In response to one of our readers I am taking a look at tonight’s press conference. It certainly qualifies as an event since this is only the third one since GWB took office.
Alas, alack, I did not see nor hear the speech, I did not see who was called upon to present the “served up” questions. As the fates would have it I was tied up in meetings all day, and they were the type where there is “more said than done.” I talked to two friends when I got home and listened to what I knew would be predictable responses (one conservative, one liberal) I also listened to about 10 minutes of Charlie Rose and a panel of editorial writers (conservative and liberal mix) discussing their impressions.
Armed with a small smattering of information I ploughed into The Press Conference Chart. (April 13, 2004 at 9:01pm in Washington, DC. My initial overall impression was nothing. He said nothing, nothing that would be remembered or would impress people (except of course those who get paid for promoting him at all costs)
Venus, in the 8th house at 9 degrees Gemini conjunct the fixed star Aldebaran, square retrograde Jupiter in the 10th house. I have written of Aldebaran before, he is one of the 4 archangels and relates to Michael the Warrior Angel. Ebertin says Aldebaran conjunct Venus would indicate “a misuse of power.” That would certainly fit with the square to Jupiter in the 10th house.
Normally a Venus/Jupiter square isn’t a negative but when sitting astride Aldebaran the tendency to misuse power would and could be a powerful aphrodisiac and as if to reinforce that message the Asteroid Apollo also conjuncts Venus. Wherever Apollo resides is where you refuse to learn from your lessons. Ok, so that’s not new. But, it’s the lovely Kassandra giving everyone a case of “huh, what did he say, what did that mean, who’s he talking to.”
Ah yes, Kassandra, the asteroid conjuncting the North Node in the 7th House. Kassandra doesn’t listen because she doesn’t hear very well. Further interpretation would be “we are not hearing what is being said, and the speaker is not listening to what he’s being told. I went to a lecture tonight and listened to a panel of speakers under the same aspects and I could not tell you what any of them said, I can tell you I was bored beyond belief.
One of our readers said the ascendant was in Libra; it was in Scorpio because the chart is set for Washington, DC, 10 degrees Scorpio and the mid-heaven was at 18 Leo, ruled by the Sun. The Sun is in a weakened position in the 6th house and squares Chiron. The Sun in the 6th, ruling our foot soldiers. We will hear more about the possibility of a draft in May. This Sun is also coming to a square to GWB’s Saturn, and conjunct his mid-heaven, an ego wound and possibly a public one. I doubt if he willingly gave a press conference.
No less than 5 planets conjunct house cusps, something of great importance was said tonight, something we need to know. Several conjunctions to house cusps are indicative of important action. With the North Node in the 7th house on the 7th house cusp, I would say Bush knows he is going to have to play nice with others and needs their help but he will still want it his way or no way.
Finally, Mercury is retrograde, and nothing came out as he intended. A friend of mine told me that he said something like “without 9/11 the people would never have let us go into Afghanistan.” I cannot confirm that statement, but if he did say such a thing that is an important Freudian slip of the tongue, a big slip. Guilt is a funny thing and rears it’s head with the truth when a person is least expecting it to do so.
Pluto in the 2nd house and the Moon on the 4th house cusp, three degrees away from a sextile to Pluto would say money will be needed and we will pay it.
Without going into all the astrological aspects let me say again, Bush, Sr. needs to take extreme care with his health. He has a lot of nervous energy being set off right now and that can point to heart attack or stroke. With GWB’s Saturn on his Sun could mean the loss of the father. At the very least there is one massive family fight going on and his father is under a great deal of stress due to some recent events. He will remain under extreme stress throughout this next year, but this next week will be intense for the family dynamics.
Our President has something new up his sleeve and it will require others to carry it out, he already knows who the “others” will be and he believes that his “new” approach to Iraq will resolve the problems there. This will be his last chance to prove he can clean up the mess he created. Venus and Aldebaran on the US Uranus rules the 7th house of partners in this chart and the North Node. I think the “war” with Iraq will escalate (by way of the US) with disastrous and explosive consequences by 2005, the results of which will destroy GWB’s reputation.
I will say what I have been saying for a year, I don’t know that GWB will be the GOP Candidate, and I have never thought that Kerry will actually run. I am not sure what is going to happen at this point, it could be Marshall Law or a massive scandal affecting nearly everyone in Congress, but I do know that it is going to be a situation that has never happened before in the United States.
As far as Yellowstone and could this massive build up of energy not be political but geophysical instead? YES! There are several websites regarding the problem in Yellowstone and you won’t have any problem at all accessing the latest information. I am a person who holds positive thoughts in all possible outcomes and there are a ton of psychics who are predicting a Yellowstone eruption, and they have been doing so for years. I expect they will continue predicting the eruption and eventually they will be right. I figure they got tired of predicting the “big one” in California and this is a really great focus because of the ominous bubbles.
“Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it,” (Mission Impossible, TV series) is work on our fears.
In my other job, I have been writing contracts for days and I am writing this very early in the morning, without, of course, editing. All you good Virgo's out there can just slip me an email if the corrections are glaring.

Sally, what a surprise getting a whole new article in such a short time! I found it extremely interesting your use of asteroids and fixed stars, etc. I would like to learn more about them.
My positive thoughts go out to Bush Sr. He MUST be distressed and irritated at current events and his son's handling of things. Whatever you want to say about the Bush's, I always thought Sr. had the best interests of the country at heart and was able to say "no" to his advisors when he didn't agree with them, something Jr. never learned.
I watched a little of the press conference and I thought he did awful, but my husband (who is liberal) thought he spoke from the heart! Isn't it funny the way we see things so differently?

Thank you, Sally, wonderful work! and a great help to understanding the mess we are in. The neocons certainly have the nerve to declare martial law and stop the election--at this point I believe they stop at nothing to gain and keep power. Re Bush Sr.--Nancy, I think, and others here have said something about an uptick in Bush's popularity in April/May. Sympathy for losing a parent would do that.

There was something Bush said early on in his speech that caught my ear... something to the effect he had instructed military to ake "decisive action" in Iraq... I do not like the sound of that... and you comment above that

I know we have had two articles in past day, but maybe someone could do a chart on this event? Sally, you said something on another thread about wishing there were more astrology comments, but for someone with my proficiency to make astrological comments here is like getting up to dance just after Ginger and Fred have taken their bows. Anyhow, here is my little shuffle.
We all want to be liked but I think George Bush grew up especially wanting to be liked. Venus in Leo in the lst looks like somebody who would play to the crowd. Moon conj Jupiter in "let everything be pleasant" Libra in the communicative 3rd, and of course, Sun in emotional Cancer hidden, hanging back in the 12th where Saturn is, too--looks like gauging people's reactions. Feeling his way along about what plays well and what doesn't.
I expect Barbara Bush was not exactly a "I Remember Mama" kind of Mama. Obviously George was never held to any standards but there were a lot of expectations for him. He's got the nodes in the family 4th and public career 10th and Pluto in the lst in showy Leo can't be easy for a child.
To get to the point I think George developed three modes of expression that work for him.
One is the "aw, shucks" mode. He used it as the front man for his many failed and bailed out businesses. He used it in the 2000 campaign, and he used it last night. This is the "I'm just a down to earth decent guy like you folks. Maybe I'm not glib like those cold smart-alec intellectuals who make fun of me, but my heart is in the right place and you can trust me to do the right thing." This is the "common man" cloak Bush uses to cover his sense of imperial entitlement.
Then there is the "High Noon/Destry Rides Again" mode. This is the "I'm a peaceable fellow but that outlaw is threatening to kill my family, burn the ranch, and kick my dog, so I'm strapping on my shootin' iron and calling him out." This plays well to the American public, too, although Tweetie Bird could have led a successful invasion of Iraq if Tweetie could get on the phone and issue a "go ahead" order to the Pentagon.
The third mode is the one I think is closest to Bush's true personality--the cute/nasty teaser, the hostile comic. From his vantage point--family power in his youth and his stolen position now--he gives those "below" him denigrating nicknames and challenges them to "playful" verbal exchanges they are forbidden to win.
A very effective con man, but not a real man. If he wasn't doing such terrible harm we could feel sorry for him.

I have been trying to put this into perspective in these world events, and I'm still not clear on how to apply it. How do I recognize the situation for what it is and avoid anger? How do I work to keep life as free as possible and not fight the present take-over? How do I save the starfish without acknowledging their imminent death when the tide goes out?
I have been giving thought to how I can do what is most constructive. Any light that anyone can offer would be most helpful to me.

New Reports on U.S. Planting WMDs in Iraq
BASRA -– Fifty days after the first reports that the U.S. forces were unloading weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in southern Iraq, new reports about the movement of these weapons have been disclosed.
Given the recent scandals to the effect that the U.S. president was privy to the 9/11 plot, they might try to immediately announce the discovery of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq in order to overshadow the scandals and prevent a further decline of Bush's public opinion rating as the election approaches.
Sources in Iraq speculate that occupation forces are using the recent unrest in Iraq to divert attention from their surreptitious shipments of WMD into the country.
An Iraqi source close to the Basra Governor's Office told the MNA that new information shows that a large part of the WMD, which was secretly brought to southern and western Iraq over the past month, are in containers falsely labeled as containers of the Maeresk shipping company and some consignments bearing the labels of organizations such as the Red Cross or the USAID in order to disguise them as relief shipments.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that Iraqi officials including forces loyal to the Iraqi Governing Council stationed in southern Iraq have been forbidden from inspecting or supervising the transportation of these consignments. He went on to say that the occupation forces have ordered Iraqi officials to forward any questions on the issue to the coalition forces. Even the officials of the international relief organizations have informed the Iraqi officials that they would only accept responsibility for relief shipments which have been registered and managed by their organizations.
The Iraqi source also confirmed the report about suspicious trucks with fake Saudi and Jordanian license plates entering Iraq at night last week, stressing that the Saudi and Jordanian border guards did not attempt to inspect the trucks but simply delivered them to the U.S. and British forces stationed on Iraq's borders.
However, the source expressed ignorance whether the governments of Saudi Arabia and Jordan were aware of such movements.
A professor of physics at Baghdad University also told the MNA correspondent that a group of his colleagues who are highly specialized in military, chemical and biological fields have been either bribed or threatened during the last weeks to provide written information on what they know about various programs and research centers and the possible storage of WMD equipment.
The professor also said these people have been openly asked to confirm or deny the existence of research or related WMD equipment. A large number of these scientists, who are believed to be under the surveillance of U.S. intelligence operatives, have claimed that if they refuse to comply with this request, they may be killed or arrested on charges of concealing the truth if these weapons are found by the Bush administration in the future.
He said that the Iraqi scientists believe their lives would be in danger if they decline to cooperate with the occupation forces, especially when they recall that senior U.S. officer Michael Peterson once said, "Iraqi scientists are at any case a threat to the U.S. administration, whether they talk or not."
A source close to the Iraqi Governing Council said, "In the meantime, many suspect containers disguised as fuel supplies have been moved about by some units of the U.S. special forces. The move has been carried out under heavy security measures. Also, there are unofficial reports that the containers held biological and bacteriological toxins in liquid form. It is possible that the news about the discovery of the WMDs would be announced later."
He also said that such mixtures had been used by the Saddam regime in the 1990s.
The source added that some provocative actions such as the closure of Al-Hawza periodical by U.S. administrator Paul Bremer, the secret meetings between his envoys with some extremist groups who have no relations with the Iraqi Governing Council, the sudden upsurge in violence in central and southern Iraq, a number of activities which have stoked up the wrath of the prominent Shia clerics, and finally, the spate of kidnappings and the baseless charges against the Iranian charge d'affaires in Baghdad are providing the necessary smokescreen for the transportation of the WMD to their intended locations.
He said they are quite aware that the White House in cooperation with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has directly tasked the Defense Department to hide these weapons. Everyone: CNN.com wants to know if Bush gave a "convincing performance." Go vote. (The Noes have it thus far.)
What I kept hearing in the speech was that Iraqi was important because we where "going to change the world." I heard him use that phrase at least 3 times. He really thinks he can do it.
If you can get the streaming audio. A trick that someone might use. I learned this in psycology. If you take the tapes of a group session and lower the volume, then what you hear are what the subconcious and truthful and important things that the client is saying.
I was half zoned out and the "change the world" phrase was coming thru loud and clear. The thing about the written question also came thru clear.
Barbara, good analysis, very good. Pat, I am right there with ya. It's HARD. What works for me (sometimes) is to remember that these times are necessary for what will come after. Be the peace, it's the only way.
Barbara, great analysis, I love the "cutsy" description. Do you think that's the Mercury/Pluto conj. or Sun in the 12th? "playful verbal exchanges they are forbidden to win." That's a good one, I never quite thought of it that way but of course that's exactly what happens. Well done, well put.
You are right about Venus in the 1st (Promises more that they will deliver) that's the charm placement alright. That old argument "nature or nuture" seems to play out right here with GWB. He was carefully taught to be this way because his chart promises more from his spirit that what we see. People don't just dislike George, they really dislike George. We don't know him and yet the majority around the world feel absolute disguest at the sight of him. We are responding to something rotten there.

From a transcript of the Imperial Appearance last night. Is this the first shoe, the warm-up? (I got to the transcript through Salon.)

And one of the things was, he was amazed at how deceptive the Iraqis had been toward UNMOVIC and UNSCOM, deceptive in hiding things.
"We knew they were hiding things. A country that hides something is a country that is afraid of getting caught, and that was part of our calculation. Charlie confirmed that.
"He also confirmed that Saddam had the ability to produce biological and chemical weapons. In other words, he was a danger. And he had long-range missiles that were undeclared to the United Nations. He was a danger. And so we dealt with him."
Sally, thank you so much. I didn't watch last night because I just can't bring myself to look or listen to that creature. It's just too heartbreaking to hear the lies and know at the same time how much people are suffering. The thought of martial law makes me crazy and I'd like to ask/suggest that we all, ALL focus on a very positive outcome in November, please. Fear is the enemy and if we can do a ripple effect of hope and positive vision, maybe we can get ourselves out of this mess. I don't mean to sound like Pollyanna, but really, we need HOPE right now.
There is some talk about the Sears Tower in Chicago being in danger April 19, 2004. It was first seen by some obscure Numerology work on some radio or TV show. Astology does show this.
Charts: The Tower opened 5/3/1973, no time. I could not find the start of the building.
Chicago founded 12/4/1674, no time.
Chicago incorporated as town 8/12/1833 and as a city 3/4/1837.
On the 19th there is an eclispe at 8:35 Chicago time at 29 Aries. I used this chart for comparing the other charts. I tend to use orbs that are very small, usually 1 degree.
The eclispe chart has Mercury at 25 Aries which is exact Tower Mercury at 25 Aries. Eclispe Mars is conjunct Tower Saturn. Eclispe Uranus is conjunct Tower Neptune 1 degree.
The eclispe chart to the founding chart. Eclispe Venus is opposed founding Sun. Eclispe Saturn is inconjunct founding Neptune. On the noon chart eclispe Uranus is cojunct ascendent. Eclipse Pluto is square founding Uranus. Eclispe Pluto is trian founding Saturn. Eclispe Neptune is inconjunct founding Pluto. Eclispe Pluto is inconjunct S. Node.
On the founding chart Uranus is trian S. Node. There is also a yod in the chart. Mars at 14 Tarus Pluto at 15 Cancer and the Sun at 13 Sag. Eclispe Venus makes an oppositiong to the Sun.
Incorporated city chart. (ICC) Eclispe Venus is square ICC Sun. Eclipe Uranus conjuncts ICC Uranus Neptune conjuncts ICC Moon and Mercury. The only significant transit on the Incorporation as a town is eclipe Uranus opposed to town Mercury.
The Aries Ingress has Pluto on the Ascendent when located at Chicago and the Moon is 21 Pices, 3rd House. This Moon is at the exact mid point of Mars/Pluto chart of April 24. And Ingress Chart Venus is sq the eclispe Neptune.
Note: My computer program is often wrong by a few degrees. I have no way to do progressions or arcs. We do need a few of them to see if all these transits are truly significant. But they sure do wave red flags, esp considering the info that Nancy gave us for April 24. Certainly a time period to watch and little time to wait. We will soon know. Incidently the same people who owned or leased the Twin Towers have now leased the Sears Tower. There is a thread about this on noeltyl.com forum.

Another excellent overview, Sally. And yes, we must all work on our individual and collective fears. But, isn't all fear a mask for anger? I weap for the Iraqi people, for those men and women who have wittingly or unwittingly volunteered (to date) to bring a so-called peace to the Middle East. I admit to being so angry at times that I do indeed spit!
We are building fourteen military bases in Iraq. It's not just oil we're after, but substantial military presence in the Middle East.
We've discovered that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction but they will now.
No wonder Bush, Sr. is having a hissy. His son is upsetting the applecart -- all those cushy international alliances are now being tested. Indeed, the news in the very near future may hold clues about newly formed alliances between former enemies.
If i were head of state of any country and heard Bush talk about bringing peace to the world, I'd be a little suspicious.

Sally, you mentioned you couldn't confirm whether shrub said that without 9-11 the people would never have supported going into Afghanistan. He did say that almost verbatim. (Unless the transcripts have been doctored, it will be there). My mouth flew open when I heard this, and I remember thinking that this will be a statement that will come back to bite him. It betrays a consciousness of guilt, just as you said in your analysis.
Mark Crispin Miller: "Bush is not an imbecile. He's not a puppet. I think that Bush is a sociopathic personality. I think he's incapable of empathy. He has an inordinate sense of his own entitlement, and he's a very skilled manipulator. And in all the snickering about his alleged idiocy, this is what a lot of people miss."
..."He has no trouble speaking off the cuff when he's speaking punitively, when he's talking about violence, when he's talking about revenge.
"When he struts and thumps his chest, his syntax and grammar are fine," Miller said.
"It's only when he leaps into the wild blue yonder of compassion, or idealism, or altruism, that he makes these hilarious mistakes."
At a public address in Nashville, Tenn., in September, Bush provided one of his most memorable stumbles. Trying to give strength to his case that Saddam Hussein had already deceived the West concerning his store of weapons, Bush was scripted to offer an old saying: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. What came out was the following:
"Fool me once, shame ... shame on ... you." Long, uncomfortable pause. "Fool me -- can't get fooled again!"
Played for laughs everywhere, Miller saw a darkness underlying the gaffe.
"There's an episode of Happy Days, where The Fonz has to say, `I'm sorry' and can't do it. Same thing," Miller said.
"What's revealing about this is that Bush could not say, `Shame on me' to save his life. That's a completely alien idea to him. This is a guy who is absolutely proud of his own inflexibility and rectitude."

Last night Bush was asked -
QUESTION: Thank you, Mr. President. In the last campaign you were asked a question about the biggest mistake you'd made in your life and you used to like to joke that it was trading Sammy Sosa.
You've looked back before 9/11 for what mistakes might have been made. After 9/11 what would your biggest mistake be, would you say? And what lessons have you learned from it?
BUSH: Hmm. I wish you would have given me this written question ahead of time so I could plan for it. (Laughter.)
John (sp), I'm sure historians will look back and say, gosh, he could have done it better this way or that way. You know, I just — I'm sure something will pop into my head here in the midst of this press conference, all the pressure of trying to come up with an answer. But it hasn't yet.

QUESTION: Except this evening. Well, I guess I just wonder if you feel that you have failed in any way. You don't have many of these press conferences where you engage in this kind of exchange. Have you failed in any way to really make the case to the American public?
BUSH: You know, that's — I guess if you put it into a political context, that's the kind of thing the voters will decide next November. That's what elections are about. They'll take a look at me and my opponent and say, let's see, which one of them can better win the war on terror? Who best can see to it that Iraq emerges as a free society?

He simply never answers a question... never takes responsibility... astrological comments on his chart above and three modes of delivery in particular speak to his psychological make-up --- a con man, able to switch his delivery to the audience (per Barbara's analysis above)... Miller also contends that when Bush is envisioning "a foreign-handed foreign policy," or observes on some point that "it's not the way that America is all about," Miller contends it's because he can't keep his focus on things that mean nothing to him.
"When he tries to talk about what this country stands for, or about democracy, he can't do it," he said.
This, then, is why he's so closely watched by his handlers, Miller says -- not because he'll say something stupid, but because he'll overindulge in the language of violence and punishment at which he excels.
"He's a very angry guy, a hostile guy. He's much like Nixon. So they're very, very careful to choreograph every move he makes. They don't want him anywhere near protestors, because he would lose his temper."

As managers of SBC’s financial investments they might well be accused of indirectly aiding and abetting the United States’ number one enemy.

Peg, yes! This whole thing is lined up like bowling pins. I suppose none of us should be surprised by that. All of the astrology has pointed out the sneaky, violent, win at all costs nature of this group of people, and they are all so interconnected.
I wouldn't want to be connected to any of them. What an acidic atmosphere it must be. I have a difficult time imagining any kind of friendship or real loyalty existing between them. As a friend of mine said the other day, "It will take the gods to get us out of this.". I think that may be the absolute truth. There is just too much power at play in these people. But Peg, if exposed, it would truly be a great step at removing the head of the hydra.
David may have a point regarding Sedna. The myth around Sedna is one of stealth, betrayel, cowardice, and rage. I'll just bet those violent seal hunters didn't, in gratitude, pour water into the mouths of their prey at the end of the hunt as Sedna demands, and Sedna, who dwells beneath the ocean with the dolphins and whales, in a constant state of fearful rage, demands her payment for the cruelty she experienced. It isn't a pretty story.
BTW, hunt is too dignified a word to use for what those men were doing as they went after the young seals.
I'm running a risk here, but somehow somebody dubbed that body "Sedna". Now, we're already arguing about Sedna's meaning, symbolism, etc. Who dubbed that planet (if it is one) Sedna? And why are we now demanding that the poor object adhere to myth? Tape Said to Be From bin Laden Offers 'Truce' to Europe
A man identifying himself as Osama bin Laden offered a ``truce'' to European countries that do not attack Muslims, saying it would begin when their soldiers leave Islamic nations, according to a recording broadcast Thursday on Arab satellite networks.
Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain quickly spurned what appeared to be an attempt to drive a wedge between Europe and America.
The tape, which ran in full at more than seven minutes, also vowed revenge against America for the Israeli assassination of Hamas founder Sheik Ahmed Yassin and denounced the United States as using the Iraq war for corporate profiteering.
``I announce a truce with the European countries that do not attack Muslim countries,'' the taped message said as the stations showed an old, still picture of al-Qaida leader.
The message said ``the door to a truce is open for three months,'' but the time frame could be extended. ``The truce will begin when the last soldier leaves our countries,'' the speaker said without elaborating.
A CIA spokesman said the agency was reviewing the tape to determine its authenticity.
Dia'a Rashwan, a Cairo expert on Islamic militants, said the voice sounded like bin Laden, although it deviated from his old pattern of labeling Europeans as ``the Crusader-Jewish alliance.''
The tape made clear overtures to Europeans, calling them ``our neighbors north of the Mediterranean,'' and tried to drive a wedge between Europe and the United States.

UNITED NATIONS - Some Iraqi nuclear facilities appear to be unguarded, and radioactive materials are being taken out of the country, the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog agency reported after reviewing satellite images and equipment that has turned up in European scrapyards.
The International Atomic Energy Agency sent a letter to U.S. officials three weeks ago informing them of the findings. The information was also sent to the U.N. Security Council in a letter from its director, Mohamed ElBaradei, that was circulated Thursday.
The IAEA is waiting for a reply from the United States, which is leading the coalition administering Iraq (news - web sites), officials said.
The United States has virtually cut off information-sharing with the IAEA since invading Iraq in March 2003 on the premise that the country was hiding weapons of mass destruction.
No such weapons have been found, and arms control officials now worry the war and its chaotic aftermath may have increased chances that terrorists could get their hands on materials used for unconventional weapons or that civilians may be unknowingly exposed to radioactive materials.
According to ElBaradei's letter, satellite imagery shows "extensive removal of equipment and in some instances, removal of entire buildings," in Iraq.
In addition, "large quanitities of scrap, some of it contaminated, have been transfered out of Iraq from sites" previously monitored by the IAEA.
In January, the IAEA confirmed that Iraq was the likely source of radioactive material known as yellowcake that was found in a shipment of scrap metal at Rotterdam harbor.
