Hugging the Porcelain Goddess

New Moon 5 Gemini
Saturday, May 27th
Washington DC

New Moons with its dark face are often the times when we hear things 'that go bump in the night' to be revealed in the pale light of dawn as a waking horror. Good morning America. We're hugging the porcelain goddess.

In some circles it's been said that the veils between the worlds are the thinest during the Samhain and Beltane seasons. If we listen we can hear the voices of the dead speak. Whether we are standing reverently before the USS Arizona a ghostly reminder from that bloody day 7th December 1941, or we find ourselves gazing upon the Eternal Flame marking John F. Kennedy's resting place in Arlington Cemetary amid a sea of crosses, the Nations attention is drawn to the sacrifices of our heros and leaders. Others will find themselves this Memorial Day on the hot dusty roads of Iraq with its many small villages such as Haditha. Still others upon the hallowed ground of the WTC. Each remembering.

The dieing doesn't stop as we take a holiday. MSM has lost yet more brave journalists WASHINGTON - Two British journalists working for CBS News were among four people killed when a car bomb hit a U.S. military patrol in Baghdad on Monday.

American CBS correspondent Kimberly Dozier was seriously wounded and six U.S. soldiers were also injured, CBS and the U.S. military said in separate statements.

Still thousands finds themselves benumbed in the humid tropics of Indonesia where 5000 have perished in a 6.3 earthquake during the new moon. Occuring nearer the surface causing greatly magnified damage. The Ring of Fire continues to roil with large earthquakes moving eastward and the rumbling of many volcanos along the breadth of the ring. (Real Time World Map)

Spilling from the darkness in the lights of the world stage, the GOP right wing bloody red Republican Administrations latest set of human rights atrocities, the Haditha Massacre, the tortured children of Quantanamo.

The New Moon squares the Haditha Massacre (HM) chart Uranus, inconjunct the HM Jupiter, and semi-sextile the HM Moon which had formed a Grand Water Trine over Haditha on 19 November 2005. The HM Mars in the 6th House of Military, Wars, and Armies squares Saturn in Leo in the 9th House of Justice, the HM Mars was 11 Taurus a maddened bull, and square Neptune the planet of illusion. There you have your horrendously violent act and persuant obsfucation, revelation and now the judgement.

Saturn sits on George's ascendent, and his administration will own this horror as well as the consequences of Abu Ghraib, Quantanamo and all of their rendition sites as this house of cards falls.

The New Moon over Washington DC finds itself in the 3rd House of Communication in opposition to the chart Mid-heaven 10 Sagittarius forming the body of a T-Square. The arms are formed with Jupiter square Chiron, the great Judge and the Scalpel wielding surgeon and another arm between Mars and Venus, violence and debauchery. To further incite matters Mercury is in the 4th house, in Gemini coming through loud and clear on television and pc screens in every home spreading the news.

Saturn in Leo in the 8th House of Death and Destruction then opposes Chrion in Aquarius in the House of things hidden going bump in the night spilling into dawns pale light and painting the visage of America as the oft referred to Great Satan destroyer extraordinaire. Satan albeit a construct of the Christian Church, is the image most often associated with the USA around the world.

Looking at how the New Moon is playing out in the US chart. We find the new moon in the US 6th House forming a conjunction with the US n. Uranus which implies even more suprises, upsets, disasters, and train wrecks for Bush's military arm and the American People. The lunar SN node, the Dragons Tail is conjunct the US Midheaven just having entered the 10th House of the Nations Leader. That's karma folks, what you sowed is the harvest you reap, and with the first harvest coming at Summer Solstice George's baskets should be full of bushels of trouble. The North Node, Dragons Head where we take things in is conjunct the IC entering into the 4th House of the Common Man. The New Moon in the 6th finds the People's attention focused on the military, their sons and daughters, fathers, brothers and friends. On Memorial Day at bbq's across the country American's gather and the talk is of politics and war.

We're taking it all in, everything from Ken Lays financial association with George Bush to the atrocities at Haditha, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo and Afghanistan. From the tax give-a-way to the uber rich and the shredding of the US Constitution, to the breakdown of the checks and balances on Executive Power with the marginalization of the Judiciary and Congressional branches of government complete. The problem of Global Warming and due to yet more governmental oil industry controlled denial Americans have no viable alternative to power their homes and vehicles. Yet the so called Third World countries have successfully converted to bio fuels. Where most of Western Europe have solar cells on homes, we have not. Solar cells are priced out of everyman's reach in America as we all shell out more and more hard earned dollars to Energy Mongers we can less afford to convert.

Whence came these problems, they came from the GOP Big Oil, Big Bible, big profit, the Republican controlled House and Senate, the stacked Judiciary, the hackable voting machines. This is where George Bush's leadership has led America.

Powerful images as usual and a marvelous way with the words. I love this last paragraph -

"Whence came these problems, they came from the GOP Big Oil, Big Bible, big profit, the Republican controlled House and Senate, the stacked Judiciary, the hackable voting machines. This is where George Bush's leadership has led America."

"We're taking it all" and America is finally becoming sober, those who are paying attention and talking it all in, anyway.

"way with the words" is what came of editing "way with a pen" to "way with words."

Thought I'd identify myself on this very sobering day. I don't know about you, but I don't feel like celebrating, although it is always possible to enjoy the beauty in our lives, the perfection of creation, while hurting for those who are suffering.

Great and powerful article Morgana and a much needed splash of cold water. Oh, by the way, the incident is reported as 7:15am in Hadith (just 30 minutes after your sunrise chart.)

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who have died in our lives, those we knew and loved. It's a time to honor their lives and the sacrifice they made in various wars. I've never felt happy about those sacrifices, because I've always felt something must be done about "war" being the answer. We idealize and glamorize war, when it's nothing but an outpouring of testosterone. We don't fight for "freedom" and "glory" we send our young people to fight and die so the "gun runners" and "war mongers" can make money. War!! It's been said "that it looks like hell, smells like hell and is hell."

There are and have been through all the wars a thousand, nay thousands of Hadithas. I heard a BBC reporter say today "the more Americans become sick of this war, the less they want to hear about it. Americans don't want to know about Haditha, or the people who have died, or roadside bombs." We couldn't be more wrong headed. We need to know, we need to look at the blood of the innocents in Iraq and our own. We sent young men and women to the Middle East and they are returning broken bodies, broken minds and murderers to us.

"Whence came these problems, they came from the GOP Big Oil, Big Bible, big profit, the Republican controlled House and Senate, the stacked Judiciary, the hackable voting machines. This is where George Bush's leadership has led America." Morgana's right, we not only have to stand and witness these atrocities, we must continue to speak.

Just think, Sally, sometime in the next hundred years war will be abolished and we'll be living on a beautiful, resplendant planet, green and peaceful planet in peace, looking back to these barbaric times the way we now see the middle ages.

Powerful stuff here, Morgana. Just powerful. Pat C's link -- the boomantribune (you beat me to it, Pat) exemplifies the viscious games being played with the lives of those who pay the bills both literally and with their lives.

This too http://msnbc.msn.com/id/12952860/is the height of arrogance, the depth of depravity. This cabal continues to march willy-nilly over anything sacred, everything good.

"President George W. Bush has bestowed on his intelligence czar, John Negroponte, broad authority, in the name of national security, to excuse publicly traded companies from their usual accounting and securities-disclosure obligations. Notice of the development came in a brief entry in the Federal Register, dated May 5, 2006, that was opaque to the untrained eye."

Little by little our country has been disassembled. Those who died, giving their lives for what they believed was a noble cause will have their day, and they will shame those who carelessly and cruelly used them.

"Just think, Sally, sometime in the next hundred years war will be abolished and we'll be living on a beautiful, resplendant planet, green and peaceful planet in peace, looking back to these barbaric times the way we now see the middle ages."

That's my dream Sharon and it's a possibility I believe in. I think and wonder where we would be if all that "war" energy had been or could be applied to this planet, a different way to resolve differences. I think of how much I have to do and there are never enough hours in the day and I'm just one person. I think it would be a long time before we ran out of projects and things to accomplish. I don't think it's an impossible dream, as far as satisfying our violent tendencies, it seems Mother Earth keeps us pretty busy with that one.

Morgana.

Kudos. Your New Moon treatise does not disappoint!

____

UNBELIEVABLE:

"President George W. Bush has bestowed on his intelligence czar, John Negroponte, broad authority, in the name of national security, to excuse publicly traded companies from their usual accounting and securities-disclosure obligations. Notice of the development came in a brief entry in the Federal Register, dated May 5, 2006, that was opaque to the untrained eye."

Do we write/e mail the traitors in congress withe the above paragraph and ask them, how dare he? !!

this means he must have knowledge that others of his buddies on the big boards have engaged in a lot of "fixing" - and he's assuring that no other
of his favored buddies or oil company associates
will have to suffer the fate of his best bud, Lay.

If the fitz doesn't go after this dastardly duo/trio now-there will be no rescuing any department of what we knew as our government. They have all been corrupted, stained, and tainted with the tyrrany and dirt of
junior's maladministration.

But my idealism and hope for someone to save and return us to the government we knew is ridiculous.

Pluto affirms what we knew as the government of United States of America and the Constitution no longer exists in the form we knew it. . nor will it ever again.

We here on AW know it. It will be some time after Pluto gets out of Sag before the rest of the country fully realizes it.

Did anyone lay flowers for the death of America on this memorial day especially? It seems most appropriate to me.

___

I attended a memorial day concert full of John Phillips Sousa and other "victorious" music this evening. And it occurred to me, the myth of the
almighty war powers of the usa is just that - a myth. Our victory in WW2 was likely a fluke. We haven't been victors in any conflict since; not Korea, not Viet Nam, not Afghanistan and not Iraq. What we did was say "We won" and left.

They wait for us older generations to die off, to die off with our memories of democracy and the rights and freedoms the Constitution granted us and which we lived under for 200 years. The younger generations will not remember or have knowledge of what used to be. And then their subterranean treason will be complete. They finally will have a victory, not against a foreign enemy, but against their own country and people.

I think it's appropriate to mourn America on this Memorial day.

Powerful Morgana, as powerful as a new moon with a dark face.

Posted by: M. on May 30, 2006 04:02 AM

Thanks Morgana, for the time and effort you gave to bring us this piece about our own darkness... and indeed if we listen we can hear the voices of the dead and the dying... today has been a gruesome day... the feeling of death is palpable.

"The HM Mars in the 6th House of Military, Wars, and Armies squares Saturn in Leo in the 9th House of Justice, the HM Mars was 11 Taurus a maddened bull, and square Neptune the planet of illusion. There you have your horrendously violent act and persuant obsfucation, revelation and now the judgement."

Yes, one can see it all so clearly, with your guidance... even in the darkness...

aahh yes, the judgement... for our children, for our troops psyched up to a fever pitch before they ever entered Iraq... told that Saddam was responsible for events of 9/11... the blood of those helpless Iraqis in Haditha is upon Dubya's hands... and Rummy's and Cheney's... but it will be the young men who will be charged... they will pay...

Aahhh, sweet sweet Sharon... what a vision you bring us... how I hope you are right, though I fear we have more than 100 years to get there...

Cap'n Sally, I trust the wedding went smoothly... and you have added one more to your growing loving family... blessings and light on you and yours...

Pallas glad you're back --- look forward to hearing all the wonders of your trip...

Two thoughts, Pallas:

-One, of course you are correct that this US Govt. will never be the same again. This government. There is nothing, however, about Pluto that says we can't just tear it all down and start over fresh from scratch, which one way or another I think is going to happen next decade anyhow. There's just too much corruption at the fundamental points for federal reform to even be feasible at this point.

I say just tear it all down, ship Bush and Co off to The Hague for trial, and let's deal with things on a state and local/regional level for awhile, where government is still close enough to the people to be adequately scrutinized by us. Do we even need a national federal govt? If we do, then perhaps it would be better off looking more like the EU than the current unwieldly monstrosity.

-Two, If a total "generational disconnect" from the cultural memories of our history is a victory to be celebrated, it won't be by any of the elites in power today. I believe they are going to watch nearly everything they have stolen from the people slip from their grasp, and perhaps even crumble away into to dust, as more and more of the lies they have covered up are exposed.

If I have any part in it all, I'll be teaching the next generations about the crimes and treasons committed by the Bush family and friends. I'll do my part to make sure that the past is remembered as it should be, not as the extremists want the story to be told, to their benefit.

To me, this says it all. No matter what the party name, the underlying essence of "empire versus earth" remains the same. Beware, the empire builders are currently morphing to the democratic name because of their current unpopularity.
-----------
A defining choice
We face a defining choice between two contrasting models for organizing human affairs. Give them the generic names Empire and Earth Community. Absent an understanding of the history and implications of this choice, we may squander valuable time and resources on efforts to preserve or mend cultures and institutions that cannot be fixed and must be replaced.

Empire organizes by domination at all levels, from relations among nations to relations among family members. Empire brings fortune to the few, condemns the majority to misery and servitude, suppresses the creative potential of all, and appropriates much of the wealth of human societies to maintain the institutions of domination.

Earth Community, by contrast, organizes by partnership, unleashes the human potential for creative co-operation, and shares resources and surpluses for the good of all. Supporting evidence for the possibilities of Earth Community comes from the findings of quantum physics, evolutionary biology, developmental psychology, anthropology, archaeology, and religious mysticism. It was the human way before Empire; we must make a choice to re-learn how to live by its principles.

Developments distinctive to our time are telling us that Empire has reached the limits of the exploitation that people and Earth will sustain. A mounting perfect economic storm born of a convergence of peak oil, climate change, and an imbalanced U.S. economy dependent on debts it can never repay is poised to bring a dramatic restructuring of every aspect of modern life. We have the power to choose, however, whether the consequences play out as a terminal crisis or an epic opportunity. The Great Turning is not a prophecy. It is a possibility.

Jeanie-

I know this site focuses primarily on the US, and I very much enjoy reading each new chapter as it appears, but I'm also intrigued by what has been taking place in NZ. I've been watching the political developments, and am curious that NZ sits at the end of the ring of fire. I also recall an article recently by Marjorie Orr who felt that NZ, a cardinal country like Australia and the US, will face similar challenges in the decades ahead. What chart(s) do you use or have you seen used for NZ? Have you seen any articles about NZ astrology, given the current world political context?

It seems that right-wing and corporate, political and economic, forces in both the U.S. and Australia, and to a lesser extent, Great Britain, are making a determined effort to undermine Helen Clark's Labour party and destabilize the fragile coalition government. And although Dr. Brash is reportedly quite a likable guy, his politics are very much aligned with the Republicans in the US, and may be even more to the right in some respects.

Cheers,
MK

Hi Pallas, I know our government (all gov. really) has been disappointing and has lied to the people since G-d knows when, but I don't think we won WWII on a fluke. I do think it was a just war (maybe one of the few) and was won due to good strategy, luck, and maybe divine inspiration or intervention?

On that note I will say that the Great Turning is possible, Jo. There are stranger things in heaven and earth, Horatio, so whether it's brilliant inventions coming to the forefront, the people waking up in droves and electing the right government, or divine or extraterrestrial intervention, I choose to believe we ARE at a crossroads and it is perfectly possible we will choose the higher consciousness path.

Sharon

I would love to talk to you directly without taking up Sally's bandwidth on something that is probably not of interest to all. My email link is at the bottom of this if you want to chat further.

I'm not sure that I buy into Campion's chart for NZ and given his reputation I don't know if there are enough astrologers interested that have studied the other possibilites. February 6 1840 is considered to be the founding document for the country and that feels more right to me than the Campion date. I think his may be a valid chart for the government 'modus operandi' but not the country as a whole. I think his date is akin to the US chart for the senate versus the declaration of independence. I would love to discuss with someone that has more astrological knowledge than mine the merits of various alternate dates. a)cooks discovery and claim for britain; b) the Treaty of Waitangi; c)campion's chart of the formation of a working government; d)dominion day; e)ratification of the statute of westminster (full independence from Britain); f)the constitution act.
Having lived in Hawaii for so long, I was shocked when I came home in '04 at the political changes. Helen Clark's Labor party does certainly not reflect the sentiment of the majority of people and like Tony's labor government has been bought and paid for by the multinational corporations, while pandering to the unthinking. And all sorts of recent scandals within her govt have been coming to light. It was the labor government that started the road to privatization of publicly held assets during the thatcher years. Brash panders too though and from what I see the whole system is totally screwed! The 'coalition' govt is due to the MMP system that was brought in a few years ago. It rewards the party faithful. There was one local representative that was resoundingly defeated by the voters in his district and yet he is in parliament because he was a favorite of the 'party.'
I'm doing what I can to have an effect at the local level but there is so much apathy due to "you can't fight the system so why bother." The local structure is much more heirarchical rather than collaborative. The hired 'consultants' are now telling the elected officials what to do with only lip service given to public input.

You are issued high-tech military weaponry, and instructed to engage the infidel on the streets of New York City. You are on a mission - both a religious mission and a military mission -- to convert or kill Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, gays, and anyone who advocates the separation of church and state - especially moderate, mainstream Christians. Your mission is "to conduct physical and spiritual warfare"; all who resist must be taken out with extreme prejudice. You have never felt so powerful, so driven by a purpose: you are 13 years old. Born again

Al Gore was the nearly man of US politics, the wooden Clinton sidekick who never made it to the top job. But now he's back with a mission to save the planet - and this time he's passionate. In an exclusive interview, he talks to Jonathan Freedland about going green, what he thinks of Bush - and if he'll stand again for president

Jonathan Freedland

Here's a situation not many would have predicted back in 2000. Al Gore is addressing a tent packed with maybe 800 people - and the place is trembling with laughter. The famously wooden former vice-president, whose personality was so dull, according to one rival, that when "Al Gore has a fireside chat, the fire goes out", is tickling this crowd at the Hay Festival like a veteran stand-up.
"I am Al Gore and I used to be the next president of the United States of America," he says, opening the routine. When that gets a warm laugh, he scowls: "I don't happen to find that very funny."

In the history of editorial boo-boos, few can out-goof the Chicago Daily Tribune's "Dewey Defeats Truman" front page in November 1948. That classic humiliation is imprinted on the collective journalistic psyche, not just because a major paper miscalled a presidential election on the night - which might even have been forgotten in time - but because in St Louis the next day it was gleefully held aloft by the victorious Harry Truman for the photographers, and thus for history.
Still, this cautionary tale seems a prudent preliminary to reporting what I discovered in Washington last week. In America's capital, the political class is gearing up for a stunning reverse for George Bush's Republicans in the midterm elections this November. Yes, these experts may all be wrong - it has happened before - but at the moment the facts supporting their view are overwhelming. As the political analyst Charlie Cook puts it: "It's bad. It's very bad. All the diagnostic indicators suggest that 2006 will be Armageddon for the Republicans. The only good news for the party is that it is five months away."

"They've been calling my house, threatening my wife," said Dr Brinson. "The first time was on a day when I was going up to Washington to speak to Republicans in Congress. Only they knew I'd be away from home. The Republicans were advised not to turn up to listen to me, so only three did so."

I was just looking at the new moon and USA chart.
The sorrow around this moon and Memorial Day is even greater than I thought it would be.

I noticed one really interesting thing and that is the transiting NN in Aries just leaving our 4th house. The Mars in Cancer adds to this feeling of wanting to be safe at home and away from the cruel world. But we have created the dilemma ourselves and I think this truth is sinking in. The T.Mars in cancer in our 8th could be bringing up emotional traumas and old patterns, but all in all there is a family tribal hurt in the air. The Sun/Uranus/Jupiter water trine is giving the stream of emotion an outlet. And so we are sorry. The horns, flags, speeches, flowers, and everything seem to be doing nothing. Remembering dead soldiers seems rather futile.
Maybe the deep impression being made now on the collective psyche will lead us away from further violent conflict. The futility of 'stay the course' which I hear was repeated yesterday, has hit home. I know the people of this country do not want to murder people in the Middle East. They feel unsafe and extremely uncomfortable. I think people want to do something about it. For once, The sorrow seems to be outdoing the fear. Not even a movie star is having a baby at the moment to distract us.

I've begun to notice that on any news et al, the word most used is "kill" or some variation thereof... killer, killing, killings, or death, deaths, blew up, explosion(s), loss, sick(ness), disease epidemic, on & on. One never hears the words gentle, love, kind or kindness, happy or happiness, well, healthy...

Couldn't agree more with Kiwijeanie re the situation in New Zealand as to to the implications for New Zealand when the stars hit the fan around 2010.
That revolutionary Uranus/Pluto will stir up problems with the indigenous Maori and the foreshore issues will come home to roost. Hey that people problem sounds kinda like the Mexican issue in Uncle Sam land. Sounds like global revolution is in the air.
You could try working with November 25 1947 New Zealand acedes to Statute of Westminster, becomes a dominion. As a birth time. The guy mentioned below kinda likes it.

Hey stan, nice of you to comment on NZ. If you let me know your email, I would LOVE to discuss NZ further with you.
And thanks for the link. I will explore it in a moment.
Just one small point of clarification: NZ became a Dominion (of GB under Queen Victoria) Jan 1st 1909 - dominion day. Satus being sort of like an semi autonomous state of GB.
Ratification of the Treaty of Westminster was essentially when NZ became totally independent from british legal processes.

jm, I thought I would contribute a wee comment (risking the Wrath of Bhakti) in response to your statement: "...but all in all there is a family tribal hurt in the air." Exactly. I look for patterns everywhere, and you drew my attention to some I missed: My extended family is fighting again but they're trying to work things out; I know of several families of choice (i.e., tribes) and some social and recreational groups (again, tribes) being roiled by internal hurts breaking out into full view. Memorial Day was sober, grim and uncharacteristically quiet. I hope this means internal work is being done on a larger scale.

Dobbs: Bush, Congress tell working folk to go to hell

George W. Bush's approval ratings have slumped to the lowest of his presidency. The approval rating for Congress is even lower, and nearly three-quarters of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction.

But what is our government doing about that? The president is staying the course in Iraq and apparently demanding little of his generals to create a new, far more effective strategy for urgent success. Of course, he also wants a guest-worker program and amnesty of millions of illegal aliens. And Congress, faced with midterm elections in just over five months, is intent on giving the president what he wants and telling working men and women and their families, American citizens all, to go to hell.

Illegal aliens are more important to this Congress than securing our borders and our ports, more important than those legal immigrants who have waited in line and who follow the law. The Senate has added to the litany of lunacy that makes up what it calls reform: Illegal aliens would only have to pay back taxes on three of the past five years, they will not be prosecuted for felonies such as identity theft or purchasing or using fraudulent Social Security cards, and unlike millions of visa holders who have to leave the country to have them renewed, they may simply remain in the United States while this Congress and this president give away all the benefits and privileges of American citizenship.

Lou Dobbs “Explains” Why He Uses Bigots As Sources

By Jane Hamsher @ 6:38 pm

I guess even Lou Dobbs has limits. After doing his level best to legitimize the Aztlan myth propagated by Malkin and the rest of the bigotsphere sourced by (what else) bigots, Lou had to backtrack. Says Greg Sargent:

The whole fracas got started when blogs called Liberal Oasis and The Great Society noticed that CNN’s report included a map which it attributed to the Council of Conservative Citizens. The CCC is a group that’s been described by the Anti-Defamation League and many other sources as a white supremacist group formed to succeed the segregationist white Citizens’ Councils of the 1960s. Trent Lott took a bunch of heat for speaking before them a few years back, you may recall.

to get back on thread topic, from Morgana above:

"New Moons with its dark face are often the times when we hear things 'that go bump in the night' to be revealed in the pale light of dawn as a waking horror."

With the revelations of Haditha and the story about Korean refugees during that "Police Action" many of us are coming face to face with the military of this country... with its dark face... pretty horrific. And of course the number of Iraqis dying this month alone are above any "mission accomplished"... and they will probably increase in number in the days ahead, as more and more Americans wake up to the fact that the invasion of Iraq was not only unnecessary but illegal.

Block the Vote

In a country that spends so much time extolling the glories of democracy, it’s amazing how many elected officials go out of their way to discourage voting. States are adopting rules that make it hard, and financially perilous, for nonpartisan groups to register new voters. They have adopted new rules for maintaining voter rolls that are likely to throw off many eligible voters, and they are imposing unnecessarily tough ID requirements.

Florida recently reached a new low when it actually bullied the League of Women Voters into stopping its voter registration efforts in the state. The Legislature did this by adopting a law that seems intended to scare away anyone who wants to run a voter registration drive. Since registration drives are particularly important for bringing poor people, minority groups and less educated voters into the process, the law appears to be designed to keep such people from voting.

It imposes fines of $250 for every voter registration form that a group files more than 10 days after it is collected, and $5,000 for every form that is not submitted — even if it is because of events beyond anyone’s control, like a hurricane. The Florida League of Women Voters, which is suing to block the new rules, has decided it cannot afford to keep registering new voters in the state as it has done for 67 years. If a volunteer lost just 16 forms in a flood, or handed in a stack of forms a day late, the group’s entire annual budget could be put at risk.

In Washington, a new law prevents people from voting if the secretary of state fails to match the information on their registration form with government databases. There are many reasons that names, Social Security numbers and other data may not match, including typing mistakes. The state is supposed to contact people whose data does not match, but the process is too tilted against voters.

Congress is considering a terrible voter ID requirement as part of the immigration reform bill. Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky, introduced an amendment to require all voters to present a federally mandated photo ID. Even people who have been voting for years would need to get a new ID to vote in 2008. Millions of people without drivers’ licenses, including many elderly people and city residents, might fail to do so, and be ineligible to vote. The amendment has been blocked so far, but voting-rights advocates worry that it could reappear.

Morgana, the Republican who was in office prior to Warner came very very close to bankrupting the State. Warner fixed it to the amazement of everyone. If it wern't for term limits he would still be in office. He is a brilliant business man and while a Democrat, he has no problem both communicating with his opposition, and calling them what they are. He's good.

I would add to that, that he would probably be a globalization man though.

Lou Dobbs detests George W Bush and his team. I agree with him.

I doubt very seriously if Dobs has come anywhere near wearable sheets. Many people have had to resort to all kinds of sources during these frantic and insane times. It has all been brought to you and me by the most despicable administration in our history.

If we are fortunate enough to reach a time when Lou Dobbs likes the next President, I will then reevaluate my opinion of Dobbs, but for now, he kicks the right rear ends.

Posted by: Pat C on May 31, 2006 04:38 PM

Just as George W. Bush tied Saddam and Iraq to the events of 9/11/2001, Lou Dobbs ties immigrants to the woes of this country. Dobbs is not the first and it won't be the last to use this kind of propaganda tactic.

From Wikipedia:

"... Dobbs has often stated that the United States is becoming balkanized and immigrants and/or illegal aliens are refusing to assimilate. He has been critical of demonstrations of ethnic or national pride by them, stating, "I don't think that we should have any flag flying in this country except the flag of the United States", and "I don't think there should be a St Patrick's Day. I don't care who you are. I think we ought to be celebrating what is common about this country, what we enjoy as similarities as people." He has been accused of inciting xenophobia by some such as Libertarian journalist James K. Glassman of the American Enterprise Institute[3].

Lou Dobbs Tonight frequently features related issues under the ongoing billboards "Exporting America" and "Broken Borders." The newscast often couples references to illegal aliens with the word "invasion." Dobbs dismisses the allegedly excessive or misguided concern for language as "political correctness" in the segment billboarded "P.C. Nation."

Lou Dobbs is a fascist tool.

What You Don't Know About the Immigration Bill

The Senate passed legislation last week that Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) hailed as "the most far-reaching immigration reform in our history." You might think that the first question anyone would ask is how much it would actually increase or decrease legal immigration. But no. After the Senate approved the bill by 62 to 36, you could not find the answer in the news columns of The Post, the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal. Yet the estimates do exist and are fairly startling. By rough projections, the Senate bill would double the legal immigration that would occur during the next two decades from about 20 million (under present law) to about 40 million.

One job of journalism is to inform the public about what our political leaders are doing. In this case, we failed. The Senate bill's sponsors didn't publicize its full impact on legal immigration, and we didn't fill the void. It's safe to say that few Americans know what the bill would do because no one has told them. Indeed, I suspect that many senators who voted for the legislation don't have a clue as to the potential overall increase in immigration.

Democracy doesn't work well without good information. Here is a classic case. It is interesting to contrast these immigration projections with a recent survey done by the Pew Research Center. The poll asked whether the present level of legal immigration should be changed. The response: 40 percent favored a decrease, 37 percent would hold it steady and 17 percent wanted an increase. There seems to be scant support for a doubling. If the large immigration projections had been in the news, would the Senate have done what it did? Possibly, though I doubt it.

But if it had, senators would have had to defend what they were doing as sound public policy. That's the real point. They would have had to debate whether such high levels of immigration are good or bad for the country rather than adopting a measure whose largest consequences are unintended or not understood. What arguments would they have used?

US Mandatory MILITARY DRAFT 18-42 quietly snuck in! As described at http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:H.R.4752.IH: on February 14, 2006, Congressman Charles Rangel (NY) introduced a bill (Universal National Service Act of 2006 - HR 4752 IH) aiming at drafting everyone - men and women alike - from the ages of 18 to 42 into the military for a minimum period of 2 years. Or to quote the bill: "To provide for the common defense by requiring all persons in the United States, including women, between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform a period of military service or a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, and for other purposes." The House is to convene on June 6 (06/06/06] to debate and possibly adopt this bill, that is, unless a vast public outcry succeeds in derailing this insanity, which you can do by writing a letter of protest to your congress person through http://www.conservativeusa.org/mega-cong.htm or http://www.webslingerz.com/jhoffman/congress-email.html

Mexico has the rich and the poor with a tiny compliment of a middle class. It has a thriving drug industry. Mexico does not care for the progress of its people, and has had a cooperative agreement with this administration to take the poor uneducated populace to do slave labor in the US.

Have you ever wondered why people are allowed to die in the desert? Since Mexico encourages people to move north to the US and the US corporations advertises jobs in central Mexican newspapers, you would think that there would be no need for death and suffering in the desert.

People need to look at this with more critical thinking. Stop leading with emotions and actually look at what is going on. Don't be manipulated by the hydra, and actually solve human problems.

Lou Dobbs attacked by American Enterprise Institute quoted above.

Another reason to support Lou Dobbs.

The American Enterprise Institute is the original front organization for Dick and Lynn Cheney and the hotbed of neocons - the really active ones - who are daily quoted by the whoring media.

the dream of the neocons and the globalists is to make North America one global entity without borders between Canada and Mexico. the dream of the globalists is to do away with middle classes and to enslave the working man and woman - serfdom - to lower wages - to have people fighting for jobs - which they have also accomplished by the outsourcing of American jobs , manufacturing , even simple customer service jobs that paid $8.00 in the US. Makes you wonder what they're being paid in Costa Rica and India.

Pluto reigned during the periods of slavery in the US. Pluto reigns again. Only the slaves this time are the ordinary working American men and women.

The legalizing of illegal immigrants by THIS congress and president is a giant step in their plan for globalization. You been G-8'd. Wake up to the big picture. It has nothing to do with bigotry. These open borders are an outrage. You try to go into any other country illegally, including Mexico, and see where you end up.

Why it's over for America

An inability to protect its citizens. The belief that it is above the law. A lack of democracy. Three defining characteristics of the 'failed state'. Spreading Democracy in Haditha

By Mike Whitney

05/30/06 "Information Clearing House" As details of the atrocities in Haditha continue to surface in the media, it is clear that George Bush is either completely divorced from reality or simply incapable of grasping the catastrophe he has created. In fact, he is as culpable in the deaths of the “24 unarmed Iraqis” as if he had put the gun to their heads’ and shot them one by one.

The International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg established the model for prosecuting war crimes. Justice Robert H. Jackson ruled that military aggression constitutes the “supreme crime” because “it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole”. Jackson’s findings form a direct link between George Bush and the “execution-style” murders of Iraqi civilians in Haditha. Until Bush provides a credible justification for the invasion, he must be held directly responsible for the war crimes perpetrated on the Iraqi people.

Laura Rozen at war and piece

AP/CNN: "Rice: U.S. ready to talk with Iran on nuclear issue."

The United States is prepared to join other nations in holding direct talks with Iran on its nuclear program if Iran first agrees to stop disputed nuclear activities that the West fears could lead to a bomb, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday.

"To underscore our commitment to a diplomatic solution and to enhance prospects for success, as soon as Iran fully and verifiably suspends its enrichment and reprocessing activities, the United States will come to the table," Rice said in remarks prepared for delivery at the State Department.

The Swiss ambassador to the United States was called to the State Department earlier Wednesday to receive a copy of Rice's remarks for transmission to Iran, U.S. officials said. The United States has had no diplomatic ties with Iran and few contacts at all with its government since Islamic radicals took over the U.S. Embassy in 1979 and held diplomats there for more than a year.

Background here and here. I guess Hagel's office was mistaken about the press release. More from Reuters, and the Post. Transcript of Rice's remarks.

Update: From Chris Nelson:

Expect an announcement soon that the President has authorized Secretary of State Condi Rice to join directly in the EU-3 talks with Iran...under the condition that Iran agree to a verifiable halt to its uranium reprocessing activities.

Experts say not to expect Iran to immediately respond in the positive...in fact, it will likely be a strong negative. But they also predict that a counter-offer will come within days...basically throwing a “temporary suspension pending developments” offer onto the table.

The US moves and anticipated Iranian counter-moves come in the context of progress at the UN Security Council on a resolution with Chinese and Russian support which seems headed in the general direction desired by the US, but with the critical compromise that NO possible use of force would be authorized in the event of failure.

Still being negotiated, sources say, is whether the latest resolution would contain language also banning economic sanctions, as has been demanded by both Moscow and Beijing.

In any event, the US decision is seen as throwing the ball back into Iran’s court, after weeks of the US being seen as the stumbling block through its refusal to agree to direct talks.

Rice and other officials started calling key Capitol Hill and other players in Washington last night, and through the morning. Initial response is favorable, to quote one, “this will bring us into line with the EU-3 and put the onus on Iran to respond.”

That last clause is key. That Iran and not the US be seen as the stumbling block.

Al Gonzales's Southern Strategy: The Curious Timing of William Jefferson

Only an idiot or a child truly believes that justice is blind in America. The FBI has always had a penchant for sting operations involving prominent African-americans. While W. was firing a federal prosecutor to protect Jack Abramoff's criminal ass, agents of the FBI were going out of their way to protect us from Rep. Jefferson's criminal activities--which strikes me as a waste of Justice Department resources, considering how much harm Jefferson did to the the American people relative to how much damage all the Congresspeople associated with Abramoff were doing. Jefferson was skimming some cash from a foreign country. Abramoff was facilitating the theft the our entire electoral system. The two crimes are not even in the same ballpark.

Like so many of Karl Rove's grand schemes to rig the vote, this one has blown up in the RNC's face. Acting White House Counsel Al Gonzales blew it big time when he decided to make this a test case of administrative power by raiding Congressman Jefferson's office. Maybe he has been watching too many "Sopranos" re-runs. Announcing that he was going to start issuing subpoenas like mad to all members of Congressional intelligence and defense committees was just the right level of intimidation for a faux-Attorney General. Following that proclamation up with an honest to God raid on a Congressional office turned him into a member of the Family. Were Congress in Democratic control, they might have accepted this intimidation lying down, particularly since Jefferson's crime is one of money, a sin which Dems will not tolerate....

Excellent advice and very difficult considering the 4 USA Cancer planets and most telling, the Saturn in Cancer of Mexico. She does indeed need to learn to take care of her own rather than foist the problem on the ever absorbing Cancer USA. When Pluto opposes all these points in Capricorn, perhaps the emotionalism will be curtailed and the problems faced.

I believe the Iranian scare with nukes included was designed for public consumption. There are people behind the scenes in this affair who know what they are doing and we don't. When the American public jumped in panic it merely proved to those in power that they still have the magic wand to terrify the people. The public leapt without thinking at all guided by the hysterical media looking to break stories. Part of Pluto in Sag is the power of advertising and propaganda and the very very best we could do is learn our lesson and not be duped, suckered, and misled nonstop. We have this marvelous tool in cyberspace now to steady ourselves, consolidate, mobilize, and grasp the truth. To resist this age old government tactic if we so choose.

A paragraph from the Guardian concerning the rights attempted swiftboating of Al Gore:
Is this what is meant by circular thinking? If it wasn't so terrible, the outright lie would be funny.

"In the US, Mr Gore's environmental campaign has sparked a backlash from some on the right who accuse him of scaremongering. A series of television advertisements, launched by a thinktank called the Competitive Enterprise Institute, argue that carbon dioxide emissions are a sign of American productivity and progress."

The article posted by Pallas verifies exactly what I've decided about the USA getting free from foreign domination once again. I think the states are almost a reenactment of the original colonies as we see them start to struggle to make their own decisions and laws on major issues.
Some 'experts' foretell an increased globalization while others portend a coming increase in nationalism. In fact, this seems to be occurring in South America. Some say the international money houses are losing some of their grip. Infighting does seem to be weakening them. The weight of corporate growth will have to bring death and decay as Pluto in Cap indicates.
It's none too soon to think about internal structure and strength.

(wish I had more money to invest now, as it's going down - good time for buying - I keep saying I'm a healthy, wealthy millionaire - but it hasn't happened yet :D

From financial astrologer Ray Merriman:

"Long-Term Thoughts:

I am oftentimes asked how long and how high do I think Gold can soar (and fall)? First of all, consider that we are now in the downside of the Saturn-Pluto economic cycle (from opposition to conjunction). This 18-year phase lasts from 2001-2020. As stated many times before, this is the part of the economic cycle when federal deficits increase, interest rates rise, economies stagnate (for the most part), and there are more recessions that last longer and longer, while periods of prosperity get shorter and shorter. In this phase of the cycle, commodities tend to perform better than usual, and stocks and bonds perform worse than usual. So in answer to “how long can Gold be bullish?” my response is “Probably into the end of the next decade.” My guess is that Gold can top out within two years of the January 2020 conjunction of Saturn and Pluto. It last topped out in January 1980 with an all-time of $850.00/ounce, and that was within approximately two years before Saturn and Pluto formed their last conjunction.

From the conjunction of Saturn and Pluto to their opposition, federal deficits tend to be reduced, interest rates come down, and the economy, bonds, and stocks tend to perform very well. It is a time to be in the equity markets, investing your money into the economy. However, precious metals and commodities tend not to perform very well during this 18-year phase of the cycle. We saw that from 1982 through 2001. Stocks did very well, but Gold did very poorly. Now the cycle is reversed into 2020, +/- 2 years.

So how high can Gold go? $2000.00-4000.00 is not out of the question. And my colleague Manfred Zimmel of Austria presents an argument for $6000.00. And yes, there will be smaller secular bear markets in between now and 2020. I am referring here to a long-term trend, an 18-year trend. Within that there are smaller cycles that will have their downward trends. One may be in effect right now as we approach the Moon's North Node transit over the 0 Aries point around June 13-20. There are always cycles within cycles. And the trend is ultimately determined by the type of cycle you are looking at. In this section, I am referring to an 18-year cycle, a lunar Nodal cycle and half a Saturn-Pluto cycle. The 18-19 year cycle is the most documented economic cycle in the study of cycles."

Bobby Kennedy JR. on '04 election theft in Rolling Stone feature article

EXCLUSIVE: BOBBY KENNEDY JR. TO QUESTION 2004 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN MAJOR ROLLING STONE FEATURE ARTICLE!
Says 'Evidence Shows High-Level Republicans Suceeded in Scheme to Steal Election in Ohio'!
Mag to Hit Stands Friday, Internet on Thursday, Publicity Push to Accompany

A damning and detailed feature article, written by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., for Rolling Stone, documenting evidence of the theft of the 2004 Presidential Election is set to hit newstands this Friday, The BRAD BLOG can now confirm. The online version of the article will be posted tomorrow (Thursday) morning.

The article, which has been several months in development, will contend that a concerted effort was undertaken by high-level Republican officials to steal the Election in Ohio -- and thus the country -- in 2004!

Kennedy told The BRAD BLOG this morning that "the best evidence says the Republicans succeeded" in their plan.

He writes in the article, and confirmed to us today, that evidence shows Ohio Sec. of State J. Kenneth Blackwell was "certainly in on" the scheme, and "there are indications that the effort went all the way up to the White House." ...

Pat C--you don't really want us to protest Charley Rangel's universal draft bill, do you?

Charley is smart. He knows how it is going to look when all these Republican chickenhawks start speechifying against military service for everyone.

This bill will go nowhere--but I'd love to see it get a long, loud public debate. I am so tired of these neoCons who love war as their spectator sport.

If we're going to have a war, let's invite all the kids. Poor Jenna and Barbara are so left out.

a post script to the Gold article above by Ray Merriman.

We are not talking about gold STOCK here. Stocks are paper. Paper as in our dollars can be backed up by nothing - zilch - zero.

So when we talk about buying gold, as Richard Nolle says: "remember what cash is, cash is cash"
we are talking about buying the actual coins, not paper stock.

Canadian Arctic, the New Geo-Strategic Issue

http://www.truthout.org/issues_06/053106EA.shtml

The Canadian Arctic covers 3.4 million square kilometers, and with extreme climactic conditions, it used to barely interest anyone. But times change. Affected by global warming, the ice melt's acceleration is exciting more and more greed. Canada is now preparing to defend its sovereignty in a region that could see litigation over maritime control, for the exploitation of natural resources such as oil and gas, and security matters, with the opening of a regular new point of entry into North America.

Would you care to tie that into astrology?

And by the way, wasn't Palestine's union's marching awhile ago cause Israel wouldn't give them access to Israeli jobs as long as they kept sending suicide bombers into Israel?

Gee, can you get the Palestinians and Hamas to create jobs for the Palestinians IN Palestine other than suicide bombing?

that would be a positive move on Hamas' part, wouldn't you think?

Maybe you could picket Walmart to get them to send manufacturing jobs to Palestine. Wonder why no one does send jobs to Palestine ? Do you think the Canadian Unions will send jobs to Palestine?

Tell me, WV, why don't the Palestinians have jobs?

Jo, Lou Dobbs is only partly a fascist fool...I do not agree with his assessment of immigrants either...that makes me sick....

My daughter's father in law believes that Islamic people want to cut his throat....and that is why it is good to let the government "protect us" from terrorists by listening to our phone calls...not realizing the real terrorists are people who promote that kind of crap he is espousing.
I know that a new stamp has been issued on heroes who stood up for something....Hiram Bingham is one....CBS news talked about him last night...he issued passports to Jews in Marseille in WWII, after the Germans took over France (those Vichy Frenchmen...well, the rest of the Frenchmen took care of THEM after the war)...illegaly, and in defiance of his boss in the US Counsulate , where he was a deputy ambassador. He saved about 2000 people, some of them still alive here. He did this against the orders of his boss, the ambassador....and get this: his boss said THE GERMANS WILL WIN THIS WAR ANYWAY, SO WE DON'T WANT TO PISS THEM OFF BY LETTING THE JEWS GO.

Bingham resigned his job in the Diplomatic Corp in protest. HE is a hero.

Now WE have a Vichy government which puts Zionist Israeli security and foreign investment and world domination ahead of its own people. What will WE do to take care of the ones doing that? Immigrants are the least of the problems, and immigration is good for our country....it is the people running the companies, the MBAs, the connected, the stockholders and the boards of directors, the small business owners who make this possible. And some of THAT is the really awfull work ethics of our young Americans..... Who is accusing them? NO...it is just the poor who get the sick stick...

And Palestine got one hell of a sick stick many many years ago now....

A state of emergency

Bush is a danger to the constitution in his wartime capacity as commander in chief

Within the Bush administration something that senior officials call the "war paradigm" is the central organising principle. They do not use the phrase publicly, but they bend policy to serve it. After September 11 the war paradigm was instantly adopted. George Bush, who proclaimed "I'm a war president", assumed the paradigm as his natural state and right. According to its imperatives, the president in his wartime capacity as commander in chief makes and enforces laws as he sees fit, overriding the constitutional system of checks and balances. Some of the paradigm's expressions include Bush's fiats on the treatment of detainees, domestic surveillance and international law, and his more than 750 "signing statements" - interpretations of laws that he claims he can implement as he chooses.

In the beginning, the elements of the war paradigm appeared to be expediencies, conceived as emergency measures in the struggle against al-Qaida. But their precepts were developed before September 11 by John Yoo, promoted to deputy assistant attorney general in the office of legal counsel at the department of justice, where he was tasked to write secret memos on torture, surveillance and executive power. Once Bush approved them, the clerisy of neoconservative lawyers put them into effect. They believe fervently that the constitution is fatally flawed and must be circumscribed. The Bush administration's holy grail is to remove suspects' rights to due process, speedy trial and exculpatory evidence. The war paradigm is to be strengthened to conduct permanent war against terror that can never be finally defeated. There is no exit strategy from emergency.

Immigrants have always been good for the country, until an economic agreement was formed between the Vichy government and huge corporations. Survivors in Nola couldn't get jobs because they were importing illegals to do the work at slave wages. Supervisors held jobs long enough to teach the bilinguals what to do and then they were let go.

There's more of course, and that makes me sick.

Thanks for the Gold information, Pallas. I only wish I could actually invest in some. If I had known more about astrology and the significance of the outer planets ten years ago, I would have made a number of very different choices, financially and otherwise.

Hope JFKjr's revelation about election corruption in Ohio permeates the landscape and sticks to Ken Blackwell like hot tar. I think a lot of Ohioans suspect that much isn't right about him, but we could use some actual evidence to finally nail him to the wall and decisively terminate his self-serving gubernatorial delusions.

Posted by: NEOBuckeye on June 1, 2006 05:41 AM

In my wildest dreams I would be shocked and stunned if Blackwell or any GOP would get into the Ohio Governor spot after their experience with Ney, and Taft. Taft has the lowest approval ratings ever anywhere in this country. NEOBuckeye, you're from Ohio, would they do that?

Posted by: Sally on June 1, 2006 05:48 AM

Blackwell (Feb. 28, 1948, Cincinnati, Ohio - Noon Chart)

Ohio (March 1, 1803, 9:30am, Chillicothe, Ohio)

Blackwell's and Ohio's Suns conjunct at 9/10 Pisces respectively. Blackwell's Uranus conjuncts Ohio's Moon (the people find him interesting) and Blackwell's Venus has progressed to Conjunct his Uranus and Ohio's Moon, so they like him too. Transiting Pluto is square Ohio's progressed Sun so they are on some kind of self-destructive course, in 2004 T-Pluto was squaring Ohio's progressed Venus, and went on through all the investigations into their voting problems when T-Pluto was squaring the progressed Saturn.

So NEO in answer to my own question, Ohio could indeed elect Blackwell, although Ohio did not elect GWB, Blackwell gave it to him

Posted by: Anon on June 1, 2006 06:13 AM

JudiGem,

Bobby Kennedy's speech on King's murder might be one of the last unscripted moments permitted of a major political figure in our time. Think about it. There's a real authenticity about his speech that you simply do not hear from our so-called leaders today.

So unspeakably sad for the US and the World... Along with Martin Luther King and John Kennedy, I think with RFK we had a real hope for a chance at the higher path and American ideals that too often only see lip service. Their murders sent the Progressive Left into a state of collective shock that has spanned decades, breaking only recently in the knee-jerk reaction to the total idiocy of George W. Bush.

If you think losing every major progressive leader wasn't devestating to our cause and movement, imagine what it may have meant for the Right Wing cause to see their own cherished heroes, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr., Newt Gingrich and Pat Robertson, all done in by assassins. One you might be able to absorb. But four or five would probably push you back into the closet to sulk for a long while.

Of course, I'm by no means saying that this is what should have happened, for either side. There were, however, obviously, a lot of vested interests in maintaining their dominion over the established status quo at any cost. They won. And so now, here we are, 40 years after the Uranus-Pluto conjuction, and at the brink of ruin, it seems. For all of their desperate efforts, maybe the status quo didn't win after all? That reality, in the form of the upcoming Uranus-Pluto square, may turn out to be the ultimate vindication of MLK, RFK and others who showed us the better path, for at that time, we may have no other choice but to follow it.

Posted by: NEOBuckeye on June 1, 2006 06:18 AM

Anon,

My apologies. As you noted, I obviously meant RFKjr.

Posted by: NEOBuckeye on June 1, 2006 06:20 AM

Sally, I've always wondered about Uranus...certainly the people (Moon) find Blackwell 'interesting'...as Uranian energy is interesting, but that is putting such a positive spin on energy which is so totally corrupt..... I think it could also be like touching the 3rd rail on a train? I've talways sensed that Uranus can be about sudden arrival and departure...the political rise and fall, swift, sudden and out of nowhere.

Pat C....I like 'ho's reading pretty well"....of course, you did drop the W....typing is a pain. I wonder how long it will be before voice command is the norm, and typing is like ....shorthand! no one does it anymore. Speaking of Uranian concepts. Although right now, I'd say it is Neptune R that is doing all the dirty work. And then what happens if we get larengytis? LOL

Posted by: Anon on June 1, 2006 06:25 AM

Yea, verily, NEO... wise words... sad words.

Posted by: JoannaOregon on June 1, 2006 06:27 AM

Neo...you touch on exactly what I thought when watching Bobby's speech, how devastatingly unscripted and genuine a moment, so close to his own brother's murder. This is a spiritual watershed moment which we see. I think there were more, but by the time of Reagan, it was gone.

The dark side of the equation has run amok, and it will always be so. I don't believe we will have that utopian dream of a thousand years of peace (It seems to me we need an astrological signature for that, and I haven't looked). But the Uranus Pluto conjunction in 1968 produced the children soon reaching the 40 year mark, and their eyes will open. In fact, last night my daughter and husband watched Frontline on the AIDS devastation in Reagan's years of silence. They had no idea that his silence caused the death of SO many people, and that John Roberts (the chief supreme now) wrote the briefing for Reagan which could have helped so many, had Regan uttered one word about what they had found out, but he didn't, as Roberts said say NOTHING! They were just shocked at the evilness, the utter banality of that evil.
The thing about the martyrs is they live in our memories, while the icons like those you mentioned will be dirt at the base of the statues of those who stood for something good and decent and authentic. A part of human beings which is idealistic can be wrecked early in life....as those heroes of my youth were wrecked....but the dead live on, intact, and that is something we need to hold on to. We still talk of Lincoln, don't we? The martyr gives his life so that others can have hope.

It is a struggle, but I have come to think that that is the way the world works. And one has to make a choice of which side you come down on. Does one save one's own life and lose the soul? Or lose your life to save your soul....

I feel vindicated that at a dinner at an exclusive golf club in SF (on my birthday, too) in June 2004, when Ronnie Raygun passed on, we were asked to stand to honor him. This was a roomful of Republican golfers...at a CHARITY event. And I wouldn't stand, and I wouldn't pray and I wouldn't clap. It shocked the table; they all worshiped the man. But I remembered all the dead gay (and hemophiliacs, including a close friend) men....and I could NOT bring myself to be social. That was a watershed moment, and it really upset everyone there. I didn't care. I just couldn't do it. (As a matter of fact that was the day of the Venus/Uranus conjunction, June 7, 2004)

Posted by: JoannaOregon on June 1, 2006 07:19 AM

Sally, you've stated it several times before. Something is truly rotten in this state of Ohio, and probably will be for awhile. I've been curious to know the astrology behind it, and I think your last post covered it:

"Transiting Pluto is square Ohio's progressed Sun so they are on some kind of self-destructive course, in 2004 T-Pluto was squaring Ohio's progressed Venus, and went on through all the investigations into their voting problems when T-Pluto was squaring the progressed Saturn."

Ohio at one point took great pride in its' reputation as one of the most industrially-advanced states in the country, and quite possibly the world.

Something happened within the past 10 years, I think, to totally change our direction. Even with the collapse and exodus of our premier industries in the 1970s and 1980s, I don't think the state sustained an irrecoverable blow, devestating as it was. There was still a sense of being able to somehow recover from the fallout eventually.

When I think about it, the "darkness" and decay that now pervades this state did actually settle in around the time that Bush came to power in 2000, though that might not all be due to the state's own astrological transits. But whatever it's origin, it has only grown much worse since then.

Right now, there is this tremendous sense of anxiety and even hopelessness about Ohio, at least among the late-teens to 20-somethings and 30-somethings that I interact with. No one seems to feel that this state has a future, and nothing is being done on the part of our state leaders to counter that notion. Our high-school drop out rates have dramatically increased, because so many kids don't think it's even worth it to stay in school when the only jobs waiting for you after graduation are at Burger King and Wal-Mart, which you don't even need a degree for.

Even the elders in their late 60s, 70s and 80s cannot seem to recall a time this bad. With the RW Reactionaries having been so successful at rolling back New Deal gains, so many people are barely one paycheck away from total ruin. Even more disturbing are the numbers of senior citizens who are forced into working demeaning service-sector jobs just to supplement their social security checks. There will be many more joining them.

The big kicker-twist in all of this is the Piscean/Neptunian delusion, which somehow Ken Blackwell, being a Sun Pisces himself near the same degree of Ohio's Natal Sun, has been able to use to his advantage. Many people here in Ohio know that something is amiss, but they can't seem to put their finger on it. Blackwell comes along, tells them that it's the gays (it isn't) and makes a big to-do about his shot at being the first African-American Governor for Ohio or any state to the African-American churchgoing crowd, claming ideological heritage from none other than Martin Luther King(!), and actually seems to be holding the public's interest! He has entirely evaded so far, fallout from the Taft/Ney/Noe scandals.

He shouldn't even be a legitimate candidate for all of his corruption in the 2004 election. And yet, as Secretary of State, he will oversee the results of this election, even though he is also a participant in the election!

It might be worth noting, that I am what many here at AW would probably consider to be African-American, and I am totally disgusted, even revulsed by what Blackwell represents. He has the nerve to actually liken himself to MLK, who fought for everyone, of every ethnicity, background and skin color. My eyes, however, only see a self-serving charlatan whose very political career is a slap in the face of the entire civil rights movement.

I don't know what the outcome of this election will be, but I hope Ted Strickland has a lot more fight in him than Kerry. Ohio, as far as I can see, is dying. If Blackwell wins, or steals the election, short of an upheaval, they might as well turn out the lights and hold a memorial service.

the title of Morgana's thread is 'hugging the porcelain goddess' --- an expression few here seem acquainted with...

it refers to that posture we find ourselves in after a night of partying... after too much... after excessively indulging ourselves... we find ourselves wrapped around the 'porcelain' bowl, heaving the toxic excess...

this country has been 'partying' way too long... at the expense of others across the planet... we're long overdue this hangover...

don't know about you, but I am sick to my stomach of the things this (mis)administration is doing in the name of America for the good of Americans.

Haditha doesn't rally me to party... the prospect of bombing Iran doesn't put me in the mood to whoop it up (and the sound of war drums - it's not an 'illusion' - something to inflate the fear of the natives at home - haven't you heard? There's a crazy ba@#$% in the WH who has declared perpetual war)

No, 'fraid I'm hugging the 'porcelain goddess' and I don't have any idea when I will be purged.

Some how I missed the changeover from AW to the
Pat C/Pallas 1800 site. They seem to have taken
over without being asked. If you two want to communicate with each other please do it off line.

No Pallas I don't hate Israel. But I do dislike
Zionism and what it is doing to the world. There
will never be any Peace as long as the Zionists are in control of both Israel and the United States government. Until the American people realize that, there will be no return to the American dream. I served four years in the service
and I didn't do it to protect Israeli foreign policy. I did it to protect the American way of life. We need a clean sweep of the American government to get rid of pro-Zionists. Being anti-
Zionist is not anti-Semetic, anti-Jewish or anything of a kind. Regardless of what Zionists are trying to legalize. Two years ago they met with Catholics in Argentina to try to force that
on that country. Last year Austria jailed a British historian who was a holocast denier.
The Palestians deserve freedom, no to be murdered
for their thoughts. You can kvetch all you want,

I don't think the demise of a state or a nation for that matter just happens... I think it's created. By what or whom? The world money managers (pluties/olies) start by sucking out ways for the people to sustain themselves, the folks get restive, then... you know the rest. They've done it country after country, century after century. The pattern is always the same.

You're right Joanna,

I should not have confined my 'sickness' to the present regime... it goes back to when we first hit this new world... it's always been about money with Americans...

it's difficult for many to see this country for what it is... some harken for 'what used to be' and we discover more and more every day that what used to be never was...

and the demise of America certainly didn't happen overnight... it has been a long time coming...

a read a piece last night on the failure of the antiwar movement at this particular time to rally folks... and how after the struggles of the sixties when we had the momentum going, we dropped the ball... instead of moving toward creation of a third party or putting some backbone in the Democratic party, we thought we had won... we sure are not standing up now...

[WV, I came to a-world after Pat C --- probably just seems I've been here forever because I talk so much :-)

I think one of the reasons the U.S. is so pro-Israel, wv, is that Israel has a democracy and is such a successful country in spite of being the unwanted child in the Mideast -- successful economically and culturally. It is a healthy country in many ways, the way it has cultivated it's resources. As far as I know, when the land that used to be known as Palestine was split up, both Jew and Arab were given equal parts. I don't know if the U.S. has been playing favorites all these years (and, if so, hasn't also Russia?), or it is just that the Arab cultures have their own obstacles to development (I don't quite understand it). It doesn't have to be the lack of democracy because I am sure they have been other forms of enlightened governments - it is the rulers, not the system.

I, too, wish that Israel would withdraw from these areas and allow the Palestinians to live in peace. In spite of what any of you think about Zionism (and my understanding is that Zionism was the driving force to give a home to Jews after the Holocaust), Israel IS at a security risk in the Mideast, now more than ever, with terrorists having weapons, and some of the Arab countries harboring terrorists. Israel is not acting in a vacumn.

Now, if Hamas, now that it is part of the government, renounced it's pledge to destroy Israel and the president of Iran did not say it wanted to wipe Israel off the map, but instead these people expressed the willingness to work towards peace, I believe Israel would not be so heavy handed and would be a willing partner.

And, possibly, if the U.S. and Russia (and whatever other countries) took a step back and said work it out between yourselves, something good might come out of it --- or....it might degenerate into a very bad situation. We don't know.

Other than that, I have been observing some of the exchanges on this board, and believe (and have always believed) that there a way of stating one's opinion, in a way that leaves room for others' opinions and feelings, and, without making the next person "wrong." No one has a premium on the truth or knows everything. It's ok to disagree - why can't it be done politely? We have to get beyond mirroring anger back at each other, people, and stop, take some breaths, and really think think before we speak/write sometimes, myself included (especially with my husband :-)

I think underneath these somewhat heated or angry or irritated exchanges, we all agree on the basics and we all love each other.

There....I've said my peace.

I'm still here wv. Lurking.
The flip flopping ideas that uber bloggers think are progressive seem stuck in the old paradigm.
Immigration , gays= wedge issues.
I tend to wonder if it's a projection of their own prejudice or a projection of wanting to work it out of their psyche.
Reality= Voting machines, war.

Plus I work, think some people have way too much time on their hands to be blogging all day long. That seems weird, unless they are paid for it. Or some just complain how in the hole they are. Wonder why? Actually, AW has many brilliant bloggers who really rock and keep it short and simple even if it's personal. Also, I like the diversity of opinions debated in a classy way which has changed.

Jm, your train feels off the track again.

And the RW (RedWing)ers have nothing to add but the same old Thug personal smears and name calling, passive-aggressive anger that really needs to be directed at the one's who perpetrate lies and keep them in the rat hole. How else can they sleep nights with all that guilt without projecting the blame onto someone else. They're just pissed that the disrupting got disrupted by the new paradigm= NOT PC. I've had it with PC. PC got us in this mess with that lemon in the WH and destroying our constitution. PC keeps us slaves to meanies who really care less. Durga is no airy-fairy
goddess, she rides a tiger and destroys ignorance=ego. Let out the laserbeam sword from your third eye and determine what feels real. Not words from cyberspace from over zealous cub reporters. Too many voices, not enough braincells.

Peace to all even the Freeps and lost souls.

A state of emergency
Bush is a danger to the constitution in his wartime capacity as commander in chief

Sidney Blumenthal
Thursday June 1, 2006

Guardian

I agree with you, Bhakti, that we shouldn't be passive PCers (although Gandhi & King were pretty successful with their active passivity). I think we should be kings and queens of swords, clear and knowing where we stand (when we can know this - and sometimes it is better to be in the gray zone) but choose those moments very discriminantly. Otherwise, we run the risk of setting ourselves up as authorities, making judgements about others being wrong. What say you? That kind of thing can be construed as putting others down and invites striking back. I am exploring these issues as I, too, want to learn better and higher ways to be.

"...and how after the struggles of the sixties when we had the momentum going, we dropped the ball..." But, Jo... remember the quick succession of assassinations of key progressive leaders... MLK & Kennedy bros... (none of the monsters were assassinated!)... that royally stunned the heart out of a naive progressive movement. And we note that folks were already well on the way to conserving gas/oil thru Carter's admonitions to the country. And many other things besides. How is it that after the likes of nixon & its good ol' boyz, the fascists were able to move right back in to Square One after only 4 short years with the raygun creep?! It's was all planned... there's been no "spontaneous" elections of the people, for the people, by the people... it's all been orchestrated to leave the people out. Then the people, having been trained by... well, our churches est'd by same pluties/olies et al for instance... quickly "take the nebulous blame & guilt" for the rapes they, themselves, suffer.

Now, says the woman, if I just hadn't been in that place at that time; if I had just worn that black burka; if I had just not gone to school; if I had just been a better cook, scrubber, cleaner, breeder, caregiver of everybody... then I wouldn't have been raped. That's what the raper told me anyway, & the raper must be right because he has all the money, institutions, & methods of punishment, torture & death... & god.

Can't we see?!?!? It's a 5,000 year old set-up! And a shabby thread-bare one at that!

back to Haditha...

Iraq's prime minister said on Tuesday his patience was wearing thin with excuses from U.S. troops that they kill civilians by "mistake" and said he would launch an investigation into killings at Haditha last year.
http://tinyurl.com/qhdge

pessimist at The Left Coaster suggests:

He better look more closely at the excuse that will be offered for this travesty:

U.S. forces killed two Iraqi women — one of them about to give birth — when the troops shot at a car that failed to stop at an observation post in a city north of Baghdad, Iraqi officials and relatives said Wednesday. Nabiha Nisaif Jassim, 35, was being raced to the maternity hospital in Samarra by her brother when the shooting occurred Tuesday. Jassim, the mother of two children, and her 57-year-old cousin, Saliha Mohammed Hassan, were killed by the U.S. forces, according to police Capt. Laith Mohammed and witnesses.

Maybe that Iraqi family should be glad that this child won't have to suffer the 'alarming malnutrition' that is endemic in Iraq:

A total of four million Iraqis, roughly 15 per cent of the population, were in dire need of humanitarian aid including food, up from 11 per cent in a 2003 report, the survey of more than 20,000 Iraqi households found.

Family values?

Don't make me choke!

oohh, and did you notice that Iraqi children are even more hungry than they were after 12 years of sanctions... bet that democracy we're bringing 'em tastes really good... who needs a full belly when you've got the experts in democracy setting up your government?

standing in these gale force winds, I sometimes forget... :-)

remember, I forget when, maybe someone here will recall... months ago - maybe a year or more, we were talking about tPluto bringing power to all --- that would mean (wo)men also... and how the 'Patriarchs' were going to cling tightly to what they perceive to be their rightful place - in power? U.S. asks Internet firms to save data

Posted by: Pat C on June 1, 2006 03:56 PM

Bush has heightened this problem by casting aside any kind of movement toward peace... this began when he came into the Oval Office... he has referred to Israel many times as 'our ally' yet we have no treaty with Israel. And in the 'Coalition of the Willing' the State of Israel was not listed, however, we have used their advice and counsel with regard to 'guerilla' fighting and interrogation of prisoners. There are Israelis settling in northern Iraq with the Kurds, helping them to create their own autonomy... and in many other ways they have behind involved in Iraq... but only behind the scenes. The Likkud Party was very involved in Iraq. Now comes Iran, and again they are involved.

My comments are not about Jews. They are about the government of Israel and the government of the USA.

NEO, can Blackwell be MLK? didn't Bush take that spot for himself? I know he's taken Lincoln, FDR, JFK, McKinley, Washington, Truman, and I am almost positive Bush has taken Martin Luther King. I would expect Bush to take over the persona of Washington Carver before his term is up, that is if he knows who Washington Carver is and his contribution to America.

It is infuritiating for people like Bush and Blackwell and all the others who do it, to intimate they embody the best of past leaders.

An amazing thing for me is the persona these people do have and it's creepy. I am stunned that people don't see through people like Frist, Delay, Bush, Blackwell, and the list goes on. Blackwell does have a grand fire trine with Venus/Mars/Jupiter, so people really do like him, but have you ever heard him interviewed, Al Sharpton isn't terribly impressed with him, he is awful in interviews, but Ohio does love him.

Geronimo's family call on Bush to help return his skeleton

The great grandson of the Apache leader Geronimo has appealed to the big chief in the White House to help recover the remains of his famous relative - purportedly stolen more than 90 years ago by a group of students - including the President's grandfather.

The story that members of Yale University's secret Skull and Bones society took the remains - including a skull and femur - from the burial site in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, has long been part of the university's lore. But a university historian recently recovered a letter from 1918 that appears to support the story that members of the society did indeed take the remains while serving with a group of army volunteers from Yale, stationed at the fort during the First World War.

The students - among them, Mr Bush's grandfather Prescott - apparently returned with the remains and kept them in their society's headquarters at the university in New Haven, Connecticut. The society's initiation rite reportedly involves kissing a skull, referred to as "Geronimo", usually held in a glass case.

The letter from society member Winter Mead to fellow member F Trubee Davison, made public earlier this month, said: "The skull of the worthy Geronimo the Terrible, exhumed from its tomb at Fort Sill by your club... is now safe inside the [tomb] together with his well worn femurs, bit and saddle horn."

The famous Indian chief's great-grandson is appealing for President Bush's help in recovering the remains. Speaking from his home in Mescalero, New Mexico, Harlyn Geronimo said: "I am requesting his help in getting the remains - the skull and the femur - returned, if they were taken. According to our traditions the remains of this sort, especially in this state when the grave was desecrated ... need to be reburied with the proper rituals. To return the dignity and let his spirits rest in peace ... is important in our tradition." The letter was discovered by the Yale historian Marc Wortman and published in the Yale Alumni Magazine. Mr Wortman said there was still scepticism as to whether the remains were those of Geronimo - something that could probably only be proved by carrying out DNA tests.

WV,
these are the questions I asked you, and which you didn't answer, instead attacking Pat C and myself thusly: "Some how I missed the changeover from AW to thePat C/Pallas 1800 site. They seem to have taken over without being asked. If you two want to communicate with each other please do it off line." and "We seem to be missing a lot of the old crowd, and the newbies since you two started harping. I miss them and their ideas."

These comments were uncalled for. My posting links and paras about Gold and astrological info about 18 year economic cycles and Pat's appreciation of it, and mine of her links is neither posting to each other, or taking over the site.

I've been on this site for years without saying anything in response to your constant Israel bashing. Now it would be nice for you to answer these questions instead of going off into a diatribe about Argentina and how the Zionists have taken over the government of the United States and Congress.

I'm going to remind you that the Congress or at least the House is almost entirely made up of far right extremist Christians. If they are co-operating with the Neo-Cons/Zionists it is for two reasons, 1) so that they can do as you have done, and as the world has done for 60 centuries: position one group to lay blame on, and 2)because the Robertson's, Falwell's and far right Xian extremists including Junior, have been making inroads in cooperation with Israel for years because they are hopeful that they can push the Middle East into Armageddon and the return of their God. Politically, of course capturing all the oil in the Middle East is a great incentive for the multi-nationals.

These are the questions I wrote for you and I meant seriously. I know some of the answers. If you would stop spouting propaganda and emotionally and think about why - I would like to have your answers as to why the Palestinians are not flourishing in manufacturing and agriculture and jobs and businesses as the Israelis are across the divide. They both started out with the same type of land. They both received monies-subsidies from the US and other countries. Why are the Palestinians dependent on Israel for jobs.

Now please think about it, without emotion and vitriol, but rationally and explain to me why Palestine has not flourished economically, socially, agriculturally.

I wrote: Quote:
1)wasn't Palestine's union's marching awhile ago cause Israel wouldn't give them access to Israeli jobs as long as they kept sending suicide bombers into Israel?

2) can you get the Palestinians and Hamas to create jobs for the Palestinians IN Palestine other than suicide bombing?that would be a positive move on Hamas' part, wouldn't you think?

3) Wonder why no one does send jobs to Palestine ? Do you think the Canadian Unions will send jobs to Palestine?

Tell me, WV, why don't the Palestinians have jobs?

Pallas, Bakhti, Pat C and Jo seem to be the recipients of some mean spirited posts and it would be great if everybody could refrain from continuing these types of attacks. I suggest everybody take a deep breath and let some light swirl around inside to dissolve the negativity. Then breathe it out until it is all gone. Return to center.

It's a beautiful day! Enjoy it and the peace that we still all enjoy, in spite of our disquiet with all that is ocurring in the US at this point in time. AW always has been our quiet space where we come to understand, find out news, and share insights (the site does erupt from time to time with these personal attacks which are quite unfortunate). Let's return to peace and harmony. Sally deserves nothing less. As Bakhti so astutely pointed out ... this is not the place for these types of activities. Perhaps the answer is to not respond ... to not engage ... the stone thrown sinks to the bottom of the pool and is covered in silt ...

Tying the two posts together about the Dixie Chicks and bio-warfare:

Last night the Dixie Chics were on Larry King. Two of them are sisters, and made a comment that had my hair standing on end.

The two sisters, who I think grew up in Texas (where abnormalities in frogs and other animals have been noted for years) mentioned that they both had to have in vitro treatments to have children, and then they said, everyone of their friends is going through the same thing.

The girls must be in their late 20's or early 30's.

And it occurred to me the younger generations are having problems getting pregnant.

Why? Chlorine in the water? chemicals in our food?
Could it be that early baby boomers and before didn't have these problems I because processed and canned foods weren't prevalent until long after the war ?

The DLC and Israel

Zionist Democrats
By MICHAEL CARMICHAEL

Last week the newly elected Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, visited Washington to meet with George Bush in order to endorse America's plan to attack Iran in his address to Congress. In his strident appeal to Congress, Olmert sought nothing less than to incite war between America and Iran. Prior to his stroke, Ariel Sharon was engaged in fomenting wars between America and Iraq, and he had promised his circle of admirers that he would move Iran into the cross hairs of America at the first opportunity. Olmert is Sharon's political heir, and he has inherited a legacy of incitement and fomentation of wars in the Middle East between America and Islamic nations that are militarily weak and rich in oil.

To coincide with Olmert's visit, the Democratic Leadership Council published a statement celebrating "Zionism" and condemning Islam. If their publication had not come from a man who purports to be a leader of the political opposition to the deeply unpopular right-wing Republican regime one might be inclined to surmise that it had been issued by the so-called Israel Lobby.

How Would a Patriot Act? Defending American Values from a President Run Amok (Paperback)
by Glenn Greenwald

snip

"The notion that the president has the right to act in violation of duly enacted laws," Greenwald writes, "would have been repellent to all the founders, including the great American revolutionary Thomas Paine, who wrote in his legendary 1776 pamphlet Common Sense that those who claim the power President Bush is claiming -- namely, to act in violation of the law -- are claiming the power of a king."

As we write this review, we have just finished talking with Greenwald for an upcoming BuzzFlash interview. He is a lucid thinker, steeped in history, and knows that Bush and Cheney are not the first chief executives to illegally spy on Americans. But, no administration has broken the law so openly, so frequently, and with such impunity. No administration has launched such a broad attack on the Constitution. No administration has sought -- in essence -- to replace so completely the rule of law with the personal rule of unitary executive authority.

Nixon came close, but no cigar. Bush and Cheney win -- hands down -- in the race to marginalize the Constitution into virtual irrelevance.

I've never been involved in a war. Those that pontificate about it should be upfront about their own experiences. And I certainly think in a certain sense the Marines (Marines are not soldiers, btw) are victims of this war as well, just as Lt. William Calley and the My Lei soldiers were. Stress, fear and the wrong kind of training will do that. But no excuse can wipe this (alleged) horrific slate clean.

The U.S. military investigation of how Marine commanders handled the reporting of events last November in the Iraqi town of Haditha, where troops allegedly killed 24 Iraqi civilians, will conclude that some officers gave false information to their superiors, who then failed to adequately scrutinize reports that should have caught their attention, an Army official said yesterday.

The three-month probe, led by Army Maj. Gen. Eldon Bargewell, is also expected to call for changes in how U.S. troops are trained for duty in Iraq, the official said.

This is worse than Abu Ghraib because it involves innocent civilians in a much clearer fashion than incidents against prisoners (the prisoners may or may not be guilty, but the perception and presumption of guilt is very different). And of course, dead is different and more final than abused, without minimizing in any what what took place at Abu Ghraib.

Any hint of cover-up is its own stain. The proud Marines I know are aghast at this, and they refuse to accept this as SOP or policy in any way. But those who refuse to draw any parallells with Vietnam really need to do some background reading and catch up with reality. Bush and Rumsfeld bear ultimate responsibility now just as much as LBJ and McNamara did then. They will deny it, but they are cowards.

And Vietnam has never really gone away. Swift Boats For Truth arose out of the lingering revisionist history some of the Vietman vets feel compelled to write. So expect this (alleged) political disaster (known as Iraq) to stir up memories of the earlier one (known as Vietnam). It has to. The same kind of people are making the same kind of mistakes.

As Mars in Cancer finishes along with the NN in Aries active emotional combat will most likely subside a bit. That's a lot of Moon/Mars. But the release will prove to be valuable.

We have a lot of Pisces/Leo coming up which stimulates the imagination and probably nothing can prevent this.

Everyone feels the pain whether the government is committing atrocities or not. There is always something that gets next to us. And there is little we can do about the whole collective. Each individual has its own unique MO and that too is unchangeable by others. It serves a good purpose and helps each one survive in a hostile world.
It's a struggle to cooperate and you can see that democracy really isn't easy.

Also, as Sally has stated many times, we are on a runaway train headed for a wreck. I doubt that anyone has the strength to keep it on track now. It's taken on a life of its own and probably the end result will be several trains clipping along at nice speeds on many tracks. The tendency is to hang on for dear life but we can usually roll with the punches and eventually loosen the grip. Sagittarians, of course, know this.

Morgana, speaking of things that go 'bump in the night' and other horrors... today is first day of the hurricane season... the Reddhedd at Firedoglake has a few words:

It’s Hurricane Season: Know Where Your Levee Is?
By Christy Hardin Smith

Hurricane season in the United States officially begins today, and NOAA is predicting a very active season again this year. How are things going in the Gulf Coast region — in New Orleans and all over the coastline of Louisiana, along the coastline in Mississippi, in Alabama, in Georgia, in Texas? Slowly, at best.

And if this is the best we can do for our fellow Americans in need, what in the hell are we going to do if there is a catastrophic chemical, biological or nuclear attack on a packed urban environment? With the national guard and reserves stretched thin to breaking by the war of choice in Iraq, what sort of planning — if any — has been done for contingencies if we have weather emergencies, fires and/or terrorist or other attacks all at one time?

Feeling any safer? Me neither.

Scout Prime has been doing some exceptional reporting on this issue from the time the hurricane hit. She’s really poured her heart into this issue, which you can see a glimpse of in this YouTube video of her last visit to NOLA. (This is set to Nanci Griffith singing "From a Distance" — a favorite of mine that Bette Midler also did a few years back — and I wanted to give everyone a tissue alert; it’s a weeper.)

Scout has a report this morning on TPM Cafe that is a must read:

wv: I couldn't agree more w/ your comments in re global and US domination by Israeli-Zionists. (I see it as Jewish Supremacy -- the flip side of White Supremacy) Israel was established on the racist ideology of a pure Judea-State (see Theodore Herzl's writings) - and eerily similar to Hitler's vision of an Aryan Nation - Moreover, Zionists committed brutal atrocities against the Palestinians long before the establishment of their rogue state, on May 14th, 1948. (www.deathmasters.com) The decline of democracy in the US can be directly linked to the ZOG influence (AIPAC) in the DC & throughout US politics -- now cloaked in the political euphemism of Neoconservatives.
At one time, Jews of Conscience were appalled by the Zionist ideology -- but if they spoke out -- their reputations and businesses were ruined -- they were labelled as self hating Jews -- or silenced by Mossad assassination -- i.e. Jack Bernstein.
There is no point in debating the moral and ethical politics of real democracy w/ pro Israel Zionist types -- as it would be as futile as arguing with a dead Nazi -- since Zionism holds the same hypnotic brainwashing - fear-mongering fascinations as Fascism did for the German people. A people who cannot forgive or learn to assimilate are doomed to perish by their own self poisoning ideologies -- ergo, it is pointless to hope that rabid Zionists will change for the better or embrace a world where all can live in peace together.
Philomena

--- snip from wv's comment: "No Pallas I don't hate Israel. But I do dislike
Zionism and what it is doing to the world. There
will never be any Peace as long as the Zionists are in control of both Israel and the United States government. Until the American people realize that, there will be no return to the American dream. ...."

lol Jo was pondering hurricane season and ran a chart for today at 12:01 am. pondering it. I believe there's an astrological weather site may be on Sally's splash page, it'd be interesting to see how one would read a hurricane season chart, since the season is 6 mos? Right ? I live in earthquake country, humor me.

Also on the horizon is the mars/saturn conj. (6/18/2006) 8 Leo. Chimp in chief finds it hitting just inside the 1st h. cusp coming up on his mercury and pluto. eeeww. With his latest bout of meglomania saber rattling at Iran I suspect he could set off yet another conflagration. I'm not a mars/saturn officiando this looks like one of those trains mentioned above.

The 6/18 date of the Mars/Saturn conj. is interesting. War? Other conflict? Or a wall to stop it.

The NN will be at 0 Aries conjunct the Moon on that day, and Jupiter will square. Looks intriguing.

Thanks for your input Morgana... yes the season is about six mos., lasting until November, iirc. Yes, I don't trust Dubya... he could bomb Iran or march into Syria... that's the tragedy with him, you can't predict his mood...

and whatever, as JM says, it will be intriguing...

It's never what happens to us or what someone does that makes the difference in our lives, it's our individual response to what happens that makes the difference. A "train wreck" is only an indication that we (the US) isn't headed in the direction we thought or even that many of us wanted, but we are going in a new direction and the past has been "wrecked," but I look at the people who have lost everything in their world and they keep picking up and going on. We do too for that matter, but do we go on looking for opportunities or lamenting our plight. That's where the control is in our hands.

When I have a client that asks me "what is going to happen?" I always tell them "something, something is going to happen" now what are the strengths and weaknesses you have to deal with what is happening, and we have to ask ourselves the same question, how can we add to a solution, even in small ways.

There were women who fought for the right to vote, people who fought for civil rights and many of these people never lived to see it happen, but that didn't stop their passion, their vision, their belief in something better and trying to make it better. The same goes for all of us now. Pluto is on the Galactic Center, history tells us that massive changes are on the way, some of them will be good and some of them won't be, that isn't any different than life has always been. But it does offer faith and hope for the future and for mankind. The sky has fallen and it has fallen before in history and mankind is still here, we will make it through this or not but for me I never let go of the vision.

I'm terribly upset about the latest reports of 4 hurricanes expected to be Category 3 + , Wilma was just reaching a 3 and did tremendous damage to my home and town....so I very badly want to get out of here - more easily said than done - prices are falling, and houses are not moving - and my roofer still hasn't shown up.

Frankly, I'm horrified by many of the comments here. As one of the astrologers wrote, the Mars/Saturn (cruelty) conjunction is already in effect.

The author of the neo-con agenda is a man of Japanese descent, a professor in California by the name of Fukiyama (sic). Is he a Zionist ?

I wouldn't know a zionist if he/she were under my nose. But I do know bigotry when I see, hear, read it.

For Shame.

A natural human behavior is to run for cover and hang together when real threat has arrived. 9/11 was like this and this country is not used to it. Now with the lunation in the G.Center and also touching the Gem/Sag opposition of Saturn and Pluto when the attack occurred, I think we are revisiting the issue. Many have been hovering in fear waiting for the next attack.

But now some are feeling like this attack is not imminent and it might be safe to venture out. We are in a quandary, I think, and the tensions of overcrowding and waiting have mounted. This can cause a lot of sniping in the bunker. People cling and protect one another when threatened but when they no longer feel the immediate danger, they want more freedom and movement. At this point we are still unsure.

I think as the NN transits Pisces and squares these points we will alternate between fear, despair, and futility, and optimism and the urge to venture out again with enthusiasm.

Posted by: jm on June 2, 2006 12:17 AM

There is some real darkness here that has endeared itself masquerading as light. That is not rare, because places of light attract such forces regularly.

You are more transparant than you realize, and you can be sure the truth will surface sooner or later. It always does.

To all of those who tout the 'success' of Israel. Much of that success comes at the expense of AMERICAN TAXPAYERS!!!! Isreal is a welfare state. The subsidies that the Israeli govt gives its citizens would shame the so-called 'welfare queens' disparaged by Reagan. We give Israel billions of dollars outright and under the table. And, my god, the military support, again outright in terms of warfare hardware and blackOps. It never ends. I don't think the zionists want peace, they want it all. Many jews are like blacks in that no criticism is acceptable. Yet, I find some of the most vocal and viscious criticism of blacks comes from jewish conservatives. Jews in this country need to be Americans first.

In a sidebar editorial to today's exposé on what Robert F. Kennedy suggests was a stolen 2004 Presidential Election in Rolling Stone a call is made for an official investigation into the Electronic Voting Machine scam.

Sub-titled "Electronic voting machinees pose a grave threat to democracy," the editorial details one confirmed problem after another with Electronic Voting Machines (most of which we've been reporting here at The BRAD BLOG for the past two years). Included are details on how Diebold scammed their way into Ohio and helped push the Help America Vote Act through congress in 2002 (as we originally reported our own exposé here.)

"Enough." the RS editorial concludes, "Only a complete investigation by federal authorities can determine the full extent of any bribery and vote rigging that has taken place. The public must be assured that the power to count the votes -- and to recount them, if necessary -- will not be ceded to for-profit corporations with a vested interest in superseding the will of the people. America's elections are the most fundamental element of our democracy -- not a market to be privatized by companies like Diebold."

Jeanie- thanks for your thoughtful response. I'll contact you by email over the weekend to continue the discussion.

On a separate note of interest (sparked by Pat C's comment), I came across a news story on a geek site about new video games which are being promoted by the mega-churches. In the games – which are obviously targeted at an audience which buys first-person shooter games (fill in the demographic) and are based on the "Left Behind" book series – the player fights on either the side of good Christians killing evil forces, or part of Satan's army. It seems that this is further conditioning to spread public acceptance for a "legal" crackdown (er, crusade) in America against all the non-believers, terrorists, immigrants, astrologers, communists, democrats, debtors, etc. After all, what do we need all those detention camps for?

Yes, indeed, dark forces masquerading as light, Pat.

One of the things Hannah Arendt talks about is the way totalitarian movements construct an entire parallel reality, and then insist that that reality be substituted for the actual reality. You see this with everything from what’s going on in the science class, to the construction of foreign policy, to the promotion of abstinence education to the kind of fictitious numbers that are given for the Bush tax cuts. It’s something quite new in American politics – this idea almost of radical relativism – the idea that truth is determined by the person who has the power to impose it.

Haditha Update
by TChris

When did the president learn that Marines may have murdered civilians in Haditha?

The White House said Thursday that it took nearly a month for President Bush to learn that the military was investigating reports that Marines murdered unarmed civilians in Iraq.

How did the president learn about the deaths in Haditha?

On Tuesday, White House spokesman Tony Snow said President Bush learned of the killings only after a reporter from Time magazine asked questions.

What is the U.S. doing in response to the deaths?

The top U.S. general in Iraq on Thursday ordered American commanders to conduct ethical training on battlefield conduct following reports that Marines massacred unarmed civilians in the town of Haditha.

BBC News has piece Gertie posted about upthread

New 'Iraq massacre' tape emerges

New footage
The BBC has uncovered new video evidence that US forces may have been responsible for the deliberate killing of 11 innocent Iraqi civilians. The video appears to challenge the US military's account of events that took place in the town of Ishaqi in March.

The US said at the time four people died during a military operation, but Iraqi police claimed that US troops had deliberately shot the 11 people.

A spokesman for US forces in Iraq told the BBC an inquiry was under way.

The new evidence comes in the wake of the alleged massacre in Haditha, where US marines are suspected of killing up to 24 Iraqi civilians in November 2005 and covering up the deaths.

The incident is being investigated by the Pentagon.

The US military has announced that coalition troops in Iraq are to have ethical training following the furore surrounding the alleged killings.

For the next 30 days, they would receive lessons in "core warrior values", a military statement said.

The news of ethical training for US-led troops is likely to be greeted with cynicism by many Iraqis, the BBC's Ian Pannell in Baghdad says, as the troops have long been accused of deliberately targeting civilians.

Cross-checked

The video pictures obtained by the BBC appear to contradict the US account of the events in Ishaqi, about 100km (60 miles) north of Baghdad, on 15 March 2006.

this is a different instance - a 3rd town - all coming from Iraqi officers

In another town, Iraqis say US killed civilians
Wed May 31, 2006 11:00am ET

SAMARRA, Iraq (Reuters) - U.S. forces denied on Wednesday a new accusation, from Iraqi officers, that American troops killed unarmed civilians in their home this month.

Amid mounting public interest in the United States in an inquiry into a suspected massacre at Haditha, the allegations about the deaths of three people at Samarra are among many that Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said this week were trying his patience with the U.S. military's "excuses" over "mistakes".

Iraqi army and police officers and several people who said they were witnesses and relatives of the dead said U.S. soldiers killed two women, aged 60 and 20, and a mentally handicapped man in their home on May 4 after insurgents fired on the troops.

A friend of mine, a jew, whose ancestors lived in Palestine long before the European jews showed up told me that she is so grateful to have "married well" and was therefore able to leave Israel. She said that being a native jew in Israel was like being black in America. she said the jews from Europe brought their racism with them.
Pallas, you are brilliant and your description of the end of our age and the bleakness of realizing that our way of life will surely be lost moved me to tears.
And, Pallas your description of the Palestinians sounds and feels to me like the racist hatred I grew up with only the Palestinians of my childhood were black people.
I guess this is what is tearing us apart- this projection of darkness on to minorities or those who are weak. I know that the atrocities in Iraq are not only from exhustion and confusion but from the consciousness that calls people "ragheads" "sandniggers" and swears that "these people aren't like us"

Main article: History of Ancient Mesopotamia
The name Baiyn nahraiyn is derived from Arabic (Arabic:بين نهرين English: between two rivers ). Arabic and Hebrew are believed to be derived from ancient Middle-Eastern languages such as Akkadian, Phoenician, Assyrian, Aramaic, Nabataean and Sumerian, whom are Semitic languages.

Overview map of ancient Mesopotamia

Mesopotamia has been home to some of the major ancient civilizations, including the Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians, and Assyrians. It was also home to major prehistoric cultures such as the Ubiad and Jemdat Nasr, as well as the city Jarmo. Some of the important Mesopotamian leaders were Gilgamesh, Sargon, and Hammurabi.

Saving America: Leo Strauss and the neoconservatives

Shadia Drury gets to the bottom of neoconservatism.

By Shadia B. Drury

11 September 2003 "Evatt Foundation" -- There is a growing awareness that a reclusive German émigré philosopher is the inspiration behind the reigning neoconservative ideology of the Republican Party. Leo Strauss has long been a cult figure within the North American academy. And even though he had a profound antipathy to both liberalism and democracy, his disciples have gone to great lengths to conceal the fact. And for the most part they have succeeded -- as the article by James Atlas in The New York Times and the article by Seymour Hersh in The New Yorker indicate. This picture of Strauss as the great American patriot, who was a lover of freedom and democracy is pure fabrication. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The trouble with the Straussians is that they are compulsive liars. But it is not altogether their fault. Strauss was very pre-occupied with secrecy because he was convinced that the truth is too harsh for any society to bear; and that the truth-bearers are likely to be persecuted by society - specially a liberal society - because liberal democracy is about as far as one can get from the truth as Strauss understood it.

Morgana,

There is such a dearth of astrological information and discussion about NZ on the Internet, one would think astrology was outlawed there. The more who can contribute – the merrier!

Dear Pallas, Philomena, et al:

I've read Fukuyama's most famous work, The End of History and the Last Man, and disagree that he was the author of the neocon agenda, although he certainly supported it. Recently, he repudiated it as an ideology:
http://news.scotsman.com/international.cfm?id=266122006

FWIW, the concept of the last man is a very, very interesting one. Mary Shelley wrote a novel titled "The Last Man" in the early 1800s as a harsh critique of male-dominated society. Mary also wrote Frankenstein. You can read a hypertext version of the book online at:

http://www.rc.umd.edu/editions/mws/lastman/intro.htm#int

Nietzsche continued the idea of the Last Man in his work, Also sprach Zarathustra ("Thus spoke Zarathustra"), but in a gender-neutral way.

Fukuyama added the "Last Man" to his book, I think, to claim a certain philosophical legitimacy he didn't earn, but that's my opinion.

Hey Philo, either Colbert or Stewart had on some guy who was a neo-con and author of the movement but has since left it, he was definitely of asian descent. He just wrote a book bashing Bush's execution of PNAC or something along that line.

Also Noam Chomsky has a new book out..good stuff.

Just one thing more: I couldn't find the post again while rushing to get this out so that one of the young ones can have a whirl. Anyway, to whomever was talking about the jews/Israelis telling the US what to do and possibly taking over the world, etc I can only say, "are you kidding?" Please!! There are so few jews in the world as a group they will never take over anything but I remind you that western civilization that we live in and take for granted comes from the jews and the blessed Torah. Please learn to respect and revere your elders. If you are referring to the plutocrats I believe that those people are far beyond race, religion, creed but do encourage such divisions in us, the seething masses.
Again love to all. And I refer you to Starpath Visions and his deliniation of the Israel chart. I don't agree with all of the thoughts there but there are important (to me at least) insights there.

Morganna -- I own a news group on Yahoo -- http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Global_Media_Lightning_Headlines/ -- and I posted this article yesterday about the Evangelical minister's paramilitary video ... Scary at best... horrifying at worst... these cretin assholes are serious ....

Mega-church minister linked to paramilitary video game (Updated)

purpose is to remake America as a Christian theocracy, and establish
its worldly vision of the dominion of Christ over all aspects of
life. You are issued high-tech military weaponry, and instructed to
engage the infidel on the streets of New York City. You are on a
mission - both a religious mission and a military mission -- to
convert or kill Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, gays, and
anyone who advocates the separation of church and state - especially
moderate, mainstream Christians. Your mission is "to conduct
physical and spiritual warfare"; all who resist must be taken out
with extreme prejudice. You have never felt so powerful, so driven
by a purpose: you are 13 years old. You are playing a real-time
strategy video game whose creators are linked to the empire of mega-
church pastor Rick Warren, best selling author of The Purpose Driven
Life.

hudson's diary :: ::
The game, slated for release by October 2006 in advance of the
Christmas shopping rush, has been previewed at video game
exhibitions, and reviewed by major newspapers and magazines. But
until now, no fan or critic has pointed out the controversial game's
connection to Mr. Warren or his dominion's agenda.

Time magazine has described Mr. Warren as one of the nation's most
influential Evangelical Christian leaders. He describes himself as
a "stealth evangelist" and describes his training programs as "a
stealth movement, that's flying beneath the radar, that's changing
literally hundreds, even thousands of churches around the world." He
claims that he has sold tens of millions of copies of The Purpose
Driven Life by developing a worldwide network of pastors.

The international director of Mr. Warren's Purpose Driven Church,
Mark Carver, is a former investment banker who serves on the
Advisory Board of the corporation created in October 2001 to develop
and market this game. The creators plan to market their game using
the same network marketing techniques that Mr. Warren used to turn
The Purpose Driven Life into a commercial success.

Glad you are back, Philo...

I, too, ask this question....why do Americans have to bear the burden of Israel? Why does Israel come before the needs of Americans? It is a question, not an anti-Israeli statement. It is a question which needs to be addressed. And I know more than one Palestinian who was prosperous until Israel turned hard right....and they ended up in this country, some are or were hairdressers, another works in nursing and is one of the kindest, sweetest and most generous hearted person I've met in a long time; they work, and some of them have little children or cousins or siblings with white hair from fear of what they've endured - not only from their own government, but from Israel (and I am sure there are Israeli children as badly damaged.) WHY?

I think this country is headed for the big kabowski....as all countries which become militantly rightwinged eventually suffer the crushing of their hubris.

I saw a photo retrospective today of Shomei Tomatsu called The Skin of Japan. It encompased 50 years of his photos, most of them post war, 50's and 60's. He photographed only what was real to him; he was commissioned also to photograph the vitims of Nagasaki. These are stunningly beautiful, such exquisit photos of living horror. But the panels which explained each of the rooms said it well....when he was a youth in the 1930's, Japan was rightwing military jingoistic with dreams of being conquerors....and in the 1940's, they set out to conquer....but they were crushed completely, then occupied (and still are - Okinowa) ....and amazingly, as a people, they were able to assimilate. America rebuilt Japan....but the people loved how the Americans 50 years ago were generous and supportive. WHat has happened?

Who will rebuild America? We are rightwing militant train to hell now; no more "choclate and chewing gum" (one of the names of Tomatsu's books) Who will be nice to America with this new MyLai. Haditha.

It seems as if the victims become the conquerors and then the conquerors become the victims. Is this the balance which spirit requires?

And is that our train wreck?

Zionism is but one of the many the tentacles of the Zionist Banking systems established by the Mayer Amschel Rothschild family...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rothschilds
Rothschild Coat of ArmsThe Mayer Amschel Rothschild family (often referred to simply as The Rothschilds), is an eminent international banking and finance dynasty of German Jewish origin that established operations across Europe, and was ennobled by the Austrian and British governments.

Zionism
The Rothschilds were supporters of the State of Israel, and Baron Edmond James de Rothschild was a patron of the first settlement in Palestine at Rishon-LeZion. In 1917 Walter Rothschild, 2nd Baron Rothschild was the addressee of the Balfour Declaration, which committed the British government to the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people. As prominent Jews active in politics as well as business, the Rothschild family has been a target for anti-semitism throughout its history. Many family members were persecuted by the Nazis, and one, Elisabeth de Rothschild, died in Ravensbrück concentration camp; however she was a Rothschild only by marriage and had been born a Catholic.

In 1901, with no male heir to take it on, the Frankfurt House closed its doors after more than a century in business. It was not until 1989 that they returned when N M Rothschild & Sons, the British investment arm, plus Bank Rothschild AG, the Swiss branch, set up a representative banking office in Frankfurt.

Does the name "Rothschild" ring any bells...Philomena

According to a ChristianEvangelical Presbyterian daughter of two ministers of the faith said, when I sent her the video game Mark Warren is promoting as Chrisitan,( she was appalled. Horrified.) "he's not a very good minister, either"....LOL.

Rick Warren, I caught a brief glimpse of him and his wife on I think Larry King and they gave me the ebeejeebee's. I was channel hopping and hopped right on by can't stand to listen to them, it was just too too much. Psych ops, they've had centuries of practice.

Clymeia, I respectifully disagree with your outrage that Israeli Jews would take over America....I think they already have this gov't and Congress under their thumbs, that is the AIPAC lobbyist group. I would refer you to the long article (help, I don't know the link) published by two American professors (who have been nearly assassinated by the Israeli lobbyists) in which it is explained what has transpired. Many may be going on old idealism about 50 years ago, the entire establishment of Israel as a country. I certainly loved the books about it!

I just think it has become something else....as organizations do have a tendency to survive at all costs. HELP...I don't have the link....WV?

I am a big fan of Noam -- he has been the voice in the wilderness since the late 60's.. a true political science visionary... and a Jew of Conscience in my humble understanding of the meaning of conscience. Conscience is connected to humanity -- like a shaman -- one with consciousness -- acts from the deepest level of their understanding of what is necessary to "heal" -- and there is a very sacred phrase in Judaism -- which I hold dear to my heart, soul and humanity -- Tikkun Olam http://universitysynagogue.org/Default.aspx?tabid=136 -- but please remember - Hebrew is a Semitic tongue and Arabic is the closest tongue to Hebrew today -- as in the word " Allah" or Qaballah' .. and is indigenous to other Semitic tribes -- were not necessarily "Hebrew" .. for that matter -- my favorite goddess is Asheroth ... who brings the origin of the caduceus w/ a pole with snakes entwined to the forefront..
Let me quote just a bit more from Tikva Frymer-Kensky's "In the Wake
of the Goddesses" (Free Press, 1992), p. 158---I should probably have
included this bit in my posting of the other day:
All these scholarly disputes indicate how difficult it is to
be sure about any point in ancient religion. [amen!] What
we do know is that the Asherah was real, she existed [i.e.
as a genuinely worshipped divinity---Tikva is scarcely making
a claim for her ontological reality!], and she was tolerated
officially until the eighth century. She is not portrayed
as doing anything: she simply is. The biblical texts do
not speak of Ashera as a consort. The connection of Asherah
to trees and groves and her location at altars hints that
she represented, in some way, the natural world and its
powers of regeneration. The height and majesty of a tree may
also be a metaphor for earth-as-it-reaches-towards-heaven.
Early Israelite religion could understand Asherah as part of
God's divine system. Later, as biblical thinking began to
concentrate on human responsibility for natural regeneration,
asherah no longer fit. The official cult attacked and
destroyed asherah and the altars. Nevertheless, the people
persisted in worshiping in this old style, drawing assurance
of the divine input in nature even as they were being told
to be mindful of the human.

PS -- I am NOT a member of ADL... which I consider to be an organized fascist revision of Judaism humanitarism ...which I define as "one who is ONE with life" -- one does not need to be connected or affiliated with a group who "despises", rants or tags others .. just because they do not fall in line with the militant political ideologies of the ADL.

Posted by: Philomena on June 2, 2006 04:52 AM

Point is -- we should not be going off on a rant about Jews or Arabs.. as this is the distraction of the day fomented by the Christian militants.

As a human being first -- I suggest we look at our human dilemma from a point of compassion -- insofar as we are all fragile and subject to the vagrancy's of abuse of power, be it religious, political or media oriented .... twisted realities that hurt all -- including the master twister -- trickster -- Mercury.

When I contemplate the outer planets -- Uranus -- Neptune -- Pluto in the classical sense -- I realize that their potency is only available when connected to the inner - personal planets, i.e., Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars -- or Ascendant.

So -- we really have to step back and take a very deep breath -- to understand we are the puppets and the puppeteers of our own fates.

We allow our ordinary mundane consciousness to be steered -- directed -- to consciously or unconsciously collude w/ the fate of the planet..for good or ill -- or naught.

This must be the reason that ancient Mr. Sages and Ms. Sages sought the heights of solitude and retreat into caves, huts, etc ... detachment seems to be the only way to individually process (wanted to use the word -- accept) the given silent madness of the times.

As a shamanic astrologer - I learned that an impasse is the greatest challenge that calls forth ingenuity in the face of all conscious knowledge of skillful adaptation to "impossible" web tangles.... and when one looks at ones own reality -- if we are honest with our self -- we have to admit -- we are tangled in a web of illusion -- confusion -- requiring an inner effort of "detachment" that is difficult to put into words.

These are days that one cannot superfluously leave to the imagination -- these are days of deep thought -- and being --- where words are meaningless --- once one has a glimpse of the seamless deception commingled w/ the simple truth of ones existence -- which is that we are "a meaningless spec in the face of a timeless universe".

These are the ugliest most hateful and vicious
words I've ever seen here. Do you people read what you have written? Ugly thoughts betray the ugliness and disease of hate in the person.

As someone posted above, there is no use in attempting to reason with people who think like this, nor do I want to have anything to do with people who can think and write these things.

Pallas -- methinks that you do protest too much -- and know nothing of the real pain in the world -- today -yesterday - tomorrow -- it appears that it is your words that are intermingled with deceptive innuendoes -- depart in peace -- and peace be with you! Can you fight with words of peace? Or are you attempting to incite violence in the guide of intellectual sophistry?

I suggest dear Pallas that you contemplate coming from your hidden heart instead of your confused/brainwashed head...

Pallas did not make Astro World toxic, as it is becoming now.

I wonder how much of this kind of behavior would be if all posters were not safely anonymous. Is it the planets that are to blame for behind the scenes manipulation? No. It's a choice.

Hopefully some positive lesson will emerge for everyone involved.

Posted by: Pat C on June 2, 2006 06:11 AM

Pat C: "Pallas did not make Astro World toxic, as it is becoming now."

PatC: Define your meaning of 'toxic astroworld'? Please?
You drop empty phrases like Bush and Co. dropped bombs on Iraq w/out justification -- where are the WORDS OF MASS TOXIC DECEPTION here on AW?

You still FAILED to define the true meaning of "antisemitism"? Beginning with the meaning of SEMITE....

How toxic is a keyboard? Or better yet -- how paranoid are you?

Are you and Pallas an ADL tag team -- looking for trouble where none exists?

Posted by: Philomena on June 2, 2006 06:25 AM

Pat C...I've never heard you express so much of yourself and it's stunning. Something is happening.

It's not funny and it's way beyond the personal and the absurdity of trying to control this and the links, post lengths, etc.

Mercury just passed the opposition to Pluto in th G.Center and this lunation is the only one occurring there. It is monumental.

I believe we are being beamed by the universe right now and a huge load of information, truth and knowledge are pouring down on us. It is heavy and overwhelming but we need it. We are absolutely sick and saturated with the scandal, gossip, crime, fear, war, misery and every little act of people repeated over and over and over with absolutely nothing we can do to correct it now. We're driving ourselves into insanity.

Astroworld is no more toxic than it ever was. All entities have toxins, good spirits, everything and they emerge at different times. It we want to erradicate the negativity here then maybe we can if we really have the true desire. It's not that hard.

This is a fantastic learning moment. Truth is here but the truth is entirely subjective. The best thing to do is be grateful we are receiving this and look to our own selves for that truth. Our own Sagittarius houses, our own Jupiters, and our own Plutos. Moments of truth are like this. They cut through everything and make so many things seem meaningless. It's a moment to grasp and savor.

Astroworld will be fine.

Posted by: jm on June 2, 2006 06:38 AM

THIS is Pluto in Sagittarius. these are ideas coming from the collective in all shades, stripes, forms, etc., equal to the diversity of all the people. We are not destroying one another's bodies or stealing possessions. The force of our beliefs can be extreme but we are all entitled to them and to their expression. Ans so we are entitled to our responses.

In a goddamned world where people are murdering over beliefs we can have the equanimity to accept the expression of all of them.

Posted by: jm on June 2, 2006 06:45 AM

And the whole argument over mythology/personal versus politics was absolutely ridiculous when so much energy is here. I hope everyone sees that now. You can't control these things. You do that later when the torrent of life has abated. This is pure unrestrained sagittarius. Welcome!

Posted by: jm on June 2, 2006 07:04 AM

"Pick a little, talk a little, pick, pick, pick, talk a lot, pick a little more." This has to stop, I am not going to explain why because I'm not sure anyone would understand why, but it has to stop. I can and will delete posts and block IPN addresses. You are free to take this argument to another site, but the name calling, slamming and ridiculing other's opinions will not be tolerated.

The reason this site gets toxic from time to time is I don't block it like other sites do, but I will. You seem to go from an "all is sweetness and light" higher consciousness spirituality to a "down and dirty" mud slinging. I think we all have a lot to learn before we point a finger at other people.

Posted by: Sally on June 2, 2006 07:07 AM

By the way, no one knows enough about anyone on this site to judge whether they have experienced pain and suffering in their life and it's inexcusable to do so, Pallas deserves an apology.

And not only is it not absurb to control the content of this site, it is possible to do so. Many in fact most sites do it.

Posted by: Sally on June 2, 2006 07:11 AM

I don't experience AW as toxic at all... just some folks doing their "workings out." Pluto demands that all beings cease kicking their "stuff" to "down" in the cellar or "up" in the attic & integrate... take back what one projects onto others. That's my prob with "light n' bright"... um, paths & religions... so much split... no end to the problems, difficulties & sufferings going that route.

Anyway, Morgana... you, dear Lady, posted "Most the Capricorn's I've had the pleasure of knowing so remind me of volcanos." Would you elaborate a bit? I've drawn a fair number of Caps into "my life"... mostly moons & venuses... something about which I don't appreciate nearly enuf (harumph) ;O)

Posted by: JoannaOregon on June 2, 2006 07:33 AM

Sally, I was referring to this moment. The lunation and the energy. Control needs to be maintained, I know.

Posted by: jm on June 2, 2006 07:34 AM

Sally -- Pallas is the one throwing stones and making false accusations of antisemitism -- I will not apologize to a bully. She condemned your blog as "toxic" because some on this thread choose to speak their truth -- openly. Pallas should apologize to us. She is the troublemaker -I personally do not wish to be part of this petty BS -- word game. And IMHO, Pallas is the word bully -- smearing posters who expressed their opinions in re Zionism. But if this is a Zionist controlled blog -- perhaps we who wish to express our 1st amendment right to free speech should take immediate notice of this subtle infringment.

Neo, Mars is at 28 Cancer and what you just said sounds exactly like a mother talking to her unruly brood. Wait till next week when Mars gets into Leo and see what comes up.

I don't know if you had siblings, but from what I've seen and experienced, people just quarrel when thrown together. We become civilized and socialized stuffing our impulses but they remain and when Cancer gets to 29, they can easily emerge for a minute.
I think it's just about played itself out.

I'll support that NEO. I am always at a loss when adults start taking pot shots at other adults or at anyone for that matter. However, this is a microism of what's happening in the macroism of the world. You can always see the collective energy rise. Part of it is Mars in Cancer right now. It's at its last degrees and Mars in Cancer is a vigorous, if not always appropriate, defense of ones home or tribes or belief system, plus Mars is never really happy in Cancer and is probably anxious to get out of there. There is a tension build up, I see it in my work and on the broader world's stage. Another place Mars isn't happy is next to Saturn lots of frustration with that pairing so irritation and frustration (or illness) is going to keep marching on. through the Summer. The Jupiter/Saturn square and both in Square to the 2000 Grand Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in Taurus will bring some pretty interesting things.

Here's is where Pallas started her attack on wv's posted article -- and threw the first stone! She or he opened the door -- by accusing WV of hating Israel because WV posted an article.. and made absolutely NO COMMENT.
snip:
"okay WV, we get it.
you hate Israel and are very pro Palestine.

A hot paper muzzles Harvard
Controversial "Jewish lobby" paper raises nary a peep on the cowed campus.
By Eve Fairbanks, Eve Fairbanks works at the New Republic as a reporter-researcher.
May 14, 2006

DID YOU THINK there was a controversy in academia over "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy," the paper by Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer contending that a shadowy "Israel Lobby" — including everyone from the New York Times and Hillary Clinton to Pat Robertson and Paul Wolfowitz — has seized control of American foreign affairs? I did too, but let me tell you: We were wrong.

When professors Walt and Mearsheimer (of Harvard and the University of Chicago, respectively) went public with their paper in the London Review of Books on March 23, it seemed the whole world started screaming. From columnists Richard Cohen and Max Boot to historian Tony Judt and Democratic Rep. Eliot Engel of New York, public figures battled in the pages of the major papers. Accusations of anti-Semitism and divided loyalties flew. The magazine I work for published three articles on the paper in a single week.

I also had a strange crossing of paths with DiFi, like you call her. I was having lunch in Venice, Italy last summer near St. Mark's Square, and lo and behold, DiFi walks by wearing a lilac suit, surrounded by her entourage (her male senate aides?). She had a big smile on her face, and I was too stunned to even react. I wonder if Abramoff paid for that trip. Hey, even millionaires like her like freebies.

Hi Morgana
Re chart for Kiwiland. There isn't in my opinion, a defining moment for NZ per se. Unlike the USA. There are several times/years e.g the previously mentioned Dominion Chart says something about NZ growing up but in the context of my previous post the most interesting one, going forward is the date of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi - The same kinda thing as Manhattan being sold by the Red Indians for a few baubles bangles and beads. Alas for New Zealand it's still a very contentious issue - hence my comments about the foreshore issue. Like who owns the foreshore the Crown? all New Zealanders? or the indigenous Maori?
Anyone seriously thinking of relocating to NZ should be aware that NZ is nicknamed "The Land of the Long White Cloud" A friend has paraphrased it "The Land of the Long White Shroud" Yea it is kinda quiet down here with only 4.1million and we suffer from "brain draining" - lotsa guys like Michael Baigent go overseas.

[Heads up! Catch Robert Kennedy Jr., Mike Papantonio and Greg Palast this Saturday on Air America's 'Ring of Fire' on the shoplifting of the last election … and the next one.]

This is a fact: On November 2, 2004, in the State of Ohio, 239,127 votes for President of the United States were dumped, rejected, blocked, lost and left to rot uncounted.

And not just anyone's vote. Dive into the electoral dumpster and these "spoiled" votes have a very dark color indeed.

In another life, I taught statistics. And these statistics stank: the raw data tells us that if you are a Black voter, the chance of you losing your vote to technical errors in voting machinery is 900% higher than if you were a white voter.

Any guesses as to whom those African-Americans chose for president on those junked ballots? Check Ohio's racial demographics, do the numbers, and there it is: Kerry won Ohio. And that, too, is a fact. A fact that could not get reported in the USA.

But the shoplifting of those votes in Ohio was just the tip of the theft-berg. November 2, 2004 was a national ballot-box bonfire. In total, over three million votes (3,600,380 to be exact) were cast -- marked, punched, pulled -- YET NEVER COUNTED. I'm not talking about the Ukraine or Uganda. I'm talking about the United States of America "with liberty and justice for all."

Well, not "all." The nine-to-one Black-to-White ballot spoilage rate is a national statistic -- not just an Ohio trick. Last year, I flew to New Mexico to investigate the 33,981 cast but not counted ballots of that state in the 2004 race. George Bush "won" New Mexico by 5,988 votes. Or did he? I calculated that, of the all the ballots rejected and "spoiled," 89% were cast by voters of color. Who won New Mexico? Kerry won -- or he would have, if they had counted the ballots.

But they didn't count them. And that was deliberate. It's in the plan. It's the program. And the program for 2008 is simple. Two million ballots were cast but not counted in the 2000 race. (Over half, 54%, were cast by African-American.) In 2004, the GOP kicked it up to THREE million. Get ready, these guys aim high: "four in '06" and "five in '08" looks to be their game plan.

How will they pile up five million un-voters in 2008? Let's start with the three million "disappeared" of 2004:

Step 1: "Spoiling" ballots -- 1,389,231 of them. In the vote-count game, these are called "undervotes" and "overvotes." You can recognize these lost ballots by their hanging chads, punch cards without punches (an Ohio specialty), paper ballots eaten by scanners, and touch screens that didn't know you touched them.

Step 2: Rejecting "provisional ballots"-- 1,090,729 in this pile. Voters finding themselves at the "wrong" precinct, or wrongly "scrubbed" from voter rolls get these back-of-the-bus ballots first inaugurated in 2002. In '04, provisional ballots were passed out like candy to voters in the poorest precincts. They handed them out -- then threw them away -- one million dumped in all. In Ohio, Republican Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell changed state rules, allowing him to toss out the ballots of legal voters who cast ballots in the wrong precinct although these citizens were told their vote would count after confirming their registration.

Step 3: Not counting absentee ballots -- 526,420 of them. At least, that's what we figure from official stats. But it's anyone's guess how many mailed-in votes were dumped. (However, in one case, in Palm Beach, Florida, Jeb Bush's candidate for Elections Supervisor, Theresa LaPore, counted more absentee votes than absentee ballots mailed in. Not the brightest bulb in the vote-fix biz, that Theresa.)

Step 4: Scrub'm, Purge'm, Block'm. These are the voters who never got to vote at all. This group includes those who found their registrations were never entered on the voter rolls. In Ohio, about one-fourth of those registered by Jesse Jackson's 2004 voter drive, found their registrations delayed beyond the election date or lost.

Add to this un-voter group, those who were wrongly "scrubbed" from registries as "felons." For example, there was Bernice Kines, purged in Florida in 2004 because she was convicted of a felony on July 31, 2009. I repeat: 2009. There was something especially odd about the Ohio felon purge: ex-cons are ALLOWED to vote in that state, Mr. Blackwell.

How many lost their chance to vote by scrubbing, purging and blocking? That's anyone's guess, but one million would not be an unfair estimate -- and that's not included in the 3.6 million tally of ballots uncounted.

Was it deliberate? Oh my God, yes. I'd like you to take a look at the "caging" lists the Republican National Committee concocted to challenge voters with "suspect" addresses. It included page after page of African-American soldiers, like one Randall Prausa, shipped overseas. Mission accomplished, Mr. President?

And there's some new tricks for these old dogs. For the 2006 and 2008, the GOP is pushing new Voter ID requirements. Your signature won't be good enough anymore.

What's wrong with the new ID laws? This: in the 2004 election, 300,000 voters were turned away from the polls for "wrong" ID. For example, in the "Little Texas" counties in New Mexico, if your voter registration included a middle initial but your driver's license had none, you were kicked out of the polling station. Funny, but they only seemed to ask Hispanic voters. We should see the number of voters rejected for ID to quintuple by 2008 based on the new "voting reform" laws recently passed in several states.

Also, coming to a polling station near you: more caging lists, scrub lists, ID challenge lists and more. Exactly why do you think they are compiling those "War on Terror" and War on Immigration databases? Behind the 2000 felon purge lists and behind the 2004 caging lists were databases from the same companies that now have those homeland security contracts. Are they saving us from Osama -- or from Democrats?

I wish I could give you a book on a page, because information is our weapon: Turn on the lights and the cockroaches scatter. That's why I'm asking you to read RFK's article on the Theft of Ohio -- and GET ANGRY. Then read, "Armed Madhouse: … The Scheme to Steal '08' -- AND GET READY.

jm, I'm not at all sure what I said that you could find stunning.

The middle east has a long and difficult history. President after President has tried to help them negotiate, and failed. There have been heroes and villains on both sides over time. I am not an expert, and I doubt there is anyone here who can claim to be. It would take a true scholar...without an opinion, but observation. It's that complicated.

Pallas is a wonderful astrologer. I haven't seen Pallas attack anyone personally, and therefore deserves respect and the ability to post unhindered. Disagreement does not have to be vicious.

IMO those who target other posters personally are a real roadblock to the information we can all use to be better in this difficult time, and this is a very difficult time.

When I say manaste, I mean it. Namaste.

Almost everything you said yesterday was stunning. From the core, sincere, and strong. All the more so because you seldom do this and it was a rare glimpse into a part of you I admire.

You just did it again.

Bad News
J-school graduates, commence worrying

I want to congratulate you all upon your graduation from the University of Maryland College of Journalism, and wish you luck as you prepare to embark on exciting careers in telemarketing or large-appliance repair.

My point is, this is a challenging time for journalists.

And because you are word people, you understand that "challenging time" is a euphemism often used to describe disasters of epic proportions. For example, Richard Pryor was facing a "challenging time" when he ran down the street half-naked and on fire.

What are your challenges, specifically? Let us begin with, quote unquote, getting a job. Good jobs in journalism have become scarce as newspapers shrink and die, broadcast media fragment to smaller niche audiences and the public appears more and more willing to receive its "news" online from nincompoops ranting in their underpants.

But, it's not like there is no hope. There are still high-prestige, well-paying positions in journalism. Unfortunately, they are filled by tired old coots who aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Me, for example. It'll take a hydraulic winch to pry me loose from this gig.

Two decades ago, I worked with your dean, Tom Kunkel, at the Miami Herald. Back then, the Herald was a newspaper the thickness of the Singapore telephone directory. Today, when carriers fling the Herald onto suburban driveways, it settles to the pavement gently, like a sycamore leaf in the breeze. When Tom and I worked there, the Herald was the flagship of the Knight Ridder newspaper chain, which no longer exists, having recently been purchased by the McClatchy chain, which sold some of the papers to the MediaNews chain, which sold some of the papers to the Kmart chain, which is using them as packing material for Scooby-Doo sippy cups. My point is, and I mean this sincerely, this is a challenging time for newspapers.

Does anyone have Laura Bush's chart handy? I looked at it a few years ago -- and recall that she is A Scorpio Sun Sign -- perhaps the Fixed Grand Square that occurred last January triggered an internal *rude awakening* in her natal chart about the reality of her sham marriage to "W".

In my mind's eye -- I can see Condi playing the role of the dark sensual dominatrix to compensate Bush's sadomasochistic dark side.

What's interesting is that both of the Stepford wives are Scorpios -- and Bush is a wishy washy male Cancer who needs to either be mothered by his women or controlled and disciplined -- i.e. natal Saturn in Cancer in the 12th house.

Whispers have flown for several years inside the beltway regarding this strange political *menange a trois*. Who knows --if this does become a front page scandal -- maybe Condi will be doing us all a favor and we can begin impeachment proceedings against Bush -- alleging that Bush is hiding his own weapon of mass destruction inside his Sexatary of State's black leather coat.

OMG -Philo, from your words to my brain -- And as I recall Condi loves expensive super high heels . . . OMG Even the MSM couldn't resist those headlines!! :)

Posted by: Neith on June 2, 2006 06:24 PM

I'm so excited! I must chime in!
Neith, how are you!!!??!!

Expensive high heels is right! remember when Katrina hit? Yup. She was shopping for heels.
I have an image of her in a combat helmet picking her way through the dead in Iraq in her stiletto heels, and I will ever be outraged. I am waiting for the day to be relieved of this sexatary. She tries my Uranian nerves.

Philo, get a load of Laura's chart. I also have a thing about her. These two shadow Scorpios. I am fascinated by the veneer of Laura that masks that Saturn/Pluto conjunction in Leo on the 4th and has everbody believing she is meek. I find her quite dangerous. The Saturn return is up to something here.
Remember, she was supposed to have made her psycho husband quit drinking. So isn't she indirectly responsible for his ascension? He coulda been drunk right now. She kept him drugged when she wanted that then took his candy away when he was directed into the playpen of power. So I understand.
Her dazzling smile is all the more hideous to me under the circumstances.

Sex, the big taboo. If ya think immigration divides watch prejudice rear it's head over this rumor. (Please make it true). This might stick. My favorite senario: Rice and Pickles together, dump his ugly @#$.

I read something from Robert Hand today, as this is my transit which is over now....and it applies to many here in this age group in which Pluto and Saturn are in opposition, currently (in my case, Saturn just conjuncting Pluto at 5 Leo)

One danger of this transit is that Pluto can signify tremendous evolutionary energies, which Saturn restricts. This can lead to an apparent suppression of the Pluto force. When the suppressed force erupts, it may be dangerous, explosive, and quite violent. As you are more and more restricted by circumstances and the need to use your resources conservatively, do not simply hold in your energies. Build new structures to correct the problems you face now and concentrate all your energy on bringing about necessary evolution in your life. Saturn can give form to Pluto as well as repress it, and then it is much more fruitful.
-------
Mars in Leo will be better? Are you KIDDING? Now it too will be hitting transiting Saturn, not to mention Pluto....so I don't expect all the sniping to stop, no, no, it isn't going to...if anything, it is going to go ballistic.

Time to use them correctly though....by recognizing them.

Philo, thanks for all your info, and I do agree with all your assessments.....

Pat C....I think perhaps just article posting without comment limits your effectiveness. Perhaps a fruitful use of Saturn (whether aspecting you the same way or not) would be to comment more...and release the pain. IMHO. You hold beliefs which diametrically oppose mine, but I am not calling you names....you just hold different views and that is fine with me, I know you are a good person.

WV is not an anti-semite...and his articles opened my eyes to the abuses which the neocon/israeli/zionist lobbyist movement (it took me a while to figure out the ADL was the antidefamation league) I am greatful, as it completely resolved the horribleness of having a friend who is jewish lay the anti semite line on me, and not be able to understand what the truth was.

jm...you've taken a lot of abuse on this board too...it shows character that you've stayed in for the duration.

I have been indulging my gemini state and making like Prince (whose birthday is also mine) and posting as Anon....I will not apologize for the ruse. I may post just like Prince...perhaps like this:

What difference does it make anyway?

I'm not attempting to make this a partisan deal -- only 73 percent of Enron's political donations went to Republicans. But I'll be damned if Enron's No. 1 show pony politician, George W. Bush, should be allowed to walk away from this. Ken Lay gave $139,500 to Bush over the years. He chipped in $100,000 to the Bush Cheney Inaugural Fund in 2000 and $10K to the Bush-Cheney Recount Fund.

Plus, Enron's PAC gave Bush $113,800 for his '94 and '98 political races and another $312,500 from its executives. Bush got 14 free rides on Enron's corporate jets during the 2000 campaign, including at least two during the recount. Until January 2004, Enron was Bush's top contributor.

Thanks Judi -- Robert Hand's Saturn/Pluto assessment is MOST EXCELLENT!! I plan to meditate on his WORDS very deeply as t.Saturn will conjunct my nPluto -- in the hope of slamming the pedal into evolutionary overdrive --

More on Rice and Pickles later tonight -- I am at my day job and can't give the charts a thorough analysis -- but hint - hint -- the Full Moon in Sag will conjunct Pluto -- and will fall right on Bush's Uranus North Node / and the FM will conjunct his South Node in the 5th house -- of you know what!!! Illicit love affair -- being exposed.

I agree with you on Laura's dangerous hidden shadow getting activated over the Condi dominatrix trysting w/ her precious man-child/ husband -- Pluto rules her 7th house which is loaded with planets....and Uranus will soon conjunct her Pisces Moon! I don't see the victim wife here at all -- no wonder Condi was offered a job w/ the NFL!! She is probably being eased out of position by Mommy and Poppy Bush before the volcano erupts...

the Bill Herbst newsletter just came....I am so thrilled that he even mentiones the 1990 Capricorn triple whammy, as I was so obscessed with that period trying to explain to people what was going to happen:

He wrote: In the April and May newsletters, I wrote about the dreams, illusions,
and revolutionary ideals of the last two Uranus-Neptune cycles, the
second of which began in 1988-1999. That period saw the sudden
collapse of totalitarian governments, followed by a surge forward in
technological innovation and religious orientation that changed the
shape of society.
As the Uranus-Neptune cycle waltzed off center stage in the last year
of the old millennium, fading again for awhile into the background of
the archetype field, another pair of planets emerged to claim the
limelight. The 21st century was ushered in by a crisis in the Saturn-
Pluto cycle, and the shift in both tone and events could hardly have
been more dramatic. Wild expansion (Uranus-Neptune) suddenly
gave way to violent contraction (Saturn-Pluto).
This goes on forever, I hope the newsletter is posted here:

I don't know if anyone will very much care, as I've posted only sporadically over the last two years, but I think I'm just about ready to permanently move on from this site.

I remember when I first discovered Astroworld, I was really thrilled to hear the well written, insightful commentary on politics and social issues from enlightened, hip, politically aware and highly intuitive people who were far more "into" astrology then me (I have only the most rudimentary understanding/awareness of the most basic concepts, though I do believe in the truth of it all).

I'd like to think, however, that I've added something useful to the discussion during my tenure here, being an unrepentent "political junkie" since I first got interested in the Goldwater/Johnson contest back in '64 (does that date me, or what?!).

Lately though (sorry to offend anyone) this site has essentially (from my particular perspective of course) morphed/deteriorated into a platform for mostly highly neurotic unhappy "needy" individuals so obsessed with their own issues/ selves, that they no longer even pretend to try to focus on providing any of the unique political/astro insights that originally gave the site so much intellectual energy and real freshness/excitement.

Sorry folks, but all this recent non-stop bitching + catfighting has gotten really old very fast, and as a Jewish guy, I'm particually not thrilled with those on this board bending over backwards to seemingly deny the quite obvious connection between the neo-con hijacking of our country, and the pernicious radical Zionism so prevalent in the Bush administration and so many of the highly dysfunctional "think tanks" around D.C. To those who cry "anti-semitism" as a knee jerk reaction to these kind of comments, I simply answer (sorry, Sally) "BULLSHIT!"

Well, I've said my piece, and if any of the "old timers" would like to communicate off site with one expat Grizzly who still misses the (now mostly gone but not forgotten!) good 'ole U.S. of A, please feel more than free to write! See you all later, then.

Laura's chart: http://www.astrodatabank.com/NM/Feedback.asp?ChartID=39814

Her north node is at 12 Gemini (1st house)...! Today is 11 Gemini! tomorrow it should be official...

Uranus is 21 Gemini...give it 10 more days....and this will be all over the place.

Saturn is 8 Leo, so she is getting the hit from T. Saturn. It conjuncts natal Pluto although widely at 13 Leo...and Jupiter is retro on her Sun at 11 Scorpio....! so it is all coming back on her now, to deal with. Don't know her progressed stuff....this is just what I saw on first glance. No comments yet there.

Stuff happens, no one can really control it, nor would, I hope, anyone want to....this is Saturn/Pluto at its best. (and worst)

------------------

Listen to the Wind

I'm living in the blue states
I'm living in the red
Somebody took the common man
And filled his common head
And poisoned all our brothers
And all our sisters too
Only one kind of person is happy
When I start to hate on you

I'm working in the factory
Working on the big combine
I can't afford a doctor
And the baby won't stop crying
Our sons and daughters fight a war
Our sons and daughters die
They want us blue and red ones
To never hear each other's cries

(chorus)
Listen to me brothers
Listen sisters too
Listen to the melody
That plays inside of you
Listen to the silence
And listen to your heart
Who gets to making money
Whenever fighting starts?
Listen to the wind
It carries all our songs
Listen to the wind
Everybody join along

I'm searching for the Jesus
Who aimed to help the sick
Who gave solace to the poor of us
Who knew love was not a trick
I'm searching for the Jesus
The man, the Prince of Peace
Teach me not to cast stones
Teach me to slay that beast

I'm searching for some honor
I'm searching for a life
Where I can feel compassion
Put an end to needless strife
I'm hoping that I'll find it
Right here inside of me
Forget about red and blue states
My country 'tis of thee
Sing it like you mean it
Turn a them into a we

(chorus)

Don't you see that it is vital to have these discussions? This is about freedom of speech (albeit with perhaps a tad more manners), but geez....censorship is censorship is censorship.

That being said, I am also glad you are making the point that WV is not being anti Jewish. We really need to separate those issues entirely.

ANd Jo, watch out, if you do come back, the next thread IS on Laura Bush

Posted by: jiud on June 2, 2006 09:44 PM

I agree with Grizzly.

I don't come here for therapy. This is the world wide web, and for that reason I will never be particularly personal in what may appear to be, but is not, our little corner of the web. We might be very surprised if we knew who and how many people are reading, and what's worse, probably being saved if it's considered important...or whatever. Strange days indeed when simple human conversation is government business.

Judi, I have never had the impression in any of our conversations that we disagreed, but maybe I'm wrong. Posting in snippets on what are truly complicated subjects, it may seem that we know a person, but it's not so. We don't.

I post articles that I think are interesting. I don't always agree with everything in the articles, but they are interesting and hopefully helpful. I have hoped that my research helped to make up for the lack of journalism in the mainstream media. I know I'm feeling starved for truth and informed opinion in journalism, and I think it helps validate astrology. That's just my opinion of course.

I know there are some who complain that all I do is post articles, and I pretty much know who they are, but I don't consider that to be my problem. I've never been particularly fond of group think or pecking orders, and that is probably inevitable when there are more than two people in a room. I've traveled enough in my life to know that the dynamic is consistent and hasn't changed since middle school. The roll playing thing is just not my bag.

I use to think this was an awesome site, and I am grateful to Sally for providing such a wonderful place for political astrology. My habit it to trust and love people at face value. I have realized that's just naive. We don't really know eachother. We really don't. But it can be fun to share our knowledge and frustration and our passion about the times we are sharing as a human family evolving during this extraordinary time.

May you all live long and proper, and have a hppy heart.

Posted by: Pat C on June 2, 2006 09:47 PM

Pat C., maybe I should have explained what I meant...when you post an article, you could say "I found this interesting...or I don't agree with all of this" or "this reallys struck me as important in...etc...". I just think connections are often important.

From my standpoint, (and hey, I completely disagree with you only on immigration), that makes the article more important. It isn't just a 'service'.

That is all I meant.

That and the H1B visa people who are planned to come in larger and larger numbers to take the place of highly paid Americans, are to me the plan to globalize the US and bring us down from all that has been accomplished, and it is being done as much as possible behind our backs. It's not being covered by the press that much either, and it is such a huge attempt, that is criminal.

Race is not the issue for me but it is the primary issue for some others. It is money and manipulation for great power.

jm, I enjoy your posts. I hope you *are* encouraged.

Posted by: Pat C on June 2, 2006 10:53 PM

well judig i disagree. Pat C, and anyone else who posts articles here, is doing a great service for those of us who dont have the time to do the research and/or the skills to peruse the net. I really dont need to know if she thinks its interesting or not or whether she agrees with it. I'll read it and decide for myself. article posting is one of the very best functions of this board. lets not make rules and regs that would chill participation.
