Hollywood East
For an administration that condemns the entertainment studios of Hollywood as a bastion of everything counter to GOP moral values (sic), it is a great irony that the antics of the Bush Cabal increasingly resemble a lively version of Hollywood on the Potomac. From its swaggering Wild West foreign policy to its ludicrous snake-oil budgetary numbers, life in the nations capital has begun to imitate art. Recently, we have even been treated to a special presentation of the Theater of the Absurd, where a faux journalist/gay male prostitute finds his way into the halls of power to help defend the honor of the administration from the attacks of the liberal media. Even FOX Broadcasting could not have come up with anything this brazen. Indeed, the one shining success of the Bush administration, which stands in sharp relief to its huge clutter of failed policy, is its ability to manipulate and stage its presentation to the unsuspecting public. Using well-choreographed public events, campaign speeches, and press conferences, it has meticulously sculpted its own image with the skill of a Michelangelo. Due to this hitherto unprecedented message control, many perceive George Bush in mythic dimensions - the ultimate heroic, compassionate, and strong president, touched by the fingertips of God. Needless to say, the Corporate Media has colluded in this unfolding prime-time president-as-superhero drama. While individual reporters fear losing access from the White House or being mocked into oblivion by the sycophantic conservative echo chamber if they step out of line, the executive boardrooms are happy to shore up an administration that offers them flaccid regulations and a sieve-like tax structure. The result has been a token mumble by the Fourth Estate that only barely informs the public about the multiple crimes of the Bush administration: the theft of the Treasury to enrich its friends; the drumbeat for war on false pretenses; the trashing of multiple international laws including the Geneva conventions; and the trade-in of a healthy, strong national future for a short-term, greedy power grab by the elite. Galloping into this environment of stagnant, dumbed-down, and vapid coverage (with a few shining and stellar exceptions), like vigilantes into the realm of a corrupt and inept county sheriff, the bloggers of cyberland are rapidly replacing the mainstream media as the source of the biggest scoops and the most interesting and daring investigative journalism. Many significant recent stories, including GannonGuckertGate, began on the blogs and then migrated to cable and network news shows when the clamor was impossible to ignore. It may be that this painful kick in the behind will motivate the more somnolent journalists of the mainstream to inject themselves with some adrenaline before they become completely obsolete. In any event, the rise of the blogs suggests a sea change in the world of journalism brought on by the growing role of the internet as a source of news. Astrologically, Uranus, the planet of freedom and revolution, is moving towards a square with the US natal Uranus, which rules the third house of communications and the media. This transit suggests a sudden awakening, rebellion, and transformation of the media that impacts the entire country. There are strong indications that this shift is already underway, but we can expect more momentous events in this area from March 19 through April 6 and during all of August 2005, when transiting Uranus will be waxing into its square with US Uranus, and from May 12 through June 9, 2005, when transiting Jupiter will be trine US Uranus. It is very possible that the media will pick up some significant stories during these times and run with them, despite their adverse impact on the administration. Given recent events, the newly designated Fifth Estate, the blogosphere, may be leading the pack. What makes the coming Uranus transit so significant is that there are parallel transits going on in the Inaugural chart and in Bushs natal chart. Uranus will be opposite Bushs Mars, semisquare his Midheaven, and square the Inaugural Moon from March 24 through April 15, from July 18 through August 16, 2005, and finally in January and early February 2006. This indicates momentous, upsetting, surprising events that will cause powerful transformations for Bush and his administration during these periods and, more generally, from late March 2005 through early February 2006. Bush will be angry and aggressive, and his administration will be quite agitated. In some way, the role of the press, possibly breaking from prior tradition or restriction, will be critical during these times. The coming Uranus transit may also signal various rebellions regarding health care or workers rights, since natal Uranus is in the US 6th house. A whiff of this is already in the air at NIH where overzealous restrictions on employees are causing an angry backlash. With the same Uranus transit conjuncting Iraqs natal Uranus (3/1 to 3/20/05), rebellion there and a desire to move into unexplored territory unhindered by US dictates may be on the horizon as well. Further indicating frustrations and severe difficulties for the US effort in Iraq, the Gulf War chart progressed Moon will be quincunx natal Saturn/progressed IC from March 10 through April 10. At present, we are nearing the end of Jupiters two-month station on US progressed Mars, quincunx US progressed Midheaven, and conjunct Inaugural Jupiter that has coincided with Bushs Jupiter return. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, optimism, and success. After February 23, this Jupiterian energy will be waning. Combined with US progressed Mars, it has brought an increase in aggressive bluster and hints of military action, most notably toward Syria and Iran. This transit has also included the increase in US troop deployment during the Iraqi election, as well as the feeling of success and optimism (Jupiter) surrounding that event and the potential for the spread of democracy it may have engendered in other Arab nations. As the transit wanes, we are likely to hear less threatening posturing from our government, and talk of attacking either Syria or Iran is likely to fade into the background. In addition, some of the more optimistic and hopeful mood regarding the imminent spread of democracy may diminish, especially as other events eclipse it come April. Also benefiting the Bush administration currently is the tertiary progressed Inaugural Venus conjunct natal Mercury. The natal conjunction of these two planets in the 9th house of the Inaugural chart suggests an improved relationship with foreign nations during this four-year term, alternating between somewhat cautious and more robust, due to the opposition from Saturn and the square from Jupiter. The Venus/Mercury tertiary progression, which covers the period between February 5 and February 25, has brought a thawing of relations with our European allies, as evidenced by Bushs somewhat successful diplomatic mission this week. In addition, George Bush may benefit from Jupiter a little beyond February 23 due to its transit to his natal Moon (3/1 3/11) and then square his natal Sun (3/28 4/4). These periods will be small pockets of optimism, protection, and expansive rhetoric, but will not preclude the dynamic and dislocating energy of Uranus as it dramatically enters the scene in late March. Also of significance in the past month, peaking on February 24, is the tertiary progressed Inaugural Ascendant square natal Neptune, the planet of illusion and deception. This has brought a sharp focus on the administrations tendency to deceive, obfuscate, and present an untrue image of itself and its policies to the public. The well-pilloried Bush budget, consisting of math that would shame a first grader, and the Gannon/Guckert expose of a partisan Republican plant in the White House press pool are the two big stories that relate to this aspect. Although the focus on administration deception and dishonesty is likely to fade for a few months after February 24, this aspect has brought us a preview of bigger things to come. From roughly May 2005 through August 2006, more lengthy progressions will renew the potential for scandals and the issue of dishonesty and deception permeating the Bush White House. The Inaugural Ascendant will reach the square to natal Neptune from May 2005 through January 2006, and the Inaugural solar arc progressed Ascendant will reach its square to Neptune from September 2005 through August 2006. As is becoming increasingly clear with each passing day, the Bush administration is one big shell game perpetrated upon the American people. Its glossily packaged policies and its heroic and moralistic image are frauds. Sinister and disdainful manipulation of the masses is its modus operandi. The Gannon/Guckert scandal is only the latest example of the administrations willingness to deceive the public, but it may have stepped on the wrong toes this time by riling a once-complacent media. Even some right wing commentators are incensed that a faux journalist was able to easily slip into the halls of power when others who are eminently more qualified have been forced to withstand months of intrusive investigation for the same privilege. Even if the mainstream media remains comatose in the face of the Bush regimes continuing crimes, the blogs are gaining impact daily as a potent, alternative news source. After all, nature abhors a vacuum. It remains to be seen what effect the explosive energy of Uranus will have when it comes thundering into expression early this spring and continues to pound away at the administration for many months thereafter. But we have to wonder if some of the sudden revelation inherent in this transit will be an exposure of what lives beneath the surface in the glitzy swamp at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It would be a welcome awakening.

Excellent Nancy, really excellent. I wonder if this is why nothing ever seems to stick?? http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/2/22/155525/061 "We are no longer working to preserve the status quo. One thing I notice especially during the freep attacks before the elections was that alot of great ideas started on the blogs got used and twisted in the conservative lingo and used against us. Posted by: bhakti on February 25, 2005 03:21 AMGreat Article!!! I can always depend on Astroworld to have articles rich also in astrological technique. I'm learning so much from you guys. I think that Bush's second term will always have that tendency for deception, and also self deception with Neptune in the second-term chart so close to the Sun on the MC. I think that one reason so many people are duped by this administration is because the administration really believes their own lies. This administration has fallen into the most negative and horrific qualities of Neptune - self-deception, self-righteousness, and a "God complex". Well, Chiron is also there on the MC conjunct Sun and that can only mean a "wounded" second-term. Maybe it will be Uranus' revolutionary instinct that will make the public see the administration for what it really is - corrupt and ugly. Posted by: Travieso on February 25, 2005 04:23 AMFantastic article, Nancy. By now it is almost a cliche, but to paraphrase: "Could you imagine if a gay male hooker with at least five active call boy/military fetish websites using a phoney name, and with no journalistic experience was allowed to sit several rows from the President, got favored treatment from the press secretary re his highly partisan questions, got advance access to CIA documents and was told by the white house precisely when the next war would start, and the Pres. in office was named "Clinton"? The Republicans would be going wild like rabid dogs, and the press would have it on the front pages the next day! As I have said before, if the dems don't show discipline and spine in keeping this huge story alive and putting it sqarely in front of the American people, they are truly hopeless losers. The only bad thing is that the American people will continue to lose big time too. Posted by: Grizzly on February 25, 2005 04:42 AMNancy, Pat C, Hollywood East is well articulated, Nancy! One question though....will the equinox coming so close to the Uranus transits have a major effect on the intensity of the transits? Posted by: Teresa on February 25, 2005 03:33 PMw - A great Sidney Blumenthal article about *'s trip! I have been waiting to hear the real scoop. Theresa - I just took a look at the equinox chart expecting some strong Uranian indication, which I can't really find. The tightest aspect is the mars Moon opposition, which would seem to imply the people (Moon and Moon as ruler of the 4th house0 are angry at the government and the president (Mars is in the 10th and the ruler of the Sun). This is however somewhat offset by the trine between Venus and the Moon. Saturn conjunct the IC is also a strong aspect and suggestive of difficulties. Some of this connects back to the troubles in the Inaugural chart, the chart of the adminsitration. Uranus will be square the Moon in that chart, and the Moon rules the 4th house. This Uranus transit (to Bush's Mars and Inaugural Moon 3/28 to 4/15) has three phases: late March and April; August; and mid January to early February. Each phase will relate to the previous one but be the next level of transformation. There are some indications that the beginning part of phase one will go well for Bush or at least he will come across with aggression and bluster. Transiting Jupiter will be square his Sun and Inaugural Venus: 3/28 to 4/4. Suggestive of an aggressive response of some kind is the progressed US Moon square progressed Mars (which is waning quincunx US prog MC): 4/4 to 5/4. But two other transits suggest complications or difficulties: transiting Pluto will be retrograding and moving to its exact quincunx with Inaugural Saturn 3/26 to 6/5. And Cheney's got Saturn coming in to exact opposition his Venus (ruler of his MC) 3/22 to 4/25. So it would seem Bush responds initially with aggression and bluster, which takes on a life of its own, but then causes trouble for the administration, tying its hands in some way. At least some of this could relate to the Gulf War going contrary to plan with progressed War Moon quincunx natal Saturn which already has progressed MC opposite natal Saturn. Maybe the new government throws out the US oil companies and the US government and declares sharia law? Maybe Seymour Hersh (whose aritcle on Abu Graib when Jupiter was stationary square US Uranus started it all) will come out with the article Scott Ritter mentioned that says the Iraqi elections were fixed. Very interesting artice, Nancy, and your "Comments" add even more dimension. The Anvil, Mr. Mike? Why, that just can't be! While here, Guido and Ouida May would sometimes go to a quiet gathering place caled The Angel. Surely you misunderstood. To all: According to this fellow, the end is in sight and it ain't pretty. Sigh O sigh O: http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0225/dailyUpdate.html Canada shuns missile defense Though decision rankles Washington, Ottawa marches to a different drum as it increases defense budget. Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin announced Thursday that his government will not participate in a US missile defense system. The decision by Mr. Martin, who had earlier signaled he favored signing on to the system, was an acknowledgement of the "deep unpopularity among Canadians of President Bush and his administration's project to try to shoot down missiles headed toward the United States," reports The Washington Post. 'We will continue to work in partnership with our southern neighbors on the common defense of North America,' Martin said. 'However, ballistic missile defense is not where we will concentrate our efforts.' His decision has more political than practical effect, because Canada agreed last August to allow its operators at the North American Aerospace Command [NORAD] center in Colorado to share information on incoming missiles, a key concession sought by the United States. Paul Cellucci, the outgoing US Ambassador to Canada, said he was "perplexed" by the decision, reports the Associated Press. Acknowleging that Martin heads up a minority government that "could fall over such a contentious debate," nevertheless Mr. Cellucci said the decision effectively "allows Washington to decide what to do if a missile was headed toward Canada," says AP. Posted by: Pat C on February 25, 2005 05:10 PMThis is actually the part of the Bush/Putin interview that caught my attention, it is still the journalists interpretation of the exchange... ~ snip ~ Bush and Putin hoped to keep their joint appearance focused on their agreements and close ties. One curious, rambling query gave them something to unite around irritation with their questioner. "The regimes in place in Russia and the U.S. cannot be considered fully democratic, especially when compared to some other countries of Europe, for example for example, the Netherlands," the Russian reporter said, his preamble taking so long that Bush pursed his lips in apparent impatience. He then asked Bush how the "great powers that have been assumed by the security services" in the United States since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks square with democratic values. "We could probably talk at length," the journalist said. Bush clearly wasn't interested in that. He offered a brisk retort that democracy is doing just fine in America. "I live in a country where decisions made by government are wide open and people are able to call people to me to account, which many out here do on a regular basis. Our laws and the reasons why we have laws on the books are perfectly explained to people," he said. Putin, staging his own defense of Russian democracy, took all the talk about the Netherlands to heart. He said it's unproductive to compare which country is more democratic. Then he couldn't resist a little dig. "You have cited a curious example, the Netherlands," Putin glared. "The Netherlands is a monarchy, after all." ~ snip ~ Posted by: Morgana on February 25, 2005 05:44 PMMorgana, i heard this exchange on NPR and just laughed my fool head off. http://forum.truthout.org/blog/story/2005/2/24/183243/756 Posted by: wv on February 25, 2005 07:38 PMWednesday's Christian Science Monitor contains an interesting insight into why Ahmad Chalabi withdrew his bid to be Iraq's prime minister: Over the weekend, SCIRI leader Abdel-Aziz Hakim met with Chalabi and offered to make him the top financial overseer in Iraq, responsible for the oil, trade, and finance ministries in exchange for him withdrawing, according to the SCIRI official. http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0222/p06s02-woiq.html Now if you were a smart embezzler, which would you rather be -- prime minister, or the guy in charge of contracts and oil money? Right now it looks like the best outcome anyone can realistically imagine in Iraq -- the outcome that doesn't involve civil war and the kind of complete social collapse that made Afghanistan a happy home for terrorists -- is something that may not be worse than Saddam, but, if you're one of the out groups, doesn't look like much of an improvement either. With the near certainty of Ibrahim Jafari becoming prime minister, it's impossible to conceive of women's rights being equal to what they were in pre-war Iraq. Jafari was behind a move last year to make sharia the legal basis for family law. An "ayatollah in a suit." As Juan Cole recently discussed, the American press tends to portray him as a "secularist," but that's like calling George Bush a democrat. He makes a few noises in the direction of the ideal, but actions speak louder. http://bodyandsoul.typepad.com/blog/ Posted by: Jo on February 25, 2005 07:45 PM"The United States makes 50% of all the weapons that are being exported around the world. So there're clearly winners and losers. And if you have stocks in those corporations I just mentioned, you're raking it in, man. It's a picnic for you. OK: How has the increase in media concentration affected this? DB: In Ben Bagdikian's /Media Monopoly/ in 1983, he said there were 50 corporations that control most of the media. Then it became 28, then 23, then 14. Then 10. Then, in his latest book, it's down to 5. 5 corporations control the media. And by the media, I don't just mean TV. I mean Hollywood movies, radio, DVDs, magazines, newspapers, books, books on tapes, CDs. 5 corporations. From 1983 to today, 2005, increase in concentration in the media has paralleled that of state and corporate power, and also of the increasing tendency of the United States to become even more aggressive and militaristic: witness the invasion of Grenada, the invasion of Panama, the first Gulf War, the bombing of Yugoslavia, the invasion and ongoing occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq." http://electroniciraq.net/news/1886.shtml Posted by: Jo on February 25, 2005 09:36 PM

That person, who at the time seemed like a joke to night-desk editors--who "know everything," even what cannot be published, or cannot be given prominence of place, or can be given prominence of place, with a wink--was the destroyer of the Israeli left, Ehud Barak. It is from this man that Tanya Reinhart's book begins, and the fact that the government is now headed by his military mentor, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon--who also did not know which party to join after the Israel Defense Forces--is only a minor element in the structure of parallels and similarities between the two. The main thing is that the elder of the two established the "project" of Jewish settlement in the territories, and the younger gave it the official seal of approval of the Zionist left, even before he became prime minister. Reinhart examines the closeness between the two with great precision. http://www.counterpunch.com/laor02262005.html Posted by: Jo on February 26, 2005 11:23 PMD#%@ these folks are decadent, disgusting, dangerous, deceitful, down and dirty, degenerates! What is stimulated in the Inaugural chart (the administration's birth chart) is Uranus square the Moon, ruler of the 4th house. I think the adminsitration will be upset, very agitated, and irritable, with things hitting from unexpected places. What is hit in Bush's chart is Mars, ruler of his MC. This suggests a big shift of focus, a big change in reputation and how he puts himself into the world. Since Mars is in his 2nd house, perhaps it will have to do with some financial unraveling. I have done a lot of astrology with the dates that I could find and have yet to find Johnny Gosh birth day. Looking looking looking. Even though I may get a "razzie" on some of the astrology I have done this year, kinda 0 correctness. the astrology makes sense that this may be true. He is some place between 31 and 36 at this time. As a result, some Republicans are reported to be talking about a compromise in which they would agree to some kind of tax increase, probably a rise in the maximum level of earnings subject to the payroll tax. They would offer to use the revenue from that tax increase, rather than borrowed funds, to establish private accounts, thereby assuaging fears about the huge debt buildup that would take place under the administration's plan. They might even agree to make private accounts an add-on to traditional benefits, not a replacement. But it would still be a bad deal. Creating private accounts in the current environment, no matter how they are financed, would be a mistake. First, think about the fiscal implications. We have a huge budget deficit, largely caused by Mr. Bush's decision to cut taxes while waging war. Any realistic plan to bring the budget deficit under control will have to include tax increases, especially if we want to avoid the harsh cuts the administration is trying to impose on Medicaid and other essential programs. There may be a place for a rise in the payroll tax maximum in such a plan: AARP, among other groups, has proposed such a rise as one way to improve the Social Security system's long-run finances. Devoting the extra revenue to the trust fund would also reduce the overall budget deficit. But if the revenue from a rise in the payroll tax maximum was used to subsidize private accounts rather than to bolster the trust fund, it wouldn't address any urgent priorities: it wouldn't help the long-run finances of Social Security, it wouldn't reduce the budget deficit, and it wouldn't support crucial programs like Medicaid. What it would do, instead, would be to get in the way of any return to fiscal sanity. After all, raising the maximum taxable income would be a fairly stiff tax increase for some taxpayers. For example, someone making $140,000 a year might owe an extra $6,000. And the taxpayers who would be hit hardest by this tax increase would, in many cases, be the same people who will face a growing burden from the alternative minimum tax. As a result, an increase in the payroll tax maximum would make it much harder to pass other tax increases, frustrating efforts to do something about the deficit. Furthermore, it's all too likely that any compromise that created private accounts would turn into a Trojan horse that let the enemies of Social Security inside the gates. This might happen almost immediately, as a result of the legislative process. As you may have noticed, moderates don't run Congress. Suppose that a moderate senator thinks he has struck a deal for fully funded private accounts that don't directly undermine traditional Social Security. Almost surely, he would be kidding himself: by the time the conference committees were done with the legislation, the funding would be gone or greatly reduced, the accounts would be bigger, traditional benefits would have been cut, and the whole thing would have turned into a privatization wish list. Even if that didn't happen, private accounts, once established, would be used as a tool to whittle down traditional guaranteed benefits. For example, conservatives would use the existence of private accounts, together with rosy scenarios about rates of return, to argue that guaranteed benefits could be cut without hurting retirees. In short, anyone who wants to see the nation return to fiscal responsibility, wants to preserve Social Security as an institution or both should be opposed to any deal creating private accounts. And there is also, of course, the political question: Why should any Democrat act as a spoiler when his party is doing well by doing good, gaining political ground by opposing a really bad idea? (Hello, Senator Lieberman.) The important thing to remember is why the right wants privatization. The drive to create private accounts isn't about finding a way to strengthen Social Security; it's about finding a way to phase out a system that conservatives have always regarded as illegitimate. And as long as that is what's at stake, there is no room for any genuine compromise. When it comes to privatization, just say no.
From Salon's War Room: Oh, that crazy Vladimir Each for its own reasons, CBS and the White House would both like to have the story of George Bushs National Guard service or lack thereof relegated to the ash heap of history. But the story continues to play itself out on two fronts, one fairly predictable and one that has caught the White House quite by surprise. First, the predictable. Back in early January, CBS Chairman Les Moonves fired Mary Mapes, the producer of the "60 Minutes" report on Bush's suspect service, and asked for the resignations of three other CBS employees who were involved in it. After extended negotiations, two of three resigned late last week. Senior producer Mary Murphy issued a conciliatory statement through her lawyer, and a source told the New York Times that Betsy West, a senior vice president for CBSs news division, had also resigned. That leaves only Josh Howard, an executive producer for "60 Minutes." Like Murphy and West, Howard has been talking to a lawyer. Now, the unexpected. When George Bush sat down with Vladimir Putin in Bratislava last week to deliver his long-awaited lecture on civil liberties and freedom of the press, Newsweek says Putin shot back with an attack of his own: "We didn't criticize you when you fired those reporters at CBS." Bush was apparently slack-jawed, and senior White House aides were angry. "Putin thought we'd fired Dan Rather," one administration official told Time. "It was like something out of '1984.'" Newsweek , rising to the defense of freedom of the press in these United States, says its "all too clear" that Putin sees the relationship between Bush and the American media as being just like his own. Presumably, that means that Putin thinks Bush controls the U.S. media in the same way that he controls the Russian media. We cant imagine where he got that idea. http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000818662 Richard A. Clarke Talks About Writing Regular Column for the 'N.Y. Paul Krugman's article, though excellent, may be missing something, wv. Part of the reason (i suspect) that the cabal is attempting to hasten through social security changes is for another reason altogether. Pallas or Pat C may be able to add another dimension to this but somehow the influx of capital as a result of the changes may put the u.s. on more solid footing with its debtors. This greedy horde does not care one whit about how their policies effect we the people. They DO care, however, about their own fat pockets. Re: the Gannon case. Three weeks ago, John Kerry told Don Imus that it was "way too early for anybody to be talking about" running for president in 2008. But as the Washington Post reports this morning, it might not be "too early" any more. With a slew of other Democrats making moves toward presidential runs, Kerry seems ready to make his first step now, too. On March 7, Kerry and his wife, Teresa, will host a gathering at their Washington, D.C., home to launch a new political action committee called Keeping America's Promise. Team Kerry says the purpose of Kerry's PAC is to strengthen the Democratic Party but also to "transform the infrastructure, energy and excitement from his presidential campaign into a permanent grass-roots organization that promotes the causes Kerry advocated on the campaign, and supports candidates up and down the ticket across the country." One Democratic media strategist put it another way: If Kerry wants to run again in 2008, Dan Payne told the Post, "This is the kind of thing he has to do." -- Tim Grieve Those tapes of George W. Bush -- the ones in which he admits to smoking marijuana, hints at cocaine use and plots his campaign for presidency -- seem to be gone for good now. After playing some of the tapes for the media and suggesting that the worst was yet to come, Doug Wead reversed course and said he shouldn't have betrayed the president. When Wead made his apologies last week, he said that he would work with his lawyer to get the tapes "back to the president to whom they belong." But that's not what Wead did, exactly. If he'd given the tapes back to the president, they might have been available for public review, albeit after Bush leaves office, under the Presidential Records Act. Instead, the New York Times reports this morning, Wead gave the tapes to Bush's private counsel. The distinction was not lost on the White House, where spokesman Trent Duffy said: "The tapes are in private hands, not at the White House, and as far as the White House is concerned, this is a closed matter." -- Tim G http://images.ucomics.com/comics/bo/2005/bo050228.gif The Chicago Tribune banned this Boondocks cartoon The fact that the country perceives the Republicans stronger on Integrity + Values is a problem for the Democrats/Liberals. Posted by: Sharon on March 1, 2005 06:40 PMwv, I don't get where Kerry thinks he should run again. A lot of people feel betrayed by him including myself. As for the *ush tapes, I find it hard to believe they are gone for good. I could be wrong but if it was me, I would have kept a copy for insurance. If he didn't then he's just stupid. Because frankly, I am fed up with the suggestion by the media that we liberals need to toe the family values line. And what are they anyway? The values of a church going, scout leader who also happens to be a serial killer? Those of a leader who starts a false war and sends so many to their deaths? The liars who steal public money and get away with it because they profess to be on the side of God?. I am fed up with it and I want these family values people to start paying attention to my values. Live and let live, do no harm, help when you can, be fair, do not judge others because of the way God made them, honor and recognize women as equals and love thy neighbor as thyself. There is truth and untruth. Yet in recent years there are those who have tried to blur the lines between the two. Values are values, family or not and if something is truly valuable there is a univeral truth to it and there can be no eqivocacy with untruth or selective values that only favor the few as opposed to the many. pparently I'm not the only astrologer calling attention to the fact that Pluto is approaching the Galactic Center (earth changes and magnetic pole change): "From Nolle's March 2005 site posted by Dover: Pluto at 24 Pluto's retrograde station at 24° 31' Sagittarius on the 26th is the other major celestial reversal of late March. Falling so close to sensitive points in the US Declaration of Independence (opposite Mars) and Federal Reserve (conjunct Venus) charts, as well as conjunct the Galactic Center, this particular Pluto station seems to point to significant developments focusing on the American economy and financial system. Falling so close to the Saturn station in Cancer, I suspect this is part and parcel of the dollar decline trend - but a new contribution to that momentum. And since both stations are within a degree of exact all month, the triggering event could happen anytime at all in March . . . perhaps in association with the March 7 Mars opposition to Saturn. Given that both stations portend uncertainty and a reversal of previous trends, it's hard to envision a scenario where the financial markets do much of anything other than take profits and retrench. And again, this may already be in progress as the month gets underway . . ." http://www.astropro.com/forecast/predict/2005-03.html Good grief. Wolfowitz might head the World Bank!!
In one of the most intriguing stories of the day, the Financial Times reports that Paul Wolfowitz, the US deputy secretary of defence and one of the chief hawks in the Bush administration, is on the short list to succeed James Wolfensohn as president of the World Bank. The worldbankpresident blog describes the report as a bombshell as it would be a controversial choice. You can stay that again. Of course it would not be the first time that someone from the Pentagon has headed the world's leading development institution. That distinction belongs to Robert McNamara, who came to grief over the Vietnam war. He ran the Bank from 1968 to 1981, in what could be seen as a very public act of contrition for his conduct of the war. Any similarities end there. Wolfowitz as far as we know has no regrets about the war. He also has no background in development, although that has been no hindrance to past candidates. As far as the White House is concerned, it wants someone who carries clout on Capitol Hill, as one of the main jobs of the World Bank president is to pass the begging bowl in Congress to get money for the institution. That is why in the past non-entities such as Barber Conable, a congressman, was given the job. Wolfowitz of course would carry an enormous amount of prestige. No doubt he would be a controversial choice for the developing world, but he would fit perfectly into the White House world view. The Bush administration is on a mission to spread democracy around the world - albeit on a highly selective basis. For George Bush, countries such as Burma and Iran are "outposts of tyranny", but he would not dream of lumping friends of the US such as China, Russia and Saudi Arabia into that category. Be that as it may, one can easily see Wolfowitz using World Bank loans to promote democracy around the world. To give him his due, Wolfowitz has consistently pushed democracy. Back in the 1980s, when he was assistant secretary of state for east Asia, Wolfowitz played a key role in levering out President Ferdinand Marcos from the Philippines once the people had turned against him. Of course the question arises as to whether Wolfowitz would really leave his Pentagon perch, where he wields much more influence than he would at the World Bank Posted by: Nancy on March 2, 2005 01:48 AMNancy I posted that story at 5:04 PM with the snide remark since Chalibi was going to be busy they
Prophecy, Popes & the Antichrist It's uncertain whether the third secret of Fatima was ever truly revealed, though Hogue suggested the version that Cardinal Ratzinger released in 1960, which he interpreted as describing a cataclysmic outcome to the Cuban missile crisis, may have been it. We're in the era of the third antichrist that Nostradamus foresaw, said Hogue, who believes this person will become known as such within the next four or five years. In one of his quatrains, Nostradamus named this antichrist as Mabus. The most likely candidates to be Mabus, based on anagrams, are either Usama (Bin Laden) or GW Bush, noted Hogue. He also related a Nostradamus quatrain, that refers to "Dubieux" or the dubious one, which he thinks may be a reference to Bush's nickname Dubya. From his study of "political astrology," Hogue predicts Bush will enter a difficult time frame running from the end of July through October. Pat C, There is nothing of a humanitarian nature to be seen, heard , smelt, or gleaned from any appearance or action Wolfowitz has ever taken. "To give him his due, Wolfowitz has consistently pushed democracy. Kind of like the Shah of Iran, Pinochet, Papa Doc and oh yes...whatshisname - Saddam? No, Wolfowitz would not be put into the World Bank as a humanitarian -the G-8ers who bring countries to bankruptcy and their knees with their loans, and enslave the countries' peoples to work for lower wages and less benefits. He would be being put in to further ripen countries to be taken over - and plunder their resources. Nor would he be welcomed asking for any money from Congress after he couldn't explain what happened to the first 80 billion that was allotted to "reconstruction" of Iraq much less why he was asking for more. That was one grilling that C Span showed that I was glued to - watching Such an appointment would be one more confirmation to Washington that the judgment of the administration is looney. But none is confirmed - Meanwhile, more Nostrodamus on the Three Antichrists: Nostradamus - The Third AntiChrist.
Firstly the antichrists represented world powers and were able to motivate and inspire large number of followers. Both Hitler and Napoleon were leaders of the most powerful nations at their time. They had the will and the means to achieve their goals no matter the cost and the consequences. They were able to sell their ideas to their followers and convince whole nations to participate in their plans. The political and economic circumstances needed firm and resolute actions. The antichrists brought hope and strength. It was the objection by other nations that finally set off the slaughter between mankind. The cost and the consequences were large-scale death, destruction and suffering for France, Europe and the world in general. It seems logical that the third antichrist will fit in, in that same way. He must be the leader of a most powerful nation at a certain moment in time. A man with the will and means to achieve his goals no matter the consequences. This leader will be loved by its own people and will lead them to believe that they deserve more and better. Under his leadership his own country will flourish and expand. In the first stages, this antichrist will point out external enemies to give strength to his strategies. He will strive for a strong military and a stronger control on his own people, their opinions and actions. The antichrist and his close followers have the uncanny ability to convince people of the right of their actions and their methods. Under other circumstances these methods would be unnecessary, unacceptable, wrong or illegal. In order to expand his power, established international agreements get canceled or changed. Rules that apply to all countries and people will not be allowed to apply to him or his people. The antichrist will follow a strategy of expansion: nations will be manipulated, countries invaded and control of natural resources reallocated in order to improve the quality of life of his own people and to ensure their safety. The consequences of the growth and success of this one nation will negatively affect other countries. Initially the politics followed, will cause unrest, discussion, frustration, doubts, unbelief etcetera but no actions. The stronger and more influential the nation of the antichrist is, the longer it takes for other countries to take defensive measurements. When countries finally stand up and join together against this power it will be the beginning of large-scale destruction.

Investigators are to install detectors beneath the Pyramid of the Sun that look for muons charged particles generated when cosmic rays hit the atmosphere which continuously shower the Earth. They hope the rate at which muons pass through the pyramid will reveal any hidden burial chambers inside. The step pyramid, about 30 miles north-east of Mexico city, is 740 feet on each side, 215 feet tall, and thought to date back 2,000 years. No-one knows who erected the monument, one of the biggest pyramids in the Americas, or why. The site was abandoned 600 years before the arrival of the Aztecs, who named it The City of the Gods. There has been speculation that the pyramid was used for burial, as was the nearby Pyramid of the Moon built 200 years later. But although several tunnels have been cut through the monument by archaeologists, all they uncovered was earth and rock. The new technique should at last unlock any secrets the pyramid conceals. Scientists plan to install six box-shaped muon detectors in an ancient tunnel running 26ft below the base of the pyramid. Experts believed the pyramid was built on top of the tunnel, which runs directly below the middle of the monument. Each metre-wide detector will act as an eye looking upwards in search of muons. More.... Posted by: Pat C on March 2, 2005 05:57 AMPat C that is fascinating, thanks for this information and it's certainly something all should watch. There was also a blurb on the news several weeks ago that said a hidden chamber under the Sphinx was being explored for the possibility of opening it. This relates to a Cayce prediction. Travieso, oh my gosh would it be great to have an African Pope. Not sure what I think about the dream, I don't think the Pope will live past mid-May but I don't know how he will die. Did you ever see the movie "The Shoes of the Fisherman" with Anthony Quinn? It's an old movie but it was fantastic, he became Pope and gave all their money and riches away to the poor of the world. I recommend it if you can find a copy. Posted by: Sally on March 2, 2005 06:23 AMSally, which prediction? Can you recall what he said? Posted by: Pat C on March 2, 2005 06:48 AMPat C, I think I remember that movie. My aunt was so much into Catholic prophecy that she really believed it was close to the end of the Roman church. I have heard this before...something about we are in the time of the last two Popes. Pat C, after looking at Bush's Chart and his second term chart, do you think that he will be assassinated or fall into ill health? It doesn't look good with Uranus and transits with Saturn in the spring and summer. I just have this feeling that he will not be around soon. I really believe this Spring and summer are really crucial. What do think? Posted by: Travieso on March 2, 2005 01:10 PM
