Neptune Rules

There was a great little movie out a while back, called The Quiet American, based on a book by Graham Greene. It was about the ultimate destruction of everyone concerned in a small country in the far east. It was about the CIA’s involvement and their duplicitous lies, the CIA’s and the American governments backing of a disreputable candidate against the peoples’ of that country wishes, and the CIA’s and the American governments complete and utter ignorance of what was actually going on in that far eastern country leading to the deaths of many many innocent people, on both sides. It took place in 1955 and it was about Vietnam. Sound familiar?

I have read more and more comparisons to Vietnam with Iraq over the past several weeks, with both Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd, respected New York Times columnists, making direct and telling comparisons to the situation we find ourselves in in Iraq and the situation in Vietnam back then. Remember Vietnam started in the 50s and continued until the 70s. That is a historical fact.

Both Rich and Dowd have used direct quotes from that era to compare to the insanity going on now in Iraq. Rich and Dowd are both using the illogical 1984 doublespeak of the administration back then to correlate with the illogical 1984 doublespeak of the administration now. Also the thought police are getting involved as they always do when the lies being told by the people in power are so outrageous and so ludicrous that the mass population would have to be on a zombie inducing form of drug to believe it. Catch 22 comes to mind in addition to Orwell’s 1984.

We destroyed the village to save it, we see the enemy and he is us, forbiddance of the news media to show the body bags being lifted off airplanes back in the states, general halftrack, the bright shining lie, form letters sent out to newspapers written by the administration as allegedly written by soldiers told to sign their names, McNamara’s band, Rumsfield’s Memo, the leaking of a CIA operative’s name by the administration she was pledged to serve, the list goes on and on. Which one is from Vietnam and which one applies to Iraq? Pick and choose, the choice is yours.

Astrologically speaking Neptune and Mercury are where one looks to see Alice in Wonderland logic at this proportion. In the CIA’s birth chart Neptune and Mercury are exactly conjunct at 9 degrees of Libra. That says it all in my opinion. The total and utter eradication of the truth is just one part of the story and not even the whole part. It is the complete and utter misplacement of the truth and the taking of lies as the truth. It is truly an upside down mad hatter tea party truth, along with George Orwell’s the proletariats can think freely since the proletariats never think, and Joseph Heller’s Catch 22.

I’m sorry to say it doesn’t look good for the inauguration chart of 2005; Neptune is the most elevated planet in the chart at 14 degrees of Aquarius. No matter who gets in (and it may be Bush or someone from his administration), Neptune rules that administration and that chart. In the chart for the United States, using the Sagittarius rising which I subscribe to, Neptune is also the most elevated planet in the chart albeit not in the 10th house. The most elevated planet in the chart is the one that resonates throughout the chart. Neptune rising so high in America’s chart shows our love of Hollywood fantasy and the mythmaking we ascribe to ourselves, i.e. we tamed the wild west, not we committed genocide, everywhere we go we do good, not we destroyed both our young men and women and Vietnam, etc. I am not knocking America by any means please don’t believe that. I know how many people came here as immigrants wanting to make good lives for themselves and escaping oppressive countries of their own. I am simply stating that Americans have a tendency to see themselves through Neptunian fog and mist as it were to use a rose colored glasses view of themselves. We do no wrong in that scenario.

Astrologically then where do we go from here? With Neptune conjuncting both the Sun and the 10th house cusp in the inauguration chart for 2001 the lies and deceit that characterize this administration won’t go away ever. Not ever. As Neptune in Aquarius gets farther along in its trek it will move away from the 10th house and the Sun. It doesn’t appear to be gone from the new inauguration chart set up for 2005. Neptune will not conjunct the Sun that day and that is something.

My take on all this may be little different than other astrologers . I think we the people need to be the ones to open our eyes to see the truth and not count on those in power to do it. On November 8th there’s going to be a major lunar eclipse in Taurus at 16 degrees. That includes a Grand Sextile and a Star of David. A Star of David is an inverted Grand Trine. All the signs involved are in receptive feminine water and earth signs. Taurus is honesty, it’s cutting through all the bullshit. It’s seeing clearly what is going on around us. It’s getting spiritually energized and grounded. I think it can mean a grassroots uprising. People refusing to go along with the system, refusing to be non thinking robots, refusing to accept lies as truth and truth as lies. It means talking out, writing letters to newspapers, maybe even running for office ourselves on a local basis or maybe even higher than that. It means refusing to be bathed in Neptune’s beautiful hazy glow of nothingness and vapor like Bush and cronies are so content to do.

Welcome Isabelle - so excited to read another article by a new contributor and hope to read many more! I agree it must be "the people" that make the changes. So many of us have been writing and working for change, only to see so many that haven't the foggiest (Neptune!) idea of the corruption in this government. This government's spin is believed by so many.

I hope the average American will begin to open their eyes at this November 8th Harmonic Concordance. I just heard a helicopter carrying 20-odd military personnel was shot down in Iraq. These men were going for R&R. Not sure if they're dead or wounded, the breaking news just said "casualties." We'll learn more today. It may be the death of soldiers in Iraq that begin to open some eyes. It does have "Vietnam" written all over it.

My hope is that the American people will rise up and see that the medias, the administration don't represent the interest of the common person. My fear, the American people are so doped up on the "Bachelorette," The Peterson Case, their bling-blings, and all their other distractions, they'll fail to act.

Thanks Isabelle, what's interesting with all of the equations of Vietnam, is that astrologically, the cycle of Saturn places the correlation with the very end of our time in that war. It's as if the Iraq episode is a speeded up hyper-vietnam experience for us again. I also think of the first action in this war, which occurred with the Sun at 29' Pisces, signalling the end of the cycle-- one last karmic twist. I too think this upcoming eclipse is going to be a breaking out time.

Thank you so much for all the kind words given to me and my efforts. I heartily agree that many people are escaping into the fantasy version of life that the media and Hollywood are feeding us right now. But that may change. Also I agree that Iraq is a "speeded up version of Vietnam", very much so. And certainly, the more horrible deaths that sadly are occuring each day make it harder and harder for this administration to back-peddle. That should really get people thinking. As in Vietnam, it was only when the people themselves got involved that the issues were really brought to light, and many people, in and out of the New Age thought process, are getting on that wavelength now. I hope the eclipse really opens up a lot of people's "inner eyes".

With Neptune the highest planet and infusing the chart with it's (sometimes) deceptive energy, it sounds to me like the Bushies will be stealing another election via electronic voting machines.

I read somewhere he may be impeached, though, in a second term. Any thoughts on that?

Excellent article, Isabelle. Many thanks. I am concerned about the neptune exact square to the AScendant in the next Inaugural. We will see the impact of this aspect next year for the Bushies, since Neptune will be square their Ascendant. Given their propensity to lies and illusion, I think we can expect more of the same.

For the next administration, if Democratic, I fear it suggest an administration in some disarray, with it being hard to project a coherent image and focus in the world. I am happy the Neptune does not color the Sun, but the Ascendant is also very important. Perhaps there will be a tendency to be all things to all people and unclear about agenda. At least Neptune won't return to its place in the exact square again, so no big transits to worry about. And the Asc is exactly trine to Mercury and Venus, its ruler, so this could be a big help and may keep them likeable in spite of confusion.

Jonathan, I think it more likely that Bush would be forced to resign for reasons that may or may not be exposed to the public, since I think the current administration's grip on power will not be let go that easily, and if Bush were ill, for example, I could see him stepping down. In any case, I agree wiht Nancy, Neptune will play a big factor in the next election, sad to say.
