General Wesley Clark
Like meat thrown to starving dogs, the newly-declared candidacy of Wesley Clark has aroused and greatly energized the Democratic faithful. For those not already smitten with Howard Dean, Clark’s candidacy offers hope of a new and potent weapon that can be deployed to crush the Incompetent Emperor. Already, only a week after his announcement, there are polls that show a Clark candidacy rushing to the top of the Democratic ladder and smiting the increasingly vulnerable Bush.
Struggling to find his footing in the treacherous terrain of the political landscape, Clark has already stumbled over a key issue: how he would have dealt with the war resolution passed by Congress last fall. The tentative and recalibrated positions he has espoused have called into question whether or not he is ready to plunge into the deep end of the political pool. His domestic policy positions are somewhat murky as well. It seems Clark will need a Rhodes Scholar-level crash course over the next few weeks just to catch up. But for the moment, his star is rising despite recent mishaps, and the people hunger to hear more from this new beacon of light in a dark world.
Unfortunately, we have no birth time for General Clark (d.o.b.12/23/44), which is always a huge handicap in attempting predictions. Nonetheless, there are several planetary indications that are worthy of discussion. It is generally some form of very strong Venus energy that renders the candidate appealing and attractive to the popular imagination. Currently, Clark’s progressed Venus is square to his progressed Node from May 2003 through June 2004. This, in turn, will meld into the progression of Venus to his natal Node from May 2004 through July 2005. This aspect is currently triggered by the transit of Pluto (quincunx), from June 8 through October 7, 2003. The highly charged Venusian nature of this period has brought with it a burgeoning support for a Clark candidacy which has grown to such an extent that he has now declared himself in the race. We can expect his popularity to be quite strong during these early weeks through October 7. Other pockets of intensified popularity will come when Jupiter triggers this aspect by sextile from 11/27 through 12/6/03 and 1/17 through 2/2/04 and when Uranus triggers it by a semisquare from 2/1 through 2/18/04. The latter times are during the Democratic primaries, which suggest that Clark will make a reasonably good showing during this early primary period.
Continuing with the Venus theme, we find this progressed Venus/Node aspect is again activated at the end of the Democratic Convention for a few days by Jupiter sextile to natal Node (7/28 through 8/1/04), and by a Uranus semisquare for an extended period from September through December 2004, the height of the campaign season. Finally, Jupiter will square this progression from early January through mid February 2005. Thus, we see a pattern emerging of an especially strong appeal and popularity for Clark during the most critical times: currently through October 7, 2003; the early primaries through mid-February; the Democratic convention; the height of the campaign, September through December 2004; and the month of the Inauguration and shortly thereafter.
There are three other astrological configurations coming in General Clark’s chart that further help to understand the coming 18 months. As of December, transiting Pluto will move to conjunct Clark’s Mars. This will bring him into a yearlong period of very focused, powerful energy that will surely be used to hone his campaign and make bold attacks against Bush. This transit is especially strong during all of December 2003 and from late May through October 2004, during which time we will see a far more aggressive and strong side of Clark than we are witnessing now under an intensified Venus.
The one aspect that suggests some difficulties for Clark comes from the station of Saturn in early 2004 that will sit on Clark’s Saturn and square his Neptune. We can expect this Saturn influence to impact Clark from mid-January through mid-April 2004. I think it will force the General to stay very grounded in his statements. He will be challenged on anything that is the least bit unrealistic and in any area where he doesn’t have any real expertise. It is also possible that Clark will be forced to reevaluate some of his ambitions and goals and put them in a more realistic and modest perspective. Perhaps he will shift toward becoming the Vice Presidential candidate at this point. Because this period is also a time when I expect the US to be militarily very active (transiting Pluto station opposite US Mars), it may also take a great deal of finesse to oppose Bush and at the same time support America in its endeavors. Clark may be walking a very fine line around then.
The final aspect of significance in Clark’s chart worth discussing is the transit of Neptune across his Venus from March through June 2004 and again during all of January 2005. This is an aspect that suggests an almost transcendent feeling of love for all humanity. It elevates the feeling life to great heights. This could suggest that Clark will be enjoying great popularity at that time and his first real experience of swarming and adoring political crowds that he truly wants to serve. It is significant that it is felt all during January 2005 at the time of the Inauguration.
Without a birth time, there is still a great deal of important information missing from this picture. I have found very little to suggest that Clark will be engaged in the Herculean task of the presidency come 2005. But this could easily change with the relevant birth data. I also am continuing to keep my eye on John Kerry, whose astrological picture shows great promise, despite his current lagging in the polls. It may be that these two will join forces on the 2004 ticket: either Clark/Kerry or Kerry/Clark. I would anticipate great success either way.

With Clark being a Capricorn and his ruler, Saturn, should he not handle Saturn better or more adept than let's say, a Cancer individual?

The puppet masters, from both sides of the isle, seem to be scared to death of Dean. Gives me the idea that he probably cannot be bought or blackmailed.
There big thing that they have been trying to stop Dean winning the primaries is that he can't beat Bush.
Now along comes Clark, a guy who could not even decide if he where republican or democrate till he say which way the wind was blowing.
So he jumps in the race and almost immediately we see polls, you never know if polls are for real or just used for some political purpose, and these polls say he can beat Bush.
So your vote is really going to be for a man who is owned or one who is not owned.
One thing going for Dean is that his Sun is trian transiting Saturn exactly when the electorial college votes in 2004. And it is within orb both during election and inaguration of 2005. Saturn is the planet of presidents. The fact that it is trian instead of square does concern me a bit.
Did any of you excellent astrologers perform an analysis of Bush's speech today? I do know that fall didn't officially begin until after 5:00 p.m. EST so the sun was still in Virgo and not in Libra which is kinda like how the war started in the last degree of Pisces. Does that mean that Bush's hope for help in Iraq from the UN or others in the international community is VOC (doomed) since I think I can assume with some certainty that the Sun was in or close to the 29th degree in Virgo this morning. Can I also assume that Bush's speech would have been better recieved if he had waited until tommorow to ask the UN to have been partners in the rebuilding of Iraq during the early degrees of Libra (the sign of partnership)? It looks as if Junior and his minions continue to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory!

Janet - Clark actually has a tough time with Saturn. It opposes his Sun and squares his Neptune very exactly, making a t- square. It is as if he gets carried away with things (Neptune) in a sort of out of touch way, and then he faces the flack for it (Saturn). This could be a very difficult transit, though it doesn't touch a personal planet, so that part makes it less impactful. But the Saturn Neptune combo is notoriously lurching between being out in the clouds and then bummed by reality. The Saturn station really sits right on the exact square to his Neptune, so it could be a dispiriting time. On the other hand, the Neptune transit to Venus may lift him up. I am assuming that Venus is not the chart or the MC ruler. In those cases, the Neptune transit could spell trouble, even though Neptune and Venus can be a nice combo in the right circumstances. A birth time would really help on this because we would know the house rulerships involved.
Patrick - I think that the Sun was already in Libra for the speech. It would have been even more disasterous (if that were possible) if it had been in the 29th degree of Virgo. But it was within a very few minutes of quincunx Mars, and the aggression showed. He couldn't be humble or accomodating. He had to be pushing once again. I think no matter what he does right now, unless it is really humble and conciliatory, he will fail.
His Sun and the US Sun are under very strong Saturn and Chiron influences. This calls for real conciliation, not window dressing. Despite rhetoric, he has offered the UN no real power shift. He still thinks he can run everything. And his unrelenting Pluto Ascendant, his inability to be even a little flexible is just outrageous. He is still harping on the WMD and the terrorist connection to Saddam, even though it has all been refuted, including by his own mouth last week.

Nancy, I agree with most of what you say, espcially with regards to making predictions without an accurate birth-time, especially given the fact that the Midheaven and its ruler are significators for the career, and for holding public office and positions of power.
I also agree with your Kerry/Clark, Clark/Kerry ticket, with one proviso - if Hillary decides to enter the race, then there will be a change in the line up. I'm still holding out hope.
For now, I see the nomination being between Clark and Kerry, with Dean losing some of his lustre as we approach the primaries.
I respect all of your opinions, but to me, Kerry has no passion. They used to say that Al Gore was wooden . . . I never really saw that . . . but Kerry is wooden to me. I think that Dean has passion and I really believe that at this point he is unstoppable. Obviously, I could be wrong. Kerry does not intrigue me. He bores me. Sorry.
However, if Kerry ends up with the nod, he will get my vote. He would be far better than another term of the Bushites. I'm personally hoping for a Dean/Clark ticket. Pure heaven.

I just wonder if many Americans saw the news over the weekend that Bush is again trying to bribe Turkey with up to $8.5B in loan guaranties, and I thought that Bush was supposedly asking for donations for this mess in Iraq.
I didn't have much hope for this speech containing any type of apology when I read Monday that Bush had already told Fox (Faux) news that he was not going to even hint that invading Iraq was a mistake. But I think that the full financial impact of Bush's Iraq misadventure is finally hitting people on Main Street.
I was watching CSPAN last night and I was happy to see some House Democrats talk about the unmet needs of the Americans( like decreasing funding for mental health care for vets) while we plan to spend billions upon billions fulfilling Bush and the neocons' Iraqi wet dream.
I could not stomach that speech for more than a minute. When I heard the words out of the Tush's mouth that 'they are no friend' I wanted to vomit. Tush so obviously hates himself and that hate splatters all over the world. That's the impact I got in a flash before I shut the TV. The news this morning about him was negative and the media sharks are circling in for blood. However, does that zombied out Tush have any??

No astro for me to offer (not that I'd know what I was talkin' about anyway! newbie here), but thought you might appreciate hearing that Bush doesn't read newspapers or watch news on tv. He learns everything he needs to know, according to him, from all of the "objective people" that surround him.
I think being insulated from reality and too damn stubborn and arrogant to admit he's wrong and accept bipartisan help will be his twin Achille's Heels in 2004.

I was particularly fond of the moment when the Twig called Sadam a gangster. It was the one moment in his speech when I knew he was familiar with the qualifications. He had several moments of mirroring. That may have been the only time in his speech when he didn't need notes or the ever famous ear piece.
Mars certainly came out in his cocky expression and the endless talk about sex slavery. I'm actually surprised no one threw eggs.

There is going to be a debate tomorrow with all 10 Democratic candidates. It will be Wesley Clark's first round. I didn't get all the details, but I think it will be televised, so please check the TV listings in your area. I urge everyone to tune in. I learned a lot about the candidates from the last televised debate(the one with the bi-lingual moderators).
Laurie, I don't know if you watched that debate I refer to above, but Kerry didn't come across as wooden at all; he was very much alive. If by passionate, you mean getting all worked up - that he was not, but he took the best jabs at Bush, and he certainly thinks on his feet. Dean was a bit too aggressive and impatient for me. Moseley Braun fielded her questions very well, and handled herself like a professional. The 2 worst debaters (imo) were Gephardt, and Graham. The latter was sort of slow and not too clear, and Gephardt who found a catch phrase which drew loud applause, kept repeating it over and over, ad nauseum and kept barreling along, ignoring the moderator when she told him that he had gone over his time limit.
To be sure some of that $87 billion is going to be siphoned off to bribe other countries, particularly the Muslim ones, to send their soldiers to Iraq. I also saw on the news tonight, an accounting of how the money was going to be used. Rumsfeld said that they needed to build lots of prisons, also a state of the art communications system. However, one member of Congress was questioning why all the items on the list were costing twice as much to build in Iraq, than they cost to build in the good ole US of A. Red flag!

I have to admit I was not very impressed with Clark last night. I thought he seemed kind of nervous, not as comfortable as the other candidates. I think he will lose some ground after October 7 when Pluto stops triggering that Venus Node progression. He will get qute aggressive in December when Pluto comes to his Mars. That should be interesting.
Dean is a little too quick to react emotionally to my mind. I didn't feel Kerry attacked him; he was answeering the question he was asked about how his policies differed from Dean's regarding the tax cuts. It was all Dean could do to hold his anger in check at one point. The camera zeroed in on his face. The slightest facial response gets magnified on TV, as Gore learned too late.
I was most impressed with Kerry who seems to have the best grasp on the issues to my mind. I still tihnk he will be picking up some nergy in his campaign soon.

Right now I like Clark, but if his star fades, Kerry is also a nice choice. Kerry has that serious, stately, Saturnian look.
Yes, Saturn does not seem to be too friendly with Clark, that restriction is what had held him back for the past few months, and now its going to retreat and go back over the return again. Politically, Kerry's got no traction whatsoever. I think with Pluto being on his Sun, it's not a situation where someone gains momentum and energy-- its a situation where someone either dies or is reborn, and it's the former that's been the case so far. There are many staffers who have already left Kerry to join Clark, signaling the death in process.
What about Kuchinich? He has a Mars in Cap. Good for getting things done. ( I know I've lived with one, married one & given birth to one in 64 years!)
His ideas for the country are the "cleanest" total new direction. ie: his Dept. of Peace! We need sweeping change! Kerry. Clark, etc. are tainted by association with the Wash Gang for too many years!
I attended a lecture by 2 heroic young college students, last night. They are part of the Beehive Design Collective, in Machias ME. They are taking their wonderfully designed. black & white 5' poster depicting ( allegorically, animals not humans)

The FTAA allows corporate entities to sue governmennts....ie: Gerber sued Niccuaragua ( under copyright laws loophole ....that baby on their label...........) basically because the formula wasn't selling in that country because the water was bad & making babies sick! It is a financiall weakening of countries, to force them into the regulatory set-up that fills the pockets of the corporations. And incidently ruins the food worldwide, because they favor Genetically Modified food! Bush is trying to push that on the European Union!!!!!
GM foods have been expanded in this country ( read the labels) for the last 7 or 8 years. This is why I haven't enjoyed the taste of food in that time period! ( If I grow it & fix it at home it tastes delicious!)
Did you know that the prisons have been privatized; & prisoners are being used as slave labor? Think about it! Did you know that the Congress was handed the responsibility for Indian Affairs way back in 1805, & in 1889, they decided to pass on the responsibility, to privatization, relaxing regulations so that Reservations could run Casinos! It's a mess.......causing internacine squabbling so that a lot of tribal members, have been left out, ( more money for the others!) & AREN'T ELIGIBLE FOR WELFARE!

I've agreed with a lot of what Dean and Kuchinich are saying. Both are clearly decent, intelligent men, who sincerely want to help this country. Sadly, I don't think either man would win in the current atmosphere. (I'm talking about the Presidential Election, not the Democratic Primary.) Maybe that will change. I like Clark, but it's too soon to know whether or not he can stay the course. I hope he can!
I've just finished reading Daniel Ellsberg's memoir "Secrets" and "Abuse of Power" by Stanley Kutler. The first book is Mr. Ellsberg's account of his decision to release the top secret Pentagon Papers documenting US involvement in Vietnam. The second book contains transcripts of the Nixon Oval Office Tapes. Both books are chilling.
There is one particularly disturbing exchange in which Nixon asks Kissinger how many civilians would drown as a result of bombing dikes in the Hanoi-Haiphong area. Kissinger replies "about two hundred thousand." Nixon then announces he'd rather use a nuclear bomb. Kissinger says he thinks that would be "too much." Nixon calmly asks if nuclear bombs "bother" him. Finally, Nixon explodes, screaming at Kissinger that he just wanted him to "think big." Two hundred thousand casualties apparently wasn't "BIG" to Nixon. The point of all this? It's scary how history repeats itself when no one's looking.
Nancy (correctly) called Bush the Piped Piper. He's delusional, our nation simply can't be held hostage in "fantasy land" with Bush & Co. four more years. We had two delusional Presidents in the 1960s. One, Johnson, was a Democrat. The other, Nixon, a Republican. There's a wall in DC with the names of all the young American boys who died as a result of their delusions. The millions of dead Vietnamese have no memorial.
My brother and I have never agreed on anything politically, until now. He's an Army Officer. A West Point Graduate. He's also against the war which they've asked him to risk his life fighting. Idealism, vision, charisma, all those things are wonderful. Yet they won't bring men and women like my brother home, or save the lives of Iraqi citizens, unless those espousing this idealism win! I'm ashamed to admit, despite my reservations, I'd vote for almost any of the Democratic candidates just to get Bush out of office. The cost of losing is just too high. I don't want to see civilian death tolls rise and I never want to visit a wall with my brother's name engraved on it.
I apologize for taking up so much space today. I'm only an amateur astrologist. I regret not being able to add anything substantive to the astrological debate about this race. I've certainly enjoyed and learned from the observations others have written here.
Has anyone done a rectified chart for Gen Clark using significant life events such as the death of his father at age 4, and possibly locating his Mars in the Gauqueline sector for military figures? (9th house)
Just discovered this site - so glad to have found you. Transiting Pluto is conjunct the Bush Vertex (23 Sag) at the inauguration. Also - transiting Jupiter is on his Jupiter, which scares me. My preference would be Clark/Graham or Clark/Edwards. With that smile, as well as his negotiating ability, I'd bet that Clark either has a Libra ascendant or Venus in the first. I'd greatly appreciate birth data on the serious candidates - Dean, Kerry, Gephardt, Lieberman. Also, does anyone have birth data on Cheney (SP? - he scares me so much I'm not sure how to spell his name.) Donna
