DOES ANYONE SEE BLUE SKY
Oh my, we talk and talk and talk and what happens? Nothing! The country has raged against NSA and the GOP Senate has given the phone companies a pass on a Senate investigation. Orin Hatch has assurances from Dick Cheney that they will be careful. So there you have it, they will be careful. I am so sorry we had to use the name "Tricky Dick" on Nixon, it so fits here. Immigrants are pouring over the border without any checks or balances (a deal struck by Vincenti Fox and our own GWB) that would be a 9th house matter. America's 9th House is ruled by Leo and housing our Virgo Neptune. Chances are the "deal" was cut when Saturn was conjunct the US Sun (and GWB's) and we started find out the situation when Pluto opposed the US Mars (destruction of the country from without) and squared the US Neptune (slipping in unobserved) I realize there are a couple of views of illegals coming over the border and once again the government has us fighting on a divisive issue. But while there are families trying to make a living coming over those borders, there are also drug dealers, criminals and possibly terrorists. Plus we are discussing giving them expanded services that American citizens cannot receive. The Hispanic population is estimated to triple over the next 5 years, do we have the infrastructure, the schools, the medical facilities and do we have the money to develop those things? We don't right now. It isn't a matter if people are for or against the influx of immigrants, it's a matter of tracking and making sure they aren't enslaved by the multi-nationals. With Pluto having gone over that US Mars and Neptune square, we absolutely must begin working to look at things in a new light, not based on past historical idealism and we must examine our politicians the same way. Pollution, global warming, corruption, Iraq, Iran, health care, even our food are areas where we as a nation are being attacked, and global warming may be the number one issue on the world's plate and the US will have to be held accountable for their part in this. Mars rules the 4th house in the US chart and Pluto was opposing Mars last August when Katrina hit and destroyed an American city. Mother Nature rattled our home, our foundation. In a few short years Pluto will be opposing the US Venus, ruler of the 10 house, erasing the reputation of power, carefully built over the last 200 plus years. These are opportunities to begin being part of laying the groundwork for something better as we move forward. The Constitution Amendment to make bigotry against gays a constitutional law has been thankfully defeated. The next push for the religious right will be, of course, Roe v. Wade. That's what the religious right wants and end to irresponsible pregnancies and irresponsible abortions. Actually I've never known anyone who had an irresponsible abortion, but they tell me those type of women are out there in droves. My answer to those "irresponsible women with irresponsible pregancies" is to register by their DNA every single solitary penis in the country or even world so we can track down the "irresponsible" penis who helped create all those pregnancies. Track them down and make them responsible. My guess would be that those penis' would start thinking for themselves and even voting. This would be better than the draft to get young and old men interested in the type of leadership we have in Congress. As I have explained before, in a two term presidency I always watch the first Inaugural Chart because usually that is the time an 8 year agenda is set. The next 4 years and if re-elected the following 4 years will be focused on carrying out that initial agenda. The following Inaugural Chart shows what has been done and additional nuances in carrying out the original agenda. This administration brought men and women on board who served with his father, they had 8 years to hone their ideas and what would be the issues they would address and made it clear there would be no changes. That said, I am looking at the 2001 Inauguration Chart of George W. Bush and it reveals some real kernals that don't necessarily bode well for their original intentions. On January 20, 2001 the Midheaven was Capricorn ruled by Saturn (our leader) and Saturn was in the first house retrograde at 24 degrees 5 minutes Taurus (very close to the 20 year grand conjunction of Jupiter/Saturn at 22 Taurus) Saturn went direct on May 12, 2005 the day Democrats demanded an explanation of the Downing Street Memo. When a planet in a chart goes direct by progression, things change for the person or country. (remember that when US Mars goes retrograde by progression this July.) In this instance things did not change for the better for this administration. From May 12, 2005 it's been a steady decrease in popularity as indicated by the polls. The Downing Street Memo debacle gave way to more disaster in Iraq, followed by Cindy Sheehan, with Katrina right on the heels of awakening US disgust, topped off by Dubai and Illegal Immigrants. The 2001 Inaugural progressed Mercury has been squaring that direct Saturn bringing wave after wave of bad news for this administration, and that square will still be operational when Mars and then Saturn come around to 24 degrees Leo setting us a difficult and restrictive T-square to this administration. Another example of the progressed Mercury square progressed Saturn in the Inaugural chart is the attempt to restrict the internet, however Solar Arc Uranus coming to the square in two years will put a stop to that. There are new leaders on the horizon in 1006 and DIFFERENT new leaders in 2008. This weekend I will dissect Congress, because the people will be ready to dissect them. They say the "cultural of corruption" isn't the number one thing on the electorates mind and that is true. However subconsciously it will have an impact when they go to vote, particularly as they see this next quarter of economic growth begin to crash and we will be pulled with it. Mr. President has a grand water trine this month hitting his Sun with Jupiter and retrograde Uranus at 12 degrees of the water signs. His fortunes will, for a brief time go from god awful to just horrific in the next couple of weeks. The summer hasn't even begun.

Posted by: Larry on June 8, 2006 01:29 AMWhat I find so painful about the immigration question is that all of the hate and blame are put on poor immigrants who just want to have a job and a place to eat. Most would probably prefer to stay at home, but our NAFTA CAFTA, and god knows what else policies have decimated both local jobs and the local safety net. Part of the neo-con economic system is to discourage investment in education, infrastructure, and social services for the poor because there is not enough profit in taking care of the regular working people. But talking about our dysfunctional immigration system (takes 18 years to get a visa from Mexico, and fourteen years or more to become a U.S. citizen, the cases from 1986 that are still pending, and the massive cost to get legal papers) is taboo. Talking about our "free to starve" trade policies that decimate local businesses that simply can't compete with the cheap stuff dumped by China and the Wallmarts of the world is taboo. Nor can we discuss our upholding south of the border elites who call anyone communist who suggests opening up the social system so that regular people have a chance. So we talk about Atzalan (it's a fantasy, like the Black Muslim dream to taking several states for an independent nation), Mexican flags, and how we hate America going bi-lingual. Published on Wednesday, June 7 2006 by The Nation Citizens 1, Corporations 0 by John Nichols In states across the country Tuesday, primary elections named candidates for Congress, governorships and other important offices. But the most interesting, and perhaps significant, election did not involve an individual. Rather, it was about an idea. In Northern California's Humboldt County, voters decided by a 55-45 margin that corporations do not have the same rights -- based on the supposed "personhood" of the combines -- as citizens when it comes to participating in local political campaigns. Until Tuesday in Humboldt County, corporations were able to claim citizenship rights, as they do elsewhere in the United States. In the context of electoral politics, corporations that were not headquartered in the county took advantage of the same rules that allowed individuals who are not residents to make campaign contributions in order to influence local campaigns. But, with the passage of Measure T, an initiative referendum that was placed on the ballot by Humboldt County residents, voters have signaled that they want out-of-town corporations barred from meddling in local elections. http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_richard__060607_saint_ann_coulter_2c_t.htm Another great article. Carol, I agree. There is a lot of hate directed at immigrants. I don't understand this. My father's side of the family came over from Poland (at least the part of Germany that is Poland) in 1903. They endured the Atlantic crossing and Ellis Island. They weren't considered the "best" immigrants either since they came from Eastern Europe and were Catholic and were not from England or Sweden or Norway. Immigrants from those countries were considered the most desirable. My point is that everyone, even Native Americans, if one goes back far enough, came from somewhere else. My only issue with immigration is the "illegal" part. So many who have come before went through all the hoops and earned the right to stay in this country without breaking a law right off the mark that it just seems like a slap in the face to them when others do not do the same. Immigrants have added immensely to the richness of this country (not just to the corporate elite but to all of us). I don't know what the answer is but the feds haven't found it yet. My personal inclination is to do away with quotas from each country and just do a first come first served. Silly me, I still believe in the poem on the Statue of Liberty. Yesterday I reported on President Bush's White House speech in support of the anti-gay marriage scam called the Marriage Protection Amendment, and how the NY Post said that a Bush pal told Newsweek that the president is using this purely as a political ploy, and couldn't "give a shit" about whether gays marry or not. That Bush is politicizing the issue, or that he's lying about it, is surely enough to anger and frustrate. Posted by: M. on June 8, 2006 04:23 AMJo, I don't know if they are "Lou Dobbs talking points" however there are a ton of articles out there effectively giving both sides of the issue. I am concerned about the detention centers because they are being build on the border states in the West and they are being built close to the borders. They are built to house up to 5000 inmates, I don't see much good coming from the need to add to a prison system which is already the largest prison system in the world. PQ a grand trine of any modality is and can be a good thing, and if one has been experiencing a period of travail tensions can lighten up a bit. However, he doesn't have a grand trine in his chart for this aspect to activate, this grand trine sets off GWB's Sun/Moon square, and activating his childhood parental fears (Sun in the 12th) or to behave childishly and internally feeling good about it. It won't lift the heaviness of Saturn on his Ascendant or Mercury. George is like the 2 year old who places a cover over his head and says "you can't see me." In the US chart, this grand water trine aspects the US Sun, but sets off the Sun/Saturn square giving people a desire to do something about the issues in this country but not knowing what to do, beleving it can all be fixed by the 2006 election, or by someone else. The most interesting piece of this configuration is the possibility that the collective consciousness in the US will believe they need and must have something new. Saturn will also go over the US North Node and that often signals a "new day dawning." I don't mean immediately but transiting Mars will be right there with transiting Saturn over the US NN. Mars is restricted energy until it pulls away and then there is a "kick" in energy and this case it will be a kick toward new energy. And gosh, did your mother practice in San Mateo County? Because they have really made it hard to be astrologers...all sorts of barriers, arrest, taxes, etc.... I loved Hickey's work.... Yesterday was my birthday, and I had to talk to the IRS about 10 year old taxes....which I did, after being on hold for 2 periods of 20 min. each, and the guy I first talked to said "Awwwwwww, its your birthday and you are on hold with the IRS? " It just so happened that I was born at 4:10 pm, and it was 4:14 pm just then, so I said, yeh....and you are the first person I've talked to since turning 63! The sad news was that the family priest who married my daughter, who had married her husband's parents and siblings and pbabtized all the children, died the morning of June 7 (Stan, June 6, 1983- the day before my 40th birthday - I was fired from my job and my dog died - so that energy was, how you say, intense. I also love your analysis and focus on looking at people as generational influences!) What was interesting in terms of the group dynamics of this is that he died on my birthday, June 7.....and my son in law's parents were planning to be remarried - you know, as a re-vow kind of thing- next Jan 14, which would be something like their 45th or 50th wedding anniversary....but that is also the birthday of my ex, my daughter's dad....so what are the odds on that? Well....in astrology, the odds are different than in playing the lottery, that is for sure....as this family goes 'by the numbers' and I suspect most families do, as DO THE POLITICAL numbers. (I see the 'death' of Zarq on June 7, if that is when it was, as significant....that is the death day of Mohammed.) Sally...you told me almost 2 years that the next two years would be difficult with Saturn in transit over Jupiter, Midleaven and Venus and Pluto, and you were so right. But as soon as Saturn moved off my 5 Leo Pluto over a week ago, 18 months of almost no work ended (PQ - you and I are being revived! Your portrait is divine)...and I am working again. Now Saturn heads for my Moon, and Sally, I would bet this is about my mother, as the rest home said that she has requested that they read the Bible to her, the Psalms, etc...it signals something quite significant to me, that she (at 97) is in need of comfort of the spiritual type....I never thought I would see it. It is thrilling.....and enlightening. jm...I appreciate your words to PQ...she has been thru a lot. I really like the conversation on the trines....it makes total sense. I have trines and no squares, almost all conjunctions, only one wide opposition, and I do NOT handle adversity well....! whoever wrote that was right on.... I was also confused earlier about squares being aspects which were actually good...until Joanna O explained to me that it is because they bring action....and that makes sense..... The outstanding feature in her chart is Sun conjunct Jupiter in Scorpio, showing her to be fairly lucky, protected, & imaginative. She believes more in what a person does than what they say, which probably is making her an unhappy camper right now, given that if character is her "god," she cannot be pleased with the behavior of her husband the Incompetent-In-Chief, who has shown he has zero character & lousy morals, besides being very unstable & meanspirited. Whatever we're not being told by the press, there are some tensions going on around the bush home. According to a reliable source, she was born 4 Nov 1946, 6 pm, at Midland TX. This puts her Moon at 15 Pisces. Uranus is in a close conjunction to her Moon, & will be for some time to come. This usually creats some very bizarre conditions & heightened tensions in the home & family life. She has no doubt been hit with unexpected & bizarre news of some sort, as this aspect usually indicates some very erratic behavior on her part or the part of someone in her family. Her family & emotional life are in radical revolution as we speak. It shows right now she's under a ton of stress, & things are fairly crazy in her life due to Uranus also triseptiling her Neptune & biseptiling her Mercury conj Venus retrograde in early Sagittarius in the 7th house. Some fear the decision will mean net providers start deciding on behalf of customers which websites and services they can visit and use. The vote is a defeat for Google, eBay and Amazon which wanted the net neutrality principle protected by law. All three mounted vigorous lobbying campaigns prior to the vote in the House of Representatives. Tier fear The rejection of the principle of net neutrality came during a debate on the wide-ranging Communications Opportunity, Promotion and Enhancement Act (Cope Act). Among other things, this aims to make it easier for telecoms firms to offer video services around America by replacing 30,000 local franchise boards with a national system overseen by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Representative Fred Upton, head of the House telecommunications subcommittee, said competition could mean people save $30 to $40 each month on their net access fees. An amendment to the Act tried to add clauses that would demand net service firms treat equally all the data passing through their cables. The amendment was thought to be needed after the FCC ripped up its rules that guaranteed net neutrality. More.... Posted by: Pat C on June 9, 2006 01:57 PMThank you, Sally, and commenters, all. Sally, the ACLU is suing the Bush administration in federal court, claiming that the NSA wiretapping is illegal. This is going to be interesting because the case will have to be defended by Justice Dept. lawyers (whom the Bush administration says they can't confide in or give security clearance to--because it is so hush-hush only Uncle Dick and Torture-is-OK Gonzales can know what is really going on.) The great cartoonist Mike Luckovitch drew a cartoon of Bush cutting up the Constitution into a strip of letters that read "Trust Me." Anyhow, I looked up the ACLU's chart and after some starts as an anti-war (WW One) group, it was chartered as the ACLU in NYC on Jan. 19, 1920. I was hoping to contribute some brilliant insights but the only things I noticed is that the ACLU progressed Sun is now around 0 degrees Taurus (that most tenacious sign) in the 2000 Inaug 12th House. And that the ACLU progressed Mars is now at 1 degree Scorpio (the detective) in the Inaug 6th House. Posted by: Barbara on June 9, 2006 05:57 PM

The principal reason that the Bush administration has been able to impose its radical theories of lawbreaking on the country is because Congress, with an unseemly eagerness, has permitted itself to be humiliated over and over by an administration which does not hide its contempt for the notion that Congress has any role to play in limiting and checking the executive branch. And few people have more vividly illustrated that institutional debasement than Arlen Specter, who, along with Pat Roberts, has done more than anyone else to ensure that Congress completely relinquishes its constitutional powers to the President. Congressional abdication is so uniquely damaging because the Founders assumed that Congress would naturally and instinctively resist encroachments by the executive, and the resulting institutional tension -- the inevitable struggle for power between the branches -- is what would preserve governmental balance and prevent true abuses of power. But for the last five years, Congress has done the opposite of what the Founders envisioned. They have meekly submitted to the almost total elimination of their role in our Government and have quietly accepted consolidation of their powers in the President. If the Congress is unmoved by their constitutional responsibilities, then at least basic human dignity ought to compel them to object to the administration's contempt for the laws they pass. After all, the laws which the administration claims it can ignore and has been breaking are their laws. The Senate passed FISA by a vote of 95-1, and the McCain torture ban by a vote of 90-9, and it is those laws which the President is proclaiming he will simply ignore. And yet not only have they not objected, they have endorsed and even celebrated the President's claimed power to ignore the laws passed by Congress. And that failure, more than anything else, is what has brought us to the real constitutional crisis we face as a result of having a President who claims the power to operate outside of, and above, the law. I’m sure there’s a perfectly good explanation for this. There always is. As ever, it underscores the need for verifiable elections, and begins to remind us that the folks who give a damn about this down there in San Diego County better damned well be keeping an eye on the chain of custody for those paper ballots and “paper trails” as they are being theoretically “counted” by the SD County Registrar of Voters. According to this web page from the SD County’s Registrar of Voters office, as of 5pm last night, the number of uncounted absentee and provisional ballots in the entire county of SD has decreased by 2,000 from the reported 68,500 that were announced as “still to be counted” on election night. The number of votes in the now-questionable Busby/Bilbray U.S. House (CA-50) special election, however, has been increased by 8,000 votes. Since the number of votes in the CA-50 race is a smaller subset of the total votes within SD County, one would think that if 2,000 absentee or provisionals were counted for the entire county, the number of votes in CA-50 might go up by a fraction of that number. Instead, they’ve gone up by 8,000, according to the county’s website! So far, I’ve been unable to get any comments from “quotable sources” at the Registrar’s office on the reported updates. Very few in the office, apparently, are allowed to speak on record to the press for some reason. As mentioned, no doubt there’s a perfectly good explanation for all of this. Right? It’s just that you and I may never know it. And, if we do, the election officials will likely never have to prove that their explanation—or the veracity of their reported vote counts—is valid. Posted by: JoannaOregon on June 10, 2006 07:51 AMI read a prediction somewhere at the beginning of the year that there would be discoveries leading to a major breakthrough in our understanding of a unified field theory which would bring the sciences together. This prognosticator, using intuition and some psychic ability, made a few other predictions which have been on the mark from what I remember. I'm sure this prediciton has been made before, though, so who knows. I think that science is very fascinating, but the precursor philosophical foundations and cosmology have been around a while. Immanuel Kant, "father" of the enlightenment, first explained that time and space were "a priori" intrinsic constructs of the human mind, and that our understanding of the physical world we experience are inherently limited by the way our minds are constructed as part of the human condition. The Copernican revolution which he detailed placed the observer or individual at the center of all science and knowledge (epistemology), such that they are interrelated and codependent. Hence, all knowledge of scientific fact is human and interdependent with/on the human condition. A much better explanation can be found at: The possibility of *physical* dimensions beyond 3D space + time is fascinating to consider, but we still don't have the language of science to explain it, much less conceptualize it convincingly. When I think about little black holes in my back yard, it provides additional evidence of knowledge most intuitive and open-minded individuals feel but cannot explain - that there are other dimensions and realms of existence which we cannot grasp due to the inherent limitations of our existence. I think astrology, metaphysics, literature and possibly other esoteric or new disciplines hold much promise to explore, describe and advance what we cannot know through the rational mind. It seems to me, as I try to wrap my rambling up into something worth sharing, is that our potential to actually explore these discoveries and theories of other dimensions is through the metaphysical, since we cannot directly experience and understand these alternative universes through our conscious mind, except through imagination, art and literature. So now that science has given us little black holes, what do we do with them? Sagittarius represents idealism, faith, enthusiasm, the quest for meaning, and a generosity of spirit. The Full Moon in Sagittarius is an invitation to bask in the light of some good old-fashioned Jupiterian optimism and joy! This Full Moon represents the union of the physical and the spiritual in the search for knowledge. Sagittarius wants to understand the totality of existence through "journeying" in all its forms. This sign loves to travel abroad to foreign lands or armchair travel with books and on the Internet. It also loves to move through the spirit realms, and use the mind to uncover deeper levels of the psyche or theorize about philosophical and moral issues. By ADAM NAGOURNEY There were the bloggers — nearly a thousand of them, many of them familiar names by now — emerging from the shadows of their computers for a three-day blur of workshops, panels and speeches about politics, the power of the Internet and the shortcomings of the Washington media. And right behind them was a parade of prospective Democratic presidential candidates and party leaders, their presence a tribute to just how much the often rowdy voices of the Web have been absorbed into the very political process they frequently disdain, much to the amazement, and perhaps discomfort, of some of the bloggers themselves. Posted by: wv on June 10, 2006 02:26 PMSpeaking of the piece on "Full Moon in Sagittarius," we DO have better words to try & describe inner events, or at least it seems so to me. Scared me "to death" as I thot at last I was going crazy. T uranus was conj N neptune/libra in 12th, squaring N moon/cancer in 9th--all exact at 8 deg. I sat until time for dinner & still hadn't gone over the edge. But I wasn't so afraid anymore & had learned a thing or two about fear & "permission." I'll never forget that experience. I'm still unsure about the nature of black holes in an astrological or metaphysical context, and what the ontology for these phenomena could be. It seems to me that, intuitively, the aspect rules for black holes as antimatter would be reversed from those which apply to celestial bodies, perhaps based on their location in the zodiac and size. Stressful aspects might be positive, for example. How would a trine to a black hole manifest? More importantly, since black holes can not be observed with the naked eye, do the aspects of astrology even apply to these invisible entities? Maybe their invisibility offers a unique opportunity to integrate other dimensions into astrology? Since there is no mythology or oral tradition to give black holes a context, it seems astrologers today have abundant raw material to further expand their body of knowledge. If black holes can coincidentally be associated with experiences and phenomena for which there are no clear, traditional astrological explanations, the nature of those realtionships demand further study. In philospphy, black holes could be associated with nothingness, a very existentialist concept (se Sartre, Kierkegaard, et al). That, at least, is a starting point. In everyday life, we have all met people who seem to suck the air/life out a room. Maybe they have large black holes which play a prominent role in their natal chart? Black holes are fantastically dynamic places! They are the ultimate attention-getter and the ultimate spitter-outer. Nothingness is like pre-birth, something we (and the philosophers especially filter through their egos) process as bad news.
On May 4, 2006 Congressman Dennis Kucinich gave a speech on the floor of the House which articulated the root causes for the massive violence in Iraq. He clearly linked the Bush administration to the death squad’s in Iraq. Reading from a long list of newspaper articles he had compiled, Kucinich provided a detailed account of America’s disturbing undercover war. Naturally, his speech was shunned by the major media and consigned to the memory hole. Never the less, it outlines the extent of America’s complicity in the ongoing slaughter and asks us to question whether any additional involvement can be morally justified. Vague feelings of impending doom or salvation are often characterized by a Jupiter-Neptune square, and regardless of what seems to show itself, a corner is about to be turned that will affect the entire world. The mix of impending confrontation with something huge and hard to classify is being brought into acute focus by the Sun and Mercury both opposition Saturn at present. Given that Saturn in Leo is indicative of the authority of our illegal fascist administration attempting to solidify “kingly” powers in an attempt to turn our republic into an empire, we are seeing the Sun, source of integrity and life, in the freedom-loving sign of Aquarius, the world servant who will NEVER yield to the authority of earthly rulers, in direct opposition to this, challenging that “royal” usurpation of the people’s rights and liberties. An opposition between Leo and Aquarius is unyielding, producing awareness through confrontation. In our own country, this is exemplified by the opposition between those who value civil liberties and those who are attempting to justify why the people’s rights under the Constitution should be taken away by a dictatorial police state with powers to kidnap anyone anywhere any time, allow indefinite detention with no recourse to legal council, confronting accusers, or a speedy trial, and no ability even to tell others that this has been done. How Hispanics Became the New Gays That debate died on the floor of the Senate less than 48 hours later, when the amendment went down to an even worse defeat than expected. Washington instantly codified the moral: a desperate president at rock bottom in the polls went through the motions of a cynical and transparent charade to rally his base in an election year. Nothing was gained — even the president of the Family Policy Network branded Mr. Bush's pandering a ruse — and no harm was done. Except to gay people. That's why the president went out of his way to talk about "tolerance" at this rally, bizarrely held on the widely marked 25th anniversary of the first mention of an AIDS diagnosis in a federal report. Mr. Bush knew very well that his participation in this tired political stunt, while certain to have no effect on the Constitution, could harm innocent Americans. http://select.nytimes.com/2006/06/11/opinion/11rich.html?pagewanted=print Posted by: wv on June 11, 2006 05:50 PM

A destroyer of reputations, he is a legend at attacking his opponent where they are strongest, and will not hesitate to use every dishonest means to achieve his disgusting ends. Though we do not have his exact time of birth, we can do a Solar chart for December 25, 1950, for Denver, CO, and get a very accurate sense of what is, and is in store, for this corrupt man at the pinacle of power. A little backstory on this master of sabotage and gutter politics: Rove is a disciple of Lee Atwater, genuinely insane political animal who perfected the art of personal destruction of others who opposed him. Maybe that's why he died of a virulent form of brain cancer at a young age. We are told when dying he was regretful for the misdeeds he had done, but karma doesn't give people like Atwater or Rove a free pass. These guys' karma is lousy for many lives to come, since they should know better. Rove is trying to corrupt and ultimately destroy democracy. Most of these have been tied to developments in the Jan 20, 2004, inauguration chart. Others are connected with the 3/29 cluster involving the late March total solar eclipse. Today, the day I am writing this, the decay is evident, but there seems to have never been a more pressing need to hasten it. USA Today reported that AT&T, Verizon, & BellSouth have provided the NSA—the top-secret Natl Security Agency, which specializes in electronic surveillance & code-breaking—with records of the phone calls of millions of Americans. I say this with some concern that we need to take care when reporting potential global trouble spots, so as not to perpetuate the religion of Fearism. This is the little cousin of a religion with a more authoritative name, but he's a little brat & we need to keep an eye on him. However, it's worth bearing in mind that awareness is usually the one deciding factor on the Earth plane, even where luck is involved. An article has appeared on the front page relating to the upcoming summer solstice, which gives some of the details. I'm now looking at the date range of the Sun's northernmost extreme with new concern, & am corresponding with two of the best mundane astrologers I know & getting back some confirmation. Their methods are a little fancier than mine but we're getting the same basic info: something is up on those dates. Whatever is up involves the supposed killing of al-Zaquawi last week, who has ties to Iran; charts for Iran/Israel are involved. The solstice ... is the cosmic trigger. This was covered in an ASR edition called "From Beltane to Solstice" about 2 mos ago; my how spacetime flies. http://cainer.com/ericfrancis/may5.html To sum up: the Sun is about to oppose Pluto, then oppose the Galactic Core, then it will square the degree of the extremely powerful 9/22 solar eclipse, then it will square the lunar nodes & finally enter Cancer. This sets off a whole stack of Aries Pt charts that have been involved with everything we've witnessed in the world from 9/11 onward. The new chart in the mix was for the killing of this guy who is being billed as the leader of al-Queda in Iraq, al-Zaquawi. The weird thing is that the chart indicated something about to happen--not something that had already happened. There are two times (because of a time zone discrepancy) & no matter which one you use, you still get a situation where an aspect involving the ruler of the 1st or 7th house is about to make a major aspect. Getting AZ was a big deal, no matter how many veils have been thrown over it--two versions of the story, did they get him 3 wks ago, did he survive for a few moments or not, how did he survive, or how did his corpse survive, an explosion that left a 35' deep crater & flung debris more than 600' in every direction. On one level, astrology is pretty simple. Charts reveal themselves to be about things that happened or are about to happen. However you slice the AZ chart (Sag rising or Scorpio rising), something is coming. We have known this a while, but now we have an added puzzle piece. That is the AZ-Iran connection. As we know, American/European govts have been selling war with Iran for some time. I have a photo of a French mag cover from the winter doing just this; the French reads, "Nuclear: Tomorrow, war with Iran." ... http://planetwaves.net/ Posted by: JoannaOregon on June 11, 2006 09:18 PM"Nothingness is the most creative space you could possibly conceive of!" That's brilliant, pat b! The concept of "nothingness" and the philosophy of Existentialism are so much misunderstood. Existentialism is often thought of as a philosophy of despair, but Sartre was known to have said that he never felt a day of despair in his life. The thought of Nothingness of course is connected with Nietzsche's announcement of the "death of God," a thought also seldom understood. For Nietzsche the "death of God" was merely a metaphor for the end of the Platontic conception of an absolute Truth--a truth which we can only discover and have no part in shaping--a truth which the Church claimed possession of and thus used to enforce a millennia of authoritarianism that denied individuals the right to think for themselves. The Christian Right today in America are only the latest heirs and perhaps final consequence of this dogmatic thinking. Since the whole notion of an absolute Truth was the foundation upon which Western Culture was built, the "death of God" would at first seem to herald a great crisis, and this is what Nietzsche foretold for our time: "This long plenitude and sequence of breakdown, destruction, ruin, and cataclysm that is now impending--who could guess enough of it today to be compelled to play the teacher and advance proclaimer of this monstrous logic of terror, the prophet of a gloom and an eclipse of the sun whose like has probably never yet occurred on earth?" Notice the metaphor of an "eclispe of the sun." The Sun, of course, is the most important metaphor in the history of Western Thought. In Plato's famous allegory of the cave the Sun represents this absolute Truth. This passage at first sounds quite gloomy, but its title is actually "The meaning of our cheerfulness." Why does Nietzsche find a reason for cheerfulness after this eclispe of the sun? The answer is that it opens up our freedom, our freedom to think for ourselves, and the very possibility for taking responsiblity for the values that we have. As Nietzsche puts it at the end of that passage: "At long last the horizon appears free to us again, even if it should not be bright; at long last our ships may venture out again, venture out to face any danger; all the daring of the lover of knowledge is permitted again; the sea, our sea, lies open again; perhaps there has never yet been such an "open sea." One might also draw comparisons with this thought of Nothingness and the "death of God" to the Mahayana Buddhist conception of shunyata or emptiness, which is often similarly misunderstood as nihilistic. I think perhaps one manifestation of Pluto through Sag is that this thought might finally become better understood leading to an evolution of human consciousness. Posted by: Timothy on June 11, 2006 09:29 PMApplause, Timothy, mucho applause! You've said it so succinctly and so well. Nietzsche and the Existentialists are frequently misunderstood (and always negatively so). They opened the door to the most exhilirating freedom possible, yet Westerners were largely unprepared to cross that threshold.
I completely agree about the value of nothingness. This is one of the main tenets of Taoism. It's intrinsic to equilibrium and our society pushes forward nonstop to its great detriment. Being too busy is a great achievement whereas I think just the opposite. Doing nothing is just as great as reveals confidence. It's ebb and flow, diastolic/systolic, yin/yang, in and out, thrust and parry. "This long plenitude and sequence of breakdown, destruction, ruin, and cataclysm that is now impending--who could guess enough of it today to be compelled to play the teacher and advance proclaimer of this monstrous logic of terror, the prophet of a gloom and an eclipse of the sun whose like has probably never yet occurred on earth?" I am always perplexed by this belief in impending doom even though it rarely comes. Disasters are never as complete as thought. They come and go in a rhythm in localized ways. Trying to re-create Hitler with Bush was way beyond my comprehension. Maybe the fear of death is the reason. Pluto(death) through Sag(God) might be a step in this direction as you said, Timothy. The eventual disappearance of the almighty demon bent on destroying the human race. The outside force against us. Thanks, Shy . . . yes "the most exhilirating freedom possible" I think is what the best in Nietzsche's thought opens up. The furor over the "Da Vinci Code" is interesting to me because the underlying thesis of the "Code" is really Nietzsche's critique of Christianity--not the part about Mary Magdalene, but the more general point that there is more to the story than what we were told in the New Testament. Nietzsche's point is that we cannot pretend to have The Truth about what really happened and the meaning of the life of Christ. It might have been that the point of the life was just to follow the example of the life of Christ in being a loving human being. The "Kingdom of Heaven" may not have been something merely promised, something to come in the next life, but a reality here and now if we learn to follow the example. The meaning was thus perhaps in the life and the practice exemplified in the life. But then the Church Fathers, beginning with Paul, changed the focus from the life of Christ to the death on the cross. Instead of focusing on the practice and the example of the life, Christianity became a religion that promised eternal reward for correct belief. Instead of focusing on what one can give (being a loving human being) it focuses on what one can get (eternal reward), and of course what amounted to correct belief was accepting what the Church claimed was The Truth. Thus, according to Nietzsche: 'The very word “Christianity” is a misunderstanding: in truth, there was only one Christian, and he died on the cross. The “evangel” died on the cross. What has been called “evangel” from that moment was actually the opposite of that which he had lived: “ill tidings,” a dysangel. It is false to the point of nonsense to find the mark of the Christian in a “faith,” for instance, in the faith in redemption through Christ: only Christian practice, a life such as he lived who died on the cross, is Christian. Exactly, jm. The Tao is an empty vessel; is its used, but never filled. (Tao te Ching, 4) From above it is not bright; From Nothing come all things

Saturn 09 Leo 06 and Mars 10 Leo 45 occupy the 1st House. If I read my copy of the chart right, they oppose Chiron (r) which is 09 Aquarius 00 in the 7th House. There was talk that perhaps Saturn will curb the warlike Mars somewhat by some unknown expression of the will of the people. I do not recall what the meaning was of Chiron in this context (too busy trying to listen and take notes) but I do remember that Neptune at 19 Aquarius, also in the 7th, is unaspected, meaning it could be a wild card or some unforeseen player. There is no doubt that both Sartre and Nietzsche embraced the concept of nothingness as positive opportunity to strive for a higher self or greater awareness of our own existence. But despite the quote from Sartre, neither pretended that self-overcoming was a picnic or pleasurable experience. Striving to become the overman (Nietzsche) or striving for awareness of the other (Sartre) is/was certainly not for the faint of heart. Nietzsche urged people to not sleep comfortably (Zarathustra) and, indeed, he suffered in constant discomfort and pain for most of his life. Sartre, a celebrity in his time unlike Nietzsche, had the adoration of the "intelligentsia" of his day and, by most accounts, never seemed to live with the Sartrean hells (No exit) or nausea (Nausea) he described in his books or plays. He had no cause for personal despair. I'm reminded of the last scenes from the 1980 movie Altered States in which Professor Jessup (William Hurt), after barely escaping total physical and metaphysical regression in a series of isolation tank experiments, is saved by the love of his wife as he escapes from the hellish abyss of existential nothingness. As he stated (paraphrased), it is total absolute nothing - it is the void. Phew, it scared the bejeesus out of him (and me), and he even lived to talk about it. As for celebrating nothingness, I'm more of a pragmatist - my personal opinion is that it isn't what it's cracked up to be. I'd much rather live on Earth than on the event horizon of a baby black hole. And if there is one in my back yard, I want to fence it off with construction tape and glow sticks. I like my shoes, too, thank you very much, Philomena (a la Aeon Flux). Back to astrology, if we do associate black holes with nothingness in the existentialist tradition, would the conventional rules still apply? What kind of astrological stuff would black holes be, given the lack of mythology or tradition? Alex, in the few articles I have read by him, seems to associate the black holes with negative phenomena, although each has a different "reputation." It seems to me there is an abundant opportunity here to fill in gaps in our astrological knowledge of the universe. Maybe even add a new dimension or two to astrology, while the physicists work on membranes and superstrings. Michael Kohlhaas Posted by: Michael Kohlhaas on June 12, 2006 06:31 AMThe point is not to go to a lot of trouble and effort to embellish one's ego. The point is to define what morality is as an on-going, never-ending human activity. Read Simone de Beauvoir's "Ethics of Ambiguity." Michael, who said we associate black holes with nothingness in the existentialist tradition? I don't think black holes are nothingness. Aren't they just extremely dense areas of gravitational pull? They lack light which is why the moniker. I don't know if nothingness really exits in the material plane or if it does, if we can perceive it. It is conceptually the contrast to everythingness, fullness, and needs to be accepted to some extent I think. So much of our angst is the impossibility of filling the void, which I think needs contemplation. Emptying is the only way to really fill back up. We have countless losses in our lives to effect this, it seems. I think Shy is right in that existentialism belives in morality out of logic and choice, not some higher moral authority. Life is lived for its intrinsic value not watched and judged by an outside force. The force would be individual and internal. I think they dialogued endlessly on the source of morality. I think there was a lot of disagreement, some atheist, some agnostic, and some actually believed in god. They were a mixed bag. I haven't read "Ethics of Ambiguity" but if you think it would be helpful, maybe you could explain how it applies. Philo, I love your sense of humor. Pat b - I was tossing out ideas, thinking out loud. I'm glad you responded, but it wasn't a thesis or challenge. I suggested it could be a starting point for understanding black holes in astrology, since there is no mythology to refer back to that I am aware of. As for the physics of black holes, it seems difficult if not futile to anchor astrology to physics - to me, metaphysics is about expanding physics into the realm of the unknowable, while physics strives to make the unknown part of our understanding. Still, the physical properties of black holes may offer a clue as to how to characterize them in astrology. But if you want to remain faithful to physics, you could say that Saturn is about gas and rings of rock and ice, and Jupiter is a cyclops (I'm exaggerating here, of course). As for 'billboarding something dumb,' I'm not sure where you are going with that or why you chose to phrase it that way, or why you call them "your philosophers" - they are neither my philosophers nor yours. There is no ambivalence coming from my side, but if you are annoyed or upset, perhaps you could explain. jm, I appreciate your points and mostly agree. Sally posted a link earlier about membrane theory and the possibility of extra physical dimensions, and someone added black holes to the line of thought; so I added my 2 cents. The concern that I have about your explanation is deriving the astrology from metaphors of the physics - a physics which is incomplete and thinly understood, at best. That is one of the reasons why I suggested philosophy as a starting point for creating an understanding instead. Posted by: Michael Kohlhaas on June 12, 2006 08:06 AMAnon, I'm completely lost here. Where did I say anything about living forever? As an astrologer -- consultant -- the ethic is NOT to feed into the feed that is already inherent in the client -- as an astro-philosopher -- the object is to understand the human condition -- from ground zero -- beginning with oneself. Where do we draw the line? How many persons do we consul who have the same philosophical base or belief system as we have? My point being -- today, we cannot be the "saviors" of the times -- planets and otherwise. Goodnight ..... Posted by: Philomena on June 12, 2006 08:48 AMjm - interesting point about the black hole - I didn't know that the Moon was transiting one right now. Ultimately, astrology is conjecture, isn't it? It's an interpretive art based on rules derived from ... old discarded science (geocentric astronomy that died with Ptolemy centuries ago) ? ... or speculative consensus? The same can be said for philosophy, and even physics, no? Einstein was revered as a god less than 100 years ago, and now, well, much of his work has been dismissed. There is always a need for expansion and renewal in any body of knowledge. What I'm suggesting, and hoped to discuss openly, was the possibility for expanding our understanding of astrology. Just as science appears to be on the verge of new exciting discoveries (maybe a unified field theory, at last), astrology can possibly expand as well. It seems to me that astrology is inspired by, but not derived from, astronomy and science, and that astrologers (like Sally) pay close attention to what is going on. When a new theory is advanced or a new discovery made, astronomers and astrologers alike have the opportunity to add to their bodies of knowledge in their own way. Now this time it isn't Xena or some other remote little rock planet that we can assign some mythological personality to, it's about added dimensions, antimatter, black holes, etc. Except Bullfinch doesn't have any suggestions for characters. Now I guess you (not you personally, jm, or anyone else in particular) could play "old-school" and dismiss everything beyond Saturn as new-age hogwash, but eventually new ideas take hold and are assimilated. And if something big happens in astronomy, cosmology, science, or physics, then astrology has been, and should be, part of it as well. As for empirical rules, I think there is plenty of room for statistics, geography, and other quantitative methods to be used in, or become partnered with, astrology. But once the results are tabulated and the numbers crunched, there is still a value judgment, an opinion rendered, based on interpretation. And from most of the articles I have read here and elsewhere, the astrological interpretations aren't based on math or numbers, but relationships derived from simple angles between points along the circumference of a wheel, and a lot of experienced interpretation. Posted by: Michael Kohlhaas on June 12, 2006 08:58 AMThanks, Pat b, for explaining. I apologize for any misunderstanding. FWIW, I don't think Nietzsche voluntarily subjected himself to uncomfortable sleep despite his advice in Zarthustra. I recall that he was supposedly in very poor health for most his adult life and probably never slept well as a result. Anyway, enough about Nietzsche. What a great writer, though. I guess our miscommunication involves how we experience and describe nothingness - for you, it seems to be pleasurable, for me, I see despair. But nothingness, to me, isn't the peace of stilling the inner dialogue during meditation nor the total encompassing experience of orgasm such that one becomes detached. Nothingness is non-existence, which we don't experience until we die, depending on your religious/metaphysical beliefs. And by embracing that scary-as-$%^*! fact, we can better embrace our lives in the moment and live each moment as though it might be our last. At least that's what all the wise people say.... Michael, you bring to light a fascinating subject and one which I think all astrologers should continue to contemplate. I think astrology IS changing with the expanding knowledge as it has all along. It's vastly different from what it once was. I think right now it's going through a particularly big leap as science seems to be gaining ground and marrying the spiritual progressively. The empirical factor is the big one. You are absolutely correct in that subjective interpretation impinges on the empirical. The way I've arrived at my conclusions is experience and for me the proof has happened so many times, that it is empirical. But only for me. And that's where it gets difficult to apply to all circumstance. For example, when Katrina hit New Orleans, there was an exact planetary aspect that was perfectly descriptive of the event. Most astrologers recognize the validity in moments like this and it fuels the further pursuit of a science that does really have a lot of subjectivity and question marks. Some astrologers want to be exact so as to predict these events, some are satisfied with the interpretation. Those Pesky Voters The lesson out of Ohio (and Florida before it) is that the integrity of the election process needs to be more fiercely defended in the face of outrageous Republican assaults. Democrats, the media and ordinary voters need to fight back.

Posted by: Jill G on June 12, 2006 06:41 PMBush Administration Quietly Plans NAFTA Super Highway Quietly but systematically, the Bush Administration is advancing the plan to build a huge NAFTA Super Highway, four football-fields-wide, through the heart of the U.S. along Interstate 35, from the Mexican border at Laredo, Tex., to the Canadian border north of Duluth, Minn. Once complete, the new road will allow containers from the Far East to enter the United States through the Mexican port of Lazaro Cardenas, bypassing the Longshoreman’s Union in the process. The Mexican trucks, without the involvement of the Teamsters Union, will drive on what will be the nation’s most modern highway straight into the heart of America. The Mexican trucks will cross border in FAST lanes, checked only electronically by the new “SENTRI” system. The first customs stop will be a Mexican customs office in Kansas City, their new Smart Port complex, a facility being built for Mexico at a cost of $3 million to the U.S. taxpayers in Kansas City. As incredible as this plan may seem to some readers, the first Trans-Texas Corridor segment of the NAFTA Super Highway is ready to begin construction next year. Various U.S. government agencies, dozens of state agencies, and scores of private NGOs (non-governmental organizations) have been working behind the scenes to create the NAFTA Super Highway, despite the lack of comment on the plan by President Bush. The American public is largely asleep to this key piece of the coming “North American Union” that government planners in the new trilateral region of United States, Canada and Mexico are about to drive into reality. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., the panel's chairman, reports The Hill, a Washington newspaper. "We don't believe this committee has done sufficient oversight or serious investigative work given the magnitude of problems facing our nation and our military," the letter said. "We encourage you to take immediate action to re-establish the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. This experiment, begun under the Republican majority, to do away with this subcommittee has failed." The Democrats said acting through the full committee has become an unwieldy and ineffective way of conducting business. Among issues the Democrats want the subcommittee to look into are the reconstruction effort in Iraq, the Pentagon's accounting system and the acquisition process, which accounts for increasingly expensive weapon systems, the report said. But a spokesman for Hunter said the committee has dedicated oversight and investigations staff to work with individual subcommittees to ensure proper oversight. Posted by: pat b on June 12, 2006 07:32 PMhttp://www.pekingduck.org/archives/003781.php The Some of All Fears Back in 1971, Russell Baker, the legendary Times columnist, devoted one of his Op-Ed columns to an interview with Those Who, as in "Those Who snivel and sneer whenever something good is said about America." Back then, Those Who played a major role in politicians' speeches. Times are different now, of course. There are those who say that Iraq is another Vietnam. But Iraq is a desert, not a jungle, so there. And we rarely hear about Those Who these days. But the Republic faces an even more insidious threat: the Some. ... The Some appear to be an important faction within the Democratic Party, a faction that has come out in force since the killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Last week the online edition of The Washington Times claimed that "Some Democrats" were calling Zarqawi's killing a "stunt." Even some Democrats (not to be confused with Some Democrats) warn about the influence of the Some. "Some Democrats are allergic to the use of force. They still have a powerful influence on the party," said Michael O'Hanlon of the Brookings Institution after the 2004 election. ... But here's the strange thing: it's hard to figure out who those Some Democrats are. For example, none of the Democrats quoted by The Washington Times actually called the killing of Zarqawi a stunt, or said anything to that effect. ... And which Democrats are "allergic to the use of force"? Some prominent Democrats opposed the Iraq war, but few if any of these figures oppose all military action. Howard Dean supported both the first gulf war and the invasion of Afghanistan. So did Al Gore. To all appearances, both men opposed the Iraq war only because they thought this particular use of force was ill advised and was being sold on false pretenses. ... So what's going on here? Some might suggest that the alleged influence of the Some is no more real than the problem of flag-burning, that right-wing propagandists are attacking straw men to divert attention from the Bush administration's failures. And they wonder why people like Mr. Obama are helping these propagandists in their work. Some might also suggest that Democrats who accuse other Democrats of closet pacifism are motivated in part by careerism, that they're trying to sustain the peculiar rule, which still prevails in Washington, that you have to have been wrong about Iraq to be considered credible on national security. And they're doing this by misrepresenting the views and motives of those who had the good sense and courage to oppose this war. But that's just what Some Democrats might say. And everyone knows that Some Democrats hate America. Posted by: Pat C on June 12, 2006 07:33 PMCybear, I've been of the impression that the Bush clan have been trying to turn the US for decades. Sealed" be a Rove indictment? Truthout is up with a new story on the "Karl Rove has already been indicted" beat. In it, Jason Leopold says a criminal case styled "Sealed v. Sealed" appeared on the docket of the U.S. District Court in Washington during the same week in May that Patrick Fitzgerald supposedly told Rove that he had been indicted in the Valerie Plame case. Leopold writes: "When told about the 'Sealed vs. Sealed' indictment ... legal experts became intrigued about the case because they say that most federal criminal indictments are filed under 'U.S. vs. Sealed,' and that they rarely come across federal criminal indictments titled 'Sealed vs. Sealed,' which to them suggests the prosecutor felt it necessary to add an extra layer of secrecy to an indictment to keep it out of public view." Leopold proceeds to quote a "former federal criminal attorney" as saying: "The question here is that nobody who I have spoken to -- top criminal attorneys, law professors, etc. -- is aware of the left part of the case title having been sealed." Oh, really? We checked the U.S. District Court's database this morning. Approximately 158 criminal cases have been filed since the beginning of the year, and approximately 31 of them -- or one out of every five -- have been styled "Sealed v. Sealed." And each and every one of these "Sealed v. Sealed" cases contains exactly the same description -- "Case is not available to the public" -- as the one provided for 1-06-cr-128, the case that Leopold suggests may be Rove's. We asked Truthout's Marc Ash whether he was aware that 30 other 2006 cases carry the "Sealed v. Sealed" designation and whether the existence of such cases doesn't undercut Leopold's latest story. "Well, I think we're into semantics," he said in an e-mail response. "We say 'unusual,' you say 'about one out of every five.' Obviously we've taken a keen interest in '06 cr 128.'"
