NEW THREAD
There is a wind blowing tonight. One of those gentle, fall is in the air, winds. A change, a shift. And tonight there is a lull for some. Tomorrow the world's fireworks begins. In watching MSM Cable last week and this one gets the feeling of Rip Van Winkle awakening, or maybe it's more apt to say "taking off the gloves." I loved the post on the last thread that said "Fox News ratings were falling," so something is happening. After Labor Day the onslaught of political ads begin heating up and the knives are already out of the sleeves and being sharpened. I am listing the astro data on a few key states in this election, and if I've missed your favorite state just leave me a post and I will add. Arizona 02/14/1912 8:00am Phoenix

Ok, you've had enough time, his natal Saturn is at 17 Leo and Saturn and Neptune are dueling it out right on his 2nd Saturn return and his natal Saturn squares his NN. Led by Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson, protesters marched from City Hall to the federal building to present a symbolic indictment against Bush, Congress and the president’s administration, alleging such “crimes” as failure to uphold the Constitution, abuse of power and failure to promote the general welfare of Americans. “Our children and later generations will pay the price of the lies, the violence, the cruelty, the incompetence and the inhumanity of the Bush administration and the lackey Congress that has so cowardly abrogated its responsibility and authority under our checks-and-balances system of government,” Anderson said. ... Thanks for the state data. Do you have the data for Maryland? We're having hotly contested races for the governorship and senate (Sarbanes' seat). I'm concerned since Diebold is used statewide and the repugs have been pulling some very underhanded tricks.
Sally, Texas signed it's declaration of independence from Mexico on Mar. 2, 1836. Would that be the correct date or would it 12-29-1849, the date it joined the US. If it is 1836, the signing took place at Washington on the Brazos, about 5 miles from the town of Navasota, which is about 100 miles E of Austin. Just curious. And thanks for all of the info!
Just want to make sure no one misses this one. It's historically beautiful. Posted by: Pat C on August 31, 2006 02:28 PM
There’s an acceleration of consciousness happening now. As the world crises become more accentuated, so there’s a corresponding enhancement of intuition, empathy, sensitivity and sensuality. And as we sit now, in the middle of the fusion point, our best bet is to look beyond the personal and reach out to make a difference. Now is the tipping point, when human beings can together become humans being and begin the process of disempowering the ‘frozen chosen’, as an American friend wrote to me yesterday. So step outside boundaries of imposed and embedded culture into a future of your own making. The right wing elite are tearing themselves apart, the ‘old’ socialism is no more, even religious fundamentalism will cease to be an influence relatively soon. The coming years are the years of self empowerment, communally agreed boundaries, and localised economics. And in the future, August/September 2006 will be remembered for many different reasons. Time to reclaim our psychic birthright, methinks, to see how the world really works and start moving into the consciousness shift.

The US has at least 10 and astrologers use them, at least look at them. It's the same for every event. For the States, it is the day and time and place they joined the US. There are of course discovery dates, independence dates, their constitution dates, but for the purpose of astrology and certainly for the purpose of "reading" an election in the US or anything to do with the US, the chart would be the date they became a part of the United States. Lots of the state capitals have changed since different states joined the US, and lots of capitals were cities or towns long before their territory became a state. Maryland is a good example, Annapolis was founded in 1649, became Maryland's capital in 1694, it was finally incorporated in 1703, served as the capital of the United States from 1783 to 1784 and signed on as a state in 1788 (when the Continental Congress disbanded and the constitution formally adopted.) By Heather May oh my gosh, have you guys seen this???? LONDON (Reuters) - British public broadcaster Channel 4 is courting controversy with what it calls a "shockingly real" drama about the fictional assassination of President George W. Bush. "Death of a President," shot in the form of a documentary examining the assassination, will use a blend of archival footage and computer-generated special effects to portray Bush in October 2007 arriving in Chicago during an anti-war rally. In the film, Bush is killed by a sniper, and the investigation quickly focuses on a Syrian-born man. It will air in October on Channel 4's More4 digital channel, as well as at the Toronto Film Festival in September. "It's a pointed political examination of what the war on terror is doing to the American body politic," said More4 boss Peter Dale at a press conference on Thursday. Promotional materials described the program as "a thought-provoking critique of the contemporary U.S. political landscape." Dale acknowledged that the program will be controversial, but maintained that it was a sophisticated work meant to spur debate. "I'm sure there will be people upset by it," he said. "I hope people will see the intention as a good one." Channel 4, which is publicly owned but funded by advertising, was criticized last week by outgoing ITV Chief Executive Charles Allen for its reliance on reality TV shows and "shock docs." More4's autumn schedule also includes "The Trial of Tony Blair," a satirical program about the future resignation of the British Prime Minister.

Adolf Hitler's financiers, the CLN family, formed UBC to manage investments in America. The US congressional report described Union Bank as an "interlocking trust" with the German Steel Trust. UBC was also involved in raising funds for Germany and illegally transferring aviation fuel technology to the Luftwaffe. The company was established in August 1924 with George Herbert Walker as president. His son-in-law Prescott Bush, the grandfather of current US President George W. Bush, was on the board of directors from 1934 to 1943 with E. Roland Harriman, H. J. Kouwenhoven, Johann G. Groeninger, Harold D. Pennington, Cornelis Lievense, Ray Morris, and E. S. I am a good friend of Mike Malloy and when I started Air America Radio, I wanted him, Randi Rhodes, and Al Franken. I thought that would be a good start. And I got them. When I got a call from Mike Malloy yesterday I was shocked that the AAR board had not offered him a contract. He is the lowest paid of all the regular hosts on AAR and they put him in an awful time slot, 10pm-1am ET. As I stated before, I am a minority owner of AAR and I am not on the board of directors. I do run 2 AAR affiliates in Phoenix and Little Rock. However, the AAR board does not seem to want my advice. It is a shame because I could really help. I have lots of experience in business and I understand good talk radio. AAR is the most branded name in talk radio primarily because the MSM gave them all that free publicity and the right wing talk show hosts always bring up AAR. While I was involved in AAR operations, I recognized that the free publicity we got was wonderful. I also know that you do not have to like your talent and in fact most radio hosts are a bit egocentric and at times difficult to deal with. Howard Stern is the best example of that. Does anyone really like Stern? But, he does create controversy and get lots of listeners. Isn't that what talk radio is about? And Mike Malloy is extremely controversial, but he is knowledgeable and lots of people enjoy his show. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sheldon-drobny/mike-malloy-and-andy-roon_b_28437.html Posted by: wv on August 31, 2006 05:53 PM
By Walter Pincus U.S. military leaders in Baghdad have put out for bid a two-year, $20 million public relations contract that calls for extensive monitoring of U.S. and Middle Eastern media in an effort to promote more positive coverage of news from Iraq. The contract calls for assembling a database of selected news stories and assessing their tone as part of a program to provide "public relations products" that would improve coverage of the military command's performance, according to a statement of work attached to the proposal. The request for bids comes at a time when Bush administration officials are publicly criticizing media coverage of the war in Iraq. The proposal, which calls in part for extensive monitoring and analysis of Iraqi, Middle Eastern and American media, is designed to help the coalition forces understand "the communications environment." Its goal is to "develop communication strategies and tactics, identify opportunities, and execute events . . . to effectively communicate Iraqi government and coalition's goals, and build support among our strategic audiences in achieving these goals," according to the statement of work that is publicly available through the Web site http://www.fbodaily.com . http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/30/AR2006083003011_pf.html Posted by: wv on August 31, 2006 06:02 PMBolton: Unanimity not necessary on Iran
Key European nations will meet with Iran in September in a last-ditch effort to seek a negotiated solution to the standoff over Tehran's refusal to freeze uranium enrichment, a senior U.N. diplomat said Thursday. President Bush said "there must be consequences" for Iran, adding that the war between Tehran-backed Hezbollah militants and Israel demonstrated that "the world now faces a grave threat from the radical regime in Iran." The U.N. nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, said in a report obtained by The Associated Press that Iran shows no signs of freezing enrichment, adding that Tehran started work on a new batch Aug. 24. The confidential IAEA report will be given to its 35-nation board. That is expected to trigger U.N. Security Council members — by mid-September — to begin considering economic or political sanctions. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told a crowd of thousands in the northwestern city of Orumiyeh that "the Iranian nation will not accept for one moment any bullying, invasion and violation of its rights." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060831/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iran_nuclear&printer=1 Posted by: wv on August 31, 2006 06:16 PM

Today, more than 15 states have introduced a depleted uranium bill, and Louisiana and Connecticut have passed theirs. It has created a nightmare for the federal government and put the Pentagon in permanent PR counterspin as well as exposed 15 years of official coverup under three Presidents and corruption in Congress. Our children, our sons and daughters, have been sent off to the battlefields of the Middle East and Central Asia to become uranium meat. The cost of their care has been dumped on the state medical facilities. Their families have been destroyed, not to mention their lives. It is time for citizens and state elected officials to pass depleted uranium bills which will help all soldiers by putting pressure on the federal government.

It's funny how the "debate" over Israel's role in the making of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East is playing out, now that John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt have let the cat out of the bag. Their critics have yet to confront the cogent arguments laid out in their seminal paper "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy," and now they have yet another excuse for not confronting the facts. The two scholars recently spoke under the auspices of CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, and even Reason magazine's David Weigel – normally a rational critic of the War Party – is tut-tutting: http://antiwar.com/justin/?articleid=9625
By Ray McGovern Friday 25 August 2006 Talk about chutzpah! I was suffering a bit from outrage fatigue yesterday but was shaken out of it as soon as I downloaded an unusually slick paper, "Recognizing Iran as a Strategic Threat: An Intelligence Challenge for the United States," released this week by House intelligence committee chair, Pete Hoekstra. No, not "Hoaxer." This is serious - very serious. The paper amounts to a pre-emptive strike on what's left of the Intelligence Community, usurping its prerogative to provide policymakers with estimates on front-burner issues - in this case, Iran's weapons of mass destruction and other threats. The Senate had already requested a National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on Iran. But Hoekstra is first out of the starting gate. Professional intelligence officers were "as a courtesy" invited to provide input to Hoekstra's report. While you can't judge a book by its cover, you can glean insight these days from the titles given to National Intelligence Estimates and papers meant to supplant them. Remember "Iraq's Continuing Program for Weapons of Mass Destruction," the infamous NIE of October 1, 2002, by which Congress was misled into approving an unnecessary war? "Continuing" leaped out of the title, foreshadowing the one-sided thrust of an estimate ostensibly commissioned to determine whether WMD programs were "continuing," or whether they had been dead for ten years. (The latter turned out to be the case, but the title - and the cooked insides - provided the scare needed to get Congress aboard.) http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/printer_082506R.shtml Posted by: wv on August 31, 2006 07:16 PMhttp://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_frank_j__060829_bush_nixes_public_ac.htm Bush Nixes Public Access to EPA Libraries! What has been termed, "positively Orwellian", by PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch, is indeed frightening. It seems that the self-appointed "Decider", George W. Bush, has decided to "end public access to research materials" at EPA Regional libraries without Congressional consent. In an all out effort to impede research and public access, Bush has implemented a loosely covert operation to close down 26 technical libraries under the guise of a budgetary constraint move. Scientists are protesting, but at least 15 of the libraries will be closed by Sept. 30, 2006. "Public access to EPA libraries and collections will end as soon as possible", according to a report found online at PEER, an acronym for Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility. All total, nearly 80,000 documents, not in digital format, are being boxed up and placed in infinite limbo status by the Bush Administration. The scene from the Raiders of the Lost Ark, where the Ark of the Covenant was wheeled into a massive sea of identical box crates, inside an enormous warehouse, comes vividly to mind. The suppression of information to the public and efforts to control the flow of information of the sciences has reached critical mass. Shades of the once science fictional book, Fahrenheit 451, are dangerously close to reality and the banning and burning of books looms all to surreal, but are more fact than science fiction now. Who could have ever envisioned that Ray Bradbury's vicious, futuristic, dystopian society would ever come to fruition; but it may indeed have done just that! See, Bush positively does not want the American people to know about the real effects of global warming, mercury levels, air pollution, and any other topic, which if known about by the populous, would undeniably be dire for "Corporate America". Bush is unconcerned with your health, my health, the health of our children and the future of this planet we all call home. What he is concerned about is the gleaming health of the bottom lines of the corporate trough from which his completely corrupt and dangerous enterprise feeds. More.... The insanity has spread.... Pentagon sees Iran with bomb in 5 years: report WASHINGTON - The U.S. military is operating on the assumption that Tehran is five to eight years away from being able to build a nuclear bomb, The Washington Times reported in its Thursday edition. The five-year window provides the Bush administration time to decide whether to launch air strikes to cripple Tehran's atomic program, the newspaper said, citing defense sources familiar with discussions inside the Pentagon. http://news.yahoo.com/fc/world/iran Posted by: Cybear on August 31, 2006 10:05 PMI daresay that Liz Greene describes well the alchemical spiritual process of almost five millenniums pink supremacist boyz are leading & bringing to a head/close at this present time… “The urges which the 3 known outer planets symbolize [Uranus, Neptune & Pluto] are rarely available to the consciousness of the individual; for they all mark the transition from one phase of consciousness to another, & consciousness cannot apprehend such transitions. It can only apprehend the phase in which it is functioning at a given moment. Saturn is the great Lord of Boundaries & Mast of Illusion [Neptune being of DIS/illusionment], playing the part of Lucifer & whispering to us that the personal world we experience is the perimeter of reality, to penetrate beyond which is at best foolish & at worst mad. Often we believe the whisper, & ID with what we call ‘objective’ reality, failing to see that it is completely subjective & that we are only creating our own interpretations of life. And like Lucifer, who—as Goethe points out—is secretly the right hand of god, Saturn urges us to ID more & more with our interpretations, so that eventually we isolate ourselves so completely that we are indeed in Hell—a hell of dissociation from the deepest underlying currents of life. In this way Saturn is the great teacher, disguised as the bringer of pain & limitation, for it is only at the point of darkness & decay—which the alchemists called the nigredo or the Caput Mortuum, The Dead Head, the first stage of the alchemical work—that we become aware of the Other within us, the true creative power of the Self. This may sound more & more like the mystic’s vision; yet it is a psychological process empirically observable in any individual’s [or collective’s] life—altho the ways in which people actualize it are very different.” – Relating: an astrological guide to living with others on a small planet, pg 42 Marta, I largely agree with you. I am not saying that I want to change Iran's government. That is for the people to do from within. From what I know, the people have not been happy under the Islamic regime. You say the people are entitled to their culture. That is for sure, but the mullahs have turned the clock back for the people to a very primative, controlled and punitive way of life. They voted in their current president. They may be happy with him, but sometimes you don't know what you are getting until it's too late. From the kinds of remarks he has made, I don't trust him with nuclear power or the fact that his country backs terrorists. However, I don't know if there is anything that we could or should do. I don't think any fundamentalist religion or regime (theocracy) is good. They become the equivalent of police states, but that is up to the people living there as to whether they want to put up with it. Sally, I think it is really cool to check into the astrology of states and cities. Is there a way to do cities. Posted by: Teresa on September 1, 2006 02:13 AMwv, aaaahhhhaaaaaa, connecting the dots once I read your "more on your 7:01 post" about depleted uranium ... that may be one of the reasons that some turkey stuck a stipulation in a bill (or Bush/Rummy announced it ... getting foggy here ...) that they were going to federalize the national guard and army ready reserves (i.e. not have to worry about treating the troops for depleted uranium diseases) ... the reason I say "one reason" is that I'm sure there are other reasons too, such as, states could no longer use their national guardsmen to protect themselves from the army (if it ever came to that) once they (the guard/reserves) had been successfully put directly under the command of the federal govt. You lose the chain of command and soldiers are taught to follow their commander. If they put them under the federal govt. you can bet they're going to quickly start mixing them up with other units to erode the attachment to their "home state" (I'm an army brat, lots of fam in the army/guard/reserves). Posted by: Marta on September 1, 2006 02:22 AMMarta, we seem to agree on most of this, but I do think there is a difference between terrorists and freedom fighters. I don't believe the US gubmint and the news media - fooow nooooows! Hizbullah - They are a militia (is the Florida national guard or ready reserves a "terrist"?) that protects the people that reside within their geographic area (south lebanon) and also serves as a community service ('member when the national guard got called in to help after the hurricane???? - that's what hezbollah does, along with other social services, including, but not limited to stopping the Israeli's from their continuos penetration of Lebanon's sovereign state to kill and kidnap anyone they feel like, etc. But the US has labeled them "terrist" because they are sticking in the way of the US's plan against Iran/Syria. 08/31/06 "Information Clearing House " -- -- Nazareth.-- In a state established on a founding myth -- that the native Palestinian population left of their own accord rather than that they were ethnically cleansed -- and in one that seeks its legitimacy through a host of other lies, such as that the occupation of the West Bank is benign and that Gaza's has ended, deception becomes a political way of life. And so it is in the "relative calm" that has followed Israel's month-long pounding of Lebanon, a calm in which Israelis may no longer be dying but the Lebanese most assuredly are as explosions of US-made cluster bombs greet the south's returning refugees and the anonymous residents of Gaza perish by the dozens each and every week under the relentless and indiscriminate strikes of the Israeli air force while the rest slowly starve in their open-air prison. Israeli leaders deceive as much in "peace" as they do in war, which is why it is worth examining the slow trickle of disinformation coming from Tel Aviv and reflecting on where it is leading. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article14769.htm Posted by: wv on September 1, 2006 03:19 AMWhile burying myself on one of my never ending research oceans (meaning I like to go far and deep) I just realized that on 11/22/1963 Neptune was on 15 degrees Scorpio and Saturn squared at 17 degrees Aquarius (the degree of today's Saturn/Neptune opposition) Saturn and Neptune have not aspected each other in fixed signs since then, until today. Of course all could be resolved by then. Sally, I'm not sure I want to start a snowball rolling down a hill or anything, but if you don't mind me asking, what do you possibly see for Cleveland, and by extension, Northeastern Ohio (i.e. Akron, Canton, Youngstown, etc.)? This area has been in a state of economic decay and a slow but gradually increasing decline for years now (business and population exodus, etc.), faring much worse than Columbus and Cincinnati, as the recent "poorest US city" title suggests. I always look at Cleveland as the cultural seat and really the origin point of NE Ohio since its' identity extends throughout the multi-county region. Do you see any signs of hope or revival on or over the horizon? Or further ruin? Everything I've found shows the City of Cleveland (proper) with a Cancer Sun, but there seems to be a lot of Capricorn energy, and I believe that Cleveland's founding date from what I have read was sometime in late December or January. There are new opportunities about to come their way particularly after the 1st of the year if they can take advantage of them or will. Their moon by the way is 0 Pisces. Akron Dec. 6, 1825 11:23am - Akron has a slower climb but a sure climb out of the doldrums, however both Akron and Canton will also have some opportunities coming up, the trick is to stop feeling like victims and take advantage of those. For Akron these are new opportunities and necessitates going in a new direction. I don't know how far Canton is from Akron, but if they are close the two cities can work together to bring about prosperity over the next few years. Canton Nov. 15, 1805 9:19am The state chart clearly shows that when they begin to really shift consciousness away from a stiffling fear over their situation and begin the process of collectively introducing a prosperity consciousness their whole energy of the state shifts. Course that will start at the governmental level. Taft has bled this state dry and introduced a type of victim mentality. The seeming rejection of Blackwell for Governor is a good start. The state as a whole is on the verge of real anger which can turn into a creative explosion if channeled. I honestly think Ohio went for Kerry last election, they desperately wanted change and still do. Posted by: Sally on September 1, 2006 07:24 AMSorry, I forgot Youngstown. June 25, 1797 11:58am, Thanks, Sally. Interesting about Cleveland. I never imagined that it had a Leo Sun, though the moody/dreamy/sympathetic Pisces Moon is very evident in the people. I also would not have guessed about Akron having a Sag Sun. On the other hand, the city has been known for originating a lot of creative ideas and inventions that travel far and wide around the world (Aquarius? Pisces?) Then again, both cities have been incorporated and reincorporated several times after various annexations and mergers over the years, so I guess there could be a few other charts that would work as well. Cleveland, for instance, co-existed with its rival, Ohio City for some years before the two merged. Cleveland obviously survived, but I'm sure the energy after that merger would have been different. Akron, meanwhile was once seperate North and South settlements before the two merged into one Akron. Akron and Canton are less than 20 miles apart and share a regional airport. They are very casual with each other, though it doesn't seem to translate into much regional collaboration beyond the airport and using each other's facilities for high school sports championships. I think Akron looks at Canton as its' little brother in much the same way that Cleveland looks to Akron as a sort of younger, smaller sibling. Still, all of the cities fortunes seem to be tied together by geography, if nothing else. I don't know about feelings of being a victim in Canton, but Akron still feels something for the loss of the Rubber Industry. I do see the Cancer energy in Youngstown, though. It's been a troubled, depressed town on a steady downward spiral since the Great Depression, stumbling again and suffering badly with the steel mill shutdowns in the Rust Belt years of the late 1970s and 1980s. For all the bad rap it gets, however (i.e. "Little Detroit") the people there are remarkably warm and friendly in a genuinely Cancerian way. There's recent talk of them "bottoming out" in the census reports with a population of less than half of their peak and starting to rebuild as a smaller town. Maybe there is finally no place else for them to go but up? There is growing anger in Ohio. Not a good time to be an incumbent of either party, though most of Ohioans' ire seems to be directed towards Columbus and Washington, where Republicans dominate. People here are increasingly worried about the economic future of this state, which blessedly, is finally trumping fundamentalist Christian distractions. That transiting Saturn was trine the Part of Assasination in Lincoln's chart. Also how's this for bizarre: Hi Sally, How about Lansing, Michigan, or Michigan in general? Our Democratic governor Jennifer Granholm has her hands full fighting off gazillionaire fundie Dick DeVos of Amway to try to win her second term (she was left with a huge mess to clean up after 12 disastrous years under the ruthless Republican John Engler). DeVos' wife Betsy Marie Antoinette made a statement recently that Michigan workers "make too much money". Not hardly, we have lost so many jobs, manufacturing, Big 3 automotive, unions, you name it our state is still struggling and it seems like it will take years to repair the damage Engler did. We're also trying to get rid of Mike Rogers from our 8th Congressional district, and a couple of other entrenched Republicans from the east side of the state. Thank Godd/ess we have John Conyers,Jr. to be proud of for his thorough impeachment work, but of course he is always being attacked and disrespected for it. I pray for our beautiful Great Lakes State to recover somewhat. Posted by: Shez SpiritEye on September 1, 2006 09:23 AMGov. Granholm ought to win hands down. Thought For the Day
September is a month of final actions and of wrapping things up and finishing them, once and for all. By the month end, many situations, both personal and global, will have resolved in a way that will clarify events since 1999 in a new and different context. The seven year itch works, and by the end of the month you can put things away neatly and folded, not having to lock the door or suppress and repress. It’s a time of reaping, not sowing. Just be cautious of grandiose statements or actions, the potential for over the top reactions is still very strong. The full Moon on the 7th is a time of dramatic actions, that will change things once and forever, so stay flexible and know when to suddenly take advantage of situations and when to duck. The new Moon on the 22nd really is indicative of new beginnings, and this is the theme for the rest of the year onwards. But don’t rush – through till Equinox the energetic patterns are directed to clearing up old mess before new clean beginnings can occur. And on the first of the month, let me give you something that you will remember for the rest of your lives, and never be able to forget. Channelers, yes? Mediums, yes? Love them or hate them, they’re here, and many of them channel the Ascended Masters in a somewhat po-faced way. Me – I’m a pagan astrologer – I channel the Descended Mistresses.
Lisa Dale Miller Vying for your attention on this Full Moon in Pisces is a stellium of planets in Virgo (the healer/mentor)-Venus (love), Sun (personal motivation), Mercury (mind), Mars (action) and the South Node (accrued knowledge)—and on the other side Uranus (the awakener), Moon (intuition), and the North Node (knowledge seeking) in Pisces (the Bodhisattva). I hope you are ready to step deeply into a celebration of commitment to the enlightenment of all sentient beings. No doubt about it; this will be a very spiritually demanding Full Moon. I cannot emphasize enough the intense nature of this opposition, especially with the lunar eclipse. Though it will be a rather small partial eclipse, the partial phase lasts over 1 1/2 hours. The event is best seen from Africa, Asia, Australia and Eastern Europe. Unfortunately, none of the eclipse is visible from North America "DeVos' wife Betsy Marie Antoinette made a statement recently that Michigan workers 'make too much money'." Sounds like a projection to me... Marie Antoinette is saying she & her family is making too much money & there you have the truth... never mind going off on workers. It's amazing that that amway has lasted this long... one heckova pyramid scheme... a scheme type for which dyed pompadoured fundies are rather famous. ;O)(...bet they don't have any ceiling fans at their house...) Posted by: on September 1, 2006 03:39 PMLet me do a quick one on Michigan but I will have need to say no more for today because I will not be here for most of the day and if I do post it will be pretty short I think. Oh Yuck Michigan - Jan. 26, 1837 2:06pm Detroit Saturn just passed over by conjunction the state's jupiter and is going on to a conj. to Mars and square to Saturn and opposition to Mercury. Don't know if this will affect or does affect your elections but potential of corruption coming from the state house or justice system something there not pleasant, things are not on the up and up there. The people of Michigan are certainly depressed right now and afraid, in fact they've always been afraid. It's taken different forms but the fear has always been there. I don't think you will have too long to wait, Saturn will set this off pretty quick to find out what is going on in the state. As for the "city" of Detroit (July 23, 1701, 5:23pm) they should be getting back on their feet over the next 7 years. Lansing (03.16.1847 10:45am) To say Lansing is changing or trying to change would be an understatment and they are making solid gains in making those changes. Hopefully, the state itself will be too afraid to change Governors. I haven't heard much about Granholm or how she is doing. Looking at the State chart, Michigan might want to retain the status quo for the time being. Posted by: Sally on September 1, 2006 03:46 PM
Bigotry President George Bush's ignorance of the Middle East and its people is well-known. So also is his habit of parroting words and sentences given to him by other people. He hit a new low when he referred to "Islamo-fascists." No two more opposite concepts are to be found. Fascism glorifies the nation-state; Islam is transnational. Fascism demands slavish devotion to a national leader; Muslims are far too independent-minded to be slavish followers of anybody. Virtually all the people Saddam Hussein murdered were people trying to overthrow him. Fascism is militaristic. Devos blanketed the state with a few million dollars in campaign attack ads, thankfully they have tapered off in this last week, his droning voice alone gives me the heebies but I'm sure he's just reloading his guns. Checking polls I found this from the Detroit News fundie rag: "A new Detroit News/WXYZ-TV poll taken Aug. 9-14 and unveiled Tuesday shows Granholm at 50 percent support for the first time in six months. She has a three-point lead over DeVos, who is at 47 percent." Reading more there is between 9 - 12% undecided, so yes he is polling well after his attack ads. But Jennifer has come back with positive ads highlighting all the jobs she picked up from her Japan trips, and she snagged a deal with Google to bring in 1000 new jobs with them coming to Ann Arbor with a new office center soon, I think one of the founders is from that area. Lansing itself has undergone many changes lately with fiesty Democrat Virg Bernero as the new mayor, he's making waves, tough talk and tough choices. Hi All Sharon, I share your distaste for some of the things the Iranian mullahs do: particularly the treatment of women... it can be shocking in the extreme. Just before leaving Australia on this trip, in early August, I saw a documentary on a young woman that was hanged for 'adultery'. She wasn't married, but the taxi driver that continually assuaulted her was. It was shocking and made me feel sick. She was hanged from a crane as have been many other people, whether male or female. The abuses are incredible. This, and other horrid things they get up to, does not excuse the US wanting to bomb them. Iran is a beautiful country filled with beautiful people. I had the pleasure to go there in 1976, the Shah was still in power and it was quite something... the countryside was gorgeous, the mosques extraordinary in their beauty. The people fascinating, welcoming and warm. As I'm sure we all know on this board, war kills and maims and ruins the lives of the innocent and that's what will happen if the US goes after Iran. It will be shocking, I imagine, and it will affect all of us in some way. Further to the horrible documentary I saw on that poor young woman, I saw a beauooootiful movie a few years back. It was called The Color of Paradise... perhaps folks on this board might like to Google it. It was so sad, so beautiful, so endearing... I don't often cry over movies, but I started to cry within minutes of it starting and was still upset days after seeing it. It was about a blind boy that no one really wanted.... boy, did it stir me up emotionally!! the color of the movie was gorgeously colorful and yet bleakly black and white. I encourage anyone to watch it. I despair of the propaganda on the news. I'm currently staying in a house with an 18 year old son who firmly believes everyone has the right to carry a gun to protect themselves from those 'out there that want to get you'. I talked with him for a while about it, but was never going to be able to change his mind: he's convinced that we in Australia with our rather strict guns laws are the idiots... pointing out to him that 30,000 Americans die each year from gun shot wounds didn't seem to move him at all. Weird. I asked him how many people die from terrorist plots inside the US... I think I gave him something to think about for all of about 30 seconds... he's into the Republicans, it's a no win. I woke a few times last night almost haunted by the fact that there's people like him around me. I get somewhat FURIOUS inside when I really think about the gun (read also war) thing. What on earth gives someone else the right to have something on their body that can snuff out my life in a second? It's obscene and so, of course, is war. Sharon, I so can understand your feelings about the Iran thing, but in all of this we need to remember that folks is folks everywhere. There are good and kind people everywhere... and the puritans in the US are often extremely cruel and restrictive of our freedoms, just in a less obvious way. Marta, again, thanks Greetings from Phoenix (and waving to PatC!) Posted by: Lynda Hill on September 1, 2006 07:29 PM
"...a documentary on young woman that was hanged for 'adultery'..."; "...war kills and maims and ruins the lives of the innocent..." Ahh but "documentaries" don't hang women for "adultery," & "war" doesn't happen by itself nor do "wildings" in central park do gang rape, & "guns" don't shoot people... it's done or behaved by somebody & somebodys. But we don't want to name, offend or make angry the supremacist male persons who do these things do we... their dark sides count on that enabling particuarly by women, never being called to account, never having to do the painful work of reconnecting to Life from their spiritualy pathological dissociation & armoring. No... we mustn't hurt their widdle feelins because then... they might do something worse. Worse? Yes, they seem to hurt, too, but not enuf to do something about it... at least not yet. Charles Mansons & Jeffrey Daumers go to psych unit prisons, but get them in packs... then medals are awarded, flags are carefully folded for the widows, great monumental cemeteries are carefully mowed & pruned, marching music & sad little taps are played for the glory of the Hero & caviar is served to the old withered instigators... for the glory of the institutionalized mass killer & sadist. By Chris Floyd 09/01/06 "t r u t h o u t" -- - Don Rumsfeld is fond of historical analogies when pontificating about Iraq; he particularly favors comparisons to the Nazi era and the Allied occupation of Germany after World War II. Unfortunately, any historian will tell you that Rummy's parallels are invariably false, even ludicrous. So we thought we'd give the beleaguered Pentagon warlord a more accurate and telling analogy to chew on. Try this one, Don. Imagine that British occupation troops in, say, Hanover, had been forced to abandon a major base, under fire, and retreat into guerrilla operations in the Black Forest - in 1948, three years after the fall of the Nazi regime. And that as soon as the Brits made their undignified bug-out, the base had been devoured by looters while the local, Allies-backed authorities simply melted away and an extremist, virulently anti-Western militia moved into the power vacuum. Do I count forward from Saturn in leo to find the midpoint? If so it's 6 degrees from my moon in the 6th H. Speaking of Jo, I wish she'd start posting again. That would be very nice. This month's figures prove that the so-called "housing bubble" is not only real, but that its cratering faster than anyone had realized. As the UK Guardian reported just yesterday, "the orderly housing slowdown predicted by the Federal Reserve will (soon) become a full-blown crash". All the indicators are now pointing in the wrong direction. Consumer confidence is down, inventory is at a 10 year high, and the number of homes sold in July was 22% lower than last year. As Paul Ashworth, chief economist at Capital Economics said, "Things seem to be getting worse very quickly. Freefall is a strong word, but I think it's the right one to use here." Peg, the orb for mid-points is about 1/2 a degree either side, but more impactful if applying. There are a couple of good books on midpoints but the best is Ebertin, he's really the father of cosmobology. His book "The Combination of Stellar Influences" is very good. I saw the info on Johnny Gosch last night and was as mystified by it as you Peg. This isn't the end I don't think, someone is trying to send her a massage and perhaps a message that he's alive and cannot speak to her? I don't know. I do remember this story when it came out in 1989 but it was killed as fast as it was printed and until the internet published all this you didn't hear about it again until the Gannon/Guckert fiasco a couple of years ago and it made it's way around again, but not in MSM. I wonder with this pics showing up and a couple of days ago I saw a little article saying several congressmen and newsmen are being blackmailed over a sex-scandal that's been going on for years. http://sf.indymedia.org/news/2003/02/1570946.php (Some of the links are broken I think, I've had this on file for 6 years. The first article up is from the Washington Times; did Rev. Sun Moon (who owns the Times) print this as a way to show the washington powers what he had on them and was willing to publish it, is that where Moon became such a friend of the Bush's and such a political player? As I've said "Saturn/Neptune are not planets that would give sudden events, they unfold over time and Saturn will oppose Neptune three times this year." Don't know when this "sex-ring" started. I know Hoover was hated and feared because of his blackmail tactics but I don't know if it came before the Reagan Administration or after. Certainly Hoover had lots of secret and damaging information on Congressmen and the power brokers in Washington long before 1988 (the first credit card date) but was something like this organized before Reagan? Something beyond whore houses? I don't know. Looking at the karmic debt Washington piled up with Clinton (and it wasn't just the GOP) their own karma could be working it's way to the front, only who would print it? Nonetheless, it's hard to imagine someone sending this picture to Johnny Gosch's mother after 24 years and why. Joseph Cannon – Cannonfire Blogspot January 30, 2006 I still cannot return to regular posting. Give me another week or so. Right now, I'm going to make a confession. I'm going to put a troubling matter "on the record." I do so with some hesitation, since the business under discussion could ruin whatever small reputation I may have gained. The question of the day comes down to this: Do you believe in ESP? I grew up immersed in Fox Mulder-ish lore (Tom Delay wasn't kidding when he said that sites like mine belonged to the "X-Files" wing of the Democratic party), but over the years, my attitude slid into skepticism. I've met a lot of people who claimed to have had preternatural experiences or abilities. These claimants invariably turned out to be irritating and unreliable. Magic? UFOs? Ghosts? Visions of the Virgin Mary? The internet and your local library abound with many a wild story, but proof remains unobtainable. Posted by: JoannaOregon on September 4, 2006 03:27 AM* VOTING PROBLEMS IN MEXICO STILL UNRESOLVED There is turmoil in Mexico. Many of the citizens are tired of decades of fraud, & of a ["govt"] which is in bondage to moneyed elites of both Mexico & the US. The prez election on July 2 was a turning point for many. I was in Mexico City at that time, among voters with a variety of pts of view. Some, mostly those where someone in the family worked for the ["govt"], supported Felipe Calderon, of the PAN party, backed by business. Others supported Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), the popular mayor of Mexico City, of the PRD party. The reactions of most of them to the voting process were most revealing. Whatever their political proclivities, they returned from the polls with a variety of stories to tell about fraud which they had witnessed or experienced or heard about. It sounded very much like the dozens of types of fraud cataloged in Ohio. The immediate general consensus, as I witnessed, was that this election was fraudulent. July 5, when the final results were not even in yet, there was already public talk of fraud. Mexicans have endured so many fraudulent elections that they have developed a sharp eye for cheating. And they are also fed up with it. It sounded like a familiar story, which we have heard in the US as well. Altho the polls had been close between the two candidates, the majority of the exit polls gave the election to AMLO—who inexplicably lost. There was also an incredibly high number of annulled votes—nearly one million, 3X Calderon’s margin of victory. The tribunal resisted a hand count of those null votes, just as Katherine Harris did in FL. Calderon had a very tiny majority, & he, & gwbush, immediately declared himself the winner. (bush had sent down election “advisors.”) AMLO, unlike Al Gore/John Kerry, did not accept this decision. He gathered a thousand pages of testimony, plus videos, & turned them in to the tribunal to challenge their decision. He asked for a full recount, which could, by Mexican law, occur. ... http://www.daykeeperjournal.com/feature.shtml Posted by: JoannaOregon on September 4, 2006 03:34 AM"...Mexico is on the move, & it is an exciting & complicated drama. ..." We have one directional change in September, and it is a big one. Pluto is taking center stage here, just as he is the center of the planetary buzz. Pluto turns direct at 25 Sagittarius on September 4. Its transformational impact will manifest strongly around these days—as we already note. Pluto relates to masses, to things on a large scale. With high tension in the air waves, and in the heavens, it is likely that we will experience mass movements, and extreme events. Pluto is also the grand manipulator, and powers propaganda. Watch for it on a big scale. Pluto’s colors are black and white, which are extreme ends of the spectrum. Things are very bad, or very good, hellish or heavenly. Both Pluto’s timing and location now amplify its power. It is squaring the Moon’s Nodes, to bring a new spirit into the world. Pluto rules birth and death, and Moon’s Nodes include all of us. Those Nodes, in Pisces and Virgo, are now at the place of the Lunar Eclipse of last March 14, which brought huge new mobilizations to seek dignity amongst immigrants all over the world. The Nodal polarity of Pisces-Virgo is the Eclipse polarity through 2007, and in fact there are two such Eclipses this month. Eclipses are catalysts for change, and a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse occurs on September 7, in the wake of Pluto’s direct shift. This Full Moon is exceptionally close to earth, and its gravitational pull is extreme. If you’re near the sea, notice the high tides. Also, excitement increases in all of us with the approaching full moon. Pluto is now, and throughout most of 2007, will be, situated at the Galactic Center. We can observe its significance throughout the next year. Scientists have discovered a Black Hole at that location. Black Holes can turn standard reality inside out. They tend to be connected to large-scale events where there is a great expenditure of energy. Their action can be similar to that of Pluto himself. In addition, we are experiencing a turning point in the Saturn-Neptune conjunction of 1989, which burst eastern Europe free from Communist domination. And Mars has just squared Pluto, to give it a shot of martial energy. We can see that this Pluto shift signals enormous changes in world consciousness. Posted by: wv on September 5, 2006 12:58 AM
Patrick Wintour, political editor Guardian Tony Blair's position has been further undermined by the drafting of a private letter from a majority of the 2001 intake of Labour MPs urging him to resign. It is understood the letter was organised at the weekend in the wake of Mr Blair's decision to announce that he would not give to the Labour conference this month a date, or timetable for his departure. It was not clear last night whether the letter had been sent. Last night, the BBC reported that a second, similar letter from the 2005 intake was being prepared. Others may be being drafted in what could be seen as a pincer movement against the prime minister. http://politics.guardian.co.uk/print/0,,329568844-121404,00.html Sally, I've considered your perspective on Cleveland a little more, especially where it concerns sudden luck and windfalls as you described it. The Political Compass™ Welcome to The Political Compass™. http://www.politicalcompass.org/ Posted by: wv on September 5, 2006 03:33 PMVery cool site to share:
I’ve written about the V.A. before; it was the subject of a recent informative article in Time. Some still think of the V.A. as a decrepit institution, which it was in the Reagan and Bush I years. But thanks to reforms begun under Bill Clinton, it’s now providing remarkably high-quality health care at remarkably low cost. The key to the V.A.’s success is its long-term relationship with its clients: veterans, once in the V.A. system, normally stay in it for life. http://donkeyod.blogspot.com/2006/09/health-policy-malpractice-by-paul.html

by Greg Palast Some years from now, in an economic refugee relocation “Enterprise Zone,” your kids will ask you, “What did you do in the Class War, Daddy?” The trick of class war is not to let the victims know they’re under attack. That’s how, little by little, the owners of the planet take away what little we have. Last week, Dupont, the chemical giant, slashed employee pension benefits by two-thirds. Furthermore, new Dupont workers won’t get a guaranteed pension at all — and no health care after retirement. It’s part of Dupont’s new “Die Young” program, I hear. Dupont is not in financial straits. Rather, the slash attack on its workers’ pensions was aimed at adding a crucial three cents a share to company earnings, from $3.11 per share to $3.14. http://www.gregpalast.com/todays-pig-is-tomorrows-bacon-a-labor-day-recipe Posted by: wv on September 5, 2006 09:27 PM
And it’s all about Uranus, physically and metaphorically, with the Moon fresh in Aquarius three days off full, and a whiff of change in the air. There’s a big release of tension due, and the next three days are excellent for doing something different. Get in at the start, be on the cutting edge. There’s a new enthusiasm dawning, and although I expect a number of over hyped attempts to defuse this, the swell is already gathering pace. Decisions and actions taken now can grab a short term window of opportunity and use it to get an early start in affairs that have yet to fully birth. Normally at times like these I’m relatively cautious, but there’s an element of chance and even luck out there at the moment, so if you feel lucky….
4 September
Over the coming day the Sun, Earth and Uranus will be in a straight line in the heavens. This is an aspect commonly associated with earthquakes, volcanoes and other sudden and dramatic shifts of focus. Whilst I’m not suggesting that this will happen in the next 24, the coming full Moon (7/8 Sept, depending where you are) is conjunct Uranus. I think there are seismic shifts occurring this week in the corridors of power, and that the immediate danger of the last month is now past its strongest. The imagery is of someone falling on their sword having failed to achieve their goals. As regular readers know, I’ve suggested that as September evolves bubbles will burst in preparation for new beginnings in October, and we may well see the first signs of this during this coming week. A good week for taking the initiative and being bold, but not for normality and routine.
Here you will find out the little known truth concerning President George W. Bush, Victor Ashe, the current American ambassador to Poland (formerly mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee and Exec. V.P.; C.F.O. of Fannie Mae), and their adulterous-bisexual relationship with a Las Vegas woman in 1984. This situation took place in 1984 in the State of Tennessee. It concerns a 41 year old woman [currently residing in Las Vegas], Victor Ashe and George Bush's encounter in 1984 during the senate debates between Al Gore, Jr., Victor Ashe and Ed McAteer. She was invited to come to Tennessee by Victor Ashe. While attending one of these debates she spoke briefly with Ed McAteer (Senatorial candidate in 1984 who debated alongside Al Gore, Jr. and Victor Ashe, and was responsible in part for the emergence of the Religious Right). http://www.bartcop.com/bushblewaguy.htm Posted by: wv on September 5, 2006 09:40 PMI don't know if you guys have seen this - I saw this documentary on television in Australia... thought I should bring it to your attention if you haven't seen it. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article3267.htm it's upsetting, very upsetting... A beacon of hope for progressive thinkers Published by Antony Loewenstein September 5th, 2006 in Israel The following review of My Israel Question by Lucy Clark appeared in Murdoch’s Sydney Sunday Telegraph on September 3: The old adage that no news is good news doesn’t necessarily apply to publicity; bad publicity is often thought to be better than not being mentioned at all. Curiosity is doubly piqued when the righteous call for something to be banned, so when ALP MP Michael Danby calls on a publisher to drop a “disgusting project”, then says, “If, God forbid, it is published, don’t give them a dollar, don’t buy the book”, what are you going to do? What could be more alluring than The Book They Tried to Ban? Is My Israel Question by Sydney writer Antony Loewenstein (Melbourne University Press, $32.95) really disgusting? Far from it. Rather, it’s a deeply felt plea for balance in what has proved to be the most intractable conflict of our time, a breath of fresh, compassionate air in a debate riven by hatred, propaganda and hypocrisy. Loewenstein, a young Australian Jew, should have called his book, My Israel Questions, because the rigour he applies to the two-sided human tragedy that is the Israel-Palestine conflict seeks to answer many questions. Among them: how could a democratic state maintain a brutal occupation of another people for more than 40 years? Why do we constantly hear about Israel’s need for security, as if that justifies building walls, checkpoints and barriers? http://antonyloewenstein.com/blog/2006/09/05/a-beacon-of-hope-for-progressive-thinkers/

by Steve Soto "It's not in the interest of any major corporation to be dragged into a highly charged partisan political battle." You are no doubt aware by now that ABC plans to commemorate the fifth anniversary of 9/11 in a typical conservative corporate way: by airing a piece of right wing political propaganda packaged as a docu-drama on the country's inability to stop Al Qaeda in the years leading up to 9/11. Rather than stay with the record assembled by the 9/11 Commission, the right wing producers behind this project brought aboard commission chair Tom Kean, paid him a fee to give the project some semblance of an official seal, and then put out in their advertising that the movie was based on the commission's work without getting the commission to sanction the screenplay or endorse the final movie. Kean did this because he has a son in a tight race for Senate in New Jersey who could use this publicity, but Kean has forever soiled the credibility and independence of that commission's work in tying them to this piece of propaganda. http://www.theleftcoaster.com/ Posted by: wv on September 5, 2006 10:09 PMFrom Salon Blogging from the Left DAVID CORN 9/5/2006 Posted by: wv on September 5, 2006 10:31 PMWell, well, well, Iran is purging "Lib'rul" teachers......why doesn't that cause more cognitive dissonace here since the rabid right has always demonized liberals? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060905/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iran_university_purge Posted by: Garry on September 6, 2006 01:32 AMLink TV is avaiable thru Dish TV too. Wednesday September 6, 2006 1:16 AM TOKYO (AP) - Japan's Princess Kiko gave birth to a boy early Wednesday, the royal family's first male heir to the throne in more than 40 years, the palace announced. The birth came about an hour after Kiko, 39, was reported to have undergone a Caesarean section. The boy is the third in line to the throne, after Crown Prince Naruhito and Kiko's husband, Prince Akishino. The boy, the first male heir born in Japan since Akishino in 1965, was born at 8:27 a.m. and weighed about 7 pounds, the palace said.

SHE LOOKED LIKE A LITTLE GIRL WHO HAD TO GO POTTY By ANDREA PEYSER September 6, 2006 -- Tell us what you think of Katie's CBS debut. E-mail katiecbs@nypost.com . KATIE COURIC last night underwent her second on-air colonoscopy. Watching the procedure was not a horribly painful event. Nor was it an experience I would volunteer to repeat any time soon. For her very first night as CBS News diva, Katie spent a half-hour looking as if she desperately had to go potty. Her back was so stiff as she looked into the camera, pop-eyed and self-conscious, I feared it would snap. Her face was Botoxed beyond normal human endurance, proving that even pampered, overpaid news babes possess the courage to suffer for their art. Posted by: wv on September 6, 2006 03:14 PM from NYTimes September 6, 2006 By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS LONDON (AP) -- Six junior members of British Prime Minister Tony Blair's government resigned Wednesday to protest his refusal to set a date to leave office amid a growing Labour Party revolt. The rebellion flared despite strong hints by senior ministers that Blair planned to step down within a year, and a news report claiming the departure date would be July 26. ''I no longer believe that your remaining in office is in the interest of either the party or the country,'' Tom Watson, who was minister for veterans in the Ministry of Defense, said in a letter to the prime minister. Five lawmakers who serve as unpaid aides to government ministers also quit their posts rather than remove their names from a letter demanding Blair set a timeframe for his departure.

By RAY CLOSE Like many people, I find it extremely difficult to believe that President Bush could actually do anything so crazy as to launch a military attack against Iran, and that even if he wanted to, the Congress, the Pentagon, and the American public would ever countenance such action. But I remember in the spring of 2002 writing a "Dear Friends" memo just like this one predicting that the apparent intentions of the Bush Administration to invade Iraq would certainly turn out to be nothing but a bluff, and supporting that assertion by listing all the reasons why actually doing so would lead to utter disaster. Many of my friends told me at the time that I was missing the point --- regime change was DEFINITELY going to happen, and I was exaggerating the downside consequences. The problem is that today the downside risks of attacking Iran seem even more horrendous ---- and yet? (As George Will said last Sunday to George Stephanopoulos -- "When was the last time this president ever worried about getting approval in advance from the Congress or the public?") It makes me nervous when my president truly believes he is carrying out the will of God. http://www.counterpunch.org/close08262006.html Posted by: wv on September 6, 2006 04:40 PM

From DU: In separate announcements over the past few months, researchers at the University of Johannesburg and at Nanosolar, a private company in Palo Alto, have announced major breakthroughs in reducing the cost of solar electric cells. While trade journals are abuzz with the news, analysis of the potential implications has been sparse. Interesting...this solar lunar eclipse falls on 30 Virgo, which is my natal Neptune....also very interesting points on Steve Irwin's chart... I have been watching the DVD series called The 4400 (highly recommend)...all the 'abductees' by 'aliens' over the last 60 years are returned to earth together, 4400 of them. All with special although hidden talents. As the talents manifest, it changes situations and things around them in a ripple effect....for the good. I see Irwin that way...he came here with special talents and magnetized a generation of children and adults...with his leaving in such a way, his ripple effect could be huge. In fact, it will be.... Posted by: judigem on September 6, 2006 07:45 PMHi judigem I agree with you about Irwin and his work will continue through other people, particularly in the first instance through the folks that have worked with him, I suspect. Interestingly, the last few days Mercury has transited Virgo 17: Children Crowd Around the Orangutan Cage in a Zoo... how appropriate is this? His zoo attracted a huge following and tourists came from all over. With his death, huge numbers of people came to pay their respects and leave flowers and tributes at the gates. Of course, true to the nature of the Symbol, many of those people would have been "peering in" in some measure; trying to see what they could see within the confines of the zoo - signs of people that were close to Irwin. Further, there's been a crowding around the cage in terms of examining stingrays and whether they're dangerous or not. Politically I feel that Mercury on this degree is asking us what kind of zoo we live in... and, I imagine, that many people on this board feel like the leaders of the world are mostly 'chimps' - orangutans (people in monkey suits)... It's an interesting thought; we watch the 'chimps' throw their body refuse around - their 's***' - (and throw it at us).

Three From Clinton Administration Urge Disney to Cancel or Revise Sept. 11 Movie http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/07/washington/07path.html Three members of the Clinton administration have written the chairman of the Walt Disney Company, ABC's parent, to complain that the network’s coming two-part miniseries "The Path to 9/11" is fraught with factual errors and fabrications. ... One of the officials, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, said in her letter to the Disney chairman, Robert A. Iger, that although she had requested a copy of the film, ABC had not given her one. But, Ms. Albright said, she has been told by people who have seen it that it "depicts scenes that never happened, events that never took place, decisions that were never made and conversations that never occurred. Posted by: NEOBuckeye on September 7, 2006 06:27 AMInteresting... even the DNC is involved. Executive Director of Democratic Party slams Disney/ABC for "slanderous" fictional TV show about 9/11 This just in from the Democratic National Committee. I have not seen this kind of bitch-slapping coming out of the Democratic Party since the onset of the Bush administration six years ago. This is vicious. Well deserved, to be sure. But absolutely vicious. Particularly stunning is a paragraph buried in the middle of the open letter that can only be read as a direct threat against Disney/ABC's access to the airwaves: ABC is trying to use of the airwaves -- airwaves owned by you and me, and loaned to broadcasters as a public trust -- to slander Democrats and sell a slanderous, irresponsible fraud to the American people, and they're shamefully doing it just weeks away from Election Day. If Disney/ABC doesn't fully appreciate the enemy it is creating in the Democratic party, then heads need to roll at that firm because if I were a shareholder, I'd be considering a suit in a jiffy. Does a major national broadcast network want to stain itself by presenting an irresponsible, slanderous, fraudulent, "docu-drama" to the American public? Not if you and I have the last word -- but either way, we're about to find out. The ABC television network -- a cog in the Walt Disney empire -- unleashed a promotional blitz in the last week for a new "docudrama" called "The Path to 9/11". ABC has thrown its corporate might behind the two-night production, and bills it as a public service: a TV event, to quote the ABC tagline, "based on the 9/11 Commission Report". That's false. "The Path to 9/11" is actually a bald-faced attempt to slander Democrats and revise history right before Americans vote in a major election. The miniseries, which was put together by right-wing conservative writers, relies on the old GOP playbook of using terrorism to scare Americans. "The Path to 9/11" mocks the truth and dishonors the memory of 9/11 victims to serve a cheap, callous political agenda. It irresponsibly misrepresents the facts and completely distorts the truth. ABC/Disney executives need to hear from the public and understand that their abuse of the public trust comes with a cost. Tell Walt Disney CEO Robert Iger to keep this right-wing propaganda off the air -- we'll deliver your message: http://www.democrats.org/pathto911 Posted by: NEOBuckeye on September 7, 2006 06:29 AMhttp://americablog.blogspot.com/2006/09/executive-director-of-democratic-party.html Richard Clarke -- the counterterrorism czar for the Clinton administration, now himself a consultant to ABC News -- describes a key scene in "The Path to 9/11" as "180 degrees from what happened." In the scene, a CIA field agent places a phone call to get the go ahead to kill Osama Bin Laden, then in his sights, only to have a senior Clinton administration official refuse and hang up the phone. Sandy Berger, President Clinton's National Security Advisor, called the same scene "a total fabrication. It did not happen." And Roger Cressey, a top Bush and Clinton counterterrorism official, said it was "something straight out of Disney and fantasyland. It's factually wrong. And that's shameful." Another scene revives the old right-wing myth that press reporting made it impossible to track Osama bin Laden, accusing the Washington Post of blowing the secret that American intelligence tracked his satellite phone calls. In reality, responsibility for that blunder -- contrary to "The Path to 9/11" -- rests with none other than the arch-conservative Washington Times. The former National Security Council head of counterterrorism says that President Clinton "approved every request made of him by the CIA and the U.S. military involving using force against bin Laden and al-Qaeda," and the 9/11 report says the CIA had full authority from President Clinton to strike Bin Laden. Yet chief "Path to 9/11" scriptwriter Cyrus Nowrasteh, a friend of Rush Limbaugh, says the miniseries shows how President Clinton had "frequent opportunities in the '90s to stop Bin Laden in his tracks -- but lacked the will to do so." I was recently watching C-SPAN2 coverage of the U.S. Senate where Senator Harkin was calmly, grandfatherlike, or old family friend who you know you can trust, pointing out the errors in the ways of the War on Iraq. I have seen Senator Harkin speaking on tv in various fora, always the kindly old progressive guy, Midwest Middle America roots, communicating simply, eloquently, with firm compassion and able intelligence. So why have I never seen a campaign for Harkin for President? He has the whole package, well over the other candidates I've seen touted. He seems much more likely to win than the Kerry/H. Saturn will be squaring their Mars at the same time it Squares Clinton's Moon, this could be a big fight between ABC and Clinton and one that last's for quite a while. Today's eclipse squares ABC's Venus, I don't think ABC is going to be well received for right now. Their Jupiter at 28 Sag and Sun at 29 Aries will soon have Pluto conj and Trine those points, so I rather expect ABC to have a good year in programming in 2007/2008 and an opportunity to raise their ratings, I just don't think it will be on this docu-drama. Posted by: Sally on September 7, 2006 04:26 PMHere's another way to make yourselves heard on ABC's docu fiction on 911: Hum, 15 Virgo/Pisces..........what time today? And here is additional information to use to contact ABC and its affiliates about the "Mocumentary" Please take the time to add your $.02 ;o) stevegilliard.blogspot.com/2006/09/more-on-path-to-football.html Posted by: on September 7, 2006 05:08 PMThe difference between the 911 docu-drama and Farenheit 911 is that one is a docu-"drama" and the other is a very subjective documentary but one which relied on footage of real events and real interviews. (Documentaries are almost always subjective, by the way, because there is an emphasis on certain selective facts and events) A docu-drama never pretends to be an exact re-enactment, but does it have the right to make things up? Maybe this cannot be helped (or stopped) when it comes to long past events, but for recent events where memories are still fresh and participants are still alive, then Disney is asking for a lot of trouble. I think Disney has a major fight on its hands with lots of negative publicity repercussions. Common sense they would retreat on this one but I'm glad it's backed up by astrology, Sally. Posted by: Sharon on September 7, 2006 05:25 PMSorry about that link to ABC and Disney contact info. Here it is for your "clickable" pleasure: http://www.stevegilliard.blogspot.com/2006/09/more-on-path-to-football.html Please respond to ABC and your local affiliate(s). Disney has admitted that it is a fictionalized version and its answer to this massive misrepresentation is to have a voice over or banner disclaimer. But you need to read the disclaimer: Here it is from Josh Marshall at Talking Points: ABC's disclaimer, which they say will run "throughout" their 9/11 movie ... The following movie is a dramatization that is drawn from a variety of sources including the 9/11 Commission Report and other published materials, and from personal interviews. The movie is not a documentary. For dramatic and narrative purposes, the movie contains fictionalized scenes, composite and representative characters and dialogue, as well as time compression. Network officials have sent a statement affiliates are supposed to read to viewers who write in or call to complain. And basically the statement is just a recitation of this disclaimer. As you can see, this will NOT ameliorate the damage and the misrepresentation. (You know how it is in a jury trial when a lawyer or witness makes an objectionable statement and the judge instructs the jury not to pay any attention to what was said. Sure, great instruction, but no one really expects the jury to forget it because it's not human nature) No one is going to think that the FACTS are fictionalized. They are going to think that the fictionalized part refers to technical stuff - - like "time compression." Where it took 1 month for something to happen, the mocumentary shows it happening within a week. PLEASE someone tell me why we need a fictionalized account of 9/11 if it is not for propaganda purposes. You know get the american public back on track, on message and scared witless. Last Updated: Thursday, September 7, 2006 | 4:13 PM ET More than one-third of the planet systems known to exist outside of the solar system could contain Earth-like planets, according to a new computer model. The computer simulations, conducted by researchers at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Pennsylvania State University, suggest such planets — even those with water — could be more common than previously thought. The research, to be published in Friday's edition of the journal Science, focuses on a type of planet called a Hot Jupiter, a gas giant that orbits very near its parent star — even closer than Mercury orbits its star, the sun. http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2006/09/07/planet-simulation.html Know anyone who's having a baby? That was the job of the Commission to Assess the Threat to the U.S. from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack. Thursday September 7, 2006 Observer.co.uk One person, one vote. Count the totals. The one with the most wins. The beauty of democracy is its simplicity and its inherent fairness. It equalises everyone, even as it empowers everyone. What could go wrong? In America, it turns out, quite a lot. Which makes the fact that America's system of voting is now even more suspect, more complicated, and more open to abuse than ever before so utterly shocking. Across the country a bewildering series of scandals or dubious practises are proliferating beyond control. The prospect of a 'second Florida' is now more likely not less. There are many - and not all of them are conspiracy theorists - who believed it may have happened in Ohio in 2004. http://observer.guardian.co.uk/print/0,,329571094-111336,00.html

Gaza is dying. The Israeli siege of the Palestinian enclave is so tight that its people are on the edge of starvation. Here on the shores of the Mediterranean a great tragedy is taking place that is being ignored because the world's attention has been diverted by wars in Lebanon and Iraq. A whole society is being destroyed. There are 1.5 million Palestinians imprisoned in the most heavily populated area in the world. Israel has stopped all trade. It has even forbidden fishermen to go far from the shore so they wade into the surf to try vainly to catch fish with hand-thrown nets. Many people are being killed by Israeli incursions that occur every day by land and air. A total of 262 people have been killed and 1,200 wounded, of whom 60 had arms or legs amputated, since 25 June, says Dr Juma al-Saqa, the director of the al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City which is fast running out of medicine. Of these, 64 were children and 26 women. This bloody conflict in Gaza has so far received only a fraction of the attention given by the international media to the war in Lebanon. It was on 25 June that the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit was taken captive and two other soldiers were killed by Palestinian militants who used a tunnel to get out of the Gaza Strip. In the aftermath of this, writes Gideon Levy in the daily Haaretz, the Israeli army "has been rampaging through Gaza - there's no other word to describe it - killing and demolishing, bombing and shelling, indiscriminately". Gaza has essentially been reoccupied since Israeli troops and tanks come and go at will. In the northern district of Shajhayeh they took over several houses last week and stayed five days. By the time they withdrew, 22 Palestinians had been killed, three houses were destroyed and groves of olive, citrus and almond trees had been bulldozed. http://news.independent.co.uk/world/middle_east/article1372026.ece Posted by: wv on September 8, 2006 02:40 AM* Pollster Pleads Guilty to Making Up Results AP BRIDGEPORT, Conn. James Bamford, an author and journalist who has written about security issues, appeared on MSNBC to discuss "The Path to 9/11." Bamford revealed that an FBI agent who worked as a consultant to the film quit halfway through production of the mini-series because he believed the writers and producers were "making things up." Follow the link to Think Progress if you want to see the segment. Meanwhile, Bill Clinton has entered the fray: A furious Bill Clinton is warning ABC that its mini-series "The Path to 9/11" grossly misreps his pursuit of Osama bin Laden - & he is demanding the network "pull the drama" if changes aren't made. Clinton pointedly refuted several fictionalized scenes that he claims insinuate he was too distracted by the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal to care about bin Laden & that a top adviser pulled the plug on CIA ops who were just moments away from bagging the terror master, according to a letter to ABC boss Bob Iger obtained by The Post. The former president also disputed the portrayal of then-Sec of State Madeleine Albright as having tipped off Pakistani officials that a strike was coming, giving bin Laden a chance to flee. "The content of this drama is factually & incontrovertibly inaccurate & ABC has the duty to fully correct all errors or pull the drama entirely," the 4-page letter said. It's amazing how ABC/Disney are letting their brands be tarnished in this fashion. And unnecessarily so. An accurate depiction of the events leading up to 9/11 is drama enough. There was no need to fictionalize key scenes. But crazy things happen when someone has an agenda, & ABC/Disney is reaping their just rewards. ... http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/9/7/125924/3963 Posted by: JoannaOregon on September 8, 2006 03:41 AMSteve Judd... 8 September - I’m going to get into trouble for this... Three days to the 9/11 anniversary, & where are we? Still surrounded by constant spin designed to limit, constrict & suppress people thinking for themselves – this is Orwell country, believe it. I still maintain that 9/11 was planned & promulgated by a combination of Israeli Zionists, American right wing pentagon military junkies & fundamentalist xians. I still think that the ‘war on terror’ is a fallacy, & that the natural good that lies within us all will prevail. And I still believe in a beautiful planet with beautiful people, unaffected by a drive for control or power, instead re-enchanted & re-empowered by the light & dark of your own intuitive link with the divine, however you conceive it to be. Don’t believe the hype, believe yourself. 7 September - This full Moon is not what it seems. Ignore the hype, it’s not an eclipse except in the broadest of terms, whilst the new Moon of 2 wks time certainly is. But the full Moon is conjunct Uranus, the change-bringer. I seem to remember writing about a month ago of how Sept would bring changes for the big boys. I take no pleasure in watching Blair fight for his political life, knowing that he’s doomed & it’s only a matter of brief time. But I mourn for what he & his American guru have done to the sanctity of our beautiful planet & its inhabitants, & the fragmentation & disenchantment they leave behind. I say let’s re-enchant the world again, & bring an element of magic back into our lives. But his team tease that there will be surprises, 10x bigger than the decision that announced his arrival as chancellor in 1997, giving independence to the Bank of England. In prep for his accession, Mr Brown's advisors are taking a fresh look at policies that are well outside the normal remit of a chancellor, from Iraq to law/order, from House of Lords reform to climate change. As well as policy, they are looking at the restoration of trust, winning back the confidence of the party/public, in part by ditching govt spin-doctors & restoring the role to civil servants. They see the trust being rebuilt in other ways too, such as the proposal floated by his team last year of giving parliament a statutory right over any decision to go to war. ... http://politics.guardian.co.uk/labourleadership/story/0,,1867422,00.html Posted by: JoannaOregon on September 8, 2006 08:01 AMSally...Scholastic has pulled ALL the school books on the 9/11 docudrama....!
