New Moon Madness
The chart looks terrific, a triple grand water trine, all that great flowing energy. Right, Saturn in Cancer is trine the Moon/Sun at 1 Pisces 4 which is conjunct Uranus at 2 Pisces 41, trine the Midheaven (MC) at 4 Scorpio.
We find the Moon/Sun Uranus conjunction in the 2nd House. This flowing energy connects to Saturn which is bringing hard lessons to bear upon our country and people. This energy then links itself to the MC which is the House of the President. We find within that house the South Node, or as my Mother called it, the Dragon's Tail. Here is one of the areas where we will see the manifestation of Saturns power in living color. All the dark nasty secrets will come spilling out.
Got it America? The jobs are gone. The corporations and the government have betrayed the peoples trust. The National deficit is higher then it's been in the history of our nation and Bush has proceeded to loot the treasury and line the pockets of the big corporations with our tax dollars. Has America had enough pain yet? Give the man another four years and there will be nothing left of our nation or it's natural resources.
Uranus is packing some suprises and those seeds of chaos are just now being sown. The United States of America once the bastion of light and freedom has become a dark spectre haunting the world and ruling by fear. Fear of repraisal by the lieing Bush administration that is above the law. So since Bush and his thugs can ignore the law so then can we the People. The Supreme Court is as corrupt as the Administration it supports, and Congress turns a blind eye to Bush's treasonous acts.
These trines however are the perfect energy setup to bring karma to bear upon the heads of these thugs. With Mars at 10 degrees Taurus in the 4th House. The People have the resources within themselves to initiate change. Mars here is arousing the ire of the People, stoking the fires. Taurus brings it home, the sign of fertility and material possessions. Take a mans job, take his home and he is gona get angry and then he is going to take hold and move forward. American's do not cave in, nor do they lay down to be stepped upon by rich elitists. American's get up and change it. Nader can run all he wants, I have not heard a word out of him regarding the direction of our country, nary a word.
Jupiter is also a player being pressed and squeezed together being intercepted in the 8th House in Virgo. All that energy is funneled together with two inconjuncts. One with Neptune in Aquarius (really really deluded thinking), and another with Venus in Aries.
There is a dark water feel. In the meantime San Francisco has opened the door of equality to the gay and lesbian folks. Wedding bells chime and Bush is troubled, Arnold is stomping his feet and issuing edicts like he was a King as San Francisco brings forth the legal challenges in the courts. Gavin Newsome, gutsy laddie buck, I expect to see great things from him as the years progress. He's standing up for the People. This is just the beginning of civil disobedience that is appearing around the country. So what's Bush gona do, call out the National Guard, oops they're in Iraq.
New Moons, new dreams, it's time for some of us fifty somethings to go back to school and retool our earning skills. Americans are creative and wiley creatures despite what the top 2% are doing to the other 98% of us, subcultures, sub economies will arise.

Ahhhhh. Morgana music! The tune is sweet while the story is sad and difficult. Keep the music lilting. It makes the truth easier to hear.
Thank you for your way Morgana.
Nice one, Morgana!! That grand trine is deceptively sweet, isn't it. It can also be read as MC= the midoint of Sun/Saturn and Moon/Saturn and Uranus/Saturn. It is lonely at the top!!
This line of yours is interesting:
"This is just the beginning of civil disobedience that is appearing around the country."
With Pluto opposing the US Mars, we may well see some civil disobedience in the next few months. I haadn't thought of the current gay marriage events as part of that but surely it is, isn't it?
abso-f'inglutely, Morgana!!!! a great big ooops about to seek it's correction. I posted a gay marriage comment on the last thread, funny, funny synchronicity: "You all know about projection, of course: well, consider the comments from Bush to Brit Hume's "pretty face", the Canadian press secretary comparison, and what is going on now with the gay marriage issues. Isn't this all just very interesting????? Seems like love & sexuality are gonna be redefined despite repression, hunh?"
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/a/2004/02/19/national0929EST0526.DTL
Mayor Richard Daley said he would have "no problem" with Cook County issuing marriage licenses to gay couples in Chicago, the nation's third largest city.
Entering a national debate over gay marriage, Daley urged sympathy for same-sex couples because "they love each other just as much as anyone else."
Daley also dismissed a suggestion Wednesday that marriage between gay couples would undermine the institution.
"Marriage has been undermined by divorce, so don't tell me about marriage," he said. "Don't blame the gay and lesbian, transgender and transsexual community."
Daley said only the county clerk's office can issue marriage licenses, and he stopped short of saying he would follow San Francisco's Mayor Gavin Newsom by approving marriage licenses for same-sex couples.
County Clerk David Orr said he was "game to looking at options," but only if a consensus could be built between Daley, city and county government and advocacy groups.
"I'm fed up with people being discriminated against because of their sexual orientation," Orr said. "(But) whatever you do when it comes to challenging laws, you want it to be effective and not knee-jerk."

Bush's Gamble
President Bush has got himself into a tight spot. Most presidents like to kick off a campaign year by launching a battery of popular domestic programs they can harken back to when the autumn competition heats up. Not so George W. When budget season rolled around this year, he found himself so tightly wedged between a rock and hard place that any choice posed a risk—which has got Democrats drooling over the possibilities. The question is, can they make it pay off with the voters?
The president's budget proposal reflects an answer to the question keeping campaign strategists awake at night: how to appeal to your base and motivate core party members to come out and vote for you, while still inspring the confidence of those elusive creatures, the swing voters? Bush knows he's alienated folks right, left and center, so it seems only natural that he would try to reconcile with his traditional allies. It wouldn't be easy. Discretionary spending has climbed a record 27 percent since Bush took office, sparking howls of protest from traditional Republican budget hawks, to say nothing of the fact that funding sweeping federal programs like the No Child Left Behind Act makes local-rule Republicans queasy, to say the least.

not to start a debate, but no morgana, ralph is ALL ABOUT the direction of the country, that's his WHOLE THING, guess you haven't heard him.
but to make things clear, let's be real the only votes that are really up for grabs are the repubs, because a lot of them do not want bush..still some cannot vote dem..if ralph works his campaign right he'll be getting those voters which he only got 10 per cent of last time. (40 gore) i'd really love to see a chart on his role in 2004 if anyone can. these early water trines are really good for him.
worst case scenario he behaves as dean did and keeps the fire under the dems to be brave and not be wishy washy....the debates of 2000 had me standing on my head screaming at gore.
he never told the people bush had never been out of the country except for mexico, he never let the people know how unqualified bush was. he wanted to have manners with a THUG..
most of us feel for dean here, but we see astrologically that he is not the same man as last summer, that saturn has played on his head as of late in his own outward energy..i read here that kerry is at his strongest now! this terrifies me. he needs people in the south. that devil pat robertson sends people books (my mother!) tells them all sorts of lies, tells them you can never learn anything reliable from the internet..all those votes going for bush. he said 'bush deserved to win again' that bothered me infinitely more than the prediction. does anyone have a chart on him? when will God show the people his falsehood and his true follower?
the sex thing is TERRIBLE because it is taking away the attention of WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THIS COUNTRY, and what is happening with THE WAR..can't you see? who CARES? this should be an issue when our country is doing well, not when it is falling apart!!!!!!!! we have to keep our focus on the damage this country is costing people -- the lives, the limbs, the future of our economy, not sex! america, you americans!!! sex sex sex!!!!! what a bunch of dysfunctional idiots from the southern so called christians to the gays..shame on all of them -- stick to the damage this country is doing to LIFE!!!!!!
phew!

......Another issue that I think we need to work on -- I know we need to work on is welfare. They need to reauthorize welfare. I hope the Congress will reauthorize welfare. Welfare reform had worked. You need to have certainty as you plan your -- on how to help people become less dependent on government, and we need a welfare reform bill. And we'll push it, here in Washington.
And finally, the faith-based initiative -- I want to talk a little bit about that. My attitude is, if a program works, let's use it. If a program can help save somebody's life, it seems like to me that program ought to be allowed to access monies aimed at helping people help themselves. And yet, that's not the way it was here in Washington. Faith-based programs were discriminated against. There was a process argument. And governors are results-oriented people, and so am I. And it seems like to me, you ought have the flexibility, and people at your grass-roots level ought to have the flexibility to access taxpayers' money if they're able to meet common objectives.
Now -- and so -- well, I couldn't get the bill out of the Congress, so I just signed an executive order, which opened up federal grant money to faith-based groups, on a competitive basis.
We're also making sure that our bureaucracies don't say to faith-based groups, you can't be a faith-based group. If faith is part of being an effective program, it doesn't make sense to say to somebody, you can't practice your faith. And so we recognize here in Washington faith-based programs are a two-way street -- one, there's a federal interface, and two, that sometimes can be frightening to people of faith. And by the way, I'm talking about all faiths. This isn't just a single faith; it's Christian, Jewish, Muslim faiths, all -- which exist because they've heard the universal admonition to love a neighbor like you'd like to be loved yourself.
And so I want to applaud those of you who have set up faith- based offices, and encourage you, if you haven't, to do so. There is a lot of federal money available to effective providers of social services. One such program is going to be the $100-million drug treatment programs, where now vouchers can be issued to people where they can choose where they go, whether it be kind of a clinical program or a program designed to help change somebody's heart. By the way, if your heart gets changed, it's a lot easier to quit drinking. I know.
And so it's -- this is an opportunity that I think is a viable opportunity for governors and states to really help people. And that's why we're in office, isn't it, is to do the best -- (applause.)
So regardless of your party, I hope you have this sense of optimism I do. You see the people in your states. We are lucky to be leaders in such a fabulous country, we really are -- good, honest, decent, honorable people. We've overcome a lot. There's more to do. There's a lot we can do together.
So thanks for coming by the White House. That's my pledge. This is going to be a year in which a lot of people are probably going to think nothing can done, right, because we're all out campaigning. Well, that's not my attitude. I fully understand it's going to be the year of the sharp elbow and the quick tongue. But my pledge to you is, we'll continue to work with you. You've got what you -- you've got to do what you've got to do in your home states, in terms of politics. But surely we can shuffle that aside sometimes, and focus on our people; do what you were elected to do and what I was elected to do to make this country hopeful.
So thanks for coming by. I'll be glad to answer a couple of questions.
You're out of here. (Applause.)

Hey Roxanne, that's my complaint. Nader hasn't opened his mouth as Bush has committed atrocity after atrocity. I haven't heard him utter a word against the war in Iraq, the wholesale offshoring of jobs, the deterioration of our civil rights and the shredding of the constitution. I haven't heard a word out of his mouth and now he wants to run for President? I would consider him if he'd made in half the noise Howard Dean did. Would be great if he syphoned off republicans.
I'm not thrilled with the DNC or the DLC, and like shylurker I'm looking for the rebuilding or rebirth of the Democratic Party. So in the meantime go San Francisco, New Mexico, rock that boat. Love seeing Arnold and Bush blown off.
Roxanne,
Could you please clarify your following statement: "what a bunch of dysfunctional idiots from the southern so called christians to the gays..shame on all of them"? What exactly did you meant by this sentence. Are we to understand that somehow the gay community is fixated on sex right now at the detriment of the country? I can understand how some might think the "so called Christians", to use your phrase, might be interested in someone else's sex life eg. Clinton during his Presidency. But how is the Gay Community fixated on sex?
Just trying to understand your train of thought.
Jonathan
Observations of the biased media(except pacifica)
shrub pardons a convict(S&L convict)in Texas who
had contributed to his campaign.Media not going after the shrub like they went after Clinton who
pardoned after leaving office like the shrub sr.
reagan and other crooked ones. But shrub 43 pardons
while in office, just the arrogance! Media was hyping and putting down Gore in 2000 by blaming it
on Clinton fatigue. In fact, currently we're all
experiencing the corrupt, arrogant shrub fatigue.
Why doesn't the media say that? Thirdly, remember
the media saying corrup justices Oconnor, rhenquist
all going to retire(that's what was said in 2000)
I didn't see any of them want to relinquish the
power(all of them hungry for that supreme power
going along with a fat salary, working for only
9 months or less a year!)Media was hyping they'll
retire, but not a hint from the corrupt arrogant justices! But that's good now, since Kerry/Edwards
in Whouse in 2005 to 2013 and these jerks will
die of old age and we can have Kerry appointees in
the supreme court>
Excellent point Margana.....not one word from Nader. It is my impression that his intention is to bring down the system. There's no other logic that fits the past several years of Nader in America.
It's too bad. He use to be good at protecting people. This is some bastardized version that can only destroy. He has a right.
I'm very concerned that his presence is supplying one more place votes from the paperless computerized voting machines can funnel Democratic votes. Just not a good feeling about it at all.
I'm not worried about Nader ruuning.Kerry will win
despite nader running or because nader runs.People
know what happened in 2000 by voting for nader; once bitten they'll be twice shy and in 2004 nader
will be lucky if he gets 0.5% of the votes. It is also possibe, he may change his mind and withdraw
abruptly in Aug - Oct.2004.
Roxanne,
you posted “not to start a debate, but no morgana, ralph is ALL ABOUT the direction of the country, that's his WHOLE THING, guess you haven't heard him.”
I think you really do want to start a debate (hey, there’s nothing wrong with that!) because you continue to bring up Nader and his entry into this year’s election. I can’t help myself, my Mercury conjuncts Venus and they sit along with Mars and Pluto in Cancer in my 11th house --- I’m unable to let go of your remarks!!! So let’s have a debate, okay? First of all, I recognize that you are already persuaded to vote for someone who meets your ‘ideal’ which would not be one of the two major parties, and I honor and respect that, and know that NOTHING I say will change your mind. However, your comments do not fall into a vacuum... other folks --- many --- visit this website, and it’s for them that I make my comments. Having said that, I hope no one dumps on me again for commenting on your post, as I do so in peace. Namaste.
I read the transcript of Nader’s remarks with Tim R. this past Sunday. The FIRST thing Mr. Nader says is: “After careful thought and my desire to retire our supremely selected president, I've decided to run as an Independent candidate for president. “ IMHO, his decision to enter the race, that is to drain off any votes, can only HELP keep Dubya in the White House. (Nader is considered LEFT of the Democrat Party... there is NO way he will pick up Repug votes.) So, I’m really puzzled by his thought process and its conclusion that his running will “retire our supremely selected president.” You have asked for a look at his chart... I’m sure someone will give it a scholarly once over, but for now I have a few observations. (You can search google as I did.) Please feel free, anyone, to correct me on any point I make, as I am only a student. He was born according to several sources Feb. 27 1934. I examined two charts, one with equal house system and one with Placidus. In both he is Aquarian Rising 0 degrees. In one he has six planets and the no. node in the first, in the other the six are spread equally thru the first two, with the node remaining in the first. No weak ego here, right? One shows a classical seesaw pattern and the other, two or three planets out of the seesaw pattern showing a slightly less structured focus. He has 4 Rx planets, Mercury among them. His moon in Leo is conjunct the South Node (which some might view as a karmic placement for previous misuse of popularity). Saturn is oriental which probably contributes to the stern persona he exudes. His Rx Mercury conjuncts his Mars, both in Pisces with his Sun. Transiting Neptune is moving toward a conjunction with his Venus at 8 degrees Aquarius. With all that Piscean/Neptunian energy, might not his ideals, his perspective be a bit foggy, cloudy at the present? With regard to his timing ? — I’m certainly not implying that his desire to change the political system is misplaced, simply that 2004 may not be the year to champion a third party movement. His chart overall indicates to me that he is focused on universal needs and driven to work at changing things for the better.
Karl Rove used excerpts from Nader’s speeches in 2000 criticizing Gore in Repug TV ads and he’ll do it again this year when he criticizes Kerry or Edwards (which Nader does even in the Tim R. transcript) or whomever the Democratic nominee turns out to be. In 2000 and again in 2004, Nader sees the two major parties as “Coke-Pepsi” to use the present vernacular. That’s where I part company — the present Administration doesn’t even resemble the Republican Party that I grew up knowing — which may be why so many of Bush’s ‘base’ are complaining? Which brings up Morgana’s comments in her post above. Nader has YET in 2000 or now, to speak to the STATE OF OUR REPUBLIC. You can kiss ‘due process’ goodbye! And say hello to Guantanamo Bay! Forget freedom of speech... protest the war and you’ll find yourself under the jail (google Strom Thurmond’s number one son and his recent case against a protestor in Columbia, SC).
Some political analysts believe now that Dean is out, NADER and Demo nominee will split the Dean vote. As far as I am concerned, our job in November is not to vote for the ‘ideal’ but to send Dubya and his FASCIST regime packing. In surfing the net I found the following quote:
“Under Bush we're seeing the complete corporate domination of the various departments of government. The Agriculture Department, which was created to benefit small farmers, is now a wholly owned subsidiary of big agribusiness and the principal instrument of their destruction. The Forest Service is being run by a timber industry lobbyist, Public Lands by a mining industry lobbyist. Virtually all Bush's Cabinet secretaries, department deputies and agency heads come from the very industries that those agencies are supposed to be regulating.
The same thing happened in Germany, Italy and Spain during the fascist takeover in the 1920s and '30s -- you had industrialists flooding the ministries and running the ministries, and running them in many ways for their own profit. If you read the American Heritage Dictionary definition of fascism, it says "the domination of a government by corporations of the political right, combined with bellicose nationalism." Well, we're seeing that today.
Of course the first people who start talking about this connection are going to be derided for it. Even though Rush Limbaugh calls feminists "Nazis." The right wing for years has tried to discredit anyone who believes in the idea of community as a "communist" or a "pinko." But it's time that people started telling the truth about what's going on in this country. And start realizing that democracy is fragile, that corporate cronyism is as antithetical to democracy in America as it is in Nigeria. “
Pluto, the planet of power (and transformation), is transiting the USA’s first house — changing us and our image as we present it to the rest of the world.
We, the people, have to take back our power. We can only do so by wresting it from the Neo-conservatives who have seized it on Dubya’s watch. Period.
Namaste, Grandma Jo
grandma jo, i'll write more later, gotta go, but to JONATHAN..no, i just think EVERYONE should be fixated on what's going wrong with the war, and save sexual issues, (or even environ issues) till after we stop killing everybody! i mean how can i respect people who are fixated on their own personal social issues when our country is killing it's own and others?
more later..sorry!
Roxanne,
You're right in some ways, but our World is comprised, our every day life for the most part, of "personal social issues". So, if gays and lesbians are struggling for equality, that is part of our World, in addition to people getting killed. But when have people in this country (and overseas) NOT been getting killed? Voting Nader or anyone else for that matter into Office isn't going to change that fact. I just think Anybody But Bush in Office would lessen the carnage to some degree. But "personal social issues" do, like it or not, matter to most.
Just my two cents.
Jonathan
Gay marriage is not a sexual issue. Gays can have sex when ever they please. It is a legal issue. It is the legal rights that they want. It is not even a religious issue, as many churches will do a marriage type ceremony recognized in the church but not by the state.
It is only the people who for some unknown reason want to mind other peoples business, that want to make it into a sexual and religious issue.
Amen, Jean --- and Jonathan.
New York Times has an interesting piece on expected protests in NYC during the Republican Convention --- estimates are 500,000 to 1M people may protest. Anxiety by many over police interaction and possible violence against protestors.
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/23/nyregion/23protest.html
The fatal physical attack on a human being is just one way of killing. You can KILL a person or group by denying them, on a daily basis, their humanity. You can KILL a person or group by denying them their rights to be full equals in the eyes of their country---one starts to feel less than, and that eats away at the soul.
Roxanne, there are many ways to kill a person, and ALL of those ways need to be addressed.
Finally, in the sixties when it was illegal for interacial couples to marry, one might perceive that issue as a sexual issue---it was not. I don't believe sex plays any part in gays wanting to be married. It's about equal rights and protection under the law.
I'm sorry, I wrote the above post.
Janet
Pat, I read article you linked... all of this is on various websites usually referred to as 'conspiracy' theories, which they aren't, of course... they are fact. Those involved in Iran-Contra scandal have become what we refer to as Neo-Cons... you are correct, this is the real danger, the tearing down of our Republic, which I attempted to address in my post above. If Bush goes back into the WH in 2005, we will have the draft, endless war, tremendous debt and more importantly, 'America' as we know it will cease to exist. But the above are not simply 'wedge' issues, they are indeed part of the fiber that make us who we are... If we are not going to fight for equality for all, we deserve what we get. And the Nader issue is extremely important because his campaign supports the Neo-Cons staying in the WH... IMHO, of course. Thanks for the link. And let's not forget that Kevin Phillips was a Republican who saw 'the light' which makes him all the more credible. Peace
Grandma,
Nader has a right to run. The media will give him lots of air time where he will throw stones at the Democrats. We can count on it. I think that is his "job". I think he wants to bring the system down, much like the "christians" who want to bring on end times.
If this country ever stood for anything, there has to be equal rights for all people. Households and those who comprise them have to have financial and medical protection. It should be the law, and civilized people will insist on it.
If we don't focus on the real Bush administration and expose it for what it is, all that history, and the newest high crimes and misdemeanors will be swept under the rug, and Bush will finish what his family has been doing. There won't be enough Democracy left to flush down a toilet.
I have always agreed with your posts, and I understand what you are saying now. I differ only in that it appears to me that people are being distracted by the issues that will cement the neocon base, and divide the left.
Pat, I apologize... you are right, of course, about the distraction. They will use anything: Janet Jackson, Martha Stewart, Dubya's dogs (on GMA this a.m.!), the proposed Amendment to the Constitution relating to marriage, etc. And most voters will be distracted. I didn't intend to minimize your concern. Sometimes I gush forth in a rush and fail to communicate clearly. I'm sorry.
Grandma,
Don't you be a silly goose! ;-) You owe me no apology at all. I just want to avoid the trap. Equal rights are so important, but it will never happen under Bush.
It’s hard to believe after the results of the 2000 Presidential election that we must find ourselves having to listen to Ralph Nader bringing out his same old tired shtick about the two parties being exactly the same. Don’t get me wrong I think Nader certainly has earned himself a small place within America’s political dialogue and I will applaud all of you out there that view Nader with a certain amount of moral idealism, idealism is great. Unfortunately, at some point reality has to kick-in. Terrible things are going on because of George Bush and his policies that are having a huge and real impact on real people who are losing real jobs and drinking water with real arsenic. As a presidential candidate Ralph Nader adds nothing other than some revolting ego-based case of narcissism. Underneath all of Naders worn out platatutides it’s pretty easy to see that Nader's ego is screaming 'It's all about me.” In many regards this presidential election is like the run-off election in France. When the French were confronted with the insufferable choice between right-wing Chirac and his crazed neo-nazi opponent it was a no-brainer for the liberals in France. The French progressives had no trouble figuring out what was the right thing to do when comforted with such a choice, they voted for Chirac. In the last four years America has had to endure one of the most dangerous and tremendously damaging presidents in modern history-George Bush. Bush and his hooligan-thugs have destroyed our international credibility, bankrupted our economy, stacked the courts with out of step justices and are attempting to find ways to permanently place legalized hatred in our Constitution. I have no illusions that the future democratic nominee will be capable enough to of bring about all the solutions to our nations many problems, but the eventual democratic nominee will certainly represent the solution to our biggest problem, George W. Bush.
“Just because Nader thinks he’s so important doesn't make it so," Ralph Nader's sense of self-importance has again superseded his relevance,"

I'll reserve my opinion of Nader running until I hear what he starts to say. On one hand, if he uses the air time to go after Bush and his cohorts, thats a great thing - with Dean out of the race, Kerry will need a little help to keep his spine intact, and it will serve to disperse the blush flak, particularly after the convention. ON the other hand, I would hope that Nader is smart enough to realize that getting negative on the dems is likely to backfire on his life's work bigtime. Perhaps it will enable the dem establishment to begin articulating their key posititions a bit better than they have - its easy to be against something, much harder to eloquently and succinctly articulate what you are for. Just a thought bouncing around in my head - I wonder if Dean's demise, and the apparent annointing of the candidate before all states have voted already, had anything to do with his decision?
Timothy Noah of "Slate" raises the possibility of the 'Constitution Party' running Judge Moore (of the Ten Commandments episode) as their nominee. Interesting. Another '3rd' party factor which will DEFINITELY take votes from 'Asbutro' ---
http://slate.msn.com/id/2095865/
Peace
Sorry, I made a bit of a 'Freudian slip' above:
Asbutro is misspelled... should be ARBUSTO (ck out Pat's link to Kevin Phillips' interview on Democracy Now if you want to know what I'm talking about... it should be 'required reading' anyway!;-)
Bush made distraction to consolidate the base:
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040224/D80TMMNG0.html
President Bush will back a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage in an attempt to halt same-sex unions like the thousands that have been allowed this month in San Francisco, his spokesman said Tuesday.
"He has always strongly believed that marriage is a sacred institution between a man and a woman," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said.
He said the president wants to end "growing confusion" that has arisen from court decisions in Massachusetts, and San Francisco's permitting more than 3,000 same sex unions.
"The president believes it is important to have clarity," McClellan said.
He said Bush believes that legislation for such an amendment, submitted by Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, R-Colo., "meets his principles" in protecting the "sanctity of marriage" between men and women.
But Bush was not expected in his announcement Tuesday to specifically embrace any particular piece of legislation. White House officials say that support for Musgrave's proposed amendment has been unraveling in the Senate.
He is however on TV right now announcing his attempt to ban, and smacking "activist judges".
Carolyn,
I couldn't agree with you more. I’ve had many, many years of “fighting in the system” and “fighting the system” from the dirty trenches of the civil rights movement and the Vietnam War movement to now and I can tell ya’ll there is no wait and see when it comes down to any obstruction that could keep such a dangerous man as George Bush in the White House. I know first hand that politics is a dam dirty business and we've got about the dirties group in my memory sit’n in the White House. If Nader believes as he says, that his candidacy can stop "our country from being taken down and taken apart by corporate politics". He sure as heck has every right to run for, perhaps even a moral duty to run for president. Every principal of democracy is on his side. But if Nader thinks that there's no difference between Republicans and democrats, as he argued in 2000, he is strangely oblivious to the radical shift in direction the country has taken in the last three long years. If he thinks he did not help elect George Bush in 2000, he borders on delusional. And if he thinks there's no chance of him replaying his spoiler role in this year’s election, he demonstrates a naiveté that leads us to conclude he's putting his ego ahead of the very causes he spent a lifetime fighting to support.

On the dust jacket of his book, Richard Perle appends a Washington Post depiction of himself as the “intellectual guru of the hard-line neoconservative movement in foreign policy.”
The guru’s reputation, however, does not survive a reading. Indeed, on putting down Perle’s new book the thought recurs: the neoconservative moment may be over. For they are not only losing their hold on power, they are losing their grip on reality.
An End to Evil: How to Win the War on Terror opens on a note of hysteria. In the War on Terror, writes Perle, “There is no middle way for Americans: It is victory or holocaust.” “What is new since 9/11 is the chilling realization that the terrorist threat we thought we had contained” now menaces “our survival as a nation.”
But how is our survival as a nation menaced when not one American has died in a terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11? Are we really in imminent peril of a holocaust like that visited upon the Jews of Poland?
“[A] radical strain within Islam,” says Perle, “ ... seeks to overthrow our civilization and remake the nations of the West into Islamic societies, imposing on the whole world its religion and laws.”
Well, yes. Militant Islam has preached that since the 7th century. But what are the odds the Boys of Tora Bora are going to “overthrow our civilization” and coerce us all to start praying to Mecca five times a day?
In his own review of An End to Evil, Joshua Micah Marshall picks up this same scent of near-hysteria over the Islamic threat:
The book conveys a general sense that America is at war with Islam itself anywhere and everywhere: the contemporary Muslim world .... is depicted as one great cauldron of hate, murder, obscurantism, and deceit. If our Muslim adversaries are not to destroy Western civilization, we must gird for more battles.
To suggest Frum and Perle are over the top is not to imply we not take seriously the threat of terror attacks on airliners, in malls, from dirty bombs, or, God forbid, a crude atomic device smuggled in by Ryder truck or container ship. Yet even this will never “overthrow our civilization.”

being a francophile, i liked that article, but the europeans, and esp the brits don't understand the likes of the j edgar hoovers and that bush may very well be gay (none of us would be surprised here would we?)..so they just don't understand it has nothing to do with fear of sex, it's just american weirdness..hahah..
oh i must correct that stat i've been throwing around here, it's actually 20 per cent of bush voters who voted for nader in 2000..and 40 per cent people who didn't vote.
i love him, but nader is out of his league in modern america, he's more like a lincoln (even astrologically), and this isn't that america. even before bush, but after bush, well we're heading for the cemetary for sure, imo..
nader's whole stance is against 'special interests' which is just like kerry's..but as i said there's repubs who AGREE, there IS, and yet they won't give in and vote dem..anyway, who knows.but in an l.a. paper last week nixon is quoted as wanting to squash kerry in the 60's fearing he'd become another ralph nader..i thought that was funny.
yes one of my friends in nyc has asked me for a helmet for his birthday.
if the polls are close enough (to steal)a little revolution might be the only answer, no? they did it to milosovic maybe we have to go in and take bushie out by his ears?
the kerry attacks on bush have been great! bushie doesn't know what to do, his come backs have been weak and air-less..does everyone agree with that? he's not use to being socked like this, it's a joy to watch! sag kerry will probably keep it up!
i have actually spoke to repubs who like edwards genuinely. last nite we spoke to one, and i said, "the astrologers predict bush will lose the election," he said, "good." and meant it! great stuff! but bush is so sick, who knows how dangerous he can be until he's officially out. this scares me a bit. any indication of foul play between nov and jan?
the thing about if the gay marriage issue has to do with sex, why i see it that way, is because to the people opposed to it, it does. letting gays get married signifies to them, that america approves of homosexuality. a lot of the religious people (not only christians), feel that is a wrong step and our country will be cursed and all that..but what they don't realize is that the sins of the flesh are never as damning as the other things taking place, like the war, which a lot were for. a lot of people are just violent, even so-called religious people, so they can't face this reality, they're too busy worrying about what their doctrine says about sexuality....
new moon madness indeed when we're quoting buchanan here!!!! it's a good thing i guess!
Oh my god. Gay marriage would not hurt my heterosexual marriage one iota. Bush wants a constitutional amendment? How sick. I hope all the gays in the country vote against Bush, just for this idiotic foolishness.
Bush announced that he wants congress to pass a constitutional admendment to make marrige between a man and woman. The consequeses would be to ban gay marriage.
The chart data. Feb. 24, 2004 at 10:41 am, Wash. D.C.
Also Constitution approved 2/18/1791, Philadelphia, I do not have the time.
Plus I used Bush chart.
These charts are facinating. I sure hope one of you experts will take a look at these. Looks to me like a lot of talk, a lot of talk with a lot of confusion and lies. leading ultimately to gay marriages. Pluto is in the 7th house on the announcement chart. The only way that you can transform marrige is to have gay marriage. On the Constitution chart Pluto is at 27 aqu trian Neptune 27 Libra. And the anouncement Moon is conjunct Constitution Neptune and Mercury is conjunct Constitution Pluto. Only scratched the surface of these charts.
Posting Pat Buchanan is exactly my point. Even they are worried.
I got the time from the TV clock exactly when he opened his mouth to speak.
There where no mid east hijackers on those planes on 9/11. It was an inside job to give the adminstration an excuse to invade Afganistan to put a pipe line from north of it, where the oil is, to the sea. And a gas line across it so that Enron would not go broke. It also gave them and excuse to invade Iraqi for many reasons, oil, for profits of Haliburton, etc, and religious reasons that have to do with the "Rapture" profesy.
So there is no reason what so ever to worry about terriosts. There is reason to worry about another inside job, to help Bush win the election.
I have studdied this upside down and backward to get to the truth of the matter, questioning everything that I read and using my common sense to come to this conclusion. And it would take hours or a book to tell you what I have learned.
Just be open to the possibility, no matter how remote you may think it is and the truth will start sinking thru to you.
The 9/11 chart has a lot of clues to this also, if you superimpose Bush chart over it, using Chiron, etc. Venus in the 9/11 chart reflects back to the grand cross eclispe in 1999.
Jean, horrifying isn't it? Why the American press is giving these thugs a pass I'll never know.
I'm seriously looking at going back to school and picking up a degree in law and brushing up my bilingual skills (spanish and navajo), not like the navajo will help, but the spanish certainly will. I practice on my dogs, spanish that is..hahaha they respond to spanish as well as english, what a hoot.
If Nader wants to take the high road in his "priority" of ousting Bush, then he should use his media clout to back Dennis Kucinich and bolster positive debate within the Democratic race instead of fracturing that debate and weakening our best chance to defeat Bush in November. Kucinich's platform is every bit the progressive platform Nader could want, and by promoting it within the circle of the Democrats is exactly where it would do the greatest good, and have the greatest national impact. Kucinich keeps going to promote these issues in the Dem race, and for Nader to overlook this is ignorant. By running, Nader will only lessen the votes needed to beat George W. Bush in November. By declaring the Democrats and the Repubicans are one and the same, he further marginilizes and discredits the ideals which Kucinich eloquently upholds within the unlikely walls of the Democratic party, where an endorsement of wisdom by Nader would propel these ideas into the mainstream, for the benefit of all.
Should the U.S. Constitution be amended to ban same-sex marriages?

Ohmy... we have had breathless hysterical duct-tape/plastic sheeting, color-codes of emergency proportions, mushroom clouds, etc., & a "commie" under every bush (pun intended)... no, wait... that's "terr'ist" under every bush... no, wait again... that's "satan"... no, "gay" under every bush. ;O)
Ostensibly, it's no easy matter to amend the US Constitution & takes a long time. So far as I know, it can't be "edicted" by a bushie-boy or its buddie-boyz, the neoconz, or repubz. 'Course, I cld be wrong since the mentally/emotionally ill hysterics are presently "in charge." Then again, it's no doubt calculated to merely "inspire The Base" or "de-base."
yeah, well this is just the warm up. if they do this next is to get things changed so that nazi can run for pres in 2008..considering prescott, rove, and arnie, you don't have to be a paranoid nutcase to see how this can easily be the rise of the nazis again..and plans of endless war..
however, with the things bush says, he's TELLING us what his agenda is..they're TELLING us they are taking over the middle east.
of course this isn't going to happen..i read revelation and theres nothing to indicate this. this notion that these guys have about the islam fundys wanting to take over the world is so curious! i mean, if they get it from prophesy, and it can be interpreted there, then don't they realize that they DO get destroyed, (america), and that there's nothing they can do about it? and if you were a true christian, then wouldn't you just let it all rock, and let things happen the way they're suppose to instead of adding to the carnage? people say to me, well what would you have done about hitler? y'know that's the great question for us pacifists..but AS a christian, i believe in mysticism and i do believe perhaps god would have had him choke in his sleep..but we live in a country run by hypocrites.
isn't it curious that bush is americas sun and kerry's america's asc? (right? sag?) saying bush is what we really are, and kerry is (merely) how the world sees us? that gives 'fate' every reason to give us kerry in 2004!
That's a very good point you make, Roxanne, about Kerry as "our" Ascendant. I'd never thought of it that way.
It is all over for the shrub.Zogby poll predicts
Shrub is sinking fast in an eddy whirlpool and is
not rescueable.68% people don't trust him and hence won't vote for him(that includes the repugs)
Once trust is lost by a person, be it the shrub,
it is lost forever. There's no way the trust is coming back from the people. So, for all practical purposes, it is adios shrub today onwards(tho officially have to wait till Nov)
I love this sight! I check in the AM, I check it at noon, then in the PM. Then, I go to DU.
Jean, I think you are right on about 9/11. I'm with the MIHOP theory.
I also agree with you, Troy. Nader should support Kucinich -- he did earlier. He stopped because Kucinich wasn't getting enough percentage of the vote. But, I don't think he (Nader) will do any better, so he should have supported Kucinich more actively.
Love all of the discussion and articles here. Good job everbody!
ELECTIONS 2004
PRESIDENT BUSH COMES OUT OF THE GATE WITH LIES BLARING
Democrats Show Lack Of Strength, Understanding In
Firing Back
by Betsy R. Vasquez
February 24, 2004 – It was a dream setup for any would-be challenger to President Bush.
The President finally decided to directly campaign, and his opening salvo was a bonanza of
direct evidence of this President’s constant compulsion for lying and misrepresentation.
The same lying and bending of facthe used to lead the nation into the Iraq War he immediately
displayed in comments about Senator John Kerry.
http://www.moderateindependent.com/v2i4elections.htm
I saw on CBS local news an interview with a newly married gay couple's reaction to Bush. They said, 'that's declaring war on gays and lesbians', and the anarchy is going to spread. Don't know if anyone mentioned it, but no other countries are allowing American beef or poultry into their countries. These animal diseases are bizarre, chicken flu or bird flu, madcow, don't forget Sars from the Civet. This is one ugly moon, look at the seeds being sown.
Which reminds me I'm prepared for Bush trying to use the 9/11 emotional crap, move on and let these people heal.
I'm waitin for those ads and then letting it fly. Aren't there any good Democratic cinematographers out there? Where the heck is Hollywood? The silence is deafening.
here i go with my revelation again ! sorry can't resist!!!! go read it (no i'm not david koresh come back to life)...but another description of the fallen whore (of babylon) is that every "bird" is foul, diseased!!!! makes me think an attack is on the way! (i mean i wouldn't be surprised.)
Joanna, your sense of humor is on par with mine today- gotta laugh at the incredulity of it all. Thanks for sharing, lol. Roxanne, I read something a couple of weeks ago about an attack today because it's some sort of "holiday/ anniversary", not to mention ash Wed. Who the hell knows anymore? (she says facetiously).
Til now, the corrupt shrub,cheny,rummy,rowy,cunti,
powell were all doused in lies and deception. Guess who is the next to join them from that flock
of birds of the same feather? its that imbecile,
idiotic paige from Houston who is now the education(secreatary) or liar? This jerk has the
gall to call NEA terrorists because they are able
to reason and conclude his policies won't work. Why doesn't he call his own flock of repugnants
from utah - terrorists- because they also call his
education policies are for the stupid and are not
going to follow him into idiocity, mediocricity etc
For all our different emphasis and approaches it's pretty clear the recurring theme on this site is the importance of living in harmony with Nature/the All/the Divine. This administration's "hard-nosed," hierarchical, win by disrespecting/raping Mother Nature, and "we're tougher than you guys, so we'll do what we want" tactic is so Over. Humankind will change its approach, be wiped out, or at the least not be "Lords of the Planet" anymore. At this point, either one is ok with me. Well, excuse the rant, but what triggered it was thinking about mad cow and mad bird? sick bird? disease. Do you know that the horrid agri-business giant corporations grind up "fallen" cows and put the bits into cattle feed? Same for chickens. Wouldn't anyone anywhere who is even partially in tune with Nature know that cannibalism within a species (except for a very few insect species) is unnatural and wrong? (With human cannibals even it was a rare "religious" ritual--not an every day occurance.) I can't remember what environmentalist exclaimed after the first outbreak of mad cow disease, "Are these people crazy?" I think they are.
We need a revolution now!! Bush is saying he won't do this, that is, until he gets re-elected!!!
Greenspan Urges Social Security Cuts
By MARTIN CRUTSINGER, AP Economics Writer
2/25/04 1 hour, 6 minutes ago
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=&e=2&u=/ap/20040225/ap_on_bi_ge/greenspan_budget_7
WASHINGTON - Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan urged Congress on Wednesday to deal with the country's scalating budget deficit by cutting benefits for future Social Security retirees. Without action, he warned, long-term interest rates would rise, seriously harming the economy.
More . . .
Laurie, I just read this and was going to post a link to it too.
I'm really surprised by this comment. It's not something that the politically astute Greenspan would say unless he doesn't care if shrub sacks him. It's widely reported that he plans to retire after the election (regardless of outcome). These remarks almost seem to be intended to bring about the firestorm that it should (if the press is on the beam - and we know that's not been the case during the past 3 years!). What I'm trying to say is that the Democrats have been warning about the impact to social security-medicare and other social entitlement programs that are sure to be severely impacted by the permanent shrub tax cuts. This seems to underscore exactly what they've been warning about. It almost seems like he just threw a molotov cocktail into the election year rhetoric, knowing that it will be controversial and won't help the administration and the rethug congress.
It can appear that he's recommending cuts to the SSA (whether he really believes this) in order to prevent the fiscal train wreck coming 'round the bend. He gets to look like the cautionary economic forecaster just doin' his job - at the same time throwing gasoline onto the numerous relection brushfires breaking out in shrub's campaign. Anybody else have the same take on this?
Greenspan is moving beyond his 'job description' telling this Admin how to balance the budget... After all, those huge tax cuts are the reason he is proposing cutting Social Security. Kerry came right back at 'em --- said no way... if elected, he would roll back the tax cuts and NOT reduce ss benefits. Rove's timing is becoming lousy (for the shrub, wonderful for Demos)--- does he think throwing an amendment to the Constitution to the Evangelicals will take everyone's attention off social security? Even a hint of messing with that 'sacred cow' can kill the shrub's chances for victory in November, esp. after the damage they have done to Medicare --- the Seniors already know about that sneaky trick. Those ratings keep falling and falling... trust issue has become a big problem for the Shrub... he can forget about getting back the country's trust --- it's like virginity... once lost, it's gone!
I think I'm inclined to agree with you regarding Greenspan, Susan. As a note, that word "entitlement" has taken on meaning in the last couple of decades, as we know, that suggests "unearned" linked with "welfare parasites." Everybody knows that the biggest chunk forceably taken out of our paycks is for "entitlement" programs. These are monies due back to the citizen at retirement for programs bot-n'-paid for by the citizen in a contract with the gov't. It ain't anything close to "welfare." However, taking that monies, & giving it to obese plutocrats & oligarchs in "tax returns"--taxes they did not, in fact, pay--IS "welfare" of the most criminal & sadistic kind. It sure doesn't make us "fare-well" imo.
Anyone who has worked a day in this country and paid into the Social Security insurance fund is 'entitled' to the benefit and certainly expects to be able to draw benefits at some future time.
The Grover Norquists of the world have worked overtime to lump social security and medicare into a kind of dumping ground with other welfare programs, and the tactic was working to some extent - before the implosion of the high tech markets and the burgeoning budget deficit which has created uncertainty and fear in the hearts of all working class citizens in this country. The aim of this guy and others like him is to bankrupt the system (which shrub's group is doing swimmingly well). Frankly, though, I don't think the current administration intended for the wheels to come off so abruptly BEFORE the election, and certainly were not prepared for Greenspan's 'advice' today. Based on shrub's remarks subsequently, he was caught completely off guard (GOOD!). This is certainly not the kind of advice you want from the Fed Chairman 9 months out from an election. Really, what can the administration do? Say they're sorry? Anyone with half a brain can see that trying to fix this thing is going to be like trying to turn an oil barge around. It can be done, but it won't be quick or pretty - and it's going to mean that those tax cuts are going to have to be repealed.
Seniors and workers today who are looking at their retirement situation are going to be REALLY paying attention now that this genie is out of the bottle. They're gonna want some answers and some guarantees from this group and if they even have a whiff that those benefits are in jeopardy, they'll make this bunch pay on election day.
After watching Greenspan's last speech on cspan, I get the feeling his cautionary words were totally ignored by the administration - just as he warned for several years against "irrational exuberance" on wall street before the bottom fell out. Perhaps this is his way of shaking up the smoke & mirror pr status quo by laying out the black and white reality facing us beyond this election cycle. The trouble is, all these right wing holy rollers in charge believe the bible literally and armageddon is coming soon, so perhaps they think ss will be a moot point because only they will be left. Its ironic that most likely the returning christ essence that they seek to redeem them would probably not be allowed access into their elite closed circles.
jeannie! that last line! that's exactly why they crucified christ, was because they didn't believe he was king cause he wasn't born to the elite..funny that huh?? to me it shows that if god came today manifest as man, a lot of jews would be believers, and a hell (pun) of a lot of christians would be jews!!!!
this ss thing IS big..i'm glad i've been basically underground my whole life. ss writes to me yearly to warn me i'm not getting much money when i'm 65...now it turns out, neither is anyone else! tho this doesn't make me happy.
i just heard they are going to not only not extend time to the 911 investigation but squash it..those families, it's up to them to bombard the media, and it's up to THEM to take bushie out by his ears, LITERALLY>..let them get arrested, y'know? their families paid for our terrorist policies, that taunt other terrorists...bush laden, etc..
I am self employed, never paid SS,etc. or any taxes other than those forced upon me, get back $2500/ yr. I never asked or EXPECTED to receive anything from the government either. It's just all part of what's going on necessarily in this world right now..... all systems, all institutions will be equalized/ legitimized or they will destruct and if we don't "get" this, then it feels oh so much worse observing it- part of the Pisces in Uranus transit, folks.
When humans see that we really *are*
'All That' then we can start to see everything is conciousness = Christed conciousness. I see all things: men, women, animals, nature, animate objects, inaniamate objects to the lint on my clothes as conciousness. My own mind and body is that conciousness too. So I too am God as everything else is God as well. What frightens me about the holy -rollers is that God is only the way they say it is. Then God is 'right'. But this form of illogical thinking keeps everything separate not unified in the sea of concoisness of the All That Is.
Even GW (who I have no use for) is that divine conciousness -just dead asleep and believing in made up fairy tales of days gone by. We all have no clue as to what really happened 2000 years ago. None of us were there to be eye witnesses to reality, Humans are still caught up in living out the past. Thus this new movie out today causing so much 'passion'. It is another veil to keep us from the 'now'.
This board stays up to the minute of the 'now' in concern for all human beings.
As astrologers I believe it is good to understand the teachings of many different masters on earth. Actually, they all say basically the same thing. True leaders bridge gaps to create a unity, as I do believe a human being on earth named Jesus or whatever they called him, did back then. But he is not the only teacher. Our current admistration is spiritually, mentally and emotionally immature. And once again, I will repeat from living in a ritzy Wall Street neighborhood filled with GW's: they start big deluded projects to abandon them halfway through and leave everyone else to clean up the mess.
My two cents.
I think Kerry should declare there will be a complete investigation of 9/11 if he is elected. Even after they are gone, it will be useful to pin the criminal negligence on these guys so they can't resurrect yet again!
Amen to your 2cents Bhakti.
These monsters are not easily dismissed... by Great Cosmic Mother, I so heartily wish they were.
One of John Pilger's fine pieces, I highly recommend... http://pilger.carlton.com/print/133179
Oh for Goddess sake! Just cut back 50% on military "defense" spending, make corporations and the rich pay their fair share of taxes and we won't have to worry about SS. And, we could have free health care and free college educations for everyone. I think it's a obscenity that in this "great" country there are so many people who have no homes or who can't afford to even go to the doctor. But boy, make sure we give billions of dollars to the Pentagon to "defend" us. grrrr...
Later, I will have a comment on Jesus the Christ. Must go some research.
And, good post bhakti.
Patricia.
Morgana,
There is a global anti-war protest march planned for March 20th --- which is a New Moon and the first day of spring. London is expecting over 1M and NYC is expecting a huge turnout. Do you see any indications of possible violence, against the protestors? I know you'll have an article on it later, but I'm considering going to a demonstration that day in my area and am curious about transits, etc.
Also, most of you probably already know that some Norwegian nominated both Bush and Blair for the Nobel Peace Prize. There's a petition in the UK anyone can sign AGAINST this award. See link: http://www.petitiononline.com/nobel369/petition.html
Namaste
gibson will do for mean-spirited christianity what bush is doing for the republican party, marginalize it! there will always be an audience for a film like 'the passion;' the same audience that spends countless hour consuming the blood-soaked pornography of anne rice (and there are a bunch of them). the time is over for the violence paradigm, the end is near for the image of 'world champion hanger from the cross by regulation nails.' (Gunter Gras, Tin Drum).
its time for uranus (a titan) to do its thing.
its also time to turn to the most sublime gospel, the gospel of thomas:
"Recognize what is in your sight and that which is hidden from you will become plain to you. For there is nothing hidden which will not become mainifest." (Thomas, 5)
"Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled he will be ASTONISHED AND HE WILL RULE OVER ALL." (Thomas, 2)
so endeth the lesson...amen
Grandma Jo, I'll take a look after I get off work this evening. I'm wondering if there will be anything happening in concert on the west coast. Can't wait to see the news bytes on Rosie's SF wedding today. Rock on SF.
I'm skipping the 'Passion', not a Christian, not interested in watching their Christ being crucified by the Jews
nope.
Totally flippin furious over s/s, they've sucked plenty out of my paychecks and now they're going to cut benefits my generation has yet to see and still sucks money out of our paychecks? What is wrong with this picture?
petition signed, Grandma Jo, thanks for posting it :) Morgana, the movie holds no interest for me either.
I suspect it's because those monies have already been spent & con't to be spent on Eternal War Against Evil Ones... that includes all of us.
bhakti, i understand what you mean, and i feel the same way about all having a life force and energy..but then you're a bit contradicting because you're trying to understand christ in 'reality' terms when it's completely not to be understood this way. now, i love the beatles, but in 2000 years, i just don't think they'll be as popular as christ. why is that? you can say it's because of politicians through the ages, but they really don't have that kind of metaphysical power..we'll all forget about bush in 5 years, meaning he won't invoke the kind of passion he does in all of us to-day..so for christ to basically still 'be around' although mainly in a false sort of understanding, makes him more than a great teacher..
i agree about the blood stuff, and don't really look so forward to seeing this film. the most important thing to me about christ was -
1- the resurrection, and that bhakti is the mystical side that differentiates him from others.
your contradiction lies in the fact that you say we weren't around then we didn't see...but yet you believe in the life force? that's what faith is, you don't have to 'see' you find that you believe, that you know, somehow, without having seen...you're a good person, a good soul! if you were around then, you'd be a christian, if you'd seen the miracles done in the name of love, but here and now, you don't believe because you didn't see, hmmm
2- the love message
3- the death
the death to me is really the least significant, not that it is not.
the only danger i found in my life as a spiritual being, before i found jesus and fell in love with what he was and in believing then exactly what you believe, (with a dash of english magick), and this is strictly my opinion, and of course can be dead wrong, but is that you don't open the mystical side of your being (as you do to the lint on your clothes), to the power of christ, vs., the negative..to accept all as acceptable, a little right path, a little left, never works, you get sucked down the left, and end up licking your wounds on the right eventually..
we all have those choices to make between good and evil, what christ is all about, to me, is that he's the strongest mystical power to keep the evil away, and out of my sphere, by just invoking the love messaage and the idea of his existing in israel, and all that.. the way that usa depicts him, is some sort of distorted version of a fantastic power, that really does exist. but the innocence of americas stupidty can actually be seen by them TRYING to find that door, but they are so diverted, by the devil/bush, etc.... and morgana, completely dismisses it, as belonging to other people..it can belong more to someone like YOU than to me..it's out there for everyone.
sorry for the 4 cents!
This film didn't focus on the love.
Roxanne, You are correct I dismiss the children of Abraham out of hand. I am not of middle eastern inclination.
We are all children of the earth and should love, respect and protect her.
Giving over one's power to a fairy tale is also giving up personal power. The power of the words like good/evil, black/white, up/down is the law of duality of which we all have as reality on the earth plane. But duality is born out of the All That Is and goes back there when extinguished. When humans realize they are that power of God within which is what I believe Jesus was hipping us to, not to worship him but to follow his teachings to be Self-Realized they won't need to rely on other beings (and maybe mythical ones at that) having any heirarchal power over them. This a co-dependant world and when we mature spiritulally they'll be less dependency on myth to act out as our saviours.
John Lennon wrote a great song that was unpublished called 'Save Yourself'. I know coz I heard the tape from his old assistant who lived here in Brooklyn. JL was an Earth master and I'll remember the poetry and mysticism along with the words preached by another human soul named Jesus.Who cares whos more popular. It's what sticks inside our souls that lingers. And this whole religious thing and people giving over their brains, souls and personal power to 'saviors' is really all part of co-dependancy. At the macrocasmic level it's why our current pResident is a dry drunk and his administration not grounded.
So, Roxanne don't feel too bad coz I usually skip over your posts but theis one was addressed to me so I'm answering you back. We are coming from opposite ends and I want to stay silent because I feel it's the only way to show respect.
I don't think it's just a problem on a personal level because frighteningly enough I watched the news to see some really immature responses coming out of poeple;s mouths who watched the film. And with our dumbed down society it's easy to scam people with the large paintbrush of love and peace while not acknowleding the duality of emotions and the seemy side to their personalities of which they are in denial of and not taking responsibility for. Making suffering the answer to salvation. Truly, when some religion tells me I'm a sinner I run as fast as I possibly can.
The first evidence I can find in 'writings' for religion being a tool to control the masses is in Plato's 'Symposium' wherein the Greeks discuss their love for dialog and how they (the rich males) might continue all their lives to enjoy discourse and they hit on the idea of State religion (or actually religiousity) to control the common people, so that they will continue to do their bidding and leave them (Greek males who own property) free to dine and discourse. The Romans picked up on that idea straight away when they conquered the Greeks. The word religion comes from the Latin and actually means to re-join, as in make whole again. Carl Jung said that if the concept of 'God' did not exist, man would invent it, for we are 'hard-wired' for believing in something greater than ourselves. My point is we each make an individual choice as to what that 'greater than' is --- for some it comes down to ALL of us, that is to say, we are all connected, we are all part of consciousness, and we are it --- Tat Tvam Asi ~Thou Art That.
It's difficult to discuss politics and maintain harmony. It's even more difficult when 'religion' is thrown into the mix. 'Course I realize that the Shrub's support of/call for an amendment etc. brings religion into a 'State' or political forum. But I would ask that we all be respectful of the beliefs and opinions we each might have and forego the impulse to project that 'our truth' is the only truth, or THE TRUTH;-) Namaste.

Dallas council votes for resolution denouncing federal Patriot Act
By Bill Miller
Star-Telegram Dallas Bureau
DALLAS - After a round of impassioned debate, a resolution denouncing the USA Patriot Act was approved Wednesday in a 9-6 vote of the Dallas City Council.
In approving the resolution, Dallas joins three states and 225 local governments that have taken stands against the Patriot Act.
The measure states that city officials will uphold citizens' constitutional rights and monitor the implementation of the act.
It does not, however, have authority over the federal legislation.
The Patriot Act, passed soon after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, must be reauthorized periodically by Congress.
It expands law-enforcement officers' surveillance and investigative powers, allowing them to, for example, examine library patrons' records.

Pat,
Thanks for both links --- both of which resonate with me... it's encouraging to see more and more gov't entities speaking out against the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act ('course I'm still looking for the 'patriotism' in shredding the Bill of Rights. Unlike the optimistic birthday girl who knew the pile of manure meant there was a pony somewhere... I know we'll never find a pony in this pile of legislation.)
bhakti, I loved your message.
Thanks Grandma Jo and all who replied in any way. Dialogue is good.
Namaste/ Peace/Blessed Be/ Shalom/and however you say it in every language to all.
Seems to me that the recent uranus move into pisces has "produced" some pretty grand & dramatic piscean events/themes already... (not the most positive ones at this time either imo). However, it's all fascinating even if it is nauseating.
Bhakti, I like how you pursue the spiritual rather than the religious. I consider myself a spiritual person, but I do not subscribe to any religion. I think they are all made up by man for various reasons -- power, control, fear, anxiety. For the most part religions are unhealthy because they cause such narrow-minded thinking and action. And I like the way religious people can always find something in the bible to support their bias. They are like sports teams where each has their supporters and detractors -- passionately so!!! Seems like every religion has their own version of a virgin birth and resurrection. How many can be the one true religion? And, of course I don't believe in the vision of a god sitting on a throne in heaven judging who will be saved and who will not. But it is amusing to think of how that god responds to the parties on both sides of a conflict imploring him to be on their side or saying they are doing it in his name. I think I'd be pretty pissed if I were that god. I don't know what god is and I don't think anyone else really does. I would hope that god is all love and a little is in all of us to some extent -- more some than others. If we could really accept everyone with pure love, we would probably heal ourselves and the world.
Morgana,
Thanks for getting the chart to me so quickly. I think danger is where you find it... It will be a glorious day! Much different than 2003! Again, thank you.
Oh my goodness, Morgana and Grandma! What a chart!
You all keep talking about what a great chart (the March 20th chart) it is, but you're not saying why! For us newbies still learning how to assimilate all the info we're learning about houses, signs, aspects, etc and then put it together in a way that tells a story or at least makes sense, maybe someone can illuminate it a little bit? I hope it's not a day of violence as it IS my birthday and I have some wonderful plans to enjoy myself here in New York City to ring in my 35th year! :-)
Jonathan
I meant that March 20th is my birthday, not today. Thought I should clarify as I forgot to proof read before submitting. (damn that Aries impatience!)
Jonathan
lol@ Jonathon; my 35th was uniquely wonderful, does that help? :)
I'm with Jonathan on this one. Will one of your experts p-l-e-a-s-e interpret the chart for us? Many thnx!
Jonathan and Shylurker, for a day on which the entire world is marching against the Bush regime and America, Spring Equinox, it's the ultimate planting of seeds in many spritual circles, it is celebrated world wide for it's fertility. Mars the war planet is at it highest point of volatility 29 degrees Taurus in the 5th House which promises to be media driven. America is going to be badly embarassed, Saturn opposes the Ascendent, kinda like the taskmaster is calling payup time. NO WMD, 10 dead Iraqi, the world is paniced by the state of our nation. The media coverage should be hopping, a Bush Rove nightmare in living color. Saturn is also trine Uranus in the 2nd House, so I suspect we are broke and than some. Bush can kiss his re-election good bye.
There's a lot of Jupter activity likely the Supreme Court, coming out of the 8th the House of Death and Renewal.
The Sun sits at 0 degrees Aries, infantile anger, one could be losing his cookies and comes under media scrutiny.
Good day for a world wide protest, the moon 21 pisces in the 3rd house. I'd say the people have something to say and this time there is someone listening. My two cents worth, my dime will come closer to the event and I add a few other charts.
M
Just a comment on the Aries Ingress chart (March 20):
As Aries is the beginning of the zodiac, this is another "new year" energy-wise, and, of course, signals new starts. This year it is extremely powerful, as we have:
a. First day of Spring - Sun at 0 Aries
b. New Moon - Moon is conjunct Sun at 0 Aries 39
c. Both are at 0 Aries. The new moon doesn't always occur at 0 Aries. Our peersonal and emotional energies are in for renewal.
I received some channelled messages about this year. As it signifies such a powerful new beginning, it is important to write out a list of everything you would like to manifest this year, as it will happen. The time lapse between our thinking (creating) something and manifesting it has speeded up - which reinforces and demonstrates the fact that our thoughts do create our reality. Our consciousness must shift for us to create a better world, and the very powerful energies of the Sun and Moon at 0 Aries this year are conspiring to help us out. This is our big chance to start anew, as the energies that are present in the Aries Ingress chart carry through for the whole year, in mundane astrology and in our personal energy cycles. Let's make the best of this new beginning!
Jonathan - This will be very nice to have as a Solar Return (birhtday chart)!
Oh, thank you, Morgana! After living in the shadows these last 3 + years, it is wonderful to contemplate that we just might be able to live in sunshine again. I want to be among the first to wish you a wonderful birthday, Jonathan! Many thanks, Morgana!
Morgana, thank you for comments on the chart --- you always bring us hope --- and it's wonderful to know that unlike last year's March, the media will be more focused on the people... thank you too Viki for your insights. Let's all spread the word about the March --- Happy birthday Jonathan, hope it's a memorable one. Namaste to all
The Bob Novak Report Analysis of how states would vote if the election were held today is as follow:
Bush 279 electoral votes
Kerry 259 electoral votes
Novak says that most states would vote the same as 2000 except he gives Bush states New Hampshire and West Virginia to Kerry and Gore state Minnesota to Bush. This includes safe and leaning states!
All I gotta say is, consider the source!
They must have the voting machines all ready to go.
In Novak's Dreams! He must be smokin' the same stuff he was when he outed Plame. Demos haven't even picked a nominee and the nominee hasn't picked a VP. Wait 'til that happens and Novak won't even be able to sleep --- his dreams will go up in 'Plames' --- I can't even find anyone who is going to vote for Bush, can you? After bashing the Gays and (Ashcroft) threatening Roe v. Wade, stealing from retirees, abandoning our wounded, forcing citizen soldiers to remain in Iraq after 'expiration' date, lying about the growth in economy, watching our jobs disappear for good, labeling fast-food service jobs 'flipping' manufacturing jobs, (and the litany goes on and on!) --- NO one will believe results from 'fixed' voting machines. Senate is to meet in SECRET SESSION behind 'Closed Doors' soon... they haven't done that since pre -Impeach Clinton days. See story here:

Deja vu Watergate. Does anyone else smell the stench rising from the White House?
Blessed be Saturn.
actually Grandma Jo, some people ARE still Bush worshippers: Rush listening- Fox viewer types. As a liberal dreamer, I wish otherwise, but we can't let our hopes cloud reality.

House panel sidetracks resolution calling for spy probe
Under a thick partisan overcast, the House International Relations Committee on Wednesday sidetracked a resolution calling for a congressional probe of the circumstances surrounding the public outing of a CIA agent whose husband had debunked a Bush administration claim that Iraq obtained uranium from Africa.
By a 24-22 margin, the GOP-controlled committee voted along straight party lines to report the resolution adversely to the House. In effect, such votes quash any chance that a measure like this would ever be taken up or, in this case, that a prompt election-year congressional inquiry into this case would be launched.

Gay marriages in New York town
Feb. 27, 2004 | NEW PALTZ, N.Y. (AP) -- Up to a dozen gay couples began exchanging wedding vows on the steps of village hall Friday in a spirited ceremony that opened another front on the growing national debate over gay marriage.
Officiating was Jason West, the 26-year-old Green Party mayor in this village 75 miles north of New York City, who joined Gavin Newsom of San Francisco as the country's only mayors to marry same-sex couples.
"What we're witnessing in America today is the flowering of the largest civil rights movement the country's had in a generation," West said.
Billiam van Roestenberg, 38, and Jeffrey McGowan, 39, were the first to wed to the cheers of the crowd. Wearing suits, they held hands and carried flowers.

bhakti! i laughed my head off at your last line! the one that starts with 'truly',....it truly said it all! anyway, you can get hindu and say karma reveals all, so one can't run away from accountability.
and grandma jo, don't quote carl jung! carl jung was a constipated twat!
9th grade 'spirituality' is really such a bore, this site should stick to astrology unless you're really going to go through it with me, and draw the circle how it is, not in some half assed way that is displeased with any unpleasant scary resolve/mirror.
so many bring on their own curses, where they could be merely tests and all it leads to is being lost in folly..all together..in folly hell, based on faithlessness and fake self love, for there is no self love with disdain for the god head, only self-loathing.
Roxanne, I only wish I'd had some spiritual teachings in the 9th grade, instead of the hogwash I got in Sunday School. I was put off by Christianity at a very early age. I was eager to expand my conciousness and could not relate to the teachings of the bible. I like to believe that freedom of religion can also mean freedom from religion. It has nothing to do with any disdain for the godhead, as you put it.
Jung had some interesting theories. The ego being identified with the conscious mind - then the personal unconscious (including anything which is not presently conscious) and even more interesting, the collective unconscious - where we all have a recognition of certain symbols in our inner and outer lives. This rings true; however, I suspect it is all much deeper than even Jung could imagine.
This is quoted from Seth Speaks: "Limited, dogmatic, or rigid concepts of good and bad can hold you back. Too narrow ideas of the nature of existence can follow you through several lives, if you do not choose to be spiritually and psychically flexible. These rigid ideas can act as leashes, in such cases, through perhaps a group of existences, you will find yourself battling against ideas of good and evil, running about in a circle of doubt, confusion and anxiety. . . . Many of your ideas of good and evil are highly distortive and shadow all understanding you have of the nature of reality."
I have just seen on CCTV-9 here in China that Osama Bin Laden has been captured in Pakistan. We have been expecting this as the October Surprise. Betsy
Well I should not have posted so soon. They are now saying it was a mistake. OBL has not been captured. Betsy
Well I should not have posted so soon. They are now saying it was a mistake. OBL has not been captured. Betsy
Tsk, tsk, tsk, Roxanne.
IIRC, you have whole bunch of sagittarius stuff at play in your chart and dogmatism is not the prettiest side of Sag energies.
And if I'm incorrect, I apologize.
I made a mental note of it (sag stuff) some time ago, because your screeds drove me f/ckin' crazy, until I read of your struggles with your child and developed some compassion.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=540&e=2&u=/ap/20040228/ap_on_re_mi_ea/bin_laden

The claim came at a time when Pakistan's army was hunting al-Qaida suspects in a remote tribal region along the border with Afghanistan, believed to be a possible hiding place for the al-Qaida leader. The report was carried by Iran radio's external Pushtun service, which is designed for listeners in Afghanistan and Pakistan where the language is widely spoken.
Iran state radio's main news channel — the Farsi-language service for Iranian listeners — did not carry the bin Laden report. Iran state television also did not carry the report.
The director of Iran radio's Pushtun service, Asheq Hossein, said he had two sources for the report. The radio quoted its reporter as saying bin Laden had been in custody for a period of time, but a U.S. announcement of the capture was being withheld by President Bush (news - web sites) until closer to the November election.
"Osama bin Laden has been arrested a long time ago, but Bush is intending to use it for propaganda maneuvering in the presidential election," he said.

Laurie, thanks so much for the reminder of the Seth books. Good quote.
Looking at the March 20th chart, I'd say we are in for a heck of a year. My hope is that we all will use the energy to wake up and take back our lives, and our way of life in the most positive sense.
Pat, when you say "a heck of a year," what is your interpretation? I loved Viki's interp, but I'm always for second and third opinions, to form a consensus. Can you comment?
I second my thanks on the Seth quote, thanks Laurie. also to bbuster for his latest interpretation :)
Roxanne, please take accountability for your words which swing between 'love and bliss' of christ to anger, distain, negative, and illogical towards us here and about the political scene. We all need to take accountablity. I stand behind my words which were reflected in Laurie's Seth quote. Either side of the opposites will never work. It is our free choice to decide our individual paths inbetween the opposites. In fact, my understanding is that evil = ego, the veils that keep us from our own godhead. We are taught to put God outside of ourselves that we are lower than God, but I see myself as in alignment and a co-creator with that godhead, never beneath it. The heirarchy of our current churches, synagogues, mosques, etc just play up the higher/lower thing. Another opposite.
I am not a Hindu but believe in what resonates in my soul and the fundamentalist, bigotted ways I see using the name of Jesus to uplift suffering, hatred, self-hatred, prejudice, stupidity (think KKK and BushCabal) just proves my point and does not resonate with me. My Nikes are on.
Pat, thanks for the link re SSA ordered to turn away SF marriage licenses... I don't know about any of you, but I'm puzzled by the interjection of the SSA into this. First of all, in our State, marriage licenses are issued by the local County Probate Court... they are completed by the clergy or civil official who officiates at the 'marriage'. Not everyone these days actually 'changes' their name --- so that's a mute function of the SSA --- in other words, the SSA obstructing that would be no big deal. However, the big deal would come when in the future the same-sex spouse dies and the surviving spouse files for benefits. But I thought the SSA benefits and the IRS filings were a part of the "civil rights" Gays are seeking. NPR devoted an hour last week to 'DOMA' and its more than 1,000 regulations pertaining to the institution of 'marriage' [that's probably more than there are positions in the Kama Sutra! ;)] and heaven only knows what the IRS will accept now --- maybe even common-law marriage no longer qualifies for joint filing, never mind same-sex. I don't really know what my point is here... I simply question the threat of preventing the filing of marriage licenses with SSA. Hey, it doesn't matter anyway, right? The Repugs are going to do away with the SSA and the Dept. of Education if we let them, right? I have an image of the paper tiger growling and all the while, folks are doing what they want to do, that is get married. So the control freaks can stomp their feet all they want... folks are going to do what makes them happy.
laurie..you were still in sunday school in 9th grade? i was reading seth in fact! funny again! no there's no anger or disdain bhakti, but what is illogical is your analysis of ego/evil and the contradiction of running if you're accused of being a sinner? i mean, how can we discuss anything like this if you cannot see that? that giving up the ego is being accountable for one's actions. but to each his own.
jonathan, you're a pisces, i love pisces men! and they love me! but i've got mars at 27 virgo, so there we go! i'm glad you'll have a meaningful bday this year - cool! i'll actually be in ny on that day, coming back from london. i've got my bush terrorist button already on my coat.
and bbuster, sag is defined more as it's icon, the arrow (which hurts its true) of truth, than of dogma..dogma is way too saturnine to be jupiterian...no? but it's the virgo in me that wants everyone to be perfect that of course is annoying, granted!
Roxanne, I grew up in the South. In this Baptist Church they have Sunday School for all ages, even adults. Or I guess you could call it Bible Study for the elders.
My Sun conjuncts your Mars so I guess that's why your posts are so utterly irritating to me. Isn't astrology wonderful?!
Eh Grandma Jo, I'm lovin' it that these rightwingers have their knickers in a twist. More power to civil disobedience. Lots of energies seeding the future. Seth Speaks, thanks for for the reminder.
yes laurie it's great! and i mean that down to the hippest part of my heart.
the south had the music.
i'm from brooklyn, no catholic school past 6th grade..yet there's something still meaningful in it though, although originally it conspired to put me off.
so you're a virgo. virgos rock forever! mary was a virgo. can you dig it?
how do 'they' know? those romans never stopped being pagans did they?
Roxanne,
Thanks for the Birthday Wishes and have a great time in London (get some fish and chips!). Actually, I'm a 0 degrees Aries conjunct a 0 Degrees Aries North Node. But I do have all of that Trine my Neptune, so I've got a bit of the Pisces influence in me.
Thanks again for the birthday wishes guys. Little early! (hee hee) but definitely brightens my day.
Jonathan
One more point we need to take note of, Saturn will be stationary, and starts a direct motion on 3/21. Wild energies we're faced with, changes, Super Tuesday will have been decided. Are we ready to rock?
Morgana,
Thanks for info --- I have an ephemeris but it's not extremely accurate as it covers 50 years... and when I looked at the station, Direct seemed to be a day or two away --- I trust your date more... and I must say I have always found stations and change in direction to be quite significant. Guess what else the Brits are doing on 3/20 (the protestors, that is)? They're petitioning The Hague to bring Bush & Blair up for war crimes ---
http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=story_29-2-2004_pg4_1
Stop the War Coalition threatened this time last year that if Blair continued to support Bush in what many legal experts considered an illegal war they would make them accountable. I had an earlier link to the Scot Spectator newspaper but I can't find it now --- the above will do though.
Marjorie Orr has an update on Blair at Astro4cast and Clare Short is really socking it to Blair over the Katherine Gun episode and the UN spying --- after a quiet ten days or so, the British press is agog again over their PM... My thought is if the Brits bring Blair down, it can't possibly help Bush who was joined at the hip with the PM during the disinformation leading up to the war. My psyche feels absolutely bombarded today with all the news... you were right on the money: "All the dark nasty secrets will come spilling out." And Sally's question: "...will the people believe all the secrets" is yet to be answered. I'm ready to rock... I'd take to the street today with all this pent-up energy I have --- guess I'll have to wait until 3/20!
Eh Grandma Jo, I picked the saturn motion up from another article, however, looking at my Maynards has Saturn SD on March 7 which is close to the full moon on the 6th....my bad for not checking myself until a couple minutes ago and assuming another astrologer had it right. cripes. I'll be marchin' in spirit, can't walk yet.
Morgana,
Mar 7 is same day I have for Direct --- but my brain waves were a little scrambled, as I was recalling the Retro date I had noticed when I was checking transits for Nov 2 --- Saturn begins station for Rx motion I think on the 6th of Nov which is a couple of days out from election. Spirit marchin' is just fine... Thanks for the recheck --- Peace
Miss Roxanne,
My Virgo moon loves to be right, also.
Here are lines just plucked off Google, without going very deep at all:
However, Sagittarius has its down side. ... In its inexperience it can be self-righteous, condescending, opinionated and dogmatic in spiritual and philosophical. . .
... Along with all these mental pursuits, however, comes the tendency to be dogmatic
and argumentative. Sagittarius may even like to argue just for the sake of ...
Sometimes they are so confident their deductions are beyond dispute they become dogmatic and argumentative. ...
And that was without trying at all - first page, top ten search results.
Morgana,
I always enjoy your columns and commentary. And Bahkti's - a kindred soul.
Uranus in Pisces - and we didn't forsee the uprising
/rebellion of the gay community - and I agree with
those who mentioned - this is the beginning of the
civil disobedience, rebellion of the American people I mentioned awhile back. Wonderful isn't it! And about time!!! I'm amused at the neo-con reaction - "next it will be people marrying chickens"...anyone who watches some of the cable educational shows would have learned some time ago that "gay" sexuality exists even in the animal kingdom, not just with homosapiens.
Uranus in Pisces has brought us Gibson;s violent and unredeeming "religious" movie, the "truth" of 4000 + Catholic priests who for over 50 years have
assaulted (ahem) "10,000" small male children - Uranus is shock - and can also be "the breaking up of" - Is this the breaking up of the Catholic Church? Better yet is this the signal of the breakup - the last straw for the Bush/Falwell brand of Talibanism - crazy fundamentalist religions?
I certainly hope so. What an odd combination. Uranus is truth and Pisces is lies.
Odd diseases, viruses, fish being poisoned, how's the water supply - and why is the US government experimenting with Ebola disease? News of a lab worker (I think it was around Wash. DC) accidentally sticking herself with a needle and they're watching her for Ebola. and how about Uranus in Pisces and a lil radiation poisoning?
And finally, did you all hear that the electronic voting machines failed badly during Super Tuesday, and the official report that the voting machines are easily hacked, unreliable, and not working properly over most of the country? And Diebold refuses to answer any questions about them. Lou Dobbs questions " How are these going to be fixed
by election time" but Diebold CEO refuses to come on TV and discuss it.
Uranus also represents government. And it occurs to me that Uranus in Pisces suggests the dissipation - the meltdown of the government, as well as of the electronic media.....
feel free to add to the list. Electronic spying is another one.
And one other thing on my mind. Albert Gore kept
saying he would put Social Security in a LOCKBOX.
He knew. He knew exactly what the goppers were planning to do - and America and his own party wouldn't listen.
When are the democrats going to give him credit for saying that ? notice they never mention him?
John Kerry? I'm not pleased. Of course anything is better than the chimp, but this is just another political hack who has no idea what serious condition the middle class of this country is in -
Does anyone think a man who lives on and enjoys his wife's $400 million inheritance knows the cost of
medicine and doctors? He hasn't done much as a Senator - except go along - why would anyone expect him to make the drastic changes and reversals of the chimp administrations' policies that are needed?
I for one don't expect that from him. I hope I'm wrong. The one strong hope here is that Dean, Edwards, Sharpton, and Kucinich will force the DNC and DLC to take on their platform.
drastic changes
inheritance
And whoever above menti
Pallas180,
I agree with you 100%. The People have to rock this oountry and say ENOUGH!
I'm just croneing and at fifty I have lost my retirement (courtesy of Enron), started over and now S/S is being raped? It's up to the People to take care of themselves and each other. I'm sick of their 'punishments' to states, groups, religions. These are awful awful men and women. May they all rot in jail where other mass murders are incarcerated. This using 9/11 in ads, that's backfiring. The People have to speak up, speak out and speak often!
Thomas Jefferson on his 5 cents worth, must be losing his cookies on whichever side of the veil he stands over his new nickel. Our government doesn't resemble the one he knew.
Yeah whoever thought of gay civil disobedience. They rock! Me, I've been spiritually uniting gays/lesbians for several years, I hope Santa Cruz follows suit with San Francisco as I'd like all these folks to be 'legal' and have the same rights I enjoy with my husband.
Pallas180, I saw your piece at DU and thought it was great. Here's my 2cents.
My feeling on Kerry is that yes, it will probably be business as usual, but as a large ship takes several miles to change course or stop, so too will the entrenched way of doing things take some considerable time to change. My underlying feeling is that he will possibly begin the course correction but that change may not be perceived until he is well out of office and he may not really get any credit for it. The change will be driven by some sort of revolution - peaceful or otherwise. I recently read an article written by him a few years ago that portrayed a quite surprising underlying sense of "new age" spirituality, which gives me hope for him. The problem is the game that he has chosen to play in is rigged.
My sense in the bigger picture is a general uncovering of all things untruthful put forward by authoritarian rulers. Bush company lies in these recent weeks have been instantly exposed in one way or another. To me the roman catholic church expose symbolizes not so much the homosexual behavior (and predation of youth by some) covered up by the church hierarchy, which I strongly suspect has been a common thread since roman empire days, but that the church has been instrumental in many world government powers for the past 2000 years, and that allegiances of "christian right" are trying desperately to create a resurgence of that role. Perhaps Bush is there to play a sort of Judas role - people are resistant to real change unless things get really bad. And I agree, change is going to happen whether people want to come to the table kicking and screaming or not.
Pallas 180, thanks for the compliment!
What's really scary is the Christian Right knows thay can use the Gibson film for their own benefit. Church groups had movie theatres booked months in advance. Thus the 'biggest' sales on openning day. Each crappy film out has 'the biggest' each week until another crappy movie opens. The pre pub hype was fueled through church groups as they previewed the movie before the relesae date.
What is so fascinating to me (scary too) is the church promotes exactly what it tells us to renounce. Violence, separation, hate and intolerance towards fellow human beings, all to keep the false heirarchal power in place. All the bizzareness going on might wake up some more souls to the hypocrisy. They are anti-gay yet molest young boys. GWB is a psychologically repressed being who had what is obvious a very poor upbringing.
Coming from such hateful parents how else could one be unless they rebelled. GW is a wishy-washy addict. They are prone to lying, dodging, people pleasing, passive-aggressive behavior, not keeping thier word or taking responsibility. I know alot of dry drunks, believe it or not there are alot in my yoga group! Not my cup of tea.
People who do not think far enough ahead inevitably have worries near at hand.
