The Spider's Web

Often, it is the stories we are told in childhood that imprint within our souls the values we carry for a lifetime. Biblical stories, mythology, fairy tales, and simple anecdotal tales out of the lives of those who have walked tall and heroically in our nation’s history all offer kernels of wisdom and guidance for us in our struggle with modern life. We all remember hearing how George Washington, the general who led us through the American Revolution and later became our first president, could never tell a lie, even when, as a child, he was caught chopping down that famous cherry tree. And Abraham Lincoln, the president who led us through the American Civil War, was affectionately known as “Honest Abe” for his scrupulous attention to honest dealings with the customers in the country store he managed as a young man. But times have changed, and instead of the heroic person of integrity and courage we long for in a president, we are faced with a Chief Executive so immersed in the lies and deceptions upon which his policies and decrees are based, that virtually nothing he says can be taken at face value or without some suspicion of its dishonest or manipulative underpinnings.

In fact, the Bush administration has moved governance to a whole new paradigm. In the way of sociopaths everywhere, the rules that restrain the rest of humanity are not seen as applying to the Bush administration, whether involving election law, prisoner’s rights, acknowledging the restraints of Congress on the executive branch, international law regarding war and war prisoners, or simply the treasonous act of outing a CIA agent. Instead, under the Bush Doctrine, a plan is determined and then reality and the rules are manipulated to make it happen. The administration decided to win the election and then manipulated the voting circumstances of the opposition and the voting machines to create a victory. They decided to deregulate the corporate polluters and then twisted the science to cover up the dangers. They announced that the air in Manhattan was clean after 9/11, and so it seemed, except for those who breathed it and developed chronic lung illnesses.

In order not to inconvenience corporate profits, the Bush administration continues to perpetrate the myth that global warming doesn’t exist, while climate changes eat away at our shorelines and our future. In order to justify an unnecessary war that enriched the defense and energy industries and attempted to expand America’s global power and control of world oil reserves, the administration manufactured the dire threat of weapons of mass destruction with bogus intelligence and forged memos, purposefully terrifying the American public. They even determined how they wanted to deal with their war prisoners and then made up a convoluted rationale that approved of torture and left “enemy combatants” outside the jurisdiction of both the American legal system and the Geneva Conventions. The list is endless.

The Bush Doctrine of reformatting reality to support a self-serving, power-hungry agenda is also seen in the treatment of administration critics. When someone cracks the administration’s façade and unveils the corruption underneath, a pernicious web of lies is immediately woven around the truth teller, attempting to transform him or her from a trusted public servant into a pariah of civilization, thereby demolishing his or her credibility. This was the plan for former Ambassador Joseph Wilson who published an article in the New York Times in the summer of 2003 revealing that the administration had purposefully deceived the American public about Iraq procuring nuclear material. The administration’s goal was to belittle and emasculate Wilson by saying that his wife, covert CIA agent Valerie Plame, had sent him on his fact-finding trip. It didn’t matter that the smear campaign was based on lies. It didn’t matter that Valerie Plame was a CIA agent and outing her compromised national security. What mattered was silencing Wilson and any other whistleblower who might speak of the administration’s treachery. As the Bush Doctrine of Deceit makes clear, the concept of fixing the facts and the intelligence around the policy, made famous in the Downing Street Memos, does not just describe how we got into Iraq. It describes how the Bush administration operates everywhere.

The author of this Mephistophelean approach to policy and politics is Karl Rove, although the malignancy has now spread to the entire Republican Party and the media sycophants who serve it. With the now-very-visible investigation into the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame, some of the underbelly of this pestilential blight on our government is being exposed. It remains to be seen if indictments will follow or how much this scandal/crime will ultimately harm the Bush administration. As seen through the lens of astrology, however, it does seem that the next several months will be difficult ones for Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, and George Bush.

Although we have no birth time for Karl Rove, limiting the precision of any predictions, his chart does suggest difficulties from roughly early 2005 through July 2006 and again from roughly September 2006 through mid-2009. During the first period, tertiary progressed Saturn has moved from its natal position (2 Libra) to square natal Mercury at 17 Capricorn in late 2004 and early 2005, conjunct tertiary progressed Sun at 18 Libra in July and early to mid-August 2005, and ultimately conjunct natal Neptune at 19 Libra, roughly from December 2005 through July 2006. This extended series of progressions involving Saturn suggests a time of increasing burden and difficulty for Rove, with his deceptions and dishonesty likely to be revealed, especially by the Saturn conjunction to Neptune (December 2005 through July 2006). Transiting Saturn will also be opposite his Mars during this period, most intensively in September 2005, January 2006, and June 2006, suggesting some further restrictions and frustrations. Moreover, the Pluto square to his Node in June and July 2005, which brought increasing scrutiny from the media, will be repeated from September through October 20, 2005, suggesting that the Rove-centered scandal may be particularly hot during these two months.

Although it seems that the dark cloud hanging over Rove may briefly dissipate somewhat in later July and August 2006, in September 2006 the transit of Saturn over Rove’s Pluto through May 2007, may indicate a significant curtailing of his power. In addition, the ongoing and intensifying progression of converse Saturn conjunct converse South Node (27Virgo47), which will peak in November 2008, will be strongly triggered by transiting Pluto (27 Sagittarius) square this conjunction during much of 2007. This implies problems derived from Rove’s penchant for negativity and criticism. It is possible that his signature character assassination techniques will backfire and cause him some trouble in 2007 or at least be under some severe restrictions.

The years 2007, 2008, and the first half of 2009 will also bring with them Rove’s progressed Sun quincunx his progressed Saturn (early to mid-2007 - 2008) and quincunx his natal Saturn (early to mid 2008 – 2009). These aspects will trigger the inherent difficulties in Rove’s natal Sun/Saturn square. This suggests that Rove will feel significant restrictions and burdens placed upon him and will not be as free to act on his darker impulses, nor as successful in doing so, up to and during the next presidential election cycle. He will score some successes, with Jupiter in Capricorn in 2008 and stationary on his Venus from August through early October 2008, but his powers are likely to be somewhat curtailed or ineffective due to the ongoing Saturn element.

Another name that has been coming up more in recent weeks is that of Vice President Dick Cheney whose chief of staff, Lewis “Scooter” Libby, has been mentioned as a possible source for the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame. Cheney’s chart suggests significant strain from late May through December 2005. Transiting Pluto is square to Cheney’s Moon from late May through October 2005, indicating emotional tensions and upsets that are kept tightly under control. In addition, Saturn will square his Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in September and then, from mid-October through mid-December 2005, will oppose his natal Sun, setting off the natal square between them. This suggests a three-month period, from September through mid-December, of increasingly heavy burden and difficulty in his work situation, as well as the possibility of exacerbated health issues that force him to limit his activities. Although the most difficult period is likely to be from September through mid-December 2005, the sense of something onerous weighing Cheney down will not let up until very early July 2006, similar to the time period suggested in Rove’s chart. Another stressful period for Cheney will begin in late October 2006 continuing through early January 2007, when the next Saturn station will oppose Cheney’s Mercury. Again, health problems, as well as other complications, are a distinct possibility at that time.

Interestingly, George Bush’s chart, much like Rove and Cheney’s, suggests severe stress from September 2005 through early July 2006, with difficulties reappearing around September 2006. In Bush’s case, significant strain continues at least through June 2007. Beginning in September 2005, transiting Saturn will cross Bush’s Ascendant, Mercury, and Pluto, suggesting tremendous pressure and difficulties that he can no longer avoid. This phase will end in early July 2006, suggesting that will be the end of some kind of struggle that the administration has undergone for over nine months. In the Inaugural chart the natal Neptune square the Ascendant is highlighted during this same period, with progressed Ascendant square to natal Neptune from May 2005 through January 2006, and solar arc progressed Ascendant square natal Neptune from August 2005 through August 2006. The Neptune/Ascendant element coming during this strong Saturn influence for Bush, Cheney, and Rove indicates that deceptions, scandals, and the negative consequences they engender may be a central theme during this time. It is, therefore, not unlikely that Treasongate, as Air America’s Randi Rhodes likes to call the Plame investigation, will go into high gear from September 2005 through early July 2006, with negative ramifications for the administration continuing thereafter.

The central theme of George Bush’s current White House term may be best described by the Chiron/Midheaven/Sun conjunction opposite Saturn in the Inaugural chart. This combination of planets suggests a “wound” (Chiron) that the administration experiences that weakens it and to some degree derails or compromises its goals, intentions, and reputation. At this moment, it appears that the ongoing disaster of the Iraq War, as well as the Rove/Plame scandal which focuses a lens on the deceptions that got us into that war, seem to comprise the wound that will increasingly plague this administration. Certainly, the incoherent ineptitude of the civilian leadership of the latest Gulf War and the lies and deceptions that created it are huge contributors to the hemorrhage of clout and credibility that have been streaming out of the Oval Office in an increasing torrent of late. The Inaugural progressed Midheaven conjunct natal Chiron, from December 2005 through December 2006, and the solar arc progressed Saturn conjunct Inaugural IC from February 2006 through February 2007, suggest that this “wound” will fully manifest during 2006. The recent, briefer aspects of transiting Saturn opposing natal Inaugural Chiron, transiting Chiron conjunct natal Inaugural Sun, and transiting Saturn opposite Inaugural Sun, successively from mid-June through July 2005, have given us a taste of what is to come.

Of the many challenges that face us in the 21st Century, all require decisive leadership, leadership with vision, integrity, and a willingness to face the difficult decisions that must be made with courage, rather than with an eye to political popularity and power. But no leadership exists in a vacuum. It is well worth considering, as we contemplate the extraordinary deceptions and incompetence of the Bush administration, how we got to this dark moment in our nation’s history. Increasingly, form has triumphed over substance in our media-drenched reality. We seem to choose our leaders based on their TV charisma and the competent delivery of their jokes rather than on their conceptualization of the nation’s ills and their willingness to meet those challenges. How often did we hear back in 2000 that people agreed with Al Gore on almost everything but found George Bush more appealing?

Even more important, and far more dangerous, is the loss of our own courage and willingness to stand up and face the nation’s problems. We will never have leadership that tells us the truth and inspires us to act with the fortitude and sacrifice that will be required, if we are not willing to hear what creating that future will demand of us. If we persist in allowing ourselves to be convinced by that we can have it all and give nothing - that we can drive our gas-guzzling SUV’s while we keep marauding for oil, that we can expand government services while paying less and less taxes, and that no matter what nefarious deeds are committed, it is all about democracy and freedom - then we will be responsible for the bleak future that unfolds. The leadership of a nation mirrors the soul of the electorate. When the electorate refuses to be infantilized and seduced by a web of lies and empty promises and becomes willing to face the challenges that a bright future demands, then bold, honest, and visionary leadership will appear that can move the nation forward.

A lot to digest here. Excellent, excellent work. Thank you, Nancy!

I posted this at the end of the last thread, but realized too late that I'd overlapped with the beginning of the new one. My apologies for the duplication.

I usually just lurk here, but something has come up and I'm hoping one of the very talented AW folks can provide some guidance. Please feel free to contact me directly rather than answering to the board in general, since I can only check the board once a day (no computer access at home.)

I have just had a performance review that utterly shattered me; I've been working SO hard, such long hours, taking on additional projects, etc. But it turns out that I'm perceived as angry by my boss, even though I've gotten feedback from two different counselors (one neuropsych, one MFC) that while my life circumstances could certainly generate some depressions, neither of them detected any anger. Neither did my psychic counselor.

Another part of this issue is that five years ago, I suffered a very severe concussion in a work-related accident. Despite therapy and the length of time it's been, I have not recovered my language ability (for reading comprehension or writing, which is a big part of my job) or my concentration - and our office is chaotic most of the time, which makes it very difficult for me to function.

It has been suggested that I look for another job at the University, or that I get re-evaluated by the workers' comp folks (and of course, lovely Ah-nold has eviscerated California's workers comp programs since this occurred) in hopes that I might get reclassified as a higher level of permanent disability.

If anyone has some input on how to handle this or how it will all shake out in the long run, I'd like to hear it. Birthdate is 10.10.47 at around 7:30 pm (I know my rising sign is 26 Taurus) in Visalia, California.

Thanks very much for any suggestions, and I apologize for using AW bandwith for a personal request - but I don't know where else to go and I trust all of you.

Baraka - You might want to try a 6x or a 6c of the homeopathic remedy Natrum Suph

http://www.homeoint.org/books/boericmm/n/nat-s.htm

I would suggest taking it twice a day for a few weeks and see if it helps any. It is a remedy for head injuries and the ill effects therefrom. chew up thepills away from food in an empty mouth.

As for your chart, you have just been through a couple of years of dificult Saturn transits and have a couple of years to go.The challenging times will be intermittant, not steady, but it won't be fully behind you til after July 2008. The worst may well have been October and November 2004 when Saturn stationed square your Venus.

You might also try taking gingo biloba since it increases the oxygen fow to the brain.

Nancy, I find myself getting restless and impatient as I wait for the next article and then suddenly it appears and it is always well worth the wait! Thank you so much for all you do. I know that these articles take a tremendous amount of research and thought. Sally, Morgana and Isabelle, include yourself when I say thank you and well done.

Is it too soon to be thinking about the mid-terms? Should we expect a knock-down drag-out? I was pleased to note that my district's freshman Congressman Emmanuel Cleaver seems to be voting as a Democrat and not as an "in-name-only."

"... That chain of reasoning died with the cold war, but nuclear danger lived on to produce new and possibly more dangerous illusions. The worst is that the spread of weapons of mass destruction and their associated technology and know-how can be stopped, or prevented in advance, by arms. Once that conclusion was accepted, mere hints of danger, wisps of fact and speculations became actionable, bomb-able. But if there is one thing in this world that cannot be bombed out of existence, it is an illusion. And illusions, when rigidly defended, breed encounters with the law. Thus did a mistaken revolution in nuclear policy, proceeding under the guise of the "war on terror," produce the lies that produced the war that produced the whistleblowing that produced the smears that produced the blown cover that produced the cover-up that produced the legal investigation that produced the political and legal crisis that now swirls around Karl Rove."

Mark, if their lips are moving you can be assured they are lying. They sent the shuttle up there to distract us, no doubt, and now it's in trouble--so much so that the Russians have offered to send up a rescue mission. They are wiggling and I, like you, become very fearful when they wiggle so much.

Nancy, another wonder emerges from your keyboard. Many thanks.

Happiest of birthdays Mike!

Nancy will you marry me?

Dear Baraka,

This too will pass. As Nancy said you are and will be having some difficult transits in your chart for the next several years.

They are from Saturn and Neptune. I experienced simultaneous transits from that pair in 1999 and 2000 so I feel like I can relate.

I always thought I was exceptionaly mentally tough, but before those transits were through I thought more than once about ending my own life. During that same period of time I taught myself to write computer programs (simple ones), wrote 8 of them and condensed them into 4. After that 2 year period it took about another year and six months before I felt strong enough to engage in debate or deal with disagreements with others, but mental toughness is a definite prerequisite for the job I have now and I have had it for almost 5 years.

During the next 2 years you will have many positive transits from Jupiter and combinations in your solar and demi-solar returns that will lock in and play out in your life as the returns progress.

This year in your solar return Jupiter is conjunct your natal venus and trine natal Uranus. This combination will be activated by all aspects of the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and the Moon to it in the coming year. Other returns have Mercury and Uranus stradling the MC, Moon trine Venus, Moon conjunct Jupiter both trine the Sun, and the Sun sextile Jupiter, so many positive indicators mixed with the difficult to help you through these times.

You are also in my prayers.

Pat C, WV, Jo, Teresa...not quite, just celebrating.. and now the party is here!!!

Thank you all for your comments. WV, you're a little high, I'm 39 (or 10 years younger than your lowest guess, pick one) but I'm in the DC area. You'll know me by my tin foil hat!!!

GREAT ARTICLE NANCY. MY BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT!!!(if I'm allowed to be a little narcissistic in the last 25 minutes of my birthday, LOL)

Bush will experience "severe stress" 9/05 through 7/06, yeah! No kidding. How would you like to move from the White House to a velcro studded ranch in Crawford TX where all you have to do is gros some dental floss! He's on a roller coaster ride to Hell without a safety belt! He's experiencing the worst screaming bummer of the last 50 years! He's done, stick a fork in him.

**********41! Approval, that's four tee one percent*********

Now that's some real bad news and it's not even September yet. He's so finished. Arnold S was the harbinger, Bush is the fulfillment.

AMF George, he hardly knew ye, and we're feeling pretty good aboug that minor benefit.

I don't know, Mike. I thought Taft here in Ohio would have already been run out of the Governor's mansion in Columbus by mobs of angry Ohioans with torches and pitchforks. His approval rating? An abysmal 19% -- the worst of ALL 50 state governors!

Mike,

Love your last comments about W. Happy, happy birthday!! (from an Aug 17 Leo). I have a bottle of Champagne on ice for when W breaks through to the 30s in his approval rating. Its now time to play the new guessing game that is fun for the entire family: "HOW LOW CAN HE GO??"

Couldn't get online due to a thunder storm but now that I'm here...

Baraka, I worked for a university for 20 yrs and they really protect their employees due to the Civil Rights Act & it's amendments. You might want to write a response to your evaluation and copy it to Human Resources for your personnel file if that's allowed (just something to explore). Whatever you do, do it with dignity and leave on your own terms, when the time is right and you have a better situation. Believe that you're going to get better, focus on it, try the remedies, maybe try something new that challenges you a bit where you can move at your own pace and even excel(I learned bridge in the last few years, it's good for the brain), eat lots of fresh foods, exercise, etc. Above all, don't give up on yourself and don't let the bastards get you down!!! You deserve better. I once had a situation like that in my university job. I was timid and a bit depressed when I started, worked with intimidating doctors, and my boss tended to blame everything on me, particularly his mistakes. I was still on probation so he was able to replace me but he kept me on to train the new person and give me time to find a position (my supervisor's idea). The first replacement looked great on paper but was suspected of theft. The second had class and was very organized, but couldn't spell. He ended up keeping me onboard but from then on, I kept accurate records, mentally and in writing, of everything so when he blamed me, I could set him straight. He grew to respect me and, after working together 13 years, we became good friends. He even became more humble and treated everyone better (I probably can't take all the credit but I think I had an influence on him). Believe in yourself and stand up for yourself, nicely, respectfully, firmly. I think that often good people ARE protected and can turn things around and triumph in the end.

Mike, Happy Belated B-Day. Wishing you Blessings, Love, Light & Laughter. I don't know about the Frank Capra connection but you're in good company ("Whoops, there goes another rubber tree plant! Kerplop!" - from Hole in the Head). BTW, thanks for posting that link, wv.

Nancy, thanks for the good news & the good article (and Sally, thank you, too, for that last article and the companion thread). It can't happen soon enough. A lot of it is up to us and anything we can do to help good people get elected (or run ourselves) we should. The energy bill is very disappointing. I don't think We the People are going to take this much longer and will shortly respond with a great deal of anger. I had to shake my head in wonder when I read in this article that people found *** more appealing than Gore. I know Gore was stuffy but c'mon, what is appealing about that man?!!!!

Insomnia again... but then hard to sleep when the Corporate Fascists in the Democratic Party are exposing themselves in the CAFTA goings-on...

Billmon has LOTS to say about it:

~snip~

..."I bet the spectacle of bribes being negotiated on the floor of the House of Representatives in wholesale lots, like pork bellies on the Chicago Board of Trade, would have astounded even Mark Twain -- the man who once argued that America has no native criminal class, except, of course, for congressmen. But if Twain was given an opportunity to observe some of the avaricious rednecks now running the pork futures pit, I think he would recognize the type. Twain's writings suggest a certain experience with the morals of slavetraders and horse thieves.

But while some of the CAFTA scam's perpetrators may be throwbacks to a more rustic era (DeLay's character could have been lifted directly out of the pages of Huckleberry Finn) this is corruption on a much grander scale -- an imperial scale. It almost calls for something like Gibbon's description of the late Roman Senators, lining up to accept the emperor's stipends while quibbling over the cost of feeding the legions guarding the frontiers.

Or better yet: the scene in I,Claudius where Caligula (the original Little Boots) turns his imperial palace into a brothel for a night and insists the Senators and their wives both attend -- the former as customers and the latter as the hired, um, hands.

But in that particular case, only half of the party guests got royally screwed, instead of the entire empire."

http://www.billmon.org/

Posted by: Jo on July 29, 2005 07:56 AM

Yeahhh, you heard me right! Those fascists could not have passed this CAFTA c#$% without the help of the other branch of corporate fascists, those in the Democratic Party... closely affiliated with the DLC...

Billmon is spot-on... corruption on the order of the Romans... carried out by what he refers to as the Dixipublicans... those fascists from Texas...

~snip~

..."This, even more than the hard evidence, is what feeds my suspicion that the Rovians have something wired -- or think they do. Whether it's the computerized voting machines (or the far less complex software inside the heads of the sleepwalking fools who use them) I don't know. But it suggests the pork party could get a lot wilder, and last quite a bit longer, before the money finally runs out.

Rome, after all, was enormously corrupt for centuries before it fell. Texas has been going at it for almost 180 years. There's no reason to think this particular gang of Texans can't keep it up (so to speak) for a few more years -- maybe even decades."

One of Billmon's finest...

Nancy, powerful, succinct writing. The message you offer (and have offered before) is that "we the people" must demand AND expect governance of a higher order. From this expectation will come a leader. I believe there many new converts to that progressive idealism. You can "feel" it, see it in the number of Bush support bumper stickers. They've declined significantly. There is always hope.

The USian is not a follower of Jesus Christ... it is a NAME-DROPPER while ignoring the DIRECTIVES of Jesus. That makes it a nation of HYPOCRITES and LIARS... not a xian nation... the group Jesus most critized & railed against.

* The Christian Paradox - How a ["faithful"] nation gets Jesus wrong

Only 40% of Americans can name more than 4 of the Ten Commandments, & a scant half can cite any of the 4 authors of the Gospels. 12% believe Joan of Arc was Noah’s wife. This failure to recall the specifics of our xian heritage may be further evidence of our nation’s educational decline, but it probably doesn’t matter all that much in spiritual or political terms. Here is a statistic that does matter: 3/4 of Americans believe the bible teaches that “God helps those who help themselves.” That is, 3 out of 4 Americans believe that this uber-American idea, a notion at the core of our current individualist politics & culture, which was in fact uttered by Ben Franklin, actually appears in Holy Scripture. The thing is, not only is Franklin’s wisdom not biblical; it’s counter-biblical. Few ideas cld be further from the gospel msg, with its radical summons to love of neighbor. On this essential matter, most Americans—-most American xians-—are simply wrong... con't http://www.harpers.org/ExcerptTheChristianParadox.html

I think the Democratic mantra now should be that the GOP no longer serves its American constituents. It serves the global corporations. Every GOP house member should be attacked on this issue using the CAFTA and the Medicare and other votes as proof.

Trudy, you're welcome.

Garry, thanks for the Ohio article; my husband grew up in Toledo; I'm sure he's happy to not be there now! My in-laws ("xian" repugs) visited for the past week, and told us how they thought the Toledo Blade is just out to get poor ole Noe, until they started hearing about his $1M homes, etc. "If the Blade doesn't like you, they'll destroy you." hahaha! My impression is that the Blade is a fairly good, investigative paper, and I said that.

Hey, everyone! Good news! Word on today's Today Show is that it doesn't matter whether Osama Bin Laden is caught or killed or not!* Turrism has spread and he's not controlling it all directly anymore! It's like a franchise, you know, kind of like McDonald's (a General actually said that). And since Porter Goss & the General KNOW he's in the mountains on the Afghan/Pakistani border, getting him is a sensitive issue, because it could cause hell to be raised in Pakistan, esp. for Musharraf (sp?) -- the General/Dictator-as-result-of-a-coup leader!

*not that he was ever "the guy" in the first place. Maybe THAT'S why getting him doesn't matter? Hmm... (Plus, isn't he a friend of the Bushtcher family?)

Baraka,
I got knocked out in a car accident in ’82 and had seven years of legal and health problems from it.
The most physical relief I got was from Sacrial-Cranial adjustments to my skull and face to move the bone plates back to where they belong. [Took care of a pinched nerve that was bothering the hearing in my left ear within three days!] I also found a Chinese medicine doc who was wonderful for bodywork.
Love and Light to you on your path.

Lori, please read the story on the link I posted at 2:46...apparently the Bin Ladens are not as friendly to the Bushes as they appear...

I passed the Billmon column along to everyone on my list, Jo. And, Garry, I passed your link on the bin laudin meeting just to 4 people as many are not ready to hear this, but I do believe it. It is just chilling. My heart is heavy but my consolation is that the next revolution is coming. With the extreme drought in the "bread and salad baskets of the country," food prices will go up, up, up, along with gasoline and oil, as the summers get hotter and the winters colder. Sometimes people have to be suffer enough to stand up and do something about it. That time will come. As will Texas's!!!! Saturn is a'coming. I hope that Texas has more than just it's sun in Leo. Israel has a few planets there, also, and trouble is obviously in store with the Gaza "pullouts." Have faith all and be prepared for a hurricane.

I'm beginning to think that the best strategy is to unite people is to speak about the greed of politicians and their corporate special interests. If we talk about that, instead of emphasizing so strongly the Democrats vs. Republicans, people will not feel personally attacked and so ready to defend their side. It's the Republicans who are in power now, but many Democrats have shown their true colors in the voting of late. I'm really beginning to agree with you, Sally & Jo. As my mom would say, "they all stink." But there are the exceptions and we must cherish those people like Boxer, Waxman, Conyers, Kuccinich, Dean, even Reid.

It's amazing to me, I'm astonished, I'm dumbfounded, how people (e.g., my mom-in-law and my aunt) can complain about the gov't being crooked or bad or fascist, but when you attach the name "Bush" to the problem, suddenly they disagree with you and/or are "at an age" where they don't need to get their blood pressure up over "political crap" and it's time to focus on their spiritual selves!

I know we go over this again and again, and definitely there are decent people under (probably) all political labels, but in general, I think it's deadly to attach to any label; I think one can screw you as easily and well (?!) as the other(s).

In line with what we're discussing, here is an important article as posted on DU - I know that I am starting to get roused again, as I was during the last election. I'm going to apportion some of my pennies to support candidates like Bernie Sander and fight political greed. I used to think the answer was support all Democrats so we could win back Congress, etc.. I'm beginning to think more that it's the candidate not the party. (Well, I've used up my share of space for the day)

Election 2006 & America's Populist Center by David Sirota

I have often argued that the terms "centrism" or "moderate" as used
inside the Washington Beltway are misnomers. These terms are used to
describe politicians who, while mainstream on social issues like
abortion, are far to the right of America on core economic issues.
The media and the moneyed interests, of course, loves to tell us that
this version of "centrism" is an effective way to win elections. They
also like to make anyone who doesn't subscribe to this faux version
of centrism is some sort of leftist extremist. Both claims are
deliberate lies.

Whenever anyone goes after groups like the Democratic Leadership
Council (DLC) for pushing corporate conservative policies far outside
of the mainstream of American public opinion, the response is "you are
wrongly urging Democrats to move farther to the LEFT." That is exactly
what the economic powers that be want you to think. They want
Americans to see the world as "left" vs. "right" instead of what
really drives American politics: Big Money vs. The Rest of Us.

The fact is, economic populism is neither left nor right - it is, in
fact, what centrism REALLY is in America, if centrism means being in
the mainstream of American public opinion. That populist center - not
some co-option of corporate conservatism - is what allows politicians
who employ it to bridge the manufactured partisan divide and win
elections. In fact, doing the opposite and trying to out-Republican
Republicans not only undermines the Democratic Party, but has proven
to be a surefire way to lose elections.

Did anyone see Hackett of District 2 in Ohio (a decades long Republican stronghold) and he is running for Rep. against a woman by the name of Schmidt. He was on Hardball last night and to say he is blunt would be putting it mildly. He just returned from Iraq as a soldier and what was once a slam dunk for the GOP is now up for grabs and they have put a ton of money into a real slime campaign. (BD, March 30, 1962 in Cleveland)

I do not understand why America is not enraged or when they will be enraged over what we are doing. Is it in the water (by the way buy water stocks if possible) why do we just let the lies, treason, theft, torture, in our name just continue? I don't get it, all the time Bush poll numbers keep flowing downward.

Nancy and others,

Can any of you look at Patrick Fitzgerald's birth data to see how his chart plays into the fate of the administration? (December 22, 1960, Brooklyn, NY) I've read on dailykos that there appear to be rumblings in both Washington and Chicago that his job as the special prosecutor on the Plame case and as the US Atty for Chicago may be in jeopardy. I was wondering if the astrological picture reflects that?

Posted by: gbs on July 29, 2005 06:36 PM

If you guys check out the prisonplanet site and read the piece, it will answer some questions about why CNN is reporting (although the link said file not found 404) that Bush will appoint Bolton to the UN in the vacation app't in August.

I've only got intuition to go on re 9/11. I'm not a scientist to argue about if the twin towers were blown up in addition to having planes flown into them. But intuition and the article from tomflocco detailing the financial background story on the bushcrimefamily leading up to 9/11, combined with the prisonplanet story on the bin ladens (from 1987) starts to do what I would call the underpainting of the portrait. You know, when you X-ray a 400 year old painting, you can see all the work the artist did before hand to get the thing painted.

Sally, Joanna, Lori etal.
Reporting from Brooklyn USA where I can see where our tax dollars are going to faith based initiatives. Was shopping around downtown Brooklyn yesterday a neighborhood that is mainly a Macy's, 99 Cent stores, non designer shops. Populated with mostly poorer NYC inner city citizens.
This whitebread group had two booths set up with red kitchen aprons with someting about Prayer and they were giving out pamphlets. Now ususally there are these Original Hebrew characters in weird robes and spouting some anti-white/jewish rhetoric or Al Farrakan's bow-tied goons handing out their cult's newspapers. They leave me alone and vice -versa since it makes my hair crawl to listen for more than 2 minutes. The whitebread with the stepford gleam in their eyes are new to me. Some young lady (who might have chosen a real school vacation instead of proslytising) approached me. Was not feeling friendly and asked if she was also willing to meet my guru if I was to meet her Jaysus. With a look of arrogance she said no. I asked if she was a fundamentalist (did not know what it meant when she said yes -dumbell) so I explained the Taliban and said she is an American Taliban. Then I asked if she was into *. Yes. I asked if she believed in him so much then sign up to go to Iraq. Said she she did not have to since she was in the lord's army. Told her that she was full of @#$^ and to shut up and sign up and get over her bs. Said that * is a dumbass and can't string two sentences together and that all of his Admin never went to war and they and she were a big bunch of hypocrites.

Brainwashed, promised the world is there's to be had without the effort of working. * and his minions just feed their lack of curiosity and open mindedness.

Paul Hackett, right, the Democratic candidate for Congress in
Ohio's 2nd District, with his wife, Suzi, at a rally last week.
The special election is slated for Aug. 2.

Dogfight in Ohio
A Marine who fought in Fallujah is trying to become the first Iraq war vet to serve in Congress -- and give Democrats hope that Ohio is not permanently lost.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
By Bill Frogameni

July 26, 2005 | Paul Hackett remembers being in Kuwait, waiting to be shipped home after a seven-month tour of duty in Ramadi and Fallujah, watching CNN America with his fellow Marines. What he saw enraged him. "All I saw on TV was Terri Schiavo," he says. "The federal government and the Florida state government came screeching to a halt to intervene into the private lives of this family during this tragic time ... Like that scene out of 'Network,' I felt like the guy who stood in the spotlight and said, 'I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore.'" Not long after he returned to Ohio, he decided to run for Congress.

Hackett, a 43-year-old personal injury lawyer and Marine Reserve major who volunteered for service in the Iraq war, has little prior political experience, only having served as a city councilman in a small town. But he's a contender in a special congressional election taking place in Ohio on Aug. 2 to fill the 2nd District seat vacated by Republican Rob Portman, who's now serving as the U.S. trade representative.

Hackett, a Democrat, is surely the underdog. The 2nd District, which includes Cincinnati, has been solidly conservative in a state that's thoroughly dominated by the GOP and that decided the 2004 election for President Bush. His better-funded opponent, Jean Schmidt, is well-connected and, as a former state representative, has a more extensive political résumé. But Hackett hopes his credentials -- Iraq war vet and plain-spoken self-described moderate -- will give him a much-needed edge.

Hackett hopes he's part of a seismic political shift happening in Ohio -- a shift driven in part by recent outrage against Ohio Republicans over a high-profile, multimillion-dollar accounting scandal that has cast a cloud over the state party and may find its first political fallout victim in Schmidt, the first major Republican candidate to face the voters since the scandal broke.

A victory for Schmidt would mean continued Republican dominance in this district that voted 65 percent in favor of Bush last November. If Hackett wins, however, it would make him the first Iraq war veteran in Congress -- and would also give Democrats hope that Ohio has not gone completely and irreversibly to the GOP.

On the issues, the candidates both describe themselves as fiscal conservatives, but on the Iraq war and the so-called moral values questions, they stand in stark relief. Hackett is a critic of Bush's Iraq war policy and believes America was led to war unnecessarily. Schmidt is a strong backer of Bush's handling of the war. Hackett is pro-choice. Schmidt is president of Cincinnati Right to Life. Schmidt voted against gay marriage in the Ohio House of Representatives, while Hackett's take is: "Gay marriage -- who the hell cares?"

Hackett, who is married, says he doesn't feel the need to defend his marriage through the national Defense of Marriage Act, or any other anti-gay marriage legislation. "If you're gay you're gay -- more power to you," he said. "What you want is to be treated fairly by the law and any American who doesn't think that should be the case is, frankly, un-American."

Hackett's left-of-center views on social issues may not go over well with conservative Ohioans, and Schmidt is so far beating him financially, but last week Hackett got a profile boost when former Democratic Sen. Max Cleland campaigned with him. By bringing in Cleland and highlighting his military service, Hackett hopes to neutralize any criticism Schmidt could levy concerning his stance on the war.

Schmidt commends Hackett for his service, but believes Hackett should "stand with the president" by "supporting the Iraqi war effort and our troops that are over there," her campaign manager Joe Braun said. (Through Braun, Schmidt declined to speak with Salon.) When asked to answer that charge, Hackett is blunt: "The only way I know how to support the troops is by going over there." He doesn't hesitate to criticize Schmidt's support of the war: "All the chicken hawks back here who said, 'Oh, Iraq is talking bad about us. They're going to threaten us' -- look, if you really believe that, you leave your wife and three kids and go sign up for the Army or Marines and go over there and fight. Otherwise, shut your mouth."

In spite of her endorsement from the NRA, Hackett steals some of Schmidt's thunder when it comes to guns. Hackett says he's an NRA member and, when asked about gun control, he answers with an old saw: "Gun control is when you point your gun and hit what you aim for." Local pundits have noted Hackett's macho appeal to the crossover voter (his time in the Marines, his 6-foot-4-inch frame, his blunt talk), and Hackett acknowledges this appeal is further enhanced by his hands-on appreciation for hunting and gun culture.

With only a week to go before the election, it's hard to gauge the state of the horse race. Given his limited financial resources, Hackett says he decided not to commission any polls. Braun says the Schmidt camp has done "tracking" but declined to release any specific numbers. Braun does, however, see Hackett as a legitimate contender.

And recent ethical questions surrounding Schmidt's campaign may work in Hackett's favor. Among other things, Schmidt had to pay back $644 for a gift she took last fall from a lobbyist but failed to report as required by law. The lobbyist worked on behalf of the Chiron Corp., which was at the center of last winter's flu vaccine controversy. Schmidt enjoyed a free dinner and then a free Cincinnati Bengals game courtesy of the lobbyist, but claimed she didn't know the gift came from the lobbyist. Rather, she has said, she thought the tickets came from former Bengals quarterback "Boomer" Esiason.

Then there's the $10,000 that Schmidt's campaign accepted from one of Tom DeLay's political action committees. Hackett criticized Schmidt for taking DeLay's money. "Tom DeLay," says Hackett, "is the poster child for corruption in Washington." Braun dismisses Hackett's criticism as political opportunism and says, if the situation were reversed, Hackett would take $10,000 from the Democratic leadership.

Finally, a Cincinnati paper ran a report last week suggesting that Fritz Wenzel, Schmidt's media manager, was working for her campaign while simultaneously working as the top political reporter and columnist at the Blade, Toledo's news daily and a major Ohio paper. Wenzel's last day at the Blade was Friday, May 13. Two weeks before he left to become a political consultant, according to the report, Wenzel made scathing comments about Schmidt's Republican primary opponents on a personal blog he maintained. The blog entries have since been pulled off the Web, and reports filed with the Federal Election Commission show that Wenzel's company, Wenzel Strategies, was paid $30,000 on Monday, May 16, by the Schmidt campaign.

May 16 was also the day his last column ran in the Blade, but Wenzel made public his plans to start a consulting business weeks prior to that. Braun praises Wenzel's work and denies Wenzel was working for Schmidt inappropriately. Wenzel and Braun both claim Wenzel drummed up the work for Schmidt over the weekend after he left the Blade. "I had a busy weekend," Wenzel reportedly told the Cincinnati paper. Hackett doesn't buy this explanation. "It's more of the same," he says, lumping this alleged ethical lapse in with the others. "If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck."

It's unclear how damaging any of these ethical questions will be for Schmidt as the campaign hits its home stretch.

At present, both campaigns say they're going full bore. Braun feels Schmidt's chances are good, but confines himself to saying, "We're working hard." As for Hackett, he knows he's got an uphill challenge, but says he's ready. "There's nothing about this election that can faze me," he says. "After Iraq, everything seems like a walk in the park."

bhakti, I just love reading your posts. So feisty! aka "direct and straightforward and honest." If I were with you, I would laugh out loud as you spoke with those people! Love it!

Prior to arrival, Mom-in-law asked my husb. to look for a church for them to attend while here. He didn't (but later suggested a couple he's aware of). When she realized he/we weren't going with them to church, she asked him: "Don't you feel guilty when you don't go to church?" (no.)

He told me that story and I threw out this hypothetical reply: "no, I'd feel guilty being a hypocrite. I don't remember what Jaysus said about them, but I know it was really bad."

Wonder if that kind of statement would have any effect on your Stepford Wahoos? (I mean, since they all are, ignoring everything JC said while invoking his name.)

Americans losing in Iraq and Lebanon is on brink of civil war

By George Galloway

07/29/05 "Al Bawaba" -- -- British MP (member of parliament) George Galloway told Al Bawaba on Wednesday that the Americans are losing the war in Iraq as he also warned that the forerunners of a civil war are peeking in on Lebanon.

He also called on the Lebanese opposition not to transform Lebanon into “a knife in Syria’s back". Galloway also criticized British Premier Tony Blair vehemently for denying the connection between his country’s participation in the invasion of Iraq and the London explosions.

Galloway, who arrived in Amman on a leg of his Middle East tour, said “the Americans are losing the war,” pointing out that the losses they incurred in Iraq since the invasion in April 2003 are approaching the size of their losses during the same period of time during the Vietnam war.

Galloway said that the American army’s announcement yesterday of the death of four of their soldiers in an explosion west of Baghdad brought the total number of deaths to nearly two thousand. Additionally, about ten times that number has been wounded - 10 percent of whom are permanently amputated and/or disabled.

Number two she is a wordophile and one of the most articulate persons I've ever read... very passionate... and when she gets riled, she cusses like a sailor... and she is riled! She has a few words on the present situation with elected Democrats... give her a whirl...

Bhakti,
Love your rant!!!!!
I took on a teacher from N. Jersey today! More of a persuasive arguement, than rant.
SHE SHOULD KNOW BETTER!
Columbia Graduate, well traveled, Jewish, has holocost survivor friends..........CLUELESS! At first she said she didn't discuss politics....but I managed to engage her attention....she listened for a bit and parted with a tentative agreement to discuss again. I hope I get the chance to talk before the summer is over...she's a bright woman!
( Got chastized gently for not remaining neutral in the library)

State rejects e-voting system
Counties scramble to replace Diebold machines
By Ian Hoffman, STAFF WRITER

After possibly the most extensive testing ever on a voting system, California has rejected Diebold's flagship electronic voting machine because of printer jams and screen freezes, sending local elections officials scrambling for other means of voting.
"There was a failure rate of about 10 percent, and that's not good enough for the voters of California and not good enough for me," said Secretary of State Bruce McPherson.

Has anyone worked up a chart to see if Bolton will be appointed to the U.N. next week? Looks like Smirky is going to make another bad decision and get away with it like everything else.

FOUR YEARS?

Coroner to Release Control of Sept. 11 Crash Site in Pa.

The Associated Press Published: Jul 29, 2005

SHANKSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - The abandoned strip mine where United Flight 93 crashed nearly four years ago on Sept. 11, 2001 will be returned to the control of its owners when the county coroner releases the area as a death scene on Monday.

Somerset County Coroner Wallace Miller and volunteers made a final sweep of the property this week, turning up human remains too small and weather-worn for identification. Airplane debris was also found near downed evergreens.

"The volume (of materials found) has dropped off considerably, to the point that I now feel it's appropriate to close my involvement in the case," Miller said.

Hijackers crashed Flight 93 just outside Shanksville, about 65 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, as passengers tried to take control of the cockpit, according to the 9/11 Commission report. Forty passengers and crew members died.

The National Park Service is to take over the area for a permanent memorial. Its design is to be selected by Sept. 11.

Bush has Uranus opposite he Mars right now and is apt to do what ever he wants and not care about the results. Unilateral, against the tide of what would be considered normal. This is why I think he will go ahead and appoint Bolton.

But expect Bolton to create an international incident of some kind (totally predictable) with his temper and control issues. Pluto will be conjunct his Mars starting in December for a year. Maybe he has orders to get us kicked out of the UN.

Josh Marshall at talkingpointsmemo.com just linked to an AP article which says Smirky will indeed appoint Revoltin' Bolton. Barf.

The Constitution states:

"...The President shall have power to fill up all vacancies that may happen during the recess of the Senate, by granting commissions which shall expire at the end of their next session."

Article Two Section Two

I don't read this as saying the President may circumvent the Senate. I read "vacancies that may happen during the recess of the Senate" ---
the vacancy did not occur DURING THE RECESS... in fact, the Senate has been notified prior to the recess and it is the Republicans who are not bringing the nomination forward for a vote, because they do not have the votes. (imho)

If Bush appoints Bolton, it will be an illegal appointment, imo. Of course, it would not be the first illegal act of this resident. Nevertheless, the People have the right to voice opposition to such an action. I for one would drive to NYC in the fall to stand outside the UN and oppose the seating of Bolton as US Ambassador.

Posted by: Jo on July 30, 2005 04:53 AM

Nancy - I agree with you about a Bolton International incident. It would further their cause in some sick and twisted way. The cancer spreads.

Jo - We all know by now that nothing this admin does is legal. What gets me is how they are getting away with it? Are they that powerful? Why will no one stand up to them or come out of the woodwork and expose the disease?

Posted by: Cybear on July 30, 2005 05:29 AM

They're only as powerful as people give them the power to be, Cybear. As more and more people slowly wake up to this fact, their power will continue to wane. Eventually, the people will realize that they have been had all along, and the entire regime will be brought crashing down.

Peak Oil Production and decline is going to play a big part in the fall of the Corporatist/Fascist element in this country. The Machine, for all of its' ambition and intent to rule the world, was built to run on oil. What happens when the Oil runs out? The Machine grinds to a halt, and their wicked plans for global conquest come crashing down to a permanent halt. But even before that may come to pass, I think the people are going to get fed up with paying $4 or $5 per gallon for gas.

JoannaOregon,

Texas may have been incorporated as a state in the Union while the Sun was in Capricorn, but it actually began as an independent Republic.

From Wikipedia:

The first declaration of independence for modern Texas, by both Anglo-Texian settlers and local Tejanos, was signed in Goliad on December 20, 1835. The Texas Declaration of Independence was enacted at Washington-on-the-Brazos on March 2, 1836, effectively creating the Republic of Texas.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Republic_of_Texas

It at least would seem to explain the origin of "Texas Nationalism" which very often supercedes American Nationalism. Texas was an independent country first before joining America, with its' own designs on expanding out to the Pacific coast. Don't you almost wonder how that might have turned out?

Hmmm... I'm not quite sure where that state's oft-perceived Sun Leo energy comes from.

One more -- big news -- Enter: Planet Xena?

(-- And I don't know where Astronomers get the idea that Pluto isn't a planet. It certainly packs as big of a punch as anything else in the heavens!)

Planet or Not, Pluto Now Has Far-Out Rival
By KENNETH CHANG and DENNIS OVERBYE
Published: July 30, 2005
Add a tenth planet to the solar system - or possibly subtract one.

Astronomers announced yesterday that they had found a lump of rock and ice that was larger than Pluto and the farthest known object in the solar system. The discovery will probably rekindle debate over the definition of "planet" and whether Pluto still merits the designation.

The new object - as yet unnamed, but temporarily known as 2003 UB313 - is now 9 billion miles away from the Sun, or 97 times as far away as Earth and about three times Pluto's current distance from the Sun. Its 560-year elliptical orbit brings it as close as 3.3 billion miles. Pluto's orbit ranges from 2.7 billion miles to 4.6 billion.

The astronomers do not have an exact size for the new planet, but its brightness and distance tell them that it is larger than Pluto, the smallest of the nine known planets....

***

The discovery was made Jan. 8 at Palomar Observatory in California. (Michael E. Brown, a professor of planetary astronomy at the California Institute of Technology) and the other members of the team - Chadwick A. Trujillo of the Gemini Observatory in Hawaii and David L. Rabinowitz of Yale University- then found that they had, unknowingly, taken images of the planet, using the observatory's 48-inch telescope, as far back as 2003....

***

Informally, the astronomers have been calling it Xena after the television series about a Greek warrior princess, which was popular when the astronomers began their systematic sweep of the sky in 2000Informally, the astronomers have been calling it Xena after the television series about a Greek warrior princess, which was popular when the astronomers began their systematic sweep of the sky in 2000....

I offer no remedy... we each must find our own. I note that you have chosen the Queen of Pentacles as your 'signature' and 'Indicator'...

The Queen of Cups speaks to me... when I am having difficulties and lack clarity, I look at the negative reading for this particular Trump. I did the same for your indicator a few minutes ago, and your post above is expressing the 'negative' of your trump. For me, personally, the negative arises when I am off-center, overwhelmed --- losing focus. Looking back through my journals I find that the times I was most depressed, most powerless --- was when I experienced the greatest spiritual growth, insight. It's as though the universe has to stop me from 'whirling' (worlding) before it can get my attention... only then, because I am too sick or too sad, can I focus on what the lesson is...

My Mom passed in 2002, six months after 9/11... I was overwhelmed with caring for the grands --- my son-in-law had lost his job, they lost their apartment... were living with us and I was trying to care for my Mom long distance... she was living with my sister who operated a daycare and was homebound. I quit work two years earlier because of the time required to take my Mom to chemo. There were days I didn't wash my face! I was controlled completely by events of my little world and the larger world. I couldn't do it alone. I talked to my Mom's doctor, told him we needed Hospice (which we got a year ahead), and I talked with my family and neighbor... I talked to the grands about 'team effort' and how we had to pull together...

Pat, looking back I don't know how I got through those years. But I could not have made it if I had known what each day, each week was bringing. I could only deal with it one day at a time. If that sounds trite, it may be, but it worked. Strangely enough the difficulties demonstrated to me that I had to look out for myself (something I had never done), that I could not give to others if I was without.

Eric has family, in addition to you. Pull them in. Ask for help...

White light to you and Eric. Namaste

Jo,
I'm going backwards from you. I started looking out for myself at age 12 when I felt insecure enough within my own (well to do) family to start a little business to make my own money!
How many children that age KNOW they are going to be alone for the rest of their lives, and need to take care of things for themselves???????Since then I've always saved a little cache somewhere, somehow, until GHWBushs recession 1990......
If I had ANY RESOURCES AT ALL I would plan to come to S C for the winter. I don't think I can face a 10 month dark cold winter confined to my shabby inadequate too small house! Impossible dream!
QOP because when she came up in a reading, I always got a job.
An art job utilizing my talents, not a dumb min. wage job like I've had for the last 14 years!!
QOP because I;'m about my work & my talent, I used to combine that with spirituality, but, my nurturing qualities have been used up I'm running on empty. My increased spritual, persona in the 70's & 80's has been flattened by the evil greedy ones, along with my entire spiritual group of friends!
The family IS helping! My son in law is going to pay for my car repairs, my cousin sent 2 sprint phone cards, her sister sent money for house cleaning ( went for the last car repairs, while I was trying to get the time to organize & throw out a lot of stuff! before I had a cleaning person come in.) My Brother & his wife will be here Mon or Tues. MY Dad is the one who is needed but he's been gone since 1981
BUT my daughter can't teach yoga at Omega in August, because he wants her there when he comes home for the weekends. ( I was going to go over & take the children while she did that!)
Human Beings are funny...............if you have cancer they can't do enough; but if you have cancer of the bank account, being eaten away by the rotting miserable capitalists..........they turn away emvbarrassed, muttering under their breath, 'it's your fault, you spent unwisley, made bad decisions".........."Well you CHOSE to be an artist, every body knows you can't make a living being an artist!"
Ye right! Norman Rockwell was living a pretty decent middle class life stlye, as an artist when I went to artschool!
Well I've done my rant now I;ll go fold the laundry & mow the grass, & start painting the sign job I have...............

Put yourself in that special protected space of love that exists between you & Eric and include others in it. This is a special time for the two of you. Hold him both tightly and loosely. It is a time to hold on and remember, and a time to trust and let go. Most of all, be in the moment, not the past or future. It's all about love. Regarding the new planet, I hope they come up with a better name than Xena. We need something with some mythological reality that connects back to the meaning of the planet. Will this be the ruler of Virgo, or will it be the ruler of Libra, leaving Taurus for Venus. I have a hard time seeing Virgo connected to a warrior princess.

Lots of predictions for August to be hot politically, mundanely... even Darth Vader sez his administration has ordered plans for possibly nuking Iran after a terrorist act on American soil. Does Cheney have a crystal ball? Or, maybe he doesn't need one... what comforting messages he sends!

Morning of 9/11/2001 'terrorist' drills were being conducted. Morning of 7/7/2005 a terrorist drill was being conducted in London.

N.C. sites to be part of summer terrorism drill

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

SHALLOTTE - The largest terrorism drill in North Carolina history is being planned for August and will include a mock attack on the Sunny Point Military Ocean Terminal in Brunswick County.

Officials said Wednesday the drill will stretch from Fort Bragg to Morehead City in the state's central coast area to Brunswick County on the southeastern coast.

Emergency and law-enforcement units from Virginia to South Carolina have been invited to participate, as have those from the seven counties that surround Fort Bragg. Participation by military personnel and equipment will hinge on their availability.

The exercise is thought to be the first to test the new National Response Plan that takes effect next month and requires coordination among local, state and federal officials in terrorism and emergency response.

Roberts Had Larger 2000 Recount Role
The Miami Herald
Wednesday 27 July 2005

The role of US Supreme Court nominee John Roberts in the 2000 election aftermath in Florida was larger than has been reported. Roberts helped prepare the Supreme Court case.

snip....

While working on the recount, neither Roberts nor any of the other attorneys squabbled. They were too focused, Cruz said - and too worried about what they say were the Democrats' efforts to subvert the voting process through recounts divining voters' wishes on pregnant, hanging and dimpled chads.

"To a person, the Republican lawyers were horrified at what was going on . . . the effort [by Democrats] to, in effect, steal the elections," Cruz said.

About 30 of the 400 Republican lawyers in the election fight were based in Tallahassee, though Washington lawyers such as Olson and Roberts left for home by the end of November and remained in contact with Tallahassee lawyers by e-mail, phone and fax.

Ginsberg, who met with Cruz just after the election to hire the dream team of lawyers, didn't clearly remember Roberts, noting that the number of attorneys made it tough to keep track of everyone.

The Republicans assigned lawyers to one of five teams: the US Supreme Court, the Florida Supreme Court, local county litigation, trial attorneys and military affairs. Though apparently on the federal team, Roberts' name appears on no legal briefs, a fact that Cruz attributes to Roberts' modesty.

"He already had a name. He didn't need the recognition," Cruz said. Plus, Cruz said, the lawsuit-a-day atmosphere was like "a building on fire. Everyone just grabbed a bucket."

Carter Blasts Guantanamo Detention Camp

Former President Jimmy Carter on Saturday said the detention of terror suspects at the Guantanamo Bay Naval base was an embarrassment and had given extremists an excuse to attack the United States.

Speaking at the Baptist World Alliance's centenary conference in Birmingham, central England, Carter also criticized the U.S.-led war in Iraq and said it was ``unnecessary and unjust.''

``I think what's going on in Guantanamo Bay and other places is a disgrace to the U.S.A.,'' he told a news conference. ``I wouldn't say it's the cause of terrorism, but it has given impetus and excuses to potential terrorists to lash out at our country and justify their despicable acts.''

Carter said, however, that terrorist acts could not be justified, and that while Guantanamo ``may be an aggravating factor ... it's not the basis of terrorism.''

PatQOP,
My heart goes out to you. I have been reading your posts and have been empathizing for a good long time. I wish we all had effective magic wands to banish your suffering. I sense that the "chop wood, carry water" method of theraphy is wearing thin on your psyche these days..., and you probably feel more like Sisaphys (sp.?)these days, frustration after frustration. And I sense you asking, "What does it all mean?" Frankly, I haven't a clue. I just know that the people who write into this site are extraordinarily talented searchers who posit that there must be some meaning "out there, and in here," or else they wouldn't use an astrological web site.

I think that when one's child is ill, it is as if one's very protoplasm is assulted. And to be without sufficient funds to cushion blow after blow is more than mind boggling.

I have a hard time linking events to "karma," and prefer to say, "Shit happens." And if there is a karmic path, then I really want to believe that is can be filled with as much grace as horror. Furthermore, I have been really disgusted by the inane attempts of many astrologers I have met to try to see into the workings of karma. A litte superficial and glib...and certainly formulaic.

Emotional reaction patterns which dictate our behavior...built up over time...maybe something in that...but after that, I get confused and skeptical.

Much white light to you.

Raj,

Hoping for Cheney and the NeoCons to abandon their conquest of the Mideast and the World, is to expect logic and sound reason where none can be found.

These people are ridiculously delusional, and through their recklessness they pose a very grave threat to the future of human civilization and even life itself upon our Earth. Certainly America has been brought to the brink of ruin by "Neocon's disease". I don't know what it will take to bring them down. Maybe a few brave souls between the Military and the CIA? Or else (and far better)-- a mob of millions marching to the White House demanding the Bush regime's ouster.

Whatever it takes, when you think about it, really doesn't have to be all that much. Cheney and his ilk are neither invincible nor immortal. At the end of the day, they really are just pathetic, cowardly, small men who have managed to entrench themselves very tightly into a power they probably never believed that they would actually attain. However, the depth of their resulting paranoia and insecurity is revealed by their actions, actions which project their worst fears out into the world while keeping people from seeing too much of their own vulnerabilities.

Bruce Wayne's father in the "Batman Begins" movie may have had the best advice for our times: "Don't be afraid."

I have also suffered with a sick child for many years. I can speak to the pain that only a parent of a loved child can know. I have also known many economic levels throughout my lifetime...from wealth to cashing in coke bottles for food, and everything in between. It has been my experience to embrace, all of it.

Pat, I know, on some level. I can not be you, but I can know from my own experience.

I have come to a place through all of this, to say to myself, "What do you want?". I know my child has a higher power and a path on which she must walk for herself. She has a destiny, as do I.

My favorite song is Row Row Row Your Boat.

Row row row your boat,
Gently down the stream.

Merrily merrily merrily merrily,
Life is but a dream.

I sing it when I most need to remember, and I ask myself, "What do you want?", and prepare to release what I have known. It's not easy.

I don't know if this is helpful to you, but I would like it to be, because you are loved. I want you to have all the help you want, and need. Blessings to you Pat and to your son during all the times you seek them, and even when you don't.

John,

I am implying that necons misadventure will not
succeed just like the Iraqi invasion has them mud
all over their face. But nothing is going to
prevent the brainless neocon thugs from starting
another mis adventure in Iran, afterall the neocons are not on the front, it is the gullible
brainwashed people who are losing their lives for
the neocons' sake. But then even misadventures have their LIMITS and hopefully the brainwashed will finally be unbrainwashed and realize they
had been scammed and conned and will not take it
any more and slam these neocons, or impeach them
or may be guillotine them like in the French revolution. There is a LIMIT for any misadventure.

Shylurker, I posted Hackett's birthdata at the top of this article, about 4 or 5 down. I know for myself, I have found that I save a lot of time by looking at previous threads that might have information I am looking for.

Hackett does not have a great chart here for winning something like a GOP stronghold. He does have the mess in Ohio and Taft's corruption going for him, but the one thing that he does have is the amount of Pisces in his chart. His Mars is in Pisces (ruler of his Aries Sun) and in his Draconic chart Jupiter (ancient ruler of Pisces and the ancient rulers are usually more accurate in predictive work) is at 14 Libra, on the 2nd of Aug. transiting Jupiter will be at 14 Libra, giving him an edge. However Mercury retrograde would mean Jean Schmidt will or could fight this tooth and nail or there will be problems with voting machines (surprise)and the election might not be decided on the 2nd.

As to Fitzgerald, his Moon conjuncts George's Sun, that is a very powerful and equal appreciation aspect. I figure they either are or could be friends for a short period of time due to the oppositions of their Saturn's

His Saturn conjuncts the US Pluto and opposes George's Saturn (two ships passing in the night)

Fitz's Pluto conj. Bush Mars (seperating conjunction) and transiting Uranus is opposing them both, Pluto trumps Mars and it probably wouldn't be the greatest move for Bush to fire Fitzgerald however, this group is out of control and so far there has not been anyone with enough power to stop him. Fitzgerald does not have the power to do so, not in this Alice in Wonderland world we find ourselves.

Not Congress, not the courts, not anyone has been able to stop this group. They do what they want and no one has the power to do anything about it and they know it.

Former US Sen tells Chicago tribune that WH may dump Fitzgerald as both Assistant AG and as SP in October. Supposedly it is up to Hasturt (uggh!) I am hoping that this is pre-emptive attack by the Democrats designed to prevent the WH from pulling an Archibald Cox, however if the WH chooses to get rid of Fitzgerald, there wont be much in the way of consequences since they control Congress and the Press.

Jo,

My birthday is coming up August 17th. After reading the links you provided I'm doubly certain it will be a VERY interesting time indeed!!

I got really suspicious re the first London bombing when ultra creepy Rudy Giulliani surfaced from some hole in London immediately after the event, looking particularly vampirish, kind of resembling a very malevolent cat who just ate the canary as he expressed his "shock" (and awe?!) to the press.

Also, the reported story that Benjamin Netanyahu (who at the time was also doing God knows what at the Isreali Embassy in London) was warned beforehand, a story that was soon afterward pulled from all the wire services and newspaper websites.

You are a terrifically astute political sage; please keep up the good work (and good fight)of informing everyone of the latest news, and just maybe (I think the key now has to be Fitzgerald indicting REALLY quickly) together we can save it all from going down by the skin of our collective teeth!!

Posted by: Grizzly on July 30, 2005 08:49 PM

Grizzly,

I have family in Shallott; and a nephew at Ft. Bragg, who has been in Afghanistan and Iraq. This area is not far from Myrtle Beach, where I also have family and of course it is close to Charleston where I was born and still have family. My brother's birthday is the 16th... there is much "chatter" online... I do not like any of it... one website has recently completed a poll wherein they cite the most likely targets. This area, including Charleston is 3rd on the list ironically enough.

John,

"Don't be afraid" --- you are right. "They" (whomever "they" are!) would like us to be very, very afraid. Truth is, many more numbers than we imagine are wise to these fascists... What would we have done if a gang of thugs had moved into the Oval Office and set up a government? Would Americans have sat quietly? But isn't that what happened?

Israeli Bulldozers Destroy Remains of Byzantium Church in Gaza

GAZA, July 20, 2005, (WAFA)- Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MTA) revealed Wednesday that Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) destroyed a very important archeological site south of Gaza.

Director General of MTA, Dr. Moin Sadeq, told WAFA that Israeli troops razed yesterday (Tuesday) a site of huge remains of Byzantium Church, close to the shore of Deir Albalah City, south of Gaza.

He said that the site consisted of floors made of mosaic constructed in 586 AD, pointing that MTA reconstructed it in Arle City in France in 2000.

No one at Acoma talks of the enslavement of our people as we were forced to build a huge, massive church. All the materials of sand, rock and wood, were carried on the backs of my people to the mesa top. Who knows how many Acomas died in the construction of their church. Today the people proudly say this is our church. We built it with our blood, sweat and tears. It is true what one of our guides said to tourists. "They made slaves out of us to build this church I guess that is why we are Catholics today". Such is the power of the crown and the cross. Today the priest holds mass when tribal leaders allow him to do so. The Catholic Church should be so proud they have brainwashed so well that we are devout practitioners. We became Catholics so that we could survive another day. All the while we are still here, believing and practicing our language, culture and religion.

If indigenous people did not submit to the rulers then just war could be declare upon them. The famous square league, about 17,000 acres, was recognized as the land set-aside by the Spanish for the indigenous tribes. The rest was, of course, was kept by the conquerors. The people of today have never understood how the conquerors could give out land that was not theirs in the first place. It was not free land for the taking. This continuation of imperialism was declared to be manifest destiny by the United States and the theft of land and subjection of people continued. Upon the implementation of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, in 1848, the United States felt, as is duty to respect the land rights of indigenous peoples. Articles 8 and 9 talk of the indigenous people. In the treaty it stipulated that if pueblo Indian people did not want to be citizens of the United States they could just leave. I guess we could have just left our homelands and moved to Mexico. I think this imposition of citizenship has never really being understood by the ancient inhabitants of this land. In this way we were made political prisoners and we remain so to this day.

RE: Peak Oil and the demise of the corporatists: it's possible they're privately (read: secretly) working on alternative energy creation as we speak; after they've gotten all the money from it they can and the oil's run out, they can unveil their new products for us to buy!

Shylurker, I do hope. I really like this guy. I've read all his interviews and the transcrips of his debates. He stands up for what he believes and stands up forcefully for abortion, civil rights for everyone, his faith and the right to practice as he believes, keep government out of the bedroom, we should not be in Iraq, and best of all he stands up to his wealth and makes his candidate do the same. He said "like my opponent, I have had the gifts of a great and prosperous family and have been able to build upon those gifts but unlike my opponent I believe people like me should pay our fair share and carry the burden for the poor because the poor have been carrying the burden for us for way too long."

Boy Shylurker, I like this guy, he also said in public, Bush was a SOB and more dangerous to the world than Hussain, but he felt he had a duty to America and to be there to do what he could in this mess. Love him, love him. He is as arrogant as George and says what he thinks, only he has values. Dear God, he stands up for the Democratic Party, another Howard Dean. Could it be that we will add them one by one.

I don't think it is easy for anyone to deal with endings, period. To anything at all, let alone a child of your flesh. Hugs to you both.

Definition from Wikipedia:

Diplomatic immunity is a form of legal immunity and a policy held between governments, which ensures that diplomats are given safe passage and are considered not susceptible to lawsuit or prosecution under the host country's laws (although they can be expelled). It was agreed as international law in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961), though there is a much longer history in international law.

It is possible for the official's home country to waive immunity; this tends to only happen when the individual has committed a serious crime, unconnected with their diplomatic role (as opposed to, say, allegations of spying), or has witnessed such a crime. Alternatively, the home country may prosecute the individual.

--------------

If Dubya does (illegally) appoint Bolton, would he then be an 'ambassador-designate' – a diplomatic agent who has been designated by the President as his/her choice as personal representative but who has not yet been confirmed by the Senate and who has not taken the oath of office (U.S. only)[from Washington Diplomat]?

If they circumvent that, and let him take an oath: does diplomatic immunity extend to an ambassador in his native country? That is to say, Bolton would be at the UN, in NYC. He is not the ambassador from France, living in the United States, protected by his rank... diplomatic immunity exists to protect one serving in a foreign land. Right? Of course in the Looking Glass World, or in the eye of the fascist, there is no 'law' except what the fascist deems the law to be... right?

You know, I finally rememberred what I came to post, and I wonder at the 'cycle'....this was in the Scotsman:

IRA realises time for war is finished, insists Adams

AFTER decades of violence the IRA ended its terrorist campaign for a united Ireland yesterday and pledged to hand over its weapons without any conditions.

Now, if the IRA started in the 1920's (not sure), then it has been 84 years....Uranus cycle...and just maybe they took a look at themselves and thought they were pretty small potatoes in the terrorism business when compared to Bush/Blair and the Muslim terrorists....think the competition was just too great?
haha.

Overheard in Brooklyn between two 'church' ladies.
"I'm not allowed to feel hate, if I feel hate then I'm not being Xtian'.

Since the time Cain killed Able (if that actually happened and not just written as a metaphor for teaching) human beings 'feel' all types of feelings. Even anger, jealousy, hate that leads to murder. However, most humans do not 'act out' these intense feelings. The feelings stay in control by using a discriminating mind. Not to feel an emotion is when it's gonna leak out in some other way. Hypocritical behaviors like the smallpox blankets and other forms of genocide are repressed emotions acted out. So sad. Fundies are really mentall ill.

Garry - The Unholy Trinity (Christianity, Judism, and Islam) have been very effective in brainwashing the masses.

Abolish organized religion and the world will be a much better place. Unfortunately, it will only happen after the near destruction of our planet and the human race for people to awaken to the fact that there is not a mythical being coming to "save" them.

Those of us that are awake are the only ones that have eyes to see and ears to hear. And we are out numbered.

I woke up this morning with this running through my head like a mantra.

"Imagine no religion,
it's easy if you try.
No hell below us,
Above us only sky.
Imagine all the people,
living life in peace.

You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one.
Hope some day you will join us,
and the world will live as one"

"Jesus Christ was the last vegetation deity of the Near Eastern world, or all that remained of one, pitting himself against the rational corruption of urban Rome, as it extended into the ancient "Holy Land." But a vegetation God makes no sense separate from earth, ecstatic cycles, and the female moon. The Jewish Essene-like communities had broken utterly with pagan vision and rhythms; they were anti-earth, anti-body, anti-woman. In the ascetic aridity of the desert they raised up disembodied male spirit against the flesh, the world, and the Devil. The Neolithic garden of oneness with the Goddess was gone. What was left was a dry and fervid partriarchal "war of the spirit" against everything alive.

"Jesus Christ, the last vegetation god of the Neolithic Near East, bloomed in a desert. He bloomed as a devastating sun, withering to all life. All he could die for was an afterworld."

But REWARD/motivation does work!)Sounds good to me... hey, why should I have all the fun and eat all the chocolate? There's plenty here... a whole bag of peppermint York patties! So get those fingers tapping! Don't forget to write the current resident of the WH and tell him what you think of his stinking energy bill and CAFTA and whatever else you can think of... heck, if nothing else, it will clog their mailbox! Think of it --- like the letters to Harry Potter that kept coming through the slat in the door, and then anywhere Harry was... letters and more letters! Onward... no stamps needed! Here's my current offering to CNN for the inane poll they rendered on "How does your health rate compared to the President?":

Email to CNN: Some of your polls are really ridiculous! And most pose restricted choices. For instance, the one today on Bush's health. I'd be healthier than I am if I spent a couple of months out of the year on vacation. Why don't you ask a question about how much time Bush spends on vacation?

My health? With Bush in office, you ask a dumb question like that? And how is your health, just reading press releases from the White House?

A grandma in South Carolina,
who knows social security is headed for the trash bin... Medicare has been gutted and billions handed over to the druglords... and my grandchildren's education is in the toilet, with public school system having been trashed and Charter schools the only viable solution for po' folk.

What's wrong with you people? Do you not have aged parents? Do you not have children? Do you simply get paid more than you're worth?

Democratic Dos and Don’ts
By Rep. Jan Schakowsky

The Bush Administration and Republican Congressional leaders have plenty of reason to be worried. Large majorities of Americans believe the country is going in the wrong direction, that Bush doesn’t share their priorities, that the war in Iraq wasn’t worth it, and that the President can’t be trusted. Most people can’t think of anything Congress has done except for intruding in the Terri Schiavo case, and almost everyone disapproved of that. Democrats in Congress, while still not earning high ratings, are ahead of the Republicans by the largest margin in recent times. And I haven’t heard anyone raving about what a genius Karl Rove is lately.

The turf is favorable, but we’ve been there before—in 2000 and 2004. What should progressives do as we approach the 2006 elections to capitalize on Americans’ sense of unease and discontent?

Hey all I wrote this email to some of my friends in responce to a question about Saudis and the US. I thought it might be helpful to you.

Your theory is interesting but the whole story is very very convoluted as it involves karma that is cycling through the system at a continual rate and the trace of the karma must go back all the way to the beginning of time.
So since I havent seen the whole story what I can tell you is that the Saudi's are currently alligned with the U.S., but there are factions which oppose this allignment on both sides. These factions are secrectly working together to destroy the alliance for their own purposes. I dont know how that relates to the question of why the events of Sep 11 happened, but the answers are bound to show up at some point. It has to do with all that other stuff Ive been telling you guys about. There is some kind of blood feud going on and the leaders are using the people as their shock troops. Think of it like if Sauron and Sauromon had decided to have a civil war and send their orc armies to fight each other. Thats the best analogy I have right now. Or think of the game of Titan. Each Titan doesnt give a rats ass about how many of his minions he loses so long as he ends up top Titan. Now of course we know once in a while the Titan game ends up in a tie and both Titans destroy each other at once. See God and Godess add a zero point function to all dark side programs. Actually they are the inherent creation point of the program, so the dark side programs always end up returning to their origin point, which is the 0 point. At that point they become 0, which of course is nothing. Suckers. So bascially thats why the darkness destroys itself- Dark Vadar destroys the Emperor, Sauron is actually
destroyed by Gollum's evil, Sauromon is killed by Vema Wormtongue. The catch is basically that we are looking at layers of evil systems in our world, but eventually one of them tries to rule them all. There can only be
One Lord of the Rings, and he does not share power. When that particular
layer decides to rule them all, it begins to destroy all the others to
consolidate all power at the core of the system. Now that means evil fights
evil. Fascism vs. Communism. Communism vs. Capitalism. "Islam" vs.
"Christianity". Now the last list is a few of the religious and economic systems. There are other systems and they are designed based upon 5
structures- race, status, economics, religion, and government. Currently
all of our current systems are ruled by the darkness and hence are running a
destruction cycle program we call Armageddon. Armageddon's primary function in the system is to consolidate all darkness into a single unit so that it can destroy itself. Woops. The problem with evil is that it always seeks to supplant its controller. Thats why evil eventually degenerates into chaos. Chaos is stronger than evil. Its the law of cosmic entropy. Not even Morgoth(the Dark Lord before Sauron) himself could prevent that. Eventually all dark lords must be challenged from within their own ranks and there is a rebellion which attempts to supplant them. Thats why Sauron's greatest fear was for someone with a greater will taking the ring and becoming a new dark lord. Sauron never thought anyone would actually destroy the ring itself, which is the system itself. And of course no one could come openly to challenge him because he would have seen them coming, for he was ever watchful for the great and mighty to come challenge him. His weakness was that he could never have taken into account the children that slipped into his midst (the hobbits) and accomplished what seemed to be impossible. In fact he was
powerless in this regard because they were hidden, using the same deceptive
power upon which he built his empire. Evil destroying evil again, deception
overcoming deception. Gandalf was very tricky, as wizards ought to be. So its the children that destroyed the darkness, keep that in mind.

Anyway, what we currently have is a ring cycle event at multiple stages of
development operating at all levels of the global system. The system is
reaching critical mass, and a sequence of fractal degeneration events will
begin to manifest at an increasing pace until the Armegeddon sequence is triggered. At this point, a new cycle will emerge from within the Armegeddon cycle, and so it will be more clear. Essentially what we are seeing in the war in Raq (hehe like Nam- note man spelled backwards hehe) is a run-up to the Armegeddon sequence. When the American machine runs out of steam, the next cycle will begin. Now currently as we look at the alliance structure in the Middle East we see national factions, transnational factions, religious factions, corporate factions, ideological-political factions, tribal factions, and many many others. The Americans have triggered a new cycle by invading Iraq. The decision was made to make the world anew in America's image and on a larger scale in the Western image. To do so the greatest power of the West sent its greatest army into the heart of the darkness to challenge it. And so it was doomed, as Mandos says in the Simmerillion. Doomed of course means destined, for on one side is destiny, and on the other is doom, so the Last March of the Ents who go to their doom. Tolkien was a f**ing genius. Anyhow, so if you want to understand more about whats going on in the Middle East, I recommend
everyone take a look at the factions involved and draw maps of their current
relationships. Just think of it like playing a game, which is what it is.
Solving the puzzle is fun. My minor was in International Affairs you know,
its a puzzle to me. The factions(there are more but this analysis involves
these levels) are heirarchical-relational-functional,
corporate-institutional-adminstrative, tribal-cultural-racial,
national-governmental-political, and ideological-religious-spiritual. Now
you have your tools. Have fun putting the puzzle together. Oh and dont say
I didnt warn you, its ugly as hell in there. Bye!

And then, of course, there were all the residuals (tb, among them). Well, Sally, technically, you're right: "Not Congress, not the courts, not anyone has been able to stop this group. They do what they want and no one has the power to do anything about it and they know it." ...NOT UNTIL WE LEARN THAT THEY HAVE NO POWER, THAT THEY ARE THE WIZARD OF OZ WITH A BAD ATTITUDE.

That's the lesson here. This is self-inflicted punishment. There is no one in leadership who will fight. Look at the Democrats in the House and Senate. Pelosi can't enforce discipline (CAFTA, defections) and Reid, while he won big on Social Security, doesn't know he's the Democratic leader (screwed up on Bankruptsy & the gun mfgr liability bill). They lose. A real leader WILL EMERGE when we're ready to say enough of the bull ship...but that's part of it already. The leader will cause us to learn that we had the power all the time.

Thanks to this greedy, thieving, disasterous crew, this country will never be the same again...ant "that's a good thing" because a docile, uninterested public doesn't work with a nation as powerful as this.

Exclusive: Secret Memo—Send to Be Tortured
Newsweek

Aug. 8, 2005 issue - An FBI agent warned superiors in a memo three years ago that U.S. officials who discussed plans to ship terror suspects to foreign nations that practice torture could be prosecuted for conspiring to violate U.S. law, according to a copy of the memo obtained by NEWSWEEK. The strongly worded memo, written by an FBI supervisor then assigned to Guantanamo, is the latest in a series of documents that have recently surfaced...

".... said the memo reflects concerns among many agents and lawyers about "rendition." Intel officials estimate that more than 100 terror suspects have been rendered to foreign countries by the CIA under a classified directive signed by President George W. Bush after 9/11... "

This may nail him.

Pat QofP,
Last year before the election, I couldn't take their polls! I could read them, not take them. And I couldn't send mail via their contact button. I send it via their generic address which is: cnn@cnn.com After Christmas, my hubby and I switched computers, the newer one is faster. His Mercury sleeps most of the time anyway, so he didn't need speed. Now he has the 'blocked' machine and I've not been sending CNN much mail (figured no point)... but I had a talk with myself and concluded it is not very intelligent to stop sending my opinion out... after all, the cheerleaders send constant word.

Anyway, try the generic address...

Mike,

Your post at DU was very interesting. I saw Patty McC in "Bad Seed" (I was much younger then!) and struggled with the concept that a child could be evil, or that evil exists, for that matter. I have over the years concluded in that warm, fuzzy manner of the 'New Age' that evil doesn't exist, it is simply 'misdirected' energy. Bull turkey! The evil in the White House has been a huge lesson. It exists alright!

Did the 'point of no return' pass with the
(s)election of 2000? That is to say, Americans did not protest then --- we should have! But the fascists have us by the ___ now. Those who are awake don't know what to do, and those who are still asleep, don't want to wake up. Besides, it's hard to tell who the bad guys are, since some of them are 'Democrats'...

Growing up I swallowed that mantra hook, line and sinker about the Russian people. You know the one: If they wanted to be free, all they had to do was rise up against the communists! [yeah, right! Look that tank/Uzzi right in the face, and tell 'em to get out!]

Some folks said before the election that these guys would do everything they could to 'win' (translate that to 'fix the intelligence around') the election because otherwise most of them were looking at time behind bars. Well, they're still there, and their crimes are rising to the surface. Same motive for staying in office still exists.

What happens if Fitzgerald DOES bring indictments? What's Gonzales going to do with them?

Sorry, that's simply my rational, pragmatic energy speaking. I'll give it some chores to do and it will tire out... it feels pretty d#@$ powerless as it is...

Justin connects some more dots, but then I think we have the picture. Question is, what is going to be done about it.

http://antiwar.com/justin/

As for Bolton being 'appointed' ---

~snip~

"...In 2004, on the eve of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President Bush exploited the Congressional recess to install Judge Charles Pickering Sr. from Mississippi in the federal appeals court seat to which Senate Democrats had twice blocked his confirmation. In 1994, Judge Pickering had gone to considerable lengths to reduce the sentence of a man convicted of burning a cross on the lawn of a mixed-race couple."

~snip~

It's worth remembering... that the signers of the Declaration of Independence were fighting a tyrant whose univocal power was centralized in the British Throne. They thus felt the need to declare that governments "derive their just powers from the consent of the governed."

... if President Bush exploits the recess appointment power to install John Bolton, he will be directly thwarting the voice of the governed - as expressed through Congress. Indeed, the entire purpose of this move will be to ignore outside voices - the voices of both the Constitution's Framers and modern commentators, of both Democrats and Republicans, of both conservatives and liberals, and of both other nations and this one - and, almost tyrannically, impose Presidential will.

That would be no way to honor the 56 signers who fought so hard for our liberty."

Jo, I was interested in your comments about "evil" as I have pondered it for years. Is there evil? And, if there is, what is the boundary line where one's deeds cross from being hurtful, wrong, bad, to evil?

I think the issue ends up being a paradox as most things do.

One way to look at it is that those who hurt others were hurt themselves + taught how to be abusive by the punative, critical, somewhat loveless world of the past and that we still live in today (although it is better) and we should have compassion for them. That's all true.
However, does that excuse someone from rationalizing that their behavior is ok or justified, when it is not?

In "Conversations with G-d, Vol. II" it is brought out that it depends on the context -- in some contexts behaviors that we normally classify as wrong are actually good. There is also an interesting discussion of whether Hitler was punished and the answer was that no one is punished. In other words, we keep getting new chances.

Maybe evil is a combination of anger & revenge (originally created by hurt) that results in actions which are consciously harmful and manevalent, and even enjoyed. I still do not think that evil is a force that possesses one, but can be, in modern terms, a personality disorder resulting in an action or series of actions that are harmful and destructive, and for which an individual must be held responsible and accountable. At the very least, that individual must be stopped from harming anyone else.

Paul Levy ("Awaken the Dream") sent out an interesting email today ("If it doesn't kill you, it will make you stronger"). He generally repeats himself a great deal but he added new, personal information that made his theories easier to read. He has coined a term, "egophrenia." Apparently, his father was the source of much of this. It seems his father had so much guilt and bad feeling for something he had done, that he had to lie and cover it up and this lead to denial and the need to have power over others. I don't think I've explained it well but, apparently, he thinks this is George Bush's disease and it is a collective illness that we all take part in supporting. We have dreamed it up (or subconsciously created and support it).

I do not in the least think "I helped dream up" the bushie et al "diseases" just like I did not "help dream up" the much more benign Clinton adm or the Hitler adm or the Eisenhower adm or a Jesus Christ adm or a Paul Levy adm... I'm responsible for my "behaviors" period. All are connected at some level, I 'spose, but the particulars are each beings' own. And when somebody else "dreams" are in my face! ...I shall fight it with everything I have. Many terribly abused folks have gone on to be compassionate people; by the same token, people who have not been abused have turned out real sh*ts. I'm not responsible for their behaviors either... they are.

Posted by: JoannaOregon on August 1, 2005 04:47 PM

Sharon,

I surely don't 'know' --- but I have come to recognize some 'entities' as evil. I can no longer excuse it as 'misdirected' energy... not when it appears that 98% of the energy is 'evil'. Course we are speaking of dualities here. Not the 'oneness' of all. I don't believe in 'punishment' --- rather, I think we reap the consequences of our deeds.

Astrologically, if one looks at the natal chart of the USA (a collective) as an entity, one can see a lot more... starpathvisions does alot of interpretation along those lines. Of course, that doesn't mean his interpretations are correct... they do give some insight though, something to ponder.

As for Paul Levy, I have stopped reading him because I refuse to carry guilt for what is going on today... 'dreamed' it up? Nope, not me. Again, I think the natal chart shows the country to be what it is... I had simply not seen it before. It is very troubling to 'see' it.

Just some rambling thoughts. And as you have probably observed, my thoughts are always evolving... thank you for sharing yours. I imagine many of us find 'evil' a difficult concept. Namaste

"...NOT UNTIL WE LEARN THAT THEY HAVE NO POWER, THAT THEY ARE THE WIZARD OF OZ WITH A BAD ATTITUDE"
------------------------------------------------
You are so right Mike, it's when we really know they have no power, when we stop taking this group seriously and start treating them like the troubled children they are. Joe Wilson isn't afraid of them, Howard Dean doesn't seem to be afraid of them, Paul Hackett isn't afraid of them and more and more will step up to the plate, one by one. When we take our eye off of what Bush is doing and turn our eyes to what the country is doing, he loses power.

So Bolton is a dips..., it's not like he is the only one in this administration. I do draw strength from Rupert Murdoch's problems and Schwarzenegger and Taft's because they are right on astrological schedule to reap the whirlwind. So is the Bush group, true they have extensive resources to keep the flow behind the dam, but eventually the dam will break for them inside the beltway.

Nothing is ever as it seems to be, and while we think we are seeing the destruction of America's way of life, perhaps we are seeing the destruction of that top 2 percent in the world. One of our readers "M" sent this to me this morning. Energy is shifting and perhaps the people of the world (including us) are getting ready to unite.

Right you are Joanna, I did not dream up Dubya and/or his administration either. I will not carry that load (of #$@%) either. Barbara and GHWB dreamed up Dubya (two gene pools I wouldn't put my little toe in!) and the two (at least Poppy) probably had a lot to do with the 'administration' nightmare we are experiencing!

I like Pat C.'s take: Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream... merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream. But it's MY boat and MY life/dream... that's the one i am responsible for...

So this morning I chose not to drive to Washington DC and oppose Dubya's installation of John Bolton. In that one act of omission, I did not bring about the nightmare of Bolton at the UN. On the other hand, had I driven to DC, I would have run head-on into the militia preparing to escort Dubya to Crawford, and my little boat would have hit the rocks. Futile to stop a boy on his way to summer camp. There's all those frogs to blow up!

Kettle is on, Joanna. Sharon, would you like a cup of tea? Or a chocolate?

'Hapless toad' case shows how court nominee thinks
- Bob Egelko, Chronicle Staff Writer
Monday, August 1, 2005

It's only a "hapless toad,'' in John Roberts' words.

But of all the cases in the Supreme Court nominee's career, a dispute over an endangered amphibian in the path of a California homebuilder may provide the best indication of his views on most any major issue likely to come before the court.

The July 2003 opinion -- his first after President Bush appointed him to the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C. -- questioned an important legal rationale for the Endangered Species Act. The opinion also suggested that Roberts has a narrow interpretation of the federal government's power to regulate interstate commerce, the basis for a wide range of laws.

"This case calls into serious question his views on the scope of the (Constitution's) commerce clause ... which might have serious implications for other environmental laws and health and worker protection, civil rights and consumer laws,'' said Glenn Sugameli, a lawyer with the environmental advocacy firm Earthjustice.

* Exclusive: Secret Memo—Send to Be Tortured

8/8/05 issue - An FBI agt warned superiors in a memo 3 yrs ago that US officials who discussed plans to ship terror suspects to foreign nations that practice torture c/b prosecuted for conspiring to violate US law, according to a copy of the memo obtained by NEWSWEEK. The strongly worded memo, written by an FBI supervisor then assigned to Guantanamo, is the latest in a series of documents that have recently surfaced reflecting unease among some govt lawyers & FBI agts over tactics being used in the war on terror. This memo appears to be the 1st that directly questions the legal premises of [sado-rez regime] policy of "extraordinary rendition"—a secret program under which terror suspects are transferred to foreign countries that have been widely criticized for practicing torture.

In a memo forwarded to a sr FBI lawyer on 11/27/02, a supervisory spec agt from the bureau's behavioral analysis unit offered a legal analysis of interrogation techniques that had been approved by Pentagon officials for use against a high-value Qaeda detainee. After objecting to techniques such as exploiting "phobias" like "the fear of dogs" or dripping water "to induce the misperception of drowning," the agt discussed a plan to send the detainee to Jordan, Egypt or an unspecified 3rd country for interrogation. "In as much as the intent of this category is to utilize, outside the US, interrogation techniques which wld violate [US law] if committed in the US, it is a per se violation of the US Torture Statute," the agt wrote. "Discussing any plan which incl this category c/b seen as a con-spiracy to violate [the Torture Statute]" & "wld inculpate" everyone involved. ... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8769416/site/newsweek/

Some time ago I ran across a wonderful little paperback - Robert Cole's 'Book of Houses' -
wherein he illustrates how to set up your own individual cycle using sign/degrees on each house. He begins the study with the eleventh House, The House of Choosing Seeds (as a farmer would) and ends with the tenth house, the House of Harvest.

For a couple of decades now I have been using this little book and my journals to 'go with the flow' so to speak... to look back at what I was doing every year between July 2 and August 2 --- when I am making my 'wishes' for the coming year. Only now, I try and do it in a conscious manner. I actually write out a list of usually 7-8 wishes. Tomorrow, on the last day of the cycle, I will visualize my wishes manifested on May 28th, my Harvest Day --- all during the year I will nurture and cultivate and visualize, trying to bring my 'garden' to fruition. There's a summary of the book online for those interested, called 'Cycle of Becoming' ---

I would just like to thank all of you for your suggestions and support in the midst of my work dillemma:

Sharon, for your experience of how a university handles discrimination (and boy, after 3 lawsuits against my boss in 5 years for sexual harassment, refusal to support a student against a lecturer who harassed her, and a faculty member who claims that the administration was discriminating against her because of gender) I have the sense I may be in better position to make a case for disability discrimination given his record. Thanks for letting me feel like I have someone else who's been through it.

Shylurker and Jo, thanks for your good thoughts - I can use all the light that comes to me!

Jill, for the cranio-sacral advice - since the accident I have been fortunate to have the best bodyworker on the planet, and cranio-sacral was the first approach (we've since included a LOT of different modalities) and it always works and does wonders for the stress associated with having such a difficult working environment (though I do my best to maintain a light attitude in the face of adversity.)

And to Pat QOP, I can't imagine a more difficult time; for many years my worst fear as a parent has been that my son would go before I did. That fear made me hold on to him much more tightly than I perhaps should have. Cherish every moment, every word, every glance, and hold him as much as you can, as he needs YOU as much as you love HIM.

Many thanks to the denizens of the best board on the planet!

Baraka, I wish you every blessing and the support you need in trying to figure this out. I just want to emphasize that I think it's best to first explore it with human resources in a confidential meeting before your boss is made aware of what's happening. Make sure you know what your options and contingencies are because your boss could make it very uncomfortable for you if you continue working there while you have a complaint in. But of course, you are are too strong to allow him to get to you!

Baraka,

Good to hear from you... and I will continue to send you light... isn't this little corner amazing? Here is Sharon, who has all that job experience in a university environment, who has wondrously pointed out the mines in the field to you! And Jill G., with her expertise... what treasures, what gems we have here...

Baraka, please continue to update us as to your wellbeing. Namaste

More on Cole's book cited upthread...

der fuhrer is moving into his first house... tSun will hit his ASC this coming Saturday. Cole calls this day, 'Resurrection Day' - like your birthday. It's the moment when the seedling bursts out of the warm, dark soil into the light of the sun. Quite literally, it is a re-birth day.

The first house is the house of self. It is the house of loneliness and freedom... a time when you are likely to want to be alone.

Is this perhaps why Dubya retreats to his hideaway every August? I realize Congress is in recess, but he could still carry out his duties as Executive. He has chosen instead every August to retreat.

Have you ever seen a stinkhorn fungus? It also bursts out of the warm dark soil into the light of the sun.....but from a spore not a seed! It looks like a livid red & purple penis, ( circumsized) & has a truly VILE smell!
The more likely scenario!!!!!!
Began the day at the mechanic's.......2 young men trying desperately to figure out how many days in a month. High school grads '90 & '96, nether knew the old rhyme.
Thirty days hath Sept, April June, & November............................
One had heard it vaguely but hadn't memorized it.
They agreed readily that they'd been left behind!

Then to the hospital where they'd shaved Eric's head ( he has a very nicly shapped scull!) & moved out the second bed from his room...........................a penniless pauper in a private hospital room ....................................not good!
WHile he had his radiation & 'nother catscan, I went over to Joann Fabrics & encountered lots of dumb sheeple, came vback to the hospital and watched the smirking over the Bolton apt., & listened to the stepford robots cooing over how he is brilliant, ( so was Ted Bundy) the Presidents man, and will do his bidding. Wait a minute.....that's not what I wanted to see happen!
Yes Pat C I would love to do a tall ship painting. I may be busy this month, visiting Eric but will need something to keep me occupied soon........................
Signing off as we have an incipient thunder storm

Jo, lets hope that the lead story in today's Wash. Post: "Iran Said To Be 10 Years Away From Nuclear Weapons Capability", also implying that Bushco. has been lying to scare people on this, exactly as with Iraq, will cool down the lunatics led by Darth Cheney from doing anything ultra radical for awhile, so that we can buy some time re Fitzgerald, etc.

Interesting story on the Chinese riots over the smirking arrogant gov't official and his bodyguards who beat a peasant and caused a riot of huge proportions. Reading it made me think of the Watts riots in Aug of 1965, and the subsequent riots at Attica in NY, and more......and how long has it been since Rodney King and the newer South Central LA riots? Because it has been 40 years since the Watts riots. A nice little Uranian transit.

I was clicking through tv channels and caught a small part of a talk show that had the man that seems to be credited with finding the new planet. He had a 24 day old daughter named Lila, and he was calling the new planet Lila, after her. Don't know if that has anything to do with what the planet will be named, just of interest.

Sorry, I didn't even pay attention to the channel or program, mostly focused on the adorable baby and caught a few minutes of the conversation, as stated above.

Rodney King & LA riots 1992! In May.
I had stayed overnight in Pasadena, with a friend I had met in an astrology class in NJ,
Was it late Feb,? early March? I missed Kristi Yamaguchi's victory parade ( after winning the olympic gold medal/skating ) by about 4 hours, stayed with another friend in Fremont, before heading up to Portland to my Mother's.
I had tentative plans to go back down to Pasaadena for a mutual B-day celebration ( she was Gemini), but didn't go thereby I missed being there for the riots!!!!!
Guess, I wasn't clear........I was relating the stinkhorn to Jo's quote from Cole, directed towards Crawford! Implying that if you are a spore you grow into a fungus/ as opposed to a seed into flower!
I did see one last August, in the heart of suburban NJ, growing in the landscaping wood chips, among the flowers, in front of the big Eckard Drug store ( it did relate to our situation at that time ) expressing Travesio's Generica well!

His sister is coming over again next week, and his exwife will make another trip up from NJ with his son, this month! Now that my car is in capable hands, ( Imported Car repair Bar Harbor) I can go more freely!
He is a Libra with Libra ASC & Leo moon, charms people on contact, ( & at present very dignified!) so the hospital staff is engaged.
Thanx.......

Too Many Planets Numb the Mind
When a Caltech astronomer, Michael Brown, announced last year that his team had found a distant object three-fourths the size of Pluto orbiting the Sun, he declined to call it a planet, and he even suggested that Pluto should not be considered a planet either. There was, he said, just no good scientific rationale for considering either of those distant bodies in the same league as the eight indisputable planets that circle the Sun at closer range.

Now Dr. Brown has found something orbiting the Sun that's bigger than Pluto and even farther away. He's changed his mind and proposed that Pluto keep its designation, and that the new object, an extremely big lump of ice and rock, should also be deemed a planet. There is still no good scientific rationale for the judgment, he admitted, but this is a case where habit - 75 years of calling Pluto a planet - should trump any scientific definition.

There is no real debate that the four terrestrial planets - Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars - and the four gaseous giants - Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune - deserve their status as planets. But scientists have long been uneasy about including Pluto, an icy ball smaller than our Moon, whose orbit is more eccentric than the others and tilts in a different plane.

Try as they might, scientists could not come up with a definition that would retain Pluto as a planet without requiring that scads of other objects be deemed planets as well. Nor could they satisfy the legions of space enthusiasts who remain certain from their grade school lessons that there are nine planets - no more, no less.

So now Dr. Brown proposes that scientists give up the battle and accept a cultural definition of what a planet is. It's either the nine planets we learned about in grade school, or those nine plus any new-found object orbiting the Sun that turns out to be bigger than Pluto. He opts for the latter approach on the theory that most people, deep down, accept that definition. This definition would also, of course, qualify Dr. Brown for the historical footnotes as the discoverer of a new planet.

Our own preference is to take a cleaner way out by dropping Pluto from the planetary ranks. Scientists may well discover many more ice balls bigger than Pluto, and it's a safe bet that few in our culture want to memorize the names of 20 or more planets. Far better to downgrade Pluto to the status of an icy sphere that was once mistakenly deemed a planet because we had not yet discovered its compatriots on the dark fringes of the solar system.

BUSH AND CHENEY INDICTED

A Chicago grand jury has indicted the President and Vice-President of the United
States along with multiple high officials in the Bush administration

Chicago -- August 2, 2005 -- TomFlocco.com -- U.S. federal prosecutor Patrick
Fitzgerald's Chicago grand jury has issued perjury and obstruction of justice
indictments to the following members of the Bush Administration: President
George W. Bush, Vice-President Richard Cheney, Bush Chief of Staff Andrew Card,
Cheney Chief of Staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Attorney General Alberto
Gonzalez, former Attorney General John Ashcroft, imprisoned New York Times
reporter Judith Miller and former Senior Cheney advisor Mary Matalin.

I should add to that thing on indictments that I haven't had time to read it, it came last night and I was not reading emails then, and this was also in the email - because I don't know the veracity of Flocco:

I've spoken to Flocco on the phone about related matters in the past, and he's
always seemed credible and proven reliable in his reporting.

I was informed earlier today and prior to Flocco's report that a major news
magazine would be breaking a bombshell story later this week.

Incredible? Or inevitable? Jim

Haven't had time to check the Chicago papers either...

About the indictment news from tomflocco.com--I thought Bush & Cheney did not testify before the grand jury under oath. So how can they indict them for perjury?

Not that I think they don't belong in jail for their many crimes. Has anybody seen toostupidtobepresident.com? My favorite item there is a auto license plate that reads: "My next license plate will be made by Bush and Cheney."

Rejuvenate Your Spirits

Been feeling stressed out after watching or reading the news lately? A "news fast" - avoiding news on the television, newspaper or the Internet for a few days or even a week - may help renew your spirits. It is a good way to gauge how you react to and process news, and how the news affects you.

If it seems outlandish, consider the following:
Both local and national network news have increased their emphasis on crime, even as U.S. crime rates continue to decline. This is particularly true of local news.
Studies show that violence, death and other negative images can provoke changes in mood and aggravate anxiety, sadness and depression.
Feelings of depression and sadness can lead to a negative view of your own life.
Perceiving the world as violent, unsafe and hostile can have negative effects on your body, as well. By taking a news fast, you can develop a more conscious relationship with the media - and promote greater mental calm within yourself. The goal is to spend less time being anxious and over-stimulated, and more time in harmonious mental states. Your body will function better. Give it a try!

John Aravosis is in Paris at the moment, but got so disturbed at all the people writing into americablog.com about the flocco story, that he posted on his blog that it is not true.

However, in the post immediately before it, posted by Michael in New York @ 2:15, is an amazing story of how much clean water we could buy for all the earth's people for many, many years--if we had used the money Smirky&Co are spending on the war on Iraq on clean water for the earth's inhabitants. One more reason to be shrieking.

SCHADENFREUDE

With the political news being so relentlessly depressing, many liberals seek solace by watching beautiful sunsets or listening to great music or reading fine literature. I'm not quite so pretentious. I get off on seeing conservatives unhappy. No bleeding heart liberal here. I revel in their pain. The more misery they incur, the sunnier my disposition. Contemptible, isn't it? I almost feel guilty.

The reason I take such joy from right wing angst is that Republicans agonize over things that would never bother normal people. Conservatives are unmoved by pestilence and famine, but they were scandalized by Al Gore’s beard, the one he grew after Bush stole the election. Right wingers were simultaneously horrified and fascinated by the Gore facial growth. They struggled in vain to unearth the hidden message behind the whiskers. Had Gore somehow exceeded the maximum level of dementia? Did he think he was Santa Claus? If so, would he bring them that really cool new G.I. Joe with the torture implement accessories? What could the beard possibly mean?

It meant he didn’t shave. Good God, if brains were lard conservatives would lack the means to grease a skillet. How reassuring to know the country is being run by people whose collective intellectual wattage couldn’t illuminate the inside of a refrigerator.

You don’t become inconsolably distraught when someone says, “Happy Holidays” unless you are either a Bush voter or confined within a mental hospital, not that the two are in any way incompatible. Yet as viewed from the right wing perspective only “Merry Christmas” will suffice, effectively marginalizing anyone who fails to ride the Jesus train. Being inclusive plays upon the predisposition of fascists to feel persecuted, so whenever I have the misfortune of meeting a Republican I smile sweetly and say, “Happy Holidays!” even if it’s August.

I am --- just putzing, no concern... just here.

tPluto is moving in to exactly oppose my nSun sq my nNeptune --- nice little T square, one-legged table? tUranus Rx, back again, exactly on my Desc, this time w/ tSaturn on my nPluto... I am poised... tMars moving in to strike my nJupiter.

Doing laundry, some journal work... just trying to stay centered...

Before the night is even through,
I rise and sit,
Watching fireflies.
The night air clear as water,
The meditating mind
Is light as a reed.

A bell rouses
Home up above.
There may be those in the dark
Who know just how fine

Clermont Co's page shows 90 precincts outstanding and that's about the total left to report on the pages that aggregate the votes.

Clermont is holding back for what? Did she lose her base?

And I second your hope that the WaPo will again become a real live newspaper, Grizz. Meanwhile, I frequent the web.

Shylurker, living in Warsaw, Poland for 3+ years now, I have gotten 99% of my news + info from the web, (mostly Astroworld, Kos, Buzzflash, Bush Watch, Raw Story, Talking Points Memo, Suburban Guerilla, etc. During this whole time every morning here at 7 a.m. or so (six hours later than N.Y. time) I have checked web versions of primarily the N.Y. Times + Wash. Post, until recently just to verify the fact that the MSM is (was, hopefully!) residing in some surreal alternate Pravda type universe of Bushco approved spin + propaganda. Recently though, I see things starting to crack, so hopefully the establishment has really had it up to here with these ultra dangerous loonies. Sure the U.S. "establishment" is not in my opinion a viable 'role model' for much of anything, but until we end the national/worldwide emergency by throwing these @#$%#$&* out of power, nothing progressive can be achieved. After the fact, Sally's(and others' of course) discussion of "what do we really want, and how can we achieve it?" can finally begin in earnest.

Posted by: Grizzly on August 3, 2005 06:04 AM

I don't see how there can be another invasion of a country with Mars retrograde square Saturn. And square Neptune.. the dangerous loonies don't know where to go.

PQ.... Is Eric still getting treatment or are you preparing for death? Do you think his survival is a possibility? How brave he is. You too.

Speaking of retrogrades.... I hit the streets last night and found a group of about a dozen middle aged folkies with their electric guitars and funky shirts, sitting in a circle, playing and singing the blues in a coffee house. Of course I joined them on an the old upright out of tune piano and we jammed into the night. We did a fine version of Stormy Monday. They rocked the house on Kansas City, but I bowed out, since it's not a favorite of mine. Some other fine fellow barreled through that one.
All of you ex beatnik, hippie, folkie politicos would have loved it.
Good people and good times. The kindness and gentleness filled the room. What an antidote.
They meet twice a month and what started as a few guys has turned into a growing musical entity. Old timers in a new age. Gotta love our elders! And the Blues.
Next time I'm taking one of my portable keyboards. It's in tune!

Does anyone think Paul Hackett should run against DeWine for his OH senate seat next year?
I think that Hackett's losing this special election race was a blessing in disguise because it gave him a lot of media exposure and I think his straight-shooting, take no prisoners attitude is just what the Democrats need.

I'm not a Pollyanna by any means and had a sinking feeling in my gut all last year about Kerry's chances, just to give you and idea, but for some reason I feel like a shift away from Bush and the GOP happened earlier this week. I can't really articulate it more than that, and I don't think we're out of the woods yet, but things are beginning to move, to change. Has anyone else experienced this?

Posted by: gbs on August 3, 2005 02:08 PM

Yes, gbs, I feel that move away from the GOP as well.

Several nights ago I had a dream that I was with a group of a dozen or so people and we were walking through a thick, very green forest. Faced with an apparently bottomless ravine, we somehow knew that if we took a simple step -- not a jump, but a step -- we would safely land on the distant road below us on the other side.

Now, GWBush was in this Group. I don't remember seeing him until the very end, but, when we came to the ravine, there he was. And, in an obviously impatient way, he jumps toward the road and ends up spiraling down the ravine. The rest of us simply step off and, whoosh, find ourselves safely on the other side and continue our journey.

But GWBush spiraled down the ravine and we moved on as if nothing happened. WE all followed directions, he didn't, tough luck. LOL

Perhaps I should stop inhaling the Ben&Jerry's before bedtime? :-)

Strange things are happening! My friend just called and said the prosecutor Fitzgerald and a Chicago court indicted Bush-Cheney today. The story by Tom Flocco can not be found on rense.com as of the past hour and tomflocco.com was pulled off the net. Big Brother is watching all of us. Starman

Vanity Fair: Turks Boasted of Payments to Hastert

Posted by: Pat C on August 4, 2005 02:02 AM

Bill,

That Tom Flocco rumour has been out for a few days now and was somewhat disproved on DU. I don't know for sure if the rumour's true or not, but I thought I'd put that out there so you could check out DU (do they have a Search Function? I've never looked) for yourself.

Posted by: Jonathan on August 4, 2005 02:12 AM

Bill & Jonathan, if you'll see a couple of messages I posted a day or so ago, the tom flocco thing was posted on DU and immediately locked by the moderator, who wrote "Tom Flocco is making this up." Or something to that effect. Just a little while later, John Aravosis at americablog.com, responding to a flurry of posts on his site, assured everyone the Tom Flocco story was not true. Now over at DU they are saying that the site has been taken down. We've got enough trouble; we don't need people making things up.

Posted by: shylurker on August 4, 2005 02:18 AM

Bill & Jonathan, on the other hand, do look at what Pat C just posted about Hastert. This is very exciting and, if true, I hope he pays big time for it. (They've just extended Martha Stewart's house arrest by 3 weeks you know.)

Posted by: shylurker on August 4, 2005 02:20 AM

Dear Shylurker, The reason I posted the flocco story is to find out the truth. I do a radio show that hears a lot of rumors from its listeners. As the astrologer on a liberal political show, I need facts not bs. Thanks for the facts, starman

JM,
They have assigned Eric a palliative care nurse.
palliate: to relieve the symptoms or effects of a disease, without curing ( alleviate, mitigate )
The chemo was so rugged, they have stopped it. The radiation,
is palliative, to reduce the tumor at the base of his esophogus, windpipe, so that he can eat. ( Which he is doing better than several weeks ago, and his voice is stronger..........) but the abdominal tumor needs the chemo, to get rid of it!
His hannds and feet look like latex gloves that someone has blown up and tied off with string. My sister in law, the hospice nurse, explained that that could cause a clot at any time. OR NOT. He is walking around more now..having been put back on pain patches and pills instead of a drip requiring him to pull the little stand along with him.
( On a corpopolitical note...........the pharmacy in Bangor sent him an envelope, of phentenol pills, 2 weeks too late...no they can't take them back it's AGAINST THE RULES, Bet if I tried to give them to the hospital, they couldn't take them either, because it would be outside their inventory list! So if I were inclined I could sell them on the street!)
I'll try to pass them along to some marginal person who needs them and has a little too much income to get them thru Mainecare.
Astrologically, t pluto conjuncts his IC @ 29o sag, then his saturn 1o cap in the 4th, end of December 2007 ??????????
T sat. conjuncts his n pluto 4o virgo ( ruler of the abdomin) 12th house, Oct 2007????
Jupiter is chugging right along to conjunct his merc. ( ruler of the 9th house and the lungs) 1st house, 14o libra?????
If anyone wants to work it out....Bdate sept 29 1959 6:30 am Bridgeton NJ.
I'm just trying to stay in the present, prepare for the worst and hope for the best!
