NEW THREAD ON A MECURY RETROGRADE
Jung, The Symbolic Life CW18, p. 571 The above quote is often at the bottom of Claudia Dikinis emails and it's a beautiful way of saying "mob mentality" and that seems to be what is going on in Washington and their friends around the country. I wasn't sure whether to put this on the front or back so the back won out. The site has been down at least all day and I've received numerous emails as to why. The last time this happened I explained the problems and I thought folks would remember that explanation. I don't know why I thought that because I forget explanations to issues as I drift into a fog of swirling interests. Anyway let me plainly state again: WHEN EVER THIS SITE GOES DOWN (unless I tell you it's going to be taken off)IT IS EITHER HACKERS OR PROBLEMS WITH HARD WORKING PEOPLE - POSITIVE FUSION AND MOVEABLE TYPE - AND THEIR SITES. IT IS NEVER DUE TO ANY POSTER. That said, I will tell you or request that you NOT publish full articles on this site as I could (1) run into copyright laws (2) it cuts down on available bandwidth and (3) some posts take up so much space that it fills up from top to bottom taking forever to get from top to bottom and become overwhelming. Please just put links and save the space for your observations or remarks (which are usually the most interesting anyway) It's ok to put snippets of an article with a link but keep the snippets to a paragraph. I have run into the issue of having to upgrade my Astroworld System. I won't pretend that this is a financially sound undertaking for me, but I will keep on as long as I can. Please remember, I would tell you if I was going to take Astroworld off the "air" so to speak. The page would not just go blank, not by my hand. I don't know how stable our "fix-its" might be, but I hope it will stay up for at least a bit. Thank you for your patience.

Roadside bomb kills 14 marines Michael Howard in Baghdad and Jamie Wilson in Washington Guardian America yesterday faced one of its most deadly days in Iraq since the start of the war when a massive roadside bomb killed 14 marines in an insurgent stronghold close to the Syrian border and news emerged of the murder of a US journalist in Basra. http://www.guardian.co.uk/print/0,3858,5254654-103550,00.html
US kept in the dark as secret nuclear deal was struck David Leigh Guardian Israel's acquisition of nuclear bombs has been one of the most sustained pieces of deceit in recent history. The project was guarded with such passion that in the 1980s the technician Mordechai Vanunu was kidnapped and spent 11 years in solitary confinement for blowing some of its secrets. http://www.guardian.co.uk/print/0,3858,5254606-103552,00.html Posted by: wv on August 4, 2005 03:21 AM
James Howard Kunstler Guardian The big yammer these days in the United States is to the effect that globalisation is here to stay: it's wonderful, get used to it. The chief cheerleader for this point of view is Thomas Friedman, columnist for the New York Times and author of The World Is Flat. The seemingly unanimous embrace of this idea in the power circles of America is a marvellous illustration of the madness of crowds, for nothing could be further from the truth than the idea that globalisation is now a permanent fixture of the human condition. http://www.guardian.co.uk/print/0,3858,5254590-103677,00.html Posted by: wv on August 4, 2005 03:26 AM
Three ways to make us all safer Ken Livingstone Guardian It is four weeks since bombers indiscriminately killed and maimed ordinary Londoners. Protecting London from terrorists requires the best possible policing - which, in turn, needs the greatest possible flow of information from all communities. It also demands that we shrink the pool of the alienated that bombers draw on by treating all communities as equal parts of British society - not only theoretically, but in reality. And it means withdrawing from Iraq. All are interrelated. http://www.guardian.co.uk/print/0,3858,5254595-117079,00.html Posted by: wv on August 4, 2005 03:29 AMHey all, SO GLAD to see the site up again....... I know I am not alone in feeling frustration and abandonment anxiety (or something like that) when I cannot get Astroworld. I am much relieved. I know I would survive without it, but I hate to imagine life without AW. I fully intend to comply with your request and have made a donation to help out and to show my immense gratitude. LONG LIVE ASTROWORLD (& Sally McDonald)! Posted by: Sharon on August 4, 2005 05:12 AMSharon, I am sending you a private note of gratitude and thanks, but I want everyone to know how much I appreciate your support when I am faced with increased costs for this site. I also want to tell everyone, whether they can contribute or not, that valuable contributions don't necessarily mean money even though we do need it at Astroworld. Valuable contributions come in the form or making this site valuable for the people who come here and the people that just follow and read the posts. Where would AW be without the intelligent discussions, and creative ideas, and easy to find links, we would NOT be. I would never want anyone to think that money is the only valuable contribution to make, because it isn't. I appreciate every word, every thought, every link and every dime. And I hope people remember that I would never ever take this site down without telling people. It would never happen. When this site is down it's because of circumstances way beyond my control and I scramble to get the assistance I need to get it back up. So not to worry. Posted by: shylurker on August 4, 2005 05:51 AMI am reporting in....tried to do it this morning when I finally had regained some emotional stability...but geezlouise, the last 4 days have been awfully intense. It started on Sunday and on Monday....and it felt as if I had entered a new world energetically....I was vibrating at a different rate, I think....a big step up in vibration patterns, it felt as if I had litterally walked thru a big transparent circle into a new way of seeing life. Or energy or both. Then tues at the monthly meeting of a group of flower essence practitioners (which I had missed most of over the last 8 months) I mentioned this, and lots of the people there, all healers, said the same thing had been felt by them, and then one of them said, oh, a new stargate opened up on Monday. (I quite honestly have no idea what this means other than the SCIFI channel model) And strangely, that is how the energy looked to me, like a big round opening... and I stepped in. Tuesday night, totally drained....Wednesday, totally drained. And when I came here, no Astroworld. Did anyone else go thru anything like this? Well, the dream of Jonathan's sounds like it could qualify! I cannot describe the world....but it is a higher vibration. Sally, you are without a doubt one of the coolest people in the world. I'm glad the site is ok. Judy, I read this this morning, and thought of you (and Morgana), given your current "vibes", it makes sense: "Expected Earthquake, Volcanic or Storm Activity by Stan Deyo The August 2 RED ALERT is the first of its kind I've ever made in the 9 years of studying seismic event indicators. It is so huge that I almost can't believe my eyes. The importance and severity of this has impressed me more significantly than when I predicted and warned about the coming December 26, 2004 Indonesian events beginning December 22. For the last 7 days, I've seen indications of a large number of earthquake pressures building across a 2,000-mile long arc in the North Pacific. At first, I thought these indications were a result of large storms so I disregarded them. Until August 2 when a listener (thanks Dan) heard my radio broadcast and emailed information to me, I wasn't able to explain the cause of this discovery." http://www.libertyforum.org/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=news_miscellaneous&Number=293850681#Post293850681 Posted by: Peg on August 4, 2005 01:19 PM

Peace Corps Option for Military Recruits Sparks Concerns Tuesday 02 August 2005 The US military, struggling to fill its voluntary ranks, is offering to allow recruits to meet part of their military obligations by serving in the Peace Corps, which has resisted any ties to the Defense Department or US intelligence agencies since its founding in 1961. The recruitment program has sparked debate and rising opposition among current and former Peace Corps officials. Some welcome it as a way to expand the cadre of idealistic volunteers created by President John F. Kennedy. But many say it could lead to suspicions abroad that the Peace Corps, which has 7,733 workers in 73 countries, is working together with the US armed forces. "Does this raise red flags for the Peace Corps community? I'd say yes - emphatically so," said Kevin Quigley, president of the National Peace Corps Association, an organization of returned volunteers, staff and supporters. "We think a real or perceived linkage between the Peace Corps and military service could damage the Peace Corps and potentially put the safety of Peace Corps volunteers at risk." http://www.truthout.org/docs_2005/printer_080405Y.shtml Posted by: wv on August 4, 2005 09:18 PMI feel sorry for his dog. We'll use the next trillion in 30. Energy will be one of the defining issues of this century. One thing is clear: the era of easy oil is over..." I rubbed my eyes and read on: "What we all do next will determine how well we meet the energy needs of the entire world in this century and beyond. Demand is soaring like never before. As populations grow and economies take off, millions in the developing world are enjoying the benefits of a lifestyle that requires increasing amounts of energy. In fact, some say that in 20 years the world will consume 40% more oil than it does today. At the same time, many of the world's oil and gas fields are maturing. And new energy discoveries are mainly occurring in places where resources are difficult to extract, physically, economically and even politically. When growing demand meets tighter supplies, the result is more competition for the same resources. "We can wait until a crisis forces us to do something. Or we can commit to working together, and start by asking the tough questions: How do we meet the energy needs of the developing world and those of industrialized nations? What role will renewables and alternative energies play? What is the best way to protect our environment? How do we accelerate our conservation efforts?..." More... Speech to the "Out of Iraq" Congressional Caucus on July 19, 2005 By John Bruhns Click here to watch Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, read this letter into the congressional record 08/03/05 "ICH" -- -- I am a concerned veteran of the Iraq War. I am not an expert on the vast and wide range of issues throughout the political spectrum, but I can offer some first hand experience of the war in Iraq through the eyes of a soldier. My view of the situation in Iraq will differ from what the American People are being told by the Bush Administration. The purpose of this message is to voice my concern that we were misled into war and continue to be misled about the situation! in Iraq every day. My opinions on this matter come from what I witnessed in Iraq personally. George Bush and his political advisors have been successful in presenting a false image to the American people that Saddam Hussein was an "imminent" threat to the security of the United States. We were told that there was overwhelming evidence that Saddam Hussein possessed a massive WMD program, and some members of the Bush Administration even hinted that Saddam may have been involved in the 9/11 attacks.

Associated Press FORT HOOD — Two young soldiers who served in the Iraq war have killed themselves in separate incidents in Killeen since the weekend, post officials said Wednesday. Sgt. Robert Decouteaux, 24, of Rosedale, N.Y., died Saturday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been airlifted from his home to a Temple hospital for emergency surgery, but he died while doctors tried to save his life. And on Monday morning, Spc. Robert Hunt, 22, of Houston, was found dead in his apartment by Killeen police, who were alerted after members of his unit tried to contact him when he failed to report to work. Carol Smith, a Killeen police spokeswoman, said Wednesday that Hunt's cause of death was listed as asphyxiation. Fort Hood spokesman Dan Hassett said Decouteaux served in Iraq from April 2003 to March 2004, and that he was scheduled to redeploy when the division returns to the war zone beginning this fall. Hunt, a radio operator-maintainer, joined the Army as a teenager in 2001 and had been assigned to Fort Hood since August 2003. He deployed to Iraq for a yearlong tour in March 2004 as part of the 1st Cavalry Division. U.K. Guardian By Mike Whitney 08/04/05 "ICH" -- -- Fourteen Marines will touch down at Dover Air Force Base tomorrow; their lives cut-short in a brutal war that has yet to produce a rationale. The architect of that war will be landing at nearly the same time at his vacation home in Crawford, Texas; resting up from the grueling task of sending other-mother's-sons to die for nothing. Where's the outrage? Of the 14 men who were killed, not one was named Bush, or Cheney or Rumsfeld. They were all just grunts doing their jobs; fighting for their country. Or, so they thought. Not one of them joined the fray to fight to defend the torture chambers at Guantanamo or Abu Ghraib. Not one of them fought to make Iraq safe for Halliburton, or Bechtel, or Exxon. Not one fought to increase domestic surveillance and intrusive big government like the Patriot Act. Not one fought to shift more of the nation's wealth into the pockets of the blood-sucking parasite class to which Bush belongs. Not one fought to ensure that Bush and his war-mongering cadres could continue to flatten whole cities, poison the water, devastate the economy, steal their oil, destroy their society, and kill and imprison their people. Not one. Every one of them fought and died because they loved their country and they trusted their leaders not to lie to them. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article9672.htm That's link!

My 4 year old granddaughter was diagnosed with asthma today, following the dna of her mother and her grandfather....at least my daughter will know how to handle it. Posted by: judi gemini on August 5, 2005 02:28 AMLori, I love your thoughts and I don't think you are wrong about this. Judi, it's a good sign that you aren't worried about your daughter, but what a plate load you have. This is a New Moon in Leo (hint, Morgana is going to post her New Moon article, (don't tell her I told you) Look to see what house the New Moon falls in your chart and make a list of what you want as it relates to that house. Say it falls in the 10th - career success, 6th work and health related wishes, and so on. Posted by: Sally on August 5, 2005 03:12 AMCybear, I feel a little funny asking because my situation is as serious like some but could you please add me (2/20/51)? I could use some positive energy and motivation - I have been struggling with organizing myself, my papers and possessions, my house and my career for way too long (Leo, 2nd house, but I think it's the Neptune that's been anesthesizing me and I also have Mars in Pisces). I married and moved to my husband's home, in another state (FL to LA) 2.5 years ago and it's been a big, big challenge for me to move forward. I do it in spurts but I feel things are moving in slow motion and I'm living in an Anne Rice novel! This has been a progressive ailment...I was like this before I moved too. Judi, what about adding your daughter, your grandaughter and maybe yourself. Thank you for your love & generosity, Cybear. Posted by: Sharon on August 5, 2005 03:31 AMProphetic comment from Vanity Fair for August.... . Imagine the impact it would have if 50 police or army recruits were wiped out over the course of a week in this country. Now imagine 50 dying every single week with no relief in sight and tell me the U.S. wouldn't be suffering a national nervous breakdown. But the Iraqi dead are discounted as the Price of Democracy. If Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice harbored any semblance of shame beneath their aluminum-foil Vulcan armor, they would fall to their knees to express sorrow and beg forgiveness from the Iraqi people, even though Cheney might need help rising to his feet again. But of course they never will. They will continue to brazen it out, abetted by a milquetoast Mr. Media. Thanks Sharon....doesn't it seem like the whole world needs it? It sure seems like it is whie light to everyone now.... Posted by: judi gemini on August 5, 2005 03:39 AMThanks Sally....for me it is my 10th house, for my daughter, the 12th/1st (15 Leo rising, Sun 17 leo) I will tell her also... Posted by: judi gemini on August 5, 2005 03:46 AMa word of caution, don't judge the wishes just write them down, don't say anything like "I'll never get that, I don't see how that can happen" just write them down and with Leo, the bigger the better. Everyone throw their shoulders back an live large. Posted by: Sally on August 5, 2005 03:58 AMSharon - I added you to the list. Judi Gemini - I'll be e-mailing you soon! For all that I put on the list - I usually do my distance work late at night every few days for a week or two at first, then little boosters now and then. Blessings to All! Posted by: Cybear on August 5, 2005 04:04 AMSharon, Thanks for the reminder Sally. As this new moon is in my 2nd house, I really needed to do this. * Robert Novak Suspended by CNN Veteran Wash journalist Robert Novak was suspended indefinitely by CNN today after he cursed on a show during a political discussion. ...During a heated discussion of the upcoming US Senate race in FL, Carville interrupted Novak as he attempted to finish a sentence. Novak responded by saying, "Just let me finish what I'm going to say, James. I know you hate to hear me." At that pt, Carville responded to both Novak & CNN anchor Ed Henry with, "he has to show these rt-wingers that he's got backbone ... show them you're tough." Novak then responded by saying, "I think that's bullshit & I hate that." Novak then said to Henry, "Just let it go." As Henry began to ask Carville a follow-up question about the Senate race, Novak stood up, unclipped his mic & walked off the set. Altho both Henry & Carville appeared uncomfortable, neither immediately acknowledged Novak's sudden departure until later in the show. ...Henry apologized to viewers & said he hoped to be able to question Novak in the future about his role in the leak of CIA agt Valerie Plame's ID. Henry said he told Novak before the show that he was going to ask him about the leak while on the air. Plame's name became public after Novak used it in a 2003 column. The disclosure of the CIA agt's ID has become the source of great controversy with allegations being made that a sr member of [rez regime] was responsible for the leak. ...CNN spokeswoman Edie Emery called Novak's behavior "inexcusable & unacceptable." ... http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/viewArticle.asp?articleID=1683 Pat QOP - I added you and Eric to the list. Hope all is going as well as it can with you. Blessings!
