The Lemonade Factor
George Bush is currently basking in the glory of a myriad of recent successes.
In the blink of an eye, a presidency mired in foreign quagmires and massive deficits pirouetted into the warm glow of a multitude of seeming triumphs. It began with the new Medicare prescription drug benefit and the 8.2% economic growth recently reported. Since then, Saddam has been captured, Libya’s Mohammar Qaddafi has given up his weapons of mass destruction, and the Dow has risen above 10,000. Bush even grabbed some accolades for his surprise Thanksgiving visit to the troops, despite the little-known plastic turkey with which he posed. In an increasingly Attention Deficit America, the news of the previous month was blown away like a wisp of smoke. Perhaps we need Ritalin in the water supply.
For those who feel they were just getting some traction on a hoped-for ouster of George Bush in November 2004, gloom has set in for the holidays. The pundits claim he is now invincible, and seem impervious to the speed with which unexpected events can also sabotage a sitting president. Nonetheless, for the moment, George Bush is on a roll, and his increased popularity is likely to continue, at least through January 2004.
The most significant astrological factor empowering Bush’s rise to the mountaintop has been the Jupiter station sitting in opposition to the Inaugural Venus, ruler of the Inaugural chart. This dazzling combination of Jupiter and Venus, intensified by the slowness of Jupiter’s motion, brings with it success, achievement, and popularity for the administration. This aspect literally came into one-degree orb with the passage of the Medicare drug bill. It continues through January 2004.
In addition, Bush will gain a bounce in popularity in January from the strong planetary focus on his Venus: his progressed Moon will be square to natal Venus and transiting Pluto will be sextile to Venus, both running for most of the month. These will intensify Bush’s “likeablity quotient”, and people will find him attractive and charming, thereby upping his poll numbers.
But other trends besides this rather shallow popularity contest will also be bubbling up during January, possibly fueled in part by the currently accepted notion in the neocon White House that bullying works and the Bush Doctrine of preemption is a great success. The pit bulls are now back in the driver’s seat due to the recent wave of favorable news. Intimations of some kind of aggressive action by the administration in January may be seen in the coming transit of Uranus square Inaugural Jupiter (1/5 –1/26/04), the first transit of Pluto opposite the US Mars (12/28/03 – 1/26/04), and Bush’s converse progressed Moon conjunct his natal Mars (12/24/03 – 1/24/04). Here we find combined the administration’s expansion and aggression (Uranus/Inaugural Jupiter), a fierce and angry enemy engaging the country (Pluto/US Mars), and Bush becoming aggressive and angry (converse Moon/Mars). Other indications suggest that these more military activities may continue through most of May 2004.
It is also worth noting that Neptune, the planet of unrealistic thinking and grandiose schemes, will be reasserting its hold on the administration after several months of the cold dose of reality afforded by Saturn. Pluto is currently square to the Bush/Rumsfeld composite Jupiter/ Neptune conjunction (12/11/03 – 1/14/04), the source of their folie a deux plans to transform the world in America’s image. In February, Neptune will be quincunx Bush’s Sun, in late January and early February it will be quincunx the US Sun, and by March, it will be sitting in station squaring the Inaugural Ascendant until early July. All of these transits suggest that the initial enthusiasm that comes from Bush’s current victories may stimulate more of the ideological and grandiose foreign policy that got us into Iraq in the first place. It further suggests a lack of practicality, an underlying dishonesty, including the tendency for self-deception, and a set-up for ultimate disappointment when the cold hard truth makes itself known after the Neptunian fog clears.
It may be, however, that February and March 2004 (2/8 –3/23/04) will bring some diminishment in Bush’s bright star. The Saturn station of that period will be stationary exactly semisquare to Bush’s Venus. This does not suggest a plummeting in the polls so much as a dipping and a lack of the strong shine of he will have enjoyed in December and January. The Saturn station will also be conjunct Condoleeza Rice’s South Node and square to Paul Bremer’s Sun. So obstacles and difficulties will begin to surface once again, likely in Iraq.
I think it is important to point out that from June 2003 through October 2003, the Bush administration underwent numerous Saturn transits, some long, some short in duration, but the sum total of which suggested a very difficult period. And indeed it was. From the beginning of June, the clamor began about the missing weapons of mass destruction. The clamor then rose several notches with the increasingly pervasive idea that much of the evidence used to promote the war was exaggerated or bogus. When Saturn came into orb of the US Sun in late September, almost to the day, the Washington Post printed the story that two White House officials had called several journalists with the name of an undercover CIA agent. The uproar over this lasted through the Saturn transit in mid-October and then dimmed down as news from Iraq got worse and worse, and the focus increasingly shifted toward the unfolding disaster there.
The impact from the major Saturn transit to the US Sun is now only background and will remain so until June 2004. None of the facts have changed – the lies to get us into Iraq, the outing of the CIA agent, the disaster on the ground in Iraq, the burgeoning deficit, etc. – but the focus has shifted with the planets. Due to recent events, many see Bush now through lens of success. But just because George Bush was able to take a little lemon juice and make it into lemonade doesn’t belie the fact that this presidency is a whopper of a lemon. This will become quite apparent during the next intensive series of difficult transits coming to the Bush administration, which, taken together, will spell a downward spiral and the likelihood of ultimate failure. This shift will begin in early June 2004 and will continue with great intensity for about 7 weeks with the return of Saturn to the US Sun, moving then to conjunct Bush’s Sun and square Bush’s Moon, Chiron, and Jupiter. Then it will recommence from the beginning of September 2004 and continue through mid-January 2005, when Saturn conjuncts the Inaugural IC, squares Bush’s Midheaven, and conjuncts his Saturn. The Bush administration is likely to spend the winter of 2004 assuming that the world will continue to bow before its glorious mission, but it may very well be that the Universe has other plans.

Thank you for that much-needed astrological "fix". I wonder how energized the Democratic base (and those all-important swing voters) will be during the Democratic convention with Bush, apparently, being hit with some difficult transits at that time and perhaps down in the dumps publicly. Perhaps the Democratic candidate for President will begin to get a bit more attention as a serious contender when Bush&Co. hit the skids this Summer.
Thanks again for another wonderfully written and informative article. You're the best!
Jonathan
Nancy, one can hope the universe has some very big plans! Someone sure should! Any more of this, and we'll never recognize ourselves.
Thank you once more for your great work!
Thanks, Jonathan! I just know how down everyone has been lately with all of Bush's recent good luck aspects. So I went over everything again, and I still think the cumulative effect of so much Saturn from June 1 through mid July and then again from September onward will be too much for him to withstand. Interestingly, Jupiter returns to 18 Virgo for about a week in late July, but the impact will be minimal compared to the two months it is there now.
Nancy,
I'm right in believing that there are those who can handle a Saturn transit very well, right? But, if that's true, looking at the Bush Administration's handling of the last Saturn pass would indicate that they DON'T handle the extra Saturn energy well. So, you're more than likely correct that this Summer's upcoming Saturn pass could very easly beat down Bush et al. and put a sane, intelligent Democrat in the White House.
Fingers crossed.
Jonathan
Apparently, the BushCos must really believe that God is on 'their side' now that it's holiday time. Oh (Big) Brother!
Have been lurking for a while. Love you guys and gals and Happy Holidays fellow Earth Citizens.
Does anyone see possibility of major terrorist attack coming in next several days? Could this be pluto transtiting US natal mars? Or just the administration crying wolf again.
Feels more serious this time-but I live in NYC and we always feel we're in the bullseye-
Jane
just finished Sally's article, with her wonderful ability with words, to read yours Nancy and be awed by your always astute astrological analysis. Thanks so much for your time, effort, and the sharing of your gifts.
Great article Nancy, it's always a treat to have two of your articles in a row. Thanks
Jane - I can find nothing that suggests terrorism in this country over the next month. Despite the Pluto tranist opp US Mars, which could rattle some things in January, there is not a big trigger to it pointing to one big event. The biggest danger time I can find, and it could mean anything including terror, is at the end of April. Pluto is retrograding toward US mars again, Mars is conjunct US Mars, and Mercury is stationary at 21 Aries, acting as a potential trigger. April 23 through May 4th look like a potentially violent period. This can also easily manifest in Iraq or Afganistan. But with US Mars as ruler of the US 4th ouse, there is homeland potential as well.
What a terrible world these people in power want to create! It's ok with me if they reap what they sew as long as they leave the rest of us out of it.
Very good article, Nancy. What about the 9/11 hearings next month? Do you have any astrological insight into what might happen regarding Bush and his mis-administration?
Bush has very strong popularity indicators in January.I hope the 9/11 hearings will go through February and March when he isn't nearly as strong.
January: transiting Jupiter stays opposite Inaugural Venus; Bush's progressed Moon squares natal Venus; transiting Pluto sextiles natal Venus (triggers Moon/ Venus progression - very strong).
So prepare for increased popularity polls through January.
February begins the Saturn station semsiquare to his Venus. That will not be comfortable since it is so exact, especially in March.
By the way, I just updated my Timeline if anyone wants to take a look. I'll be leaving for New York tomorrow for a few days and I wanted it current.

Other than the December and January period, I think 2004 will be increasingly difficult for Bush, as nostradamus has said above. It may be that the Uranus transit to the Iraqi Ascendant in March will bring some major rebellion. Bremer has the Saturn station square his Sun at the same time.
it is all about public perception (at home) for bush&co-and karl rove is mista fixit everytime bush's numbers dip-every single time, karl makes sure to create the perception the perfect-timing magic-no matter what aspects bush may be having or the admin-bush will either fall extremely hard on his sword with saturn aspects, et al near election time or his "fake" (neptune) perception numbers" will pull him just over the edge into the white house for a seond term. Perhaps it will be a nixon-redeux-powerful forces against him will finally create the conditions to force him out of office one way or another. So far, those that truly oppose the bushco's are doing a really lousy job of "making their case" and exposing the lies and the admin's dangerous policies - including the significant lack of outrage from bush's so-called fundamentalist base and blue collar workers, they get NOTHING from this prez, they are losing their jobs on the hour and continue to support him!
Indeed, Saturn is a slow boiling cauldron.
Dear Nancy,
You bring us these analysis with such concern for our distress...empowering in the more divine sense of the word than "powers" about us trying to dictate what illusions we must live by...Your timeline was well thought out - never referenced it before - will look regularly...Thank you for maintaining the thread of human decency in these dark times - I wish I knew more about mundane astrology - am trying to learn here a bit. I am learning to be more compassionate during these times - especially for those here (USA) blindly supporting our government's ridiculous rhetoric that we must fight for "freedom" abroad in the most arrogant, violent and unforgiving of ways - I think God must be crying for us now...
Katrin - I think the white man vote theory applies to the "popularity" for Bush - as you noted with Rove's careful crafting it is the only voice aloud to be heard these days...there is no truth in it really - people are suffering greatly as has been played out this holiday season in my life quite intensely and there is no time or energy for most who are hit hardest to admit to Bush's part in it...sorry for the losses in California earthquake but these will be the acts that force Americans to make different choices in spite of these warlord agendas - The flags desecrated by use on car antennae are disappearing almost completely except for the most arrogant few imperialist who stick the huge ones in the center of the back of their gas guzzling megatrucks.
Namaste,
M.
In several articles it's been suggested that if Bush is re-elected he'll be forced to resign within two years.
If that happens, who do you think will replace him? I mean, do you think Cheney will take over? Or does it look like he might also have to step down? If so, the next man in line is the Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert. Has anyone looked at his chart? According to his Congressional Biography he was born on January 2, 1942, in Aurora, Kane Co., IL. Of course, they don't list a time.
I've enjoyed reading everyone's articles and would love to have your input on this subject.
I'd be overjoyed to see Bush gone, but I'm rather worried about his possible replacement. I don't find the prospect of either a Cheney or Hastert Presidency very comforting!
"Bush has very strong popularity indicators in January.I hope the 9/11 hearings will go through February and March when he isn't nearly as strong."
Nancy, I believe they are supposed to continue well into next spring, ending sometime in May or June.
Mary - That is very good news that the hearings will continue for several months. I continue to think the real shift downward for Bush will come in late May to early June 2004. I just read an article by Mark Shields that gives some hopeful perspective:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/12/29/column.shields.opinion.perspective/
I don't know about Bush being forced out two years into the next term. I have not given it any thought. I still am leaning heavily toward his defeat in 2004. I am hoping he keeps Cheney with him as VP, since their composite is so miserable in the fall of 2004, and Cheney has a prolonged Saturn Venus aspect after the Inaugural for a few months. I would hate to see these rather difficult aspects wasted with another VP candidate.
Madeline - I am indeed concerned about people's distress right now. There is a terrible, almost palpable sense of helplessness and gloom in the face of the GOP juggernaut. But I truly feel that as bad as the June through October 2003 period was for Bush, we will see another period like it beginning this June. And this current December and January period we are in now is especially trying (for us, not him).
Just out of curiousity I did a google search on Bush and all the Demo candidates - "xx 2004". What was fascinating to me was the number of site hits. Note the numbers - if activity volume means anything, hopefully, dean is in and bush is toast.
Dean 692000; Kerry 200000; Clark 187000; Edwards 140000; Kucinich 82700; Leiberman 82200; Gephardt 69100; Sharpton 69100; Braun 2230:
total dems = 1524330
Bush = 1130000
Yesterday I came home from work early and found Sylvia Browne on TV. Since it was promised she would discuss world affairs, I watched. She agreed with Nancy that John Kerry would be the Democratic nominee, but she said she was afraid GW would win the election. It was not a definite. She also said Saddam would begin talking and name countries(she wouldn't say which) that would result in huge political repercussions. Finally she said that N. Korea would attack(didn't say where) ansd we would go to war again. Could the January agressiveness from this administration be there?
Midge, if this makes you feel any better, I just read that Sylvia Browne picked Bill Bradley (?!) to win in 2000.
It makes me feel better, Paula. Many thanks. And if I might add, I think we posters comprise a good little support group. There are a few bumps now and again, but overall I think we have a positive effect on each other.
Thanks Paula. I do realize that a psychic reading is just a potential for the moment in time the reading takes place. And we, as humans on this planet, now have more options than any time in recorded history. So, the readings aren't always too reliable. I guess I just feel so sad every time I hear someone say Bush will win the election. I'd still like to hear how anyone out there feels about the N. Korea statement.
I was just looking at Dean's chart again. There is nothing negative around the time of the election and a few positives that could be strong enough to pull him through. The Venus Jupiter conjunction is moving towards a semisquare with his Sun and trine his Moon for the election. The aspects from Venus are exact the 5th and 6th and from Jupiter 9th through the 15th. Then Jupiter is square his Asc from the 16th to the 21st. So there is enough Venus and Jupiter in there during November to describe a post election high.
The most striking thing for him is the very strong aspects from mid January to mid February 2005. I do think if he is nominated he could win. My doubts have primarily been centered on the Saturn aspect during the convention. I don't know what to make of that. Nor what tomake of Kerry's Jupiter on the MC at the same time. I would also expect there to be more aspects for Dean for the election, but I think there is enough. If indeed he has Cancer rising, a trine from Venus and a trine from Jupiter to his Moon could be pretty nice.
I have been working on the New Year's chart for the US and for Iraq and Afghanistan. This looks to be a very difficult year, especially the early 5 months. I can't see Bush making much of a success out of these planets.
Nancy, forgive me for saying this (and it does strike deep fear in my heart), but what if the difficulty you are having in dealing with those charts is, basically, because there is the very real threat that "they" will move their warning to code red, and refuse to let us vote because "they" will be absolutely sure of a terrorist strike around November 2? If it is possible for you to address this kind of thing. I'm longing to read it. Thnx!
