Presidential Politics
The blistering battle for the Democratic nomination is now in high gear. Passionate followers of the various candidates duke it out with their counterparts from other campaigns all across cyber space, with barely six nail-biting weeks to go before Iowa and New Hampshire. Former Governor Howard Dean, the current frontrunner, has clearly run a remarkable campaign, with many already gleefully anticipating that he will win the nomination. Al Gore’s recent endorsement of Dean has jolted the primary landscape and added enormously to Dr. Dean’s prestige, viability, and, perhaps, inevitability. Many, however, continue to fear that a Dean candidacy will doom the country to four more years of President Bush and his incredibly disastrous policies. To these concerned Democrats, Dean’s total lack of foreign policy or military experience and his plan to eliminate all of Bush’s tax cuts seem ripe for a Republican assault that will leave him, and us, in tatters. Questioned at a fundraiser one night, Dr. Dean gave as his birth time 7:21 PM. Despite the seemingly irrefutable source (himself), I still have doubts about the accuracy of this data and so will avoid focus on predictions most specifically related to the exact time. Dean’s current popularity, success, and the intense feelings he inspires seem most clearly described in the converse progressions: converse Venus conjunct Pluto which peaked in June 2003; converse Venus conjunct converse Pluto which peaks in early March 2004; and converse Sun square Jupiter which also peaks in early March 2004. What is striking in these aspects is that of the two still active, both rapidly begin to dissipate by mid-March 2004. Thus, at least some of the powerful emotion surrounding the Dean candidacy (Venus/Pluto), as well as its over-abundant optimism and high success (Sun/Jupiter), may rapidly stream away in March 2004. There are the transits of Jupiter square to Dean’s Moon (3/23 to 4/3/04 and 5/26 to 6/9) and the transit of Venus to his Moon (6/20 to 7/7), all of which could give him a strong, temporary boost. But the general trend, especially from late March through early August 2004, is one of increasing difficulty and burden. The Uranus station of this period will be basically sitting in opposition to Dean’s Saturn. We can expect a series of sudden events that upset him and cause significant changes in their wake. If our given birth time is correct, these events may have to do with Dean’s penchant for making quick and witty remarks that come back to haunt him, such as the Confederate flag comment. Saturn in the 7:21 PM chart is in the third house of communications, an area where lessons will come when that Saturn is activated. Even more significant as a signal of possible trouble for the Dean candidacy are the aspects during the Democratic Convention. Here we find not only Uranus opposing Dean’s Saturn, but also Saturn squaring Dean’s Venus, especially strong from 7/27 through 8/4/04. This suggests that Dean will be distressed, upset, and pulling inward during this time. It is possible he will be the nominee but undergoing a great deal of opposition and difficulty from within the Party or from a Republican smear campaign at that time. Normally, the days of the Convention are when adoring crowds surround the nominee and the Party comes together to support him no matter what has gone before. It is a time of hope, energy, and restoration. This transiting Saturn square to Venus, especially seen in the light of Dean’s natal Saturn /Venus semisquare, suggests a sour mood that is generally incompatible with the experience of the Convention. One possible interpretation of these shifting aspects is that Dean does not win the nomination during the primaries or that it ends up being brokered at the Convention. Another possible interpretation relates to predictions I have made elsewhere about the increase in US military activity and its likely temporary success in the winter of 2004. It may be that such a scenario makes a Dean candidacy look less appealing by spring and increasingly problematic. Or, it may simply be that Dean does win the nomination by early March but then comes under the full frontal attack of the treacherous Rove propaganda machine and its vicious attack dogs in the media. In any event, things will go less smoothly for Dean from April through early August, and July and early August, in particular, will bring some very uncomfortable and problematic issues to the fore. I can find very little in Dean’s chart that suggests successful campaigning from August through early November 2004 or strong emotions around the time of the election. The transiting Saturn semisquare to his Moon from 9/ 12 - 9/24/04 and again from 12/6 – 12/23/04 even suggests some periods of emotional funk. This very uncomfortable aspect is again repeated during the Saturn station in early 2005, from 2/24 – 4/5/05. These aspects indicate times of emotional adjustment, difficulty, and introspection. There is a progressed Venus opposition to natal Uranus that grows in strength through the summer and fall of 2004, bestowing an electrical attraction in Dean and an appreciation for his unorthodox approach to things. This will become extremely beneficial when it comes into orb of Jupiter in December 2004 and thereafter. But it is not triggered by much of anything up until then, including during and immediately after the election. On the other hand, most of January through mid-February 2005 brings Dean’s progressed Moon into opposition with natal Jupiter, which has just begun to be influenced by the progression of Venus conjunct natal Jupiter. This is a very optimistic, popular, and beneficial aspect. Dean will be under this popularity-inducing progressed Venus/Jupiter aspect through most of 2005, as well as impacted by transiting Pluto conjunct Mars. Thus, the events around the Inauguration and through mid-February are generally quite positive for him, bringing him into a more general cycle of optimism, popularity, and powerful energy, with the brief exception of the mid-February to early April 2005 Saturn/Moon aspect. This indicates the possibility of a dynamic role in the next administration, but I continue to question, despite all evidence to the contrary, whether that will be as Commander-in-Chief. Senator John Kerry has fallen far behind in New Hampshire and many are predicting that his candidacy is all but dead in the water, eclipsed by the come-from-behind Dean. Despite current appearances, I am not altogether sure this will be the case. Kerry is just about to enter an extended period of Jupiter square his Sun that runs from 12/6/03 through 1/17/04. It is possible that the expansive and beneficial energy of this transit will facilitate enough of a comeback for Kerry to keep him in the running. In addition, late December will bring the beginning of the year-long transit of Pluto square to Kerry’s Midheaven, a very dynamic aspect that suggests intense striving for power and great attainment. It is particularly strong from late December through January 20 and then again in late March through May 2004. Its final pass covers the period from mid-October through mid-November 2004, exactly during and just after the election. It is always possible that this transit will lead to renewed vigor and leadership in the Senate, but it would seem to imply that Kerry’s run for the White House will take on new energy and power in January 2004 that will continue right through the election. Another very dramatic aspect coming to Kerry’s chart is the square from Uranus to his natal Ascendant. The first crossing comes between mid-March and early April 2004, simultaneous with a progressed Moon conjunction to Kerry’s natal Jupiter and a Jupiter transit square natal Mars. This promises to be a dynamic time for Kerry, of both great optimism and success, as well as a change in personal stature (Uranus/Ascendant). Uranus may bring some kind of reversal of direction or break with the past. This could imply either the end of his presidential campaign or a shift in the campaign that changes his status. I continue to wonder if at this point a brokered convention begins to seem likely. These aspects do not suggest defeat though they do imply a significant shift in the landscape. In late July and August 2004, the powerful Uranus square to Kerry’s Ascendant returns for the Democratic Convention and its aftermath, accompanied by Jupiter square to Kerry’s Sun in late July and then conjunct his Midheaven in August. For its final crossing, the Uranus transit returns for the entire month of January 2005, accompanied again by Jupiter, this time stationary and in sextile to Kerry’s Sun. With each pass, Uranus squaring Kerry’s Ascendant suggests a change in status, a change in location, and a stepped-up schedule with all kinds of unexpected events imposing themselves. That all three crossings are accompanied by strong Jupiter transits implies that these changes will be dynamic, expansive, and colored by success. Thus, despite current appearances, it is conceivable that Kerry will somehow regroup and make a dynamic comeback, perhaps even benefiting from a brokered Convention scenario and moving forward from there. A Vice Presidential run also seems to be a possibility. Otherwise, the combined Uranus and Pluto transits may cut him off from his presidential ambitions but move him into another very dynamic and energized role of leadership, possibly back in the Senate. I see no quiet defeat and withdrawal in his astrological picture. General Wesley Clark, despite his long and productive military career, is a newcomer to politics. Nonetheless, he seems to be picking up the rules of the game quickly and integrating them rapidly into his impressive presentation. Many are suggesting it will come down to a Dean/Clark battle for the nomination. At present, Pluto is conjunct Clark’s natal Mars, and his progressed Moon is trine natal Venus. But the Moon aspect is about to wane (exact 12/9/03), and the Pluto transit will weaken around Christmas 2003 for several months. Thus, it could be that December ends up being the most dynamic period in Clark’s campaign until May or June 2004. The current Pluto transit brings with it a focused and aggressive tone that is clearly moving Clark up in the polls and in people’s minds as a possible alternative to Dean. The stimulation of Venus also adds to his attraction to the voters. From mid-January through to mid-April 2004, however, there is a tremendous amount of Saturn influence that implies that Clark will lose ground in his campaign and perhaps even give it up entirely. This shows up in three separate charts. In Clark’s birth chart we find a natal Cardinal Grand Cross in which all four of the Cardinal signs are occupied with planets at hard angles to one another. This configuration includes the Sun, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, and Neptune. It implies a tremendous amount of energy, as well as a lot of struggle necessary to keep things moving along smoothly and to succeed in the achievement of goals. Difficulties may arise when either Saturn or Neptune transits one of the four corners of the cross. The Saturn/ Neptune dynamic in this configuration describes the underlying issue: an ongoing struggle between practicality (Saturn) and idealism (Neptune), between a lack of awareness of the details on the ground and being hit over the head by them. Beginning in mid-January for three months duration, Saturn will be making a station conjunct Clark’s natal Saturn (7Cancer47) and square his Neptune (6Libra22). This suggests a rather hard coming down to earth, and may be experienced like a bucket of cold water thrown on any dream of the presidency (Neptune). This theme is reiterated in Clark’s composite chart with the US which shows this same Saturn transit square the composite Sun (7Libra25). Clark’s solar return drawn up for Little Rock, Arkansas, likewise shows a strong Saturn transit during this same period when Saturn transits conjunct the IC (6Cancer49) and opposite the Moon (6Capricorn40). There are, however, two progressions involving Venus that intimate an increasing popularity and appeal enjoyed by Clark as 2004 unfolds. These are: progressed Midheaven square natal Venus (12/03 through 11/04) and progressed Venus square progressed Node (9/03 to 1/05), which in turn will be strengthened and then followed by progressed Venus square natal Node (11/04 through 11/05). All of these taken together suggest the personal charisma and popularity that are essential for an electoral victory. Some of this may manifest during the period from 2/21 through 3/6/04 when Jupiter both crosses Clark’s Midheaven and quincunxes Venus, thereby triggering the fortunate Venus/Midheaven progression. Several important primaries occur during late February/early March, suggesting that, despite Saturn, Clark may grasp some primary successes and potentially throw the nomination to a brokered convention. In addition, the transit of Neptune to Clark’s Venus from late February 2004 through January 2005, will also act as an activator of the progressed Midheaven/natal Venus square aspect. From mid-May to mid-July this aspect will be very strong and undiluted by Saturnian difficulties, thus further increasing Clark’s appeal. He will emanate a real sense of caring and compassion that people will respond to in a very positive way. Other factors will also come into play by May 2004 that may signify a radical shift for Clark as Saturn lifts and some significant power aspects enter the picture. From May through mid-November 2004, transiting Pluto will be square to Mars in the Clark/US composite chart. This suggests that his relationship with the country itself will go into high gear and people will be focusing on him intensively. In addition, another Pluto aspect of importance during this period will be the return of the powerful Pluto transit to Clark’s natal Mars, which will go from June through October 2004, bringing with it again the focus, drive, and forcefulness we are witnessing in December 2003. These aspects taken together lead me to wonder if Clark will go down in the early primaries only to rise again as the Vice Presidential nominee. They certainly suggest some kind of active, aggressive candidacy. Alternatively, they could imply a very aggressive entry into the private sector after the primaries, with work that brings him a great deal of recognition. But my sense is we may see him as the Vice Presidential candidate in the second half of 2004. Gephardt is currently going through the last month of a year-long Neptune transit to his natal Sun. When it passes in January, he may be willing to let go of his presidential aspirations and come back down to earth. He has also just completed the empowering Pluto transit to his natal Mars, which has given him a decided boost in focus and charisma during the 2003 campaign cycle. Although Gephardt has a few beneficial progressions that are worth noting, the only significant activation comes up just before and during the Iowa primary (1/17/04) and then dissipates. Currently, his progressed Jupiter is quincunx his natal Mars, ruler of the important career-indicating Midheaven. This progression has been building since January 2003 and continues through April 2005. From early December 2003 through January 21, 2004, transiting Jupiter will be square to Gepahrdt’s natal Mars, thus triggering the Jupiter/ Mars energy going on in his chart. This suggests a time of success and expansion of career potential and at least some level of triumph in Iowa - if not a win, then perhaps a close second. After that, the air seems to go out of his campaign.

Nancy, Wonderful article. And just what I needed to read tonight! Should Dean falter and a Kerry/Clark ticket rise, my suspicion is that the Bush-Rove machine wouldn't know WHAT to do. If they waste all their time and energy in destroying Dean, not only will they show themselves to be the mean, nasty, heartless politicos that they are (and I'm talking of Bush and Rove here), but they'll also find it that much more difficult to do the same to a Kerry/Clark ticket. But then again, I'm a member of the Anybody But Bush team. Santa Claus could run and I'd probably vote for him ... AND his elves! :-) Jonathan Posted by: Jonathan on December 13, 2003 01:55 AM.....even a gray poodle would do. Posted by: Pat on December 13, 2003 02:01 AMPersonally, I think Kerry/Clark would be a much safer bet than Dean against Bush. There are a lot of military that would like to not vote Republican who would be more comfortable crossing over to a Kerry Clark ticket. But I don't really see Dean faltering at all til March, so unless there is a brokered convention, I don't really understand it. Posted by: Nancy on December 13, 2003 02:37 AMgray poodles are great, Pat,lol. The insiders say it's gonna be Dean/Kerry. interesting, hunh? Come on folks, I'm sure I'm showing my bias here, but Kerry hasn't got NEAR the grassroots support that Dean does. I just can't see Dean faltering, no matter what his chart seems to say. Kerry is a good man, I know, but he has zero passion and zero charisma. He would not be elected. Just a gut feeling. Dean, on the other hand, will have thousands upon thousands out working for him because he represents the people and he has extremely strong supporters. Have you all been to a Dean Meet-up. It's unbelievable the strong support. I think it's either a Dean/Clark ticket or a Clark/Dean ticket. John Kerry just ain't got it, IMHO. Posted by: Laurie on December 13, 2003 03:23 AMHow about Clark/McCain or Kerry/McCain. I think McCain is ready to exact a just revenge against Smirk. What a way to do it! Posted by: Mike on December 13, 2003 03:43 AMthanks nancy for all the astro info..i doubt dean will NOT be the nominee..but i agree that the republicans are going to be absolutely ruthless..yet, if they know they have the machines fixed, they won't do much..they'll lay back and when bush steals it (again), will just say 'dean is out of step with the american people..' it can all be very heartbreaking, and i am preparing for the worst..all we can hope is that the repugs 'plan' just keeps cracking, as it's been since early summer..then no matter what they do, outside of fixing the machines, they will probably lose..y'know they've always been so good at making their victories seem inevitable, so good at it..remember that idiot dole? he really had me nervous, when the reality was he didn't have a chance..same thing will happen now-bush has no chance but yet we all worry, and that creates a negative energy in the cosmos for our hope, and perhaps ultimate outcome. ps -there's no way dean will pick kerry as a running mate: they look absolutely absurd standing next to each other..it'll be dean/clark, and they will win outside of a fix, OR if they get broken by the devils running the place..and don't forget what happened to wellstone.. Posted by: Roxanne on December 13, 2003 04:11 AMDean and Kerry would never run toegther. They are both from New England for starters and there is a lot of animosity between them as well. Posted by: Nancy on December 13, 2003 05:03 AMI agree it seems from this vantage point unlikely that Dean won't be the nominee. I still wonder about the birth time of 7:21 although it is what Dean himself said. But a different birth time could give more information that looks like a candidacy. A minute or two later, possible with a faulty clock, could give him a Jupiter transit to the IC during the Convention. It still doesn't give much around the election time, which I find surprising. And it still gives the underlying difficulties of the Saturn square to Venus for the Convention. Posted by: Nancy on December 13, 2003 04:29 PMI'm a little worried about Dean's safety at this point. As Roxanne said, look what happened to Wellstone. He was in the way of an important seat in the Senate. I wish we could contact his mother and ask her for the exact birthtime. However, back then they put birth mothers to sleep for the most part, so she may go by what the doctors said too. Anyway, with Saturn square Venus at the convention makes one wonder what the heck is going to be happening. Thanks so much Nancy for your good information and please keep up the great work! Posted by: Laurie on December 13, 2003 05:40 PMGreat article, Nancy. But I am still holding out hope for Dean. Regarding transiting Uranus opposing Dean’s Saturn, why couldn’t that be interpreted as him and his grassroots following going up against the Democratic Leadership (who hate him) and/or his increasing challenge to the Bush administration? Or that he must somehow bring together the revolutionary aspects of his campaign with the more conventional thinking of the party’s leaders once he has won the nomination. This may be very tricky. In addition, he would have to begin to move toward the center in order to attract voters beyond the democratic base without losing them. That would certainly be a Uranus/Saturn opposition theme. Regarding the Saturn square Venus, perhaps he is disappointed by someone or constituency that he expected would endorse him or he begins to worry that he will run out of funds. The fact that there are so many challenging aspects in his chart leading up to the election makes me think he will be the nominee. Everyone believes that the 2004 campaign will be especially nasty and close no matter who the democratic nominee will be and they will undoubtedly suffer many bouts of frustrations and be in “emotional funks.” It’s hard to believe that Dean would feel optimistic and satisfied around the inaugural if he weren’t the president. He doesn’t seem like someone who would take the spot of second banana very well. Also, when you were looking at his chart with his updated birth time in May 3003, you predicted that Saturn passing over his ascendant from August 2003 onward would make him appear stiff, overly serious and harsh, implying that he would increasingly lose popularity. But just the opposite seems to have happened. If the birth time is correct, then it would seem that Dean responds to the Saturn energy well in that he is becoming more focused and presidential, taking on more leadership qualities that people respond to. It is looking more and more Dean as Democratic candidate for 2004, may be Dean/Clark ticket. Dean Dear Nancy, This is all so interesting - I think it is interesting really what will happen with voting...with regard to Dean - there has to be someone who can beat Bush...I believe Dean presents some problems for the silent majority of non imperialists...I think his wanting to stay in Iraq is a big problem for some of us...and really I keep looking for someone who might be able to change their mind and do the right think - I do not totally like Clark but he is the only one who seems to have this ability...I am really watching the voter fraud concerns heating up - I want to keep the fire lit their...I hope absentee ballot voting helps this in the short run . Seems to me this is a good time to review Rove's chart because he is masterminding Bush's hooks and crooks...anyway as always thank you for your efforts - and all comments here...I get my ideas and inspiration and hope here...M. Posted by: Madeline on December 13, 2003 09:22 PMI'm not understanding a few things. The square aspects described in Kerrys chart, From the reading I am doing the square is seen as a lack of some essential element required for success or a block presented by There is a contradiction. Plus as a Dr. especially knowing the time of his birth --on every birth certificate--why question his accuracy? Many of us know also by mother, family members talk of birth time..the anecdotes. Only a deliberate wish to throw astrologers off track wld explain it. And I hardly think he'd need to do this. Dean's Sun in Scorpio puts Saturn transit in a trine..sounds good to me. What of Sun-p at 23 Cap conj or nr US Pluto. Jupiter into Li 2005 also looks mighty good trine his Mars-p "Gov. Howard Dean, M.D. in Burlington, Vermont as he declares his candidacy and launches "The Great American Restoration" Talk about lack of foreign policy and military expeerience and that is what the madman at WHouse The June 23 announcement of his camapign was really a staged event. It was not the beginning of the campaign, the moment when he decided to go for it. Stephanie - Your description of what the aspects might mean makes sense. The difficult aspects could well be the Republican attacks and/or some difficulties within the party. The Uranus square to Saturn is not necessarily so problematic. It is noteworthy that the strong positive progressions aren't there much from mid March to mid May, and the Uranus Venus only begins in May and is still weak and unaspected. It is the transiting Saturn square to Venus and its transiting semisquare to the Moon that he will feel adversely since he has aspects between Saturn and the Moon (square) and Saturn and Venus (semisquare) in his natal chart. I thinks something very uncomfortable is going on at the Convention. The good news for him is that that aspect only croses one time for a week or so. Posted by: Nancy on December 14, 2003 12:42 AMThere must be multiple interpretations for the aspects happening for Dean at convention time. As I said before, maybe the Saturn transit gives him gravitas make him more "stately" and he will watch his shoot from the hip demeanor, which will help him avoid shooting himself in the foot. Or maybe he is being slimed 100 ways to Sunday by the GOP (very likely). Maybe he sees what an awsome burden he is about to undertake. Perhaps he is under pressure by the dem establishment to take on a running mate he doesn't want. Can't Saturn in transit be a good influence under some conditions? I say this as a Dean supporter, but come on people, look at the picture today. None of the other campaigns have energized the base like this guy has, not even close, not even Clinton did this. At this point, unless Kerry starts to walk on water, or Dean, Clark and others flame out it is inconceivable that he could run away with the nomination or even have enough delegates for a brokered convention. National polls have him at five percent... Sharpton territory. Posted by: Larry on December 14, 2003 02:02 AMI like you, Larry. Please comment more. Betsy, I am also worried about that. We have discussed this before on this forum and I believe there may be a chance that the elections will be called off entirely, for reasons of national security (conveniently). I would be interested if there is any astrology that may back that up. Posted by: Laurie on December 14, 2003 02:41 PMA chart of the capture of Sadam relocated to DC, screams of dishonesty. Data from Bremer speech this morning is aprox. 8:30 pm. Iraq time, near Tikrit. Jean, that was my first thought when I heard the news this morning. I found it very convient that Saddam was captured right after the fact that Haliburton had overcharged the taxpayers $61M hit the news and did you watch Smirk squirm when he tried to explain what had happened and what he was going to do about it? Either the whole Saddam being captured was a fraud or they captured one of Saddam's many doubles!!! Posted by: Patrick on December 14, 2003 03:14 PMall hell is going to break loose now. I think they got Saddam. The Uranus transit opposite the Iraqi Sun (29Leo26) is exact today for the last time. And the Moon is in opposition to Uranus from late yesterday through today. It is the culmination of a transit that has gone on since last February 2003 and has been especially strong since mid September 2003 due to the Uranus station. The Sun is the ruler of the country. This is the fitting end of that transit. There may be some quiet there for a few weeks even. But then Uranus comes back to square the Iraqi MC for the last time in late January and then moves to oppose the Ascendant. This coincides with Pluto opposite the US Mars. I would think there will be more drama and rebellion and violence from late January through parts of 2004. Morgana - Does the Convention definitely begin at noon on the 24th? Venus, the chart ruler, is very strong. It has numerous tight aspects: trine Neptune, opposite Pluto, square Jupiter, sextile Mars and widely quincunx the Moon. It also trines the Ascendant. Posted by: Nancy on December 14, 2003 04:50 PMThe convention opens at 9am in Boston, July 26, 2004 according to Gephart web site. Voting is usually done on the following Thursday. But we can not do a chart for the voting as we have no start time yet, if it does start on the Thursday. Just looking at who of the candidates have any relation to the convention start chart, we find that Dean, Gephart, Kerry and Clark seem to be hanging in at that time. But skipping along. It is the Electorial College that really elects the president. The delegates each meet in their states and cast their votes which is opened and read by congress in Jan. Some of the delegates have to vote as the state voted on Nov. 2, general election, but some do not. (I remember this comeing up in the last election and held out hope that there where some mavericks that would switch to Gore). This is a possibility looking at the Neptune direct (that might release some lies just before the Nov election and then Saturn retrograde and Uranus Direct just after, making a sticky wicket of the general election. The college meets the first Monday after the second Wed in December. Making it Dec 13, 2004.Saturn trians Dean's Sun and Venus conjuncts it. The College Sun is conjunct Pluto and is moveing toward Deans Mars for a conjunction. Uranus is trian Dean's S. Node sextile is N node. Then on the 2005 Inaguration, The Inagural Pllto is conjunct Dean Mars in 8th having to do with money owed by the US and all of the big money issues. Mars is also in the 8th on inaguration and Dean's Pluto trians I. Mars. Deans Moon also conjuncts the Inaguration Moon. Do recheck all these figures as frankly, I am haveing a really dumb day. I think it's over - Saddam will be the political tool Bush needed to claim the elections and will be his poster boy for re-election. You know no lawyer will be allowed to "defend" him, no legitimate trial will ever take place,Rove will write the script to put Bush back in the White House in '04 and Fox and CNN and all the liberal news media will drum this one to death and insure Bush the election. Posted by: Siobhan on December 14, 2003 05:01 PMJean - Thanks for the 9 AM time for the Convnetion and the significance of the 12/13 date. This gives me something to work with. Posted by: Nancy on December 14, 2003 05:02 PMTh convention chart has Dean's Moon (and Kerry's Mars, for what it is worth) conjunct the MC. Go back and look at your own full moons on the nodal lines, and you'll see a very 'change' oriented experience. Given Pluto is on the south node conjunct Bush, and Uranus, which is natally conjunct Bush's north node is prominant in the MH, we are likely looking at a very different Bush following this eclipse... Looks more like at least a couple of days. My interpretation is that he was captured on Thursday or Friday, but they didn't want it to hit the weak Friday news circuit. By announcing it Sunday morning, they made sure it (a) took that talk shows by surprise, (b) dominated the TV news on a day most Americans are home, and (c) will be on the front page of every newspaper on Monday, just in time for watercooler talk. If he was captured a few days ago, this is yet another example of Bush administration lies to politicize the war." Doesn't it strike anyone else as strange that he put up no resistance at all, and "spoke politely and cooperated" with US forces? This kind of behavior is not native to him, and it's not in his chart, either. Roxanne - I agree that the aspects between the natal planets are always key to understanding a transit. But if you look at Dean's Venus, it is natally semisquare to Saturn, and the Moon is natally square to Saturn. Thus, both emeotional indicators suggest a sensitivity to Saturn. It is good that the transit only goes for a week or so. But it is significant that it is during the convention. Something will not be right for him. Moreoever, the coming Saturn semisquare to his Moon in September and the following winter will also be felt, due precisely to the natal aspects. Regarding Saturn and Nancy's concern it will negatively impact Dean. I grew up in abject poverty with a mentally ill mother incapable of loving her children. Not surprisingly I have natal Saturn in the 2d house square Venus in the 4th. Jane Posted by: on December 15, 2003 03:34 PMThat's a wonderful story Jane. I admire and congratulate you for the beauty you have accomplished in your life, and I thank you for sharing this example. Inspiring. Posted by: Pat on December 15, 2003 03:50 PMJane - I quite agree with you about Saturn. It is the great teacher and often gives us extra resources of strength during times of turmoil. But during its transits there are often difficult things going on or uncomfortable feelings, especially the Saturn/Moon or Saturn/Venus aspects when triggering hard natal aspects between these planets. My point with Dean is simply to question what could be going on at the Convnetion to make this one of those times for him if, indeed, he is the nominee. The Saturn square to his Venus implies that this will not be the usual convention where the candidate is adored and there is lots of hope, etc., if Dean is the nominee. There will be some contention or difficulty for him. He may handle it well and grow from it and have the inner resources to deal with it, but it is still an uncomfortable aspect emotionally that, to me, is a bit of a disconnect from what we would expect of a convention. If he had no natal aspect between the two planets, I would not pay this transit much attention since it is only one crossing and fairly brief. But he has a very tight semisquare between Saturn and Venus, as well as a square between Saturn and the Moon. And the transit is exactly during and after the Convention. I can't ignore it or just say he has grown enough to handle it. There is something there - either he isn't the nominee or he is, but he is having major dificulties within the party at the time or with a very effective Rove attack of major proportions. Posted by: Nancy on December 15, 2003 04:01 PMDean was elected gov. on 11/6/1990. I think what you are seeing is that the moderate democrate leaders do not want him to be nominated. Gepharts Pluto is conjunct the opening chart but departing and be very wide orb by the time of elections. You also have Dean's Saturn being opposite convention chart Uranus, showing that pull between the old and new or status quo and change. He is making a speech today to try to bridge this gap. Posted by: Jean on December 15, 2003 05:13 PMnancy! thanks for dealing with all us devil advocates re your saturn analysis!!! i think you are absolutely right..but i think the oppression won't come from anything that is now unseen. it is merely what life at that time is going to be like as the nominee (which dean will be), vs. the disgusting bush admin..simple! do you have any idea how deep the ignorance runs in this country (and i don't just mean the south), in regards to the foreign policy for example? there are people who think sadam should be killed for 9/11!!!! that's what any nominee is up against, that kind of ignorance that bush co has fed...ignorance is the ultimate example of oppression, and that's what is the worst aspect of saturn right? oppression..it's best is 'learning' sometimes the hard way right? dean however obviously right he is in his policies and clarity (compared to bush, and lieberman, that horror) still has a lot of frustrating work ahead of him..work work work saturn saturn saturn..and he has to work at people to not only learn but to love (venus) him....the dems at the convention, while rallying, also represent the repug masses BECAUSE they realize their 'man' must win them (all) over. so the question in regards to the election shouldn't be the work, we all know this, it's the win..win is pluto..now, this may sound completely, uh, organic, but as george is america's sun/son (yuk), where is our midheaven and what is dean's solar? scorpio/pluto, they must win, and they do. Posted by: Roxanne on December 15, 2003 09:04 PMIt all fits into place. Bush can't win on this one. If he doesn't catch Sadam, he looks bad. If he does, the potential for disappointment abounds. When the violence continues (how could Saddam direct things from a 'spider hole' w/no communication), its another disappointment. People will continue to ask, was this guy worth $150 billion(and counting). The fit I'm referring to is the Bush Saturn return this summer. Unfinished business based on a distorted personality pattern over the past thirty years comes back to haunt and disable him. Posted by: Morgana on December 19, 2003 08:05 PMCNN reported yesterday on a court ruling that said Bush overstepped his authority by authorizing the detention of an American Citizen, caught on american soil, and holding him uncharged and without access to an attorney for 2 years. A constitutional scholar interviewed said, although it seemed like a small news story, this was actually a huge fundamental constitutional issue. He went on to add some republicans are now backing away from supporting the new patriot act. Another discussion on DU regarding Bush's SN conjuncting Pluto has begun. He got an mri done: Libya has given full reign to the US to inspect their country with no restrictions. Bush live on CNN at about 5:30pm EST. Posted by: Pat on December 19, 2003 10:43 PMI should mention, that this is a country filled with sweet light crude. Posted by: Pat on December 19, 2003 10:51 PMPerhaps Saturn-Capricorn-knees is sending another painful warning to bushie to bend those knees in humility before a Power that is much greater than its own absurd self, viz. ;O) Posted by: JoannaOregon on December 20, 2003 02:00 AMok, I saw somewhere? that Bush's "knee" problem was really cancer. ? Sorry, that's all I can report. (Maybe another reason why he is so pale and weird in speeches these days?) Posted by: Peg on December 20, 2003 03:21 AMdisclaimer to above: I LOVE conspiracy theories. Posted by: Peg on December 20, 2003 04:13 AMInteresting that in holistic medicine circles, Louise Hay in particular, the knees represent pride and the ego - too proud to bend, stuck in the ego. A sign of rigidity, inability to be flexible. Posted by: Jeanie on December 20, 2003 04:18 AMPeg, very interesting that you heard Bush has cancer. As soon as I read that he was having an MRI for his knee I just thought "No way, it's something far more serious" Don't know what & you can be sure these people (?) won't come out with the truth. Veeeeeery interesting. Posted by: on December 20, 2003 07:48 AMBush is a runner. They all end up with knee problems, and the MRI shows whether they need arthoscopic surgery. Even though Bush is a cancer on the nation, I doubt he has cancer. In astrology Capricorn rules the knees, and the whole idea of "stiff-kneed" has always implied an inability to bend and be flexible in life. Louise Hays' views seem to coincide with the astrological and old metaphor as well. Bush, with his Pluto/Mercury in Leo conjunct Ascendant, is very inflexible and unyielding. Once he sinks his teeth into wanting something or into an idea, hell will freeze over before he changes it. It is one of his worst traits, though they portray it as a strength. Posted by: Nancy on December 20, 2003 06:39 PMspin maesteros of this shrub administration under the misleadership of the bushy are at it again; case in point the suddent change of attitude in Libya and bush is patting himself in the I just found the following quote from an article on the Urania site about 9/11 (WTC, Allende & Bush Sr's NWO). Quite interesting. "Pluto is now at 19 Sagittarius square the 9-11 Sun and activating the solar eclipse of 10 June, the moon of the GWB inauguration, GWB's Uranus, Iraq's Moon and sesquaring Israel's MC. Unfortunately, it also activates John Ashcroft's (9 May 1942 in Chicago) MA/SA so while there is a lot to learn, there will be a lot that is surpressed." Please share your reactions. Posted by: mike on December 21, 2003 01:39 AMI realize this is an astrology site, but so often other divination methods tie in. Just for curiousity I looked up the numerological personal year numbers and interpretations for Bush & Dean for 2005, the 1st year of the next presidential term. Jeanie, that thrills my heart. Have you taken a look at the other Presidential candidates as well? Posted by: Pat on December 21, 2003 04:51 AMInteresting discussion about knees. I have witnesses that when a person makes psycological progress, their physical appearence and physical problems improve. But even more important is the physical effects that having to stop running has to do on the psychi. When running at the pace that he did, it realeases brain chemicals that give you a runners high. A replacement, so to speak, of his drug and alcohol addiction. I think he stopped running a few months ago and he probably is feeling the effects and taking it out on those close to him. This makes it even harder to make intelligent decisions without the emotions getting in the way.In his case even probably even more anger. I have long seen that he is probably psycotic. I have been waiting for it to come out in a public way and the knee problem may drive him to be more psycotic or to have an acoholic bing. Posted by: Jean on December 21, 2003 02:17 PMthe faked capture story is coming out!!! Hussein Was Held by Kurds Before U.S. Capture, AFP Reports Dec. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Saddam Hussein was captured by U.S. troops only after being held prisoner by Kurdish forces, who had had drugged and abandoned him, Agence France-Presse reported, citing a Sunday Express newspaper report. The Kurdish Patriotic Front, which fought alongside U.S. forces during the Iraq war, held Hussien until it negotiated for more political advantage in the Middle East, AFP said, citing the paper, which quoted an unidentified Iraqi intelligence officer. Hussein, who had been in hiding since April, was captured a week ago about 9 miles south of his hometown of Tikrit in northern Iraq, Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez, the top U.S. military commander in Iraq, said at a press conference then. (Agence France-Presse 12-21) Also:LONDON, : Saddam Hussein was captured by US troops only after he had been taken prisoner by Kurdish forces, drugged and abandoned ready for American soldiers to recover him, a British Sunday newspaper said. Saddam came into the hands of the Kurdish Patriotic Front after being betrayed to the group by a member of the al-Jabour tribe, whose daughter had been raped by Saddam's son Uday, leading to a blood feud, reported the Sunday Express, which quoted an unnamed senior British military intelligence officer. The newspaper said the full story of events leading up to the ousted Iraqi president's capture on December 13 near his hometown of Tikrit in northern Iraq, "exposes the version peddled by American spin doctors as incomplete". A former Iraqi intelligence officer, whom the Express did not name, told the paper that Saddam was held prisoner by a leader of the Kurdish Patriotic Front, which fought alongside US forces during the Iraq war, until he negotiated a deal. The deal apparently involved the group gaining political advantage in the region. An unnamed Western intelligence source in the Middle East told the Express: "Saddam was not captured as a result of any American or British intelligence. We knew that someone would eventually take their revenge, it was just a matter of time." Peg @ December 20, 2003 03:21 AM "Bush's "knee" problem .... (Maybe another reason why he is so pale and weird in speeches these days?) " Colin Powell in November admitted in a Washington Post interview that he and everyone in his "circle" use Ambien. A prescription drug to help with sleeping that has Many side effects including a tendency to feel that all is right with the world, also coordination suffers ( Falling off a Segway? ) and taking a double dose is Not recommended ( Pretzel incident anyone? )....... It may be too late for this thread ( I just found this site courtesy of a link on Daily Kos ) but as an amateur even I have questions about Dean's birth time. That chart had nothing in the ninth house, which given his travels and ninth house activity I would have thought Something would have appeared there. Instead I am wondering if this isn't a bit like the old fashioned game of "Telephone" where one person repeats what they thought they heard. Is it possible that Dean was born at 7:21 AM?
