Big Mama on the Big Easy
Hurricane Katrina fizzled as tropical depression #10 dissipating into a few meandering clouds, written off as dead and done. The clouds continued to drift and feed on the warm waters of the Bahamas finally making its way to the southeastern Florida coastline where it feasted on the warm currents spinning it up into a Cat 1 storm. Losing little strength Katrina re-entered the Gulf of Mexico and now has spun up to be one Big Mama growing by the hour and taking aim on the Big Easy. Katrina’s chart is cast for her first landfall on August 25, 2005 at 6:30 PM EDT just south of Fort Lauderdale <chart link>, Florida. Mars is the big player in this chart as the focal point of a T-Square. Mars is bringing it home, driving the erratic storms path it’s squaring Neptune 15 Aquarius, squares Mercury 14 Leo, with Mercury then opposing Neptune in the 1st House. Mars then ignites the South Node (SN) and Jupiter in Libra in the 8th House death, destruction and rebirth. Even though Venus is not involved directly in the Mars ménage trios, she’s within four degrees of kissing that karmic SN. Pretty hot Air there! Enough? Not even. Those Air Monsters strongly trine Katrina’s Ascendant (her face the image she show’s the world) and Neptune. Cat 4 ?

AW lives. As Morgana says, "We have returned from the ashes....." Posted by: Pat C on August 27, 2005 08:16 PMAW lives! Morgana rocks! Many thanks for a really neat and insightful article! Posted by: shylurker on August 27, 2005 08:20 PMThank you so much Morgana. What a relief to see the site back up and an article by you posted at the same time. I don't know what caused the damage but I am grateful the harm has been healed and is now part of the past. This is the best astrology on the web, (I know, I read them all) and a resource we simply cannot afford to be without during these crucial days. It makes me mindful of how we all have to do our part, so with that in mind, my donation is on the way. Posted by: M. on August 27, 2005 08:23 PMHave you considered talking to the host of www.bartcop.com? He also hosts American Politics Journal as well, and boasts that he can handle any site that's having problems due to being anti-Bush or pro-Democrat. He is also a webmaster for the EFF as well, and used to run a full-time computer store and web provider as well. Posted by: Carol on August 27, 2005 08:37 PMMorgana, you and your writing are wonderful gems. As is our wonderful AW. Thanks, Sally, for getting the site up again; it's a valued part of our lives. Posted by: Janet on August 27, 2005 08:38 PMThanks Morgana for this welcome relief and terrific article. As for the site, I appreciate all your suggestions but I feel I have the best researchers on the web working on this. There are two separate companies one takes care of the front page and the other takes care of the publishing, and it's the publishing one that has been the problem. I will see how this works but the next wall will be the necessity to "sign up" in order to post. Several sites have had to go to this and I will very likely follow suit fairly soon. Thanks for your patience and understanding and thanks for all the posters who sent suggestions, but I want to assure you that I've talked to all the major bloggers and know what happened and how it happened and what is a better way to handle it all. Posted by: Sally on August 27, 2005 08:44 PMSally you're most welcome and I do so enjoy writing my little ditties for AW. I think Katrina is gona make the Shurb miserable. And a miserable hot, angry People will roil. Have you noticed that States taking up the cause of Global Warming and enacting State Laws bringing themselves into accord with Kyoto, since the Feds are encapable of leading. Posted by: Morgana on August 27, 2005 09:04 PMwhen is Pat fitzgerald going to finish his report This is off topic. But I read this white supremist web site and they are going to JOIN WITH CINDY. They are anti war also. They where calling on their members to go.
I did want to say a few words about the storm. I have been in pretty close touch with it living in Florida, but we have had very little.
Morgana, good to have you here again. Question: Is the hurricane's landfall when the eye touches or when the weather station says the edge hits? Beasley, a 12:05PM natal chart for Pat R causes his Part of Fortune to be conjunct natal Swindle (asteroid 8690). At 20degress Aries it would place them in his busy 10th house along with his Sun, Uranus, Venus, and Pallas. Wish we knew his birth time. Posted by: Jill G on August 27, 2005 10:38 PMMorgana, I did see where some states were enacting laws in line with Kyoto. I also see Pluto has nearly reached it's stationary direct period going direct on the 2nd of Sept. Pluto for such a little planet packs a big energy wollop and never more so than when it's stationary direct, this time it's stationary opposite US Mars. Katrina puts me in mind of "The Taming of the Shrew." Posted by: Sally on August 27, 2005 10:49 PMI used the time posted by news reports and NOAA. In her case not much is going to make a difference. Maybe some good ole weather magic. Posted by: Morgana on August 27, 2005 11:27 PMJust a little bit about hurricanes for you land locked people.
Jean I can really emphasize. After being approved by FEMA and SBA in for El Nino 98 landslides I lost both my houses to shanigans, and of course the government never paid out. Infact Bush recalled all unspent or doled out funds to piss away in the sands of Iraq along with the blood of our children. I've started over from square one. Living in the mountains we are often isolated for days without electricity (30,000 plus folks here), but I found the best in my neighbors and the citizens of the little town I live in. We have to fend for ourselves. I'm also about five miles from Loma Prieta site of the 1989 SF quake, so am well familiar with disasters of another sort. All the same the people end up helping each other and the pols take photo ops. Posted by: Morgana on August 27, 2005 11:59 PMempathize geeze spelling sorry. I hope those folks get the heck out of harms way! Though goodness knows I can't imagin California successfully doing it. That last non Tsumami a couple months back showed that the warning system didn't work, unless of course you cruised by the weather channel. We ended up calling folks we knew in San Francisco, they were clueless. Posted by: Morgana on August 28, 2005 12:45 AMMorgana, thank you for looking at the astrology of this storm and I must say I am very worried about the New Orleans area since they are so low. Many that live there have no way to evacuate as they don't own vehicles. It would be mostly the poor of the area that would suffer, the ones who have no way to leave. We should be spending money on getting these people out of the area instead of our resources going to the Iraq war. Here's a link to some interesting information on the storm: http://dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/8/27/17546/6229 Posted by: Laurie on August 28, 2005 02:11 AMRich is (once again) a rich read: BIG ERROR ON THE STORY ABOUT CINDY AND WHITE SUPREMIST. Posted by: Jean on August 28, 2005 03:24 AMMorgana I forgot to say how much I liked your artical. It just goes to show how well astrologer works with a great astrologer doing it. I know the loss of your house was awful, but I got the feeling that you are really happy with your new life style. I did not really loose much. An old carboard thing that had drawers. Remember those? Boy am I glad I was forced to replace it. One of those things I was going to do one of these days.
Oh, thank you, Sally and Morgana! Just in time--I was suffering from AW deprivation. Carol, glad you mentioned American Politics Journal. I signed up for their emails and get "Pundit Pap" every Sunday night or Monday. It is so pleasant to get the gist of the Sunday talk shows without having to watch them. Glad to see that AW is back up and running! If this hurricane progresses to Cat 4 and is comes in the New Orleans area it will be catastrophic. The city sits about 10 feet below sea level and during the last 10 years or so, floods severly with an inch or two of rain in a lot of areas. I get the feeling it will be a Camille or Andrew redux. This one is not good. The water temps onlong the coast are in the 90's. Just saw that they are predicting 140 MPH winds and who knows what the storm surge will be. If you have ever been to N'awlins or spent time in the swamps of La you'll know what I'm talking about. I hope those in the path get out safely. Barbara, Just posted at the bottom of the last thread before I realized this one was up. I'm so happy Sally's site is back...what a relief. Thanks, Morgana for addressing this topic. New Orleans is ruled by Taurus, you know, so I guess Mars is coming to get us! We weren't going to evacuate but have changed our minds and now hear that she's Category IV. So we'll be evacuating in the morning after boarding up and hope to drag my sister-in-law and mother-in-law with us. We'll all have a place to stay in Northern Lousiana. New Orleans IS very vulnerable and I am worried about the people who don't leave, especially the ones outside of the city, near the coast. Homes are mostly made of wood - and Katrina will split them like matchsticks, as well as take down all the venerable old, moss-hung, spreading oaks (some with limbs touching the ground). I am sad at the thought of what might happen. The storm still can curve away from us a bit, but either way, she's trouble. Jean, I hope you're right and have a psychic intuition that somehow it won't be as bad as it could be. But please, everyone, do pray for Katrina's landfall to somehow be weak, no matter where she comes ashore. I'll be in touch. Sharon Posted by: Sharon on August 28, 2005 07:38 AMWow. I'm shocked. I thought Katrina was fizzling out after hitting mainland in Florida as a weak Category 1. And then I turn on the radio this afternoon to the national news and find out that she's come back from the dead, and with a vengeance! We all know the Gulf waters are quite capable of rejuvenating a cyclone spiralling off the mainland, but who would have ever imagined that they would have rebuilt Katrina and and put her on steroids? A Category 4? Poor New Orleans! Welcome back Captain Sally and AW. Posted by: NEOBuckeye on August 28, 2005 09:59 AMMorgana,

I live in Houston and believe it or not we are purple here, not red or blue and THE ELECTION WAS STOLEN by OHIO and Florida! I really can't fathom why someone would wish that on anyone. Like I said in my post last night. This one will be worse then Camille and Andrew. Good luck Sharon!!! Head West!!! This storm will create severe damage many miles inland. Posted by: Cybear on August 28, 2005 02:30 PMAlso, Houston is only 50 miles from the coast and trying to get out of here on short notice would be very hard. People just think he's from here. It sucks, but that's how people think these days. Also, people tend to forget that before the ahole got in power here, Texas was always a Democratic state. CATASTROPHIC HURRICANE APPROACHING NEW ORLEANS REGION The latest RECON data and Hi-RES imagery indicates Katrina is now a Record Breaking and Extremely powerful CAT Hurricane The storm is located 25.9N/ 87.9W -- 300 miles SSE of Gulfport, MS, and 270 miles SSE of the Mississippi Delta. Central pressure of 908MB, an eye diameter of 22NM, and max winds of 153KTS (measured 2 hrs ago). This implies a Max sustained surface winds of 160mph, with gusts to 190mph. These is DEEP into CAT 5 territory. The thermal eyewall has attained a phenomenal 20degC temperature differential. This central pressure is very close to that recorded in Camille in 1969 - the most powerful land falling hurricane in U.S. history, with a storm surge of 25' in some locations. As surmised last evening in my final update, if the eye wall was to shrink to 15NM diameter, we would have another Camille -- except it is a larger storm than Camille. This storm will produce the most catastrophic damage in modern times if it maintains it's intensity and projected track. The repercussions of which will be felt nationwide for a very long time come. The exact track - and even the exact intensity of Katrina at landfall is still simply too difficult to predict with the type of precision everyone would like. But the latest track consensus forecast continues to show a Katrina moving over New Orleans proper at 2PM Monday, but striking the Mississippi Delta by around 9AM. ** IF ** Katrina maintains CAT 5 intensity all the way to the coast, a storm surge of 24-28 feet will hit the Delta region, and near 20 feet at the entrance the Lake Borgne which lies just east of Lake Ponchartrain. The wave heights within 20 miles of the northeast eyewall will attain 60-70 feet which will ride atop the 25 foot storm surge itself. Katrina will impact more than NO... its force will impact most of the Gulf... potential of loss of life, for sure tremendous damage to property, and oil rigs... we're talking increase in gas prices that will impact all of us... Also, where is Nat'l Guard? In Iraq, of course, protecting us at home... NOT!!! Oak trees --- they barely go into the ground, Hugo destroyed hundreds in Charleston... (hit at low tide and not nearly as strong as Katrina) pine trees and oaks were affected 70 miles up from the coast... driving to Charleston afterwards was like seeing devastation from a nuclear bomb... I cried all the way... did not walk the beach in Charleston for two years... it changed the coastline... Read the Camille link Pat C. posted above... it changed the coastline drastically... From Tori Amos, Piece by Piece by Tori Amos and Ann Powers c. 2005 (Chapter 5, Dionysus: Bringing the Music Forth) After the Strange Little Girls tour in 2001 and the Afghanistan War, after having the medicine woman come backstage, she spoke to me about how as Americans we have a true mother. That mother is “she who we call America.” This medicine woman said to me, an hour before showtime, “Do you feel that the soul of our land is in the right hands?” I was saddened and quiet. Then she said to me, “Would you turn over your physical mother to those who are in control of she who we call America?” I said, “Well, of course not.” She looked at me with piercing eyes, despite her humble appearance. “Then how can you turn over your spiritual mother so that they have made Miss America Misrepresented so that she has been pimped out for the gain of those who can gain from her?” She changed the tone of her voice. Without moving she rose up like a pillar and seemed to speak for all the ancestors from ages past. “We the caretakers of she who you call America, are giving you a key to the healing of this land. A generation must rise. That generation can be from two to one hundred and two. But this generation of which I speak must form a bond. They have no opportunity to have an intimate relationship with the soul of this land. The European Americans, the African Americans, the Latin Americans, the Asian Americans, and the Middle Eastern Americans must now become caretakers of their Spiritual Mother, or they will be takers of their Spiritual Mother. Caretakers or Takers - you’re either one or the other. If the masses keep taking and not caretaking, then your grandchildren will have very little to nurture them. ... You must find your own relationship with your true Spiritual Mother. Your loyalty should not be to anyone who claims power over the land at any given time, whose intentions can change on a whim, depending if they’ve been seduced by power and what it brings. You must see the signs, even in yourself...” Best to you all. OG Posted by: old granny on August 28, 2005 06:33 PMSharon, Love and Peace. My Brother lives in Victoria, Texas on the coast as well. Pat QofP - I did not take it personally either, I just get a little fired up with all of the Texas bashing going on lately. We're not all idiots here. Haven't followed up on the Trojan horse story yet, but the minute I heard about the fierce reds converging 3000 strong across from Sheehan, I knew Rove and his henchmen are at it again. This is still not going away. It will just tell the world how polarized we are as a nation. Sally, I think all of us would do whatever it took to get you up and running safely. This site is too valuable to lose. Last night the news here in Houston was reporting 20' waves ahead of the storm with some over 70'near the eye. Nothing about them today, I guess they are trying to avoid a chaotic panic over there. People get really strange when things like this happen. Just like when someone screams fire in a theater or shooting begins in a crowded area. Panic ensues and chaos erupts creating more of a problem. The posting earlier from another site is saying that there is a possibility of 60 to 70' waves on top of the 25' storm surge. This would result in a tsunami style wave. This storm will effect all of us, if you need gas, go and get it. I think it will hit $3 a gallon in the next 2 weeks. Posted by: Jill G on August 28, 2005 07:55 PMYou know Jill, I have lived in Austin for 18 years, and I think that Austin is more liberal than before. Now, whites and latinos are closer then ever with East Austin becoming mixed neighborhoods. I remember the days when I was scared to go to gay bars in Austin because there seemed to be a gay bashing case every weekend. Now, Austin has one of the highest numbers of gays and lesbians in the US. Most of the bashing came from the 'frat rats' and that happened everywhere. During the 70's and 80's here in Houston, not only did you have to watch out for the rednecks, but also the police. It was very dangerous here. Never felt that in Austin. Posted by: Cybear on August 28, 2005 08:41 PMHere's a link to the New Orleans Times-Picayune projected flooding map. Add to this 175mph winds and you'll get an idea of what this could be... http://www.nola.com/hurricane/content/katrina_projected_flooding082805.pdf Posted by: Cybear on August 28, 2005 09:11 PMKatrina I’ve taken a few minutes out of writing my next article (hopefully up tomorrow) to try and find the astrological indications for Hurricane Katrina, which looks like it will be bringing an unprecedented disaster to New Orleans and its inhabitants. Also of concern, but nowhere near in the same range as the human toll in Louisiana, will be the huge hike in oil prices resulting from the likely destruction and disturbance of oil rigs in the Gulf. The first thing to note is the exact square of transiting Uranus to US Uranus this weekend. Uranus tends to bring dramatic, sudden and often irreversible change in its wake. Often significant and potentially devastating events occur when a Uranus transit is exact. The other planetary configurations I uncovered took some digging, and I would be interested to know what others have found that might indicate this massive storm and the likely destruction it will cause. The tertiary progressions in the US chart (9/4/05 = 1/14/1784) suggest confusion and loss, possibly due to water, with tertiary progressed Moon conjunct tertiary progressed Neptune, exact today at 12Libra25 and still within orb tomorrow and Tuesday. The tertiary Moon then moves to a conjunction of natal US Saturn (14Libra48) through September 2, suggesting sorrow and loss (Saturn) for some segment of the American population (US Moon) over the next several days. The one thing that points to trouble of some kind in New Orleans is the eclipse chart of 10/13/04 during which Uranus was exactly on the MC and Pluto was exactly on the Descendant in New Orleans at the time of the eclipse . It would be the largest single-year funding loss ever for the New Orleans district, Corps officials said. I've been here over 30 years and I've never seen this level of reduction, said Al Naomi, project manager for the New Orleans district. I think part of the problem is it's not so much the reduction, it's the drastic reduction in one fiscal year. It's the immediacy of the reduction that I think is the hardest thing to adapt to. The appropriation is $450 million, or five percent, more than Bush requested, and $687 million, or seven percent, more than the fiscal year 2004. In order to meet the Administration's tight budget cap, a blanket .8% cut has been imposed on all programs unrelated to defense or homeland security. These reductions represent the fourth consecutive fiscal year of program cuts. With rising inflation, vital social programs will receive substantially less money than in previous years. In addition, the omnibus bill includes certain provisions that have little to do with the allocation of funds. These provisions will also affect the lives of American citizens. But since 2001, key federal disaster mitigation programs, developed over many years, have been slashed and tossed aside. FEMA's Project Impact, a model mitigation program created by the Clinton administration, has been canceled outright. Federal funding of post-disaster mitigation efforts designed to protect people and property from the next disaster has been cut in half. Communities across the country must now compete for pre-disaster mitigation dollars. As a result, some state and local emergency managers say, it's become more difficult to get the equipment and funds they need to most effectively deal with disasters. In Louisiana, requests for flood mitigation funds were rejected by FEMA this summer. (See sidebar.) In North Carolina, a state also regularly threatened by hurricanes and floods, FEMA recently refused the state's request to buy backup generators for emergency support facilities. And the budget cuts have halved the funding for a mitigation program that saved an estimated $8.8 million in recovery costs in three eastern North Carolina communities alone after 1999's Hurricane Floyd. Morgana, you may have something on Ohio. Even if all that's left of Katrina is heavy rain by the time it gets up here, there are a lot of flat and low lying areas in the south and southeast counties of the state. Very easily flooded counties. Red, Bush-voting counties. I think Katrina may be a major wake-up call for this country. We are less prepared than at any other point within the post WWII era to deal with such a catastrophe. How did we stumble so far down to this point? The Next Hurrah Please Donate Money to the Red Cross By DHinMI At the time of the Asian tsunami, there were a lot of questions as to the best way for people in the US or Canada to help out the victims. But as Katrina tracks straight toward New Orleans, with the potential to decimate the city and kill thousands and possibly even tens of thousands of mostly poor people who couldn't flee its path, there's no question where your donations should go to help the victims of this catastrophe. Please, donate to the American Red Cross. The Red Cross has already mobilized people from around the country to head to the Gulf region, and they're the best at dispensing aid, assessing needs and getting reconstruction going. They know what they're doing, and while not infalible, they're quite good. There's no need to reinvent the wheel. And they don't need clothing, or canned goods or anything else. While your impulse to provide such items is admirable, they are experts at logistics, and working with FEMA and whatever other federal and state agencies are involved, they will get what's needed there in bulk much faster. It's actually very expensive for them to deal with contributions that aren't cash. It's maybe a little abstract, and possibly not as satisfying as the thought that something you hold in your hand right now could benefit somebody in the disaster area. But the best way to help is to give money to the Red Cross, and to give it now. Donate by following this link, or donate by phone at 1-800-HELP NOW. And if you're inclined toward asking for help from other less earthly sources of assistance, now's the time to do it. http://thenexthurrah.typepad.com/the_next_hurrah/ Posted by: Jo on August 29, 2005 01:18 PMSo glad you're back up, Sally. I'm quite certain everyone will adjust to any changes you find necessary to make to keep this site up and running! As i write, it's too early to tell exactly what devastation has occurred. I pray for all. Oil has already shot above $70 a barrel, but we all knew what would occur. Interesting post/find, wv. karen Thank you, Jo, for posting that information about the Red Cross. One never knows how wonderful this organization is until they need their services! A few years ago my community was hit by a level 4 (5 being the highest) tornado which devestated our community and left many of us homeless. The shock of that was overwhelming, but you still had to go on and take care of things to get on with your life. Our home was partially destroyed and we had over 80 tall southern pine trees fall on our property, which we soon found out the insurance companies will not pay to remove, so we spent endless days cutting up trees and rolling logs to the road for an eventual town pickup. With no electricity and beastly hot and humid southern weather it was, to say the least, an experience I never hope to repeat. We had to try and save what we could, deal with insurance companies and unbelieveable amounts of awful people that seem to crawl out of the woodwork to take advantage of people in crisis and make money off their tragedy. The Red Cross was there in our community within hours of the tornado and they stayed for weeks supplying cold bottled water (you never know how wonderful a cold drink can be until you lose your air conditioning here!)and food three times a day. They had workers come around several times a day to make sure people were eating and drinking and they offered so much comfort during this stressful time. Our girls were elementary school age then and the Red Cross workers brought them story books and teddy bears and took them for ice cream. We had lost all our clothing inside the house so the Red Cross made sure we were taken to buy clothes and shoes .. just can't say enough good things about this organization and what they do for people in times of need. We never know how much these people do until you need help, and without them I don't think we would have been able to go on with a "normal" life as quickly as we did. They are there when you need help most! Support them if you can! Posted by: Camille on August 29, 2005 02:37 PMI worked for Red Cross when Andrew struck in 1992 and I would suggest before you donate to Red Cross that you find a church in the area, call the World Council of Churches to get a name or donate to the Salvation Army. Make sure you clearly state to the Red Cross (if you donate to them) that you are donating to Katrina. Red Cross spends a great deal of the donated money on Red Cross, accomodations for Red Cross, cars for Red Cross, other agencies do a much better job so look around just a bit. We have not heard from Sharon, keep good thoughts for her. A decision was expected later in the day. The storm already forced the shutdown of an estimated 1 million barrels of refining capacity along the nation's Gulf Coast. Adminstration officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, said Bush seemed likely to authorize a loan of some oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve but that details remained in flux. In 2004, the president authorized loans from the reserve to help refiners make up for missing supplies when Hurricane Ivan struck. Pat PofQ, like you i hung out with the Quakers, they were my mentors during my Viet Nam anti war days. And a dossier does exist on most of us. Sadly. It's the path where fear takes us and a different kind of desire that places our feet on that path, one of greed instead of longing for what makes us whole and healthy. I am very curious how we all will move in the aftermath of this calamity. Sometimes a shock awakens us "like a bell ringing in an empty sky" as the buddhists might say. I wish for all of you a peaceful night.. Pat QofP - I'm shocked because of what I read. I know that they have considered anyone against this adinistration to be a terrorist, but come on. This is insane. As far as I file on me goes, well I have had one since the late 70's/early 80's when I was in college and in a very hardcore punk band. At the time I was approached by the CIA through a young women that I hung around with. She took me to this guy's apartment to get drugs and there were a lot of folders on a table and one had my name on it and was full of family info. I asked them what they were all about and how did he get this information, and he showed me his creds and I declined. The chick was never seen after that and that apartment was empty a few days later. I figured it was because I have 2 second cousins who were feds that were very deep undercover agents. Little did I know that they were watching us all because we were so political. In the late eighties I was working for a large trade show company that catered to the corporate and political world I got secret service clearance for some events. I have been within 1 foot of Reagan, Poppy Bush, Corizone Aquino, Kay Bailey Hutchenson, Phil Gram, Rove, Cheney....and on and on. I actually have mic'd them all as I was doing sound for many of their speeches. This company is still in business and has very close ties to the White House. They do the Repugnant Conventions, all the sets, decorations, video, lighting and sound....And I think I was laid off because of my opposition to the Schrub and the war. The peace movement is picking up steam and is actually growing stronger by the day. Meanwhile, the wheels have come off the Bush-Cheney/NeoCon wagon as the faults in the Right Wing GOP coalition become more and more apparent, and the lockstep , mindless "patri-idiots" now turn upon Bush, and each other with blame, still incapable of taking responsibility for themselves and their criminalities. Not only is the National Guard in Iraq, but their equipment is also... now comes this news from TV station in Gulf: MARTIAL LAW DECLARED: Situation Deteriorating New Orleans, LA (CBS) - Martial Law has been declared in New Orleans as conditions continued to deteriorate. Residents are being urged to get out of New Orleans in any way they can as officials fear "life will be unsustainable" for days or even weeks. By Bill Gallagher 08/30/05 "Niagara Falls Reporter" -- -- DETROIT -- With George W. Bush, a certifiable madman, in power, it shouldn't be surprising that the rest of our republic is going bonkers. The national commander of the American Legion demands an end to all "public protests" and "media events" against the war. Monday 29 August 2005 Washington - Fewer than half of Americans know the purpose of the Patriot Act, and the more they know about it the less they like it, according to a poll released Monday. Fewer than half of those polled, 42 percent, are able to correctly identify the law's main purpose of enhancing surveillance procedures for federal law enforcement agencies, according to the poll conducted by the Center for Survey Research and Analysis at the University of Connecticut. Almost two-thirds of all Americans, 64 percent, said they support the Patriot Act. But support dropped to 57 percent among those who could accurately identify the intent of the legislation. http://www.truthout.org/docs_2005/printer_083005Y.shtml Posted by: wv on August 30, 2005 11:11 PM

George Bush. "One dead American for every day in office". By Mike Whitney 08/29/05 "ICH" -- -- President Bush's latest milestone in the war on terror has been predictably ignored in the mainstream media. Bush, who is now in the fifth year of his presidency, has served 1727 days in office. In a famous passage from their judgment of the following year, the four judges of the tribunal (American, British, French and Russian) declared the crime of aggressive war to be "the supreme international crime, differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." The innovation of the crime of aggressive war was in fact denounced by the Nazi defendants as "ex post facto law," but Justice Robert Jackson, America's prosecutor at Nuremberg, had an answer for this: Illegal wars were nothing more than mass murder, and there was nothing ex post facto about the crime of murder. Posted by: Beasley on August 31, 2005 04:00 AM Here's the Funny Part http://www.truthout.org/docs_2005/083005I.shtml I hope that John Conyers and the progressive Dems who actually are concerned about what is going on, get the chance in 2006 to bring the executive branch and the government in general into ***accountability***. I think we will be hearing much more of that word as Pluto makes its way through late Sagittarius into Capricorn over the next 2-3 years. The transition is already underway.
