NEW THREAD - SITTING DOWN
Time has its due influence over visible grief, that which is expressed by visible emotions-it softens sighs and dries tears…but the loss of that which is, or was, part of yourself, remains for ever. (Sydney Lady Morgan – 1844) Every so often in history, women have enough of the ridiculousness of a given situation, and they sit down, and refuse to move. Women do it all the time with children or spouses who have demanded too much and given too little, we sit down until changes or made. Women did it in 1848 at Seneca Falls, NY when they held their first convention to develop a strategy to gain the right to vote. They sat down at home and in the streets until 1920 when they finally garnered their objective. Rosa Parks sat down on Dec. 1, 1955, she was exhausted after a long day at work and it suddenly seemed ridiculous not to sit down and it was worth being arrested, following Rosa Parks courageous act, everyone sat down. The 9/11 Women, they have sat down and are not letting this administration off the hook. They are not “moving on” they want answers and have been unrelenting in their questions. It’s almost humorous the anger and frenzy men and children go into when women “sit down.” On August 6th at 11:00am Cindy Sheehan sat down in Crawford, Texas and ever so slowly others are beginning to sit down with her. She has had enough, so many have had enough. There was a threat of her being arrested (an act of intimidation) and women all over the country were prepared to go to the police and demand they be arrested with her. The longer she stays the more she will become an object of ridicule and attack and the more uncomfortable we will all become, and the more uncomfortable Mr. Bush’s vacation becomes. There will be a call for the President to do something, talk to her, and get her out of there. Get that picture of a grief stricken, passionate mother off our newspapers, our blogs and our TV. There isn’t a more tragic picture in the world, Iraq, the US, Israel, Palestine, any country, than a mother grieving the senseless death of a child. There isn’t a more painful heartbreak than losing a child. Cindy Sheehan is today’s picture of all the grief of all the mothers everywhere who lost a child because of someone’s “folly.” The world is uncomfortable watching. What noble cause Mr. President brought our sons and daughters to their death? We need to know Mr. President, we need to know why our children are dying; we need to know why our children are sent to kill people who did nothing to us. We need to know. I don’t have the birthdate of Cindy, but I do have the date and time she began her vigil and date Rosa Parks took that bus seat in the “all white section.” Rosa Parks Cindy Sheehan Sun 9 Sagittarius Uranus 9 Pisces Both charts indicate a firmness of conviction; both charts had an aspect to the US natal explosive Uranus. Both Suns were in Fire Signs. Both charts indicate a need to be recognized and validated by an onerous government who had allowed a situation to go to far without reason or compassion. I cannot help but wonder what would happen if women and men all over this country went to their Court Houses, their State Houses, their White House and simply sat down.

"And Cindy Sheehan sat down" I am very, very moved and absolutely speechless (rare for me). The beauty and majesty of simplicity; direct and unfiltered from the heart. Bush, and it seemed like no one in the world noticed. Amid bombs in London, bloodshed in Iraq, a missing blonde in Aruba and a scandal curling up on the doorstep of Karl Rove, Bush's Republican Party quietly celebrated a massacre on Capitol Hill. Two of the most long-awaited legislative wet dreams of the Washington Insiders Club -- an energy bill and a much-delayed highway bill -- breezed into law. One mildly nervous evening was all it took to pass through the House the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), for years now a primary strategic focus of the battle-in-Seattle activist scene. And accompanied by scarcely a whimper from the Democratic opposition, a second version of the notorious USA Patriot Act passed triumphantly through both houses of Congress, with most of the law being made permanent this time. Bush's summer bills were extraordinary pieces of legislation, broad in scope, transparently brazen and audaciously indulgent. More... First of all for making the connection between two wonderful women who made us pay attention when they 'sat down'... the common aspects are remarkable. What a find... only you would think to look. Only you would think to remind us of all the women who have sat down and how, because they are the nucleus of their own families they have so much influence over the world beyond theirs. Your words are energizing and remind me that there have been many times when one person has made a profound difference. Yes, you're spot-on, the world is focused on Cindy now. Thank you for reminding all of us that we may come to this site and discuss the issues but not abuse each other. And thank you for this site... it is rare among many online... because we do get to know each other, all the pains and joys we experience. And since I didn't notice the poster when I read it, I will just as whomever did post it to repost....it goes perfectly. I think it is quite clear to most of us now that the world we live in and the world the dominators or wouldbe dominators of the world live in are different in every way in terms of power, wealth, testosterone and chutzpah. The overlap is when our world becomes more than just the innocent and/or complacent consumer world and then morphs into the cannon fodder source to fuel their ambitions. They get this far because most of us trust the rest of our people to run things fairly. HUH....right. It works sometimes....for some amount of time....but the planets always bring the power lesson into focus sooner or later. Looks like it is 'later' for us....but crisis is a great purifier. Salutes to the ladies who went to prison so that we could vote....(The Iron Angels) and to the others before and after them, incuding Rosa Parks and Cindy Sheehan. I went to school with a student photographer named Vernon Merril III, he was a very shy, small man. He took the pictures of Rosa on the bus (as a stringer for Life, I think) and was beaten and hosed very badly by the authorities. He committed suicide in 1998. We too, have moments everyday when the choice is to act compassionately and bravely, or succomb to our fears and prejudice. Whether we are a man or a women, each of us has a responsibility to our selves and the human community to make this choice wisely. Actions and words have consequence. Ultimately humankind, all of us together, will climb to greater heights, or be held back. Cindy Sheehan reminds of us-one person makes a difference. Her heart strikes our hearts. Those of us that resonnate with her call are emboldened, those that hear her call out of fear, cringe at the power of her authenticity. The shortest version of our definitional problem, as we see in attacks from India to Israel, is that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Lewis Lapham, the editor of Harper's, writes in a scathing essay, "We might as well be sending the 101st Airborne Division to conquer lust, annihilate greed, capture the sin of pride." Since President Bush has given us his own somewhat exuberant definition -- "We go forth to defend freedom, and all that is good and just in the world" -- we can only hope there will be no further mission creep. Hendrik Hertzberg, in a New Yorker essay, makes the useful point that while Israelis kill Palestinians and Palestinians kill Israelis, it is wrong to imply moral equivalence: "Innocent Palestinian civilians, including children, have indeed been killed, often carelessly, and that is bad enough. But they have not been ‘targeted.' For Hamas and Islamic Jihad, however, the killing of innocent Israeli civilians, including children, is deliberate, premeditated and desired." While I doubt the distinction is of much consolation to the mothers of children who end up as collateral damage, it's certainly worth making. Posted by: wv on August 12, 2005 04:38 PM

Every indication I see is that Cindy's party is getting bigger all the time. In the newspaper on a daily basis (Denver Post), on the local and national broadcast news each night, even on the crawler this morning! And the protests are growing with the women in Atlanta, and the crowd in Crawford getting bigger. I understand that Mercury Rx is typically seen as a time when things really go haywire and are disrupted and communication is fraught with misses, and I understand there's a good reason for it being seen in that way! (Though personally I don't seem to suffer during Merc Rx much...well, except for the Merc Rx in my wedding chart, that's another story and it's continually finessed and ironed out, so all is ok!) Here are the signs they are in now, but I don’t have the degrees. Ceres - Scorpio, until Sept. 25 I also want to address your comments about personal attacks. As one who has been personally attacked, for supposedly being someone other than I claimed to be, (No need to rehash who or when. It’s over. It’s done. We move on.) I understand people pulling back and not wanting to continue to participate. That has happened to me. My nature is not usually one of confrontation (Sun Gemini, Moon Sag, Libra asc., Venus and Mars in Cancer). This site is a beacon of light for so many of us. And I so value the people and their perceptions. Yes, I know that there are times to vent, but I agree that we should all strive to see the best in one another and not be driven by negative emotions or the need to be right. And it is so important so see more than just our side to things. There can be a kernel of truth in a different opinion, if we are willing to look for it. And it enriches us. It doesn’t diminish us. Self-reflection, admitting we may be wrong is not always easy to do. Isn’t that what we are asking of President Bush and our leaders? We need to also ask it of ourselves in our personal interactions. So even though I now post very infrequently, I’m still lurking and sending light to all. Perhaps in the future, I will post more when it feels right. And to all the other lurkers, perhaps sensitive souls who are not quick verbally but feel deeply, you are participating by sending your good thoughts, your love and your light. I offer a Daily Thought from Ascended Master Djwhal Khul ”I offer generosity to all I meet this day by consciously releasing all frustration, impatience and irritation in the very moment it arises.” Peace You're right Sharon, it was to be separated and is in the article, I've changed it three times but it still comes the same so it's something with the "publishing software." and it is Uranus at 9 Pisces. The similarity in the two charts (Rosa Parks and Cindy Sheehan) was stunning to me. Rosa wasn't trying to incite a campaign or feed into the Civil Rights Movement (the white community did that when they arrested her) she was just sick and tired of the stupidity of segregation, sick and tired of working and still being a second class citizen with no rights and she sat down. I don't think Cindy Sheehan started this as a political movement (although once again the white men who created this situation turned it into a political face) she is grief stricken over the death of her son and she heard "noble cause" one too many times and she just decided to go there and sit down until the death of her son was validated by some kind of truth, not the BS this administration keeps putting out. This administration, whether it's toward a country, a religion, a person, doesn't have a PLAN, their plan is just to call other names and intimadate through that. Cindy got sick and tired of it and is "sitting down." She knows the war won't end because of her, but she wants some kind of accountability from these yahoos and the yahoos who are protecting them.

My favorite radio show on Pacifica WBAI is 'The Positive Mind' with Armand Demiel, an intuitive psychoanalyst. He had a week devoted to male psychology. He said that some men get afraid to feel their feelings so they unbalance the cart with their women who will get angry, fearful, tearful and emotional as a projection of the male's repressed feelings. When the women 'sit down' or become aware of what is happening they will not react to the the male's unbalancing behavior. They will not act out the male's repressed energy so that the male must feel his own feelings, not projection. Projection takes two to dance. Stop the dance. The bullies must be confronted so they can confront their own feelings. This sit down is not silent, it roars. Jeff Green refers to retrograde planets as "being processed internally" vs. outwardly in the material world. I have Mercury retrograde in my birthchart and notice more internal awareness in myself during retrograde transits. Similar to what Lori says. Posted by: Beverly on August 12, 2005 09:53 PMWell, Mars in Taurus is certainly conducive to sitting down on the earth and not budging. The timing is perfect after all that Aries bravado. I wonder if this will have big repercussions and continue since it seems to be connected to the long Mars transit. I'd like to see this go on in the furrow being dug now, way after Crawford. The Merc retro is also perfect as a long needed forum is now becoming manifest. Another viewpoint, and a more valid one, in my opinion. A simple question is being asked... what constitutes a noble cause for war and a child's sacrifice? The Saturn in Leo is drawing attention to an authentic, honest self expession and exposing the sham of the ones with hubris. From Jean Huston: Hello everyone! At the end of her speech Cindy asks us: "What Kind of Extremist Will You be?" As you will read this compilation, you will realize that through the infinitely stupid and malevolent choices and actions of the universally abhorred current U.S. administration, the world is on the verge of a precipitous fall into a far greater abyss of violence, death and random destruction than the senseless war and brutal occupation in Iraq have been and still are. I also hope that, like Cindy Sheehan, you will realize as well that the time has now come for every single citizen of this planet to rise as One and demand not only an end to all wars, but insist upon the need for a quick cleansing of the dark elements who have wreck havoc around the world and created untold sufferings. Because the trigger point for the Illuminati evil plans to create an "excuse" to attack Iran could very well be next Wednesday, August 17, during an anti-terrorism drill near Charleston, South Carolina, I've been inspired to suggest to all interested Light Servers to rally, for a few minutes preceding and following the top of every hour for the next 7 days (up to August 19), in silent meditation and global at-One-ment to channel Light to all sentient beings on Earth so as to successfully nullify such plans and to trigger the release of the massive pent-up Forces of Love and Peace in all of us that are now ready to transform the waking consciousness and spiritual awareness of all humans on Earth, for the Highest Good of All. Lori, people born with Mercury retrograde usually have issues cleared up during a Mercury retrograde period as they are able to process what has been happening during the direct periods. People with a Mercury direct in their natal chart have "issues" show up that they must be processed during the direct period. For natal retrograde people, things clear up during retrograde periods, for direct Mercury, things become muddled during retrogrades. And these US chemical companies taking over world agriculture is SO scary- literally have life & death stranglehold over millions- billions of human-beings.. Just read the Iraq law the US insituted- "..While historically the Iraqi Constitution prohibited private ownership of biological resources, the new US-imposed patent law introduces a system of monopoly rights over seeds. This is virtually a takeover of Iraqi agriculture. The rights granted to US plant breeding companies under this order include the exclusive right to produce, reproduce, sell, export, import and store the plant varieties covered by intellectual property right for the next 20-25 years. During this extended period nobody can plant or otherwise use plants, trees or vines without compensating the breeder. In the name of agricultural reconstruction this new law deprives Iraqi farmers of their inherent right, exercised for the past 10,000 years in the fertile Mesopotamian arc, to save and replant seeds. It enables the penetration of Iraqi agriculture by Monsanto, Syngenta, Bayer, Dow Chemical and other corporate giants that control the global seed trade. Food sovereignty for the Iraqi people has therefore already been made near-impossible by these new regulations...." "Pattern Recognition" (to use the title from a William Gibson book) is what intelligence is all about. Also, thanks for helpful comments re Mercury retro, which I was born under. I remember a particularly tough time in my life when--besides all the tense transiting squares, conjuctions, oppositions, etc.--Mercury was retro. I felt assailed from all sides. Then one day I realized that the people opposing me were experiencing Mercury retro also! That thought was pretty comforting and indeed their efforts did misfire. This site is such a pleasure and comfort. I often log in here to read the latest after a long day struggling with alligators, and it calms me down. Regarding the differences of opinion on the posts here, I am reminded of when--in the early '60s--I worked for a magazine that transmitted info by teletype. We were told to abbreviate all messages and never to add "unnecessary " words. But after some major misunderstandings, I broke the rule and told all our folks to add "please", "thank you", and the other common courtesies, because the technology could not convey the tone of voice we would normally project. On previous threads other AWorlders have commented on this same thing. Since we can't see and really "hear" each other's tone of voice, we must be especially careful. Many of the posters here are just naturally tactful. My wish is that in my next reincarnation I will be. For now, I am a somewhat heavy-footed Sun in Aquarius, Moon in Capricorn, Asc in Taurus. But who knows, maybe grace and lightness someday await me. Meanwhile, I totally understand misunderstandings. But the best part? The writer, Sheila Samples tells us what many were hoping... The REVOLUTION is NOW... It All Started at the Pig Farm “If you shut up the truth and bury it under the ground, it will but grow, and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it bursts through it will blow up everything in its way.” -- Emile Zola, French author ~snip~ "...There are few things more relentless this side of Hell than an August Texas sun. I have searched in vain for Nancy Pelosi, Cynthia McKinney, Charlie Rangel -- searched for just one Republican who would ask Bush to meet with the mother of a slain soldier...
My country is in the grip of a president surrounded by thugs in suits By Howard Zinn More Americans are beginning to feel, like the soldiers in Iraq, that something is terribly wrong. More and more every day the lies are being exposed. And then there is the largest lie, that everything the US does is to be pardoned because we are engaged in a "war on terrorism", ignoring the fact that war is itself terrorism, that barging into homes and taking away people and subjecting them to torture is terrorism, that invading and bombing other countries does not give us more security but less. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article9747.htm Posted by: wv on August 13, 2005 03:19 AMcon't Six soldiers and marines were killed today. Four yesterday. In just 10 days of August, 44 Americans and many, many more innocent Iraqis have been murdered. We don't "do" body counts of Iraqi citizens, so there's no way of knowing how many have died, but we do know that more than four soldiers and marines have been slaughtered in a single day -- every day. The pig farm president may not know where his children are tonight, but Casey Sheehan knows where his mother is -- sweltering in 100-plus-degree weather on a desolate prairie -- ignored by the commander-in-chief -- but still out there, bravely supporting the troops. ~snip~ Bush says he "grieves 'n mourns" for the dead and maimed. His "thoughts 'n prayers" go out to them. He 'preciates them making the ultimate sacrifice for his noble cause. Many, however, are beginning to think Bush has a strange way of showing his compassion. He has not attended a single funeral of the now 1,848 Americans who have died in Iraq because of his lies and lack of planning, and he continues to stubbornly "ditch" Sheehan as she keeps a lonely vigil on the Texas plains. Bush might wish later that he had come out to meet with Sheehan upon her arrival Saturday when there was but a handful of supporters accompanying her. If the media covered the meeting at all, he would have been portrayed as a caring president, and by Sunday it would all have been over. But that isn't how Bush operates. He does not negotiate; remember, his will is strong, his resolve will not be broken. Bush is not satisfied until everything he touches turns into a steaming, odious pile of bullshit. He made the cowardly choice to send out a couple of minions -- national security adviser Steve Hadley and deputy White House chief of staff Joe Hagin -- to tell her that Bush really really cares, but nobody's coming home until "the mission is accomplished..." So -- as Bush likes to say, "history will show" the Revolution started on a steamy August day...at the pig farm. Pig Farm Part III Who knew? Who would have believed just a week ago that, after all our years of hard work, the crude and pitiless Bush would run out there, ram his middle finger in the face of a heartbroken mother, and jump-start the Revolution? By the time Cindy Sheehan leaves her station at the pig farm, Bush will know that he was wrong. He will know, because "Mother" is not just half a word, as Bush and his Texas buddies, his Skull and Bones cohorts, his PNAC perps were raised to believe. "Mother" is Nature. "Mother" is Earth. "Mother" is an invincible, protective force that, if awakened and sufficiently outraged, will sweep the entire murderous bunch from their seats of evil power. Ultimately, "Mother" will bring our troops home. The mainstream media will find, much to their chagrin, that the Revolution is NOW, and will continue apace without them. The Iconoclast is offering hourly updates on the Sheehan vigil. Friends of Peace and Justice of Waco is mobilizing support for Sheehan’s vigil, which could last until the end of August. More information can be obtained at the Crawford Peace House website or by calling (254)486-0099. Air America Radio hosts, especially Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy, are all over this story, giving minute-by-minute updates, many of them coming from Sheehan herself, who calls the station regularly. Google "Cindy Sheehan," and you will discover the entire Internet is wide awake and on the march, and will join the Revolution -- at the pig farm. http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Aug05/Samples0812.htm Posted by: Jo on August 13, 2005 03:25 AMIn the midst of an opinion piece in my local paper, I found this little gem of a snippet: ~snip~ According to Professor Matthew Shugart of the University of California-San Diego, for the past three election cycles more than 200 million votes were cast in races electing our 100 senators. Republicans won 46.8 percent of the votes in these elections, but the Democrats won more votes, 48.4 percent. Yet the GOP currently holds a lopsided 55-44 majority. In 2004, Democratic senatorial candidates won more than 51 percent of the votes cast, yet Republicans won 19 of 34 (56 percent) contested seats. So the minority party holds a majority of Senate seats. This GOP overrepresentation is due to Republican success in low-population, conservative states in the West and South that have the same representation - two senators per state - as high-population states like California. from http://www.denverpost.com/guestcommentary/ci_2934280 Time for a fresh look at life terms on the Supreme Court By Steven Hill; San Francisco See? Here, we report the identification of further contemporary astronomical events, a pair of occultations of Saturn in Pisces, which may be capable of astrological interpretation as ``omens'' supporting Molnar's hypothesis. We also show that Molnar's model horoscope for the birth of Christ requires a remarkably rare set of circumstances. Molnar's argument depends not just on the fact of an occultation of Jupiter (which is a relatively common occurrence), or even on a pair of occultations, but on the astrological interpretation of the first occultation being within the terms of Jupiter in Aries--a technical terminology meaning that Jupiter's precise position within Aries amplified its own influence and especially the powerful influence of an occultation. The presence of Mars in Aries was a further a priori requirement for his identification. Aries was traditionally associated with Judaea and surrounding areas, according to the Tetrabiblos of Claudius Ptolemy (see ref. 1). The presence of an astrological device, the Lot of Fortune, in the same part of the zodiac as the first occultation is also crucial to his identification of these events as the Magian star. He showed that similar horoscopes in the Magian or Chaldaean system had been described in ancient times for Roman emperors such as Augustus, Tiberius, and Hadrian. More.... "The Venezuelan government ... will proceed quickly, with responsibility, but firmly to reciprocate in the cases of U.S. citizens who travel to our country," Rangel said at a news conference. It is only a matter of time before we, in the greater public and of all parties, demand our representative government to investigate current issues and revisit past investigations, overturning every stone to discover any criminal acts, however great or small. All of the above is swiftly binding up into a snowball that will lead to a great avalanche. As we can see, they are caught completely unprepared for it. Their only method is to scramble and adhere to the same tactics of murk and unbearable repetition that has brought them this far. Unfortunately, it is too late. Consequence is unavoidable. Reality cannot be ignored for more than just a little while. So, where does that leave all of us? What plans should we draw? The Democratic Party has been criticized relentlessly for "having no message." Might I suggest that our message be to reverse every possible policy of this "dying king?" We must not wait to begin collecting our spoils. For, they are the very spoils that have been pillaged from us over the past six years. Let us all fight from this day forward to explore a universal and successful withdrawal from Iraq. Let us diligently pursue criminal indictments for all whom have served to perpetuate the lies that had placed these noble men and women there in the first place. Let us repeal the USA PATRIOT ACT and take the time to explore a beneficial plan that does not rob us of our civil rights (nor has to be distributed in the middle of the night to avoid debate.) Let us recapture our individual stake in our political structure. Let us prosecute all whom have taken action to defraud us from our vote. Rest assured, my friends. The end is near for this President. Let us be ready." More at Andrew G. We need to expose and bring down his father as well. George Herbert Walker Bush has profited quite handsomely from the "death merchant" Carlyle Group during his son's reign, which, contrary to how he might defend himself, has not been a coincidence. All corrupted roads in this Republican-infested Government eventually lead back to Bush Sr. Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, Rice, Hughes, Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, Abrams, Bolton. Along with Dubya and Bush Sr., every single one of these corrupt individuals should be dragged out of office by the Justice Department and frogmarched before the cameras as they are being hauled off to federal prison, and then to The Hague to stand trial for War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity. May the entire PNAC/Neo-Conservatism movement and methodology be thoroughly exposed, discredited and then riotously ridiculed before taking its place as one of the most destructive "isms" in American history. Not so much to see if Bush will talk to her, but to see the overall energies and how she will fair with her protest and how those protests will affect the resident. So much is coming to light, all the time, and I am very concerned about what this administration may have up it's sleeve to avert our attention and take the focus off of their dirty deeds. Yesterday, Mr. Bush stated that he did not rule out "military action" against Iran...but that he hoped for a diplomatic solution first. We have all heard that before. It is beyond me that he could even contemplate such a statement considering the mess he has made in Afganistan and Iraq. Sheehan has already-- around a year ago-- had one face-to-face meeting with Bush. On Wednesday, Juan Cole published the excerpt from the Wolf Blitzer interview in which Sheehan described the bizarre, affect-less way that Bush behaved during that meeting:
Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject. And he acted like it was a party. http://justworldnews.org/archives/001372.html The big demonstration in DC is on September 24, I think. A chart of this should be fascinating. Blessed Be. Posted by: JoannaOregon on August 14, 2005 01:47 AMYou're right Joanna, that voice is getting louder and louder... but this woman is so calm, so quiet. This excerpt from codepink blog, today: "...The first question of the morning pool came from a young soldier who had just returned from Iraq. He was polite, addressing her as Ms. Sheehan. Surrounded by cameras he told her he was sorry for her son's death, he said he had lost many friends in the Iraq War also. "Death is a part of war and what we are doing is more important, bringing freedom to the world. Think of all the people who died for the freedom we enjoy. So your son's life is just a drop in the bucket." Those of us standing behind the cameras gasp, but Cindy's face continued to listen to him calmly and openly. Forced by the gasp he quickly said "but I feel for your son." At this moment Cindy put her arm on his shoulder and holding him to her side they walked out into the field together, she asked the press to give them some privacy. They honored her in a way that I have never seen before, they were still shooting photos as the 2 walked away. Cindy drew the young man close like a mother, they spoke for about 5 minutes during which the shift in his feeling was palpable. He stepped away and pulled a book he had written about his experiences in Iraq and gave it to her. Then they hugged a long deep embrace, you could see the conversation continuing. She walked back towards us and the press as he left. Yet again, this woman had made me cry with her strength her love and her courage (oh I forgot to mention everyone else in the camp had tried to keep this young man from confronting her). As we walked back to our make shift office in Casey's camper I was pouring my heart out in awe of her, she stopped me and said "do you know what that young man said as we were hugging? He said his mother agrees with me. She told him that if he had been killed in Iraq she would have done the same thing ...and then he called me Mom." http://www.codepink4peace.org/article.php?id=451 Posted by: Jo on August 14, 2005 02:34 AMThe War Prayer Outraged by American military intervention in the Phillipines, Mark Twain wrote this (dictated it actually, in 1904)in advance of his death in 1910 and sent it to Harper's Bazaar. The women's magazine rejected it for being too radical, and it wasn't published until after Mark Twain's death, when World War I made it even more timely. During his writing career, he had criticized perhaps every type of person or institution either living or dead. But this piece was just a little too hot for his family to tolerate. Since they believed the short narrative would be regarded as sacrilege, they urged him not to publish it. However, Sam was to have the last word, and even the word after that. Having directed it to be published after his death, he said, "I have told the truth in that... and only dead men can tell the truth in this world." It first appeared in Harper's Monthly, November 1916. I post a link to it here... but warn you, if you have never before read it, that it is quite graphic... one can understand why the family felt in 1904 it would not be accepted. Like some other writings (the Bill of Rights for one) if you xeroxed it and passed it around to your neighbors they would probably lock you up. If, however, you know of a brother or cousin or nephew who is thinking of enlisting in the military... send a copy of Twain's War Prayer... http://www.lnstar.com/mall/literature/warpray.htm

Go, Joanna... thanks for posting his addy, I'll give him a piece of my 'beautiful mind'!!! Posted by: Jo on August 14, 2005 04:32 AMDo not miss this: PRESIDENT BUSH, SHAMEFUL . . . "It's hard to know, but I think that Harry Truman would have met Cindy Sheehan. I think that Dwight Eisenhower would have. He knew about military sacrifice -- the horror and complexity of it . . .
Ronald Reagan would have stopped his car, if for no other reason that to hold Cindy Sheehan for a few moments, to express the regrets of a nation that her son was lost, and to thank her -- even though he might not have made her and many of us believers in this war. Bill Clinton would have had Cindy in to the ranch and made a summit of it. George Bush drove by. . .on the way to a fundraiser. Shameful. He should have stopped, made a gesture -- even if she stood on the opposite side of his policies.”
I am completely shocked and amazed that the "genius" of Karl Rove and the high handlers around Bush could have possibly made such an incredible, stunningly stupid political blunder. They should have had Bush driving his truck down that road with food and water and asking Cindy plus a couple of friends up to the house with cameras rolling. He has now turned Cindy into an international tragedy, the very face of a mother's grief, and on top of it, the added benifit of Bush showing his arrogance and ego. She is out there in that heat seeing, talking to, hugging pro-war protesters and the cameras are rolling. But George, he isn't like the "people" he is rich and he is President of the United States and he cuts brush and rides bikes and the Secret Service protects him from the masses, don't want to come close to those people. They have had money and power to protect themselves, but they are not close to being politically astute. Even his father would have been down there. Posted by: Sally on August 14, 2005 07:27 AMAnd it's a good thing it wasn't, Miss Sally. ;O) Posted by: JoannaOregon on August 14, 2005 07:45 AMThis is why I am such a firm believer in the cosmic orchestration. You might even call it "intelligent design"! It's why I am fascinated by the nodes of the Moon and have studied them intently for a long time. The lure of the South can be fatal to the fulfillment of potential. And yet, the North can operate subconsciously through it all. The North holds so much promise. I always thought George's dictatorial ambitions were doomed simply because of his South Node in the fifth. And his Pluto in Leo on the Ascendant has driven him to seek his own impossible destiny. With a twelfth house like he has, and planets in the first quadrant, he should have stepped off the stage this lifetime and gone inward to seek spiritual redemption. But lo and behold, he's doing just that now. By refusing to see Cindy with all his pompous, hubris drenched Leo, he has actually set off a dramatic response in the collective. Had he met with her, it would have been over immediately, but maybe some cosmic force has influenced this moment to the benefit of this human family. The world is watching and knows. And there is a chance that from all of this we could redeem ourselves to a degree, reveal our failure, humility and sorrow, and recapture the lost love that the North Node in Leo of our country naturally attracts. As Saturn crosses that point. Rather than pretend to bring democracy to others with our South Node in Aquarius, we can turn our attention to our natural light and let it shine. The tendency for others around the world to admire us will always be there. Would that we could use it wisely. Another thing that crossed my mind is that George in all his destruction might be trying subconsciously to destroy all that his father and his family has built. Another plus for mankind. Posted by: jm on August 14, 2005 11:09 AMAlso, I hope that rather than soak the town square with the blood of our fallen kings, we could leave the condemnation to the forces of justice and go forward with a more majestic behavior. The approval rate for Mr. Bush's handling of Iraq plunged to 34 percent in last weekend's Newsweek poll - a match for the 32 percent that approved L.B.J.'s handling of Vietnam in early March 1968. "...My mother, who is 83, is a lifelong Republican voter, moderate in politics but as staunch a Republican as Bob Barr. I don't talk politics with her much because I just try to get along. I am visiting her this week, and during lunch she told me that 2004 marked the first time in her life that she has not voted for the Republican presidential candidate. Presumably, in every election starting in 1940, she has voted for the Republican. She rips Bush like a Kossack charger in a blood rage. I was shocked at the depth of her hatred for Bush. This is the background to her suggestion, which I am passing along to all of you. She has been following the Cindy Sheehan story closely, and is completely supportive of her. The title of my diary "Women wearing black", is her suggestion for an anti-Bush movement: Women who have lost their sons or daughters in Iraq, and those who support them, wearing black in solidarity, grief and anger against Bush. That's the idea. I think it's a powerful suggestion. So, honor the memory of Casey Sheehan and the other soldiers who have died for Bush's ill-planned fiasco, and remember a lifelong Republican who has charged into battle against Bush. Put on the black. Put it on and wear it in the streets. Wear it in grief, pride and anger, and hasten the day our preposterous, impostorous clown in chief is held (politically) accountable for his acts." This young man did not know, but learned from posters, that his mom's idea is in current use... nevertheless, it is an idea... here are links to sites with info on groups of women around the world who are wearing black... and have been for some time... http://www.womeninblack.org/vigils/vigils.html The 13th International Conference of Women in Black will take place in Jerusalem 12-16 August 2005 under the title "Women Resist Occupation and War". Posted by: Jo on August 14, 2005 02:53 PMAll: Remember the story of Passover? An integral part of the story was Pharoah's stubborn refusal to deal with Moses. The result was that the conditions were created for the Israelites to free themselves without any conditions. Had Pharoah had agreed to any terms, Pharoah could have had diffused the situation: freed a few slaves and the rest still waiting for something, something, to happen. Bush could have agreed to speak to Mrs. Sheehan and then set conditions on the meeting. The situation would have dissipated totally in a one-day wonder. But his obstinance leaves Sheehan free to speak her mind, to rally others for support, and ultimately lead to a true anti-war movement with no compromises and no apologies. Since Shrub's reinstallation: I always wondered why it happened that way, and it occurred to me a long time ago that the complete responsibility for the debacle resting on the Republican's shoulders may be the most freeing thing yet for the Democrats. Democrats are now left free to completely rebuild as an opposition party without having to compromise or apologize. When the Democrats once again assume their position as a majority party, they will be able to completely jettison the Bush innovations with clean hands. Posted by: Carol on August 14, 2005 02:59 PM

Career prosecutor to supervise Plame probe On his way out the door, Deputy Attorney General James Comey, who chose junkyard dog Patrick Fitzgerald to run the Plame scandal investigation, has chosen senior junkyard dog David Margolis to supervise Fitzgerald once Comey leaves. This is truly bad news -- for the bad guys. Margolis made his prosecutorial bones doing organized crime cases, eventually rising to Chief of the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section of the Justice Department's Criminal Division, from which position he supervised the seventeen Organized Crime Strike Forces which more or less won the war on the Mafia. (That's when I got to know him.) Margolis has a stratospheric IQ, has been known to wear Willie Nelson t-shirts to work, is used to long investigations using somewhat edgy investigative techniques, and can't be intimidated by anybody. So the risk that Bush would put in a Skull-and-Bones budddy to put a lid on Fitzgerald turns out to have been chimerical. Last paragraph above edited to eliminate a confusion between Associate Attorney General Robert McCallum, the Skull-and-Bones classmate of GWB who was earlier rumored to be in line to replace Comey as Fitzgerald's supervisor, and Deputy Attorney General nominee Timothy Flanigan. Flanigan will be Margolis's boss, if he ever gets confirmed, which now seems quite unlikely given Flanigan's having hired Jack Abramoff as a lobbyist. More.... Rove and Ashcroft face new allegations in the Valerie Plame affair by Murray Waas August 13th, 2005 2:39 PM Rove consulted on three of Ashcroft’s political campaigns, earning $746,000. Justice Department officials made the crucial decision in late 2003 to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the leak of the identity of undercover CIA officer Valerie Plame in large part because investigators had begun to specifically question the veracity of accounts provided to them by White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove, according to senior law enforcement officials. Several of the federal investigators were also deeply concerned that then attorney general John Ashcroft was personally briefed regarding the details of at least one FBI interview with Rove, despite Ashcroft's own longstanding personal and political ties to Rove, the Voice has also learned. The same sources said Ashcroft was also told that investigators firmly believed that Rove had withheld important information from them during that FBI interview. Those concerns by senior career law enforcement officials regarding the propriety of such briefings continuing, as Rove became more central to the investigation, also was instrumental in the naming of special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald. More Fitzgerald, Rove, and Plame news... A few minutes ago, the Village Voice posted on its website my latest story on the special prosecutor's investigation of the Valerie Plame affair. Hopefully, it offers the most detailed explanation to date as to why in late Dec. 2003, then-Attorney General John Ashcroft recused himself from further involvement in the case, and also allowed for the appointment of Patrick J. Rove and now Ashcroft are in ever deeper trouble. The administration is lowering expectations on Iraq: "We set out to establish a democracy, but we're slowly realizing we will have some form of Islamic republic," said another U.S. official [..] "That process is being repeated all over." Cognitive dissonance hamstrings the leadership. In the population there has been a change in sentiment since the last election. Bush is on record low poll numbers, so is support for the Iraq war. Nearly 60 percent of Americans now oppose the war, according to recent polling. Sixty-three percent want US troops brought home within the next year. The media tide is turning. This should be the very best moment for an opposition party to take a real lead and call for an end of this expensive adventure and win a significant lead for the next election. No more flip-flopping like Kerry between being pro-war and anti-war; a call for international consent before going to war; no to a preemptive doctrine that has proven to be catastrophic. But no, the Democrats leadership has decided to prepare for the next election by courting the arguments they think would have won the last one. If some have doubts as to the amount of time they are on the Internet, they can go elsewhere. But that's probably not where the power is right now. There is a calling in cyberspace and we are responding. It is too soon to judge it. One has to 'listen' very carefully, there's no body language, no smile, no frown. Neither is there skin color, gender, age or religion. I appreciate your vision... it brings hope. Posted by: Jo on August 16, 2005 02:07 AMLaurie, Thanks for your questions re Mrs. Sheehan's chart because they spurred me on to look further. Mrs. Sheehan has a Ceres which sits right on top of Shrub's Uranus/North Node in his 11th house. That combination is now being opposed by a Pluto transitin Shrub's 5th. According to Demetra George in her book on Asteroids, Pluto/Ceres aspects often bespeak of death themes. If you put her noon time placidus chart around Shrub's natal chart, that opposition sits right on his 5th/11th house (Sag/Gemini)of peers/children. So at the very least, her Ceres is activating and rattling his Uranus/North Node in Gemini with unexpected communications from the press, his peers...with a sort of "revolutionary," unexpected twist. Add to that, transiting Pluto now opposing all that energy and hitting his 5th house of Sag on his South Node/Vertex. A fated encounter indeed, of a different sort of faith. The unexpected, shake up theme is further articulated by her natal Uranus being at 6 Leo right on the cusp of his rising sign. Kind of like a fire cracker up his ass ( whoops, nose). And her natal Venus/Mars conjunction in his first house touching his devious Mercury/Pluto conjunction and opposing his own Natal Ceres at 12 Aquarius! Ha! Ceres, Ceres, Ceres. She wins. Add to that what Jo said ( I think it was Jo) her Sun/Mercury in Cancer sitting very near to his Equatorial Ascendent (his health) and his not so nice Saturn in the 12th. Her Mercury will tell the rest of us about his Saturn. Her Sun will illuminate his 12th house to the world. And that's just for starters... Posted by: Beasley on August 16, 2005 03:04 AMYou go Beasley, I like the sound of that... though it was my post, the words were Pat QofP's. I love the last part of your analysis, "Her Sun will illuminate his 12th house to the world." ((((Beasley)))) Cindy Sheehan has asked supporters to start candlelight vigils in their communities to support her and call for an end to the war, this Wednesday night, August 17th. http://gaelicstarover.blogspot.com/2005/08/local-vigils-for-peace.html Posted by: Jo on August 16, 2005 03:19 AMWhoops, Pat QOP! Yes, it WAS You. Thanks. And still white light to you and Eric...daily. Posted by: Beasley on August 16, 2005 03:31 AMThank you Beasley! I didn't have time today to root through the drawer for George's chart! Go vote--you'll enjoy the results: http://aolsvc.news.aol.com/news/article.adp?id=20050815090909990001&ncid=NWS00010000000001 Posted by: shylurker on August 16, 2005 03:43 AMAND Place her Saturn around his chart. It falls in the 5th house of children, speculative exploits, etc., etc. It will give his Mars a realistic "hard" time. Take that, you "war time" pretzel! Posted by: Beasley on August 16, 2005 03:44 AMAmazing, Beasley! Excellent work!! You rock! There's a report over at DU that some guy in a truck came by and ran over all the crosses at Camp Casey. They are supposed to have pictures soon. I dunno. Just telling you what I read. What a jerk! Posted by: shylurker on August 16, 2005 04:06 AMTruth Out is reporting the same thing shylurker, that the crosses were mowed down. Too bad for that, that redneck just helped keep it all alive for several more days and just as Mercury is going direct. If there is anything that looks worse than ignoring a grieving mother, it's mowing down crosses. That will recharge sympathy and should drive more people to the Wednesday night vigil. There are three sites in my area just within a 4 mile radius and looks like they are all full. This is an incredible juxtaposition of hate vs. love. I will put my money on love, at least it's a start. Posted by: Sally on August 16, 2005 04:26 AMThanks. Incidentally, Joe Trippi is an idiot because he really didn't get clear rebutting O'Reilly. He just kept pounding party line. FINALLY, Trippi said something interesting to O'Reilly: O'Reilly: Which is it Mr. Trippi? She first said Mr. Bush is a good man and seriously interested in our trooops, and now she is calling the President a liar and a murderer. You can't have it both ways Mr. Trippi. She's was either lying then, or she is lying now. Mr. Trippi: Yes, you can have it both ways, and she isn't lying. Posted by: Beasley on August 16, 2005 04:32 AMJust reported at DU that the truck and driver have been apprehended. Posted by: shylurker on August 16, 2005 04:40 AMThe thing I forgot to say was that "good ole boy" knocked those crosses down when Mercury had stationed ready to go direct (or already direct depending on the time) when Mercury stations to go retrograde or direct is a very powerful time and indicates that we have a whole new ballgame. This is about to morph out of control, and it would be in Bush's best interest to mosey on down there and extend his apologies. The media is not going to be able to stop the people who gather to support Cindy. Posted by: Sally on August 16, 2005 04:58 AMWhile waiting for news on Camp Casey and the crosses, I learned that Phyllis Schlafly (sp) is 81 today. Oh, well . . . Posted by: shylurker on August 16, 2005 04:58 AMOnly the good die young. Posted by: Jo on August 16, 2005 05:07 AMCap'n Sally, you were right-on about the Merc going direct, I rekkin. This group is planning on making a caravan to Camp Casey early next week: http://www.moveamericaforward.org / That's just great! Meanwhile, I'm sure Smirky is hard at work. Posted by: shylurker on August 16, 2005 05:20 AMAdd to that Sally, is the fact that Pluto has just gone into the degree where it will make its station and go direct. The Moon was there today. Thus the religious imagery. And the hypocrisy. The people must be getting an inkling by now. This devout Christian leader? My word. This mowing of crosses sent shivers through me. Jo, you said exactly what I've always thought. That this cyberspace conversation frees us from our prejudice. Posted by: jm on August 16, 2005 05:21 AMMr. Bush just did a fine Houdiniesque escape act while Saturn was in his 12th. Looks like it's over. His 40th or so vacation is hardly a retreat. Posted by: jm on August 16, 2005 05:30 AMOver here in beautiful Suzhou where it is as hot and humid as Houston, I am catchng up to yesterdays news. I must make a short comment on Dean. I have just scanned the transcripts. Yes, you do need a plan to retreat, a military manuever which should be carried out in an orderly manner to save lives or you have the fall of Saigon or Napoleon at Moscow. It is just as important to have a get of the country plan as it is to have a invade a country plan. It may be more important. How many people? How many seats on your planes or ships? How much fuel? What are you going take with you and what are you leaving behind? If you do not have a plan it will be a massacure. So do we have generals who know how to retreat. Probably not. In the Punic Wars, Fabian retreated to victory over Hannibal. Unlikely to repeated by a Rumsfield. If you are planning an invasion you must plan a retreat and a end as well. Bush and Rumsfled have never had a plan. Karl Rove is the only one in the bunch who can even think there might be a need for a plan and he could not make a real plan. I think they are trying to get rid of the generals who can think and plan. They did not use them in the war and they really believe that Halliburton can with draw up a retreat plan in a couple of days. It would take a group of intelligent generals a few months longer to do it well. Great to hear from you, Betsy. I fear the abandonment of Iraq will be far more horrendous than the retreat from Saigon. Scares me! Posted by: shylurker on August 16, 2005 06:07 AMCan't sleep... if some redneck can run down rows of crosses, someone can do harm to them in their tents. Have you ever slept in a tent? In the heat of August in Texas? Through rain? My sister and I slept in a CCU waiting room one night in wooden chairs... we didn't know if our Dad would make it through the night... and last summer the boys and I slept in the tree house on an air mattress... that was an experience! But I've never camped out for a week in the hot sun with fire ants (they got into Cindy's tent one night, she had to move to the Peace Center)and portapotties. Yesterday a.m., about 5:30, 14 SS trucks/SUVs came by with their horns going... Yeah, I'm having a hard time resting in my comfy bed, with the a/c going... and the quiet of the woods... Posted by: Jo on August 16, 2005 06:11 AMI think Cindy is in an altered state, and protected. She's lost everything and is at the bottom of her Wheel of Fortune. She has nowhere to go but up. And she will. This reminds me so much of the trials of a spiritual quest. You need the quiet of the woods, Jo. But we are all involved, and now we have a responsibility. Posted by: jm on August 16, 2005 06:49 AMHaven't been posting lately but just wanted to chime in briefly ..... Cindy must be really making the global corporate media buzz - I was most surprised to see her mentioned in our big corporate owned tiny little local paper here in rural NZ. Hmmmmmmmmm. Posted by: kiwijeanie on August 16, 2005 06:49 AMAugust 31st - Every planet is connected to at least 1 other planet
The 2000 Grand Conjunction of Jupiter/Saturn (our 20 year clock) in May 2000 was at 22 Taurus, Mars goes Retrograde this year at barely a degree past that conjunction, plus barely a degree away from the 2001 Inaugural Saturn. Some frustrated anger building here. Mars will go back and forth in Taurus until nearly February. At various times over the next few months, firey Mars will square Transiting Saturn, oppose Transiting Jupiter (when Jupiter goes into Scorpio) square Transiting Neptune. Mars is going to be slapping us all around. No help from his big Daddy Pluto, they are going to inconjunct, confusion as to how power should be used or displayed. Timing off with that aspect. As soon as I can I will write more later tomorrow (after work) in the meantime, I am putting up a new thread. Posted by: Sally on August 16, 2005 08:02 AMPost a comment
