The String Game
The New Moon in Leo New Moons are known for planting seeds and initiating new ventures. Well not this new moon!!! This is the driest, hottest (no kidding triple digits) and barren sign for our moon. Do not plant anything while the moon is in Leo. It's a good time for killing weeds and pests or cultivating what has already been planted.
Now let's just amplify this pattern with Jupiter in opposition to said N. Lunar Node. But wait, that's not all tied to that node. Venus at 15 Virgo in the 6th (home of the military and the brave) has a tight inconjunction (trigger finger) and forms the other arm of the Yod, Finger of God with our illusionary oil demon Neptune at 16 Aquarius in the 11th House, filthy lil' buggers are rampant in the House and the Senate. Heh heh heh, more still. Uranus at 9 Pisces just within the 12th House is the focal point of three more inconjunctions involving our new Moon and Jupiter. Trigger happy chart. Take a look ( chart ) . Whoa Nellie, that new Moon and Mercury rx are forming an opposition to Neptune, and the oily bugger then goes on to sextile, my, my that North Lunar Node, the Dragon's Head. What's with the Lunar North Node? The North Node, the Dragon's Head (caput draconis) represents the constellation Draco. The North Node is a point of opportunity for growth, while the South Node is karma, its' Dragon's Tail expresses Saturn's restrictiveness. Whereas the North reflects the benefic properties of Jupiter. This is the realm of evolutionary development collectively and karma collectively. The analogy of reaping and sowing can be applied here. Another way to wrap your mind around the energy is the N. Node represents a spiritual target, the collectives mission is to accomplish it (get it right) this time around in societies evolution. The South, the Dragon's Tail, is an accumulation of experiences from times past, a rutted path where we make the same choices we are comfortable in and refusing the evolution through new experiences and challenges. We can also look at the South Node as a place where you take the easy way out, and the North where you take experiences in. Many of you remember playing the String Game by yourself or with a friend. We would create a myriad of intricate designs using our fingers and a simple piece of string. That's what these chart patterns remind me of, the interlacing of various strings of energy and in a sense the manipulation thereof. The North Lunar Node indicates an opportunity for growth. Now how that opportunity manifests in the coming days is up to ones imagination, (ya'll keep track of your dreams), pick a disaster, natural, supernatural, geo-political. The future is rife with opportunities for destruction and rebirth on many levels. We, the collective, the People must seize that opportunity to grow and evolve as a People despite the fog of Neptune or the horror of Pluto's cleansing. There are some very strong benefic resonances with the Jupiter placement but I've seen destructive results from Jupiter Venus interaction. Often these two benefic's are involved in the dance of life the cycle of death and rebirth. This is the Lammas Season, the Feast of the Harvest, the sacrificial King of Celtic lore. In the waning hours of the dark Moon, George Bush said in the whiney nasal voice as he added: "We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq." Quick grab a barf bag. Well that got enough of my attention to find out what he was whining about. Since boy wonder is in Crawford on vacation someone must have loosed a stink bomb. Ah here it is, By Steve Holland Thu Aug 4, 5:17 PM ET CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - At a joint news conference with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe at Bush's ranch, the president said Zawahri's videotape, which threatened attacks on the United States and Britain, made clear that Iraq is part of the war on terrorism. "He's saying, you know, leave ... as I have told the American people, the people like Zawahri have a ideology that is dark, dim, backwards," Bush said. "He's threatening. They have come up against a nation that will defend itself." He added: "We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq." *** That was Bush's response to the latest Scare America video from al-Zawahri . Gee do you think if we got out of their countries, stopped trying to steal their oil through hook or crook, stopped killing and torturing their citizens, men, women and children, just maybe some facsimile of peace can be restored? Didn't we start this whole mess by putting troops in Saudi Arabia to safe guard the ole oil King. The death of King Fahd of Saudi Arabia over what is traditionally celebrated as Lammas on August 1, 2005 is striking considering the Celtic mythology associated with the season. Quite frankly that's not a particularly good omen for America. The sacrificial King who gives his life and blood to the land for the good of the people and to perpetuate prosperity. The death of our son's and daughter's sacrificed on behalf of George Bush's adventure in imperialism, well I think that's gonna start sticking in people's craw. WMD? Spreading Democracy? Oh please. We of course have had our usual governmental shenanigans occurring in these last few days. The Bolton appointment heads the list, the oil company boon, CAFTA, Patriot Act, way weird weather, and an interesting earthquake prediction for the Mendocino Fault (thank you Peg), one only has to read the blogs for more information then one can entirely digest. Can you just speculate with Ohio's reputation for corrupt politics if Hackett really did win? Still it must be banging the gong for the GOP. Where do the strings fall in the US chart? Eeewwe eeewww eeewww. (Chart) Well the 8th House placement of the new Moon, Sun, Mercury rx, snuggled close and Saturn has moved into it as well with it's restrictive nature, or the you sowed it so you reap it bucko energies. Hot air breathing down your neck, the whole dragons breath kind of energy. Where's that Dragon's Head ? It's falls in the House of the People, 4th House. Will we see the opportunity or will Neptune's cloudy energies and the lies and deceptions of the oil demons fog the mind of the People? Be wise to that old Snake Oil salesman. Feed those projects you have in motion, and gads don't plant any seeds now, they'll just be so much dust. Poof. Might just be hot enough to pop corn.

You nailed it Morgana, that South Node is conjunct the US Saturn, square the US Sun and conj. GWB's Moon. Karma for the US and GWB. I look at Saturn in the US Chart as our "leaders" and because it squares the US Sun, our "leaders" have a sense of being "Father" to us and we look to them to be our "Father" we don't even care if they are the good or bad "daddy" just the "daddy" Maybe with this months South Node on the US Saturn we can take another leap forward as a nation toward maturity. Everyone make your new moon lists based on the house this new moon falls in your chart. Go wild, live large with your wishes. Posted by: Sally on August 5, 2005 04:21 AMMorgana's back!!! Yippeeeeee. (Can you tell I'm happy?) Sally, ya just gotta love it. Teflon coatings eventually get pealed away, scraped and dinged, stuff starts sticking, and then they're trashed. Well Morgana, I'm thinking we may just be patrying like it's 1973. http://slate.msn.com/id/2123825/ .......... I'm thinking of getting a puppy. Aren't they wonderful? Pat, I have a "puppy" (7 mo. & 30 lbs now). He is the sweetest most loving doggie but a word of caution... When in his biting stage, he ripped lining from a mink coat, took stuffing out of a saddle stool we have, knawed furniture, ruined 5 pair of shoes, and, just today, when cooped up on the closed in deck, he ripped up a mini trampoline. We paper trained him at first and then regretted it because there was so much clean-up. Maybe we just waited too long. He's now learned to go potty outside but still thinks it's ok to do it indoors, too. I was told about the kennel or crate or cage, whatever you want to call it as they all mean the same thing, but I didn't like the idea of putting him in a cage. I finally gave in and made it cozy, with a rug, food, water, toys, gave him dog biscuits and treats. He likes it now, it's his "den" but, if the door is locked, he wants out after an hour and I feel bad if I leave him in too much longer. However, the theory is that he won't go to the bathroom in the kennel so you keep him in there unless he's being walked or otherwise attended to. The minute he's on his own and I'm not watching, he's accident prone. Anyway, the Cash/Mir pups look very sweet, docile and gentle. You may not have your hands full quite as much with them. Posted by: Sharon on August 5, 2005 06:13 AMScintillating article, Morgana. You are quite a wordsmith. I'll have to read it a few more times myself. Posted by: Sharon on August 5, 2005 06:15 AMOh Sharon....sheesh. You've really had an experience. If I were in your shoes, I'd consider taking him to a trainer or training classes. I did that with one of my dogs years ago, and it was the best things I ever did. She turned out to be awesome. I actually think it was me who was trained in the end. I learned to think like the pack. I've not gotten a puppy in years. I have a wonderful dog now who was a rescue. That has usually been the way I brought dogs into our family, so consequently, they have not been puppies. I'm still thinking about it. Posted by: Pat C on August 5, 2005 06:24 AMMorgana writes music, don't you think? Franklin's trial is scheduled for Sept. 6, although this new indictment could delay matters, but one thing is clear: When these people are finally brought to trial, it is the War Party that will be put in the dock. All those mysterious government officials, not identified by name in the indictment, will be called to testify under oath: the same goes for reporters who laundered Franklin's ill-gotten secrets. The heirloom beans that I planted (under Moon in Cancer, the best!)were doing fine until this damnable heat hit about 2-3 weeks ago. Even watering has done no good. The plants are awful. I'm concerned that I won't be able to save any of the seed and these beans are over 100 years old. Also, talk about remembering your dreams, I always have "interesting" dreams. Last night I dreamed I was talking with a homeless man. He was fairly young (40ish). The setting was a barren landscape. He was saving sandwiches and putting them in his trousers????? Then down came an eagle and sat on the ground. A cat came up to him and was rubbing his body on the eagle. I became concerned that the eagle would eat the cat. The homeless man said no, it wouldn't hurt it. The eagle had an angry look in his eye and I noticed he had blood on his beak. Then on to a new scene....Perhaps too much salsa. I wrote them to say "that's because the solid 45% opposed to this war from the beginning were all highly informed and well educated, the pollsters didn't have anyone else to ask." Another poll shows that 70% of the people (ignorant I am sure) believe the WH is lying in some way about the Plame affair. Just go to the first response, entitled "That's called a 'Quagmire'." Hey Patricia, I can tell you a little about Barbara Hand Clow. She is the author of "The Pleiadian Agenda" published by Bear & Co, which I am in the middle of reading at the moment. Her basic premise as I understand it is that the group of seven stars which make up the Pleiades constellation actually contains an eighth star that we typically overlook - our sun. That is, we are actually Pleiadians ourselves. There are advanced galactic intelligences that have been established for millenia within this constellation, and as Earth heads into 2012 and the end of the Mayan Long Count calender we are being offered an opportunity to "awaken" and join our brethren in the galactic community. That's the premise in a nutshell. Barbara is currently leading workshops at a space called Wise Awakenings in Bellingham, WA that I believe correspond to the lunar cycle. All of the proceeds from these workshops will be used towards building a memorial for her deceased son. I will probably be attending the next workshop to check it out - I would be happy to share my experience with the Astroworld audience. Blessed be! Janet, the New Moon this month is 12 degrees Leo, look on the cusp of the houses and if your Leo house happens to be the 6th, but the degree on the house Cusp is 20, then the New Moon would fall into your 5th. Morgana, the one thing that bothers me is their desire to rename the "war on terror" to "the struggle against extremist" an extremist can be anyone who disagrees. I don't know if they've figured that one out but they will. I think there is a massive attempt by the world's top 2 percent to get the world completely under corporate control, and that would mean "shoot first, ask questions later." It's very widespread in some parts of the world," Collins said in a conversation from space with Japanese officials in Tokyo, including Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi. "We would like to see, from the astronauts' point of view, people take good care of the Earth and replace the resources that have been used," said Collins, who was standing with Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi in front of a Japanese flag and holding a colorful fan. Collins, flying her fourth shuttle mission, said the view from space made clear that Earth's atmosphere must be protected, too. "The atmosphere almost looks like an eggshell on an egg, it's so very thin," she said. "We know that we don't have much air, we need to protect what we have." Posted by: Pat C on August 5, 2005 10:19 PMHowdy ya'll, Thanks for the Mayan links! I'll definitely post my experience with Barbara Hand Clow. I'm also reading Maya Cosmogenesis 2012 by John Major Jenkins - it is truly mind-blowing. The more you research the Mayans the more profound the whole thing gets. The concept of this time in history being "in-between" world ages is about the only explanation that makes sense of the last few years! One thing I've found interesting is that the Mayan astrologers figured out the concept of "precession." That is, they observed that some stars are fixed and some stars are moving in the sky. This led them to understand that the Earth was round and it was wobbling regularly on it's axis (astrologers - please forgive me flubbering through this description!) Pretty advanced thinking - and trust me, if you take even a cursory glance at their calenders there is plenty to back up this hypothesis. So this led them to incorporate amazing cycles of the microcosm and macrocosm into their calenders and perception of reality. But grokk this, the Mayans didn't invent any of these cycles into their belief system, society, what have you. They only noticed what was happening already around them. Thousands of years later we're only beginning to understand what they were onto. That's a good concept to internalize, I think! Greetings Astroworlders! I have been experiencing a bit of challenging summer, not being able to make much progress on a mountain of work ... a broken computer left me unable to connect. Cheney arrived in DC in 1968 (with a very right wing bent) and "...was immediately attracted to Rumsfeld" who did not reciprocate, but after doggedly working to get R's attention, C finally wound up as R's assistant (R was head of Office of Economic Opportunity)in the Nixon WH. They worked together for the next 30 yrs; Nixon wanted the OEO's mission downsized, but R "started making the case for expanded federal funding of legal aid initiatives." and "told reporters that he wanted to do 'justice for the poor...'" and was subsequently sent elsewhere than the OEO. apparently, R was hoping to be GW's babysitter VP, but C chose himself instead, and chose R as Sec'y of Defense. Now we have the Iraq snafu, and in the WaPo article Morgana posted it says, "There is a strong expectation at the Pentagon that Bush will give a recess appointment to Eric Edelman , a former ambassador to Turkey and ONETIME AIDE TO VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY." Is there some infighting going on now and R needs a "babysitter" too? Or will he be canned for no longer wanting to go along with bad policy, like O'Neill was? Stay tuned... Many are waiting for the the next governmental terrorist attack. And so what if it happens. We've survived so many disasters. We probably would not be hit personally . If they take our freedoms, we will have to find our own freedom within. And since things usually don't happen the way we think they will, this attack probably won't either. Since they are trying to control through fear, the best way to beat them, is to be unafraid. They will do what they will, and so can we. The Moon in this Cancer ruled country governs the subconscious, the darkness, hidden fears, the unknown. We just had Saturn pass through Cancer to familiarize ourselves with this fear once again. One of the functions of the Leo Sun is to shine light on this darkness, bring it into consciousness, and discover the confidence to dispel the haunting fear. We can take full advantage of this opportunity now if we choose. And Saturn through Leo will keep a firm grip on this light for all of us to absorb. The more we look up and around at all that is being illuminated, the more we can continue with our heads held high. The bombs will fall where they will. The guns will crack. The poisons will unleash. But we don't have to be afraid. The fear of universal destruction may spare us the worst, yet the possibility of it will nevertheless hang over us like a dark cloud so long as no bridge is found across the world-wide psychic and political split -a bridge as certain as the existence of the Hydrogen Bomb. If only a World-Wide Consciousness Could Arise that all division and all fission are due to the splitting of opposites in the psyche, then we should know where to begin…people are largely unconscious of the fact that every individual is a cell in the structure of various international organisms and is therefore causally implicated in their conflicts.” Carl Gustav Jung [1956] " The conflagration that broke out in Germany was the outcome of psychic conditions that are universal. Barbara Posted by: Barbara on August 6, 2005 03:09 AMSally, just checked out final posts on last thread and your kind advice about Leo new moon wishes: "everyone throw their shoulders back and live large" was so heartening. Since early this year I've been trying to help my Scorpio daughter deal with a situation where she was defrauded to such an extent that she is in danger of losing her house. New moon in Leo is in my 4th. (No natals there.) I'm making the biggest possible wishes. I don't know my daughter's houses because she was adopted and we don't have anything more precise than her birth day and place. A very good local astrologer told her once that likely Gemini is her rising sign. I had always thought Libra because she is so careful to be fair and because natal Venus is there and she is very attractive. However, Gemini would work, too. She is very good at the day to day living stuff (and I've noticed that is both a Gemini and Virgo trait.) Sharon--re Mars in Pisces--whoo, boy! I've got Mars conj Saturn in Pisces. If the MSM ever really decides to connect ALL the dots: AIPAC + the treasonous neo-con/Israeli allegiance connection (and I'm Jewish!) Gannon + Bush, the Reagan/Bush 1 era pedophile ring, the real 911 events, what Jack Abramoff has really been up to (including his connection to the 911 hijackers), the SCOTUS reality of the 2000 election decision, the secret Cheney energy meetings to divvy up Iraq's oil resources prior to the long planned invasion, the extent of worldwide secret detention/torture centers run by the U.S., etc., etc., etc., the American people will step out of their mammothly grotesque SUVs and put down their giant plates of tainted beef just long enough to probably go stark raving mad with revenge lust for what Bushco has really done supposedly in their name! I have sadly come to my own conclusion that there are no other "beings" in whatever form here to help us and that we ourselves have to be the ones that save the planet in the here and now. I also don't put much stock in any grand legal case coming down the pike or this administration "resigning in shame" .. tend to think these people have gotten away with so much already that it's just another day in the office for them no matter what they do next. I don't know what Mr. Fitzgerald was or is doing, but a year ago there were several articles stating indictments were on the way (summer of 2004) and Rove was top of the list. I am not surprised about the appointment of a Yalie for his boss, his past boss has for some reason held the investigation up and looks like it will soon die a natural death, because if Mr. Fitzgerald was going to do something he could have done something by now. He is in a dangerous position and is dragging his heels on this one. Nothing is going to happen over night or over 5 years, this has been going on for well over a hundred years and the unraveling will be fast in comparison but not fast enough for us, I do realize that. We are at the end of a centuries old pattern, that takes time and some frustration but we will get there. I was looking for a particular Thomas Paine quote the other day and got a lot more than I bargained for, let me share a couple of them from the 1770's. "It is never to be expected in a revolution that every man is to change his opinion at the same moment. I don't think Fitzgerald is dragging his heels. Miller and Cooper dragged their heels for a year. Miller is in jail, and it's not for 'not revealing her source.' imho Plame is tied to the AIPAC spy scandal. Three indictments have been issued in the Franklin matter, and more to come… it all is tied together in a huge conspiracy to “fix the intelligence” around the invasion of Iraq, and maybe more. The FBI was tailing the AIPAC folks before 9/11—- they finally nailed Franklin (Feith’s guy) and wiretapped him to get these two… Judith Miller is tied in with this conspiracy… that’s why she’s in jail… Fitz knows WHO she talked with, he wants her testimony (I’ve read the superceding subpoena carefully). This investigation has gone too far to “whitewash” it. Evidence has been accummulated and shared. Fitzgerald does not have to answer to Flannigan, and only power Flannigan has is to fire him. The case will still be there, papers have already gone to the judge, and he has seen charges against Miller, even tho’ they were redacted for public consumption. Nope, this is not going away, not to say Dubya et al won't pull some 'Saturday Night Massacre' kind of event to try to make it go away. Course, I'm still looking at this from a 'legal' position. If they circumvent the law... well, we all know what that will lead to --- Dan Froomkin at Washington Post has some quotes on the power Flannigan will have: Cindy Sheehan. She is hanging in there. "There" being Crawford Texass. The nearest parallel I can draw is to Pat QOP who is hanging in there and inspiring us all--strength, strength to the max. Posted by: shylurker on August 7, 2005 06:21 AMPQ, It amazes me when confronted with the knowledge of how little control we have over other people's destinies and over life in general. We always seem to end up having to let the chips fall where they will. From my perspective you are responding to all of this with a tremendous amount of wisdom and understanding. I remember the exact moment when I knew that my beloved husband was going to die. I stopped trembling, took a stiff drink of hard liquor, put on my sequins, and went to his hospital room where I watched the sunset and thought about my future. Then I crawled up and joined him in his hospital bed (the nurses were wonderful and let me do whatever I wanted by day and into the night), where I watched the most beautiful documentary on artists all across America. My fate was sealed. A week later he died at home. I do believe that the dead leave us great gifts when they go if we can receive them. They want us to be compensated and they know full well how hard it is for us to see them go. How forlorn we will be. I think you might be coming into a great creative period in your life. In time. There is really nothing to hold you back. I still believe in justice and balance, and that our gains are equal to our losses. Posted by: jm on August 7, 2005 07:46 AMOuch on the big gas price jump, Sally. Wonder just how big it will be this time? It's presently $2.29 per gallon here on average in Northeastern Ohio -- down from about $2.34. Maybe $2.60 or $2.80 may not be out of the question by the middle of this month? Could it even reach $3.00? It's already nearly that in some places, I hear. I was expecting that we'd get up there sooner than later, but really not until the end of this year. Incidentally, the Peak Oil circles are really in a tizzy right now: Good Morning AW. What a comfort to come here....local friends are still sleeping! Mom Protesting Iraq War Meets Bush Aides By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press CRAWFORD, Texas - The angry mother of a fallen U.S. soldier staged a protest near President Bush's ranch Saturday, demanding an accounting from Bush of how he has conducted the war in Iraq. Supported by more than 50 demonstrators who chanted, "W. killed her son!" Cindy Sheehan told reporters: "I want to ask the president, 'Why did you kill my son? What did my son die for?'" Sheehan, 48, didn't get to see Bush, but did talk about 45 minutes with national security adviser Steve Hadley and deputy White House chief of staff Joe Hagin, who went out to hear her concerns. ~ snipped ~ http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050807/ap_on_re_us/bush_peace_mom

Citizens for Tax Reform, the ballot initiative fronted by Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, has received five contributions totaling $225,000 from Ohioans for Responsible Government, incorporated in March by a pair of lobbyists and an attorney in Columbus. The contributions represent 75 percent of the total $304,584 received by Tax Reform during the first six months of the year, according to a campaign expense report filed Friday with Mr. Blackwell's office. Incorporation documents filed with the secretary of state's office list the three directors of the new Ohioans for Responsible Government as Tom Whatman, lobbyist and former executive director of the Ohio Republican Party; lobbyist Tom Needles; and attorney William Todd. Posted by: Pat C on August 7, 2005 04:28 PMYou're right Jo and I thought of that last night. Miller and Cooper took it to the Supreme Court. And I hope against hope that everyone is right about this situation but I don't see it, I want to see it, but the fact is neither Gonzales or Comfy (sp?) would have let Fitzgerald stay in place if he could or would do real damage. While Rove obfuscated in the beginning, he readily gave his waiver to Cooper, Scooter has yet to do so, except he did give a blanket waiver in the beginning. Given this administrations tendency to hide, lie and stonewall, they are not simply sitting by and giving Fitzgerald the power to indict them. These are people who have defied the courts and Congress. Won't give up papers on Roberts, Energy, Bolton, 9/11, Iraq etc. It's hard to believe they don't have something up their sleeve on this. Fitzgerald and the Grand Jury simply do not have enough power, the only hope is if Fitzgerald has people behind him with more power and has compromising information on them that cannot be refuted, and I don't rule that out, I just have serious doubts. Posted by: Sally on August 7, 2005 04:40 PMKeep in mind Sally, the Republican Party is not united any more. I just saw Kay Bailey Hutchinson (sp) the other day. People who thought Bush would be a nice, simpleminded, stupid puppet who would sit in the Oval Office and they could just get all their stuff done without him interfering much. He was supposed to be their nice, happy, Avg Guy face for the Public. But when the Puppet starts to cause more harm than good, begins to find his backbone, starts to believe HE'S the one in Power, and the Party becomes more hated than ever, well, maybe it's time to get the Puppet back in his box, so to speak. I've always felt that Bush would leave in disgrace and be the most reviled President in American History. And something like that doesn't happen by accident. Those who pull the strings will put out the word and, BAM!, the press turns, the indictments come down and Bush is severly wounded, in a matter of speaking, and can't cause any more harm. Perhaps I'm dreaming, but that's how I feel in my gut this will happen. So, I do think Fitzgerald holds the cards ... and people with more sense and power than Bush are letting him. Just my two cents. Posted by: Jonathan on August 7, 2005 04:50 PMYup, it was probably the same group that did their best to destroy Carter. Posted by: Beasley on August 7, 2005 05:01 PMBush removed the Federal Prosecutor and Grand Jury in the Guam with Abramoff which is potentially a more serious situation than Rove outing Plame. The other hope is Fitzgerald moved too quickly in fingering Miller and Cooper and thanks to Joe Wilson kept it in front of the people and it would look too incriminating to remove Fitzgerald now, except they didn't seem to think the Bolton situation was serious enough in the public to cooperate with Congress. This is an administration that behaves as if nothing they do will be stopped, and so far they've been right. I just don't see Fitzgerald as being the power king that can stop them. I don't think you can arrest a sitting President, just a Vice President http://bellaciao.org/en/article.php3?id_article=7431 Posted by: Sally on August 7, 2005 05:44 PMWell, it use to be that you couldn't sue a sitting President either. The neocons changed that. Posted by: Pat C on August 7, 2005 05:56 PMI think that Fitzgerald IS powerful and is aligned with those in Power, which doesn't necessarily mean Bush, Rummy, Rove, et al. True Power is something not often seen on the surface. Those who boast and brag and swagger often have very little, if no, power to speak of. But the ones pulling the strings from behind the curtain? Those are the ones who call the shots ... and that ain't Bush OR Cheney. So, my gut instinct tells me that Fitzgerald is aligned with those pulling the strings and these people, seeing the damage done to the way the World Community sees us (which can greatly affect their Bottom Line) and Bush's horrible lurch to the Right (which can turn many Moderates away from The Party), are becoming increasingly aware that Bush is no longer helping them, but hurting them. So, he'll have to go. Again, just my intuition talkin'. Posted by: Jonathan on August 7, 2005 06:00 PMHmmm... After noting the great respect and dignity owed to the Executive office, the Court held that neither separation of powers nor the need for confidentiality of high-level information can justify an unqualified Presidential immunity from judicial process. While the independence of our government's branches must be protected under the doctrine of separation of powers, the Constitution does not prohibit these branches from exercising any control over one another. This, the Court added, is true despite the procedural burdens which Article III jurisdiction may impose on the time, attention, and resources of the Chief Executive." Posted by: Jo on August 7, 2005 08:37 PMThe above decision refers to 'civil litigation'... the Constitution itself gives remedy for criminal offense in the form of impeachment. Our nation is under siege, but we have yet to learn exactly why. I've never seen life's experiences come without lessons attached. I still hold to my view that the neocons could have been set up this last election. That they have become a liability. Something is off about them. There are so many factions in the ruling elite group and I always thought they fuctioned best by keeping their power and agenda hidden. Why would they suddenly change their MO? Comey noted that if Fitzgerald "needs to issue a subpoena involving the media, for example, or if he wants to grant immunity to somebody," he will not have to obtain approval of the Justice Department. (The reference to the media certainly hints at subpoenaing Novak's phone records, or calling him before the grand jury -- again suggesting progress in the inquiry.)" http://writ.news.findlaw.com/dean/20040106.html Note the reference to "special counsel". I was not aware Fitzgerald had this concurrent status. Legally, it gives him greater scope and I believe diminishes the concerns we have this weekend over the speculation that Fitzgerald will have "to answer to" McCallum or Flanigan --- that is show his hand to friends of the administration. I still cling to the law. If Dubya is indeed as some believe above the law, then we might as well wrap it up --- give up to the fascists (or NOT!) or of course, take to the streets big time. Nonetheless, if you can simultaneously remain aware that the essence of Eric -- the most valuable part -- remains, it might help. I understand the loss of a child for a parent is painful beyond my imagination. I hope you're blessed with being with him when the time comes, because it's quite something to witness and experience. It's also enormously comforting to spend as much time as you can with his body afterwards. Hope I'm not freaking you (or anyone else) out. But I really want you to know this ahead of time. No wonder Bush won't meet with her... she's articulate, passionate --- and she wants answers. 26 years ago today, Casey was 6 hours and 49 minutes old. What a joyful day that day was. The birth of our firstborn. He was so wanted and his birth was so highly anticipated. A true bundle of joy. One year, one month, and 25 days ago (almost to the minute) George Bush and his Crime Cabal killed Casey in Sadr City. When you sent me a letter offering your condolences on the death of my son, Spc. Casey Austin Sheehan, in the illegal and unjust war on Iraq, you called me Cindy, so I naturally assume we are on a first name basis. George, it has been seven months today since your reckless and wanton foreign policies killed my son, my big boy, my hero, my best-friend: Casey. It has been seven months since your ignorant and arrogant lack of planning for the peace murdered my oldest child. It has been two days since your dishonest campaign stole another election…but you all were way more subtle this time than in 2000, weren’t you? You hardly had to get the Supreme Court of the United States involved at all this week." Agreeing with me? What next?! Dogs and cats living together? :-) Posted by: Jonathan on August 9, 2005 01:22 AMRE: Cindy Sheehan, go ahead and laugh, but because it's on earlier than others, my husb & I frequently watch our local Fox Snooze Channel evening news (we have just rabbit ears). THEY (of all people) had a quick little snippet on their news last night, that she is protesting outside Bush's "ranch." (quotes are for you, Jo ;-D ) So it's out there for common public consumption. It's natural someone (like the Rep mentioned) would threaten her with the arrest; but let's all remain calm. These guys have lots of worldly power, but they don't have ALL the power, and it's one thing to whisk away Middle Easterners (in our white- and fear-based society); entirely another to whisk away the mother of a fallen soldier. Don't worry. She's got a group. She started it herself. And if you read any of the lone star iconoclast link above, there ARE others with her: Hiroshima survivors, Iraq Vets against the war, etc. Posted by: Lori on August 9, 2005 01:34 AMCrazy, but true: a woman in the grocery store had on a t-shirt with the following words (in LARGE letters): I (heart) Halliburton !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted by: Pat C on August 9, 2005 01:50 AM* ...We owe Cindy a great deal of gratitude for taking this powerful stance. For mos, now, natl support for the War in Iraq has been falling because of doubt & anguish from those families who believe deepest in serving their country thru the military. Unlike the war protests of the 1960s that began on college campuses & amongst soldiers returning from Vietnam, the anti-War movement of the 21st C has begun at the kitchen table. It is not a counter culture mvmt. Today's anti-War movement begins with the cries of families who believe deeply in military service, who have served for generations & who were proud of the good their children set out to do in Afghanistan/Iraq. This time, cries against [rez]'s policies in Iraq are rising up from kitchen tables in small towns across America. The power of this new protest mvmt will not be found in huge protests filled with nameless, faceless masses. The power of this new protest movement will be in the cries of patriotic parents whose belief in the military & whose love for their children is far more powerful than the empty phrases of a [rez] in hiding. http://www.frameshopisopen.com/ International (anti-war) Code Pink, "my" group, is also standing with Cindy. Mygoodness, Jonathan... when you're correct (imo), why then, you're correct. Nothin' personal. ;O) Posted by: JoannaOregon on August 9, 2005 02:15 AMSally, if Cindy was arrested, Especially without legal representation, I think it would jar a lot of people, she would become a martyr of sorts and there would be an big uprising in support of her. I know it seems unlikely at this point because of the large amount of passivity among us, and there is no guarantee, but something tells me that we need the Republicans to visibly (not undercover) do something outrageous enough, and that is all it will take. There is a protest planned for Sept 24 in DC as it is. It may just be a good thing if she were to be arrested but I think the Republicans are too saavy to put themselves in that position or to deprive her of counsel. I don't think people will forget about her. There are a lot of military families out there who feel the way she does and I think they would stand up. Posted by: JoannaOregon on August 9, 2005 02:22 AM...at least that is what I hope. And this time, I will join them. Posted by: Sharon on August 9, 2005 02:22 AMHummm, worth a read? This from Astrologer Steve Judd in England today: I note that in GW Bush’s chart there’s a Mercury/Pluto conjunction right where Mercury stands still over the coming ten days. I also note that Jupiter is about to pass on his Chiron/Moon conjunction. If I were advising him I’d be telling him to expect difficult news over the coming few weeks, possibly to do with family. I note his Blair-like ability to extricate himself from the mire, so I suspect that once again, things will happen in private, not to be seen by the outside. Saturn’s about to start knocking him hard for the coming nine months, and I think that Mars is starting this process now. Great time to start a five week holiday. But you can’t hide from Saturn. He’s not old father time for nothing, and the coming nine months will be the visible judge of whether he stands or falls. Final thought before going to press – Mercury/Pluto can be duplicitous, and being squared by Mars in the sky is accident prone or physical in other ways. If this is surgery, you heard it here first Posted by: Camille on August 9, 2005 02:23 AMHere are some links I got off DU on who is going to Crawford to join Cindy - some Gold Star families are already there (1st link) and Houston moms are on their way (2nd link).
