It must be in the water in Washington, D.C., bottled insanity.
As a reminder, the Astrological Chart of America represents the people as a collective, what they want and how they feel. Through that chart an astrologer can see what the collective mood of the people might be, whom they might choose as their leaders, and when they might change their mind. Mercury (what’s on our mind) in the US chart is in a stress aspect to GWB Midheaven. The US Mercury understands things differently than Mr. Bush, in spite of some balanced aspects between the country and the man. As our country moves through the years, we change, and that’s called “progressions.” Not only have we progressed our Sun to the Moon (the people) in Aquarius, but our Mercury has progressed to that point as well. Aquarius has humanitarian ideals for the individual and the collective, and we want our leaders to reflect that change. We intend to be heard, we intend to be respected and we intend not to be marginalized, we also intend to give our leaders the benefit of the doubt. Our President and many of our Representatives have not lived with “the people.” Not lived with the teeming masses, and their job seemingly cuts them off from those masses. It is the masses that are on the brink of raising their voices so they may be heard, and our politicians and Wall Street and Corporations have just about used up their “benefits of a doubt.”
What a year, what a month, what a week, and the wheel keeps on spinning. Let me recap the highlights. “The Torch” Torricelli of New Jersey resigned his chance at the Senate (for good reasons, he’s a crook) and the Republicans cried foul. The New Jersey Supreme Court said the state could put in another candidate and that gentleman is leading by 10 points in just one day of being placed on the ballot. This doesn’t look good for Mr. Forrester the Republican candidate but who knows. Mr. Forrester is taking it to the US Supreme Court and that body has developed an odd habit of over turning state election laws and the fight toward a conservative court increases over the next two years.
Down there, way down there, in Florida, Jeb Bush put his foot (size 21 and a half) in his mouth and the whole world heard him explaining a “devious” plan to get around a Florida law, by doing so, he managed to anger the Department of Education. He also gave a homophobic shot at some women involved in the case of a missing child, the women seem to be sisters but Jeb decided they were lesbians. It doesn’t matter if they are or not, it was a slap at gays in Florida, and elsewhere.
Not to be outdone, Mr. Perle of the White House suggested Mr. Schroeder, the Democratically Elected Prime Minister of Germany; step down because he disagreed with our President’s war on Iraq. And our President, himself, humiliated our only solid ally support on Iraq, Tony Blair by vetoing Mr. Blair’s peace talks between Israel and Palestine. Peace talks that our own Secretary of State, Colin Powell, supports.
There are anti-war demonstrations all over the country, growing by the thousands. And a CBS/NYT Poll tells us that two out of every three Americans don’t want this War, we, the people, are more concerned about an economy that has fallen to its worst level in over 10 years. Plus we don’t have firm support from any country in the world, but the troops on the Hill keep insisting we will have War, like it or not. They make these absolute statements four weeks away from Election Day when those same people will be voting them in or out.
Have our leaders succumbed to a mysterious illness causing insanity, and are we just slowly realizing it, or are we a willing enabler to this insanity, spurred on by fear.
The real culprit of this dissembling is of course Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto with a few minor players on the field, rounding out a call to America for a revolution of standing up and being counted. Taking them in order, this weekend we had a New Moon at 13 degrees Libra, squaring the US Sun, GWB’s Sun and the Republican Party’s Sun. Not to mention that this New Moon conjuncts the US Saturn, while transiting Saturn has begun its station just 2 degrees away from the Midheaven, which is the indicator of our leaders in America. This station should give us a good idea of what’s to come when it’s springtime in America. The New Moon in America’s tenth house of reputation points up the serious disrepute our political leaders have fallen, both at home and abroad. A New Moon in Libra is demanding balance in our world standing, the question becomes “can it be provided?” This coming month will give us an open look at our determination to control at all costs, and leading the charge will be our President and the Republican Party, while the people will actually fear this obvious push toward world domination. Saturn rules control through fear, bullying, supremacy, the government, and a determination to succeed at all costs. Our leaders will be affected by this New Moon period right up to the election.
There is a serious disconnect between our politicians and the American public. Uranus is keeping the people moving toward change as it makes its final turn toward the US Moon and progressed Sun, while the Washington Politicians of both parties seem steeped in fear and caution. When Election Day falls and transiting Moon squares the Uranus/Moon/Sun connection, the people will have a few surprises in store for these leaders who would rule. The people (Moon and Mars, ruler of the 4th) will begin the process of voting for “politics as usual.” In the Solar Arc progressed chart of America, no fewer than four planets are in Aquarius, including the Sun, Venus, Mars and Jupiter, at a very deep level of our collective unconscious we want a win/win for all. Neptune, while it has moved off the US Karmic South Node, it is still affecting our President and Vice President, covering them with illusions of grandeur, and most importantly the illusion that this vast country of ours, with its vast diversity can be controlled, compelled, coerced into seeing and doing things the way they determine is best. America will make up her own mind this year as well as 2004. On Election Day, the energy of Mercury will be in a stress aspect to Neptune, creating, once again an election of confusion and deceit, at least the attempt will be made.
Mr. Bush may have one or two successes through October into November, but those successes will be for him alone and will not quell the rising anger the people are beginning to feel over not being heard and we are beginning to place the blame for being shut out directly at his feet and the feet of our congressional representatives. Those who vote for a unilateral position in America will eventually lose that fight, as Americans want, really want, to get along with the other inhabitants on this earth through peace.

What aspects are you reflecting on in making this comment?
Komilla Sutton, in the Vedic analysis of Bush's term (TMA, Aril/May 2001) said that from Oct 26th till April 17th:
"The change to the Venus sub-dasha just before the midterm elections indicats that there will be a surprising reversal of fortune for Bush. Venus is his Atma Karaka and always gives positive results during its period. Also, at the election, Jupiter is in its exaltation in Cancer. Jupiter, the significator of the Republicans, may bring election results that increase the Republican majoirity in Congress."
This came after Sutton called for the August to Oct dasha as "the toughest time for Bush as President... the period around October 2002 will be difficult; this is the time of midterm elections for the Senate and House, and it will apear likely that the GOP will sustain major losses."
Well, It did appear that way in July through mid-Sept, but, as this 'futures' chart shows, sentiment has shifted well before when Sutton thought it would, and is now in flux:

Sutton's extrapolation from Venus & Bush to the GOP potential success is built on the Jupiter in Cancer exaltation; but it would seem to be that it is more personable, as you state, with his likely getting approval for invading Iraq.
We forget that the US Chart is not a chart of our leader, but reflects our attitudes toward that leader. Mr. Bush's chart reflects him and since his "job" is President it would reflect his attitudes toward us. Jupiter (in Western Astrology) will be conj. his Pluto/Venus midpoint resulting in a personal positive feeling for him. However in the US chart Solar Arc Mercury is square natal Uranus, and that all squares Mr. Bush's Mars and the Republican's progressed Sun. Also progressed Uranus is opposing US natal Mercury plus the progressed Descendant in the US chart is conj. US Pluto and opposing Mr. Bush's natal Saturn. US Solar Arc Moon, squares US, GWB, and Republican Party Sun, on election day 2002, transiting Mars Conjuncts that Moon, and squares all those Suns. I think there will be an emotional backlash from the People toward Republicans and Bush, there is an internal anger building within the people, and usually those feelings are projected outward. We haven't captured Bin Laden, the economy is tanking and projections say "someone has to pay."
Mr. Bush is right now operating under Neptune and the illusion of popularity and a belief that "he can pull it off." My only real concern is at the start of Election Day Mercury squares Neptune from the 12th house, some kind of behind the scenes manipulation. This configuration is forming a t-square to GWB's Ascendant and Mercury. Is he lying to himself? The Public? or is he pulling manipulative strings? The Republican Party's Mercury is also involved in that T-Square.
The Republicans will pull out all stops this year and in 2004 as they did in 2000 because their Progressed Jupiter is Conjunct the US Pluto. There has been such a black swirl around the US, involving the Republican Party and subsequently GWB since 1998, in fact it even feels oily, I am not sure we can get an honest election in this country in 2002, there is a better chance in 2004 of coming out of the fog. The Democrats are just confused and it shows, they don't seemingly have a clue as to what's going on, and that shows in their chart. They will be handed suprising wins or surprising losses, but it will be a surprise.
Ms. Sutton is an outstanding Vedic Astrologer, and the Dasha/Bukhti's are can be very accurate in terms of predictive work, however, as with Western Astrology there can be so many variables and there are several Dasha/Bukhti time periods that Vedic Astrologers use, so the time shift could relate to the system used. I have read other Vedic Astrologers that state Mr. Bush is going into a Mercury Dasha soon and that is his worst planet, but I don't think that will be until after this mid-term election.

Could you plot these lines out on an astro-catography chart to figure out where such an event might take place?
So, there are some excellent forecasts that DEMS will take important seats (Oregon, and even TX!), and guess how the house will play?
I just briefly looked at the Astro-Cartography, you wouldn't want to look at the US lines on Election Day, but each individual candidate on that day to see where their lines run. In the year 2000 I looked at the charts of each individual state and compared them to Gore and Bush charts to get my predictions. By doing this I was able to predict which presidential candidate would win each state and I was accurate in all 49 states except Florida, I had Gore winning Florida, I still think I was right, but obviously not.
I forgot to tell you that on the Astro-Cartography chart on Election Day, the Neptune/IC line runs right through the center of the US, through Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois right on down to Texas. The Pluto/Des. line is through the East Coast including DC, and Uranus/MC line runs through, guess where, Florida. I am counting on that meaning "upset." The Mercury/Des line is also through another part of Texas and over the West, with Mercury being in sq to Neptune, I would suggest that either Kirk is shafted, or the Republican's won't know what hit them until it's too late, could go either way. When it's 7:00pm in Washington, DC it will only be 3 pm on the West Coast and by that time the Mars/Des line is running right down that coast, you will see angry voters there or voters taking their anger out on the politicians.A real bright spot for Florida will come at the end of the day when the Moon/Asc line crosses the Uranus/Ic line in Miami, could be an upset for Jeb because the Moon and Uranus are in a Square aspect all day long.
Some type of confusion at the end of the day in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana as Jupiter/MC, Mercury/Asc, Venus/Asc.
converge over those states, that I would think that means those states get what they want. All in all, Election Day is very busy across the US. One thing I find interesting is Saturn/MC goes through Hawaii, I think there is going to be some real sadness and respect for Patsy Mink,but I don't know if her name is still on the ballot.
Has anyone looked at a comparison between George W. Bush's chart and Al Gore's chart on Election Day 2004? If this has already been done, please feel free to offer a link where I can read it. Thanks.
