Pop Goes The Weasel

August 1st, 2002
Sally Cheyne McDonald

Uranus is a planet that could be described as “chaos awaits.” Uranus loves to create havoc, shake up the status quo, force changes because where Uranus lurks in a chart waiting to pounce and behold, “nothing is as I would wish it to be.” What new order will come from this chaos swirling around the U.S? We can guess what Uranus might do while conjuncting the United States natal Moon and Progressed U.S. Sun, but Uranus is the “weasel” who goes “pop” at the most unexpected times and in the most unexpected ways. Right now that one and only “smoke and mirrors” planet, Neptune has transited into a trine with the natal U.S. Uranus, obfuscating the possible oncoming “pop” from the “shake em up planet.”

Let’s take our turn at guessing what that shake up might be. It will for sure be a tremble or a quake of we the people because Uranus hits our Moon at 27 degrees of Aquarius, and our Progressed Sun at the same degree, both now reside in the Progressed 7th house of partners and open enemies, making the Sun the ruler of the Progressed 1st house of our selves. This raises some interesting questions. Are we our own enemy, or do we the people partner together to become the enemy of Leo excesses within America? What are the excesses and qualities of an out of balance Leo Ascendant? We are seeing them in front of us now. Abuses of power, might makes right, boastful, greed, vanity, cruel, pretentious and autocratic. With Uranus in the opposite sign of Aquarius, we the people could snap those excesses back into line real fast.

In the U.S. Natal Chart, Aquarius rules the 3rd House. The 3rd house covers, among other things, communication, technology, K through 12. With Aquarius here, we want all of our children educated, not just the elite, we want a working technology and honest communications with the people. We can get those things now if we demand them. Uranus will wake us up to the plight of humanity, not just our own, but the whole world. We have a desire to be friends with the world, Uranus could show us we haven’t been tending our friendships very well and are on the verge of losing them. Uranus wants Justice for All and will work to break up selfishness and unfair practices toward the people. There is also a chaotic spotlight shinning on the polar opposite of the 3rd that is the 9th house of big business, judicial system, higher education (how much is collage these days and who is keeping the books) publishing (shocking new revelations coming out of 3rd house research) religion (who has the right to speak for God, and did God give them that right) foreigners (who do we trust, most importantly, who trusts us) public opinion in general, and a big one - ethics including moral values, moral codes, (is it ethical to steal the public blind and take the attitude of “let them eat cake,” and will the public continue to say to the CEO’s who stole, “is this whole crumb of my life all for me?) With Uranus here chances are Leo excesses aren’t going to be tolerated. A probable reaction is that the public will eventually take to demonstrations against those who are feeding at the trough at our expense. The 9th House also rules the higher mind, the better part of us, our dreams and ideals. The better part of us is changing and growing, not without turmoil and a possible recommitment to the revolutionary ideals of the men who carved out America.

We aren’t facing these changes in the future; these changes are here now and will continue right on through 2003 and 2004. From August to the end of our summer and beyond, there will be a feeling of unrest, irritableness, disinterest, disconnectedness, frustration, and repressed anger. You may feel it’s your job, or kids or significant other, or neighbors, or parents creating your problems, but it is not. We are all feeling the collective rumbling of change. The drums are rolling and every man, woman, and child will feel beating of that drum.
