President Bush Goes to London By Isabelle Ghaneh
The old nursery rhyme ‘pussy cat pussy cat where have you been, I’ve been to London to look at the Queen, pussy cat pussy cat what did you there, I frightened a little mouse under her chair’ rang in my head when I read the news stories about President Bush’s impending visit to Tony Blair and Queen Elizabeth next week.
According to news reports, many Londoners are up in arms about the President’s visit and plan to protest his policies, especially the war in Iraq. On November 20, 2003 a protest group plans to topple a statue of Bush in Trafalgar Square. British security is planning to cordon off the protestors, much as they did in a 1999 visit of the Chinese premier to London. Needless to say the security preparations are not going over well with anyone, not Bush’s security people, Scotland Yard, or the Mayor of London, who is incensed that large parts of London may be blocked off to keep Bush away from the sight of the protestors
A noon chart for the date in question shows a few interesting astrological aspects. The first is a Mars and Jupiter opposition, exact in degree. Mars is at 15 degrees of Pisces and Jupiter is at 15 degrees of Virgo. Mars in Pisces has a tendency to internalize anger and aggression, not allowing it full expression. It diffuses it in a sense. Mars in Pisces can be channeled into creative outlets, allowing an individual with that aspect to explore the issue of discordant feelings by painting, writing poetry, going to a film, or meditation.. But for the unaware individual it can be an aspect that lets emotions simmer and boil, much as a teapot on a stove would. Jupiter is the planet of expansion. It is the beneficial cornucopia of the planets. Placed in Virgo, the Virgoan ideal of service to others can reach great heights. It can also become exaggerated. With Mars and Jupiter opposite each other (and an opposition aspect means two energies are not in harmony with each other), Mars in Pisces is sitting on its emotions, which are watery and perhaps unfocused. Jupiter in Virgo is exploding with the desire to help others. This may reach a peak during the demonstrations planned for this day, with the protestors perhaps believing they need to take a stand and show the world and Bush how they feel about the situation in Iraq, no matter the cost.
A T-Square is also in action, with Pluto at 18 degrees of Sagittarius squaring by three degrees Mars and Jupiter. That is an explosive aspect, since Pluto is the planet in charge of atomic energy. Do I think there will be an explosion this day, an actual bomb? I hope not, for everyone’s sake. Do I think there will be an emotional bomb going off? Yes, I do, not just in England at this time but in the world. In everyday life, there will be a lot of emotional tensions, at work, at home and inside ourselves. This is what happens when energy is at cross purposes to itself. The teapot has to get lifted off the stove, or it will explode. With a demonstration going on, all that inner turmoil can find itself turning outward into bottle throwing, etc. That is why with this aspect it is best to try to use the energy creatively and constructively. Sit down with your boss or domestic partner and discuss your issues, rather than exploding at them or yelling at them.
One last item. In the chart (Placidus) I cast for noon in London, 1 degree of Sagittarius is on the Midheaven, the tenth house cusp. The tenth house is concerned with not only our career and life path, but also how other people view us. It is concerned with our status in the world around us. I took note of the fact that on Sunday, November 23, there will be a solar eclipse in just that degree of 1 Sagittarius. An eclipse on an important angle in a chart demonstrates the trend of change in that area. Symbolically when something is eclipsed it can be said to be dimming its light. I think in this case Bush’s visit to London will not be the success he had hoped.
It is said that 'You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time'. For George Bush, who refuses to watch or read news reports, and relies on his advisors to keep him informed as to what is going on in the world around him, this must be a watershed event. The London based newspapers are full of stories asking 'who invited this man to come to London' and polls show a majority of British subjects don't want him to come. No matter how tightly he ties his blinders on, some light is starting to peep through. I wonder if he likes what little he sees.

My natal chart is all lit up Nov. 20 and I have Mars & Saturn conjunct in Pisces, and Jupiter where Pluto is transiting now. So have been musing over this time period. Bush wants the protesters bottled up, but bottling up seems like a really bad idea--like bolting down the lid of that simmering tea kettle. This is going to be interesting. Barbara

Don't worry about being embarrassed for America with Bush in London. The English are smart enough to deliniate between Bush and his stupidity and the American people and their sense of being trapped by this man. Those I know over there are well-aware (perhaps more so than some Americans) of how Bush weasled his way into office with a 5-4 vote. Bush will only embarrass himself and his Administration.

A massive attack on the U.S would be the ultimate failure of the Bush Regime. He will have failed in securing our homeland, again. That much loss of life in this country would stir such anger I fear what we would do.

Roxanne, in answer to your questions, I am not familiar enough with the history of the United Kingdon, England in particular, to know the date for that country's chart, as I know the date for my own country, the United States, of July 4th. I have seen some different dates bandied about for the UK birthdate as a country chart, but I don't know which would be the most relevant and reliable.
As to a signature of murder in a chart, that's a toughie, since so many aspects and considerations can be involved, so I personally hesitate to even look for death in a chart. For example, Jupiter can play a big part in the passing of an individual in their chart, and Jupiter is considered a beneficial planet, showing that sometimes passing over to the next realm is a good thing to have occured for someone.
In the case of Bush, I can tell you that he will be experiencing his monthly Lunar Return the night of the 20th, when his Moon returns to its natal placement of 16 degrees of Libra. That means the signatures of this days aspects, most especially the Mars/Jupiter/Pluto T-Square, will be carried along with him for the next month to come.

In a follow up about Bush's Lunar Return, which occurs at 11:40 pm London time on November 20th, it is interesting to see that Jupiter is in his first house, exagerating his own sense of self importance, and opposite Mars in the 7th house of open enemies. I take that to mean he will have increasing concerns about his own safety, as many people, over the course of this month, and of all nationalities, continue to die in Iraq. The 10th house cusp is at 26 degrees of Taurus, and conjunct the fixed star Caput Algol, the most malefic and violent star in the cosmos. Since the 10th house is how others view us, and our standing in the world, I think Bush may be seen to be the cause of much destruction by many people. With the Lunar Return Moon in the 2nd house, his main concern, besides himself, will be his resources, and marshalling enough money for his campaign in 2004.
I was thinking that Nov.12 is a deathly political date in Spain and Basque Country. Both fascists leaders J.A. Primo de Rivera and F. Franco died in such a date, but also two Basque radical leaders were assesinated in that day. Is Bush travelling to or from Spain that day?
The English are outraged by the new American standards of democracy. They are actually freer than we are now. If it were here, there would be chainlink fences set up blocks away, and the "media" wouldn't cover it.

Re death--I think an elderly person ready to go and dying peacefully would have totally different aspects than a person still fully engaged in the world taken out violently before he/she is ready. My (limited) observation of the former is that Venus is usually prominent.
Barbara, I believe you are right. In the case of a natural or peaceful death, or where death releases one from pain, and suffering, Venus is prominent. On the other hand, I think Uranus and Mars will be the planets most likely to preside over a sudden and/or violent death.

I noticed on the itinerary printed in the Guardian that he is to meet Charles Kennedy - he is a member of one of the opposition parties, hence does not have very much real power, but he has consistently opposed the war. Bush is also supposed to be meeting some of the families of British soldiers killed in Iraq and one relative intends to give him a dressing down- but now that she has told the media, I have to wonder if this meeting will really take place. I agree with LM that a PR disaster would be the best outcome of Bush's trip--and it looks like Bush is doing all he can to bring that about. To get to the point, Bush is only a front man who is in over his head and pretending he is doing the job--his fear--same as anyone's in that position--is that he will be exposed in public. Maybe humiliation will be his wound in England.
Did anyone see the History Channel's documentary pieces last night on the Kennedy assassination? Pretty heavy stuff. Recent eye popping disclosures from various people including Oswald's mistress, Johnson's mistress, & Johnson's former lawyer saying Johnson knew of the plan. Doctors and others confirming cover up of evidence. CIA & FBI involvement at the highest levels. Complex, convoluted events including Johnson's shady dealings with big Texas Oil money that were about to become public leading to his disgrace, and because Kennedy was ready to pull out of Vietnam, which didn't suit the people who stood to make money from escalting the war. Eisenhower warned of the military industrial complex which is what we've got now. Scary stuff.
I shudder to think what the consequences would be if Bush were assasinated. I hope that public humiliation is what happens, and that he surely deserves.
I am just an amateur, merely dabbling in astrology, but I took a look at Bush's chart relocated to London. Am I right that all you do is change the latitude and longitude, leave the time and everything else unchanged, and then you have a relocation chart? If this is so, what I get is Bush's Sun highest in the chart in the 10th, a very wide conjunction to the MC. With T. Saturn sitting there, this perhaps does look like possible public humiliation--his Sun moving from the hidden 12th to the public 10th.
But it does look like the real danger for him might be next week when T. Mars squares his Uranus/N.Node while TPluto and Mercury stand opposed.
I keep thinking about the JFK assasination as the 40th anniversary approaches. I found this very disturbing link on Planet Waves pasted below. It's actually an old "conspiracy theory" but considering everything we now know--the possible complicity in at least allowing 9/11 to happen, the stolen election, iran/contra, the october surprise (which got Reagan elected), Watergate... I can no longer dismiss this possibility. The author alledges that Bush Sr. then working for the CIA recruiting Cuban exiles, may have had something to do with JFK's assasination. He claims that both Bush and Nixon (Bay of Pigs was his baby) were both in Dallas that day, and yet both claimed they couldn't remember where they were that day. I don't think there is anyone in America who was old enough to remember who doesn't remember exactly where they were that day.
That assasination, certainly in retrospect, surely has all the signature of an assasination, but with Neptune transiting the MC in JFK's chart, its no wonder we will likely never know what really happened.

If it's wrong I'll repost. The site's author is a former FBI guy and some things he posted seemed far-fetched at the time, but later proved to be true. He agrees that Bush is an expendable front-man. Did you see the clip of David Frost's interview with Bush? The smirk was pronounced. Bush looked like someone who knows he is just winging it--and is exhilarated by his own audacity. Guess that's the Mars/Jupiter influence expressing itself.

It strikes me that for all the talk about a possible assasination attempt on the president, that the security is so ramped up for Bush at this time. Isn't that an interesting coincidence? It also might serve to diffuse the potential energy. Like sometimes, the energy in your chart happens in the immediate surroundings. Maybe it's symbolic...
Well I dread and fear an assassination or attempt, as well. Not only would it leave Darth Cheney in power *openly* (as open as he gets, anyway), but the government would crack down on freedom even more. What we're having now is nothing compared to what some want to do. It would be 9/11 all over again.

I'd like to ask the British poster---how were Clinton's visits to the UK? I know he met actual citizens and shook hands. Is he very popular there? Why isn't he popular here? (My own whine, you don't need to answer that.) I'd add that it seems Rethugs are proud of protests against Bush, ironically, because they love to claim that everyone who protests him, here or abroad, is just anti-American or Communist. It only hardens their cold dead little hearts, and makes them feel vaguely martyred and self-righteous. But I don't care---protest away!

Just a heads-up: (and, YES, I'm being nit-pickey here, but bear with me) be careful when you brand ANY political group with having "cold dead little hearts". It's patently unfair and certainly unnecessary. I happen to have some Republicans who are friends and are just as appalled at Bush's mendacity and smirk as we Democrats (or Independents) seem to be, but are still proudly Republican for one reason or another. And I feel I have to speak out when some of my friends have their "hearts" branded in such a way and with such flippancy. Perhaps it might be better and more accurate next time to write "It only hardens those hard-core repressive Republican's dead little hearts" or something along those lines.

Tricia, I think the Brits as well as most of Europe were puzzled/bemused/appalled at the way Clinton was treated for admittedly inappropriate--but private and consensual--behavior for all of that But the best comment I read, and one that summed it all up, was the headline in an Australian newspaper during the (apt phrase) Clinton witch hunt: "THANK GOD THEY GOT THE PILGRIMS AND WE GOT THE CONVICTS!"
My understanding is that Clinton is well-liked in England, and especially in Ireland.
Clinton is treated like a ROCK STAR in Europe. Crowds lining up to shake his hand, cheering him on, him standing in the throng red-faced, apple-cheeked and charismatic. And I suspect there are some Republicans who have a difficult time dealing with the fact that no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't destroy the man. They just opted to destroy the Peace and Financial Prosperity we "endured" during his 8 years in Office.

Tricia, I wasn't so much of a news junkie in the past as I am now, but Clinton's visits were very well received. The Lewinsky affair - if it had happened over here the tabloids would have had a field day, one or two papers would be hypocritical and have some fake moral outrage about it but I think there would be a good deal of humour. He was incredibly charismatic, and I think there was the impression that his approach to foreign policy was much more engaged (such as his interest in the N.Ireland peace process), right from the start, whereas Bush seemed isolationist before Sept. 11. After that time of course there was great sympathy, the invasion of Afghanistan was accepted by people in general, but Iraq seemed like a step too far, destabilising the world further, and people felt like they were being lied to over here with lots of spurious reasons which lacked any proof.
Getting away from Bush for a second - I looked at another astrologer's website, (Steve Judd) last night, and he was saying about gold prices suddenly rising, and he felt that when gold rose sharply it meant something was about to happen. There were two car bomb attacks on British interests in Instanbul, Turkey today, one was the embassy, one was a British/international bank HSBC. And it has affected international stock markets. That could be something to watch in future.
In response to Isabel's post of Nov 16. There is a choice of three charts you could use for the UK - you can look at them as different incarnations if you like. I've rescheduled my work this week to stay out of the centre of London while the whole abysmal security circus is going on. The general opinion is that Bush is here for a photo opportunity - something to show the folks back home...

Jonathan, my parents are Republican, some of my best friends, yes, are Republican, I was merely talking about the neo-con, Fox News, Ann Coulter/Rush Limbaugh etc. *rotten* kind, oh and of course the Bush Regime. They're the loudest ones, the cruel ones, and the ones in power. I'm well aware that Republicans are people, too---even though some of them don't seem to be aware we are!---but I have alot of anger and disgust for their conservative media organs and the lies. These are the cold dead little hearts crowd. Not the growing number who are waking up to the terrible legacy of this administration, and are unafraid to say so. Not the ones who want dialogue and fairness and don't want to see an end to the political opposition. I mean the nasty, unapologetic, neo-imperialist, fundamentalist goons we so often see representing that once-legitimate party. Moderates are nice, but where are they? They're not fighting this crowd enough, they've let the Tom DeLays and Dick Cheneys and Pat Robertsons take over their party. When I say "Repug", etc., that's who I mean. Unless they change this behavior, I'll continue to feel that way about them.
Clinton is a Leo with Libra rising, isn't he? Diplomacy comes naturally to him. Both Bush and Gore have Leo rising.
Been thinkin' bout that Leo assessment I made: Leo rising seems to be always striving to receive adulation, bragging is a component of this, as is a look- at- me attitude. Leo suns KNOW it is our due, and refuse to see anything less than what we expect to happen. Over confidence is our biggest downfall, I think, and humility the hardest lesson.

Blogging IS time consuming. I spend about 4 hours a day on Lost Remote, from content to maintenance to development. Add that to my full-time TV job and sleep is an oddity.
