand an end to this dangerous game. Our present administration wants a war, a big war, they couldn’t make it happen with Russia in the 80’s, Gulf War I wasn’t big enough for them, so now they figure this is their chance. The Bush family and friends get rich off of wars, the rest of us get poor and dead.
The next star to follow is 19 degrees Gemini/Sagittarius, this degree is going to be a little like the game “hot potato” I will try to keep a score card by listing all that’s happening with that degree. 2003 New Year Chart – Pluto 18 degree Sagittarius conjuncting the Moon at 19 Sagittarius. Inauguration Chart – Moon in the 8th house at 19 degrees Sagittarius, squaring progressed Venus at 19 Pisces. America – Progressed Moon 18/19 Sagittarius. The people have the power on their side with Pluto, we CAN make a difference.
Under George W. Bush: Uranus 19 Gemini, Progressed Midheaven 19 Gemini, North Node 19 Gemini, 19 Sagittarius South Node (Karma), Draconic Mars 19 Gemini (ruler of natal midheaven, and another point of soul’s Karma)
Thrown onto the Universal playing field are two fixed stars feeding lines to the major groups. At 19 degree Gemini is Bellatrix, of the Constellation Orion. This sits on George Bush’s Uranus, North Node, and Progressed Midheaven. Bellatrix is known for conferring great civil or even military honor, but grave danger of sudden dishonor and ruin. And when connected to Uranus there can be mental instability and miscalculations plus a refusal to learn from one’s mistakes.
At the opposite end is a little known star Atria in the Southern Triangle. There are no myths linked to this star because the ancients couldn’t observe it from the northern hemisphere. This star was given the title of the Three Patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It’s a star known for extracting justice, truthfulness and righteous. This star is supporting the New Year Sagittarius Moon at 19 degree representing the people; Atria also conjuncts GWB’s South Node. Can, or will, he pull up from his depths what he knows to be right, or will Pluto fling the Three Patriarchs at him to answer their questions.
What does all this mean? Gemini’s notoriously love to talk, with unintended statements spilling out creating unintended consequences. Within the next two months we will have information and secrets revealed that would show us what we are up against and pointing to the next scandal. What happens over the next two months will be the catalyst to changing the people’s response to their government and perhaps their country forever.
Mr. Bush’s Uranus seems to continually embarrass him in unexpected ways, and transiting Uranus is giving a little boost to those embarrassments with an inconjunct to his 12th house Saturn. When Mars squared it in January 2002, Enron and his good friend Ken Lay unraveled. When Saturn was in a conjunction to it, Enron and Harken’s bed sheets were found in the White House and all over the energy policy. Saturn didn’t retrograde back over that point so the issue was not resolved. Pluto will resolve those issues and more as it transits back and forth, going stationary retrograde on 19 degrees of Sagittarius until the end of May 2003, leaving him with multiple opportunities to clean up the mess until August 2004. One of Mr. Bush’s strongest karmic points is the 19 Gemini/Sagittarius axis and Pluto always extracts what is due.
Scandals have a way of finding Mr. Bush and a way of being deflected. The obfuscating energy of Neptune will be opposing Pluto and could leave him exposed; Jupiter will help for a while, but not for long, leaving a “burst bubble” in her wake. This is a scandal involving friends, money, family, and a stunning misuse of power. After the initial suppression of information in January/February, the potential of it becoming full blown in the spring is high. By May 21st the administration will know and understand the seriousness of the crime. The Presidency will hang on this complicated and far-reaching disgrace, creating a further split between the populace and the government, bringing dishonor to the office. Pluto ensures there will be a resolution, unlike the Enron and Harken scandals. This administration will be forced to deal with this until Aug. 2004. Remember Watergate and the lengthy process before the final judgment. The initial break-in of Watergate started on a Pluto transit to Nixon’s chart and finished just as Pluto transited over his Libra South Node.
The progressed 2001 Inaugural Chart is a riot of difficult energies awaiting this Administration, and awaiting us. The Senate plays heavily into that chart and will have a big impact this year, at times wresting power from the Executive Branch. The “Uniter not Divider” President will find he has opened some fairly dramatic divisions within his own party because of the “siege” mentality of his administration. There are cities and towns taking steps to protect its citizens from the Patriots Act plus sending Anti-War Resolutions to Washington. This administration does not have the absolute support of this country to do whatever they want, and it’s beginning to show. The Moon conjunct Pluto in the New Year Chart indicates the power will be with the people. The media will have to step up to more honest and open reporting before the end of 2003, their own anger and disgust will propel them aggressively forward.
Just in the last week it’s been reported that the EPA was on the verge of reporting the danger to Americans from Asbestos and the White House put the report on the shelf. Boston Globe Online / Nation | World / White House hushed up asbestos peril affecting millions. One by one, these types of reports will be made known and one of them will capture the attention of the public, shocking us out of our apathy and into our rightful place-- as the Employers of these men who have misused our trust.
Looking straight at the Inaugural Chart of 2001 and the New Year Chart of 2003, the power of the people is about to be felt, and strangely enough, it could be the erratic behavior of GWB with his natal Uranus and progressed midheaven at 19 degrees Gemini opposing the Inaugural Moon, and transiting Pluto aspecting them both. Often times Pluto opposite Uranus can mean a change in career direction. The people in the United States might suggest that option to Mr. Bush, but it won’t be this year. Mr. Bush must make a deep profound change this year, he has the opportunities to do so, and his lessons as a President of all the people are just now beginning.
