In mythology there is the story of the Sirens. They live in the deepest part of the ocean and with their beautiful singing lure us on to what seems destruction and death. But we don’t really know that it is actually destruction, and in most religions we speak of death as a new beginning, not an end. The song of the Sirens can also be singing the song of life. And so this September 11, 2002 we will stop, remember, allow grief, and begin again. We begin for our children, for our families, for our friends, for our country, for ourselves- because we must.
The chart of September 11th, 2001 has been dissected over and over this last year, I doubt if I can add too much in the way of new opinions. But perhaps the Solar Return and Draconic chat of 9/11 will shed some light on the future and outcome of that tragic day last year. The ancient astrologers always said that the Draconic Chart showed the true meaning and purpose of an event or a life.
9/11 Draconic Chart
Mercury was conj. The US natal Sun and the US natal Sun was on the Ascendant. This was, as every astrologer said, a message to the heart and soul of America. The Draconic Sun conjuncts the natal Saturn, and when the Sun and Saturn join, Saturn is on your life. Chiron opposed the US Draconic Mercury, and was conjunct the 9/11 Sun the message would be painful, going to the very heart of America bringing to the light the world issues we’ve not acknowledged, and indicative of a need for healing. Now the Solar Return Sun is opposing transiting Pluto. The mood this year will be “someone needs to pay” for this, and the power struggles will be harsh (Pluto is harsh energy) but who will that someone be, it may come as a surprise, and could take years to resolve. The Pisces/Virgo axis in the Draconic Chart indicates a painful sacrifice to save the many leading to enlightenment or the opportunity for enlightenment.
Thousands of people die everyday throughout the world, the fact that these diverse people from over 80 countries chose to leave this earth together, brings the possibility of a world with shared responsibility and peace. Giving all of us the task of learning how to serve and heal each other. History’s record of 9/11 will be one of eventually leading the world into greater unity and changing the face of America. With the 9/11 Mercury being in Libra the need for balance will ultimately be of paramount importance to us all.
9/11 Solar Return
Events do not happen in a vacuum, they always relate not only to the event but the family or country in which they occur. In the case of 9/11, there is much that is not known or understood and it could be years before the truth is known, however astrological indications point to the truth eventually coming out.
Solar return Jupiter is now in an exact trine to the Draconic Jupiter, not only will there be crass commercialism this year of the event, but a greater understanding and a need for wisdom to be brought forth by our leaders, however the opposition to Neptune almost insures some “PR Spin,” and a marketing of the wisdom, at least this year. We might find an underlying lack of true sincerity, using 9/11 as a means to an end, leaving us empty when the day is over. The beginning of a vague understanding that more violence does not end violence will start to take root. Our friends from around the world will grieve with us (Saturn in the 7th, Moon in the 11th) but not in a way we readily understand (Moon square Uranus.)
The Midheaven of our standing in the world is in the exact place as the Ascendant of self was last year. As Mercury was conjunct the Ascendant last year, it conjuncts the Midheaven this year, last year Mercury was in a trine to Saturn, this year it sextiles Pluto. And we should not forget that while last year Jupiter was conjunct the US natal Sun, it was also squaring natal Saturn, and the 9/11 Mercury was conjunct the US natal Saturn. We have that same set up in the Solar Return. There will be something about the “authority” (i.e. government) in this country that isn’t going to set well with those who have been victimized by last year’s tragedy. Something on our home front is hidden from view, something we don’t know.
Little by little over the next year our friends from around the world will share the truth of 9/11 with us, shocking revelations (Uranus ruling the 3rd house of communications) will come from others, with Pluto in the hidden 12th house, the question will be “will we listen?”
The story of this tragedy is an unfolding saga, and for those who lost loved ones on 9/11 the complete story deserves to be told. It will be many years before the pain for the victims of 9/11 subsides, but it will subside.
Countless millions pray with you and for you. The pain of losing a loved one lessens but will never leave neither does the joy leave of having shared their lives even for a moment. As the nation grieves the loss of these men and women, let us also celebrate their passing through our hearts. We wish you God speed and blessings on your life journey toward love and healing.
