The People's Moon
Chart
The most fertile moon of the season, and it's void of course, which means anything 'initiated' during this time is sewn in chaos and confusion and doomed to failure. This void of course condition is going to be in effect through Tuesday, July 1, 9:13 AM EDT. So as the NeoCon salvo's started sailing in Washington today, the Moon was already doing her thing, here is the first round of lunacy:
Frist Endorses Idea of Gay Marriage Ban
(Reuters) - The Senate majority leader said Sunday he supported a proposed constitutional amendment to ban homosexual marriage in the United States. Sen. Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said the Supreme Court's decision last week on gay sex threatens to make the American home a place where criminality is condoned. The court on Thursday threw out a Texas law that prohibited acts of sodomy between homosexuals in a private home, saying that such a prohibition violates the defendants' privacy rights under the Constitution.
Now this bit of lunacy:
According to Abbas, immediately thereafter Bush
said: "God told me to strike at al Qaida and I
struck them, and then he instructed me to
strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am
determined to solve the problem in the Middle
East. If you help me I will act, and if not,
the elections will come and I will have to
focus on them."
How insane is that! Bush has morphed into Moses! Or is He Jesus Christ? Last time I heard, acting to kill innocent men, women, and children for imaginary weapons of mass destruction, didn't give you a direct line to any God that I know of ? Do you folks? Good grief, they fry you for lesser offenses in the great state of Texas, flip that switch!
This isn't just the American Nightmare. I'll be damn'd if our cousins the Brit's aren't in the same boat with Blair joining the Bush Brigade. And they are taking these countries where because he 'hears' God instructing him to strike? And Tony trots along, as well as Howard, Ansar the Spaniard, and the Coallition of the UnWitting, oh, I stand corrected, the Willing?! Ah, more then just our nightmare then, it's the world's nightmare. Thank you Supreme Court you certainly made one hell of a Judgement!
Our spineless Congress is doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and murder is being committed in our names, the American press is deaf, dumb, blind, broken, dazed from 9/11 obviously, why else has the media given this whacko a pass? Where is the SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE!!!! Hasn't our Constitution got a loop hole for nut cases in office? Waiting how many months for an election before how many People must die in this lunacy and before the People can stop it through votes! Stopping this maddness by what? Another stolen election with the Supreme Court determining who is the best leader for this Nation ? There are fox's in the hen House on Pennsylvania Avenue! The man said God instructed him to do these things, he is killing thousands of people because God told him to do so. What ?
America, are you awake yet? No? You will be. The Moon conjuncted the US natal Jupiter and Venus, click, another trigger.
Saturn's just gona keep putting the squeeze on the Sun, it's already tightening it's grip on the US natal Venus and Jupiter in Cancer, the Ocean of Emotion. With transiting Mercury forming a conjunction with transiting Saturn, we'll hear all about the Squeeze, who knows, maybe the Press will be doing the squeezing. Transiting Uranus and Mars just so happens to be cruising the 3rd House of Communications, hand in hand, in Pisces, home of the Prince of Peace. There is a lot of Water action going on, kind of a roiling, boiling, bubbling cauldron kind of thing, only exponentially, oceanic size as Mars marches ever closer to it's encounter with Gaia. I suspect we haven't seen anything yet. If you have a voice use it, how many must die because God told him to do it? How many?

Morgana this is great and I do think there must be a loop hole for "nut cases," but it looks like no one is looking for it, no one is even saying it except all of us. But this guy is a nut case and "we the people" are tied into his insanity. Bush Uranus at 19 Gemini, US Mars at 21 Gemini and squaring Neptune. We don't know if we are crazy or what.
Morgana,
Bravo!
thanks again for shining light on the lunatic parade known as the Bush Neo-Con Administration.
I think we are in for even more craziness.
Guys like Bill Frist, R-Tenn are only the tip of a huge melting polar cap...
We better all keep our eyes on West Africa and Liberia - neglected stepchild of the US which reached independence on July 26th 1847 - Independence Chart has Jupiter at 6 Cancer 44 right on this last New Moon. Liberian Mars at 24 Aries and Pluto at 26 Aries massive aspects to US Sun and Pluto. Bush the prophet will have our troops in West Africa and Iran before we can blink.
There's no doubt that wargeezer bushie n' company are literally as crazy as bed-bugs that's smelled a warm body, but rep fist (another super-tiresome southern porno-puritan) is doing knee-jerk blathering to make the christianoids feel better. Getting a Constitutional admendment is an enormously difficult & time-consuming process. And on THIS issue at least, the US supreme court vote was a clear majority at 6/3... not even 5/4.
Wonderful, fabulous rant Morgana! I'm telling it from the rooftops, in the valleys, over the wires. You know how the neo-conservatives have organized those little daisy chains and write letters, make phone calls and just plain make noise? We can learn from that, only do it without the hate. There is power in indignation born of love for all. Righteous indignation, lets just do it.
Good article Morgana, but I'm wondering why most people don't realize that * is seriously mentally disturbed. Only psychos, like * and Son of Sam, say they "hear God" telling them to kill people.
I used to have a lot of respect for Americans, but it seems like the majority don't even think, and their leaders are worse.
The country has turned into a quiet dictatorship, and there is little concern or protest (from the majority).
Well, I guess we get what we deserve.
Dear Morgana,
I am truly not sure what it is like to be born in your father's shadow...surely it is an impossible task - crippling. I am with Pat - with all the repression around - uncontrollable urges of righteous indignation born of love for all will surely pop out - I think it is already happening and I think it will happen among us common folk until we are strong enough to act seperately from our disconnected leaders. Your quote from Bush is so telling - did he really say that? Forgive me but some aspect in my astrological forecast I had done said I need to stay away from dysfunctional types - drug addicts and abusers...so I do not listen to Bush - I find his speaking very disturbing - and apparently no one is helping him really - even here he alludes to a cry for help - '...if you will help me...'- I mean really who is he talking to - to help him when he often acts without care for public opinion? - I really think such steering of his words even if written by Rove is very revealing of a self absorbed psychopath. I am certain that those who do the most horrific types of things are in the worst kind of pain and truly unable to sort things out - in fact all of the preemptive stuff is really making me look at myself and where I need to get clear and strong...I am sure the wave of self preservation will rise and that policies of repression repression repression not solving our problems will be Saturn's lesson...with a great sense of shame and regret attached - I hope because we are as a country so detached from the rest of the world...and its' suffering. I think Saturn represents an opportunity to learn a lesson though - yes? Meaning Americans could choose not to learn their lesson until the next time when the circumstances will be more painful...am I thinking of the right planet on this one? Thank you for keeping this discussion going.

Abbas is the new Prime Minister to the Palestinians.
M
makes me wonder whether the bush mind controllers/handlers are working o/t and furiously signalling the puppet in NWO "tongues" - "god told me...." - the brazen behavior of this coven is truly stunning-or more appropo stun-gunning.
and all this astro-water is ramping up the turbulance--I for one, am glad we are (finally) going into the "raging waters" segment of the cabal's slide into hell (misery loves company). Water is necessary to stir the cauldron and dredge up the muck so we can all see exactly what they've been serving up to america and the world-so make tracks after all of them with your bad-self Saturn! One glimmer of hope: it is painfully clear that there is no court astrologer in the WH, yammer on about the NWO's power, but this group is just like the hitler crowd, his astrologer (apparently) believed Saturn in the tenth is only about professional highs and no lows - the rest is history. (Ronald Reagan should thank his stars Nancy had the good sense to consult with their astrologer on a regular basis-I have "personal" info about that fact)
Thanks Morgana - should have checked the Abbas link before...read the article and now realize the quote was in context of the Palestinian/Israeli people...not us Americans of course ...

Dear Morgana and fellow spirits,
I pray this VOC moon does its trick. Here in Austin, Texas, the far right-wing lieutenants for Tom Delay, dissatisfied with the lawful democratic process, are attempting to undo the lawful, democratic redistricting decision in Texas, which was determined by court order after the recent census because the Republicans refused to cooperate the first time. This redistricting is supposed to take place once every ten years following the census, but Tom Delay and his henchmen, Governor Rick Perry (GWB's former Lieutenant Governor) and Tom Craddick (speaker of the Texas House), are attempting to undo legal processes and grab every morsel of power by every trick available. Rick Perry has called a special legislative session forcing the legislature to work overtime, despite a 10 Billion Dollar state budget deficit, to undo democracy. You may recall that the Democrats in the Texas House ("Killer D's") walked out to avoid the effort during the regular session, which of course led to the gross misuse and abuse of homeland security for political purposes to track them down. Most every sane source (discounting rabid right-wing propaganda sites and media, which are now mainstream and all-too-common) has decried Tom Delay's efforts and has called the proposed map ridiculous or unfair. Molly Ivins has perhaps the best summary of this:
http://www.workingforchange.com/article.cfm?ItemID=15002
I realize this is an astrology site, but this is very relevant to the astrological events. I also believe a VOC moon can't save us on its own - that we the people have to take advantage of "favorable" astrological circumstances to allow our will be done. Sinister forces are at work against us, and we need to use every advantage to defend ourselves.
I am posting an email from Lloyd Doggett, my Congressional Representative for Austin, who is the best Congressman one could ever ask for. This effort by Tom Delay and the Rebublicans is as much about eliminating Congressman Doggett as it is a raw attempt to usurp democracy.
Please read the email. I ask that you contact your Congressional reps and senators by email, fax, or phone to show support for Congressman Doggett, demand that the Texas Governor and Legislature drop the issue, and help defend our democracy under siege. Please forward this request to others who might support us in Texas and prevent the U.S. House of Representatives from becoming even more lopsided, far-right-radical and unrepresentative than it already has become.
Thank you.
"Dear James:
Knowing of your request to be kept informed regarding the on- going efforts of Tom DeLay to gerrymander congressional districts in Texas, I offer this update. The special session on redistricting called by Governor Perry began today, and already they are up to their old tricks, calling a committee meeting this afternoon without formally posting it or announcing it to the public.
Tomorrow, July 1st at 2pm, the Texas House will hold a hearing on the new map they plan to introduce. The hearing, which is open to the public, is scheduled in Austin in the Texas Capitol Extension, room E2.036. I have no doubt that this new map will attempt to further divide Travis County's representation in Congress and disenfranchise voters across the state.
In addition to attending tomorrow's hearing you can take the following actions to help defeat redistricting.
1) If you are represented by State Senator Jeff Wentworth or State Reps. Keel, Jack Stick or Todd Baxter, you may express your opposition to any new redistricting plan and let them know you support the current map. Representatives phone, fax, and email addresses are available at: http://www.lrl.state.tx.us/citizenResources/ContactLeg.html.
2) You may contact relatives or friends outside Travis County and ask them to call their representatives and senators with the same message. They can look up their representatives by visiting this website: http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/fyi/fyi.htm.
Also, you can attend the debate that will occur on the Texas House and Senate floor on this matter, which may occur as soon as next week. As always, keep me advised of any other federal matters on which I may be of assistance.

Consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill, the eyes of all people upon us.
-- Gov. John Winthrop
In perhaps America's best-known sermon, Gov. John Winthrop compared his Massachusetts Bay colony to the biblical New Jerusalem -- the perfect place that would one day replace the imperfect world. In his vision, the land that would become America would be a beacon to the world by its example. Today, however, we Americans must ask whether we want our country to evolve into that city on a hill -- or into a new Rome.
Even before the recent war in Iraq, I found myself facing that question. At October's meeting of Asia-Pacific leaders in Mexico, several hundred business people and the presidents and prime ministers of some of the world's major powers were seated in a great hall awaiting dinner. Mexicans tend to eat late, and by 10 p.m., the salad had not yet been served. Many of the older leaders were obviously suffering from jet lag.
President Bush, however, had the advantage of relative youth and the short flight from his Texas ranch. Nevertheless, as the pre-dinner entertainment dragged on, the famously early-to-bed U.S. leader walked out. The host, Mexican President Vicente Fox, had been forewarned, but the businessmen had not. One leaned over to ask me: ``Who does Bush think he is? The emperor?''

JC, California is facing it's own NeoCon challenge by NeoCon crook Issa who is 'unhappy' that the Republican's lost to Davis, Davis has inherited Pete Wilson's corrupted energy policy, and Bush and Co. bankrupted the state, with their energy manipulation. The small Republican businessman doesn't get it, saps. And they're putting up Arnold the Terminator as one of the Repub governor candidates, oh please terminated is more like it, right, can he speak english yet? The front page Condi Rice for Governor was also rather scary!
Any other states feeling the Bush screws besides us? Yes, I'll certainly email my congresswoman, who knows maybe they can get a spine together.
M
JC, I'll do everything I can.
Hi, Morgana,
Bush is under the spell of collective delusion, the flames of which are perpetually fanned by his advisors, who have Machiavellian rather than religious motives, and by fellow religious fundamentalist, Tony Blair. Blair and Bush have a composite chart merge complete with a mystic rectangle incorporating, among other things, A Neptune-Jupiter (psychic inflation/religious inflation/lies and exaggeration) connection exacerbated by a knee jerk reaction from Blair's Aquarius Moon. The USA has an Aquarian Moon also and it will take one last super-hit from retrograde Uranus this year before Uranus goes back to Pisces for a 7 year ride.
Here's what I get out of that: Bush is governing (I use the term advisedly) through what we'd call "the laws of revelation (not the book in the Bible), as opposed to the rule of law or civil law. The earliest form of law was revelatory: the 10 commandments, for example, whereby you organize society by defining the state as "church." You don't have any civil law because no law is "higher" or "better" than God's law. Hence, Bush can justify anything he does or wants to do by saying simply that he was directed by God to do it. Who can refute it? How do we know what God told him to do or not to do? Hence, later on, he can make a case for insanity if ever prosecuted for anything because his lawyer will say, "Well, look at this. Mr. Bush said he heard voices; heard the voice of God. That clearly falls under the rubric of insanity."
Clever boy!
Tony Blair is also a believer in revelatory law and believes, with Bush, that the USA has been given the mission to free the world from tyranny and change the world into one big happy capitalistic orb whirling through space. Never mind that such utopian visions are actually more socialist than even Lenin's communism or Mussolini's fascism where the state rules supreme and all else is subordinated to it. This time it's the whole world under one world government.
That's why I said on Starcats that something is wrong here. If Bush, for example, achieves peace in the middle east, by all accounts in revelatory law that would make him the AntiChrist. Hal Lindsey was interpreting such things 25 to 30 years ago!
The New Moon isn't really void when examined in connection with the USA's chart. The New Moon of June 29th kicks of the USA's Venus-Jupiter conjunction soon to be hit by transiting Saturn. The sobering realization that limitless expansion (Venus-Jupiter) in the economic sector is simply another brand of bullshit pumping out Karl Rove's machine. We are on the verge of deflation, and I suspect that by July 4th and 5th, Bush and the USA's Solar Returns, some pretty ugly reality will show itself in the peoples' wallets.
Also, Moon-Saturn is about the comfort (Moon) and security of our senior citizens (Saturn). That prescription drug plan inserted into Medicare will do nothing for the majority of our seniors. It will make HMO's and insurance companies very happy now that many seniors will have to pay more money for an additional premium to opt into to any kind of prescription drug plan. Something like $35.00 a month. Add that by 12 months of the year times millions forced to do it. That's a huge chunk of change.
Love, Claudia
Doesn't 'hearing god' sound like psychosis? Anyway, has anyone here heard about the gatherings at Bohemian Grove?
Go to www.jonronson.com and check out his articles and book called 'Them'.
BG is a many acred place in the forest of California where our leaders and dignitaries, royalty and movie stars gather for some burnings to an owl statue. No fooling , look at the site. Everytime our fearful leader GWB says 'Amen' or 'God' I get queasy (from the lack of sincerity). Corny and unbelievable. I ususally believe in things I have experienced for myself but BG has no women allowed except for the girlies they hire for servicing the men only crowd.
bhakti - photos of Bohemian Grove shown on Infowars.com - click on photos and go to the bottom of the page marked Bohemian Grove. Amazing stuff on this site. Siobhan
Thanks Siobhan,
I've been to that site before. It reminds me of those old Tarzan movies.
So corny. Anyway, if these dudes are the ultimate fratboys then they're 'good ol' days are numbered. Shakti bitch slap into reality is acomin' around the mountain when She comes. It's the nature of Nature. Concealing/revealing. The saddest part is the loss of human life and the ecological life of the Earth. The days of the bottomless wells are done, fully cooked and over. I feel hope today! Saturn/Pluto is over.
BTW, my computer went off service on that site. Wonder if they are monitored.

Bush 'indicted' over war crimes
A group of Japanese lawyers unveiled documents
Monday "indicting" U.S.
President George W. Bush for war crimes allegedly
committed against the
Afghan people since the United States-led coalition
began its
antiterrorism campaign in Afghanistan in October
2001.
"This is an act that breaks international rules,

(honoring) human rights, that have been formed over
so many years," said
Koken Tsuchiya, former president of the Japan
Federation of Bar
Associations and head of the 11-member prosecutors'
team in the
tribunal. "We decided this case has sufficient
reason to be brought to
court."
A civic tribunal will be held in Tokyo, with the
first hearing scheduled
for July 21.
The charges against Bush, according to the
indictment, include
aggression, attacks against civilians and
nonmilitary facilities and the
torturing and execution of prisoners.
They said the indictment will be handed to the U.S.
Embassy in Tokyo
next week.
The tribunal is being organized by Tokyo Zokei

This action (suspension of military aid) is typical Rumsfeld. For too long we have used money to buy influence and friends at the expense of the people, and it seems to no longer work when higher matters are involved. Retaliating in this manner only confirms other countries' suspicions of our true motives and inflames anti-Americanism all the more.
The excuse by Fleischer "This is a reflection of the United States' priorities to protect the men and women in our military," he said." is typical Bush/Rove - hide behind the troops and the flag. U.S. servicemembers have little to fear - it's the corrupt commander-in-chief and his cadre of core supporters who are afraid. This administration does not want to be held accountable - especially when and where they cannot buy the media or the political system.
Dear Pat, Morgana, and others,
Thank you for your support and comments. Although Gov Davis has been under attack by very bad media coverage for years, it is clear to me that this is a deliberate conspiracy by the Republican party. It is disgraceful that the (Texas) oil companies with approval of the FERC have contrived shortages, manipulated markets, and caused so many people to suffer.
JC, it's my pleasure! I want to do more. I hope and pray Davis survives and let the court cases roll to bring the corporate robbers to their knees.
Morgana: I posted the same link!!! lol. Everyone else: I have spent the last 2 days crying. Other things, too, (hey I'm a mom)but my navy bf has returned, and confirmed what I suspected would happen: these guys are NOT going to be ok after this war. The repercussions are going to be numerous, (Yes, VIETNAM rumsfeld, you asshole)and we will be dealing with them for soooooooo long. Anyone see the latest article on the military testing? I can post if needed/ desired? The military is going to be the catalyst/ instigator of the necessary changes, and it's gonna blow people's minds..............
Peggy yes please post it. We are still dealing with the after affects of Agent Orange, Napalm, along with depleted Uranium today. Congratulations that your boyfriend came home. Be patient and give him time. My son was a Marine in Gulf I.
Morgana
Laurie, and others: I saw that report on the BBC news tonight, concerning the Bush Administration's refusal to recognize the International Criminal Court, and to penalize certain countries that support it. The BBC news anchor was interviewing one of the US military commanders about the decision, which he was defending with the usual BS excuses. Just another example of this Administration's highhandedness, arrogance, and blackmail that it uses to stifle any opposition. The Bush cabal is really no different from Hitler and his band of thugs. They are both mass murderers.
One of the reasons why the BS Administration refuses to acknowledge the International Criminal Court, is because there are charges pending in Brussels against both Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. for Crimes against Humanity connected with the Gulf War, and this latest Iraqi war, respectively.
And the beat goes on. Bush and Rumsfeld are still in denial, and continue to perpetuate lies about the war in Iraq, while refusing to admit that they were wrong about a lot of decisions that they made concerning pre-war and post- war Iraq. That is one major flaw in this BS administration - the inability to admit they are wrong. So, they continue to inflict their brand of "democracy" on the Iraqis, even if it means wiping out half of the Iraqi population in the process.
ok,the newest info re the military:http://www.military.com/NewsContent?file=FL_bio_070103 as I surmised, and have stated, the changes in attitude are going to come from this direction. This does NOT make me happy to be right. I am sooooooooo sad. BF is only one proof what's in store, we are going to hear of so much more, and it's breaking my heart.
I remember reading here ? or Maya Del Mar, of the weird diseases & testing. When was this? Was this a Neptune thing? Sorry, for just now addressing this, but the media is not too woth it timing wise/ politically, and astrology seems to be always right on :) Such a shame in so many ways, that it's not utilized for positve measures.
P.S. again: sorry for typos, misspellings, and incoherency. Please ask for clarification, way too much drinking due to overwhelming sadness.
Peggy, blessings to you and your son.
found what I was talking about concerning the July17th "warnings"....... : "you aint seen nothing yet

Love this site and love that so many of you are speaking out against the wrongdoings of this evil administration. However, I find it difficult to believe in many of the predictions that are made here as so few of them even come close to becoming reality. We were warned that late June (21-25) would have some "sudden and violent upsetting event that causes sorrow and grief in the country". Well, nothing happened and seems the Bush administration rolls on as usual and getting more and more popular every day. Now all this talk about "July 17"..which most likely won't lead to anything either. Don't want to see anything horrid happen to anyone but it would be good to see just one little thing that would lead us to believe that any of these predictions are true! Seems little or no hope for a change in administration as the right gets stronger and stronger by the day and the left is ...well, still out in left field trying to find players! It seems very dismal from here with no signs that anything is gonna change anytime soon. Have not seen one thing predicted come even close to coming true.
To Heartsick and Tired
Watch the changes they are happening. All this talk about July 17th, who knows 'if' anything visible will happen, who knows that after Bush's claim that God instructs him that other folks aren't going to act upon it. That really is indicative of a disturbed mind. Watergate grew agonizingly slowly as the body bag count rose exponentially. Often times the biggest changes are occuring behind closed doors, yet their manifestation will not appear for weeks or months down the line, delayed trip wires.
From the academic corner of our universe this comes from Ira Chernus a Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder who responded to 'God Told Me' quote run in:
http://www.nationinstitute.org/tomdispatch/
Did Bush Say God Told Him To Go To War?
by Ira Chernus
http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0630-04.htm
Your opined that, "We were warned that late June (21-25) would have some "sudden and violent upsetting event that causes sorrow and grief in the country". Well, nothing happened and seems the Bush administration rolls on as usual and getting more and more popular every day."
Yes, the Bush Administration's lock step appearance of everything is fine, we are in control, we all say the same message, with subliminal backgrounds promoting his message, the Stepford Wife's syndrome does make it appear they have us wired. Not. Except that he is slipping in the polls, and only 26% of the country now believe Saddam used weapons of WMD on American Troops.
The most important thing is the People cannot lay down and quit, apathy got us into this situation. As an astrologer I can blow it miss-predict, or hit the prediction miss the date and time. Or we can say nothing, admire the universe's handiwork and leave the People unprepared. With knowledge comes responsibility and accountability, I'd rather tell you what I see.
M
I have read your report and your other reports. I am now reading the comments here as well. I do not agree with Bush or his administration. I do not agree with the war. I am, however, old enough to remember Viet Nam and how my brother, who served there, felt when he came home to being called a baby killer.
Therefore, while I do not support the war, I will not protest it publicly because everytime someone protests this war, it sends the message to the young men and women who are stationed there that they do not matter. They have been paying and still are paying the ultimate sacrifice of all, the shedding of their blood and their lives. While they may not agree (I know this first hand from friends I have stationed there) with the war, they will honor the oath they took when they enlisted. I will not take any action which negates the sacrifice these men and women are making while we sit here safe and sound in our homes and with our families. Support those men and women who are putting them selves in harms way. Show it, speak it, tie yellow ribbons, fly the flag. Show you are proud of them and what they are giving up.
Perhaps, all should be thinking of them before they speak a comment against the war or march in a protest parade. It is not just about each one of us as an individual, it is not just about us as Americans, it is about a global community.
If you wish to protest. Write your congressman, representative, the president, all his cabinet. Vote in each and every election. Enough letters, enough calls, enough e-mails and they will get the message that to be re-elected they need to listen. Become active in your community. Find a candidate that you can back and campain for them, work to get out the vote by phone calls, door to door, stuffing envelopes, man a voter registration booth.
Posting here, in a safe forum, with others of like mind to read what is said is not effective, other than means to vent your frustration. Actions speak much louder than words. Write, phone, e-mail, do something, within the law, but sit and gripe, wring your hands, and do nothing.
Don't like Bush? Then find someone and start now to work for them.

I couldn't disagree with you more concerning protests and the impact on the members of the military. Having served my country for 20 years, I have experienced protests against the U.S. military first-hand in the 80s and 90s in Germany and Korea (much worse than the tame anti-war ones we have experienced in the US). I also remember the 60s and 70s clearly and have watched the documentaries, training films and movies which describe the attitude towards the military during and after the Vietnam war. I have family and friends who went to Vietnam, and some who died from its legacy. I have seen the anger in people's eyes and have felt fear and loneliness. Still, I recognized that I served my country to protect these very freedoms which made America a great nation.
Military members accept sacrifice as part of their profession - they know fully what they signed up to do. The soldiers of today look forward to deployments as an opportunity to do the missions they have been trained for. They are very well-equipped, well-trained - and very well cared for. Their families have extensive support structures and the nation and their communities have given them many gifts. They are also well paid by current U.S. standards. They are not draftees working for less than minimum wage who were given a choice to go to Vietnam or to jail. Moreover, career soldiers generally rotate tough assignments with easy ones, so they can expect a desk job or training opportunity between assignments with maneuver or combat (or support) units. The downtrodden, racially-imbalanced conscript military of the Vietnam era has been replaced by a highly professional, all-volunteer force for quite some time.
As for yellow ribbons or flying the flag, I can tell you that I am sickened by it all. So many buy the obligatory flag at Wal-Mart in order to fit in with the trendiness of pro-war republican hypocrisy - nothing more. It is in many cases hype and marketing to distract and intimidate the people from what is going on in this country. So many treat the flag like a football banner and shred it to pieces on their SUVs, or fly it at night unlit because they are too lazy to take it down (or illuminate it). The $5.oo yellow ribbon means nothing, as long as the owner votes for political candidates and a party which seeks to keep the troops deployed in endless holy wars against the faceless enemy of terrorism. These flag-waivers are rooting for the winning team, nothing more. It is a national reality TV show, and they are cheering for the "good guys."
The people who have protested in the U.S. against the Iraq war aren't spitting on the troops or calling them baby-killers. And unless the U.S. military starts to commit atrocities similar to the crimes in Vietnam, I don't think they have anything to fear. Many of the troops who are deployed may be silently glad, because they are prohibited from exercising their voice and concerns in public. They are duty bound to follow the orders of their Commander in Chief, whether democrat or republican.
The people have every right and obligation to make their voices heard in public. The right to assemble peacefully is explicitly protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution, and it is the only way the people can make their voices heard. Correspondence is fine, but it can be fabricated, destroyed, intercepted, or retaliated against. If the massive public protests of the 60s had not taken place, Vietnam and the Nixon presidency would not have ended. If the people of this country cannot rise up to express their outrage in public - because their voices are not heard or given fair representation in the media or by the government - then my service has been in vain.
anon,
I keep thinking of all these flag wavers right after 911. After getting off the subway train at Fulton st. near the WTC site I saw those flags and ribbons being sold on the street by vendor, after vendor, after vendor. It sickened me to see out-of-towners crowding my city streets buying this tacky crappy stuff. It is off the backs of the victims who's families are not making one penny from it. So forget bowing to a flag or ribbons because the old songs and movies tell you to. Bow to yourself and your own intelligence. If writing and calling is YOUR way, do not down the other who can really express their outrage and anger at being duped and decieved instead of what you see as proper. It's that 'proper' that is illusion. Or the sale of junk off the victim's memories would not be occuring. Americans 'act' too nice and are perpetual vicitims who protect their persecutors.
Dear JC and Bhakti
You have missed the point of my post. Get out and do something, other than post your comments here.
The post was not about flag waiving. It was about taking acion.
Do you do take action other than what is seen here? Do you write your congressman or senator? Do you write the president and his cabinet? Do you write letters to the editor? I do.
That is the action I speak of.

Dear Astroworld sponsors and readers - please forgive me for going off-topic again, but I would like to respond one last time.
Dear Anonymous,
I understood your entire post but chose to reply specifically to the protest point. I agree with your call to action and recognize your well-meant intent. Perhaps you haven't read the numerous posts on this site detailing issues many have become active with. Of course, there is always room to do more, and your advice is well-taken, even if unnecessary.
However, while we seem to agree in spirit on these points, you fail to grasp the importance of public protests against or discussions about the war - and the sharing of ideas and feelings here, on the Internet, in bars, cafes, barracks or dorm rooms. It is the spread of ideas and feelings which do as much to affect opinions and effect voting, especially when the public message fed to us through the media and from the govenrnment is sanitized for political profit. This site, like many others, is open for all to read and post to, even for anonymous posters like you and me. Whether it be an astrology site discussing the charts and aspects of our politicians, or a computer website discussing the loss of privacy or free speech on the Internet, these open discussions are probably more important than the direct, tainted discourse which suffices for our national dialogue. Moreover, the sheer mass of peaceful demonstrations in public or cyberspace can give power and comfort to those dissatisfied with the status quo, create momentum for change, and cause those convinced of their righteousness to reconsider.
Dear Mr/Ms Anonymous,
I think you should re-read your original post to refresh your memory with regards to what you stated, and while I agree with the last couple of paragraphs, I take exception to the rest of your post. I, like many other Americans, wrote to my congressmen, senators, AND the President before and during the Iraq war, in the hope that we could prevail upon them to avert the disastrous effects of conflict, or at least mitigate its effects, once it was embarked on; but why should we stop there? It is our inalienable right and responsibility to stage peaceful demonstrations against policies with which we don't agree. I am sure there were many soldiers, and even more of their parents who were comforted to see public protests against the war, in the hope that it would be averted, or at least once there, they would be brought home quickly.
The other side of the coin is, once you sign up for military service, the understanding is that if called to active duty, you most likely will have to kill and/or be killed - that is what you are trained to do. So, while my heart goes out to all the men and women in our military and their parents who have suffered losses in the war, I am deeply disturbed and saddened by the countless innocent Iraqi civilians who were maimed and killed, who had no choice in deciding their fate. This is why I will not be waving a flag or tying a yellow ribbon. This sentiment was further reinforced by an image I saw recently on television during the "sidewinder" operations being conducted in Iraq by the military, and which has rightfully enraged so many Iraqis. The image was of a group of soldiers storming an Iraqi home during the wee hours of the morning, when most families are sound asleep. When the Iraqi family did not answer the door fast enough,(probably because they were busy trying to drag on some clothes in the midst of this mayhem), one of the soldiers was encouraged by the others to kick the door down, which he did while yelling "open up this f----ing door". Definitely not what Dale Carnegie would recommend in his book "How to Make Friends and Influence People". More like how to intimidate people and make them hate you. Anyway, after the soldiers barged their way in, the scene they were greeted with, was a mother and about five little kids cowering in a corner, with the little boy, about 8 years old in pyjamas timidly holding his hands up in the air while they roughed the father up and ransacked the home. Was that family terrorised? You bet they were. Would you classify those soldiers as terrorists? Your call. But I'm sure this will be the image of America that these children will carry with them for the rest of their lives. I know I wouldn't have been a soldier on that watch. When we die, if you believe in God, whether He is of Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist or Jewish denomination, it will not be enough, when in accounting for our actions, our defence is "I was only obeying orders".
Oops! Apologies to Dale Carnegie. Correction - his book is called "How to Win Friends and Influence People".
I do not disagree that embarking upon and continuing this war is wrong. I do not disagree that the actions of our government officials is wrong, especially those of the president. I do not disagree that peaceful protest is wrong, nor is stating one's views in this or any other forum wrong. All I was pointing out was the effect that it is having upon the men and women who are stationed there. I know of this since I hear from family that I have stationed there that they feel disheartened with hearing about the protests and it does affect their morale.
However, I do disagree that those men and women who are doing their job in Iraq should be looked upon in a negative manner and ostracised. You have passion for the Iraqi citizens and feel compassion for them. Feel that same compassion for those U.S. Soldiers who have been kidnapped and killed, for those killed in unannounced attacks while they slept. Have the same compassion for the young solider, the son of one of my best friends, who at the ripe young age of 20, will lose one if not both of his legs because of a "unannounced" attack upon his barracks at night while he slept. There was no knock or pounding on the door or yelling to open it. Just an attack that killed others and left this young man maimed for life. At least the people you saw on television had the pounding on the door and the yelling. Also, I assume, since I did not see this broadcast, none of them were killed.
Neither side in this war are without blame. What bothers me is the fact that all I have read here is the wrong that our government and military have done to Iraq. What about those who were in power in Iraq? Has anyone indicted Sadam Hussain for the atrocities against humanity he and his follows caused over the period he was in power?
Protest is good. All I ask is that you take the passion each of you exhibit here and send letters to government officials and begin to make a difference.

Anon,
A premptaive strike was NOT a knock on the door. Bombs weighing tons and tons raining down Uranium is not a knock on the door. I am sorry for your friend and hope he recovers his sense of self and his own humanity. He is also God on earth like everything else that exists. We humans forget we can ALL share the pie for a good life on Earth. We forget with non effective, self interested gov'ts.
A neighbor was on my case for not doing something about the firehouse here in Bklyn where alot of men died in 911. I said helping that way did not resonate to me. Glad I followed my gut. The door to the firehouse was painted with a mural. It showed the trades with a big cross on it. I am offended each time I pass by. Where's all the faiths that died that day? USA can be very narrow minded, what caused those trades to go down in the macrocasmic view.
I think that instead of going after all the bullies on earth USA needs to mind it's business and take care of it's own first, then delegate it's power elsewhere and with democracy which is the majority vote of the people.
I have my own way of being an effective anti war protester. After the election of 2000 I don't believe anyone is really listening to the people, the lobbyists yes. On the street is effective. Not my way either. No need to qualify what I do.
Peace.
Dear Whomever hear speaks hear about lack of support for our troops,
Anonymous---do not equate voices of distress hear with a lack of respect for anyone...this sight discusses politics from an astrological perspective - articles written by people who are very aware and concerned about the world and really many of us are writing to our government representatives...and know the silencing of a nation first hand. I believe a loss of morale will be needed to realize how little our leaders care about the soldiers in Iraq who are still dying...There is nothing good about war - allow people to vent here so that we can look past our despair - war does that to everyone in case you have not noticed - those who support it and those who do not - to consider a better world - war did not rid us of Saddam Hussein - and is not the reason the government gave for going to war- and an estimated 5,000-6,000 civilians died for disarmament - America was born out of dissent - It is essential to greater understanding and does not mean we do not honor our troops - Soldiers have a right to dissent too you know and many are asking to come home...but the media will not televise that - it has got to start with low morale...God Bless and have courage...There is nothing more pleasing to our leaders than we be criticizing one another...rather than them.
